ooc: welcome aboard mr Farquhar (I hope I spelled that right...Im so bad at remembering names!) your instructor is Commander Crave Wesson.
IC:
Last minute, S'reena ordered Dontai to go with the landing party and provide protection of them and the Borg colony along with a small security detail. "Remember, fire only when fired upon, we have peaceful intentions," she pressed, before she dismissed the cadet from the bridge. She had come to know him as someone who loved action and brandished his phaser, but this away mission would be a test to his patience. Yet, she had every confidence that the young man would pull through all right. Crave Wesson would remain behind to introduce a new cadet to the trade, one who would arrive shortly, despite the chance of more Maquis coming up.
They were fortunate that sensors were still fully operational, even though the shields were at a low percentage. This way, they could follow the away team. "Ms Paris, bring us into a standard orbit around Theta Aries," she ordered, as she picked up a PADD cadet Zoë had pressed in her hands prior to heading off to the transporter room, and report in for away misson duty. S'reena was impressed with the young Trill's performance and she made a mental note to tell Yrdis about it.
She picked up another PADD, and read a message telling her that they would also be expecting an engineering cadet by the name of Gary Owens. Turning, she handed up the PADD to Commander Rio, who was sitting at the bridge engineering station for the time being. "New cadet," she told him, and fixed her gaze on the main screen again. Gordon had guided Paris into entering standard orbit, and she'd performed quite well.
"S'reena to away team, what is your status?" she called. Static. "S'reena to away team, please respond." Again, static. "Ops, get me the away team, now!" she snapped, turning to face Albert Hawking and Ms Shakespeare. She had no time to be worried about ánd the captain ~her primary worry~ ánd the away team ~more or less the priority~

The battle and the aftermath left the ops team rather busy. Damage reports had come on from all over the ship. Although most of it didn’t seem very serious, the leak in the port nacelle was. Hawking had Ms Shakespeare handling the inventory, while he himself tried to coordinate repair teams with engineering. He had gotten word another engineering cadet was on his way. They could use the extra hands.
“Power conduits have been restored,” Hawking managed to report after a while, “Power available throughout the ship. Work on port nacelle still in progress.”
S’reena nodded in reply, taking in the information. The various cadets who had gone on the away mission had been replaced by junior staff members. She was following the cadets progress on the planet with interest.
"S'reena to away team, what is your status?" she called. Static. "S'reena to away team, please respond." Again, static. "Ops, get me the away team, now!" she snapped, turning to face Albert Hawking and Ms Shakespeare.
Hawking looked up. This wasn’t part of the plan. Quickly he went over the control panels. Trying to boost the signal. “Still nothing ma’am,” Hawking said and turned to his cadet, “Ms. Shakespeare, try filtering the static.” Shakespeare worked franticly trying to restore the connection. She shook her head. “No use sir,” she reported, “We’ve lost contact.”

Without a word word Crave dragged the helpless Marcell under a shower. “Computer, ice cold shower,” he ordered without pity. Crave had always disliked people that drank so much that they became incapable of properly functioning. Five minutes seemed to be enough, and Crave wrapped Tony in blankets before escorting his captain to the brig. “You’ll be confined here untill you are sober again captain,” Crave said, activating the forcefield.
Just as Crave went towards the bridge to check on Dontai the ship shook violently, causing Crave to trip. Crave cursed, but luckily no one was around to report it. He got up, and had difficulty keeping his balance due to the ship’s unpredictable moves. “Bridge,” Crave called at the turbolift when he’d managed to get into it.
It was hectic on the bridge, and Crave found Dontai manning the security station. The main view screen showed how Dontai very accurately took care of the Maquis ship’s engines. “Excellent job, cadet,” Crave said looking over Dontai’s shoulder. “Just doing my job sir,” Dontai replied. “Keep on doing it this way and we’ll survive,” Crave winked.
They had arrived at the colony, and S’reena dispatched an away team. Dontai was to join. “Dontai,” Crave called after him, “I know we got off on the wrong foot a bit, but you did a great job so far, instructors still have things to learn too, you know. Good luck down there cadet, I’m sure you’ll manage.” “Thank you commander,” Dontai said, joining the others.
“You’ll stay aboard to welcome your other cadet,” S’reena notified Crave. “I’d already figured ma’am,” Crave winked, taking the security console until cadet Farquhar’d arrive, monitoring both the surroundings and the away team’s status.

YrDis opened his eyes and took a deep breath as he materialized on Theta Aries. The technology on Ornara wasn't nearly as advanced as the Federations, and he had yet to get used to being transported. He supposed that he would get used to it, but the concept of having his molecules pulled apart then reassembled by a computer was disquieting.
Looking around, he could see that the team was standing in the middle of a small open field, surrounded by shrubs. In the distance to the northeast, he noticed the tops of what looked like buildings. There was a column of smoke rising from the area of the buildings as well.
He turned and took a quick look at the away team. Dontai and the security team had already started running a fast perimeter check of the transport area, moving quickly and efficiently. Black, along with Cadets Tintagel and Zoe had their tricorders out and were scanning the area, while he was essentially doing nothing. (OOC Sorry, but I'm not sure if I have everyone who is supposed to be here on the away team. If you think that you should be along as well, please just post in. Thanks.)
He watched as Black looked at his tricorder in a puzzled fashion, then went over to examine Tintagel's and Zoes. Then the Doctor walked over to YrDis, looking a little worried.
"Commander Blayne, none of the tricorders are returning any information. It's like they're being jammed."
"All right, thank you doctor." YrDis turned and waved Cadet Dontai to his side. "Cadet, we need to get to that group of buildings over there. Our tricorders are being jammed. Please organize the security team for maximum protection and then start moving north east."
< Dontai>
Shortly, the away team started moving towards the Borg town.

Illito waited for the security team to be prepared, her eyes following Commander Blayne's worried glance at the smoke. She felt much the same way that she supposed he did. The smoke was rather worrying. She hoped the people, ex-borg though they may be, weren't in the buildings.
Illito wondered why Starfleet made tricorders that could be so easily jammed. And would the Maquis be doing the jamming? What good would that do, wouldn't that just alert Starfleet that something was wrong? It seemed more like the Maquis to make the tricorders have a false reading. Unless there was a specific reason why they didn't want the away team to be able to scan the area, or contact the ship. Then again, Dr. Black had said that it was like the tricorders were being jammed. Was it possible that there was just something in the atmosphere. She smiled slightly, she guessed that Starfleet technology wasn't that superior. She shrugged, and noticed that the security team seemed to be ready now.
As they headed towards the north-east, Illito found herself slightly annoyed at the pace that was being kept. More precisely, it was too slow. Couldn't the others see that there were people who needed help, and they sooner that they could get to the Borg, the higher the Borg's chance of survival was? Illito supposed that there was a reason they were walking slow, it probably provided better security. She slowed her pace to match the others.
As they got closer, she found that she could smell the smoke.

Dontai Was standing in front of commander Hope listing to her with full attention, though the biggest thing he like was waring the phaser. It was the bigest reason he was happy to be joining the away team. Though it was a Fact that he would obey Ma'am hope till his death. In my death are in my life, it my sworn duty to protected this ship and it's crew and the federation. Now he had the ultimate ornament to show for it: a phaser and a combadge.
"Commander Hope You have my word and my promise and my blessing that i wont fail you Commander in this task you have appointed to me." * Dontai Bows to commander Hope and walks to the turboLift . *
AS Dontai head towards the turboLift he runs in to his CTSO Instructor Crave. " Your late sir, you missed all the fun," Dontai said whith a smile " “Excellent job, cadet,” Crave said looking at Dontai " thank your sir, lol Just doing my job sir. Yeh acource we will survive we have you dont we sir. Well looks like your going to get the boring shift sir. Though i took care of everything you being late and all.I hope the captain didn't give to much trouble. The maquis gave me plenty." Dontai said whith a chuckle " I have to go get ready, you better watch my six's while im on the planet's surface thoes maquis may come back, but im sure you can handle it. Good luck Sir." * Dontai walks in to the Turbolift and S-alutes Crave and then the bridge crew as it start to descend.*
<In the armory>
" OK, people this is a open and shut case in and out. Remember i am in charge of this small security detail. Set your weapons to stun, Rifle for range and hand phaser close in. We will be using close formation, So surround the away team. Check every inch of the landing site. I want no leaks, no one hurt. If that all let go let go Let Go! To the transporter Room in 5 min"
<In the Transporter room>
Dontai walk in to the Transporter room and on to the Transporter pad whith his team - "Energize!"
Off: your a crasy site thinks S-alutes is cussword what the heck people, the millatry do it. I mean this is just Stupid!

OOC - Sorry for the late start, but this post will hopefully make up for it...This starts at the beginning of the mission.
IC
Commander Rio walked into Engineering, where he saw several men standing over a console, looking very flustered.
"What seems to be the problem, men?" He asked them as he approached the station.
"Commander Rio? Sir, we have a minor emergency. The quantum flow regulator on the warp core is giving intermittent Amathon bursts. It is causing the core to shudder, and quake the vessel. How shall we proceed?" One man wearing ensign insignia asked.
"Well, Ensign, in order to access the regulator, the core must be shutdown completely. Is the pulse affecting any other systems?"
"No sir, this is isolated to he core."
"Very well. Take the core offline, and inform me when all stats read zero."
"Understood Commander."
James watched as the three men worked at different consoles, regulating the shutdown. He walked up to the warp core, and crawled under the bronze ring circling the core. He watched as the core went black and motionless, and the hum from it ceased. He heard one man confirm engine shutdown complete, and he began work. He removed the protective cover from the core's lower access panel, and removed the quantum flow regulator's control module. He scaned it with his tricorder, and confirmed that the unit was faulty, and needed to be replaced. Fortunately, they were still at Starbase, so he contacted the parts depot on the base, and had a new module sent immediately. He spent a few minutes installing and calibrating the regulator, and he replaced it back into the core. He ran several diagnostics, and confirmed that the new regulator was in fact aligned properly, so he resealed the core's access panel, and initialized the core startup. In about half an hour, the core was fully up and running again.
He felt glad that he had accomplished this, and left engineering. He now decided that he best go to the engineering station on the bridge, to help be in constant commnication with the CO. He rode the turbolift up, and exited it onto the bridge. He greeted Commander Hope as he walked by the command chair, and sat into the vacant seat.

Zoë jogged to the transporter room after handing Commander Hope her PADD. She hadn't been able to get much rest, but was too nervous/excited about the mission ahead to care.
They beamed down without incident and her first view of the planet was not what she expected. Small shrubs and a city in the distance with smoke eminating from it. She pulled out her tricorder along with Dr. Black and Cadet Tintagel. It didn't work, not matter how she tried to fiddle with it. Dr. Black told Commander Blayne of the problem
The security team hopped into action and soon they were on their way. they moved closer and closer to the city until...
*SWISH SWISH SWISH*
Out of the trees surrounding the city came Borg, and lots of them, they had weapons pointed at the team. Zoë looked to Everyone looked to Commander Blayne, it was the Counsellor's job to establish first contact and be in charge of negotiations and to Zoë's wonderment he turned to Zoë and nodded. Zoë gulped then stood forward with her hands out so they could see she had no weapon.
"We are from the Federation, we got your distress signal and have come to help." she said not making any sudden movements.

She was once again nervous because this was her first away mission, and she wasn't sure what to expect. Her instructor could see it written all over her face and told her to just relax. She tried but it wasn't working. Franklin went over everything they would need for the away mission, and she paid attention ignoring how she was feeling. In the transporter room on the pad again her feelings hit her all over again, and she had to think of something else as she beamed down.
Once down on the planet, Dontai had the secrity team surrounding the away team, which she thought was a little strange. Seeing a gap in the team around her, she slips away with some of her gear to do some research, and no one but Franklin notices.
In the mountains, she comes in contact with a family, and she smiles a greeting. The two children watch her as she sets up for a sample test of the rocks and minerals around her. She doesn't think she will find anything, but it is worth a shot.
"What are you doing?" The little girl asks watching her like a hawk.
"I am testing the rocks for certain minerals, somebody was attacking your people a couple of hours ago, and I want to see if there are any minerals they wanted. I am waiting to see what the result is. If I don't get an answer here, then I will travel higher into the mountains." She says looking at the girl for only a moment, then turning back to her test, which shows nothing. She packs her gear, and then turns to the family.
"Hello, sir, I am a member of a team, who heard the distress signal from this planet a few hours ago. Do you know why this planet was attacked?" She says not wanting to mention the dying sun. Before he can answer, Franklin shows up behind her, and she smiles.
"They have been attacking us for the last couple of days, and we are glad you have come. We were told they want this planet for some kind of experiment, and that we were to evacuate. We of course refused them, and now they are trying to get us to leave." He says looking at us. I thank them and leave with Franklin following me. It starts to piece together for me, and I realize we have to get to the top of the mountain.
"Hey, sir, are you up for a little mountain climbing?" She says grinning from ear to ear sheepishly.

Illito's first instinct when she saw the Borg was to remain as still as possible, and not to draw any attention to herself. She moved her head a little to look at Commander Blayne, she believed that he was in supposed to take charge of this situation. She was a little surprised that he given the responsibility to Zoe, but she guessed that if Commander Blayne thought Zoe was ready, she probably was. It also made her feel more comfortable with the situation. If the commander was letting a Cadet take charge, they probably weren't in too much danger.
Zoe moved to the front of the group, slowly, her hands out.
Half of the Borg lowered their weapons, which was probably a sign that they were ready to negotiate. Either that or that had been expecting more people, and decided they didn't need as many weapons. She thought it was more likely the first option. Of course, even if it was didn't mean that the Borg weren't going to be killing anyone, it just meant that they wouldn't be killing anyone anytime soon. It wasn't really that comforting.
One of the Borg, whom Illito thought was the leader, looked piercingly at everyone. Maybe it was just nervousness, but it seemed like the Borg focused more on her than on anyone else.
"Yes," it said. "You do appear to be from the Federation."
Now it made sense that it had looked longer at her than at the others, she thought to herself. If the Borg wanted confirmation that the team wasn't a trick from the Maquis, what better proof than the fact that there was a Cardassian along?

YrDis stood quietly as the Borg cautiously looked over the Federation away team. Cadet Zoë seemed to be doing fine in attempting to contact the alien group. He thought that they were concentrating a bit on cadet Illito, probably as she was a Cardassian, an obvious enemy of any Maquis.
"Yes," it said. "You do appear to be from the Federation" a fairly large Borg said. It appeared he was the leader. "And I recognize your rank insignia. You are a cadet" he said, gesturing at Zoë, Illito and Dontai. "You are a commander and you a lieutenant. I'm glad that the Federation has responded to our signal, but why are cadets being sent?"
YrDis grimaced slightly. That wasn't the reaction he had been hoping for. He decided to enter into the conversation. "I am Commander Blayne, USS Hanson. We're here to offer assistance if you still require it. All of our cadets are highly trained and are as capable of assisting you as any Starfleet personel. What is the status of your settlement?"
"Our status is that we have been attacked by the Maquis. We don't know why, but they have abducted several Borg and have been stealing our supplies and some of the items that we have been producing. Our town is damaged and we have many casualties" the Borg reported.
"Well, as I said, we're here to assist. Please take us to your town. We would have gotten there faster, but our tricorders are jammed" YrDis said.
"Yes, Federation technology" the Borg said disdainfully. He turned slightly and nodded at one of the other Borg, who tapped a button on his arm implant. Abruptly, the away teams tricorders started beeping.
"Thanks, uh..." YrDis said, leaving the sentence hanging.
"My name is Sirvan. I was formerly second of 12 before I released myself from the collective" the Borg informed them.
YrDis quickly introduced Sirvan to the rest of the away team, then the Borg and Federation parties continued on their way to the Borg town.

Illito looked at the beeping tricorder. That probably meant the commbadges were also working. Shouldn't they contact the ship? She glanced at Sirvan, wondering if he might object if she were to contact the ship. She decided that she could ask.
"Would it be okay if we contacted our ship and let them know that we are all right?" she asked, ignoring the sharp glance from Dontai. Once she had started asking the question, she was hardly about to stop. Besides, she might get an affirmative response. The Borg were already pointing weapons at them, but she doubted that they would shoot her over something as trivial as a question.
Then again, the Borg adjusted their weapons, and it seemed like they almost might shoot her. She waited tensely as Sirvan signaled his men to relax. She could tell that the Borg felt that they needed the Federation's help, and that the Borg weren"t exactly happy about it. "Yes," said Sirvan. "Contact your ship, if you must."
Illito smiled at him, then tapped her commbadge. "Away team to Commander Hope."
"Commander Hope here." Illito heard the response. "What's your status?" Illito was a little surprised, the Commander sounded worried.
"We're fine. There was a little," Illito hesitated, before deciding which word to use. "There was a little interference on this end, our tricorders and commbadges were jammed. It seems to have cleared up now. We've met with the Borg and are proceeding to their town." Illito hoped that she had covered everything that should have been covered. "Cadet Tintagel out."
Illito looked at Sirvan. "Thank you." She nodded to him. She also glanced at Dontai, and nodded at him too. She didn't really mind that he had objected, she was just happy that she had been right. She was pretty sure that he felt the same way.

Dontai only blinked once before he was on the planet. He closed his eyes and then open his eyes and saw at least 15 borg surrounding them and 25 more in the background.
"It ok im dontai of the Federation of planets were help, this is the away team. There just going to do some test make sure every thing ok. Ok boy surround the away team, begin making sweeps, but dont restrict their movements.
Security personel 1: "Sir, Anderson just slipped past us should we let her go?"
" YES, just keep a eye on her, make sure she dont get herself in to trouble. I want damage estimate cost ,cover value and perimeter sweeps. Load in sector 001, alpha miner 1-2 FoxTrot. Let move out. Free people you can lower your weapon were here to help.
Dontai begin to walk in to town. Several buiding on the out side of town were on fire and burning. Most of town look like the out side of cube or for that matter the inside of it dontai though. they probably were ship survivors use part of their ship to start their colony and and used Borg design for most of the building some though look kind like fed shelter design. quick and efficient. Dontai almost cried when he got pretty close to the center of town. It was in ruin, several craters liter the town, from phaser fire. Several Building were on fire. The ExBorg were trying to unburie , several of their kind that was buried under several feet of rubble. Countless body laid on the ground, some in the rubble or in the building being burned to a crisp with it. Far up the road the Exborg were counting their dead and morning. Several building were gone other in pieces are turned to ruble. Many of the larger building collapse on top of the smaller building. This was a small colony, So there wasnt much to save it would be easy to blast it from the records and the maquis new this. There was even signs of house to house fighting. He was right before, they did try to invade them. To bad for them we showed up, and stopped them, before this atrocity got any worse. This wasn't even a fight, this was a slaughter, they barely had any small arms weapons, not to mention they didnt have anything that could even reach the orbiting attacking ship!

The town was a wreck. It looked worse than Lakarian City, on Cardassia. Maybe that was because this place still had people in it, and remainders of buildings. She glanced at Dr. Black, then at the Borg. The rescue effort obviously needed to be organized. As it was now, it seemed like everyone was trying to rescue the people they cared most about. While it was admirable, it was likely to cause more harm than good. She looked at Dr. Black, hoping for approval to go about trying to salvage the situation. He seemed to be willing to listen, and this situation seemed like it called more for medical help than anything else.
She walked up to Sirvan. “You want us to help with this, right?” she asked quietly.
“Yes,” he said, slightly wary.
“Good,” Illito replied. “Can you help me organize your people?” At his nod, she continued. “Make sure that anyone who is too upset to be of any help stays out of the way.”
He looked at her, offended. “None of my people are too upset over what has already happened that they can’t take care of those who are still alive.”
Illito could tell that he thought higher of his people than what actually seemed to be the case. “Whatever,” she said. “Just make sure that they don’t get in the way.” She glanced around the town again, trying to decide where to begin. “Maybe you can send the weaker ones and the ones who don’t want to deal with bodies to fetch water.” She glanced at Dr. Black. “Even if we don’t need it to put out the fires, we will need it to take care of the people still living.”
She looked at Dr. Black and asked him quietly; “Is there a better way to put out the fires?”
<tag Dr. Black>
She nodded at his response and continued talking to Sirvan. “How do your people like to dispose of the dead?”
“In general, burial,” he said.
“Okay,” she said. That would make it harder, but not impossible. “Then have your people move the dead away from the burning buildings, and bury them. The dead bodies could cause disease, and I think it would be best if we could prevent that. Try to get those still living rescued from under the rocks.” Illito paused for a couple of seconds, thinking. She wondered if it would be possible to vaporize the rubble on top of the people without vaporizing the people themselves. She wasn’t sure, so she decided not to take the chance that she was wrong. “Make sure the wounded are moved away from the buildings, into a field, or some other large, open space.”
“I will do that,” Sirvan remarked.
“Thank you.” Illito turned to look at the rest of the away team. “Anyone who thinks they can help with taking care of the wounded, please do. The rest of you can help with whatever you think you would be best at.” She waited until most of the people were gone.
“Cadet Dontai?” she asked.
“Yes?” he responded.
“Do you know were Cadet Anderson and her instructor went?”
“I’ll try to find them,” Dontai said.
“Thanks,” Illito responded, before hurrying off to help Dr. Black with the wounded.

"REPORT!" shouted Ado Tahl, marching onto the bridge his worn, genuine leather boots echoing on the deckplates. His first officer Elizabeth Hart, a former starfleet doctor turned against the hypocratic oath by the violence of the war- answered, her hands running across the console.
"76 left alive," She said her voice un-emotional to the death she was reporting, "We would of killed the rest of them if the federation ship hadn't arrived."
Ado slammed his fist on his chair. They had almost completed their attack on the borg colony, when the ship- the USS Hanson- had came to the rescue of the Borg.
"How long until we can go back in to finish it?" He said.
"Our damage is minimal, but it wil be atleast an hour. Ado, our ship is no match for that vessel."
He frowned at her. The technolodgy that Borg colony posessed could help in the attempt to restrengthen the Maquis. There was so little of them left it would be nearly impossible to create their own colony without it. Farm animals and vegtable gardens could only go so far.
"How much damage did we do to them?" He asked.
"They were still at 90% sheild strength when we retreated." She replied, meeting his gaze.
The man at the ops console interupted, "There's federations officers on the planet, Ado. About 10 of them."
"There trying to help them. So Naive...." Ado spoke through clenched teeth, "They federation don't understand what goes on outside the protection of their cozy little federation."
The crew remained silent during the variation of Ado's familiar speech, but Ado was disturbed from his words by a alarm from the communications panel.
"We're recieving a notice from the Hanson."
"They're trying to negotiate." Ado said knowningly but Elizabeth countered him.
"No, it's a private channel... it's a message, not a transmission. No visual. No audio. It's simple text."
Ado didn't hesitate, "Read it...."

When Tony woke from his sleep he noticed that the cadet had left. Zoe or whatever her name was had seemingly gave up and left. He saw the cold cup laying on the floor beside him and his uniform placed on a chair.
Upon his awakening he had already developed his plan. His mind was fresh with ideas. Meriah was dead. His sister was dead. His brother hadn't spoke to him since he was 27. His parents hadn't even tried to contact him for a year. All he had had left was the Hanson and Starfleet.
But now he had lost that too. They wouldn't let him back in command after this. He was a drunk, and drug abuser. The starfleet would think it insane to put a man like that in charge of ship of impressionable cadets.
His life had been disintegrating for the last 5 years. Meriah's death and his removal from the command chair was just the finale of his life destroying itself.
Antony K'tol's Marcell's life up to this moment was 1 big disaster.
It was time to start again.
His mind whiring with his enthusiastic thoughts, he emerged from the blankets and slipped on his uniform, quietly as possible as to not disturb the officer gaurding him.
Now it was time to see if S'reena had thought it nesessary to strip him of his command codes. Though it was protocol to do so when a commanding officer was deemed unable to command the vesssel, she had chucked him in here to sleep off his drinking. S'reena wouldn't have felt the need to take away the command codes.
In a whisper, he uttered, "Computer deactivate forcefeild, clearence Marcell-delta-41418934-T." In a blink the forcefeild disapeared and Tony jumped on the gaurd ouside his door. He grabbed onto the man's neck and threw him to the ground with a violent force he wouldn't have managed in his previous life. He then went after him and delivered a blow to the man's head that put him out cold.
Leaving the golden-clad officer on the floor he moved to the console. He composed a simple text message and directed it to the Maquis vessel.
On the message he sent the sheild frequency to the Hanson and message that read the following:
Maquis vessel,
I need transportation off this ship. I wish to join the Maquis. Here are the sheild frequencies. Get me on your ship and I will help you.
Within moments of sending the message the ship shook violently and Tony was surrounded in a transporter beam.

The Borg seemed cautious, as was understandable in their position. She was utterly and totally thankful when Commander Blayne stepped in. It just boosted her confidence in him as a teacher, she listened carefully to what he said and how he said for future reference.
Zoë was also thankful that their equipment was working again, that had really started to worry her. Cadet Tintangel let the Hanson know they were ok. After some more brief words, they moved on to the city.
They city was utterly and totally decimated and Zoë was saddened to see it. Nobody should have to live through this type of carnage, ever. Cadet Tintagel was talking to Silvan about the situation. The heat of the flames could be felt and the smoke filled the air as Zoë took in the scene
Everyone sememd preoccupied with security perimeters for Dontai and his team and Tintagel was heading the medical facilities under the watchful eye of Dr. Black. She haden't seen Anderson or Franklin lately but heard Tintagel tell Dontai to find them. Everyone seemed to be working together and that was a good sign. What about her? What was her place here? She stopped to think...she supposed two pairs of hands were always useful and so she proceeded to help in anyway she could.
She wrapped banadages, carried things, did triage for the medical staff, helped console families along with Commander Blayne. It was busy and tiring work, so much needed to be done and they worked at it for hours on end.
Zoë was walking near the command center for the team when she heard a soft cry. She walked towards the sound cautiously looking around for any sense of a trap by the Marquis. When she reached her destination her eyes went wide.
It was a child, a human child, what was he doing here? In this area? In a Borg town? She moved closer...
It was a good thing she had been on edge, or she would have been killed. Instead she got hit by the shot in her shoulder as she watched Marquis pour from the seemingly out of no where. she grabbed the child and ran as fast as she could while shouting into her badge and as loud as she could
"They're here! They're here!"
Her shoulder hurt like she couldn't imagine as she carried the child and ran towards the camp. The others had already sprung into action. Dontai's team was fast and efficently into position and the others were herding the people or grabbing weapons.
She ran up to Commander Blayne as the others were setting up a perimeter. she knew what those lousy Marquis were doing and it was utterly rotten.
"Sir!" she shouted "They were trying to pick us off, sir, using this child" the child wailed and cried in her arms, and struggled "They wanted to bring our numbers down before attacking the cowards!" tears of anger and sadness both threatened but she choked them back as she watched her team fly into action as she held the screaming child. "I was lucky, sir..they almost got their chance..thank the Divine for luck.." she said
"Cadet Tintagel can you come with me to look at this child, see if he needs medical attention, please? We need to get him calm too and set up in case there are injuries" She rocked the child in her arms, trying to calm him.

YrDis had been working for hours with the rest of the away team and the Borg, trying to assess what needed to be done most, then doing it. Primarily, it was the hunt for any survivors still trapped in the debris and aiding anyone they found. There were still Borg alive, trapped in the rubble and the resiliency of life constantly amazed him. They had pulled one from a tiny hole of a collapsed building, and he wondered how anyone could possilby have survived being trapped there. He was just turning the small group of Borg with him to the next damaged structure when he saw cadet Zoë running towards them with a small child in her arms and a mixed group of what appeared to be 15 or 20 Maquis chasing her.
YrDis pulled out his phaser and started firing to give her some cover, and the group of Maquis took shelter among the ruins and fired back. YrDis crouched down as the energy blasts shook his pile of rubble and looked around. He had been working with a group of 6 borg and was separated from the rest of the away team. He tapped his badge and said "Cadet Dontai, we are under attack from about 15 or 20 Maquis. They're taking cover at the eastern edge of town. Take whatever elements of security you have and sweep them left to see if you can hit their flank. Anyone else who can hear me, fire at the Maquis and keep them occupied until Dontai completes his manuever."
< Dontai>
Phaser fire continued to hit his pile of debris as he used his communicator again. "Hanson, this is Blayne. We're under attack by Maquis ground forces. Send assistance."
<Hope>
The Borg he was with were sort of milling around. They were armed, but seemed to be waiting for some direction. "Borg, spread out to the edges of the pile of rubble that we're on, then return fire. I want us to attack the Maquis> Provide cover while we move to that building over there" he said, gesturing at a slightly damaged structure that might provide more protection. The Borg noddes and moved to their positions, then started returning fire.
YrDis peeked cautiously over the top of the debris and could see that the Maquis were taking fire from several directions, but were fighting hard. Taking a deep breath, YrDis jumped over the top of the debris, slid down the other side and hit the ground running. Several shots came in his direction, but he managed to arrive at the building.
Examining the interior, he saw a set of stairs to the second floor and used them quickly. This level had suffered some structural damage, but was still usable. He crept to a window and looked out. He could see a few Maquis and started firing his phaser, actually hitting one before they took cover. He could hear a rush of feet downstairs which followed him up to the second floor. He looked over to see one of the Borg had followed him. "Secure the bottom floor, and wait for everone else to get here. Our next objective is that pile of rubble closer to them!" The Borg nodded and went back down the stairs, while YrDis turned and continued to fire at the Maquis.

Illito was torn as to what to do. Should she stay out of the fighting and try to heal people? But if the Maquis won, she wouldn't be doing any healing. After the away team won, there would be plenty of time for healing people. But what if the away team won, but she got wounded? She put her question momentarily put aside as Zoë came up with a crying baby.
"Cadet Tintagel can you come with me to look at this child, see if he needs medical attention, please? We need to get him calm too and set up in case there are injuries," said Zoë, rocking the child in her arms.
"Let me see him," Illito asked, taking the child. She looked him over briefly, then handed him back to Zoë, and went over him with a scanner. "He's fine. No signs of any injury." Illito looked at the baby boy again, who was still crying.
"Shhhh..." Illito said, her voice a mixture of calm authority and kindness. The baby looked at her, surprised, and quit crying. "Do you want to take him? Or should I?" Illito asked Zoë.
Zoë shrugged, but Illito saw her reluctance to return to the battle.
"I think that you should stay with the baby. I noticed that you were good at calming people before the battle, and that's what they really need now." Illito paused, and thought about what she herself was going to do. As a Cardassian facing the Maquis, she would probably be more likely to draw fire than to return it. "I think... I think that I will stay too. It seems to me like our people can take care of the Maquis, they expected to be able to launch a sneak attack and kill a lot of our people before they were discovered." Illito paused, and nodded at Zoë. "Good job back there." Illito smiled.
"Thanks, I guess," said Zoë. "But all I really did was run off shouting."
"Sometimes the admirable thing is to run off. Do you really think you could have taken the Maquis alone? Or that we would have defeated the Maquis if they had surprised us?" Illito glanced around, hoping that she was doing the right thing staying with the wounded. Well, she would heal the Borg with only minor injuries first, that way they might be able to join the fighting. Though it seemed to her to be a little against the point of the whole thing, to heal people then send them to die.

Farquhar's trip had thus far been uneventful; it wasn’t until he got the Hanson on long range sensors and saw the tail end of a small fight that his mood picked up.
He had squeezed every inch of power he could muster to get there and it had been worth it.
As he approached he took time to marvel at the looks of the intrepid class ship. It looked every inch a fighter and he couldn’t wait to get aboard.
=^= Cadet Farquhar to the Hanson permission to land. =^=
=^= Granted cadet, welcome aboard. =^=
Farquhar left the shuttle and headed for security where his instructor was currently waiting for him. His nerves picked up a bit as he walked through the ship, he wondered what his instructor was going to be like and what his duties would be.
Farquhar realised he had made it to security and composed himself before he entered. The doors swished open to reveal a busy room. Commander Wesson was stood talking to a security officer as he approached. Wesson saw him coming and gestured to the officer to wait.
"Cadet Charles Farquhar reporting for duty sir!"
"So you finally got here then cadet, welcome aboard."
"Thank you sir, I apologise for my lateness, I wasn’t informed of my post until it was too late to meet you"
"Very well, I have listed you cabin details and duties on this padd, review them asap and get ready to train hard, your fellow cadet is currently on the planet surface I assume you will make an effort to catch up with him and get briefed on my expectations of cadets."
"Yes sir of course, thank you sir"
"Carry on cadet"
Farquhar turned to leave, he decided he was going to get himself settled in then find out when he was on watch.
=^= Bridge to security commander Blayne is under attack and needs assistance. =^=
Farquhar crossed his fingers and hoped to be able to go down, he looked at commander Wesson hopefully and hoped for the order to move out.
Out.

Zoë ran past Commander Blayne as he covered her with fire, he merely gave her a nod as she ran past him. Cadet Tintagel looked at the child and pronounced him fine, then handed him back to her. The boy clung to her and she held him close. She wondered if they would be able to find his parents. He seemed to be about 5 years old. What a terrible thing to do to a child..she thought to herself.
She nodded as Tintagel gave her encouragement and smiled a bit.
"You're probably right I suppose. Someone has to protect the wounded who can't fight..."
Tintagel smiled back and went to tend to the wounded. Zoë did the best she could in camp calming people down and doing what she could while holding the child. She could hear the phaser fire off in the distance. She sent off a quick prayer that this wouldn't last too long.
There were many they had uncovered from the wreakage that had been badly injured. She worked as much as she could, but her shoulder was beginning to really hurt , in all the commotion she hadn't got it checked. She found Cadet Tintagel tending to a wounded Borg.
"Umm, Cadet Tintagel..I know your busy..when you get a chance can you look at my shoulder? I got hit by one of those phaser blasts back there..if your not too busy that is.." she finished as she showed her the wound with the child on the opposite hip.

S'reena nearly jumped when Blayne's message came through. "Wesson, take a security detail with you down planet to assist Dontai," she ordered, and noticed the arrival of the new security cadet. "I'm sorry Mr Farquhar, I need you to man the tactical station in Wesson's absence." She noticed the young man looked very disappointed. "Do not worry," she assured him, "with the Maquis around, you will see more action than you have bargained for, believe me."
Suddenly, she found the command chair very uncomfortable; she had never really wanted a command and had been very glad when Captain Marcell was assigned this task when Admiral Drew left the academy, and the Hanson. She had been in line, but she had turned it down. "Mr Fethers, please go check on Captain Marcell and see if he's sober enough to return to duty," she ordered.
Crewman Fethers nodded, and raced off the bridge, down to deck 15 where the brig was located. He nearly tripped over the unconscious body of the guard, and paled as he stood before the empty cell. "Fethers to Hope, um commander I believe we have a small problem.."
"What's that Crewman?" He heard S'reena call over the comm system.
"Well ma'am..." Fethers swallowed as he inspected the brig area, "it appears Captain Marcell has disappeared ma'am."
"Return to the bridge immediately. I will order a sensor sweep op the ship."
Fethers nodded to himself, and briskly walked back to he bridge, wondering just why he was called back. He returned just in time to hear Commander Hope order Hawkins and Shakespeare to scan the ship for a human/Klingon biosignature.
"I hope you know what you're doing captain," S'reena whispered as she sadly shook her head, "this is not just your captaincy on the line, but your Honour as a Klingon as well."
"What was that ma'am?" Fethers asked, as he joined Farquhar at the tactical station.
"Nothing," S;reena replied, and tapped her combadge. "Hanson to away team. Apollogies for the delay in response, assistance is under way but we're dealing with our own problem here. Captain Marcell has disappeared, but we're looking for him."

Crave observed the cadet that’d approached him. “You’re late, but better late than never,” Crave noticed, adressing the cadet. Just as Crave handed a padd containing instructions to Farquhar, S'reena called. "Wesson, take a security detail with you down planet to assist Dontai," she ordered, and noticed the arrival of the new security cadet. "I'm sorry Mr Farquhar, I need you to man the tactical station in Wesson's absence." "Understood ma'am, Crave said, nodding at the cadet.
Just as he wanted to walk off a red light on the security control panel caught his attention.
“Ma’am, I think our cap just went for a little trip, the Maquis ship beamed him out off the brig, appearantly Marcell managed to send a message just before they took him,” Crave called to S’reena. But before he could say more red lights started blinking. *Intruder alert, intruder alert,* the computer notified. “Well Charles, I guess we're up right away, let's buckle up!" Crave said, sounding exited, receiving a glare from S'reena.
=/\= Security detail, meet me at C junction, deck 8, Wesson out. =/\=
Crave turned to S'reena. "I'll take a security detail down to the planet right after I dropped off mister Farquhar here at deck eight." S'reena nodded. "Make it quick commander."
"You comin'?" Crave asked Farquhar, as he got into the turbolift. They passed by the armory, and, without showing his reluctance, Crave picked up two phaser rifles and handed on to Charles. "Okay, this might be going to get rough, Maquis ain't easy, anyways here's the drill. You lead the security detail, and kick the Maquis off the Hanson, got it?" Crave said. "I think so," Farquhar answered. "Not good enough, I want you to know so, I won't be here to assist, so you get to do the job, got it? Let's go cadet!"
Without time for discussion Crave exited the armory and had the turbolift take them down to deck 8, where they met the security detail. "There are six of them in total, but they split up sir," one of the security officers notified. "Good, Farquhar here has command over this situation, you take orders from him, and no objections!" Crave eyed the securitymen, "I need to take a party down to the planet so I won't be around, I have faith that mister Farquhar is more than capable enough." With those words Crave left the group of men.
<Tag Farquhar>
=/\= Security team beta, meat me at the shuttlebay, be sure to equip yourselved, Wesson out. =/\=
The turbolift took Crave to the shuttlebay where he was met by another security detail. Crave powered up the shuttle, and steered it out of the Hanson's shuttlebay. Immediately the shuttle rocked, and red light lit up on the control panel implying on impact. "Crap, this wasn't supposed to be happening," Crave called as he pulled the shuttle hard to the right. Another energy beam hit the shuttle's shields. "Damn, there goes one engine!" Crave yelled, trying to keep the shuttle under control.
The ship swayed left and right, and Crave could barely control it, but then, finally, it entered the planet's atmosphere. "Yeehaw," Crave said as the ship burst red-hot through the air. "Okay, landing sequence initiated," Crave notified when the shuttle had reached through the clouds. "There we go." The shuttle touched down gentily near the forsaken city. "Move out men!" Crave called as the shutlle's door opened. He followed his security officers out, and they immediately went for cover, as a small group of four Maquis opened fire. "Johnson, McCallen, you go right! Fieryheart, Gordous, you take left, Kline, you're with me! Go!"
Crave moved next to the shuttle, and provided Johnson and McCallen with covering fire, Kline doing so for the others. Once the security officers'd reached safety again, the four Maquis were easily taking care off, and soon lay stunned on the ground. "Excellent job men," Crave said, "Now let's go and assist Dontai."

Illito glanced at Zoë's shoulder. She should have noticed that earlier. "Sure, I have time to heal your shoulder. I'm sorry for not noticing it." Illito picked up the medical scanner. It was a fairly minor burn, but that didn't mean that it should have been left untended. Illito looked through her med kit, wondering what she had that could work. "There it is," she muttered to herself, taking out a dermal regenerator. It should do the trick.
After Zoë was healed, Illito glanced around, wondering how the battle was going.
How could a captain just disappear? Illito wondered. It seemed like it would be fairly hard to kidnap a Starfleet captain. And if he wasn't taken against his will, then he must have chosen to leave. In which case he wouldn't have disappeared, he would have deserted. Illito continued to work while she thought. She noticed the away team approaching, from an angle that the away team could see them, but the Maquis couldn't.
She watched them approach and start to fight with Dontai's group. She wished that she could join them. It didn't feel quite right to simply stay out of the conflict. But she wasn't staying out of the conflict, Illito thought to herself. She was helping to heal people. Whatever, she thought, she still felt like there was something else she should be doing. Illito looked down at the Borg she was healing, and willed herself to concentrate on him. After all, these were people she was helping. People who needed her. Illito sighed and moved on the next person, still glancing up at the battle every once and a while. She was slightly relieved to find that the battle seemed to be going well. It seemed that she was doing better here than she could have if she had fought.

Hawking looked rather worried. The captains bio signal didn’t appear on the scans, but the Maquis intruders apparently did. He had Shakespeare monitoring the internal sensors, relaying the movements of the Maquis to the security detail, trying to take them out.
“Two of the intruders are proceeding to section 5, deck 8,”Shakespeare reported, “Two are heading towards maintenance tube 12, junction 2.”
“And the remaining ones?” Hawing asked. He was still trying to recalibrate the shield frequencies. It was clear that Marcell had given the bad guys the shield frequencies. This could be fatal if they launched an attack. They would be virtually defenceless.
“The other two are…” Shakespeare started, but was left helpless when sensor went offline.
“What the hell is that?” Hawking let out. He quickly ran a series of tests.
He looked at S’reena. “They used captain Marcells command codes to block us out.”
“Can you hack them and get into the system again?” Commander Hope asked.
“I think so,” Hawking replied, “But it might take some time. I’m blocking all his command codes, before more damage is done.”
“Do it as soon as possible,” the FO said.
Hawking nodded. “Yes ma’am.”
He turned to Shakespeare. “You heard the commander. Let’s get at it.”
