This is our third day on this mission and yet no sign of any Romulans.
I walked onto the Bridge as someone said to the Captain
"Sir we are picking up a federation ship". "What! there are none in range" said Duke. "They have opened a channel Sir" "On Screen Ensign" Replied the Captain. "Im afraid for some strange reason we dont seem to be able to". replied the young ensign.
"USS Olympia we have come here to transport the new colonist's onto the planet, you are free to leave". Said the starnge federation ship.
"Federation ship starfleet has ordered us to stay for 2 more day's yet, how did you get here so fast?" Said our Captain.
"Dont worry about that, you have been given new order's to return to these co-ordinates ". Replied the starnge ship.
"That would take us a month to get there, is there no other ship around there, that can carry out this new mission"?. Said our Captain.
"Stop asking questions, and get on with it USS Litho out".
"Hmmmmm seem's a bit rude for a federation ship dont you think"?. Said the Chief Security officer
"I agree" said the Captain, "somthing's wrong here. Helm set course for those Co-Ordinates that they gave us, Warp 1, Engage.
"We are leaving Sir"? Said Spiro.
"We will head for those Co-Ordinates for now to make it seem we are going to do what they want us to do, I will be in my ready room contacting Starfleet". Replied Duke Nova.

Q2 nodded as the Commodore ordered the change of course. His fingers flew across his console as he attempted to reroute the shields through the back up power relays. That way he could engage the shields, without the USS Litho detecting it unless they ran a full scan. With that task conpleted, he relaxed, safe with the knowledge that they were safe...and would hopefully find out what this was about.
Following this, he entered the Captain's Ready Room. Without asking a question, he made a statement. "You can't contact Starfleet." "No, I can't...it appears our communications are being bounced straight back at us, and all I managed to do was contact me!" "Okay...I would suggest continuing our current course, but run a full scan on the USS Litho, they shouldn't have a problem with it...if they really are Starfleet."

"'Ere, my mother always told me never trust anything named after a rock, or that sounds like an intestinal disease. And the USS Litho fits both." Jabez made this statement as he entered the captain's ready room, interrupting Commodore Nova and Q2.
"Sound advice, if a little bizarre," Q2 answered.
"So what do we know about this USS Litho, sir?"
"Nebula class, I'll call up the information we gathered from scans." Commodore Nova called up the information and spun his table console to face the chief engineer.
A quick look was all it took for Jabez to determine the information he needed. "Presumably the ops officer is the only one who's looked at these?" Getting a nod for response, he continued, "ok, reccommendations. First, get Gus up here. Second, fire the ops officer on duty. Third, contact the so called 'Litho' and tell them to fire their scanner expert, he's an idiot."
"Jabez, I don't quite follow, what have you found?" the captain enquired.
"Take a look," he replied, spinning the console back. "That's one flippin' big Nebula class."
"You're not wrong there," Q2 commented, looking over the captain's shoulder.
Well, that clinches it, I'll inform Starfleet of our situation, then we'll turn back and see what these Romulans want. Q2, make sure everything is up to full working order, we may have to engage."
"Aye sir," the tactical officer replied, as the two turned to leave.
Entering the turbolift, Jabez made a call to engineering.
=/\=Jabez to engineering, Luke I'm on my way back, start preperations for seperation procedure, we may have to engage.=/\=

Commander Weill entered the bridge and he was very tired. "Well what have we got here Jabez" " The Romulans again" " I thought thay were going to behave but than again they are Romulans" " At least we are not a loggerheads all the time" " Well what are the orders" " Prepare for the investigation" Commander Weill went to the operations office and started running sesor sweeps of all the main sytems he was going to make sure the ship could hold up to anything.

"Captain I have been working on a way to get a secure message through to Starfleet, I have succeded in my task". said the Chief Engeneer.
"Good work Mr Jabez, I will talk to them immediatly, since were heading back that way anyway". Replied the Captain of the Olympia.
"Admiral Griffen here, ahhhh Captain Nova how is your mission? Descovered any Romulands yet? By the way our Colonie ship and its Escort will arrive in 2 days, is that ok?
"Admiral I hate to say this but a so called Federation Ship called the 'USS Litho' asked us to divert onto a new mission, so we left however we aew heading back there at maximum Warp to engage it. It was acctually the Romulans in decise, we have the evidence now to prove that".
"NO!!!!! Olympia, you cannot let Arcana III fall into the hands of the Romulans, Destroy this so called LITHO there is no such Federation Ship, howevr it does resemble a Romulan Warbird, called the LITHO'KIM Nova you ust destroy that ship if you can and get those colonists off that planet, Send Security teams, Engeneering teams and Science teams ont that planet and re-take it I will call out to other Ships nearby to come and assist, Good luck Nova. Commander Weill entered the bridge and he went straight to the Captains Ready room <Chime> <Come> " Sorry to disturb you sir" " No problem come in and sit down" " Thankyou" " I have made the ship physically worthy for anything that can be thrown at her i just thought that we should have a full meeting to collect data." " I understand Commander but this is a very important mission and we do not have time for the normal procedure" " My Uncle has contacted me from starbase 117" " Is'nt your uncle Admiral Guiseppe Weill" " Thats right, he wanted me to send his regards but also that he has heard of the starship Litho" " Where" " It was in the beta Magellen system about 15 years ago" " Why is it not in the offical records" " It was destroyed byt a force to strong to comprehend it was deemed a secret" " Do we have any readings on this force" " Yes the signature was a cross between the Romulan structure and the Omega molecule" " Why wasnt action taken" " The romulan section could only be found with a biotreclar scanner and that has only been brought in the last 2 months" " Okay Commander i will investigate further and get orders from command, can you investigate to find out more and thank the Admiral for me" " Sir"

"Sir we are approaching the planet once again". Said the Helm officer at that time.
"Sir there is a Romulan Warbird dead ahead" said the Chief Science officer.
"RED ALERT", "ALL HANDS TO BATTLE STATIONS!!!!" Said the first officer.
"Ready Phasers and Photon Torpedos, Target their weapons and fire"!. Said Duke.
"Sir the Warbird has cloaked, and they have just warped out of the System", sid the Chief science officer.
"Scan the planet, are there any life forms down there?". Replied the Captain.
"Yes Sir there are about 200 people down there all Romulan"..... Said the science officer.
"Then there is only one thing to do. Take back the planet. Mr Vassiliou im going to need your Security teams to beam down there and take them by force, they probably know that we will be wanting it back so they will be heavely defended. You should also take an Engeneering team, and a Science team to help you".
"Eye eye, Sir! I will begin making the preperation now, we should be ready to leave in about an hour". Said Spiro.
"Understood Mr Vassiliou, good luck!". Said Captain Nova.
"Mr Vassiliou" said Q2, "we seem to have a tactical advantage here".
"How so Mr Q2?" Said the security chief.
"It seems that because the planet has never been colonized, its never had any technology, so the Romulans dont acctually know were here". Said Q".
"But dident the Romulans tell them before they left that we were here?" Said Spiro.
"No it seems not, we have checked all of the EM Bands from the time we arrived and no hails were made." Q2 replied.
"Hmmmmm, this is good we will have to tred lightly and sabotage a few defenses first then go in for a full attack, thank you Mr Q2".
"No problem" said the tactical officer.
As the Security Chief, along side the chief Engeneer, left to make preparations.....

Jabez headed once more for engineering, to assemble an away team. He would need three other crewmen, all combat trained, and able to take out any installations the Romulans may have put in place.
Although they had only been there a few hours, there were 200 people down there and in this situation they knew they had to work fast. It was better to take an engineering team just in case.
Reaching engineering, he took a look around.
"Forsythe, Garrison, you're with me. One of you call Edwards, get him to meet us in transporter room 2. His shift starts in 10 minutes anyway," he called out.
"You going somewhere, sir?" his deputy asked.
"To the surface. The Romulans planted 200 people there, then ran off."
"I see, explains the ex-security crewmen."
"Yes, although Spiro will be taking a good number of security personnel I suspect. You're in charge til I get back, see you later Luke," he added, turning and exiting the department, followed by the man and woman he had requested.
Entering transporter room 2, they were met with another man in engineering uniform, Spiro, Q2 and Krase.
"Are we planning on leaving any of the senior staff here?" Jabez joked. The others gave a slight chuckle.
"My science team will join us shortly," Krase announced.
"And the security teams are beaming from other transporter rooms," Spiro added.
Krase left instructions with the transporter operator on duty to send his science team straight down, and the senior staff members stepped onto the transporter pad. They would be followed by the engineering team, who would bring a number of crates that Jabez glimsed on one side of the room, before he saw blue.

Q2 adjusted his eyes as they appeared on the surface. The dust swirled around his face, and he clipped on the face guard that the team had been supplied with. Rather than modern suits, they had simply been given neckerchiefs, and looked like cowboys while wearing them.
He swung his phaser round in a small arc in front of him, then stepped forward to speck to Jabez. They were the ranking members here on the surface, and held a quick conference.
"If we take three teams, me heading one, you the other, and Spiro the other, we will be able to cover much more ground, and be smaller and thus less easily seen."
"Agreed. we'll split up the science and engineering teams between the three. I'll take Krase too. We could do with a lumbering Klingon!"
"Okaayyy then. Let's sort it out."
The two officers rapidly briefed the others, and spread out, their aim to take out any power plants, and defensive buildings.
Q2 left with his team, heading east from the beam down point. The small team soon found the first power plant of the day, and rather than destroy it, they entered it.
Inside, it was typically Romulan in design. Everything was in sweeping curves, and there were cutouts for a security presence. As they approached the first of these, Q2 signalled one of the security officers, Ensign Moran. Moran grabbed a flash grenade from his belt, and rolled it at the Romulan's feet. The romulan looked down, and as the Starfleet Officers looked away, the grenade burst, with a flash of light. Q2 spun, and ran silently to the Romulan, brought the phaser rifle in his hand down hard on his head, and knocked him out.
"Okay, that's one. According to the map at the entrance we have three more."
The next two were dealt with in the same way, but as the second of these was knocked down, the officers heard a shout.
"What the hell are you doing here!" The Universal translator rapidly did its job, and Q2 ducked down, the rest of the squad dropped into the crevice provided for guards. Q2 was too far ahead of it, and the ground provided his only cover. As he hit the floor, he rolled forwards, and a disruptor burst grazed along his back, going straight through his uniform, leaving him with a disruptor burn down his back. Screaming in pain and agony, Q2 drove on. He fired his phaser rifle wildly ahead of him, but on the third shot it jammed. Regardless, he charged forwards, the Romulan had been stunned, and until this point had done nothing. Now however he collected himself, he fired his disruptor point blank into Q2's chest. Q2 lurched sideways as he was hit, and as he fell to the floor he reached into his own belt, grabbed at his knife, and swung it wildly in front of him...before everything blacked out.
The world started to come back into focus. Damn, did his chest hurt.
"How are you Commander?"
"How am I? I got shot in my stomach by a frelling Romulan, and you ask me how I am? I am not good. Not good!"
"We have treated your wounds as best we can, but the Romulans have been alerted to our presence and raised some kind of planetary shield. We can't beam off. On the plus side, we have deactivated this power plant, and should enough be deactivated, the shield would drop. However another twelve need to be destroyed."
"Okay. You have to take some more out. Leave Moran here with me, and the rest of you go and see what else you can do to these damned Romulans!"

Standing in the centre of the bridge, peter lla asked Drax to check the stasis of the of the ships orbit. With a shield around the planet, half of the command staff were stuck down there and Commanders Weill, Burke and the captain were in the ready room discussing what to do.
“All fine sir” the young ensign replied
Not thinking it would cause a problem, he was left in charge of the bridge. The LT sat down in the captains chair. The moment he sat in the chair, the ensign at tactical said
“Sir, Some thing is be decloaking,” with a tremble the ensign informed Peter that 5 Romulan d’deridex class vessels had decloaked, and had targeted their weapons systems at the Olympia
“RED ALERT!” the LT shouted, “Captain to the bridge”
The captain ran out of the ready room with the first officer and Gus close behind. Peter moved from the centre and went to relieve Drax.
Drax moved over to the corner to where the weapons lockers are and took a phaser for himself and brought one to Lla who had now backed the ship away trying to make the ship harder to hit if the Romulans did decide to attack
“Orders sir” commander Burke asked?”

"So, they arrive, they set up a bunch of prefab huts then they disappear?"
"Pretty much Krase, pretty much."
The engineer and science officer stood with a trio of security personnel and their heavy equipment in the centre of the beginnings of a settlement. There were five identical prefabricated buildings standing around, all devoid of any features, doors included.
"And they intended to get in...?" the science officer called out, wandering around one such small building.
"Beyond me." Jabez went to meet Krase, starting to lean on the wall of a hut, before standing back up as the grey-green building started to slant under his weight. "Looks like they forgot foundations."
"I don't think that would be their major worry in their situation, especially not on this terrain," Krase pointed out, gesturing to the surrounding area, a desert which scans suggested measured around just 12 square miles.
"And yet they manage to line the huts to make them impervious to our scans. Flippin' Romulans."
"Frustrating not to be able to see what's inside, short of breaking in," a security man pitched in, wandering over towards the senior staff.
"And I'd rather not break in till we know what's inside. Catch 22."
At that moment the discussion was interrupted by a beep on Krase's commbadge.
=/\=...Olympia.......team 2.......5 warbirds.......cloaked..........Krase why didn't.........them?=/\=
The Olympia had somehow got a half-transmission through the shield, but it broke up before they could stabilize Gus' voice.
"Sounds like the Olympia's in some trouble. Five D'deridex class warbirds I'd guess."
"I don't believe it!" Krase burst out in frustration. "Five warbirds? A simple tetryon sweep would've detected something that big!"
The attempts of the others to calm him down had limited effect, until it struck him that he would have had no time to perform a tetryon sweep anyway. And even that didn't do much for him.
"I was sent straight to the surface, when did I have time for scans? And Gus has the cheek to ask?" Despite attempts to assure the large Klingon that Gus didn't mean it in any bad way, his frustration was only allieviated by punching a hole right through the hut they were standing by.
The flimsy hut collapsed, and when a number of Romulans crawled out from the ruins it took the engineer and science officer a few seconds to react. Fourtunately by that time the security team with them had rendered all 12 Romulans somewhat less than conscious.
Grabbing the crates, the five personnel backed away to a safe distance, and opened up the heavier equipment boxes. Grabbing a phaser rifle, one of the security personnel made moves towards the remaining buildings, when Jabez put an arm out to stop him.
"I'm the ranking officer here, I'll make the decisions."
"What are your orders sir?" enquired another security team member, poised with one hand on a rifle.
Jabez shifted a crate aside, and opened up another. Shouldering the Isomagnetic Disintegrator he found inside, he gave his orders.
"I say we blast the hell outta them!" With that he let loose with the rocket-launcher like energy weapon, destroying three of the remaining buildings with two shots.
He passed the weapon to Krase to take care of the last structure.
"So glad we brought this along," he muttered, securing the lid back on the case as behind him the final prefab went up in flames.

"Hmmmm seems to me like there having a little troubble up there, we only have 2 more power relays to hit before we can beam out" Said Jabez.
"But from that Distance, how will we be able to get a signal to the Olympia"?
" I belive that I can widen the transmition if I may use someone elses comm badge" Jabez replied.
"Here Take mine" said Spiro "We should be out soon everyone, but the Romulans now know that we are here and have put more security teams on pattrol".
"The good thing is that if they dont drop the shield then they cant beam anyone off the planet, nore can they ge a trannsmittion through, Unless they have adapted, which i doubt" Said the Engeneering chief.
"Hmmmm this is good, were not the only ones down here that are uncomfortable. Ok security teams 1+2 team up teams 3+4 team up lets get this shield down, and get out. Said Lt. Vassiliou.

Now the buildings had been destroyed tricorders were able to scan what was inside. With the rest of the away team beginning to leave the area Krase only had chance to make a few scans. From these scans he was able to establish that the buildings were constructed of some form of fabric, the likes of which Krase had not seen before, and that the Romulans had in their possession some very high spec carrying containers which appeared to be empty. Several questions went through Krases’ mind, the main one being What was going to be carried in those containers? Catching up with the rest of the team Krase pulled Jabez to one side and instructed the others to carry on. Talking to Jabez about the containers the two officers decided that they would return to the site and wait for other Romulans to arrive. They had planned to follow the Romulans in an attempt to uncover the reason they had violated the rules of the Neutral Zone by passing through it with 5, maybe even more war birds, not to mention landing troops on a federation planet!

Cmdr Q2 lay in the building with Ensign Moran providing his only company. The rest of the team had advanced on the remaining power stations, and Q2 had heard a couple of them power down. A while back he had also heard a couple of garbled comm discussions.
As he was considering his current lack of options, he heard the door at the bottom of the building smash open. Q2 grabbed the rifle at his side and aimed it down the corridor. What he saw was brilliant. Lt Vassilou had entered the building with his team, and was rushing towards him.
"You alright Commander?"
"Yah...I'll hold up. You try to take down some more power plants and get me off this rock."
"You know whats happening on the ship?"
"No. I heard some rubbish about 5 warbirds...but I know for a fact there are no more than three. There is a tactical display just over there, check it out."

Walking the site once more, Jabez fiddled with his tricorder. The security team was keeping watch as he and Krase put some thought into the situation. As his fiddling continued, the tricorder gave a momentary beep, before moving to the next setting. Jabez stopped as Krase immediately looked towards him. Shifting back to the setting, the beeping started again.
It appeared that something was hidden beneath the surface. Krase walked to the spot, about in the centre of the previous hut arrangement, and started digging furiously. It wasn't long before he hit something solid, and dragged up a large container. Krase was about to phaser the lock when Jabez stopped him, preferring to opt for a safer route in. It didn't take him long to pick the lock.
Inside was an entirely self contained small panel. It involved a tactical display, a limited plan of the first stages of invasion, and a distress beacon. There were currently in fact just two warbirds in orbit, not the reported five. There also seemed to be some kind of photonic reflector array set up between the two.
"There's a what now?" Krase asked, as Jabez interpreted the panel.
"There's a bleedin' big mirror up there."
"Big mirror, got it."
"Yes, so the Olympia thinks there are five warbirds when there are only two," Jabez clarified.
Just at that moment Q2 commed. According to a display near him, there were three in orbit.
"Well that just complicates issues, either one or both of these displays could be misleading."
"We need to find the master display," Krase started.
"And for that we need to find the master compound."
"And for that we need some Romulans."
Jabez hit the distress beacon activator before shutting the box and walking off. Krase evidently missed what he had just done, as he stood for a moment staring after the engineer, then ran off to keep up.
They spread the security men so the two senior officers could join the lookout ring. Now the Romulans definately knew there was trouble with one of their compounds, they would soon come. Until then, the team could do nothing but wait.

Q2 closed the comm link, and looked up at Ensign Moran who was on the Romulan console.
"Have you managed to locate the master compound."
"There appears to be two of them. I can't tell which is the main one."
Q2 once more tapped his comm badge.
=/\= Jabez, we have located two master compounds. Their locations are: he gave the locations. I am still indisposed. I believe that when you are there you will be able to drop the planetary shield from there. =/\=

Jabez began to shout to the team, to call them together, but was interrupted by a call from across the circle. A team of Romulan marines was arriving. Fortunately they didn't need Romulans anymore, they had the locations.
Calling the team into the centre of the smouldering wreckage, he handed out phaser rifles, and gave Krase the isomagnetic disintegrator. He had a feeling the Klingon would be most able with a large weapon. Fortunately the enemy weren't aware of their presence yet, they wouldn't see the Starfleet team until they cleared the ridge edging the slight bowl that the buildings had been set up in. And they wouldn't reach the ridge for about two minutes yet, which just gave them time.
The three security officers and the science officer lifted one of the flimsy walls, a more in tact one. Standing it up, they leant it against the shoulders of the security officers. Krase then backed off a little with the disintegrator.
Meanwhile, Jabez took an explosives pack from another of the crates. He stuck it to the front of the newly re-erected wall, and quickly hid the equipment crates in the wreckage. He then joined the security team, taking up a phaser rifle himself.
By this time the Romulans were almost upon them. Seeing a single remaining wall with a large Federation something stuck to it, they naturally went over to investigate. What they didn't know was that on the other side was a Federation team, who could see all too well what was going on by virtue of small pierce holes.
The enemy marines reached the wall, stopped and began to examine the packet. They just had time to realise it was an inactive explosive pack before the wall fell on them. Or rather, was pushed. As the wall collapsed into the front marines, the four officers who had been holding it hit the ground, just in time for an isomagnetic burst to sail over their heads. Half the Romulan team was removed from the gene pool immediately, and by the time the remainder had recovered to their feet, Jabez and the security team were finishing the job.
With no more Romulan team, the five assembled for a quick discussion.
"Q2 called just before the Romulans arrived, he gave me the locations we were after."
"I was wondering why we weren't following them," commented Ensign Healey.
"Well I for one am glad we did it this way," Krase said.
"You would be, you got to use that!" Jabez gestured to the large weapon that Krase was just putting down. As Krase nodded his agreement, Jabez instructed the security team to retrieve the equipment crates, so they could pack up and move out. In the meantime, he and the science officer had a quick conference, deciding on one of the two locations to head for.
They were soon packed up and trekking across a variety of terrain, this planet seemed to have very little in the way of consistency. It turned out they were heading for a two square mile clearing in the middle of a jungle area.
"Something worries me about this," Krase said quietly to Jabez.
"I know, where is everyone?" The senior officers were referring to the complete lack of security they had yet encountered, but their worries would be alieviated almost as soon as they found the clearing. Just outside the entrance of what looked like the main complex, two Romulans were having a discussion.
"How are the marine team doing?"
"We lost contact with them a couple of minutes ago." The second Romulan looked worried, an expression that passed to the first along with the information.
"What?! With them gone, and most of the other marines heading out to power stations, we're practically the only guards left here!" the first exclaimed.
"Not practically, we are the only ones here." This statement came as very welcome to the Starfleet men, but not so welcome to the Romulan.
"This is the main base on the entire planet, how can we be the only two left to guard it?" The first of the pointy eared enemy threw down his weapon in disbelief.
"Alright, calm down. It's not as if anyone is ever going to find us here."
"Except us of course," Jabez said loudly, stepping out of the undergrowth and levelling his rifle at the Romulans. The one still holding his weapon started to draw it up towards the engineer, but gave up when Jabez was joined by Krase and three security personnel, all with rifles levelled at the two guards.
Escorting the two Romulans inside, Krase took charge in instructing them to drop the shield. In the meantime, Jabez worked displays to discover there were in fact five warbirds in orbit, no photonic reflector away, just five warbirds. It seems the Romulans were to some limited extent prepared for Starfleet.
=/\=Jabez to Olympia, can you hear us?=/\=
=/\=Comm..er......the Olympi......just read y......request.....port.=/\= Peter Lla's voice came over the comm, but was rather indistinct.
=/\=Olympia, the shield is down, get back to the planet and beam us up, I repeat, get here and beam us up.=/\=
The officers moved quickly to get everyone out of the building, sending the Romulans on their way, unarmed, before planting explosive packs around the complex.
Meanwhile, the Olympia was dodging plasma torpedoes as it headed back to orbit.
Running back towards the jungle, the complex exploded before it should've. Shrapnel and debris flew after the Starfleet personnel, swiftly followed by a field of fire. As the five dived to get under the the projectiles, they saw blue, and found themselves back on the Olympia.
Jabez and two of the security personnel managed to perform neat little rolls as their dives took them off the transporter pad and into the room. Krase, and the other security officer, who was of substantial stature, managed only to sprawl across the grey carpet. Jabez stood and looked towards the console.
"The others?" he questioned the ensign operating the transporter.
"All safely aboard sir, Commander Q2 is in sickbay receiving treatment."
"Thank you ensign," he said as he left the transporter room at some speed. He was swiftly followed by Krase, as the security personnel headed back to their department. Reaching the bridge, they stepped out of the turbolift to find Peter Lla had succesfully maneuvered them around the planet, so they were no longer in view of the warbirds.
Between the two of them, they gave a quick summary of events to the captain. He in return filled them in on the happenings on the ship. They had called for Starfleet backup, but it wouldn't be here for some time. Meantime, JP hadn't reported for duty that morning, and was missing. Spiro had been dispatched as soon as they returned to find him.
They could learn no more as at that time two of the warbirds appeared around the edge of the planet.
"Peter, back us away, Krase take the tactical console, open fire on the lead vessel. Prepare to seperate the ship, we're going to have to fight."
The Prometheus class vessel opened up with phasers and quantum torpedoes, inflicting some damage on the lead warbird. Warnings for imminent seperation were soon joined by damage alarms, as the Romulans returned fire.

Q2 was lying in sickbay when the alarms started sounding. He had been patched up pretty well by Dr Keehn, and was in the process of having bandages put on when they went off. His whole body tensed up, ready to go, but in a calm, but resolute voice the doctor told him that he wasn’t going anywhere.
“I’m sorry Commander, but you are not yet ready to go off an fight again. You will remain here to rest overnight, and then I will see whether you are ready to return to duty.”
Q2 accepted this, until the sirens changed pitch slightly, and the computer, in it’s soft female voice stated:
“Separation imminent. All crew report to battle station.” Q2 sat up in his bed, startling Daya, who toppled backwards. Swinging his legs over the side of the bed, wincing slightly with pain Q2 grinned at the doctor.
“Sorry, but I really got to go. Objection noted Lieutenant.” He stepped down off the bed and rushed to the secondary bridge, which was luckily located close to the sickbay. He entered, and saw that the room was bathed in red light. Seating himself in the Command Chair, the pain in his chest started to alleviate again, and he took hold of the console and swung it around in front of him. He tapped a small button mark ‘Ready’.
The light above it was already lit orange, showing that the primary bridge was ready for separation, and his light was now lit, leaving only the Tertiary bridge to prepare itself. In times of separation, the main bridge was commanded by Duke Nova the captain, he commanded the Secondary Bridge, and JP took the tertiary bridge.
As he waited for the last orange light to glow, he ran through the initiation sequence. He activated all the internal phaser banks, the secondary engines, and the few torpedo bays. He glanced forward at the helm. At it was sat Lt Vianto. She had gone through the academy with Q2, and was one of the best pilots he had seen. She went with him to the Vesuvius, and now the Olympia. She flashed him a quick smile, before continuing with her own preparations.
Q2 heard a quiet bleep, and the final light lit up. All lights were now orange. Patiently Q2 waited for them to turn read, signifying that the primary bridge had activated the sequence. And, indeed within seconds the lights flicked to red, and the ship shuddered. At helm, Vianto’s fingers were calmly manipulating the ship’s thrusters, and soon the view screen at the front of the bridge activated itself, and Q2 could see the now sealed Olympia. Corridors that had been used every day were now closed as the ship separated. The main section now slide further away, and to the right, as Q2’s section moved backwards and to the left, her weapons already majestically flying through space, making lancing blows to the large warbirds.
=/\= All bridges, this is the Captain. Engage Pattern Alpha-Seven-Oh-Six-Phi-Nine. =/\= Duke Nova’s voice came clearly over the comm system. Q2 strained his memory to try and remember what this pattern consisted of, but at helm Vianto had already started on, what was evidently pattern Alpha-Seven-Oh-Six-Phi-Nine. The ship, in relation to the main section, rose, flew diagonally over it, and then finished to the front right of the ship. Meanwhile, the tertiary section had reversed this, and had moved under the ship from right to left. The two sections continued to do this, corkscrewing around the main section which itself was advancing on the warbirds, all weapons firing.
The ship’s had a large range of weapons, Phasers, Pulse Phaser Cannons, Photon and Quantum Torpedoes. All of these now streaked out of the three ships, causing an effect that looked more like an enlarged Cardassian Spiral Wave Disruptor than Federation weapons. The two Romulan warbirds on the other hand, stood their ground firmly, making no advance or retreat. They fired their disruptors at the main ship, although most of the hits were purposely taken by the fast moving out sections, which only were glanced, rather than penetrated. This corkscrew effect was continued, until the three ship’s were within spitting distance of the warbirds, and the Captain made another order.
=/\= All ships, prepare to split up. Main section will continue to spread it’s fire, smaller ships pick the target you are closest to and concentrate all fire. =/\=
Q2 now directed the controls under his fingers, and the weapons concentrated their fire on the right hand warbird. Meanwhile Spiro flew his ship towards the other warbird, also firing all weapons. Q2 frowned. What the hell was Spiro doing? Suddenly, as the small section darted in between the ‘wings’ of the D’deridex class ship, it dawned on Q2, and he ordered his own ship to do the same. They closed in, and just as they themselves darted in between the ‘wings’, the other D’deridex exploded in an outburst of light. Q2 allowed himself a smile, and then when they were half way through the larger vessel.
“Deploy mines.” Three mines dropped out the bottom of the Prometheus-B class section, and as they escaped from the warbird’s grasp, it also exploded. Space shrapnel pounded the shields of all three Federation Vessels. Vianto, Q2 and the rest of the crew in the bridge whooped with joy.
As the commlink opened once more, Q2 could here the cheers coming from the two other bridges.
=/\= Well done everyone, that was mighty fin… Krase, what is that? Norexan Class sir. Norexan… We seem to have a larger problem now people. Prepare for another fight. Nova out. =/\=
Q2 showed his displeasure at the Norexan class vessel by randomly firing a single phaser at it, which simply ‘pinged’ off the shields.
OOC: Norexan class: As seen in Nemesis. Not Shinzon’s vessel, but one of the ones that came to lend it’s assitance. Rather large!

Jabez broke the defeaning silence, his voice transmitting across the open comm channels to all sections of the split ship. "I think I speak for everyone here sir when I say, awww frell."
Commodore Nova allowed himself a slight smile in the face of adversity. "Peter, back us off, suggestions?" he almost shouted. All three sections backed away from the imposing Norexan class warbird, flanked by the remaining two D'deridex's.
=/\=Jabez, I thought you said there were five D'deridex classes?=/\= Q2's voice transmitted from the secondary section.
=/\=I said warbirds, I thought one of the symbols on the display looked a little different, but I wasn't sure, I just thought that was the commanding vessel.=/\=
"Well either way, that probably is the lead vessel, right?" Krase chipped in.
"Exactly, so we really need to take that vessel out." the captain concluded.
"I have a plan sir, permission to leave the bridge, and take Krase with me," Jabez offered. He had felt rather useless up til this point. With JP missing, Jabez should have been commanding the tertiary section. Obviously Spiro was doing a great job of it, but he was the senior officer, and should have taken command. The seperation order had happened so quickly that he didn't have time to get down to the tertiary bridge. Now he had the opportunity to help.
"Permission granted," the captain replied, knowing it was the only plan they had. =/\=All sections retreat to the other side of the planet, maintain standard orbit there. We'll remain seperated for now.=/\=
By the time Commodore Nova had finished his declaration, Krase and Jabez were already half-way to their destination, the launch room for the aft quantum torpedo tube. They would have to use the aft room, as it was set up differently to the fore rooms, being usually out of operation, covered by the secondary section.
Upon reaching the launch room, they backed the ready-torpedo out of the tube, and opened it up.
"What exactly are we doing?" asked Krase, handing Jabez tools as requested.
"Modifying a torpedo."
"Funnily enough I'd figured that out. Would you like to give me more specifics?"
Jabez proceded to launch into explaining every little action he was performing, in great detail. After about five minutes, he was finished, and Krase was getting rather irate. Fortunately, he was an experienced science officer, and so understood what was going on.
"So basically, this quantum torpedo now has the yield and explosion pattern of a tri-colbolt?"
"That's pretty much it," confirmed the engineer, as they replaced the torpedo.
Upon reaching the bridge once more, Krase took his native science station and Jabez relieved the lt at tactical. Just seconds later, the remaining Romulan vessels crept around the planet, into view for just a second before cloaking.
"Phaser bursts, all banks, all lateral bearings," Duke quickly ordered, and the tactical crew of each section quickly responded, opening up the phaser banks in all directions.
A lucky hit struck one of the D'deridex's, and so phaser fire was immediately concentrated on that area, quickly knocking out the warbird's cloaking device. The other vessels quickly decloaked, rather than leaving a single warbird to take on the Prometheus class vessel.
Photon torpedoes were ordered away, and were quickly met with a return of plasma torpedoes. The Norexan class was armed to the teeth. The primary section was receiving most of the fire, and so Commodore Nova tried to back them off, but it didn't work quickly enough, as they took a final volley of disruptor fire before leading the retreat.
When the smoke cleared on the main bridge of the Olympia, Jabez staggered to his feet and turned off the warning bells. They had scored a direct hit on the bridge, and while the hull and shields were holding, they had been badly shaken. Officers and crewmen were lying all over the place. Most of them slowly got to their feet, Peter with some blood dripping down his face. The captain did not get up immediately, and indeed stayed down sufficiently long for Gus to check him.
"He's unconscious."
"Aww, frell," Jabez exclaimed once more.
"Sir?" Gus questioned.
"That means I'm in charge." He was right, in the absence of the captain and first officer, and with Q2 commanding the tertiary section, he was now in command.
"Gus, find the nearest medical staff and get the captain some attention. We'll use the observation lounge as a makeshift sickbay. Lt Quinn, help him get the captain and any other seriously injured crew in there." The seriously injured crew consisted Commodore Nova and two crewmen. Walking briskly the few steps from the science station, he took a seat in the big chair at the centre of the bridge and continued. "Krase, report."
"Minor damage to several decks, four casualties reported, none dead. We were the worst hit, there's nothing else to worry about."
"Peter, retreat us to the next planet, take us into the rings, and call up the other sections, put them on conference."
The young Trill's hands flew over the controls, and Spiro and Q2's faces appeared on a split screen on the viewer.
"How is everyone holding up?"
"Minor damage, but mostly fine," replied Q2, commanding the secondary section.
"Barely scratched the paintwork," Spiro added from the tertiary section.
"Right, here's the situation, the captain is unconscious, he's fine but will need a few hours. Meantime I'm in command here. We just need to get one shot on the lead vessel from our aft tube. Suggestions?"
After a moments thought, Q2 quickly formulated a plan. "I'll strafe in and try to draw fire from the D'deridex's, Spiro, you lead in on the Norexan, try to draw their fire. That'll hopefully leave you free to get your shot Jabez."
"Sounds good," Spiro offered, "but you won't have much time Jabez, are you sure you can make it?"
"Absolutely, lets do it," Jabez issued the command, ending the conference. "Peter, do you know how to powerslide a Prometheus-A section?"
"There's an asteroid field simulator at the academy. I practically majored in powersliding the simulator's Defiant class," he replied.
"Good good, just don't reverse us into any asteroids."
Shooting him a quick smile, Peter brought the ship about and headed slowly out of the planet's rings. With one of the warbird's cloak still inoperative, the three enemy vessels remained in the open. Lt Vianto started up the secondary section, and headed in to lead the charge. Jabez didn't know who was at the helm of Spiro's section, but he quickly followed suit, performing a neat little dink across the path of the primary section. Peter held back for a few seconds before following in on a direct course for the Norexan class vessel.
The plan began to work, as Q2 performed fly-bys on first one D'deridex then the other, Vianto directing the ship close enough to make a captain spill his ale. Nearly all the fire of the D'deridex classes was falling on them, but the ship was dinking away from a good deal of it. Spiro meanwhile was strafing the lead vessel, but was taking heavy fire and his shields were close to collapse. Now was the time.
"Krase, be ready with that torpedo. Peter, slide in 3...2...1...now!"
On Jabez' mark, Lt Lla's hands worked the navigational panel at furious speed, charging at the Norexan class warbird before turning at the last second, and sliding backwards towards the imposing vessel.
"Now Krase, now!" He didn't have to tell the Klingon twice, as the souped up quantum torpedo sped away. Jabez only had an instant to hope this hit, as they didn't have the resources to make another, and were all out of back-up plans.
The torpedo ran true, and struck at the very heart of the sleek warbird. All three sections turned back towards their safe haven, the rings of the next planet, and engaged at full impulse, just keeping ahead of the shokwave from the massive explosion.

Just as aromulan ship pulled into direct focus with all the Olympias weapons the fired Olympia brased and fired everything at the main ship. Just as the Olympias torpeodoes his the roumulan ship all the other Roumilan ships diaspeared. "Cmdr report" said JP " The must have been holograms but with enough energy put into them.............. i have no idea sir" said Weill " The roumlans have developed holgrams that can fight the battles of norma ships" " Well we havnt got time to worry about that, head directley for the main Romulan ship and pound them with everything weve got" said the Commodore

The staff nurse was somewhat startled by Gus’ outburst. Gus’ console had exploded during one of the initial attacks and he was knocked out. Since then he had been receiving treatment, and from the sounds of it his mind was carrying on its own little battle.
***back on the bridge***
Krase scanned his console and turned to face Jabez
“The enemy ship has been destroyed, there were no survivors”
“And the other ships?” replied Jabez, in a somewhat sombre tone they were Romulans, but killing over 1200 of them does something to you.
“When we entered the rings they disappeared form our sensors. They have either cloaked or saw the imminent destruction and moved to the other side of the planet”
“Good, that should give us some time to repair some key systems, assign as many people as we can spare to begin repairs yourself included.”
“aye sir” replied Krase as he stood up and signalled to 2 other crew members on the bridge to follow him.
“I want of the most injured to be beamed across to sickbay. I also want all crew to be reassigned as best we can so that none of the ships are short handed.” Instructed Jabez.
[glow=red,2,300]OOC: sorry gus but holograms were ruled out earlier. also the lead ship was destroyed by the torp. not to mention the fact that the captain has been knocked out[/glow]

" Take him to sickbay Ensign Keith" " what Commander wha have i done" sad Weill with suprise " Dont ask stupid questions" said JP Weill could not believe it he had been treated so badly but just as he got out of turbolift 4 he remembered about holograms and many other things. " Ensign were there any holograms that attacked us" " Not that i know of sir" " So what did i say" " you stated going on about holograms and nowone knows why" " Well i want this cleared up i dont want to be treated as a mad man" " Yes Sir"
Weill entered the sick bay where the a Doctor was standing with the Counsellor
" What are you doing here counsellor" said Weill " i was asked to come and see if you are okay by the Doctor and Captain" " Oh i see, what is wrong with me" " waves" " Wave?" " Yes Waves" " yes i know what you said i mean what waves" " Oh i see a group of tricandian waves eminating from a cloked probe hit you" " Popycock i would have seen it" " Not this one you didnt" " well how did it just hit me not anyone else" " The beam was directed to your station that is why you only noticed it after a while. Sureley you would have noticed holograms earlier." " yes even i'm not that incompetent not to see holograms for what they are and tactical would have noticed it to"
OFF Sorry i have an explanation to put us on track

Weill was looking around and he saw 2 biobeds and they were blurred, he than looked around to see a swaying Doctor "Whats going on Doc" " I gave you an hypospray, sorry about the discomfort, it should clear up in a minuite" His vison cleared and he made his way to the door but he had no idea hwre he was supposed to go. Was he back on duty or was he still suspeneded. " Doctor, can i go back on duty" " You can but i would advice rest until an emergency at least 2 days, i have cleared it with the Captain"
Weill left sickbay and the panel were spattering flicks of light and the entire ship looked severley damaged, he hadnt realized how bad the romuans had been. He walked into turbolift 11, to his delight the young Ensign and exstremeley attractive He decided to play it cool he hadnt had a girlfriend since he came onboard and he should see "Ensign, what is your name" " My name is Sarah Nichols Sir" The two chatted i the turbolift for about 3 minuites and than they both got out on deck 4. Their quarters were just about oppsoite each other. The Ensign invited the Commander in, the quarters were cramped and very clostofobic "Ensign would you like to come over for a drink" " I would love to sir, my room mates arent very tidy"TEXT After the meal Weill went back to his desk and checked up on the wormen she was his new Operations assistant who had temporarley been working in security, he felt deivided.
