The walk up to the climbing part of the mountains didn't take long, as it was the easy part. She climbed in the holodeck, so how hard could it be to do it for real. She ties her gear to her, and looks for the first foot holds. Getting started was also easy, but after about six footholds, she finds there aren't any more, and she starts to grab the rocks instead. She makes sure she has a good hold on the rock before she lets go of the last foothold, and she finds it just as sturdy, but she knows there are loose ones.
She climbs for a good hour before she reaches the first ledge, and then she takes a small break knowing that time is of the essence, because it won't be long before the away team finds she is missing. She starts again noticing there is two more ledges before the final climb to the top, and feeling a little gung-ho she starts again.
When she reaches the second ledge, she doesn't stop this time, but instead looks to see the next reachable rock. It is a loose one and she falls back down to the ledge. It looks like they are all loose, and she must stop and contemplate what to do next.
Seeing the ledge wraps around the mountain, she walks around to find a more secure rock, and does at the other side, but there is no ledge on this side of the mountain, and she realizes she must continue all the way to the top now. Working the mountain, she feels a little tired, but continues all the same.
She reaches the top in another two hours, which she thought was when she would get there. The view is beautiful from there, and she can see all around, and then she sees phaser fire from one of the villages. She realizes that is where the away team is, but she wonders what happened. Turning her mind away from them, she sets up to take another sample, and finds something strange. The uridium ore that is suppose to be present is actually gone, and she wonders if somebody took it. She packs up and takes a few steps to the right only to find the rocks aren't good there, and they collapse sending her down quite a ways. The last thing she remembers is hitting something very hard.
She wakes up finding herself in an abandoned cave of some sort, and looks around to see if she lost her gear, but luckily she still has it. She picks it up and starts down the one path of the cave to see what she can find.
After an hour of searching the cave paths, she comes acrossed a large motor powered pick, and she goes closer to investigate. She turns it on, but it doesn't do anything, and then she sees it is programmed for uridium only, and she turns it off. Whoever was here only wanted the uridium, but why? Then it suddenly dawns on her, and she leaves the machine to exit the caves and contact Hanson.
Once outside, she looks around to make sure she is alone.
=^= Anderson to the Hanson.=^= "Hanson here. What's going on cadet? We read phaser fire in one of the villages." She hears, and it sounds like Commander Hope. "I'm not sure about the phaser fire, but I know a little about what's going on. Could you please beam me from my current location to the desserted villages on the south?" She says a little nervous because of what they might say. "Alright, we will beam you there, and next time stay with the away team. It is dangerous to wander around by yourself." She hears and smiles breathing relief. All of a sudden a beam encloses her, and when it leaves she finds she is in a desserted village. She ducks behind one of the houses before she is seen by the Maquis, and then she notices the captain is with them! She has an idea, and putting her combadge on her gear she puts the gear on the ground. She walks around the building to the nearest Maquis, who draws his weapon.
"Who are you, and what do you want?" He practically shouts, and then the captain sees her. "I am Joan Anderson a former cadet of the Hanson, and I want to join you and yours. I have information that might help you win this planet over, like how many are on the away team, and how to overcome them." She says looking around to see if she convinced anyone. "We shall see Joan Anderson exactly who you are and what you really want, but as for now we will accept you and your information." The leader says, and Joan smiles.

YrDis' eyes fluttered open and he tried to figure out where he was. He was lying on a hard surface and all that he could see was a grey haze. His ears were ringing loudly.
He shook his head and slowly got to his feet in confusion, trying to remember what had been going on. The last thing he recalled was providing cover fire from a window as the group of Borg he was with attempted to move to the cover of a large pile of debris. Six of them had made it, and he had left his window to follow them. He had been about to leave the building, and that was where his memory ended.
The grey haze was actually a heavy fog of dust in the air. He made his way to a bright area and found he was standing by a door. There was an extremely large crater in front of him that hadn't been there before. He stood in the doorway, trying to get his bearings and figure out what was happening. The ringing in his ears continued, but he could see that the battle was still going on. His group of Borg were on the pile of debris that he had sent them to, but one was lying in a crumpled heap at the bottom.
Dazed, he stumbled slowly through the debris on the ground, trying to catch up to his group. Phaser fire struck around him as the Maquis saw him wandering slowly through the battle area. The Borg and Federation away team noticed him as well, and they started firing quickly at the Maquis, forcing them to take shelter.
Two Borg ran from the pile of debris, grabbed YrDis by the arms, literally carried him back and tossed him on the pile.

S'reena wrung her hands in worry as she idly paced around the bridge. It was driving the other instructors crazy, but she was oblivious to their annoyed stares. "I should never have thrown him in the brig," she muttered, "this is all my fault...." A sharp slap in her face brought her back to her senses and she stared in the face of the second security cadet. Rage flickered in her eyes, but the slap was all she had needed. "Thank you cadet," she said, and patted him on the shoulder, "please return to your station."
She had just said that when the ship suddenly rocked violently, throwing her hard back into her seat. "Return fire!" she cried, "disable those vessels."
"Shields down to 10%," Hawkins reported at ops, "next hit will destroy shields."
S'reena cursed under her breath as she gazed angrily at the main screen. They were vastly outnumbered, and they were only a science vessel, though armed to the teeth. "I refuse to destroy them if I can help it," she said, hitting the armrest of her chair hard in frustration.
Alarms started blaring and S'reena looked up. "We are being boarde!" she realised, then shot a look at the security cadet. "Tell your teams to get read to defend themselves....assign special teams to protect families. Now, cadet...Fethers will take the security station from you."
She pointed at Gordon and Paris. "Get us out of orbit, evasive maneuveres, pattern Beta! Hawkins, any sign of the captain yet!?"

“You’ll be okay,” Illito said, in as comforting a tone as possible to the Borg she had just tried to help. She was running out of supplies, and she felt that she should be in the battle. She didn’t care what she was supposed to be doing, and she didn’t really know either! She could make a difference in the fight. That was where she was needed.
“What are you doing?” asked Zoë, noticing that Illito was getting up.
“I have to go help them. And before you give me any psychological talk about how I should learn to deal with my duty, my duty is out there. And maybe...” Illito continued, trying to convince herself, as well as Zoë, that she should be out there. “Maybe I’m afraid of killing people. And counselors always say that we should face our fears. So I am going to face my fears. I think you can continue leading this effort.” Illito pointed around at the ground that was full of the wounded. Illito nodded and left, before Zoë would try to stop her.
Illito ran around the wreck of a town, trying to sneak up on the Maquis. She almost had it, when she recognized one of them. It was Anderson. A barely noticeable gasp escaped her. Well, she had thought it was barely noticeable. The Maquis had noticed it.
She pulled out her phaser, and set it to stun. She had been sort of truthful when she had talked to Zoe. She was afraid of killing people. What if all this was just a big misunderstanding? Yeah right, she thought to herself, a misunderstanding. Well, if it was one, it was too late to start understanding. Illito glanced at the Maquis, and aimed the phaser. Then she hesitated.
She brought the phaser down, then brought it up quickly again, firing two shots in the distance, hitting a wall near the Federation away team. That should send a message that the Starfleet officers couldn’t ignore. The phaser fire was clearly from one of their own weapons, and it was coming from the Maquis, towards the Starfleet group itself. They would realize that that meant that one of their own officers was firing on them. Either that, or the Maquis had gotten hold of one of the Federation phasers, and didn’t know how to aim. She hoped that her message was clear, she had tried as hard as she could.

She gave all the information she had to the maquis, and even though she wanted to wear one of their uniforms, she donned her own for the plan. They head toward town immediately.
When they start to take the town, Illito comes out of nowhere and recognizes her, and then she fires shots toward the rest of the group. Joan aims and fires on her only Joan's phaser is set to stun , because she was told to take prisoners of any Federation Officers. She knew what they were expecting, and she knew what she must do.
"Yurdick, take my weapon and head straight into town with it like we planned. They think you have taken me by surprise or something, and then the captain and I pounce without them realizing. Jarden you must beat me up now, and they must think I escaped your camp and returned to help them. They won't realize what is really going on until it is too late." She says smiling. Everything is going to plan, and it won't be long before she has everything she needs. She quickly circles camp, and enters on the south side.
"It is the maquis attacking, and they got Illito. I'm sorry, but I couldn't help her, because the maquis took me hostage and stole my weapon and equipment. They beat me for information, but I wouldn't give them any. We have to hurry, or they will take this village." She says hoping she is convincing enough. Many of the security team nod only and Dontai orders them to surround the remaining people and get ready to defend what they have. Realizing she will only have one shot at this, she slips by Zoe and takes her phaser without her knowing. She slips down beside one of the unconcious borg, and starts to fire at the security team. They all start to scramble, and the maquis come at them full force. We have them rounded up quickly.
One of them tries to get a message to the ship, but he is stunned quickly. She looks around to see the damage done to the away team, and sees many are shocked to see she is on the other side. She quickly removes all combadges. All of the security team has been hit, and is now out cold.
"Sir, I suggest we tie up all of the security team, and tie Dontai upside down." She says making most of the maquis laugh, but they all agree to do so, then while most of the maquis are doing so, she sees the leader, Tomarkis, the captain, and several others get together. She joins them hoping she won't get kicked out of the circle.
She isn't kicked out, but instead she is welcomed, which takes her by surprise.

Hearing the order to get out of the way of the Maquis's attacks, she jumps to action. She feels like she has the controls of a rollercoaster, as she dips, spins, turns, dives, and rotates the ship out of danger. All of a sudden she turns back to look at Commander Hope, and thinks she sees a little green in the commander's face.
Turning back to her console, she takes another exciting dip just barely avoiding the next torpedo. Getting caught up in the moment she lets out a whoop of joy kinda like a yahoo, enjoying the feeling of being free. Looking over at her instructor, she sees him raise his eyebrown with a small smile spreading across his face.
<<tag gordon>>
Again returning to her console she gasps as she narrowly evades a torpedo, and decides to keep her attention on her job. After a few moments she realizes she is really tense and starts to relax at the helm again.

"Get us out of orbit, evasive maneuveres, pattern Beta! came the ringing order from Commander Hope as the ship rocked from the incoming fire.
Sitting there watching my cadet direct the ship through a series of twisting turns and movements I was itching to take the helm myself but I could see that Paris had firm control over the ship.
"Commander, I recommend we withdraw to a safe distance until we can get the shields repaired and reset to a new frequency pattern." I called back over my shoulder as I pointed out incoming fire from the Maquis vessels to Paris so that she could plot her crazy course changes.
<S'reena>
Looking back at my Cadet and the sensor readouts I noted the Maquis vessels moving into an encirclement pattern to be able to bracket in their weapons fire on the Hanson.
"Paris, evasive Pattern Omega 3, move it Cadet!"

"Thanks, Cadet Tintagel..don't worry about it, it's fixed now" she said warmly as she looked at the work the Cadet had done, it was good there would be minimal scarring. She then went back to work, the child was pretty calm now and Zoë kept him next to her as she worked, he even sometimes held things for her as she worked.
The message then came from the Hanson that they were sending help, but the Captain was missing too! What is going on? Zoë wondered, it seemed like things just kept getting worse. Then she noticed Tintagel getting up to leave. Zoë was about to open her mouth to speak but the cadet was determined and so she watched her go..someone had to stay here with the others.
After a bit she saw Anderson return and she looked bad, as if she had been beaten. Zoë started to go over to help her but then Anderson attacked them! She couldn't believe it, she reached for her phaser but it was gone! The Marqui and Anderson took out the whole camp and tied them up taking their comm badges.
Zoë struggles but is tied with the others. Zoë turns to Anderson who is with what looks like the leaders of the group now who are standing in a circle.
"Why Anderson? Why do this?" she asks gently. If they couldn't trust their own people who could they trust? She looked over to see if she could see Commander Blayne and saw him tied near her. She moves closer to him and gives Andersona defiant look. They had to figure out a way to get out of here!
"Are you ok, sir?" she asks her teacher
<YrDis Blayne, Anderson and anyone else tied up or attacking!>

"See to it," S'reena told the navigation's duo, "and keep an eye on those Maquis. We have been boarded, and Cadet Farquhar is seeing to our safety." She turned around to face Hawking. "I am sure your cadet can fare on her own for a few hours, I need you to assist the security cadet now that Wesson is on the planet."
She got up and stepped up to Shakespeare. "Keep scanning the ship and the surface, the captain MUST be around somewhere. As soon as you get a lock, beam him directly to the brig." She paused a few seconds. "Computer, freeze command codes of Captain Anthony Marcell until further notice."
=^= Acknowledged =^= the computer replied =^= command codes frozen =^=
S'reena sighed, she'd hoped that this wouldn't have been necessary. "Hanson to away team, what is your status?"

Great, thought Illito. She had gotten herself captured. At least the Maquis hadn’t killed her. Score one for her, she thought, sarcastically.
That was one of the reasons she had gone for a medical career, rather than a security one. She wasn’t very good at security. Another reason was that she doubted Starfleet would have let her take a position where she was responsible for the safety of others. For some reason, they just didn’t trust her. Fortunately, they hadn’t thought that she could do much damage as a doctor. After all, what was she going to do, diagnose people wrong? She could just see it: ‘Those are some pretty bad burns you have there,’ she would say. ‘But my arm is broken,’ the patient would reply in confusion. ‘I wasn’t burnt at all.’
Illito realized that her thoughts were drifting, but she preferred not to dwell on the future. She did, however, have to deal with the present.
“What do you want?” she asked the Maquis, in as calm a voice as she could manage. Given the fact that she was tied up by people who wanted to kill her, her voice wasn’t very calm at all.
The Maquis ignored her, but she could guess the answer, or at least part of it. They wanted her dead. But she wasn’t dead yet, which meant that the Maquis had some sort of a plan. Either that, or they didn’t feel like killing people today, but it seemed sort of out of character for them.
“So,” said Illito, trying to engage the Maquis in some sort of conversation. “Seeing as no one is pointing a phaser at my head, I’m guessing that I’m not going to be killed anytime soon. Although you do have me tied up, so I don’t think you’re going to let me go free.” Illito glanced at the Maquis. Still no reaction from them. While, she could either be quiet, or continue her monologue. She chose to continue.
“You know,” she continued. Maybe if she annoyed them, she thought, they would say something, give her some idea what was going on. “I’ve grown rather attached to my life. You can call me selfish, but if you took my life, I don’t think you would use it. So you may as well keep me alive.”
“We have no intention of killing you,” replied a cold voice, from one of the Maquis.
“Ever?” asked Illito.
“Ever,” affirmed the man.
“But I’m a Cardassian,” Illito responded, growing more and more nervous as she realized that she had no idea what was going on.
“I’ve noticed,” he replied, his voice heavy with sarcasm.
“I wasn’t sure you would,” she countered. “Dead Cardassians look quite a bit different than live ones.”
Illito was rather surprised to hear a question from the Hanson, she knew that her commbadge was off. She looked around, and noticed that the Commander Hope’s voice had come from Anderson, who was still wearing her commbadge. Illito guessed that she had just forgotten to take it off after pretending to be a Starfleet officer. Still, she wondered how Anderson would reply.

//As I've been directed, I'm beging to write as though I've been aboard all along. Cadet fourth Class Gary Owens, Engineering Department, reporting for duty...//
Gary leaned his head out of the Jefferies tube where he had been repairing several burned out power couplings which should control the shields. He ducked back in as several armed humanoids rounded a corner. None wore a starfleet uniform. "This can't be good." He thought to himself. "Ten to one, they aren't part of the crew." He finished the repairs, but purposefully skipped reporting the fact to his instructor, not knowing what was going on there. He would have to trust the bridge crew to notice on their displays that shield power should be up by twenty percent.
Gary began climbing his way through the Jeffries tube network to Engineering to see if anyone was still there. At best, he would find out where his next repair location was, at worst, he would have to find who else was here, and mount some sort of plan. All he knew for sure, was the few he saw were onboard moving freely. It might be worse.

"We have been here two weeks trying to gain this planet for ourselves, in which we want to start a new Maquis uprising, and we think this is the best place to do so. It is the perfect location, and no one will suspect anything. Unfortunately we have had some problems with the locals, and have found it necessary to have a back up plan. We have inserted tons of uridium into the sun, just in case we fail, then we won't leave anything behind. It can still be reversed, but one more shipment and then it will be impossible." He says quickly.
Realizing the commander might try and contact the away team, she excuses herself when the circle breaks up and retrieves her gear and combadge, which she puts back on. Before returning, she thinks it is wise to contact the ship and let them know what is going on exactly, and she looks around to make sure no one is following her. Luckily she is alone.
=^=Anderson to Hanson=^= "Hanson here, what is going on down there, cadet?" Commander Hope says. "We have experienced a few difficulties. I have found out what is going on, but it has come at a high cost. I have joined the Maquis to spy on them, and have found they want to start a new uprising from this location. The locals are giving them trouble, and if they fail they will kill the sun with one more shipment of uridium, which will wipe out everything in this system. I have also found our missing captain, as he has joined the maquis. I don't know what his plans are, but I plan to return him to us when this is all over. I need you to help me some though. Please contact the away team in about twenty minutes, and ask for an update as if you have no idea what is going on. Anderson out." She says happy with the latest report.She returns to camp and puts her gear with all that was required.
"Hanson to away team, what is your status?" She hears, and many of the maquis look around. I hush them quickly knowing exactly what to do.
"Hanson this is away team, Anderson here. We have experienced some difficulties with the maquis, but don't worry we have them conquered so far. They aren't any trouble, and we are helping to heal the wounded maquis. I am only reporting because the instructors thought it would do good for a cadet to report in. We do need the practise, and I drew the wrong straw-- I mean I was the lucky one." She says hearing a chuckle from the other end. "Alright, keep me advised, and better luck on the straw drawing next time cadet. Hanson out." She hears relieved when the report was over.
"Good work, Joan, exactly what we needed to keep everything quiet, and I think you are Maquis matterial after all. You are now one of us, and welcome." The leader says smiling, and Joan sees Illito glaring at her.

“Yes ma’am,” Hawking acknowledged Hope’s order. Things were rather going the wrong way. It appeared the team on the planet had been compromised. The betrayal of what apparently had become the former Captain of the Hanson didn’t do any good as well. Shields on the verge of breaking down. And if that wasn’t enough the Maquis had send in additional boarding parties while the chief security officer was on the planet surface. Internal sensors were still down due to the sabotage of the first boarding party. They would have to go through the ship, scanning for the intruders with their tricorders.
Hawking hurried himself through the corridors, getting himself to the nearest weapon locker. He hadn’t had the chance to leave the bridge earlier and was still unarmed, which seemed like a rather unwise thing at this very moment. For a moment his thoughts went to his wife and two children, still back on the Conqueror. She wouldn’t be very appreciative if he got himself killed.
=^=Hawking to Cadet Farquhar, your position? =^= As soon as the connection established Hawking could make out some muffled screens and the high-pitched shouts of phaser fire. It took the cadet several seconds before he was able to reply. =^=Farquhar here sir. We’ve engaged a group of Maquis on deck 7 section 3. We might need some help=^= Hawking rushed to the turbolift. Thankfully it was still operational. =^=On my way cadet. Hold your position. =^=
By the time the COO reached the location of the shoot out several Maquis members lay on the corridor floor. Effectively stunned by the security team. The security team itself seemed to be less lucky. The Maquis apparently didn’t bother to use the stun setting. One of the crewmembers lay sacked against the wall. Some severe phaser burns covering his torso.
“Have him transported to sickbay,” Hawking ordered the nearest crewmember he encountered. He crouched next to Farquhar. “What’s the situation here cadet?” “I think we took the biggest part of this party out sir.” The cadet glared around the corner. He pointed at a deckplan on one of the wall mounted consoles. “I think they are retreating to this here.” Hawking studied the map. “We’ve had several reports of various encounters from other departments. Mostly near the engineering section, but also in various other locations. It seems like they keep on beaming support teams in.” “What is you plan sir?” the cadet asked. “For the time being we go into the defence. We must stop them from reaching key positions,” Hawking explained. “Have a couple of your men clear this section. We’ll head to engineering.”
<tag Farqahar>
While Farquhar organized the security forces Hawking contacted Commander Hope and cadet Shakespeare. =^=Ma’am, it’s vital we get shields back online on an alternative frequency since the default one is known to the Maquis. If we don’t they’ll keep beaming in reinforcements. Ms. Shakespear can coordinate with engineering.=^=

Kreghor wore a wicked smile on his face as he licked his lips, his eyes reviewing the five others that would come along with him onto the Federation ship. "Ser, waddayer want as ter do wan we ge' there, spli' up?" a tall man that nervously looked around asked. "Thorak, relax, it'll be a simple in and out, but without the out," Kreghor smiled. "Just tell us your plan!" came the impatient voice of a young woman.
Kreghor narrowed his eyes, and stared at her. Take a deep breath, she's the general's girl Kreghor thought, but then again, accidents happen. A smile appeared on his face, and his eyes twinkled nastily. "Tania, my dear, the plan is simple, we take the so called 'Hanson'." Tania eyes him, unimpressed by his intimidating attitude. "Once we're aboard," Kreghor continued, "we all go our own way, we can all cope with those lame Starfleeters. We simply collect a few of their senior staffers, and the ship'll be ours, waterproof."
"Fool," Tania said. Just in time Kreghor stopped his hand from grasping the dagger from his belt. "You call that a plan?" Tania sneered, taking a step forward, "I can't believe my father's trust in you." "But the trust is there," Kreghor overruled, "now, onboard the Starfleet ship we all go our own way, understood?" The men nodded, without Tania.
Kreghor looked at the Maquis behind the transporter console and nodded, only to be taken away by the transporter beam. The Maquis rematerialized in a gray hallway. Kreghor pointed in a few directions and gave his comrades orders. "Tania, you're with me," he said. "No objection!" he glared at her as she wanted to open her mouth. They ran around a corner, and Kreghor jabbed his dagger into a surprised lieutenant's stomach they ran into. "Sorry pal," Kreghor smiled. "You're sick," Tania said. "Shut up! Shut, up!" Kreghor said turning around pointing the dagger at Tania's face.
~~~~~
Thorak sneaked through the hallway. Silence and deadliness were his specialties. He pressed his back against the wall, and moved his lean fingers like snakes. The turbolift was his goal, but someone had just exited it. In a flash his hands were around the neck of his unsuspecting prey, squeezing the life out of the woman. She gasped for breath, but Thorak held on, and calmly hushed her. It didn't take long before the ensign sank to the floor, unconscious. Thorak smiled at the sight. He didn't kill unless absolutely necessary. He entered the turbolift. "Bridge," he called. *Voice not recognized, intruder alert,* the computer's voice came. Hmm, how unfortunate, Thorak thought.
He turned around and sneaked down the hallway, where he'd spotted a deck plan. He swiftly cast around, but couldn't detect any security officers. Thorak shook his head. Morons, he thought. The deck map gave him the information he needed, the location of the jeffries tubes. Thorak smiled, and went to look for his objective.
~~~~~
The three other Maquis agents that had boarded the Hanson had all gone the same way, and'd run straight into the arms of a security detail. Energy beams hit everywhere, and there was little cover. One of the Maquis agents managed to stay in cover behind the limp body of his stunned comrade. It was a fierce battle, and remained undecided when the ship trembled. "This is not right," one of the agents called to his mate that had found cover around a corner, "why are the commencing the attack, they should know we're aboard!" "Beats me, but let's just do our job!" the other returned.
~~~~~
The attack on the Federation ship hadn't passed Kreghor's attention. Just as he withdrew his knife from Tania's face he stumbled forward into her, and they both toppled over, Kreghor landing on top of Tania. "Get off me!" she yelled, glaring at Kreghor who gave her an indifferent look. He stood up, and straightened his garments. "Let's go," Kreghor said coldly.
They turned a corner and walked up to a door. It was marked 'Science Lab'. "Ah, that must mean there are 'interesting' people around," Kreghor smiled. Tania sighed, but Kreghor decided not to pay attention to it this time. The door opened, and an older looking man, that appeared to be just about to leave the station gave them a surprised, and then a terrified look.
"Good day-" "-lieutenant," Kreghor continued after examining Franklin's pips. "W-what do you want?" "Well old man that's very simple," Tania said walking up to a trembling Paul. "We just require your assistance," she said, streaking her hand across his cheek, "will you help us, please, for me?" "B-but, you're Maquis," Franklin said. "Enough fooling around!" Kreghor bursted, pointing his dagger at Paul's throat, "you're coming with us, and you're going to help us in taking over this ship, is that clear?" "W-well." "Not good enough," Kreghor answered as his dagger cut a wound across Paul's chest, who fell to the ground.
"Get up," Kreghor said with a threatening voice. Franklin slowly rose to his feet. "Now, Tania here will assist you, you are going to tell her how to get this ship's command codes from the computer. Oh, and you'd better cooperate, because I'll be right behind you..."
(OOC: My apologies for not posting in a few days. I was busy then got behind in keeping up with the mission)
Jason sat up slowly, brushing the rubble off as he did. He felt warmth running down his forehead, and reached up, he felt blood. Borg lay around him.
He had decided to go into one of the buildings that had been indicated as a place where the wounded had been gathered. He had been examining them, and had notice that each of them had the same problem: command pathway interruption from their cortical nodes to the rest of their bodies, causing problems with their vital functions. He was trying to figure out what had caused it, but without the facilities available on the Hanson, he would be unable to further determine what was wrong.
He was about to call the Hanson when a phaser blast hit the ruined building he was in. The wall shattered, and one piece of it hit him on the head, knocking him out.
He wasn't sure how much time had passed, but he went over to the newly-made hole in the wall. Crouching, he saw the majority of the away team on the ground, and evidently bound, as they weren't moving. Surprisingly, Cadet Anderson was standing over them, besides the Maquis.
Jason quickly moved away from the hole, and sat against the wall, then tapped his comm-badge. =/\= Black to Hanson, come in. The rest of the away team has been captured by the Maquis, and Cadet Anderson appears to have defected to Maquis. Please advise."
Illito intensely regretted her decision to try to fit into the Starfleet atmosphere. She had succeeded, she was now being treated just like everyone else. After all, they were all tied up. Everyone, she noticed, except for Dr. Black. Was he dead? she wondered. It was possible, even probable. She felt sort of sad, he had seemed so...so...considerate. For a couple of seconds she entertained the notion that he was still alive, but it even if he was alive, she didn’t put much hope in him saving everyone. A thought suddenly occurred to her; what if he, too, had joined the Maquis?
She didn’t think it was the type of thing he would do, but she hadn’t thought Anderson would have abandoned Starfleet. Illito supposed that she just didn’t understand humans. Then again, she hadn’t had the slightest clue why her brother had done some of the things he had did, so maybe she just wasn’t very good at seeing things from someone else's point of view.
Illito glared at Anderson, glad that she didn’t see things as Anderson did. After all, Anderson’s viewpoint had been what caused her to join the Maquis, and Illito couldn’t imagine joining the Maquis anytime soon. She doubted they would let her, even if she wanted to.
What Illito did want, however, were some answers. Why were the Maquis here? Was the Hanson in trouble? Where was Dr. Black? And, most important, (for her, at least) why wasn’t she dead yet? She had thought that Maquis policy on Cardassians was shoot, then ask. However, she hadn’t thought that Maquis policy included killing Borg. Evidently she had been wrong about several things. Including Anderson. Illito had thought that she could have been friends with Anderson. Oh well, it wasn’t like it was the first time something like this had happened before. Not that anyone else Illito knew had ever joined the Maquis, but Illito had never been able to make long and binding friendships.
Illito glanced around, trying to see how everyone else was taking captivity. Most of them were doing better than her, but that really didn’t seem to mean very much. Illito noticed that Zoë seemed to be doing exceptionally well, asking her question calmly and cautiously. Of course, Zoë had gotten less of a response than Illito had. Still Zoë seemed to be enough in control of herself that she had taken the time to check on her teacher. Illito looked cautiously around, trying to make it seem more like she was trying to assess damage than look for her lost teacher. She thought she succeeded.
Hearing the order for a procedure, she jets into action. Smiling she spins the ship like a top, and then takes it into a nose dive, as if they have lost control of the ship.
All of a sudden out of nowhere an electrical storm brews. She dips and dives moving left and right to try and not to be hit by a powerful jolt. Unfortunately she is unable to do so, and the ship loses power, but to their advantage the maquis ship does not follow them. The bad twist to this stituation is that they won't be able to help the away time if they need their help.
Looking over at her instructor Angel lets out a long sigh. "I'm sorry, I tried to avoid that electrical storm, but I guess I need a little more time to get used to steering the ship." Angel said, feeling like she had failed somehow by not avoiding the storm.
In the middle of the Maquis bridge a man appeared from the transporter beam- he was about six foot, of average build, unshaven, black-haired, and slightly groggy looking.
Ado looked him up and down, his wrinkled uniform didn't do much for his appearance. The man stepped closer to the Maquis leader and extended his hand.
"Antony Marcell, captain of the USS Hanson... well- former captain." He grinned wolfishly.
"Ado Tahl- I'm leading this Maquis band. What do you want, Mr. Marcell?" He said cautiously.
"I want to join the Maquis. I've made a real mess of my life. It's the best choice for me right now." Marcell said.
This simple comment enraged Ado, "The Maquis isn't just a bunch of Starfleet burn-outs, captain!" He said the last word sarcasticlly, "We're people doing the right thing!"
"My mistake, commander Tahl. I meant no offence. But I want to join the Maquis and I'm willing to justify that statement with actions..." The man said slowly.
"What do you mean by actions?" Ado replied matching his speaking pattern.
"I'm the Captain of the Hanson. I don't just run around giving orders you know."
Ado grinned, knowing what Marcell meant, "Are you offering command codes, captain?"
"I could be." Tony said, continuing to play the little game.
"You are hereby accepted, we'll see about getting you put on the roster later." Tony nodded not getting Ado's joke about the Maquis informality, "Do you have the sheild frequency, captain?"
"Yes."
"Please give it to Hart over there." He pointed at Elizabeth the first officer. Tony tapped it in on her console.
Ado turned from Tony to his crew.
"We're making another attack on the Hanson! Kreghor, I want you to lead a team onto the Hanson when their sheilds go down- take Thorak, Sherav, James, and Saval. Oh and Tania too." Tania had been gettting at him to see some battle action, and Ado thought he might as well send her along to prevent more nagging.
Kreghor didn't look at all happy but he nodded and he and his people made for the transporter room.
"While we're attacking the Hanson I'm sending down a team to finish off those ruddy borg. Don't treat the starfleets any different. If you see one, they're just as borg as the next one. Move!"
"Mister Tahl!" Tony interrupted as the rest of the people started off the bridge.
"I'd like to go too. I'll give the team headed to the Hanson the command codes if I can go down to the planet, I need to get some fresh air." He smiled again.
"Fine, give the command codes to Kreghor and join the team going to the surface."Ado said.
"Yessir."
The phrase "Are you ok, sir?" cut through the haze in YrDis' mind, startling him back to consciousness. The counsellor shook his head and tried to get up, but realized that his arms weren't doing what he wanted them to do. He opened his eyes and looked. His hands were tied behind him with some coarse rope. Then, YrDis looked up to see the figure of cadet Zoe kneeling beside him.
"I'm alright, cadet. What's going on?" he asked.
"I'm not sure sir" she replied. "We've been captured by the Maquis, and it seems that cadet Anderson has joined them, along with the captain."
"The captain has joined the Maquis?" YrDis said incredulously. That surprised him. He had just finished reviewing the captain's personality profile and service record, and found the concept of him joining the Maquis rather unlikely. However, he had been wrong before. However, whatever the state of the captain, it was up to him to see if he could get some kind of escape attempt organized.
YrDis looked around. There were several Borg, cadets Zoe and Tintagel and a few other members of the Hanson's crew in this group. He could also see 4 Maquis guarding them. He could also see that cadet Anderson was standing with them.
YrDis was trying to figure out what to do when a tiny sound caught his attention. Looking down, he could see fragile looking black filament slowly snaking it's way towards him. He remained very still as it crept forward and touched his right leg. Immediately, he felt an odd chill rush through his body and heard a strange, whispering song in his head.
Do you hear us? the voices muttered inside his head.
Yes YrDis replied.
We are the Borg of Theta Aries. We wish to escape. Will you help? the voices questioned.
Am I being assimilated? YrDis asked the voices.
No, we do not require your biological or technological uniqueness. We require our freedom. Will you help? the voices asked again.
Yes, I'll help. What is it that you want me to do? YrDis asked.
Arrange a diversion. We will do the rest.
Another black filament emerged from the rubble and silently cut YrDis' ropes. Calmly, he began to plan the counter attack.
YrDis lay back down. His head was spinning from the unexpected rush of voices from the Borg. It was strangely compelling and soothing, much like listening to a mother's lullaby. He fought to keep his mind focused on the task at hand. He had to create a diversion. That shouldn't be difficult. He picked up a rock and flung it back hand at the nearest Maquis, hitting him in the shoulder.
The rather large man reacted quickly, spinning in the direction the rock came from. However, all he could see was Cadet Zoe and an apparently unconscious Starfleet officer. The Maquis walked threateningly in their direction. "You like to throw rocks, little girl?" the man growled, pointing his phaser at her.
"I didn't throw it, he did" Cadet Zoe said, gesturing down at YrDis.
"Really", he sneered. "Well, his rock throwing days are over." The Maquis swung his phaser towards the reclining officer.
YrDis had had his eyes slightly open the entire time, and as the weapon came his way he took a deep breath, summoned his inner resources and surged up from the ground, catching the guard by surprise. He put his hands onto the guards legs and emitted an extremely large electrical pulse, as all Ornarans could do.
The Maquis screamed in pain as the current surged through his body, causing his muscles to pulse uncontrollably. YrDis kept it up as long as he could, then let the man go. He dropped silently to the ground.
There was a moment of shocked silence as the man's screams echoed through the area, then the rest of the Maquis started running towards YrDis, Zoe and the unconscious guard. Simultaneously, every Borg stood up, suddenly unbound and touched a small button on their arm prostheses. The Maquis stopped, pointed their weapons and pulled the triggers, but nothing happened. They turned to run, but they were too close to the Borg and were quickly overwhelmed.
Crave crouched next to the wall. "Now what sir?" Kline asked. Crave considered their options, and found a nearby collapsed house their next move. "Follow me!" he called, getting up and making a run for the battered establishment. Five meters were left to the building, but in the rush of adrenaline Crave didn't see the small crater that lay on his path, and unforeseen felt his foot dig into the ground, causing his to topple over, crashing to the ground. The phaser rifle was flung out of his hand, and he heard the voices of his fellow security men.
"Keep moving!" Crave yelled, getting up, swiftly looking around. An armed group of Maquis came running at him from the right. Oh brother, Crave thought. "We've got one here sir!" one of the Maquis said, approaching Crave. "Well well, why does Starfleet always have to meddle with our business. Crave glared at the man that stood over him, pointing his energy weapon at the floored Crave. "Sir, he's a commander," one of the Maquis notified. "Excellent," the man in charge said, "killing those will scare of the Federation." A smile appeared on his face.
"Well then, why don't you just pull the trigger?" Crave said as sarcastic as he could manage. The man eyed him. "What's your name, commander?" the leader returned the sarcasm. "My name? How interesting a question to hear from the Maquis," Crave said, shifting to a bit more comfortable position for as far as that was possible. The man gave him a questioning look. Crave continued: "I'd never expected Maquis to actually think of their enemies as being living creatures, but apparently I was mistaken, now if you'll excuse me," Crave said as he got up, "I've got a job to do."
The Maquis were confused by the strange human, who'd just gotten up while they were about to take his life. "What? Since you're just babbling I won't stay around to be here when you guys kill me," Crave said in response to their confused faces, sounding as if it was the most normal conversation in the world. The leader pressed his gun against Crave's chest. "I dislike weapons, very much" Crave said giving the man a look of intense hate. The sound of snapping bone could be heard as Crave maneuvered the weapon out of the leaders hands, twitching them in an unnatural position. The man sank to the ground, screaming in agony. Crave threw the weapon he'd just taken on the ground. "You see," he spoke to the other Maquis, that looked stunned, "only a fool trusts his life to a weapon."
"Don't," Crave said to the Maquis agent that pointed his rifle at him, "your leader's neck is just as easy to break with my hands as his arms. He positioned his hands on the side of the Maquis agent's leader. "Well?" he asked giving the agents a penetrating look. Glaring at Crave, they dropped their weapons. "Good," Crave said. Blood flew from the leaders mouth as Crave crashed his knee against the man's face. "You'd better take care of him, I think he needs medical attention."
Crave turned his back on the group, collected his phaser rifle from the ground, and moved to his men at the broken building. "Thank you so much, you were all fantastic," Crave said to his men, each following word more sarcastic than the one before. "I don't want an excuse Johnson," Crave said as the man was about to speak. He looked around, and saw a town square up ahead. Crave pointed in the direction. "They should be somewhere there. Fieryheart and McCallen, I want you to circle left, shoot first, ask questions later if necessary, rifles on stunned of course. Same goes for Kline and Johnson, but you guys take left. Gordous, you're with me, we're going to see if we can get to an altitude to get a view on the situation, I hope on of the buildings has an intact staircase, but there's only one way to find out. All clear?" The men nodded. Just then a loud scream came from the town square. "Very well men, move out, and good luck!"
All of a sudden Commander Blayne came out of nowhere and attacked one of the maquis. Realizing this is her one shot to kill the Maquis leader, who joined them a few hours ago, she draws her phaser and stuns him only. The Borg surround the remaining maquis, and their phasers don't work. She quickly unties all of the away team, and unfortunately Illito slaps her across the face.
"What was that for?" She says surprised and no longer smiling.
She turns and finds Commander Wesson and his team coming in too, and Doctor Black joins everyone as well.
"Good to see everyone is alright, now time for me to finish what I started. Good luck gentlemen, and Captain with me please. Our story is that we just barely escaped the Borg because of luck." She says as they head out of town toward the abandoned villages to report their setback.
S'reena was stunned, but also relieved. "He joined the Maquis?" she exclaimed, exchanging glances with the officers on the bridge. Yet she felt relieved because now she finally knew where the captain was. She also understood that the science cadet had also defected to the Maquis, but to aid the away team. Yet, however honorable her aims, the actions were not condonable.
"Hanson to away team. Mr Wesson please arrest Captain Marcell and Cadet Anderson, under suspiscion of treason and beam them directly to the holding area. Until their hearing, they will be stripped of their command codes and access to computer systems will be restricted"
"Aye ma'am," Wesson replied from the surface.
S'reena sat back in her chair. "Status of the Maquis Mr Farquhar?" she asked the young man at the tactical station, "bridge to engineering. How soon can we engage our adversaries again? I don't like playing sitting duck for much longer!"
Once on the surface Tony immeadiatly began to follow orders with the rest of the Maquis. They moved swiftly into town and attacked. The targets were very easy as everyone was trying to get over the attack from space.
Though many borg civilians were quickly taken out, many of the trained ones were able to take cover and defend themselves. Tony hid behind a barrel of what looked like tomatoes and began taking random shots in the general direction the shots were coming from
Then out of the corner of his eye he spotted the burgandy red and black of a starfleet uniform and felt a surge of hatred. Starfleet had ruined his life, they had stripped him his last shred of self-worth.
Through his intense feelings he saw another starfleet running almost right in the open toward them. She had her weapon in it's holster, and didn't seem like she was on the offensive, so he fought them temptation to shoot her.
She headed toward their Maquis leader and began speaking very quickly. Tony squinted at her. He recognized her and the name Anderson popped into his head. A cadet. A cadet that appeared to be deserting her team.
Tony didn't believe it for a second, and he would of told the rest of the Maquis that too, but it was a battle and he couldn't very well just amble over there.
He continued to shoot.
Within minutes they had captured the starfleets. They gathered them up and began to make a sweep of the area. They found they were missing 1 starfleet officer and several borg were still alive. Still it was pretty good for an unplanned attack.
Anderson had openly joined the Maquis now and was gaurding over them. Tony watched from a distance, not trusting himself to get to close. Ado Tahl wouldn't be happy if he killed a hostage without reason. Well a reason that wasn't just hatred of starfleet.
But while they were still looking for the extra officers Tony's former counsellor used his Ornaran power to start a escape.
Tony saw the away team was easily going to take down their capturers, and knew he couldn't stay. As he escaped he saw Anderson shoot the Maquis leader in the back. Tony had been right. It had been a trick.
~With the formerly captive away team~
".....Good luck gentlemen, and Captain with me please....." Anderson said back with the away team, "Captain?" She said looking around. Their former captain had disapeared again.
~At a house a few hundred meters away~
Tony sat down on a wooden chair to catch his breath, and tapped the makeshift maquis communicator on his wrist.
"Marcell to Ado." He said urgently, "The away team overpowered us, I was the only one that escaped. Beam me up. I can't do anything down here, but get captured myself." And with that, Tony once again found himself on the Bridge of the Maquis vessel 'Freedom'.
~On the 'Freedom'~
"What do you mean, 'overpowered' you?!" Ado demanded when Tony appeared on the bridge, "The last report said you'd rounded up all the starfleet officers!"
"The Hanson counsellor has.... powers- he was able to jump start the escape. And another starfleet team joined them too." Tony said, choosing his words carefully as to not make the Maquis commander angrier than he already was, "What about the team on the Hanson- have they captured it yet?" He asked hoping that he could kill S'reena himself, for payback for what she had done to his life.
Illito waited patiently until she was untied, then she slapped Anderson.
“What was that for?” Anderson asked.
“Some people believe that you owe someone who has saved your life a debt. I don’t.” Illito replied.
“So you hit me? That makes absolutely no sense.” Anderson responded in confusion.
“I would love to discuss the finer points of my philosophy of life,” Illito answered, a phaser blast narrowly missing her. “But I really think that we could talk about them some other time.”
She noticed that the Maquis were quickly dispensed of. The Captain, if that was who the Klingon was, had disappeared in a transporter beam, along with a few of the other Maquis.
“How is the situation on the ship?” Illito asked, hoping that someone would answer her question. “I doubt the Maquis would have ignored the Hanson while they carried on the attack here.”
