L'Ola made her way down to the labs with the vial in one hand and the cloaking device in the other. "Computer, locate Lieutenant Jenna Peters."
"Lieutenant Peters is in stellacartography."
"Of course she is, that's where I told her to be." She said, annoyed that she hadn't remembered.
She entered science lab 2 and called over a few people. "Please can you go to one of the medical labs and do a primary analysis on this?" She held up the vial, and handed it to one of them. "I'll be down to join you as soon as I can."
The team left the lab, and L'Ola headed over to the other side of the lab. She attached the cloaking device to a sensor box and started her analysis.

J'Rall stood patiently waiting for the Commander to arrive. He just hoped his plan would suceed. If all goes well help should arrive within minutes. The guard re-entered the room followed by the Commander.
"This better be good Doctor," He said pulling off his leather gloves and rain jacket.
"It is indeed sir, or I would not have called you."
"Well then get on with it," the commander said impatiently motioning to the consol. J'Rall moved to the computer and began running the large machine visible through a large Transparent Aluminum window. The Commander walked over to the window and watched as the machine pulsed and glowed to life. J'Rall continued to punch in commands and adjustments to the engine matrices.
~here goes nothing~ he thought as he began punching in his final sequence ~whatever God is out there here I come~ and hit the last button.
Seconds later the machine turned from a nice cool blue hugh to a bright orange. Slowly a high pitched whine developed and the ground began to shake. The Commander looked over at the Professor with a look of fear on his face.
"What did you do!?" He demanded.
"I...I don't know," J'Rall stampered and lied. He busily faked looking for the cause. "My calculations were perfect. Every simulation passed."
The commander pushed him aside and looked at the screen. He began looking over the work as the ground shook even worse than before. He reached the point where the doctor had changed the system settings. His eyes widened and he glared over at the doctor who now stood with an air of confidence and betrayal. He reached for his disruptor but was intercepted by the exploding consol. He collapsed to the ground in a heap. J'Rall stared in shock at his good fortune.
~Vesuvius~
Nick stood on the bridge in front of the Command chair. A rare opportunity as Commander Harper was in sickbay for a case of Denobulan Flu. He watched the screen as they approached the planet. Behind him he noticed a beeping coming from the command chair. He leaned over to see what it was and sat down quickly to read the data. He hit his com-badge.
"Martens to transporter room one. I've located the Professor. We need him out now, there seems to be a large reactor in the area which is overloading."
=/\= I've got a lock. Energising =/\= came the reply.
~planet~
The commander slowly pulled himself to his feet. He brushed some green blood out of his eyes and stared at the professor. He straightened up and pulled out his disruptor.
"This is the last time you've failed." He pulled the trigger only to see the Professor turning blue in a transporter haze.
~Vesuvius~
=/\= Got him =/\= the cheif on duty said.
"Thanks chief." Nick said. Just then a large fireball exploded on the surface of the planet.

The ship shook with the shockwave of the explosion, and in her quarters, Sonak felt the deckplates vibrate heavily but then wear off as shields took the brunt of the next shockwave. "Sonak to bridge, what happened!" she asked. She had just gotten dressed after seeing Ramsden out, and she had just been on her way to see Kate.
Despite her hidden and unconscious hatred of the woman, she felt pity for her as well. She assumed that the woman was forced into whatever she kept doing. And now this shadowed figure, she wondered if Kate knew more.
She left her quarters and walked down to the brig area, and spoke briefly to the guard. He allowed her in reluctantly, after she told him to take up the argument with Ramsden, not with her.
"Hello Kate," Sonak asked quietly, then saw the woman shrink from her. Last time she had come down to visit, she;d been infected with the vampire virus, and had scared the woman out of her wits. "I am quite well now," she added, as she sat down on a chair the guard provided. "We need to talk. Someone attacked me this night in my quarters, a black-clad hooded figure, and he was in possession of a clear glass vial with a greenish fluid. You can tell me what you know freely, or I can extract it from you." She shrugged. "Either way I shall know. We are now orbiting <name?>, and a large explosion occurred. I have no doubt you know what is down there. I have a new CTSO, I am sure he would love to 'talk' to you if you do not wish to talk to me. I assure you, he will be less friendly than I have been now. Talk truth and I may allow you a few luxuries."

"Activate the personal cloaking device and scan the specified area." L'Ola looked through all of the readings. Anything out of the ordinary... Something caught her eye. She didn't recognise the emissions, and couldn't even begin to guess what substance would cause them. But it was definitely worth a guess that scanning for this would detect all the cloaks across the ship. She set up the scan parameters and instructed the computer to notify her when the scan was complete. "Computer, locate Lieutenant Carter." "Lieutenant Carter is in medical lab 1" Restricting access to the cloaking device, scan data, and the lab, L'Ola left the room and headed down to join the team working on the solution. "Are you sure?" "Of course I am sure." L'Ola entered the medical lab. "How's it going?" "Well we've discovered something, we're just not certain exactly what it is." Jason Carter replied. He motioned for L'Ola to look at their results. "This definitely indicates organic matter. But all of our scans have remained inconclusive." "Is there anything we can find out about it?" "Well, Ensign Stokes came up with an idea..." "Instead of looking at the overall picture, we could try recognising components. I think that this solution is actually a mixture of solutions." L'Ola nodded, "That sounds plausible, let's try it." Half an hour later they knew exactly what they were looking at, but were just as confused as before. "It just doesn't make sense. It's like putting nitrogen into air." Jason read out the list of substances again. "Vulcan blood, a selection of enzymes, endorphins, adrenaline, and some other chemicals commonly found in the body." "Well even if we don't know why this would be used, we've got some information. I'll send the information to the Commodore." L'Ola said. "Scan complete. Results are available to Commander Kanz in science lab 2." L'Ola looked round at the people with her, "I need to go and sort that out. Do some research." She walked as far as the door. "See if you can find out anything at all about possible effects of these chemicals." She left the room and went back to science lab 2. She'd only been there half a minute when she started making calls. "Kanz to Ramsden, please can you come to see me as soon as possible. I need to discuss certain areas of the ship with you." "Kanz to Sonak, Commodore, that scan you asked for, well I have positive results." OOC: Sorry it's taken so long for me to post this bit I seem to be really busy at the moment. Can't wait for September when things calm down again

"Sonak here," Sonak called. She was still standing before Kate's cell, watching the woman, who had not yet responded to her questions. "Go ahead."
She listened quietly to the science officer's detailed report. "So what are the concequences of the contents of that vial?" she wondered aloud. Despite being a doctor herself, she had no idea what this combination of substances could do to someone. Scans had not shown the substance in her bloodstream nor in her tissues, thus she assumed that the attacker had not had the chance to inject her with it....
She looked back at Kate, whose blank expression was still carefully maintained, but Sonak could pick up a somewhat guilty emotion from her. "You sent this man," she accused, "now, I am not barbaric. If you tell me what you know, willingly, then I will arrange for you to see your daughter, IF you work with us, and IF your husband agrees. If not, I will see to it that he receives sole custody of the child. Dare me, if you like."
<Kate>
"Ms Kanz, any progress on the personal cloaking system? Can we replicate it and make use of it ourselves, when we beam down on our target planet?"
<Kanz>

"It should be possible to replicate more cloaking devices, but as we haven't had time to do a test run so I can't make any promises on a time scale."
"Understood. I'll let you get on with it. Keep me updated. Sonak out."
L'Ola looked down at the cloaking device in her hand and began setting up parameters for replicating.
*If I read through this one more time I'll crack*
"Do you think it will work?"
Jenna shrugged, "Should do, but then it's quite complicated technology."
"Guess we should try it then." L'Ola stretched out her arms and yawned. She checked the time. "Didn't realise it was that late."
"I can try to finish this off for you if you want." Jenna offered.
"Sounds good. See you tomorrow."
L'Ola walked out the lab and dropped the cloaking device she was still carrying. "Oops, that's not good. Hope it's strong enough."
When she got back to her quarters she checked the cloak was still working. "Can't have done any damage then."

Later that day, Sonak sat dozing in her ready room. Things had been extremely quiet, despite being in the heart of Romulan Territory. Yet their guard seemed to take their job seriously, they were told to defend the much smaller vessel, and so they did. Not that the Vesuvius was exactly harmless, she had good firepower and good defensive and aggressive technologies. Her night had again been a sleepless one and so since it was very quiet, the soft humming of the deckplates had lulled her into a light sleep. She nearly jumped when the doors to her ready room opened, and emitted Claire and Lena. Normally, despite being asleep, she would sense if someone quietly approached. Rubbing the sleep from her eyes, she looked up at the two women. Both were radiating happiness, but Sonak only saw it, but sensed nothing. "What can I do for you?" she asked, waiting for them to tell her. Claire and Lena exchanged a glance of worry, usually their CO had already guessed it when the both of them entered their office with an idea or suggestion or something else. Combined with her startled expression, they knew something was amiss. "Well," Lena started, suddenly unsure of what to say, "I have proposed to Claire, and we wish to get married." Sonak smiled brightly. "Now that is a splendid idea," she said, "when would you like to get wed?" <Claire, fill this in please > "That soon? We will need plenty preparations. Please, tell me more details." She sat up in her chair, and invited the two women to sit down, and tell her exactly how they had their wedding in mind. It had to be soon, since she expected major trouble in the near future. <Claire> She jumped yet again when Fox entered her readyroom, looking somewhat troubled. "Commander?" she querried, as she invited him, too, to sit down. He may as well listen to Claire's story too. A wedding would certainly lift morale aboard the ship. <Fox>

OOC: This is a bit of a back post.
The commander picked himself up off the floor of the transporter room. He looked out the window at the expanding dust cloud around where the test site lay. Looking over at the transporter officer he made a mental note for meratorious promotion of this officer. Next to the cheif stood his first officer.
"Report," he ordered wincing slightly as he peeled the disrupter out of his burned hand.
"The explosion knocked on of our satillites into a higher orbit. It's anomaly core has destabilised and a tear in subspace is forming."
"We may have bigger problems on our hands then a spacial anomaly. Keep the scans going, I have a feeling we're not alone. I'll be in the medical bay."
The subordinate nodded as his commander walked out the room. ~not alone? who else would be here?~ he wondered.
~vesuvius brig~
"You sent this man," she accused holding up a padd with a picture on it, "now, I am not barbaric. If you tell me what you know, willingly, then I will arrange for you to see your daughter, IF you work with us, and IF your husband agrees. If not, I will see to it that he receives sole custody of the child. Dare me, if you like."
Kate broke down in sobs, her controlled calm visage crumbled. She looked up at Sonak through a veil of tears.
"You wouldn't believe me even if I told you the truth," she said then buried her face in her hands.
"You may be right, but whether or not I do is up to me," Sonak said coldly, "All you have to do is talk."
Kate looked up at her this time through her fingers.
"He's probably my replacment. Beyond that I wouldn't know him from Spock."
<Sonak>
~Forerunners realm~
"The gateway is opening. Our time is now," the tall council member said urgently. Watching the expanding vortex on the monitor.

J'Rall closed his eyes and tensed as the green flash of the disruptor filled his vision. ~so this is what it feels like~ he assumed the feeling he was experiencing was the disintigration of the beam. When all didn't go black he slowly opened one of his eyes. In front of him was a totally new room and he was now standing on a platform. At the base of the platform stood a uniformed officer and behind him was another officer at a control panel. J'Rall opened his other eye as he recognised the uniforms ~Starfleet~. He suddenly realised how foolish he must look cowering at nothing on the transporter platform.
"Professor J'Rall, I am Lt.Commander Nick Martens Cheif Engineer. Welcome aboard the USS Vesuvius - A." The man at the base of the platform said.
"Did you just say Vesuvius?" J'Rall said moving down off the platform and towards the man.
"Yes, why?" Nick asked.
"We're in grave danger. We must leave immediatly. Do they know we're here?"
"Who? Only the Empress knows we are here. Nothing could have detected us anyway as we're cloaked in somthing you Romulans can't detect."
J'Rall looked into the engineers eyes with urgency. "I need to speak the your commander please, as soon as possible."
"I'll let her know, but for now I'll show you to your quarters."
"Thank you," J'Rall said.
A few minutes and a turbolift ride later the two neared the guest quarters. The doors parted to reveal a elegantly furnished room which looked out at the underside of the saucer section. Off in the distance hung the planet now sporting a "black eye" so to speak. J'Rall moved to the window and reflected for a moment.
"To think I almost died there," he muttered to himself. He realised the Commander was still standing near the door. "Thank you Commander, Nick was it? I await meeting your Captain soon."
"Until then sir," Nick said with a nod and walked out the door.
~Romulan Battleship Parn~
"Hold still K'ran," the doctor said grabbing the commander and shoving him back onto the biobed.
"I'm fine," K'ran seethed grabbing the doctor by the collar.
"I havn't repared all the scarring though," he protested.
"Will I get an infection?"
"Well no."
"Will I be in pain?"
"No."
"Then I am fine," the Commander said pushing the doctor aside. He hopped off the bed and grabbed his leather cloak. The doors parted and he disapeared from view down the corridor.
-Minutes later on the command deck-
K'ran strode into his office and moved to the replicator. He muttered a couple words in Romulan and a drink soon apeared. He moved past the mirror and noticed his new scars on his face, neck and hands. He traced the edge of the one on his face slowly with his finger whilst a menacing smile crept across his mouth.

This is it, Claire thought nervously. Claire stood glimmering of happyness next to her fiancΓ© -gosh, what a word- who was eager to report their wedding.
Yes, she likes the idea! she screamed out in her thoughts as she heard Sonak agree.
Sonak smiled brightly. "Now that is a splendid idea," she said, "when would you like to get wed?"
Lena poked Claire with her elbow. "Your turn, Shiny," she whispered.
"Er, tomorrow," Claire tried to sound convincing, which was difficult, not becuase she didn't mean it, on the contrary, but because she wanted to scream out loud she was going to marry Lena. Of course, that would be unappropriate...
The commodore asked for more details, but still seemed to agree. The counsellor was just opening her mouth, when commander Fox entered. As Sonak motioned them to continue, Claire and Lena told their plans...

Sonak wondered if the woman's emotions were real or feigned. However, she found herself quite unable to tell. Writing it off to her recent experience, she continued to gaze at the sobbing woman. "You are lying," she bluffed, "Spock is a well known figure. I am quite sure you can tell a Romulan from a Vulcan. There is a distict difference between the species. Now, the truth, or I will carry out my threat. One little conversation to the custody boards, and you will never see your little girl again." She doubted she could actually bring herself to put deed to her words, but she had no doubt that Nick would quite agree with her, on the custody grounds.
"And be quick about it, we have no time to lose. As you may or may not know, we are in the heart of the Romulan Empire. Should they choose to conqueror us, I doubt you will be safe among them."

"Are you ready, love?" Lena asked her lover.
"For you, always," Claire smiled back and finished with a soft kiss on her lips.
This time Lena wore a bordeaux dress, in the fashion of the earthly Middle Ages. Claire too wore such a dress, only a dark blue one and another model. But that was the point. History was also one of the things Claire loved to study, because it had to do with humans and where they came from. History is part of culture, and culture of people. And people were exactly what Claire was so interested in. And Lena, well she had many interests, but loved most of all, creating and reviving romantic moments. This was one of them, maybe the best.
Claire looked around in the hall. On the high arched roof shadows dansed, driven by the fire in the fireside. Her steps sounded on the marble floor as she walked around the enormous round table.
"You just keep surprising me, my love," Claire said in delightment. Lena giggled.
Then the large wooden doors opened. Sonak and Fox entered, also both dressed like nobles from the Middle Ages, but Claire had expected no less.
"You girls ready?" The commodore asked.
"Yes, Commodore!" Lena and Claire answered in unison, which was followed by a completely expected: "Please call me Sonak, you're not working, you're marrying!"
"Fox, you got the rings?" Lena asked.
"Relax," he must've heard the little nervousness in her voice, though she would never admit it, "everything's fine, they're right here in my sleeve," he said while squeezing in one of his gigantic sleeves.
"Then we're all ready," Claire said, "let's go."

OOC: This takes place shortly after the wedding. So begins the end of our new ship Nick sat on the bridge, again his watch due to the sleep schedules of the staff. Not that he minded, it was rare that the chief engineer had a chance to sit in the ergonomically designed captains chair. He rubbed the leather arm rests and refocused his gaze to the padd he was writing on in the dimmed light of nightshift. He got half way through a paragraph when his thoughts were interupted by an urgent beeping from the Opps station. He turned and looked at the on duty officer. The officer stood there with a befuddled look on his face. "I'm detecting a rather large spacial anomaly in the proximity of one of the Romulan satillites. It looks like the satillite was damaged by the explosion on the planet." "On screen," Nick said placing his padd at his side and standing up. He took a step towards the screen and tugged at his ruffled tunic. On the screen a large blue vortex had quickly swirled and opened. Out of it surged vast ammounts of radiation and unknown particles in a chaotic fountain. Nick reached down and tapped the comm button on the command chair. "Martens to senior staff. We have a situation. Meet me in briefing room 1 in 5 minutes." "Keep scanning," He told the officer. ~minutes later in the lounge~ The staff had assembled in the lounge. Most were quite confused as to what was going on but quickly caught on as they looked out the window at the large swirling giant. "It just appeared?" Sam asked. "Apparently the micro black hole used by the Romulans on the satillite destabilised. It in turn sucked the released energy from the explosion into itself and caused a tear in subspace. We didn't detect it until a few minutes ago." "Does it pose any danger to our ship?" Sonak asked intently. "Not that I can see. We're far enough away that it shouldn't matter." Just as he finished his comment the comm beeped. Sonak reached over and answered it. "Ma'am we've just picked up the Romulan ship we're supposed to track. She's cloaked on the other side of the vortex." "Cloaked? Then how can we see them?" Sam asked. "We don't know sir, they're just a faint image. Take a look for yourselves, I'm feeding the images to your monitor in there." Up on the screen an image apeared of a faded Romulan cruiser. ~Command Deck of the Pran~ "Commander your hunch was right. We're picking up a Federation ship in the sector," the Reman operations officer said. "On screen." K'ran said standing from his chair. "Why are they faded?" "It seems that they too are cloaked. I would gather the particles in the sector are minorly disrupting cloak functions. This would mean that they can see us as well." "Very well, disengage the cloak and arm shields and weapons. It's time to teach these spys a lesson."

"Looks almost as if we are staring at a ghost," Sonak muttered, and shuddered. Around her, the senior staff was gazing at the image on the viewscreen that was piped down from the bridge. She gazed at Nick. "What are we seeing around the planet? Is it just a gateway, a wormhole or are we looking at something else?"
<martens>
She then turned to Samuel. "Keep your eyes on those Romulans and let our escort know about them. We do not know if they see it too." She rubbed her arms as a chill crept over her body, one that alarmed her. Something was wrong, very wrong, but she could not determine what.
<Ramsden>
She noticed that Jatan, who was sitting on her left, was gazing intently at her, but if he was trying to say something telepathically, she could not sense it. Normally she could sense his most basic affection for her but now it was almost like being blind - and she knew first hand how that felt - and it scared her. The answers kate had given her were not much of use either, but she would keep her promise. After she had talked it over with Nick, and if with his approval, she would arrange for the woman to see her daughter.
"What is it?" she asked quietly, bending towards her CMO, "sickbay is ready just in case, right? I am taking command of this module. I want you on another one, with the children, if possible. Leave Caldwell on this module, it is time he learns how to deal with a sickbay as a doctor instead of a nurse."
<Reckus>

"Sir the escort, it's gone!" The communications officer blurted.
"Are you sure?" Sam asked looking over the shoulder of the officer.
"They were just there a few mins ago and all I'm seeing now is debris. We didn't detect any explosions, nothing. It's like they just fragmented into nothingness."
Sam looked up at the viewscreen of the Tertiary command bridge. For some reason he prefered to have his duty shift on this particular bridge due to its smaller size and feel. There on the screen floated the shattered remains of the warbird escourt.
"Scan debris for...." his sentence cut short as the red lights of tactical alert came to life. The ship rocked back and forth as a volley of plasma impacted the hull.
"Damage to decks 2, 3. Hull breach on Deck 6, emergency bulkheads in place. Sir we didn't even see them coming."
"Who?" Sam whirled around to the tactical officer.
"The Romulan Battleship, she's on top of us. The anomaly must be interfering with our sensors." The ship shook less violently than before as the shields were now online.
=/\= Sonak to Ramsden. What the devil is going on?=/\=
"We're under attack ma'am. I suggest we got to MVAM as soon as possible."
=/\= Very well. Make the broadcast Mr. Ramsden. Sonak out. =/\= Sam leaned over to the command chair and hit a button.
"All senior staff to your posts. This is not a drill. Computer Initiate Multi Vehicle Assault Mode."
"MVAM initilized. Separation in 1 minute."
~shuttle bay~
Sonak rushed into the shuttlebay with T'Kimi and Sevus in tow. Shortly behind her was Lena and Claire each donning one of the other twins and Marie Dobson with her two kids. Quickly they loaded the kids into the shuttle and prepared for departure.
"You take care of them," Sonak said to Claire.
"We will. Take care Commodore, hope to see you soon." She said giving Sonak a hug. T'Kimi and Sevus ran up and joined the hug.
"You behave you two and take care of the little ones," Sonak said choking back tears.
"We will," they responded in unison.
The Commodore took a step back and the kids ran back into the shuttle. The door slowly started closing and Claire waved over her shoulder. Seconds later the shuttle lurched off the deck of the bay and flew throught the blue forcefield. Just as it cleared the small shuttle jumped into high warp.
Sonak stood and watched the small flash of light. A fog had surrounded her as she watched them leave. ~will I see them again?~ she asked herself. The ship suddenly lurched reminding of the duty at hand.

As soon as the command for separation was given Sonak asked Fox to take command of the second part.
Fox nodded saying "Yes Ma'am" and immediately Fox rose up from his chair, exited the primairy bridge and headed to the secondairy command bridge taking the necessary officers with him.
A moment after he got there and settled in the Vesuvius started to seperate. As soon as the secondairy part was loose from the rest it had to evade some shots from the Romulan battleship, but got hit by 1 shot. Making it shake quite violently.

The Vesuvius was hit by a volley of shots, the blasts lighting up the shields in a coruscating show of energy, rippling over her hull in a disconcerting crawling fashion.
Several seams split along the length of the ship, to the captain of the battlecruiser's delight, but the smug smirk was swiftly erased when it became apparent that the Federation vessel was not yet destroyed.
The three sections of the Vesuvius, Sonak's, Fox's and Ramsden's, all shot away from each other and began evading the Romulan's weapons with greater ease. Sonak and Fox were keeping a conservative distance away from the Romulan, treating it with caution and respect, but the tertiary section was moving much closer to the enemy, at one point flying straight through it's nacelles in an exhibition of incredible piloting ability.
"Sonak to Ramsden. What are you doing?"
Ramsden's face didn't come up on Sonak's viewscreen, rather, she only got his voice. She frowned ever so slightly, as much as she could, being Vulcan.
"Sorry. Bit busy here Commodore. I just found out that these things have auxhillary control columns."
Sonak and Jatan Reckus looked at each other, wry amusement evident on the latter's face.
"Well, he did use to be a pilot Doctor."
"That may be so, but only he could find a joystick by accident and play at a time like this."

Sonak beamed as she watched the two young women before her exchange their vows. It had been a pleasant ceremony, even though the dress she was wearing was little comfortable, in fact, the fabric was itching and the computer had misjudged her size, but she had not wanted to make a fuss of it.
"Then by the power bestowed upon me by Starfleet Command, I now pronounce you eh....married!" She had hesitated only a second, for husband and wife was not quite appropriate in this instance, as the couple was consisting not of male and female, but of two females. Claire and Lena stood beaming with joy, kissing passionately as Sonak announced that they could kiss the bride.
However, there was little time to celebrate, as they were in the heart of 'enemy' territory, and hell was just about to break loose. Later, back on the bridge, Samuel told her off because he was busy, but by now she knew that, when the holograph said he was busy, he should be left alone to concentrate.
MVAM was successfully achieved, but now Sonak had another worry. The just married couple was taking the children to safety, and the crew had been divided over the three sections. Fox was in command of the second module, and Nick of the third. Harper had been injured during the previous attack and was recouperating in sickbay. The shady Romulan vessel they had seen earlier had come through the gateway and its powerful weapons systems were lashing the much smaller ship.
While highly maneuverable, the small Nova class vessel was no match for the huge Romulan ship. Sonak was thrown off her feet when the next volley hit the primary module. She had sent Jatan down to sickbay, even though he had wanted to stay on the bridge. The tertiary module was set up as triage, and she had sent him there, promising they would meet for dinner when the ship got back together again. "Go," she said, literally pushing him towards the door, then kissed him. "I love you, now go. Before transporters are offline and we have to risk getting you there by shuttle."
<Reckus>
"Sonak to Fox and Martens, prepare for attack pattern gamma. We must not allow that ship to get away. Signal our escorts and tell them what we are planning to do."
~And let's hope that Fortune is with us.~
She gazed at the young Bajoran navigations officer. "Mr Marill, fire at will, evasive maneuvres!"

~~Tertiary section~~
Nick sat in the command chair watching the sheer joy that Ramsden was having with the Aux control system. Everyone on the bridge was gripping their respective chairs or consols in an effort to combat the inertial dampner lag caused by his flying.
=/\=Sonak to Fox and Martens, prepare for attack pattern gamma. We must not allow that ship to get away. Signal our escorts and tell them what we are planning to do.=/\=
"Hold onto your butts," Sam yelled from the nav station. His hand guided the joystick ever so gracefully, occasionally his fingers tapping the weapon firing buttons.
Nick looked over at L'Ola who was looking a bit green sitting in the chair next to him. He smiled and placed his hand on hers. He noticed she wore a device around her waste. ~oh right, our friends cloaking device. She must have been working on it before the emergency~
=/\= target to these coordinates=/\= Fox said over the comm. =/\= We've almost got them where we want em=/\=
A flurry of torpedoes and phaser fire hit the shields of the Romulan cruiser. Suddenly a large flash filled the screen as a torpedo impacted the hull through the shields.
"Tally Ho!" Sam again quipped from the con and fired off another volley.
~~Pran Command Deck~~
K'ran sat in his chair seething at the small ship which should have been defeated. It had turned into a much bigger problem than he first anticipated. ~three ships in one, what will they think of next~ The deck shuddered under an series of impacts. A rain of sparks fell from the cieling next to the science stations.
"Hull breach on numerous decks, casualty reports coming in. Aft weapons systems and sheilds offline."
K'ran slammed his fist into his chair and let out a roar. This wasn't supposed to happen. The council had said the Federation ship would be no match for him. How wrong they had been.
"Engines failing, we're slowing down." Again K'ran slammed his fist into his chair.
"Initiate self-destruct." He ordered.
"We cannot. The core just went offline." At that K'ran let out another roar. The lights began dimming as power slowly drained.
"Wait theres somthing happening with the rift, standby," the tactical officer said. "Theres a fleet aproaching, looks like Forerunner if your information is correct."
~~Primary Section~~
Sonak sat in her command chair watching the movements of her crew. She beamed with pride as they'd just defeated a Romulan cruiser with few casualties.
"Good job gentlemen. Lets get this ship back together."
~~Tertiary section~~
Sam watched the other two sections on the veiw screen slowly they manouvered into position to begin re-integration. Fox's section looked rather sleek with the elegant nacels. It slowly moved towards the Saucer section. He heard Nick breathe a sigh of relief from behind him. He turned around and smiled at the engineer.
Out of no where every consol in the command center began belching out alerts.
"High velocity impact iminent," The computer warned. Sam whirled around just in time to see the secondary section get ripped apart by impact with a ship twice it's size. The nacels whirled chaoticly released from the hold of their pylons. One of the nacels spun and impacted the engines on the saucer section disabling it. A cloud of debris showered out of the hole in the saucer.
"Emergency manouvers, pattern Delta Four." Nick blurted. Sam quickly grabbed the joystick again and propelled the ship away from the danger of collision. A smaller ship began pursuit of the Vesuvius Engineering section.
"I'm counting 14 ships," L'Ola said from her seat, "all unknown configuration."
The ship jolted from a volly of weapons fire. Sparks flew from the engineering station.
"Warp drive offline. We can't run very far," Sarah said from the back of the bridge.
The ship swung around and passed their pursuer with a spread of torpedos. Off in the distance they could see the saucer section being tractored into the underbelly of a much larger mothership. Three more ships broke from the fleet and joined the chase of the smaller Vesuvius Tertiary section.
"Hull breaches on all decks. Life support failing. Casualties on all decks." The opps officer called out just before his consol exploded tossing him into the end of a jagged fallen ceiling beam.
'"We could try and lose them in the atmosphere of the planet," Sam said glancing back over his shoulder. Nick nodded in agreement. The ship rapidly changed course and headed for the planet.
"Brace for impact," Nick said over the comm. No sooner had he said that the ship shook from the atmosphere. He glanced down at his readout. It showed the ships still in pursuit. A torpedo traced quickly from the lead ship towards the Vesuvius.
"Sam!" Nick blurted,
"I see it, I see it!"
The ship lurched as the torpedo impacted the impulse ramdrives. The Helm station exploded in a hail of sparks. Sam brushed the bits off his lap and looked up just as a mountain appeared in the viewer. It loomed closer and closer as the ship hurtled towards it.

*WARNING! BLATANT GENERATIONS RIP AHEAD!*
Samuel looked out of the viewer as the tertiary section hurtled ever more downwards.
"Ooooooooooh... s hit..."

Sonak watched in horror as she saw the tertiary module spin bow over stern out of control. "Helm, match their course and engage tractorbeam!" she cried, but knew instantly it was already too late. THe tertiary module had entered the atmosphere of the planet, and was doomed to crash. She looked away from the screen, not wanting to see it crash.
From behind her, OPS reported that they were not going anywhere, their engines had been disabled by the last barrage of torpedoes. OPS did report that the shuttlecraft containing the children and their guardians had safely landed in the mountains, undetected by the Romulans.
"Giant Romulan vessel approaching!" Tactical suddenly cried, alarm in her voice, "class of ship unknown, no match in database!"
A moan escaped Sonak's lips. The debris of the secondary module were still visible off their port bow. The primary module she was on was fairing no better. The ship was being kept together mostly by forcefields and shielding, the only part being truly intact being the bridge. The ship shuddered as a tractorbeam was engaged and took them in its hold. She knew instantly that trying to fight the tractorbeam would rip them apart. "Evacuate!" she cried, "to the escape pods! Go! I will fight them as long as I can."
"Impossible," Marill cried from OPS. In the last jolt the girl that had been handling ops had been thrown off her feet and lay unconscious on the deck. Marill had taken her position, as helm was now useless. "We cannot leave the bridge ma'am."
Sonak looked around and up at him and saw the fear on his face. She got up and walked around the station to see for herself. There was no life support anywhere on the ship, save for the bridge. It seemed now as if it was almost intended that the bridge crew survived. Further scans, as far as systems were still operational, showed that the people on the bridge were indeed the only survivors on the primary module.
<nick take it from here:D>
<<PC survivors with me on the primary module: Andrei Marill, the rest is NPC. Other survivors crashed with the tertiary module.....see first post on C thread for list>>

OOC: this happens just before the destruction of the secondairy module, as i was not quite finished yet, cause i was at work. And well work comes 1st but wanted to post something >As soon as the secondairy part was loose from the >rest it had to evade some shots from the Romulan >battleship, but got hit by 1 shot. Making it shake quite >violently. The shaking of the module made Fox fall out his chair, on the ground. "Damage report!" he ordered while getting up again. "Shields holding, now at 76%." Came the report "Minor casualties on some of the decks, nothing serious." Immediately came a call from enigeering over the intercom. "Sir, that hit caused some damage to our engines, nothing major yet, trying to repair it, but we can't go to warp." "Ok, thank you." Fox replied Fox order to manouvre toward the primairy module, keeping some distance from the battleship, but while doing so the secondairy module got hit again. "Shields 47%." Was shouted over the bridge. The main screen showed their fire at the battleship also did have some effect. Some fire was visible at the lower parts. Then suddenly out of nowhere a huge ship appeared, having a course right to the secondairy module. {We can't evade this thing.} Fox thought while trying to contact the primairy module to request emergency beamout. But he was too late. The huge ship rammed the secondairy module, leaving it in a million pieces.

"Try it now," Nick yelled over the roar of the atmosphere. He now stood at the engineering station franticly rerouting power to engines. Sam pulled back on the joystick and crossed his fingers. The ship jerked to the left sending some officers spralling.
"I think we're going to make it," Sam yelled back from the conn.
The Vesuvius hurtled towards the ground at untold speed. Clouds blurred past, even a flock of native birds flew by and were sumarily pulverized by the ships superheated wake. All the while the ground grew closer and closer as did the edge of the mountains.
"Brace for impact!" Nick yelled and jumped into the command chair. He grabbed L'Olas hand and looked into her eyes. ~we'll be ok~ he sent to her. Time suddenly slowed to a crawl as the two sat there. The smoke swirling around them slowed and everything turned into slow motion. Sparks left trails of orange and red like those of old earth fireworks. Just as quickly as the moment started it ended.
The ship clipped one of the mountains shearing off a portion of the starboard side. Rocks and metal sprayed as the engineering section now twirled to the valley below. It impacted the ground and slid thousands of feet leaving a long burning crater of debris and dead forrest. The remaining bridge crew flew forward from the impact. Chairs, their occupents, consols and part of the surrounding walls catapulted forward towards the viewer.
~~Pran~~
"We're being hailed," A Reman at the communications center reported.
"On screen," K'ran said.
"May the timeline favor you Commander K'ran," A static filled viewer said. On it K'ran could make out one of the council members.
"Thank you councilman. Welcome to the Alpha Quadrant, more apropriatly welcome to the Milky Way Galaxy and home."
~~Tertiary Module~~
Nick coughed in the dust. He hefted the command chair and a beam off his back and stood up in the debris which once was the bridge. He stood 4 feet from the viewer and 15 from where he sat moments earlier. A few feet beside him Sam crawled out from undernieth a bulkhead totally unharmed.
"Somedays I envy you," Nick said shaking his head. Concern suddenly grasped his heart, he couldn't see L'Ola. He began rustling through panels and debris in search of her. Then he heard a soft moan from under the view screen. He quickly made his way over to the spot and motioned to Sam for assistance with a fallen cieling beam. Under it lay L'Ola.
"Hey there," she said weakly. Blood trickled down her forehead and stained her blue tunic, a large chunk of metal portruding from her shoulder. "I'm sorry."
Nick knelt next to her and held her in his arms.
"Sorry for what?"
"I didn't tell you," came the faint reply. Tears began forming in his eyes.
"It's alright, take your time," he stroked her hair gently.
"I.....love...." her head lolled to the side. Nick pulled her into his chest, sobs overtook him and he began weeping. He stroked her hair slowly and soflty whispered through the tears, "Everything is going to be ok, everything will be alright."
Sam stood next to him a look of sorrow on his face. Behind them arose a clatter as the sound of a person came near. Sam picked up a pipe and moved next to the door. A figure drew near and Sam took a swing just missing the Doctors head.
"Whoa! Watch it! You could put out an eye," He scolded and limped to one side of the doorway. Sam noted a bloody mark left by a rather large piece of shrapnel in his leg. Jate looked ahead and saw Nick rocking back and forth holding L'Ola in his arms. He pulled out his medical scanner and moved next to him.
"She's still alive, barely. It looks like she's in a Betazoid healing trance. I don't know if she'll make it though." He pulled out a hypospray and placed it to her neck. "This should make her more comfortable. Theres nothing more I can do, sickbay is destroyed."
A loud humm filled the room. A green glow started forming in the center of the bridge. Nick looked down at L'Ola and remembered the cloaking device. ~this'll be better than them getting you my love~ he thought to her. He placed the necklace he gave her in her hand and pressed the activate button on the cloak. Quickly her figure swirled out of sight into the realm of bent light. Nick just knelt there, the barrel of a rifle pressed against his neck.
"You're coming with us," One of the Reman foot soldiers said. Nick stood and noticed his friends were in similar situations.

4-year old T'Kimi held her baby sister, as Claire piloted the shuttle into the mountain range of the unknown planet. Beside her, her twin held their baby brother. She knew he was scared, and so was she. Opposite of them, an unknown woman sat holding a child, while Lena held another. Sevus, having inherited his mother's sense of telepathy, felt slightly dizzy as the intense feelings of fear overwhelmed him. yet, he managed to keep his charge silent. The infant had been fed and changed and seemed oblivious to the danger they were in for now.
The twins felt the bump as the shuttle landed safely. They cheered once, and only once, for sound coud betray them also. He watched, as the counselor fiddled with the controls to engage the cloaking device, which the chief engineer had installed just prior to departure.
"Can I go outside?" one of the Dobson children asked, but his mother shook her head. "I want to go outside," the child whined. The mother cuffed him soundly. "Silence," she said softly, then pointed at the twins, "do you hear them whining? No, take example from them." She held out her arms to T'Kimi. "Here let me take the little one for a while. You must be tired child."
T'Kimi nodded. Having the care of a baby was too great a responsebility. Neither she, nor any of the other children, understood really what was going on, but one did not need to be empathic to feel the sense of danger. "Aunt Claire..." T'Kimi started softly, "when will mother join us?"
Claire turned sharply, and T'Kimi did not miss the flicker of uncertainty that passed the woman's expression. "I don't know," Claire replied, then peered at the sensors. Lena joined them, after setting the child she was holding to the ground. She gasped, as she saw the results of the scan. "Mary, take the children to the back of the shuttle, and give them someting calming. THe three of us need to discuss what we do now."
Mary Dobson nodded, herded the children to the back, and told them to remain absolutely quiet. She promised them she would be back later, and if they remained quiet, they would get whatever they liked for supper. With that promise, she went back forwards. "What is it?" she asked.
Claire pointed at the screen. "The tertiary module has crashed, and the Romulans are upon them. For now we are undetected, and if our cloak remains functioning, we can hold out here for a very long while. But look..." She pointed at the debris in space. "Scans show that that was the secondary module." She looked stricken as she grabbed for her wife's hand. "Fox was on that module, as were several other crewmembers. There is no sign of the primary module. There are no debris, but there is also no trace of where she might have disappeared to. I am not reading it anywhere on the planet's surface, so it is not likely that it has crashed."
Dobson nodded, looking equally stricken. "We must not let the children know," she said, her voice barely a whisper, "before we rejoin them, we must appear calm. At least we know who has survived the crash." She swallowed back a sob, her husband had been on the secondary module.
Lena squeezed Claire's hand. "We will wait for what will happen. If we are lucky, we escape with the children. And if we are fortunate, we will find our commanding officer alive, so that we can return her children to her. If not, we will find their godparents."
"I am godmother to Sevus and T'Kimi," Claire whispered, "since the passing of their original godfather, Sonak had asked me if I would care for them, should something happen to her. Jatan is godfather to the infants. If we can find him, we will bring the twins into his care, should Sonak not be found."
The three women sat in silence for a long while, wondering what was to come.

The ship rocked violently, as the beam pulled the ship into wherever it was pulled into, and misjudged the distance a tad. Sonak was thrown off her feet and landed flat on her back, wind knocked out of her. She lay wheezing for a moment, and from the corner of her eye saw about a dozen Romulans beam in.
"Get up," the most senior of them told her, pointing his disruptor at her. Sonak shook her head, still gasping for breath. She could not Γ‘nd try to breathe, Γ‘nd focus on getting to her feet, and she hoped the Romulan understood. Apparently he did, for he motioned two juniors to help her. The two roughly hauled her to her feet, holding her up between the two of them.
The senior, who was obviously in charge, cuffed them soundly. "Careful!" he barked, "she is not to be harmed. If I see so much as a bruise on her, you will answer for any of them." He turned his attention back to her. "Such a beautiful face," he commented, as he cupped her chin in his hand, moving her face from side to side, as if he were judging cattle. "You would make a fine consort my dear."
Sonak stood stoically gazing ahead, ignoring his taunts, but her eyes flashed anger. ~Oh Jatan~ she thought, understanding by now that her thoughts would never reach him ~I hope you are safe my love. Take care of my children, keep them safe~ She moved her eyes to meet those of the Romulan, and gazed into them. Another Romulan moved up, a medic she saw. The man roughly moved up her sleeve, applied a tourniquet and skillfully found the vein in her arm.
Sonak flinched as she felt the needle penetrate the skin, she had little pleasant memories of needles recently, and she wondered what the Romulan wanted with her blood. As if guessing her thoughts, the Romulan commander replied. "Information is what we desire my dear, and you will provide it to us. Your blood may tell us a few things, but you will inform us of the rest."
"Never," Sonak replied, shifting her gaze once more. She felt something press against her throat, and heard the hiss as the fluid was shot home. Suddenly she felt very dizzy, and far off she heard Marill cry out in anger. She sank to the deck, the two juniors still holding her up, as she did so.
When she woke up, she found herself in tiny, but clean quarters. Apparently someone had taken it upon him or herself to wash her and give her clean clothing. Her communicator was gone, but that was no real surprise. When she checked herself over, she found that she was still unharmed, as the commander had ordered. "But for how long?" she wondered aloud, "how much time has passed since we were captured?" She had no idea how long she had been unconscious, or what she may have told the Romulans. She had little memory of what happened, since the tertiary module had crashed, and the secondary had been destroyed. She did remember, that she was no longer able to sense the other's thoughts, but she assumed that she had been administered with a drug that prevented her from sensing them.
<sam, I think its your turn about now...>
