Ten Forward ~~~
TJ finally found the ambassador in, of all places, Ten Forward, for she, too, had heard the shipwide announcement, and had moved to the side of the room to be out of the way of the meeting.
TJ asked the ambassador to remain present for the meeting, and then took a seat at a table near the head of the room, awaiting the arrival of his senior officers and the new batch of cadets.

Xin-Ling had finished talking over her concerns with the ship's counselor, and so the two of them decided to walk to Ten Forward together. It did not take long.
As Dr. Johnson greeted a few of the new cadets, welcoming them aboard the Hepta, Xin-Ling, curious as to what the mission might be, took a seat near the captain's table.

"We can get started...." Alex started to say and was cut off by an announcement.
"Well, it looks like we are going to a meeting first off. Let's go, cadet," she said getting up pushing the smoothie away from her. She hadn't had much of a chance on meeting the other doctors on the ship yet, and suddenly regretted not doing so. She hoped she wasn't stepping on anyone's toes by just showing up to the meeting.
She noticed some of the officers were starting to show up, and they walked over.
"What do you think this meeting is going to be about?" She asked, hoping to prep him in some way before they reached the designated area of Ten Forward.
(Gary)
"Ok, well no worries, I am sure you will do fine. Just don't sit in the wrong seat, and all will be well," she said teasing him a bit to ease the tension.
They arrived at the meeting, and she noticed another doctor was there. She introduced herself to the other doctor.
"Reporting in, sir," she said, and took her seat as soon as he acknowledged her.

"What do you think this meeting is going to be about?" She asked, hoping to prep him in some way before they reached the designated area of Ten Forward.
Gary shrugged. "I don't know, but I hope it's not just a welcome aboard version of the "we're the future of Starfleet" speech. That would make it 101 times I've heard it since leaving San Fransisco. Nice of them to bring the meeting to us so we don't have to go far, but I always find a way of embarassing myself at these things."
"Ok, well no worries, I am sure you will do fine. Just don't sit in the wrong seat, and all will be well," she said teasing him a bit to ease the tension.
She turned away and greeted the ships counselor, so Gary looked about the room. Shortly he found Cadet Pemberton glancing at the door from time to time as though waiting for someone. "Whats up roomie? got a date or something?"

"No just waiting for my commander so I don't screw up on something." He said glancing at the door. "So I heard you switched to Medical. Sounds fun. I'm in Navigation" He siad glancing back to the door. "I want to be a captian someday but I doubt it will happen." He said with smile.

Jumping ahead just a bit. Officers and cadets can still report in...
Ten Forward ~~~
When all who had been summoned had gathered in Ten Forward, TJ stood. As he did so, a screen lowered itself behind him and to his right, high enough that it could still be clearly seen. On the screen were four marked suns labeled “A”, “B”, “C” and “D” against the stellar backdrop.
“First,” he opened, “I’m wishin’ t’ convey t’ ye all ten thousand greetin’s t’ th’ Hepta, both t’ those who are returnin’, t’ me officers an’ department heads, an’ especially t’ our new cadets.
“’Tis not in me nature t’ be givin’ th’ common speech about each o’ th’ new cadets bein’ th’ future o’ th’ Federation ... that was spoken when ye entered into Starfleet Academy, an’ at th’ conclusion o’ your classroom studies. ‘Tis been thoroughly ingrained in ye by your instructors, an’ your well aware of it. So, we’ll just be gettin’ down t’ th’ business at hand....
“Ye see shown behind me four locations in this quadrant. Th’ star labeled number one is Denebola; number two is Sirius. Our mission is dealin’ with th’ fourth planet in th’ Denebolan system an’ th’ fifth planet circlin’ Sirius.
Both worlds are rich in a variety o’ minerals that radiate an astoundin’ source of energy that could be solvin’ th’ crises o’ scores o’ worlds in th’ Federation.
“Both Denebola IV an’ Sirius V are capital worlds o’ their respective empires. Both have populations of about seven billion, with their controlled empires havin’ a population of about 20 billion each.
“Th’ empires o’ Denebola an’ Sirius now are standin’ at th’ brink o’ war which threatens t’ explode at any time. Th peace negotiations that have been goin’ on will likely be abruptly ended an’ hostilities begun unless somethin’ is done, an’ done quickly.
“Th’ situation is not bein’ helped by privateers from Arcturus III, marked on th’ screen by th’ star labeled “C”, who of late have been sabotagin’ th’ peace talks. Th’ motivation of Arcturus III in hastenin’ th’ outbreak o’ this interstellar war is totally economic in nature. They have a great deal t’ gain by th’ rulin’ worlds o’ Denebola an’ Sirius eliminatin’ each other. That bein’ done, Arcturus III would be steppin’ in an’ reapin’ th’ spoils, takin’ over th’ planetary empires an’ their mineral supplies.”
TJ looked directly at their shipboard guest. He was as yet unsure if her assistant/trainee had contacted her.
“Ambassador, would ye stand, please?” In answer, she rose.
“This is Ambassador Adislo. She is a highly skilled diplomat, and her mission is t’ counteract th’ danger o’ th’ military explosion that threatens t’ destroy both worlds, along with many o’ their subject planets.
“Our mission, shipmates, is t’ escort th’ ambassador safely t’ point ‘D’ on th’ screen, which is th’ site of th’ peace negotiations, where she can, along with her aide, lend her considerable skills in resolvin’ this imminent catastrophe. Th’ second portion o’ th’ Hepta’s mission is t’ do all we can t’ stop th’ Arcturan pirates an’ bring them t’ justice.”
TJ paused briefly, and for a moment an angry frown shaded his face as he remembered Andromache’s escape from justice. He was determined this would not happen again.
“Any questions?” he asked.
<< anyone >>
“Then, me fine crew, let’s be gettin’ t’ work.”
TJ gathered his papers and left Ten Forward on his way to the Bridge.
OOC ...
Welcome aboard to all cadets and crew. Okay all... let's have fun! ;D

The first question came in stereo from Cadets McKnight and Roberts.
""Sir, can we expect hostilities in the area?"
At the duet the two cadets presented, the frown gradually faded from the captain's face, being replaced by his smile and twinkling eyes.
"'Tis a sure possibility. Considerin' we have th' privateers of Arcturus III enterin' into th' equation, we should be prepared for any hostilities developin'. Mr. Parker an' Miss Chan will see t' your readiness for those hostilities."
TJ looked in the direction of Jack Parker and Xin-Ling Chan, who indicated with a nod that the cadets would be prepared for anything that they might face.

Xin-Ling took the material that Kosh handed her and scanned it briefly. When she heard him offer a short apology for his lateness, she said, "No matter, I fill you in later. Take seat beside me and listen to rest of briefing."

Hawk had happened to hear about the crew meeting being in Ten Forward instead of the normal briefing room next to the bridge. He shurgged his shoulders at the news and proceeded toward the lounge. I could use a drink, Hawk thought as he stepped onto the turbo lift.
After a rather uneventful ride on the turbo lift Hawk found himself in Ten Forward. It appeared the Captain had not started his briefing yet so Hawk took the time to find a place around the table facing the Captain. Rumors had spread through out the ship of the next mission and Hawk was eager to hear from the horses mouth.
The Captain's briefing was to the point, the way Hawk liked them to be. After the questions were fired and answered everybody began to get up and leave. Hawk wanted to take this opportunity to meet and greet with his cadets before they had to get to some serious work.
Hawk stood up to face the group, "Any Engineering Cadets please meet me over next to the replicator before heading out."

Derek had just arrived on the Hepta, thnaks to Commander McCormick. He almost missed it. Already reporting in, Derek went to his quaters to start decorating. Like his quaters on the Starbase, he had the Guns N' Roses, Motley Crue, and Queen posters.
After decorating his room, he heard a ship wide announcment on the intercom. The anouncment was to report to 10 forward for the mission briefing.
He arrived, and missed some of it, but he wasn't the only one.
After the breifing, it sort of reminded him of the Old Cold war between the United States and the former U.S.S.R. The breifing was to the point, and he had no questions.

Alex listened to the briefing, and when it was done, she turned to her cadet. "Meet me in sickbay in twenty minutes, and don't be late," she commanded him, then left quickly to set things up. She knew twenty minutes was enough time to prepare for what she had for him.
She arrived in sickbay with more than enough time to spare. She met the sickbay staff, and gave them a bit of a 'I have something to attend to with my cadet' speach, letting them know she would be busy and not to bother her with the trivial cases like a couple of cuts or bruises.
She then headed for her office, and remembered to make the map with a couple of fake coordinaces. She didn't want this to be easy for him in the least bit. She would be watching, but she wanted it to seem like she wouldn't be. She wanted to see what he had learned in the Academy at San Fransisco, and decided this was the best way.
It wasn't long before he joined her. "Welcome to sickbay cadet, many medical instructors would put you to work inventorying supplies, but there has been a call for help on the ship, medical help. I can't leave sickbay at this time, I have another coming who is badly injured. I have to attend him, he is top priority and a member of the ambassador's staff. You will take this map and head to the coordinates listed. You must hurry, I do believe this member is very important to our crew, and that this person's life is in danger. Go now, there is a medkit there on the chair, take it with you, and good luck cadet," she said leaving her office making it look like the she and her staff were preparing for an injured person.
She noticed when he left, and headed for her office. She had the computer show her where he was in all this, and noticed he was making good progress. She had the Holodeck turned on, and a program she created started. She had made sure to get the holodeck for this, and was glad it was available for her test.
The program wouldn't be easy for him, and she knew it. Only a seasoned doctor would be able to pass all of the program's checkpoints, defeating the program. If he defeated it, then she wouldn't need to teach him anything, just guide him when she thought he needed it. She sat back grinning as she watched to see how this would unfold.

Chris listened to the briefing the captain gave. He was expecting that he would be doing the helms, during this. And is there was going to be hostilites then there would be combat flying which chris got good at when he was at the academy. He turned to Gary "Have fun in medical I have to go to the bridge and learn how to use the helms of this ship."

John was starting to get nerveous about the mission, as he had never been in combat before, exept on the holodeck and training, bu that doesn't relly count. He looked around the room trying to take his mind of it, but couldn't see anything intersting. So he then started to listen to the briefing again.

"Sir, can we expect hostilities in the area?" ...
"'Tis a sure possibility. Considerin' we have th' privateers of Arcturus III enterin' into th' equation, we should be prepared for any hostilities developin'. Mr. Parker an' Miss Chan will see t' your readiness for those hostilities." At this, Commander Parker and Xin-Ling glanced at each other.
"Well," she thought, "this going to be busy mission."
As if he had been able to read her thoughts, Commander Parker leaned over to the Asian Warrior and said quietly, "Perhaps you'd better think about teaching that class we discussed earlier."
"Yes, sir; as you wish," she answered, still a little concerned that her teaching skills might not be up to par. TJ looked in the direction of Jack Parker and Xin-Ling Chan, who indicated with a nod that the cadets would be prepared for anything that they might face. At the end of the briefing, Commander Parker nudged her, and Xin-Ling spoke. Fortunately, most all the security cadets were nearby. Those that were not she signalled over, then addressed them all.
"We need to be ready," she told them. "At 1430 hours, Commander Parker and myself want all cadets at door of Holodeck Two. We want to see your technique, and offer suggestion.
"You have three hour before that time. We see you there.
"Dismissed."
"Cadet May, Cadet Darmek, take seat here," she said, indicating two chairs at the table where she now sat. "I fill you in on what you miss of briefing."

When Commander Xin-Ling Chan first called Dereks name, he started to get worried.
*Oh no, first day on the job, and I get yelled at*
But Derek, and the other cadet, Cadet Darmek, didn't get yelled at. Instead, the commander just explained on what they missed.
*Thank god* thought Derek

"Captain, do we have a back-up plan if the talks fail? The ship has just over 300 marines and a few fighters. What the technological capabilities of the two worlds possess? Do u feel the ship itself may be in danger? "As far as a back-up plan in event th' negotiations fail, we were given none. Our duty is t' be providin' transportation t' th' ambassador an' her aide. 'Tis th' ambassador's field t' have a "Plan B" prepared, an' 'tis skilled she is indeed in her field, that bein' th' reason she was selected for this assignment.
"As to th' technological capabilities, neither Denebola IV nor Sirius V are quite in keepin' with th' Federation, but 'tis not far behind us they are. The weapons o' both empires are based on MASER technology. As long as we keep ourselves aware o' th' whereabouts of whoever o' th' two might choose t' be th' adversary in a face-to-face confrontation, 'tis a fightin' chance we have!"
