This mission shall be started shortly, over the next few days.
Mission briefing: Shortly after the repairs to the Vesuvius are finished, they are to take aboard terraforming equipment and join their Andorian rescuers at a planet they call Sh'al, though the Romulans call it Razan. For most of it's orbit, the D-class planetoid resided in Andorian space, but for only a small portion it resided in Romulan space.
As both parties claim the planetoid to be part of their empire, the Vesuvius is called in to assist in negiotations which will take place on Andor. In the mean time, the Vesuvius crew, along with a team of Romulan and Andorian scientists will work together to create a stable living environment on the planetoid and project a timetable upon which the planetoid will become habitable.
While on Andor, Commander Halthor will have the opportunity to visit his parents.

[white] [Starbase Bellicose] [/white]
After the Andorian Battleship Alal had braught the USS Vesuvius in tow, to the Starbase Bellicose it was time for a much needed repair of all necessary ships systems, Halthor more than happy by the andorians help, made sure to wish them farewell and good luck in there efforts back home and a safe trip through ship communications , then made his way off dry dock and onto the starbase itself. He also knew the other crew had there obligations and what exactly was happening so he was on his own for a few before returning to the ship.
Seeing the opportunity, Halthor was anxious in getting some much needed rest, his mind was all over the place and he had put up a lot in this mission more than he normally would, this was rather stressful, being an andorian, Halthor also wanted to proceed to quarters on the bellicose to get a nice cold shower and something to eat.
“Time for some grub, im so hungry right now, I need to get my hunger satisfied and my body cleaned thoroughly before we head off again.” Vander mentioned, then walked to his washing facilities and cleaned himself off. Getting his new uniform, there was a padd laying on the bed next to him. “Oh what is this” also looking next to it laid a box, with something inside. “A dark pip, I must have been promoted.”
Grabbing the padd he began to read carefully. “To Commander Vander Halthor, for your actions therefore on the mission and decisive thinking throughout the process, Starfleet hereby commends you on your performance and promotes you to Commander 1st Class. Congratulations Commander. Your new orders are as followed we have new information about a terraforming project taking place at Sh’al or Razan, and were to meet at Andor, with romulan and andorian scientists alike in this momentous event. For these orders, I want you to also meet up with your family while on andoria, and get to know your homeworld better, as you have been away from your home, once again congratulations and see you back aboard Vesuvius. End Transmission”
Vander read the following carefully then took the time to realize that he had just been promoted, not wanted to just open up with outward happiness he would control his emotion and proceed with the following orders. Taking out the new pip, he put it on his uniform and put on his Starfleet uniform. Looking himself over in the mirror one time over he thought of himself professional then walked out his quarters, and proceeded to the dry dock again.
Walking along the ship docking ramp he saw many repair crews doing the regular maintenance and daily routines, he was anxious to get things going.
[white] [USS Vesuvius - A] [/white]
Walking to the Ships docking bay ring, Vander approached it then put in the command codes, and watched as the door opened. Making his way through the andorian looked ever so sharp, not making any slight mistakes while he walked, cautiously he then proceeded to engineering to get the latest on repairs.
“Good to be back, and to see the ship in shape once again.” Vander replied walking around then touching one of the terminals. He began to review system data. Performance checks were looking good, and the rock on the side of the ship had been removed so far things were improving.
=/\=Commodore Sonak, This is Commander Halthor, all signs are green for lift off, she’s been taken care of while in dry dock.=/\=

After the towing of the Minerva Module from the Andorian vessel to the Star base, Logan slowly staggered of the Bridge of the Discordia. Looking around, he tried to establish any crew members that may have been in the docking area, since most of his crew had beamed aboard the Minerva during the boarding.
Stopping a deck hand, he asked where the command staff had been relocated since the ships docked. Getting a "I don't know" response from the Lt., he aimed to wards the Main Promenade area to locate members of the Vesuvius. Catching a back glimpse of Jatan, Byrne rushed through the crowds to come across an unknown Vulcan medical officer. Questioning him, he learned the location of Sonak and the other senior staff in the Main Medical bay.
Using the comm panel, Logan was able to catch up slightly with the days events and contact Adml. Clark and inform him of the Discordia's condition, hoping to get a little favor to aid in the repairs of the main ship. Entering a turbo lift, he headed for the Main Sickbay level, But side tracked long enough to stuff some food in his mouth. Wouldn't want the Commodore seeing her FO as a starving mess. As FO, looks count.
Moments later, he came upon Halthor and Fox. Looking at Halthor's collar, he quickly congratulated him on his promotion ,tactics and repairs on the Minerva and asked the where-abouts of the Commodore and her family. After bantering about the battle, he had to excuse himself to Sonak's medical ward.
Entering the room, he saw the nanny and Commodore Sonak's children and the entry area. Glancing at the nanny, he wordlessly asked if it was okay that he enter the main ward. She then motioned to the diagram of the Commodore's health status on the wall. Seeing it was green, Logan entered the room, almost pushing Admiral Elron forward toward the bed. Grabbing his elbow, Byrne steadied both of the officers. Excusing the interruption, he glanced around the room and saw many drawings tacked to the walls from the Commodore's children.
Self-conscious, he felt weird not having anything to offer his commanding officer to aid in her recovery. Shrugging it off, he righted himself and asked about her state of health and the status of the command staff that were on the Bridge at the time of the boarding of the Vesuvius.

Sonak watched Logan approach, though she wasn't too keen on talking to him now. It annoyed her greatly that Caldwell had told her to come back to sickbay for another check-up, especially when she had been enjoying her few days off, spending them on the holodeck with her family. She had even visited her office on Bellicose, which had delighted her oldest twins.
"I am well thank you commander," she answered his polite enquiry, "and I believe the senior staff are on the main bridge. However, with shoreleave, one never knows how one indulges in one's leisures. Have you enjoyed your few days off?"
Just then, Halthor's voice came over the intercom. "Acknowledged commander," she answered, "I shall be up on the bridge shortly." She glared at Caldwell, who retreated into his office without saying another word, knowing his CO would up and leave as she pleased anyway. Gratefully, she accepted Logan's extended hand and got to her feet.
"Commander Byrne, please recall all personnel to the ship. Once the terraforming equipment has been loaded aboard, I believe we are ready to depart. We will have a staff briefing in one hour, make sure everyone attends." She paused briefly. "And, tell everyone there shall be coffee and doughnuts," she added with a slight smile, "perhaps that will have everyone attend in time for a change. I believe Commander Halthor will have the information ready, as he will be our liaison to the Andorians. We are expecting trouble from the Romulans, but perhaps we can negotiate a treaty which will benefit both parties."

[limegreen] Just then, Halthor's voice came over the intercom. "Acknowledged commander," she answered, "I shall be up on the bridge shortly."[/limegreen]
“Understood Commodore, for now with the checks being done on engineering, I believe we will be well ready to go, and I will have the information needed for you at the briefing, be there in an hour.” Halthor replied on intercom.
After closing communications the Andorian checked the ships systems once more to see how subsystem routine checks were doing, and the recent ship modifications. It was looking like the ship was in good shape, but he also wanted to make extra sure that the repair team on the bellicose was doing there job. Opening up the repair panel he could see energy being allocated and shields restored in all areas, the rock had been removed and all parts of the ship were successfully in the green. “Impressive, Bellicose might have to do a repair job on us a lot more, if we need it. But im not suggesting we go hurt the ship.” Vander noted.
After commenting on the ships repairs Halthor was interested in getting to his crew quarters and putting his bags down, and preparing the information. He did not want to be a nuisance or bother when it came to providing what was needed, so he made absolutely sure to check his spelling in the PaDD and collect the required information on both romulan and andorian technology. Interesting as it was, he was more in tune to seeing the commodore’s reply when she actually saw the presentation. So Halthor made his last adjustments to the PaDD’s then put grabbed them along with his presentation material.
Walking out his quarters he saw a new Vesuvius in prestine condition, he could not wait to be back on the bridge, seeing the opportunity, he ran towards the turbo lift, walked in, then arrived at the bridge. Then walking into the briefing room sonak, byrne and others were present. “Here are the PaDD’s with the crucial data information on the mission, I have it all laid out, it would be advised to read them over carefully.” Vander replied.
Then sitting in his chair he watched as commodore sonak and byrne looked over the material. Looking at both of them he then replied “As you can see, with the information provided we are to make our way to sh’al - known by the romulans, or razan known by the andorians, where we are to perform a terraforming project, with the help of both andorian and romulan scientist on andor. Any questions?”

Meylor took a precious moment to pull up a stool to the Tactical console he was manning, taking any opportunity he could to catch his breath. Minerva had coasted into dock virtually on deuterium fumes at long last, and not a moment too soon. She had suffered extensive damage to her outer hull superstructure, and several critical systems were either out of commission or would soon be there. Fortunately, most of the structural hull was secure, and the main computer banks had been well-protected during the battle, which would certainly help out during repairs. Repairs for which he hoped to be present and involved heavily in; he hadn't come back to starship duty after all this time just to see his old ship fall apart. He owed that much and more to this once-graceful bird and her crew, and he would see to it that they would be so again.
As the mooring clamps engaged and the exhausted Bridge crew began power-down procedures in preparation for a Level-1 shipwide diagnostic, Meylor's thoughts turned to his fellow shipmates with real concern. From what he had been able to gather during the cruise back to base, a number of good people had been lost in the battle, others with serious injuries, and now word had come through during the last communique with Starfleet that several transfers, including those involving key staff members, were to happen when they arrived. The crew, every bit as much as the ship, would have to be mended. He tried to put trepidation about these things to the back of his mind, however, and concentrate on taking it one step at a time. He at least had one thing to be thankful for: he was back, and the Vesuvius obviously needed people like him. It put the ghost of a smile on his face for the first time in...well, since as far back as he could remember. As a relief tac officer took the station from him, Meylor flashed the smile at the young officer, probably on his first assignment by the look of him. The kid seemed to be comforted by the gesture, and Meylor could only continue to smile as the thought occurred that he had been that younger man not so long ago. Whatever happened to that kid, anyway?
After spending the rest of the day in Sickbay getting his various wounds and trauma attended to along with the members of his strike team, Meylor was finally able to report in the the Station Security office, and both file and receive updates on the tactical situation in the sector. After an incursion into Federation territory by all kinds of uninvited guests, some friendly, some considerably less so, Starfleet was understandably concerned about the possibility of some kind of invasion or at least the threat of one. As it turned out, however, what looked to be a joint Cardassian-Romulan operation in this area had an extremely specific, and limited, purpose behind their attack, and it appeared to be a covert espionage maneuver to try and capture the latest in Starfleet technology, namely the Vesuvius herself. Their aim had originally been to make it look like an accident involving asteroid collision during wargames maneuvers, but that plan had rapidly spun out of control. Now, those enemy ships that had survived had slunk back into the interstellar shadows from whence they had come, leaving their official government representatives at the Bellicose embassy to clean up the diplomatic mess.
And a fine job they had done, too; apparently claims and counter-claim had been exchanged, evidence uncovered and promptly covered up again, with the upshot being that officially, the espionage by supposed Cardassian and Romulan intelligence forces was entirely unauthorized and in fact uncorroborated given the dubious evidence presented. The questionable actions of any supposed covert ops forces on behalf of either power was thereby plausibly denied, and the matter soon relegated to back-room negotiations to which the gneral public and, pointedly, the Vesuvius crew were no longer privy to. Yet another sure sign that Starfleet Intel might well be working on the case, said Meylor with vocal bitterness. His dissatisfaction with his former superiors at Intel and their methods were quickly becoming common knowledge at the Starbase, though it was made clear to him that such dissent would not be tolerated patiently or indefinitely. So, that appeared to be that.
Meylor returned to his assigned shipboard quarters, as he refused to be far from the repair process for very long, and besides, it would get him away from the prying bureaucrats on the station. The replicator didn't work yet, the lights kept flickering, but it was more of a home to him than anyplace had been for quite some time. And for the next week, he threw himself into the work of helping restore the ship to her former glory, happy for now just to have a worthy, clear, morally and politically unambiguous goal to work towards. It did his spirits a galaxy of good.
* * *
The time had come for Vesuvius to ship out once more, and Meylor was right on hand in Cargo Bay 1 to oversee the final check of equipment loading along with his old friend Thorad, who had happily agreed to take on quartermaster duties after being replaced as Operations Manager by Meylor. It wasn't the only thing the spry old Andorian was happy about; an overdue (in Meylor's opinion) promotion to Lieutenant Commander had just been handed down from Starfleet, his antennae were healing nicely after the injuries sustained in battle, and he would soon be seeing his homeworld again, which he hadn't visited since signing aboard the Vesuvius. A joke about the weather on Sh'al, consisting mostly of plasma flares ravaging its unprotected surface (it being cursed with the most tenuous of atmospheric layers) was lost on Meylor, who could never fully comprehend Andorian humor. Somehow, the gist of it always seemed to come through, though, the way Thorad told it, and Meylor always appreciated the man's personable attitude.
Soong enough, the summons to briefing was heard over the comm, and Meylor bid Thorad a fond congratulations on the promotion as he took his leave. His steps quickened as he remembered that doughnuts were to be served, and he wanted to see the staff's reaction to the special spicy blend on a few of them that he had ordered from the station's Bajoran cuisine kiosk. Terran food had always been on the bland side for his taste, and he thought he'd share with his crewmates a brief taste of some real flavour in the breakfast...

~~Before~~
At starbase bellicose while the Vesuvius was successfully docked Vander wanted to be able to head to the his quarters to be able to get a communique sent out to his parents it had been a long time since he had spoken to either of them. Father Jath Halthor and Kaio Halthor being his mother, they were often looking forward to the time when he would be seeing him as well, focusing on the communiqués that had recently been sent in during the mission, Halthor’s parents were able to relay themselves a message about what had happened on Andor, and there ventures so forth. To explain further, Vander was more interested in watching the viewing in the terminal.
“[Log entry 1. Andor: ] Halthor this is your mother, Kaio, we have been missing you lots while you have left, on your ventures so forth out in your Starfleet career, we found it in ourselves to get some things done around the house and also watch over your dog zackarai, he’s such a smart little one running from one end of the house to the other, anyways, we have been able to get out to the community often, talking to the neighbors and often with the elders about your career so forth, they find it rather interesting. Your father wishes you could have stayed, but your independent now and it was your choice to have left to have pursued your own adventures, and your father is proud of what you have done so far. For now, we are just getting some more stuff done around the house, but we look forward to seeing you. [End Transmission]”
“[Log entry 2. Andor: ] Halthor your father sees it fit to use some of your exercise equipment and start working out, and I have been able to watch over him, your dog seems rather full of energy, ive fed him the courses of meals everyday, and cant wait to see you, ive got some walking done, and been able to get out some, ive enjoyed seeing the city again, andoria is so nice, anyway, this is gonna be a short transmission, we miss you and hope you see us soon. [End Transmission]”
After closing the terminal he reconciled within himself then went back to the ship to begin repairs.
~~After~~
Coming back to the briefing room, Halthor was more interested in his information than anything and he had the thought in his mind once, they reached andor, he would be seeing his parents very soon.

As she listened to Halthor's briefing, Sonak poured herself a large cup of tea and reached for one of the plain doughnuts. She was quite fond of them, but didn't like any fancy tastes other than plain and strawberry jam.
“As you can see, with the information provided we are to make our way to sh’al - known by the romulans, or razan known by the andorians, where we are to perform a terraforming project, with the help of both andorian and romulan scientist on andor. Any questions?”
"After the recent attacks performed by the Romulans, against both ourselves and the Andorians, are the diplomats aware that our presence could cause severe strain on the Romulan scientists?" Sonak queried as she retook her seat.
Romulan activity was high in the sector now, and the Vulcan captain wondered how this would affect the safety of the scientists, both Andorian and Romulan, as well as any other species that they would be sending down to assist.
She turned to Fox. "I do hope your department is ready for a project this scale commander," she said, "we will need everyone with knowledge in geology, meteology and achitecture. We do not wish to lose any artefacts we may recover or damage the surface itself. We only need to create a suitable atmosphere for both Andorian and Romulan to breathe. As such, we should attempt to retain any existing ecosystem as much as possible."
Sonak glanced sideways at Halthor. "I assume we shall be needing to dress warmly?" She knew Andorians preferred their surroundings to be cold, if not freezing cold. Much the opposite of herself. "There is something else I wish to discuss, but that can wait until after the briefing, Commanders Byrne and Halthor, please remain after the briefing is over."
Walking around the table, she glanced back at her senior staff. "On another note, with Doctor Caldwell going on a much deserved vacation and Jatan staying behind on Bellicose with our children, I shall be assuming command of sickbay until we receive a new chief medical officer. It should not interfere with my duties as commanding officer, I can command from the chief medical officer's office just as well as I could from main bridge. Any objections?" She didn't expect to hear any and even if there were, this was her ship and she could do so if she wished.

“I don’t think they are aware of the situation, but im positive that we can inform Starfleet command and themselves prior to the meeting on andor.” Halthor responded
“If it would be even better we could even relay this information about the prior attacks soon to appropriate channels, before the meeting were to take place, and have there governments see fit what to do on where to go on an action.” the andorian replied.
“I also don’t want this meeting to arrise between our peoples, The United Federation of Planets, the Romulan Government, and Andorian government and have them start some kind of uproar, we need to be able to handle this cooperatively with our information at hand and what happened at the scene, so then they can explain it, and seek a better resolution.” Halthor motioned.

“Indeed So Commodore, Andor is a very cold climate and seeing as which it will be a prime condition for me, which im used to being in the coldest of weather, its like summer to me, but winter to you, so it would be strongly advised.” Looking back at the Commodore after her immediate response. “Understood Commodore, I shall remain seated for the duration of the end of the meeting for what you have to discuss.” Vander replied.
Interesting as it was he was wondering what kind of discussion it may be but who knows, only fate would decide.

Fox had been listening carefully to everything that was said. Reading information on a pad in front of him. He looked up from the pad when Sonaks attention went to him.
Fox nodded "We're ready for this project Commodore." he answered. "I've looked over the equipment inventory and everything we need should be there. Emma Franks is an expert on geology and Darius Astaire in meteology, both also are interested in achitecture. I'll leave them in charge on their expertise."
Sonak nodded shortly "Good Commander." she then looked away from him. Asking Halthor some questions. Finally Sonak informed them of a last note that Doctor Caldwell and Jatan would be absent.
"I shall be assuming command of sickbay until we receive a new chief medical officer. It should not interfere with my duties as commanding officer, I can command from the chief medical officer's office just as well as I could from main bridge. Any objections?"
Fox could tell Sonak didn't expect to hear any but still raised his hand. Sonak looked at him. "Yes Commander?" she said glancing at him. "It may not interfere with your command duties, but what if we get in a troublesome situation?" He didn't want to put it like this, but felt he had to. "Afterall the chief medical officer is the only one that would outrank you in a medical crysis. Maybe we should ask starfleet medical for a temporary chief medical officer."
Fox sat a bit uneasy in his seat after what he had said, awaiting Sonaks answer.

We only need to create a suitable atmosphere for both Andorian and Romulan to breathe. As such, we should attempt to retain any existing ecosystem as much as possible."
Meylor transmitted his recommendations from a PADD to the wall display screen, allowing everyone to peruse the qualifications of the officers in question. "I've asked each of the Science departments to submit their resource, power requirement, and personnel needs to me, and they've provided us with a number of good options, including some specialists just transferred from the starbase who have had the opportunity in recent weeks to test out some experimental new scanning technologies on the asteroid field, which were mercifully free of the kind of problems that we encountered there."
He took a moment to bring up a diagram of a piece of the new scanning equipment. "This latest model magneton scanner will be able to give a clearer resolution on our subatomic particle survey than would be possible with standard sensors, and should be minimally invasive as well, in case we should happen across any undiscovered elements in the rock which might react unpredictably, or any new forms of life at such microcosmic levels. Unlikely, I know, but that's one of the things we're there to find out. All of the labs will be at least on standby operation during the mission, but in particular the Geology, Metallurgy, Meteorology, Physics, Chemistry, and potentially the Biology and Archaeology labs will need to have priority power usage for the duration." He set down his pad, selected a particular doghnut from the table, and sat back as he finished his remarks. "Those are the major points I wanted to raise for the time being, but all the details are in the report; if there are any specific concerns about any of them, please feel free to ask."
Walking around the table, Sonak glanced back at her senior staff. Any objections?" Maybe we should ask starfleet medical for a temporary chief medical officer."
Meylor spoke up in support of the first officer's concerns. "I'm afraid I have to agree with the Commander, ma'am. The regs are pretty clear about Command/Medical protocol, and given the potential security concerns in the area of space we're going to be operating within, we're likely going to to need your and Commander Fox's full expertise for both command-and-control and diplomatic reasons. Similarly, the Medical staff should be as well-staffed and supported as possible not only given the security situation, but also in case they should have to provide emergency triage both to our crew as well as the Romulan and Andorian teams in the event of any unusual natural phenomena in in the vicinity of Sh'al posing any number of both known and unforeseen health risks. We already know that the intense plasma flares the area is often plagued with pose not only a navigational hazard, but have been known disrupt deflector shield functionality, increasing the risk of plasma exposure to anyone unlucky enough to be caught in an unprotected location."
He paused a moment to allow the implications to resound in the minds of the staff. "Fortunately, I have asked the starbase Medical department for any available qualified starship surgeons who may be available at this time, and they have informed me that just such a candidate is currently serving as a consulting physician in their Infirmary. He's only arrived on Bellicose recently for temporary consultation, and as such, would be available for transfer on short notice, or so I'm told." The service record of the officer in question was brought up on the display. "This is Doctor Phloyd Hedin, an El-Aurian officer with over a century of Starfleet medical experience, much of it served aboard starships. He sounds like an ideal candidate to me, but I leave that to your judgment."

Two against one so far, this wasn't looking good, Sonak mused. However, she was determined to spend time in sickbay, working as a doctor. She had to spend so many hours in sickbay anyway to keep her medical license, which she had no intention of losing. "I shall not be spending all time in sickbay," she conceded, "but I do need to still practice medicine to keep my medical license. As such, I am required to spend time working in a hospital or indeed a ship's sickbay. Those hours that I am required to be on the bridge, shall be covered by the EMH."
She glanced at the profile Meylor offered. "He served as my chief medical officer," she answered, "and he transferred away. He is not needed right now Commander Meylor, but perhaps at a later date he may sign on. For now, I stand by my decision and your protests are noted."
Sonak reached for another doughnut, then thought the better of it, reaching for the tea instead. Pouring herself another cup, she sat back, listening to her operations chief's further explanations. Usually, the science babble mate little sense to her. All she understood so far was that she was going to be freezing cold; Vulcans were desert bred, not arctic bred. "What about personnel equipment?" she queried, "as in combat gear, clothing, other necessities for an away mission of this scale?"

Meylor turned to his PADD again, and brought up the personnel equipment specs on the display. "Well, given that the planetoid is currently Class-D with an atmosphere barely comparable to that of Mars prior to its settlement, the surface teams are going to be spending the majority of the project working in environmental suits, and will in certain cases continue to do so even after pressurized domes are established." He pointed out a diagram of another kind of garment. "These thermal jumpsuits will serve as our individual climate control until such time as the proper climate conditions can be formed within the domes. Also, each team will be equipped with portable sarium krellide generators, the same power source that, on a smaller scale, is used by our hand phasers."
"Together with individual transport armbands that have been modified to serve as shield emitters, it will be possible in an emergency to link the fields produced by each armband to form one large shield bubble which will provide an isolated environment for that team, within which the generator will then be able to provide sufficient climate control until such time as rescue is possible. The armband shield emitters, which have been developed, by that way, due to the ingenious efforts of our Chief Engineer, will have the added benefit of providing a secure shelter that should remain impervious to attack for as long as the power lasts. Each team will also be issued standard medkits and emergency rations as a nominal precaution."
Meylor then displayed the weapons and environmental suit diagrams. "Hand phasers will be issued to each team member, not only for protection but also for potential use as a precision drilling tool in contingency applications. Two phaser rifles per team will also be issued for heavier firepower should our Romulan partners prove hostile, and the heavy-duty phaser drills issued to the Geology and Construction teams will be capable of rapid conversion into phaser cannons if circumstances turn extreme. The best bit, though, is that our spacesuits have been reinforced with bonded ablative armor plating, a technology that has been deployed on some starships for several years now, but has only recently been approved for use on personnel equipment. This armor will, upon contact with directed energy fire as well as most types of abrasive natural radiation or plasma streams, absorb the harmful energy, dissipating it when possible, and finally vaporizing both the plating and the energy at a controlled rate should a high enough threshold of tolerance be reached."
"It's proven quite successful on starship hulls, and tests to this point have shown it to have similar efficiency when exposed to most energy impacts likely to be encountered by the user. However, given its experimental nature, I've taken the liberty of having these new suits issued to one of our Security teams for more hands-on testing on the Holodeck. Additionally, all of our scientific and life-support equipment that is designed to handle it has been encased in the same armor, as added insurance against malfunction caused by such energy impact as they're likely to be exposed to down there."

[limegreen] She turned to Fox. As such, we should attempt to retain any existing ecosystem as much as possible." [/limegreen]
“Commander Fox, be aware that I have a abundance of information on both the romulan and andorian fronts, with unique backrounds of both arenas, the biological capacity of the individual I know in detail of both the romulan and andorian, and we have engaged them in a battle before just recently, I see the romulans as a menace and the andorians as a ally. Being that I am an andorian myself, I know about the climate structure of my own planet and that of my neighbors, I havent been to romulus, but have heard stories about the planet. Being that it was separated from vulcan, and that the vulcan society were of no means wanting to be with the romulans, the same goes with the romulans.”
“There is a vast amount of history behind the two peoples and I would like you to know that these two can be powerful and wise at the same time. Romulans can be decisive and secretive. Andorians will be strong and power-hungry. For the information on the two regarding societal balance, they interact well within there own systematic structures, though the andorians have tended to spread out and meet with new races and show there alliance to the federation, but with the romulans and there war of hatred, it will be a long time before we see a truce between the federation and the andorian peoples, as well as vulcan society.” Halthor responded
“Also know that the Andorian peoples are strong in pursuing a strong relationship with its allies and are very kind when around others, I wish the romulans were the same.” Vander motioned then sat back in his seat looking over his information.
[limegreen] He took a moment to bring up a diagram of a piece of the new scanning equipment. "Those are the major points I wanted to raise for the time being, but all the details are in the report; if there are any specific concerns about any of them, please feel free to ask." [/limegreen]
“Very good Commander Meylor, this information shall prove useful when the time arrises, continue will your observations as you see fit” Vander replied.
[limegreen] Meylor then displayed the weapons and environmental suit diagrams. "Hand phasers will be issued to each team member, not only for protection but also for potential use as a precision drilling tool in contingency applications. [/limegreen]
“Good, I shall look forward to a secure terraforming involvement with you as the operations officer." Vander motioned.

The Vulcan nodded, remembering her own friendship with an Andorian woman. She had always wondered what had happened to sh'Ayla, after that incident on a planet, where both of them had been held hostage, she'd never heard from her again. "Andorians value honour just as much as the Klingons or the Romulans do," she confirmed, "though they are nearly as hot-headed as both."
She offered Vander a half-smile. "No offense intended commander," she added.
Seeing that the meeting was almost to an end, she nodded to everyone present. "That will be all. Any furher questions can be forwarded to any departmenthead where and when needed. Ensign Ducati already set course for our project, and we shall be met by representatives from both Romulan and Andorian governments upon arrival. Commander Fox, make sure engineering has your prognosis on progress as soon as possible. You may wish to confer with geology and geophysics in the mean time. Commander Meylor, your expertise might be beneficial to Fox, assist him where you can."
She had no further orders for engineering just yet, but she was certain operations and science would come up with anything along the way that would require the chief engineer to assist. "This meeting is adjourned. Halthor, Byrne, please remain."
While the rest filed out of the room, she turned to both Human and Andorian. "Commander Byrne, I have received your request to return to engineering duties and I have decided to approve it. I valued your counsel as first officer, but I do believe you will indeed be happier in engineering, as chief engineer."
The Vulcan held up her hand, stalling the Andorian's protests. "Since that would leave the first officer position vacant, Commander Halthor you are hereby promoted to first officer. The position exchange is effective immediately. Commander Byrne, you are to report to engineering and resume your prior duties as chief engineer. Commander Halthor, from now on your place is on the bridge. Dismissed."
Byrne marched out of the briefingroom, a slight smile of happiness playing across his face. "Something on your mind Mr Halthor?" she queried as she too left the room, making her way to the turbolift which would take her to sickbay, where she would resume her temporary duties as chief medical officer.

“Well not really, I just wanted to thank you for the position that was offered before me in the first place, and Im glad to you were able to choose me, I will do my best to put forward as much potential as you see fit in me as you gave the position to me, in the coming days, I don’t want you to get angry, and I want to make sure the crew are happy and enjoying there duties aboard the Vesuvius, so I will make my way to the bridge for now and look forward to working with you as first officer.” Vander commented.
Walking out the sliding door with sonak from the briefing room he saw the first officers chair, next to the captain’s and firmly took a seat, taking place looking over the terminal that was uniquely fit in place in his arm panel. Touching one of the buttons he looked over data that had been relayed from the prior missions and data entries that had been made by prior first officers, he was keen to looking into more of this information but was more focused on the mission, for now he would play his part in watching the crew take there roles and getting the ship moving.
“Ensign Ducati, let me know all details of the coordinates when we arrive and the current arrival time, we shouldn’t be too late, but its good to be informed about what exactly is gonna happen before we get there, we don’t wanna be too hasty now do we.” Halthor said.
“Commander Meylor make sure your operations crew are well maintanenced for this mission, I would like to see what you have put up for the mission, and what training methods you have used.” Halthor commented.
Touching the communication terminal “Commander Byrne, how are those engines doing, hopefully in tip top shape, I want a report in the next hour or so, thank you.” Vander replied. “Commodore Sonak were on our way to andor, ETA to arrival, two days, five hours and six minutes, ill keep you updated tell then.”

Listening a little more intensely to Commander Meylor's description to the new environmental suits, Logan spaced to a design he had made for his Omega Flyer during the Black Hole mission. Watching the Commodore eat her donuts, he secretly tapped his thigh waiting for the science department to finish their report.
Seeing the look on Vander's face as the briefing closed, he waited for the Commodore to basically rain on his parade on being demoted to CEO and Halthor taking his place. Vander knew the ship, but Logan felt more comfortable after time being a lug nut and not a bolt. While he enjoyed the position, he missed the turning of the screws and bolts of the ship. The last mission made him realize that. Using the Modules as shields and scalpels. He missed that.
Exiting after Commodore Sonak's speech, he glanced in Commander Haltor's direction, seeing him settle his blue posterior in the ring seat, he nodded a look of thanks for being the better man. 'Maybe someday', thought Byrne, ' I can take it back'.
Heading toward Engineering, he commed a few personnel to update him on the current status of the ship and repairs made. As well as, the equipment in the cargo bays, so he could situate the ship before engaging the ship into the mission. Walking into the Main Situation room on the Engineering level, he found his previous office well decorated in a alien motif and the newest state of the art interfaces. Shrugging his shoulders, he rapidly responded to the comm from the Bridge, of the ship's merit and readiness.

Commander Fox, make sure engineering has your prognosis on progress as soon as possible. You may wish to confer with geology and geophysics in the mean time. Commander Meylor, your expertise might be beneficial to Fox, assist him where you can."
Meylor nodded in acknowledgment as he rose from his seat to leave. "Indeed, Commodore. Given the variety of new equipment to be used on this job, as a well as the modifications to the ship itself during our recent repairs, both he and Mr. Byrne will be working closely with me as we make preparations. Here's to a smooth operation..." He raised his coffee mug in a good-natured salute, then made his way from the Briefing Room to his office to review the morning's personnel reports.
Arriving at his Deck Three office, Meylor greeted Crewman Godlewski, a jovial middle-aged Pole who had cultivated a congenial working relationship with the senior officers on several different ships (not just Starfleet ones, either) during his modest but successful career as a yeoman. The two briefly discussed the last of the personnel transfers from Starbase Bellicose, including one last group of Medical officers who had unavoidably arrived late by shuttlecraft in the last hour (due to their transport to Bellicose having been previously delayed). If Commodore Sonak wouldn't have a new doctor aboard just yet, Meylor suggested to Godlewski, at least she might appreciate a fresh nursing staff to round out her Sick Bays. Not only were they particularly versatile medics, according to reports, but at least one was also qualified in space psychology, something the Vesuvius might well need if the stress of the recent mission was any indication. Meylor himself had been contemplating whether he should consult just such a specialist given the trauma of his previous assignment, and this could provide just such an opportunity. He made a point to revise his schedule to include a visit to the Sick Bays at some point in the day to welcome the new nurses aboard and get some kind of gauge of their performance and personalities. Perhaps, eventually, some off-duty morale boosting wouldn't hurt, either; he liked to invite most new officers to the Mess Hall for refreshment now and then for just such reasons.
As he busied himself with going over the just-received report from the Holodeck concerning a Security team test of the new spacesuits, an urgent message came in from Deflector Control notifying him of the less-than-favorable results of a Level-2 Diagnostic on the shield emitters. Given that he had been heavily involved in the recent repairs, and particularly with the newly installed shield emitters, he had requested to be notified of the results so that he could double-check them against initial test readings already taken at Bellicose. His experience with both deflector shield and life-support field design would be needed on this job, given the variables involved. After seeing to that errand, he would then have to begin the dreaded work of breifing the Science Departments, along with Commander Fox, on the final resource and power allocation schedule. There were sure to be more than a few impeccably professional (if heated) arguments on the subject among the different labs, most especially about the requirements regarding full cooperation with the foreign science teams. But these matters were not something Meylor anticipated would get in the way of a feasible collaboration, both between themselves and in relation to the Andorian and Romulan scientists. After all, if he could get past his own biases against the Romulan mentality, it should be possible for just about anyone...
Just as these thoughts and others went through his mind, they were interrupted by First Officer Halthor's comm signal.“Commander Meylor make sure your operations crew are well maintanenced for this mission, I would like to see what you have put up for the mission, and what training methods you have used.” Halthor commented.
Meylor tapped his commbadge in response. "That we are, sir. One of the matters I'm concentrating on today is personnel orientation and the like, including prepping our science teams for working together closely with our foreign guests. I'd hoped to have a compatriot of yours, my Operations relief officer Lt. Cmdr. Thorad, provide some input on Andorian protocol at my briefing, but he's unavoidably detained down in Shuttle Maintenance this afternoon. Perhaps, if you're not overly busy, I can persuade you to make a few remarks there later?"

After the briefing Fox headed to the science labs to see what they were up against. He walked to a console. "Computer, display Sh'al." he ordered. An awfull barren planetoid appeared on his screen. "This will be a major project." he thought "making this a habitable place. Fox laughed a bit as he thought back at Sonaks mention of an existing ecosystem. "If there is any." he thought. "Possible, but unlikely."
He pushed a few buttons on his console to display the temperatures in color across the image of the planet. Most of the planetiod colored orange, some placed toward red. "This is going to be a nice challange." he said to himself "Making it suitable for andorians. The temperature need to drop greatly."
Behind him Fox could heard the doors of the science lab slide open, but didn't pay attention to it. Suddenly Darius stood behind him. "Is that our project?" he asked. Fox quickly turned around. "Yes Lieutenant." he said with a little smile on his face. "Ready for a real challange?" "Always." Darius answered "You know me Commander."

Opening communications with Byrne, halthor responded, “Thank you Commander Byrne for the quick reply, make sure she will remain that way for the duration of the trip and so forth.” Halthor then opened another channel.
Tapping the terminal and speaking, “Not a problem Commander, it would seem the ship is on a steady course to arrival at andor, with ensign ducati at hand, so after I get a bite to eat at the ship’s galley, and brush myself off at my quarters I will be down there to provide remarks.” Halthor closed channels
Then walking getting out of his seat he looked at ensign ducati making sure he had all the adjustments being made for the trip, and watching out the viewport, the ship was proceeding through space with a swift and agile approach. “Keep up what your doing Ensign, if you can get us there any quicker that would be beneficial, but your timing for ship piloting is excellent so continue with the helm work.” Halthor nodded and tapped the ensigns shoulder in reply.
Then walking towards the turbo lift and off the bridge, he pressed the button to head straight to the galley. Walking out he arrived and saw the nearest replicator, he walked to it and asked that it produce for him andorian milk and some meat with vegetables on the side. Sitting down he ate for an hour then looked out the side viewport, then made his way out the galley and toward his quarters.
After Halthor had straightened himself up and gotten a quick shower and some rest, he made a careful but steady approach to operations.
Walking through the door he saw Commander Meylor, “Commander, good to see you, you requested for some remarks on my behalf, so what is exactly going on here. Tell me the situation as you know it.” Halthor paused and waited for the commander to reply.

Meylor welcomed the First Officer into his office, and offered him a seat. "Basically, sir, I'd just like to prepare the science teams for working in close partnership with their Andorian counterparts, getting them used to way these kinds of missions are typically carried out by Andorian scientists. As you're no doubt familiar with, Starfleet and Andorian procedures can often vary considerably, and the more these two methods can be made to accommodate one another, the more efficiently this mission will proceed."
"If you can provide the science teams with a general outline of your experience with the working standards among Andorian crews and the ways in which you feel that they compare to Starfleet procedure, that should be a great start. I'm sure many of the crew will have more specific questions, particularly with regard to the kind of enviromental conditions typical to Andorian settlements, I'm sure it'll go a long way towards prioritizing the various steps in the terraforming agenda."

Leaving the bridge in Halthor's capable hands, Sonak headed down to sickbay, wondering why people had objected to her serving as medical officer for a few hours a day. She found her way without trouble, having spent enough time as a patient in main sickbay to know it by memory. Sickbay fell quiet as she entered and Sonak had no doubt Caldwell had warned everyone that she'd be coming as soon as the ship left spacedock. Equally, she had no doubt that Caldwell had left certain instructions to be adhered to while he was off-ship and while Jatan stayed behind on Bellicose.
Quietly, she walked around sickbay, performing a brief inspection while nodding in approval here and there. D'Angelo had left behind a perfectly running medical facility and Caldwell had done a good job continuing that. When she was done with her inspection she walked into the chief medical officer's office and logged on, stating her intention to serve as chief medical officer for a while. "Confirmed," the computer acknowledged, then fell silent once more.
The Vulcan exited the office and with a nurse in attendance, started her very first round in years since taking command of the Vesuvius. She remembered serving as chief medical officer on her previous ship, but that was now a long time ago. "So far so good," the nurse commented under her breath, though she could see her commanding officer had no doubt heard.
"I am a qualified doctor and counselor," Sonak pointed out, while checking her PADD for details on their first patient. "I need not remind you that I served as either for many years, do I?"
"No ma'am," the nurse responded calmly, "I was just pointing out that we haven't got any severe cases at the moment. Thus you have ample time to get back into the swing of things."
"Ah," Sonak commented, raising one eyebrow in response. They stopped at a biobed and the Vulcan glanced down at their patient. "Human male, thirty standard years old. Multiple laesies on chest and back," she commented as she examined the male. "Lieutenant Mallard, I believe I had ordered you to stay away from the holodeck for two months,' she observed sternly. "You have disobeyed my order, obviously. lay back and remain still while I attend to you."
Grunting, Mallard lay back, allowing his commanding officer/doctor to prod and poke him while she continued her examination. "You are lucky that broken rib did not puncture your lung. When we arrive at Andor, you are to remain aboard. No ski-ing or snowboarding adventures for you until further notice, understood?"
"Yes ma'am," the lieutenant responded meekly. "No holodecks, no shoreleave, got it."
"You are dismissed. Report to security for disciplinary actions at 0500 tomorrow morning." Sonak turned back to the nurse. "Sickbay to Halthor, ETA to Andor?"

“That will not a be problem commander, hence that’s the reason why im here is it not, to help you, and provide some information, so the science team you say needs some backround on andorian crews and how they are similar, well let me walk over to them and explain.” Halthor mentioned
“Firstly, andorians are much like the humans, but we are different in that we have blue skin, carry two tendrils on the top of our forehead, can endure extreme cold climate conditions and are eager to fight when provoked. And we also have a backbone when it come to honor aboard the ship, we take pride in our service and In the crew in which we serve with, and will die for a just cause if we believe in it.” Halthor mentioned before the science team.
“So you say the Andorians are kinda like the klingons fierce when provoked but honorary like that of Starfleet personel, and work alongside doing your job vigilantly, and a crew of andorians would act almost the same as Starfleet crew, in that they would peform roles under command, and seek a safer alternative to fighting.” Lt Jacks said as part of the science teams questioning.
“That is true, we are a race which will provide the means to become successful and will continue seeking help and prosperous methods to ensure a capable community and civilized society.” Halthor replied.
“Also what kind of conditions are there on andor, is it very cold and should we prepare ourselves upon arrival.” Lt Jacks replied.
“Yes wear a jacket if you must, it will be very cold, and the climate is almost unbearable to humans.” Turning back to Commander Meylor “Commander I believe the science team has all the information they need for the proceedings but if you would like to question them further and give them some more information on your behalf on what you have found in the ships database from Starfleet, feel free.”
=/\=I’m heading back to the bridge to get the status update, contact you when I get there, Halthor out=/\=
Heading out of Operations and Arriving back at the bridge Halthor motioned to Ensign ducati for a status report.
=/\=Commodore Sonak, ETA Tminus 12 Hours, 15 Minutes, Ill keep you posted, we should be in orbit early tomorrow.=/\=
Sitting down in the command chair, he looked over the terminal and watched the ensign cautiously.

Morgan Nikolayevitch was a little tired, he had been assigned to the USS Vesuvius but had reached starbase to find she had left without him. Still she wasn't going that fast and he estimated that his Spirit would catch the much larger ship about 8 hours before she got where she was going. He hadn't been on a Somna class in a while so that would be interesting, as for the rest he hadn't really been informed of why they needed a CNO yet but that gap would no doubt be filled on his arrival.
He caught a very quick nap and then changed into a clean uniform, best to make a good first impression on a new CO even if (as usual) it was all down hill from there. He grimaced slightly as he fixed his pips into place, he would have made commander by now (even with his history) if it hadn't been for that little incident near Tellis Prime. Still that could be helped now, anyway he maintained that he had done the right thing.
The USS Vesuvius registered on his sensors, they would read him as a courier ship and would probably pay him no attention whatso ever. Still he tripped the comm.
=/\=USS Vesusvius, this is USS Spirit. Heard you needed a navigator?=/\= He coughed slightly and then continued a touch more formally. =/\=Lieutenant Morgan Nikolayevitch requesting permission to come aboard=/\= He broke into a smile =/\=Just tell me where I should park.=/\=

Watching the terminal closely and peeling his eyes on the viewport, Halthor began to loose focus for a minute, but only a minute before reacting very quickly. Something had popped up on scanners just off the port bow and Halthor was getting suspicious but also needed to authenticate its registry. “Tactical officer report your findings on the nearest ship off the port bow.” the andorian replied. “It would appear to be a courier ship the USS Spirit.” Ensign Tons replied.
“Hmm a courier in these parts, what would Starfleet have in these parts of space concerning the current mission.” Looking over the logs, Halthor began to focus more into detail into the records of personnel that were newly assigned. “Ah it would seem we have a new navigations officer. That would be why the USS Spirit is here.”

=/\=USS Vesuvius to USS Spirit, clearance granted, proceed to landing bay A. From there we will see that your ship will be placed in stasis for the duration of the trip, Once you arrive I suggest you visit our medical officer, Commodore Sonak for your medical screening.=/\=
“Well that went well, Im sure Sonak will take good care of him.” Halthor replied then sat back down in his chair then watched out the viewport as the USS spirit made a roundabout way to the landing bay.
Moments later…
=/\=Halthor to Sonak we have arrived at Andor, if you wish I shall have a landing party ready in the transporter room.=/\=
Closing communications he touched the terminal to review preliminary data on the planet.
