He watched as the children played their games .. The 'end of term' celebrations were going well, pupils were showing off their certificates, prizes were going to be awarded later, but for now, it was fun and .....
"Captain ?"
...... games ... Several parents had been persuaded to take part in games too, and it was obvious that Carl wasn't going to get away with standing to one .....
"Captain .. Are you alright ?"
....side, as Vanessa was going to make sure he took part in every race she coul .....
Carl suddenly realized he'd been addressed. The turbo-lift had halted, the doors opened .. Snapping out of his, daydream, memory, he couldn't say which, he straightened his uniform as he stood straight.
"Sorry Crewman .... Yes I am fine. I was just ....."
"Understood Sir." the crewman said, stepping to one side to allow the Captain to leave the turbo-lift.
Walking toward Engineering, he was shocked to see the damage the lower decks had sustained. Lighting was minimal, emergency lighting still casting an eerie red glow over the corridors and crew running from one place to another.
The massive emergency bulkhead doors at the entrance to Engineering had been forced open, just wide enough to allow anti-grav sleds to pass through, some carrying spares and replacement equipment. Others, carrying injured, and, deceased ..
"Where's Commander McLean ?" he asked the first person he came across.
"Up there Captain." the man said, pointing toward the top of the four deck tall warp core, "He's trying to seal the breach."
"Thank you Lieutenant." Carl said.
"Scott ! ... How we doing ..." he shouted.
McLean waved, then handing something to his assistant, moved away from the noise so he could reply.
"Not good Captain ... We're looking at a days' work at best."
Carl jumped onto the maintenance lift, rising to the same level as McLean.
"Go see your Daughter Scott." Carl said, not making it an order, but not making it a request, either.
"Sir ... I'm needed here. There's so mu ......" Scott began, holding up a hand to silence Torek as he tried to interrupt, " ...... so much that needs to be done. I've spoken to Vanessa, she's OK. But I would appreciate it if you could go see her Capt .. Carl."
Torek hesitated ...He needed the ship repaired. That wasn't going to happen soon, but Scott could get maneuverability, shields, weapons, and most importantly, Life-Support, working to some, if not full capacity ..
"Do all you can to get propulsion on-line .. I'll go and speak to her now." Carl said, placing a hand on his friends shoulder for a second, "Try to get a Comm link established to Vanessa, she needs to know you are OK."
"Will do ... And ... Thank you." Scott said, turning as one of his staff yelled something.
Carl watched the activity for a moment, then headed for the corridor .. He needed to speak to a frightened young girl ..........

It took Carl almost fifteen minutes to reach deck eight, and McLean's quarters .. I took a further thirty seconds before he could bring himself to activate the chime ..
"Hello Captain."
"I'd like to speak to Vanessa if thats OK." Carl said.
"I'm Emma Cotteral. One of the school teachers, she's drawing a pictu ....."
"CARL !!!."
Torek didn't have time to react as the ten year old girl arrowed across the apartment and launched herself into his arms. It was all he could do to remain upright as she slammed into him.
"Where's my father .. What's happening ... What's going on ... Why have the lights gon ......"
Vanessa had a thousand questions and seemingly enough air in her small lungs to ask every single one of them. But emotion got the better of her. She began to cry, then sob uncontrollably .. Carl carried her into the room as Emma stood to one side.
He carefully sat down, making sure not to upset Vanessa's hold on him. He nodded to the teacher, silently allowing her to go to another room.
Vanessa couldn't control her sobbing, and Carl could only hold onto the young girl, stroking her hair and hoping she would begin to calm down.
It took almost ten minutes for Vanessa to relax enough so that Carl could re-assure her that her Father was safe and well, but the stress of the last few hours was too much for a ten year old to comprehend, and she began to sob once again ..
"Ca ... an ... Daddy ... com .. home now ple ... ase .." she asked.
"Yes ... I'll send him home soon sweetheart." Carl replied. almost heart-broken at her distress, determined to get Scott here as quickly as possible.
"OK .. Will you ple ... ase stay un .. til he gets home ?" Vanessa said, crying quietly into Carl's shoulder.
"Yes ..." Carl said, looking at Emma who had come from the other room, "Yes .. I'll stay until your Dad gets here."
Emma listened to the conversation from the door, Both adults listened in silence as Vanessa's sobbing subsided. Then eventually, her breathing slowed, and Carl knew she was asleep in his arms ... He stood as delicately as possible so not to waken her, then carried her to the bedroom. Placing her as gently as possible on the bed, he leaned forward and kissed Vanessa on the forehead.
Standing, he looked at Emma ..
"You are not to leave her .. Under ANY circumstances."
"Never Captain."
"OK .." Carl said. Then taking one last look at the sleeping Vanessa, left Scott's quarters and headed for the Bridge ..........

"Mister Marcus, you have the Bridge, I'm going to Engineering." As Marcus slid into the Command chair once again he replied. "Aye Sir." Marcus was watching and listening to all the communication from around the ship.
Ensign Hart reported from Ops "Sir i have lost the ODN line again. Main power to the bridge is failing." Marcus said to her "Bypass the ODN line from Secondary systems and reconnect to main power." As she did what he saw a warning light flashed on his console near him. Punching in a code he learned at the training class the light stopped blinking. If anyone went to look it would seem as a normal override.
Down in the lower decks A crewman was at a window when he saw the anomaly flare to life sucking in some debris. "Parker to bridge. I just saw the anomaly at bearing 248 mark 48 about 2000 kilometers away. I am at port 5 on deck 12."
Marcus thought that was nice the anomaly was back however they couldn't maneuver to the threshold to enter. Tapping his combadge =/\= Marcuse to Torek. Sir we have the anomaly 200 kilometers off our port side. What are your orders?"

Saryn had no need to imagine the contempt Paikea must be experiencing towards it; it was clearly visible through the displayed bodylanguage the officer maintained. Ignoring it, Saryn merely waited for him to speak up, keeping his features carefully neutral. Not even his eyes showed what he was thinking or feeling. At present, the Vulcan doctor was utterly unreadable.
"Doctor Saryn, I don't really know what you did to warrant time in the brig and frankly I do not care," Paikea said speaking to the Vulcan for the first time," I don't think you pose any threat to this ship and that being said I will leave you in the care of Commander Tintagel."
"Why, thank you for that vote of confidence," Saryn replied coldly, "or lack thereof. I am a doctor, I make no difference as to who my patients are. As such, I also do not appreciate being mentally attacked. I am filing a formal complaint against Commander Martens. Please have a word with him regarding his misconduct, as I was hurt in the process."
Saryn gained no verbal response to his statement, instead Paikea addressed the grey-skinned woman that was standing close by. A woman he addressed as Illito, thereby letting Saryn know they were fairly close if they were on a first-name basis.
"Illito, if he does anything or tries anything just knock him out with your phaser," Pai said with his trademark smirk," I'll be on the bridge where hopefully the Vulcan will let me help."
"You have my word I shall not 'try anything'," Saryn cut in, before sweeping out of the damaged cell, brushing close past Paikea, before turning at the door. "Doctor?" he queried, raising an eyebrow.
When Illito had joined him, Saryn sighed. "What have you done, to gain the commodore's disfavour?" he asked again, as they walked their way to sickbay.

Leaving Vanessa in a sound sleep, he headed for the nearest turbo-lift and entered ..
"Bridge."
=^= Marcuse to Torek .. Sir we have the anomaly two hundred kilometers off our port side .. What are your orders ? =^=
=^= I'm en-route Mister Marcus =^=
The doors opened and Torek entered the Bridge. He walked to where the Operations Officer was looking at a screen, so he checked the readings himself. There was something wrong. There was no way an anomaly could have opened so close to the Raven. All three Federation ships would have been dragged in and crushed instantly ...
"How did you manage to get sensors on-line Lieutenant ?" Carl asked, ignoring the reading now.
"We over-rode the ODN conduit break and partial sensors came up. I was informed that the anomaly appeared around the same time." Jake said, a slight frown forming on his brow.
"Where's the Vesuvius now ?"
"Sir ?" Jake said, puzzled.
I'm not sure whats going on here Mister Marcus, but I need you to undo whatever you did to get those readings." Marcus was looking totally bemused as Torek continued. "There is 'NO' way we can be this close. so it's either a reflection from the original anomaly, some kind of echo maybe." Carl finished.
Jake re-checked the screen .. It was blank, just a static residue flickering every few seconds.
"Don't worry about it Jake." Carl said, "This kind of thing has happened before."
"Sir." Jamison said, "Engineering are starting to re-route power to the Bridge."
"Thank you Commander." Carl said, sitting in his seat ..
He watched his new Operations Officer form the corner of his eye. The last thing Torek was going to put up with was some Section thirty one operative on his ship. He would need to speak to the man at some point, but for now it could wait ..........

*In the Challenger engineering room personnel were thrown around as the power failed to the gravity plating and then crashed to the deck as the power returned. As Traks picked himself up off the deck he over heard Colonel James calling for a Medical team.* " Belay that Mr. James I am a MD look in my pack over there and bring me the med kit."
*James opened the seals on the pack and located a gray case with a symbol that looked like similar to the medical symbols on things he had seen in the Vesuvius. Bringing it to Traks *:" What else do you need?"
*Opening the case Traks removed the Tricorder and began to scan the downed engineer.* "Second degree plasma burns and a small sub dermal hematoma. " *Picking up the dermal regenerator Traks handed it to James.*" Here hold this like this and move the light back and forth in even strokes over the burns. I will give him something for the pain, the head injury is stable and minor I will need to get him to your sick bay for further treatment. I will check for more wounded." *Traks moved off as James took out his communicator and contacted the bridge.*
"James to bridge we have wounded in engineering; Colonel Traks is evidently an MD and is treating the injured we will need a couple of the MACO's with structure's to move them to sick bay after Traks has them stabilized. Also sir he seem to have no problem using his equipment to help our people." *James looked a the burns he had been treating and was surprised to see them actually healing before his eyes.*

"Illito, if he does anything or tries anything just knock him out with your phaser," Pai smirked.
Illito nodded, appreciating the sentiment while completely ignoring the actual advice, since she didn't agree with it. As Dr. Saryn swept out of the brig, Illito clearly wasn't in control, but she didn't feel any strong need to be. She walked beside the doctor as they headed to the sickbay.
"What have you done, to gain the commodore's disfavour?" Dr. Saryn asked, clearly not content with Illito's first answer.
"Nothing," Illito repeated, but it was clear that Dr. Saryn wasn't buying what she was trying to sell as much to herself as to him. She could say it wasn't personal, but that didn't make it feel any less that. Being judged for being Cardassian was about as ridiculous, from her view at least, as if she'd judged Commodore Reckus solely based on the point that a changeling could theoretically take the same form.
"I don't know the specifics," Illito admitted. "But I'm guessing there's some kind of story there, beyond the impersonal one of historical alliances and wars that exists." Even history as recent as the war with the Gamma Quadrant over the future of the Alpha and Beta didn't usually speak quite so strong as to create such hate as Illito could tell from Commodore Reckus. "But she didn't share that with me. So all I know is that she dislikes my species."
Illito slightly sped up her pace down the hall, towards where she presumed sickbay must be, hoping to leave the conversation behind her; it wasn't really something she was comfortable with.

Daniel tried to get up after falling down as the entire room shook, picking himself off the floor he noted that is side hurt from the fall. Pulling himself up on the consol he listened to his fellow officers as they decided what to do, Daniel agreed with what they were saying, and was happy enough to head up to the bridge and see if there was anything he could do, Daniel doubted he could help but he might as well be there. Daniel walked out of the brig and he realised that he had just walked out on the others without mentioning anything, walking down the corridors Daniel was not surprised to see engineers running left and right trying to get to damaged systems. Daniel could see the worry in their faces, obviously the situation of being in another galaxy with an aggressive enemy causing havoc outside was finally starting to get to the crew, Daniel would have to warn the commodore that she would need to talk to them or risk moral failing across the ship.
After getting lost a few times trying to find the turbo lift Daniel finally arrived on the bridge to find one hell of a mess, the view screen was black and most of the officers on the bridge were going about getting reports ready for the commodore. Daniel noted that she was not on the bridge, but by the way most officers were looking over at her ready room door from time to time he guessed she was there. Walking around the bridge Daniel found a spare chair near the side of the bridge that had a functional consol, Daniel wanted a few moments to access files to see what had happened. Before Daniel could sit he felt a strange chill go down his spine, he turned around to see if there was something behind him that could explain it. Unable to find anything Daniel sat down unsure of what he felt, Daniel felt out with his limited empathy to see if what he had seen on his way up to the bridge was the same across the ship or worse. As he felt out across the ship he felt something much colder than he had expected. Closing his mind off Daniel focused on the task at hand, he could work out whose mind was so cold later.

McLean wasn’t sure if it was denial, or a hard work ethic but his mind wasn’t on his daughter but on the hundreds of lives that hung in the balance if the Raven fell apart. He recalled the Vulcan proverb, The good of the many out weight the good of the few, or one. The fact rang clear after Carl had spoken with him about Vanessa. It had been the first time that he stopped working to deal with a personal issue.
“Chief, are you all right?” McLean heard a voice ask over his shoulder. He already knew who it was, but he didn’t want to face the fellow engineer, as his eyes were red with tears.
“I’ll be back.” McLean said, as he was sure the lump in his throat gave away the fact that tears were running down his cheeks.
McLean walked away form Main Engineering sulking at his logic to remain in engineering. The reality was that after the death of his wife and oldest son he really didn’t want to face the death of another one of his family members, especially not Vanessa. If he didn’t go to see her than she was all right, and in good spirits. She would be saved from the horrors that her father had to deal.
McLean’s walking turned quickly into a run as he made his way through emergency response crews, medical personnel, and security officers. Instead of taking the turbo lift that was needed to move the wounded and bring in supplies, McLean took the stairs in the Jefferies Tubes. He had several decks to climb, but that didn’t matter. All the Chief Engineer could think about was his daughter, her cute little voice, the evil smile she could seemingly conjure up at a moment’s notice, and her commanding personality. All of which pushed the man to climb, step by step, up the stairs as fast as he could.
Everything was in slow motion as McLean burst form the Jefferies Tube onto the main corridor that lead to his quarters. He rounded the corner, dodging several security officers as he ran, his destination the doors to his quarters. His objective, Vanessa McLean, the daughter that meant the world to him, the one he put behind his job to hide the scars of the past.
The doors to his quarters slide open, the dim emergency lights casting an eerie glow across the room. Sitting on the sofa at the other end of the room was Emma, Vanessa’s schoolteacher. Emma was slightly started by the sudden opening of the doors but spoke a quiet, “Scott,” as McLean entered his quarters.
McLean approached quietly as Emma lifted her body from the couch, setting Vanessa’s head slowly down on a pillow. She then embraced McLean with a friendly hug, but McLean wanted very little to do with it. Politely though he returned the gesture but pressed on past Emma and sat down on the floor to be as close to Vanessa as possible.
As he did her eyes opened a little, “Daddy?”
“I’m here baby.”
“I was so worried when the lights went out, and Carl came by to see me, I was so scared, why didn’t you come?” The combination of her fear and blunt question struck McLean right through the heart. How could he possibly explain to this young life the complexities of human nature?
He couldn’t, but he opted for the next best thing, “I’m sorry. I promise I’ll never do it again.”
“I was so scared.” Tears welled up in her eyes.
“I know baby, I’m sorry.”
“You’re not going to do that again?”
“No baby I wont.” McLean felt the tears welling up in his eyes. He was happy that the lights were dark enough that Vanessa couldn’t see the large cut on his forehead, and the bloodstains on his right shoulder where the blood had fallen form his face.
“You promise?”
“I promise.”
Vanessa leaned up and wrapped her little arms around her father’s neck and squeezed as hard as she could. McLean closed his eyes and soaked up the moment, knowing for the first time in years what parenthood meant. It wasn’t just providing a place for their children to live, or bringing food to them, but it was giving them the emotional comfort they needed more than the air they breathed.
McLean’s thoughts turned to his late wife Stephanie. She was always the one who was providing the emotional support for the kids; she was the one they had always cried for when they had bad dreams, and now for the first time since her death he really wished she were here. Not for Vanessa’s sake but for his own.
Vanessa pulled away form her father but remained close, “Are you going back to work now?” She asked with a tear rolling down her cheek.
“No,” McLean replied as he wiped the tear from her soft cheek, “No I’m not.”
Vanessa’s arms were like a vice again as she squeezed out another hug. From the door way Emma’s eyes were wet from watching the father-daughter interaction. She had walked slowly away form the two, giving them their space, and now it was time for her to go. Stepping near the door she heard it open and with out a single word she left, leaving them two in their embrace.

“We have a visual on the Challenger.” Somebody said from the bridge of the Vesuvius. Kirk’s attention wasn’t on the speaker but on the monitor that showed her under her own power, moving rather slowly back toward the fleet.
“I have a few harsh words to direct at Captain Torek. Captain Kirk, please join me."
“Commodore if you don’t mind I would rather get back to my ship and check on the status of my crew.” Andy said.
The Vulcan Commodore took a moment before she replied, “Understood, but be sure to take your doctor with you.”
“I will.”
“I think I need medical attention!” Joq’Tel screamed as he held his arm.
The Commodore looked as if she wanted to help, but knew there were more pressing matters for her to deal with at the moment, “Captain, escort him to sickbay before you leave.”
“Yes ma’am.” Andy replied as he held the Vackall rebel by the opposite arm he claimed had been hurt in the shockwave.
Down in sickbay Andy walked in with Joq’Tel still by his arm. As he entered he found himself face to face with an alien looking doctor, far more alien looking than any species he had come across thus far.
“Captain.” Saryn said, acknowledging his presence.
“We’re leaving, so pack your bags.” Andy replied.
“I am not done here.” The alien doctor said.
“Where’s Numike?”
Saryn pointed to the cover of sickbay and sitting on the floor was his Vampire like daughter from the planet simply known as Miranda. She looked scared and beyond that very unapproachable, so Andy thought best to keep his distance and let Saryn worry about comforting her.
“Who’s this?” The doctor asked.
“I am Joq’Tel, flight Commander of the Vackall rebellion, and I need you to back away from that Demon.” Joq’Tel said as he pulled a side arm from his backside and aimed it at the alien doctor.
Andy felt his body move suddenly, instinctively to Joq'Tel, but as he did Joq’Tel turned and fired a single round into Kirk's shoulder causing him to fall back onto the floor. The Challenger’s Captain winched in pain, but stayed conscious.
“Bring the Demon’s child here.” Joq’Tel ordered, his gun leveled at the alien doctor.
The alien doctor move carefully and brought Numike to Saryn, who stood in front of his daughter to protect her, “Demon, find something to bind the doctor with. Any tricks and I’ll destroy your daughter.” Joq’Tel touched a device on his collar, which activated a blinking red light.
“Flight Commander, what are you orders?” Came a voice through a secure channel.
“Prepare transportation. Myself and three prisoners.”
Once the alien doctor was secured he moved Saryn along side Andy and activated the transportation process. With in the blink of an eye they had simply vanished from the Vesuvius with out a trace.

On the bridge of the USS Vesuvius, Commander Jonathan Kirk worked at his OPS station. Power fluctuations occurred regularly since the shockwave had sent most of the ships systems reeling. This time however the power reading was anomalous, but not enough so that it required further investigation. He would follow protocol and make sure to log the date and time of the strange reading into his end of day report. Unbeknownst to him he had just witnessed the transporter signal that was carrying several Starfleet personnel off the ship and into Vackall rebel hands.
Now his console beeped with the sound of an incoming hail, “Ma’am incoming hail from the Vackall Prime vessel- audio only.” Kirk announced.
The audio hail clicked on with severe static in the background. At first nothing besides the static was heard, but then a voice pierced the static, “Alien vessel…please stand down. We mean you no harm. Chasing…crimin…of the…ackall Prime Alliance. Do you understand, over?”

Over the next hour, systems began to come back on-line ..
First sensors, but only at twenty percent, external communication was zero still, but weapons and shields began to receive power from Engineering. Bringing the core on-line was going to take at least two more hours Torek was informed.
=^= Well done Scott =^=
=^= Sir Commander McLean isn't here, this is Lieutenant Dalton .. Should I contact the Commander for you ? =^=
Torek knew that Scott had finally gone to see his Daughter. Even in the current circumstances, he couldn't take him away. Although Vanessa was happy that Carl had gone to see her, she needed the comfort and reassurance only a Father can give ..
=^= No ... No thats OK .. I know where the Commander is .. How long before we are on full power ? =^=
=^= We're running systems from the emergency back-up generators at the moment Sir .. Thus only partial sensors and shields .. Once we have the core on-line we can power up to one hundred percent =^=
=^= Keep me informed Lieutenant .. Bridge out =^=
Torek closed the Comm as the view screen flickered to life. The image was fragmented for a few seconds, then stabilized into a crystal clear image of space.
"Are sensors picking up the Vesuvius or the Challenger yet ?"
"I'm getting readings, but no positive identification yet." the duty Science Officer reported, "It could be the ships, or a reflection of the Raven herself." she said, frowning at her screen.
"Check all external monitors, see if we can see one of them visually."
The view screen began to go through every external camera, Space directly ahead, nothing from the Port dorsal pylon, nothing from Starboard .. Just space ...
"Do we have thrusters ?"
"Yes Sir." Marcus replied.
"OK .. Begin a slow spiral upward toward the plane. Make the diameter one hundred thousand meters. We should be able to pick up both ships visually as we rise. If Challenger has power they will see us and hopefully, follow us up.
Carl sat in silence as the massive Galaxy Class vessel began her slow rise to the plane of the universe, and with luck, a reunion with the Vesuvius and Challenger ..........

OOc: I'm still here, got lost in the story, plus school took me away this last couple of weeks.
Sharon was on the bridge, power had finally been restored but the ship was not at 100% by no means but at least some of the main systems were starting to get up and running.
Sharon had left briefly to get showered and changed and had just returned to the bridge to relieve Ensign Johnson when their was a large explosion and the ship was rocked. She had just got out of the turbolift when it happened and was knocked off her feet.
Sharon got up and headed to tactical and checked status and with some circuit burnouts the phase cannons were still online.
"Commander, except for some circuit burnouts tactical is fine, we still have phase cannons if we need them, hull plating is down to 87%." Sharon stated.

If Saryn were one to admit to emotion, he would admit he actually enjoyed working with the Cardassian doctor. She was dutifully and patiently explaining anything that was virtually unknown to him and even without needed access, with her assistance he could work well within his set limits. Both doctors looked up when Captain Kirk walked into sickbay, enquiring after the girl then telling him to pack his bags.
He listened with growing interest as Illito enquired after the prisoner’s identity.
“I am Joq’Tel, flight Commander of the Vackall rebellion, and I need you to back away from that Demon.” Joq’Tel said as he pulled a side arm from his backside and aimed it at the alien doctor.
Saryn’s mouth became a very thin line as he tried to bite back a very impolite response. Anyone who knew him could see he was angry, even though he gave no outward emotional response. “Please, we have injured here,” he said calmly, too calm even for him. He saw Kirk blink but said nothing. “I am certain we can come to a peaceful solution.”
Andy felt his body move suddenly, instinctively to Joq'Tel, but as he did Joq’Tel turned and fired a single round into Kirk's shoulder causing him to fall back onto the floor. The Challenger’s Captain winched in pain, but stayed conscious.
“Captain!” Saryn called out, surprised at the Vackall’s move. He tried to run forward but the gesture of the gun stopped him in his tracks. He stood, torn between saving the lives of the doctor and himself, or press on to his captain’s side.
Seeing that the captain was injured but still conscious, he opted to remain where he was, for now. Straightening, he merely glared at their captor.
“Bring the Demon’s child here.” Joq’Tel ordered, his gun leveled at the alien doctor.
Crossing glances with Illito, Saryn nodded slowly, giving his consent. He would be fast enough to intervene if Joq’Tel would attempt to hurt his daughter. “She is not a demon’s child,” he snapped, “I am not a demon.” His angry remark went ignored altogether.
The alien doctor move carefully and brought Numike to Saryn, who stood in front of his daughter to protect her, “Demon, find something to bind the doctor with. Any tricks and I’ll destroy your daughter.” Joq’Tel touched a device on his collar, which activated a blinking red light.
“I shall do nothing of the sort,” the Vulcan replied tersely, though when the alien lifted his weapon just past Saryn, straight at the girl, he sighed. “I apologise doctor,” he softly told Illito, as he bound her hands with a roll of gauze-bandages. “I am certain the security chief or anyone else will be with you soon. If I can, I will warn them, you have my word.” Meanwhile, he listened to the conversation Joq’Tel was having.
“Flight Commander, what are you orders?” Came a voice through a secure channel.
“Prepare transportation. Myself and three prisoners.” Saryn pretended he had not heard, making sure Illito was bound securely, but not such that she’d be uncomfortable. She’d be comfortable enough and able to escape in a while if she put effort in it. He felt Joq’Tel prod his weapon in his back and he straightened again, looking down on the alien with a look of pure disdain. “Do not touch me,” he warned.
Once the alien doctor was secured he moved Saryn along side Andy and activated the transportation process. With in the blink of an eye they had simply vanished from the Vesuvius with out a trace.
When they rematerialised, Saryn had trouble keeping his bearings; the transport had been so swift he felt completely disoriented. He felt Numike cling to him and instinctively he wrapped his arms around her. “Captain, are you all right?” he asked quietly, “I fear I have nothing to treat you with and I do not know where we are. I have no doubt that we will not be safe here.”
He looked up, staring straight at Joq’Tel. “The captain needs medical attention. If you value him as a hostage, you will provide me with the means to tend to him.”

Sonak returned to the bridge, looking absolutely exhausted; she hadn't had any rest since their arrival in the Andromeda Galaxy and between the battles and dealing with an ancient crew, it hadn't done her own health any good.
She crossed glances with Raven's counselor, Commander Biers and she nodded politely towards him. "Have a seat counselor," she suggested softly but decisively, "we do not know what to expect and I do not wish for you to get hurt while being a guest on what remains of my vessel. Have you been able to speak with Doctor Saryn?"
His reply was cut short, when Kirk reported an audio only message was coming in. "Put it through," she ordered, "and keep scanning for Raven and Challenger as soon as Nick manages to get them back online."
“Alien vessel…please stand down. We mean you no harm. Chasing…crimin…of the…ackall Prime Alliance. Do you understand, over?”
"Stand down from what," she replied irritably, "I have no weapons or shields, propulsion is minimal. What possible resistance could we offer to a vessel your sheer size?" She didn't even expect a response. "And what criminal are you referring to?"
Realisation dawned on her and she gazed at Parsons. "What have we done?" she whispered, defeated. She tapped her combadge. "Commander Apirana, report to sickbay at once! Get everyone out of there and apprehend the Vackall commander! Respond!"
She turned back to the screen which was still black, wondering if the other vessel would have visual on them. "We are seeking a way home, we are lost. Any assistance is welcome. Can you help us?"
Sonak could just see her senior staff thinking what she felt; was she crazy to do this? To her, this made perfect sense. The large vessel had not fired on them yet it could've easily destroyed them if they had wanted to. They were in no shape to try and make it home the conventional way; she just had to trust in their goodwill.
"There were two vessels with us, can you pick them up and direct us to them, or them to us? I have a crewmember here who belongs on the largest vessel, and two others who belong on the crippled small vessel."

Illito was working with Dr. Saryn, and she thought it was going very well. Although she liked having her piece of her sickbay and she worked well on her own, she didn't think of the Vesuvius as hers, not yet, not when she spent so much time trying to find the tools she needed, and with this volume of people it made sense to work together to let Dr. Saryn be helpful even if his techniques were a little old.
She was startled by the additional presence of someone with rank badges which were recognizable as Captain, even if they were odd. When Dr. Saryn greeted the stranger, Illito's impression of the Captain as part of the crew from the past was confirmed.
She glanced at the person standing at the Captain's side, but he didn't look very injured so she talked to the Captain first. Illito was slightly disappointed to learn that Dr. Saryn was leaving, since he was being amazingly helpful, considering his background. Having expressed her reluctance, she turned to the person at the side. "Who's this?" she asked.
Joq’Tel introduced himself, but not politely. Illito continued to stare disbelievingly at the flight Commander of a rebellion she knew nothing about, up until he pulled out a side arm and pointed it at her.
Illito usually kept herself to sickbay during conflicts, and her reflexes when someone stuck a gun on her was to freeze. Which was for the worse, as the unnamed captain was shot in the shoulder. Dr. Saryn started to rush forward, but he too was brought to a stop by the presence of the weapon.
“Bring the Demon’s child here,” Joq’Tel ordered.
If Illito had recovered her tongue she'd think of a number of things to say in response to that, but she hadn't, so she waited. Dr. Saryn nodded at her, giving his acceptance of the actions they both knew she had to take. She didn't see any immediate harm in bringing his daughter to him; it might actually help, so she did so.
Then Dr. Saryn was ordered to tie Illito up. Not her optimal outcome with this situation, but she really didn't want the girl-Dr. Saryn's daughter-to be hurt. “I apologise doctor,” he said.
"Don't," Illito told him, meaning that he shouldn't apologize, rather than that he shouldn't tie her up. She understood why he needed to do that, even if she would rather he didn't.
After the others left, Illito started to test her bounds, slowly straining them as much as she could. She couldn't tell yet if she'd be able to free herself or not, but she didn't have anything better to do so she kept working on them.

Marcus went from thruster repair to sensor repair. Even if the other ships has sensor thy may not have the ability to follow them. ~Damn why didn't the codes work.~ Marcus thought as he and Ensign Hart continued to repair the ship.
Ensign Hart had seen him enter something in the console before the sensor's come back for a short time. Since things were getting fixed she decided to ask. "Jake what was that code you entered. your not doing anything stupid are you?" Jake heard the question but decided to ignore her for now. No one would understand what he had received and they would think he was a section 31 agent. Hardly he wouldn't give that section the time of day.
Marcus thought back to the "Command" school he went to after leaving the Olympia. More like Star Fleet intelligence spy school. He knew he was going to get some hard mission but the codes were to assist the ship in it's time of need so he thought. The code he entered should have brought sensors on line no matter what. Marcus looked at the console seeing the ODN Line for sensors back up. Scanning the system he was sure it would work now.
"Sir i have fixed the sensors." Marcus said. "Short range and only 34% but i have them." Marcus continued to work on other systems and knew it would be a long time before the ship was !00% and that was not now.

*Aboard the Challenger things were starting to come together; Traks had helped to get as many personnel back in good enough shape to do their duties. As he finished the updates to the Challengers crews medical files he picked up his tricorder to make some log entries. *
"Personal log Lt Colonel Traks recording; I will probity have to explain my actions of the past 24 hours, at best to the Commodore and the Capitan of the Raven, at worst to a Court Martial and /or a review by the temporal board of investigations. If it is determined that I violated the temporal prime directive, I will godly accept any punishment that they want to do to me. I freely admit to using every device at my disposal and all my medical training to save and help the crew of the Challenger. As well as the instruction in the usage of and access to advanced technology. If I remember my medical history class correctly the NX-01 Enterprise had encountered dermal and tissue regeneration technology at a space station near the Romulan border, I think this was before the launch of the Challenger, but the information must not be general knowledge as the MACO commander seemed impressed by the contents of my med kit. As a Marine Colonel I could have stood by and let the injured be treated by the Nurses and medics of the Challenger but as a Doctor I could not. It has been a long time since the oath I took when I became a Doctor conflicted with my Duty as a Marine. I have been hiding as a teacher in the Academy and on Admiral Arok's staff. Now back in the field it seems that I may have to transfer to a Medical post or resign from the Marines. I think the Commodore is in a difficult position. As the ranking officer she took command; but under Regulations she should have deferred to the Co of the Raven. If memory serves; Regulation 191 (article 14) states; In a combat situation, involving more than one Federation Ship; Command falls to the Vessel with tactical superiority. Some might think I am second guessing her but this regulation was quoted to me by more than one of my XO's during my time in command of the USS Hope. End recording mark this file as eyes only command level review in case of my death."
*Traks stored his tricorder in his pack and inventoried his med kit to make sure he had not left any equipment behind. Then he shouldered his pack and headed to the bridge to see what had happened while he had been playing doctor.*

The Raven had been spiraling upward for forty minutes. Any faster and they would be in danger of colliding with the very ship's they were looking for ...
Systems were springing to life all over the ship, as Scott's team worked to restore one hundred percent readiness.
"Sir .. I'm picking up vessel's but I can't identify them at this point in time." the duty Navigation Officer said.
"Sir I have fixed the sensors." Marcus added, "Short range, only thirty four percent at present but i have them."
"Keep working on them Jake. We need to find the Vesuvius and Challenger as soon as possible."
We're coming up to the plane Captain." Helm said, "I'm halting our vertical motion ... I've picked up the Vackall ship. It's two hundred thousand meters off our Port. It's possible that the Vesuvius is close-by too."
"Move us toward the Vesu ......"
"I'm picking up a Comm. I think it could be from Vesuvius ... I'm putting it on speakers." Jamison said suddenly.
=^= ...... ease stand down ... We mea ... no harm. Chasing ... imin ... of the ... ackall Prime Alliance .. Do you understand .. Over =^=
Carl could just recognize a Vackall voice. 'Were they trying to get help from the Federation ships that attempted to destroy him' Carl wondered.
"All stop !" Torek ordered, "Do we have full Comms yet ?" he asked, but getting a negative reply, sighed, "Let's listen in to this conversation. Try to get our Comms up."
"Aye Sir." Marcus said ..........

Sonak looked sideways at Biers, noting his expression was somewhat grim. Quietly, she walked up to him and came to a halt at his side. "Are you all right commander?" she asked softly, turning to face him. "You have been going around on the ship, how is the crew holding up?"
As she listened to him talk, she nodded at the appropriate intervals, her thoughts straying to those that had died during the battle, and those that had passed away when the small craft had exploded. To think that both the Raven and the Challenger might be lost to them, troubled her dearly.
"Walk with me Mr Biers," she stated gravely, meeting his eyes for the first time. "Please," she added, as she walked towards the turbolift. To her surprise he did follow her. "Deck three," she told the computer. At least they still had power, even when shields, propulsion and the deflector were offline. She heard the turbolift whine as it sped into motion.
"I do not know whether the Raven survived the explosion," she informed him, not wishing to lie to him, "of course we are searching for your fellow crewmembers but it may become necessary for you to stay with us until we can find a way home. Until such time, please consider the Vesuvius your home."
She watched the young man, watching him closely. She knew that, as part Betazoid, he had some empathic abilities and as such knew he was observing her too. "What is your conclusion counselor," she said slowly, "am I losing it? I understand you feel I am behaving oddly, for a Vulcan but I assure you there is nothing out of the ordinary. I am who I am, having been raised by Humans. However, I am worried for my crew. I could use your assistance in reassuring them."
The Vulcan wondered whether Paikea had reached sickbay yet, but since she had subconsciously ordered the car to take them to deck three, she didn't think it could hurt to check up. "Do you have a phaser?" she queried, before they exited the turbolift car. "I am unarmed."
Together, they entered sickbay though Sonak hesitated on the threshold. The Cardassian would be here, no doubt of that and she didn't want to face the woman. It was too soon to be coming to terms with her hatred. Quickly, she suppressed the emotion, fully aware of the fact that Biers could and would pick up on it. To her utter surprise, sickbay was fairly quiet and deserted. There was even no sign of Challenger's captain and doctor.
"Captain Kirk?" she called, "Doctor Saryn?" She hesitated again. "Doctor Tintagel?" she added as if in afterthought. No response, though a single sound caught their attention.
They found the doctor, tightly bound on the floor. "Release her," she ordered Biers, staying well away from the woman. Yet, she picked up a tricorder and scanned her from a distance. She could always step in if she were hurt. Her oath as a doctor demanded she make no difference in patient species, and she never had. "What happened here doctor?" she demanded.

Daniel waited on the bridge, slowly working out what he would say to the commodore when she came back onto the bridge, Daniel did not have to wait long as he looked up to see Sonak leave her ready room. Standing up so that he could be seen he was about to walk over to speak to her when Daniel heard her speak “Have a seat counselor," she suggested softly but decisively, "we do not know what to expect and I do not wish for you to get hurt while being a guest on what remains of my vessel. Have you been able to speak with Doctor Saryn?" Daniel was about to answer when someone spoke about a communication from the enemy ship ‘oh here comes the we will kill you unless you blah speech’ Daniel thought to himself taking a seat Daniel listened to the message and Sonak response, he noted a unusual amount of emotion in her voice for a Vulcan. "There were two vessels with us, can you pick them up and direct us to them, or them to us? I have a crewmember here who belongs on the largest vessel, and two others who belong on the crippled small vessel." Daniel heard these words and quickly listened in more closely to hear any response on the fate of the Raven. When he heard none he felt disappointed, the commodore must have picked up on this as her next words showed. "Are you all right commander?" she asked softly, turning to face him. "You have been going around on the ship, how is the crew holding up?" Daniel composed himself before responding “I am fine ma’am, i have indeed been walking around your ship, your crew are a strong bunch and are trying their best not to let the present situation get them down, but tiredness and fear is starting to find its way into their hearts. I would suggest that you speak to them all soon and encourage them, i am sure hearing what you are doing will help them greatly” Daniel hoped he was not sounding to commanding when he said that last part.
"Walk with me Mr Biers," she stated gravely, meeting his eyes for the first time. "Please," Daniel quickly stood up and made his way behind her, noting she looked surprised he had come so quickly. Entering the turbo lift Daniel did not hear the deck Sonak choose but he assumed she had something in mind when she picked it. "I do not know whether the Raven survived the explosion," she informed him, not wishing to lie to him, "of course we are searching for your fellow crewmembers but it may become necessary for you to stay with us until we can find a way home. Until such time, please consider the Vesuvius your home." Daniel knew where she was coming from, she felt responsible for him and for that he was glad “I will of course, i do hope that we find both ships whole and unharmed, but until that time i will continue my duty as a counsellor for your crew to the best of my abilities” Daniel felt the last part was necessary as he wanted her to know he would continue to work hard to ensure her crew were well. Daniel watched the commodore, she was not like most Vulcans where Vulcans avoided emotion, and she seemed to have plenty of emotions flying around. "What is your conclusion counselor," she said slowly, "am I losing it? I understand you feel I am behaving oddly, for a Vulcan but I assure you there is nothing out of the ordinary. I am who I am, having been raised by Humans. However, I am worried for my crew. I could use your assistance in reassuring them." Daniel smiled “ma’am, you are doing what any commander would do, attempt to take on all the burdens of your crew so that they do not need to. We are in an unusual situation and that has us all on edge. I would not start booking the counselling session just yet commodore. I will assist you where i can to reassure the crew, but as i said, the crew look up to you and any words of encouragement that you say will have twice the effect that my words would have” Daniel did not know if he was saying that to tell her what to do or to show her the belief of her crew in her to reassure her.
As they approached the deck, Sonak turned to face him "Do you have a phaser?" she queried, before they exited the turbolift car. "I am unarmed." Daniel shook his head “I am sorry, i never carry a phaser, to be quite honest i would be lucky to hit a ship from the inside” Daniel and Sonak made their way to sickbay, Daniel expected a bit of activity with so much repair work going on, but as they looked around the room looked empty then both he and Sonak spotted something. "Release her," Daniel did not need telling twice, he quickly moved forward and began helping the Cardassian doctor from her bindings. Daniel was quite surprised that they were so lose, she must have been fighting them for some time. Daniel was just losing the last not when Sonak spoke "What happened here doctor?" Daniel looked at the Cardassian doctor, she looked like she was fine with no signs of shock. Daniel got up holding out his hand to aid the doctor to her feet.

Illito was making progress on the bindings, not visible progress, but she could feel the bindings give way. Clearly Dr. Saryn hadn't tied them as tight as he could have, because Illito didn't have huge confidence in her physical ability to free herself.
She was unexpectedly rescued by the Commodore and Commander Biers. Well, the Commodore gave the order for her to be untied, but Commander Biers was the one who actually freed her. "Thank you," Illito said to Commander Biers, taking the offered hand and standing.
As she spoke she flicked bits of dust off of her uniform. She found the whole experience more than a bit humiliating, and she was trying to get just a little of her confidence back. She looked at Commodore Reckus while she answered the question. "Flight Commander Joq'Tel transported himself and Dr. Saryn, Numike, and the captain as captives somewhere, I don't know where. He was wearing some kind of collar that acted as a communication device. All he said was that he was a member of the Vackall Rebellion. The captain's been injured, he was shot in the shoulder, but he was still conscious when they transported out. Oh, and he kept calling Dr. Saryn a demon."
Illito shrugged, a little at a loss for an explanation of what had just happened. She knew that she couldn't have prevented what had happened, or at least she was pretty sure that she couldn't have, but she felt like she could have done more, that maybe she should have been able to stop the others from leaving.

OOC: The posts will get bigger and better as I get back into the mission. thanx.
"Sir. We've made a little more progress with the Comm system but it's not completely repaired yet." Jamison announced. "Here's some more of what was said the first time we received the message."
“Alien vessel…please stand down. We mean you no harm. Chasing…crimin…of the…ackall Prime Alliance. Do you understand, over?”
"Do you wish to reply, Captain?"

“Pai,” Adam greeted his former crewmate. “Good to see you.” Just then, Commodore Sonak reentered the bridge and addressed the new chief tactical officer.
* * *
Parsons was shocked that the Commodore would reveal such sensitive tactical information on their systems and capabilities to the Vackall Fleet Commander. He was more shocked that Captain Torek had flung a Federation ship into the Vackall flagship without consulting the Commodore, or bothering to ascertain whether they were friend or foe. “If we make it out of this alive, they should both face court martial,” Commander Parsons thought to himself. He was also concerned that the Commodore seemed to believe the Vackall Fleet Commander without any evidence. Personally, the XO didn’t trust either side of this Vackall conflict. The Commander wouldn’t be able to share his concerns with the Commodore, she had already left the bridge for sickbay.
“Commander, internal sensors aren’t fully functional, but I think there was just a transport out of sickbay, Pai reported.
“What the hell,” Parsons muttered. “Transport to where? How many?”

The transmission did not last long as the signal was breaking up and the more Jonathan worked to clean it up the worst the signal became, “I am loosing the message Commodore.”
“Do what you can Commander.” Sonak replied, but her reply seemed distant.
Jonathan worked as best as he could to reply with a standard reply, but nothing in the Starfleet database fully explained their situation, so using the universal translator he penned a message that he hoped would translate to the Vackall’s natural language. The message was sent in a text format and the new Chief Operations Officer did not have to wait long for a reply.
When he opened the message he found it written in perfectly clear English. A strange occurrence Jonathan thought as he read the message first to himself, “Intriguing.” Jonathan said to himself as he finished the message.
“Commodore I have a response from the Vackall. They understand our predicament and have offered up a solution. They apparently use this area as a means to transport their ships to greater distances than their warp drive would normally take them. The message says something about a beam they use to stabilize the ‘entity’. I am not certain what they mean by that. In any case they are willing to help us get back home…for a price.”
“What price Commander?” Sonak asked.
“It appears they are interested in high yield torpedoes, twenty of them to be exact. I also have received a rather interesting file on a religious rebel that goes by the name Joq’Tel. He is a member of a rather radical sect of the Vackall’s home religion, one that preaches the divinity of the Vackall people while demonizing the prospect of other races.” Jonathan finished his sentence and waited on the response from the Commodore.
