Chris sat down in the chair. The chair fit easily to his back. "This chair is better then the ones at the academy." Chris said as he looked at the helm controls. He was never trained on a ship this size ever so hopefully he will figure out the controls and the different buttons on the board before the captain wants to depart.

"That's true mr Pemberton," Seth replied, "but mind you, tis all crew that goes through academy, whilst only the (soon to be) officers get to sit in these comfy chairs!"
"That's the fun part of being the helmsman," he continued, "you get to use this chair a lot. Other officers, like in engineering, have to run around a lot, while you can lay back while steering the ship"
Seth suddenly felt like the captain was looking at him, and decided that he wasn't being a good example here.
"At least, that's every navigations officer's dream. In reality you have to be alert at all time during your shift. Normally there will be a couple of shifts each day, but in case of an emergency it can happen that you will spend a very long time at this here console. Therefore it is advisible to keep a kind of routine in sleeping and being awake."
Seth then turned to the console, "you'll have some minutes left for getting to know all the buttons, as you will notice the arrangement is quite logical, the console can even be set for left or right handed use. At the moment we're waiting for the captains signal. Is there anything that you would like to know or say before we start preparing for departure?"

"Not really just a little nervous and very anxious to get under way." Chris said still figuring out the controls he got down almost all the controls and the certain buttons he would be using. He also switched the console to a right hand user control.

... The tension was rising. It always was when the Hepta was about to set sail. The crew were at their stations. Slowly but surely, the Hepta drifted out of spacedock. The coordinates were set, the Hepta was ready.
TJ nodded to James, who in turn looked at Commander Bern. "Mr Bern, whenever you are ready...."; Commander Bern responded with a light smile. "Engage!" The Hepta shot into warp 7, on her way to the negotations. Consider the above post to officially happen now.
In other words... "Mr. Bern, have your cadet take us out – whenever you're ready!"

David was nearly overwhelmed by the order prompts as the cadet at his side, a cadet he understood to called Chris Pemberton, took the ship slowly down and out of the dock. Engineering was being particularly insistent and David's hands flew over his screen allotting an increase in computer power and an increase in lifesupport as the umbilical connecting the Hepta was severed. He wasn't worried about his instructor, but he was rather worried about how his Captain would respond to his abilities.
The young cadet resisted the urge to turn about and look at anything but his screen and the constant information flow as well as the request prompts were continuously crowding his screen. He was working as fast as he could but his hands just weren't moving fast enough. Just when he thought he would not be able to continue, a new prompt came up on his immediate screen.
**Computer assistance is now available, enter command sequence Alpha 1 to engage computer assistance protocols**
David nearly collapsed he was so relieved. Of course, he wouldn't be able to handle all that information by himself. He was almost annoyed that he had not remembered Alpha 1 until the computer reminded him. David quickly entered the sequence and happily watched the computer process the minor requests. He began active scanning and noted that the immediate area was clear of any hostile forces.
"The way is clear, Captain," he said quickly, "Continuing active scan."

Sheeta kept a good eye on her cadet. She almost made a suggestion, but she decided not to. He seemed to be doing very well, even though he forgot something until the computer reminded him. She knew it would remind him, so there was nothing she could do to help.
Suddenly Sheeta thought about making an energy spike on his screen to see what he would do with it, and she changed the display to show it, but it only looked very little being hidden by a few other systems. She didn't have it hit anything big, and if she could smile she would have.
Cadet, you are doing a good job, if you keep this up, I won't have anything to do later. No worries though, I am sure I can think of something to keep me busy, even if it involves a nap. She sent to him via the computer teasing him a little bit. She liked that she didn't have to tell him what to do every step of the way, and watched him closely to see what he would do next.
Cadet Ramsey had impressed her. Sheeta found that it was really hard to impress her, and she was glad he had done so, even if it was only a tad.

Seth looked at his cadet and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.
"I know that you can do this cadet!" he said, after which he smiled and added, "And don't worry. Almost every part on this ship can be replaced"
He then took out his padd to carefully note any comments about the departure. Of course he did this while standing behind him, sothat he wouldn't make Chris nervous.

"Mr. Bern, have your cadet take us out – whenever you're ready!"
After the captain gave the order for the ship to be taken out of dock. Chris reported into the dock. "This is the USS Hepta reporting for orders to leave space dock."
The dock sent back a messafe " USS Hepta you have been clear to leave Space Dock have a good mission."
After chris got the okay from space dock he let the cords loose and began moving the ship in position to exit the dock doors. He took the ship out of the dock doors easily and without stress. As he got the Ship out into open space chris felt a sudden calm and relief that the hard part was over. Chris turned to the Captain. "Sir we have left Space Dock and the ship is ready to go to warp."

Chris turned to the Captain. "Sir we have left Space Dock and the ship is ready to go to warp." TJ smiled, and his eyes mirrored that smile. It was good to be back in space again at the beginning of a new mission. This had been the first diplomatically-related mission he had commanded, and he wondered what it would bring.
He was pleased with the cadets' performances thus far. It was going to be a good mission.
"Commander Bern, would ye mind doin' th' honors?"

"Ship uncloaking off the ship's bow"
David quickly surveyed his systems and conducted a level one scan of all systems connectivity. The power spike had emanated from the environmental control system, but it was a minor problem that he easily negotiated.
"That's a scan ghost ... I'm not picking up any ships," David said quickly, "Try your system power up now, you shouldn't have a problem."
He didn't look up, but he felt his neck turn red. He should have been on top of that power spike before it caused any problems with any other systems. It was small and he'd ignored it when he should have been paying attention for just that sort of thing.
He sat back as the ship jumped to warp and tried not to lose his cool. David began active warp scan and a continual systems analysis just in case another spike began to build. He was happy to see that the systems were operating normally.

*kiara stood back listening to Cadet Darmok as he spoke then she spoke up*
Sir, if it's possible i recommend shutting down any non essential program, like Holodecks and such until we find out whats causing the failure and as Cadet Darmok suggested Limit use of the Primary systems. Also is it possible to run a few system diagnostics to determine the cause of the malfunction *She questioned and waited for a response*

Hawk had made his way down to Main Engineering just as the Hepta went to warp. He normally wanted to be down and waiting in Engineering well before the ship headed out but personal issues left him busy.
"Report." Hawk said as he walked into Main Engineering.
"All systems are a go."
"Good," Hawk said walking toward the Warp Core, "Keep me updated."
Standing at the console in front of the Warp Core, Hawk quickly sent out a message for all the Engineering Cadets to report to Engineering ASAP.

"Make it so."

The fight with the gar was over. Gary fought his way once again to a standing position, and continued on toward the door at the end of the passageway. He opened up the door, and saw an impossibly huge Terrace, to be found on a starship. At least now he knew he was on a holodeck. Gary walked out and found a woman sitting on the edge of a bed, where reclined a very sick looking D'haran nobleman. The woman shot to her feet.
"How did you get in here?" She asked. Gary was considered by some to be rather tall, but this woman was at least a head taller than he was, and quite intimidating. Taller still, was the unconcious man on the bed.
"I walked through that door behind me." He said.
"I meant how did you get past Gratch?"
"You mean the furry bat thingie that needs a manicure? He's napping."
"Who are you?"
"Cadet Gary Owens. Medical Intern, assigned aboard USS Hepta on a training mission."
"A trainee? Lord Rahl falls ill, and they send a trainee?" She held out a leather rod, and attempted to touch him with it, but just before it made contact, the program ended, and the walls returned to their normal black field, with gold crossgrid.
OOC: For an answer to why thi simulation ended, see the immediately preceding post by cadet Sienta, and Captain Edwards.
IC: The computer announced: "This program has been suspended due to ships status. Your progress has been saved.
Gary shrugged and exited, and headed off to sickbay.
