Sonak felt the electrostatic energy almost immediately as she stepped into the navigator's personal quarters. A blue-ish, sparkling nebula floated near the back of his living space, hovering near the EPS conduit access panel that normally wouldn't be accessibly by anyone but an engineer, or someone with enough clearance. It made her feel uncomfortable and sick, but she put on a brave face and stepped in a little further, allowing the doors to slide closed behind her.
Larok's marines surrounded her, forming a semi-shield between her and the entity. "Who are you?" she asked, her voice strong and clear, carrying in the silence, "Where do you come from?"
There was no answer, the entity didn't move from it's position, though it sparkled brightly. Sonak listenend as Larok explained that energy weapons would have no effect. "Can we not quench it?" she queried softly, as Larok removed his helmet to get a clearer view. "Electricity is current, and current can be quenched, can it not? Or rather, drained or even overloaded? It forms a danger to my ship and my crew, I want it off my ship."
She tapped her combadge, intending to call the bridge to release Morgan from the brig, but there was no response. "Sonak to bridge, respond." Static. "It is interfering with communications," she concluded, logically of course.
Then, the energy creature changed colour to a deep red, no longer sparkling and it just glowed, casting a red hue to the entire room, eerily reflecting off the visors of the marines' helmets. Uncomfortably, Sonak took a single step back, allowing the platoon to surround her once more. All, but Larok stepped back with her. The brave Vulcan detachement commander faced the entity, his rifle ready even though it was rendered useles.
The entity charged at him, completely enveloping the poor Vulcan. "Larok!" his commanding officer cried, as his marines held her back, refraining her from coming to his assistance. He seemed to glow as the entity pulsated, feeding off him, his skin taking on a bright green colour, quickly paling.
"It's too dangerous ma'am," one of the whispered, while latching on to her arm, his grip very strong. She struggled, but he was determined not to let her endanger herself.
Helplessly, she watched as her marine commander stood frozen, a shocked look on his face, his hair standing on end. He slumped to the deck as the entity moved away, and this time Sonak wouldn't let the marines hold her back. She knelt beside him, feeling for a pulse, then breathed in relief when she found one. "Get him to sickbay," she ordered, though she knew he wouldn't appreciate it. "And someone get to the bridge to report and one to the brig to release Mr Morgan."
That left only two marines with her, along with two useless rifles, three inactive combadges and a defective tricorder. Even the lights were malfunctioning now, apart from the palmlights her marines used. "Computer, erect level 10 containmentfield around these quarters."
The computer too, remained silent, as though nothing of energy or computerised was working inside the navigator's quarters. The entity now held a hue between red and blue, as though it was debating going back to its original feeding, or staying angry. It hovered, coming slowly closer and Sonak stepped back yet again, the two marines forming a shield before her, even though she could see they'd sooner like to bolt from the room.
The door slid open behind them, and the three stepped out. The bright light of the corridor assaulted her eyes and she squinted, blinking several times. She felt strong arms support her, holding her upright as she felt physically drained. The last thing she remembered before passing out altogether, was the entity shooting right through them into the corridor.
Fortunately, for them, one of the marines managed to call out an intruder alert before he too succumbed to unconsciousness.
