“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it.” Katie said.
"Yeah you did," Paikea said with a smile and laugh," you know that you look great drenched."
“Thanks.” Katie said with heavy sarcasm.
It had been such a long time since, Paikea had laughed or even smiled around Katie. It felt so natural, just like when they first met. The fact that Katie had actually given him a light punch in the arm brought a bigger smile to his face.
"I see that you still hit hard," Paikea said as he rubbed the spot that he had been hit," I presume you were heading to the briefing?"
“I was but now I don’t think I’m going to make it on time looking like this.” Katie said.
"Here, take this," Paikea said as he removed one his shirts," it will cover the spots on your shirt. Your hair unfortunately I can't fix."
Katie took Paikea’s shirt and held it up against her body as if to cover herself up. She couldn’t very well change right in front of him and she didn’t want to ruin his shirt by putting it on over her wet clothes.
“I think I should just see you later. I should really change before the meeting.” Katie suggested.

Bowing his head to hide his embarassment, Tras murmured a thank you to Pride. When Parsons announced his meeting, he tried to keep his attention on the commander, now acting captain. "I'm not buying it," Tras countered, "they wouldn't send Drago on a covert mission. It's no secret he's not trusted with the admiralty because of his past. And we've not been asked to vouch for him."
He listened again as Pride offered his own questions, then sat up a little straighter when he made the suggestion about the helm position. "Commander Pride, please don't refer to me as if I'm not here." He was annoyed that his friend took the liberty of publicly referring to a disability well kept secret so far. "I've managed to do my job on any position so far, I don't need special treatment or special arrangements."
He glared at Parsons, daring him to call him out on it, before sitting back down in his seat. "Why are we refitting the Carolina? Aren't we given a whole new ship? The Carolina was mothballed for good reason all those years ago."

Bowing his head, Tras murmured something to Pride, then spoke up, "I'm not buying it; they wouldn't send Drago on a covert mission. It's no secret he's not trusted with the admiralty because of his past. And we've not been asked to vouch for him."
Some of the newer senior staff looked a bit confused and possibly even shocked by Tras' statement. "If the admiralty did not trust Captain Drago, he would not be a Captain. As for his current whereabouts, I only know what I have been briefed and I have no reason to question or doubt Admiral Lin. I would be happy to discuss this matter further after the briefing. Parsons replied before asking, "any other questions?"
"Commander, how long before she's schedule to start shake down," Pride piped up.
"That depends on how long the refit takes. Right now that's scheduled for two to three weeks, so we could expect to get underway sometime after that," Parsons responded.
"Sir, I would recommend that Commander Tras tag along with us and that he be our helm officer on this shake down. That's of course if its okay with you and Commander Tras. I'm sure the doctor can come up with a way for Commander Tras to at least see the orders issued to the helm with out him having to look back every moment," Pride added.
Tras sat up a little straighter and countered, "Commander Pride, please don't refer to me as if I'm not here." He was annoyed that his friend took the liberty of publicly referring to a disability well kept secret so far. "I've managed to do my job on any position so far, I don't need special treatment or special arrangements."
He glared at Parsons before sitting back down in his seat. "Why are we refitting the Carolina? Aren't we given a whole new ship? The Carolina was mothballed for good reason all those years ago."
Parsons was slightly confused by Tras' apparent glaring at him, but simply held eye contact until Tras returned to his normal posture. "Mr. Pride, Mr. Tras, why don't the two of you stick around after the briefing and we will discuss Commander Tras' role on the ship if he wishes to stay. As for the South Carolina, it has undergone the same extensive refit that many of the other Nova Class vessels in the fleet have; we are just putting on the final touches. Additionally, this is not necessarily our new ship. This is a temporary assignment."
Parsons glanced around again. "If there are no further questions, the rest of you are dismissed."

The out burst from his friend was enought, to let him know he had crossed a line. Looking over at Commander Tras " I'm sorry I did not mean to imply you needed any special treatment. You are a capable officer there is no question about that, I was trying to make it easy for the rest of the crew."
Looking back over at Commander Parsons he could tell he was not happy about the out burst. Let alone the comments made about the ship or Captain Drago, great get the guy angry before you leave space dock.
Looking back over at his friend and keeping his voice low mouthing the words. " When he's done with us, I want a word with you myself about what just happened." He would do everything he could to help his friend accept self destruct. He would go that far and he wasn't going to let Tras destroy himself either.

“I think I should just see you later. I should really change before the meeting.” Katie suggested.
"You don't need to change, my shirt will cover you up sufficently," Paikea said smiling," plus you always take a long time choosing what to wear."
(Katie)
"Trust me, Parson won't say anything" Paikea said now slightly nudging Katie," and if he does I'll tell him that it was my fault."

"You don't need to change, my shirt will cover you up sufficiently," Paikea said smiling," plus you always take a long time choosing what to wear."
”I do not!” Katie fired back.
"Trust me, Parson won't say anything" Paikea said now slightly nudging Katie, "and if he does I'll tell him that it was my fault."
Katie stood with her arms folded while she put on a pouty face. She wanted nothing more than to just go back to her place and change into her clothes or her uniform, anything but the wet and sticky clothes she was wearing. Instead she just stood there tapping her toe while she debated on weather she should put on Pai’s shirt or rush home and change.
Katie felt as if she was standing there for hours tapping her toe and giving what she thought was the best pouty face she could muster. She wasn’t really mad but she hoped that she was putting on a good show of it. This wasn’t even her favorite dress it was just an old thing she had kept from back home. The one piece of the outfit she was really concerned about was her shoes. She hadn’t bothered to look down at them yet but she felt cold wet spots on her ankles where Pai’s drink had penetrated her tights.
“Fine, but turn around.” Katie finally gave in.
Katie waited for Paikea to turn around and cover his eyes before she quickly took off her top and put on his shirt. It was a huge thing on her and almost went past her skirt. Looking at how big it was on her she felt like an idiot and it gave her more fuel to want to go home and change.
“OK you can turn around now, but don’t laugh.” Katie said.

“OK you can turn around now, but don’t laugh.” Katie said.
Paikea already knew that his shirt would be a few sizes to big for Katie's smaller frame, but when he saw her standing in front of him he couldn't help but laugh.
"I'm sorry, but you look like.... well honestly I don't know what you look like," Paikea said his sides now starting to hurt. His reaction was to be expected and so was Katie's reaction which meant that pretty soon one of his limbs would soon become very sore.
"I t's not that bad, we just have to rip off a few lengths to it," Paikea said," we can take a little bit there, and a little bit there too. We just have to tear it off."
(Katie)
"Plus, if we go to the meeting like this, they will just think that we playing a prank," Paikea said," I miss being a troublemaker you know."

Katie felt like slugging him a good one in the arm but she didn’t. She knew that would only make him laugh harder. It would’ve been a combination of her wet hair, her petite size and add to that the oversized shirt she was now wearing and you got a laugh riot in Pai’s book.
"Plus, if we go to the meeting like this, they will just think that we playing a prank," Paikea said," I miss being a troublemaker you know."
“I don’t think we need to tear anything off. Can we just go now?” Katie said rudely.
They started to walk and instantly Katie felt it. Her feet were sloshing around in her shoes. What ever it was that Paikea was drinking had crawled its way down into her new shoes and now she was really mad. With each step she heard a rubbing sound as her feet moved inside her shoes. Paikea of course couldn’t help but laugh at every one of her steps.
Finally she couldn’t take anymore. With out warning she slugged Pai a good one in his arm. She doubted that she hurt him but it didn’t matter it made her feel better and for some odd reason it seemed to make him feel better too.
Katie stopped abruptly and grabbed onto Paikea’s arm to balance while she pulled off her shoes. She knew that she had just dropped another couple of inches in height and now felt that much smaller when standing next to Paikea and his towering frame.
He smiled a guanine smile at her and she couldn’t help but melt because of it. Sure she was angry about her shoes and her clothes but there was something special about that boys smile that just made her melt inside. She then noticed something else, Paikea had returned to his old self. The last time she saw him he was sulking about something he refused to talk about and now he was full of life again. She would have to remember to make a note of it for her report at the end of the night but right now she wanted to enjoy this moment.
Reaching out with her free hand she slowly fit her fingers in between his and pulled herself closer to him. She then rested her head on his arm as they walked she began to forget about her wet hair, clothes and soggy shoes.

He was worried about his friend Tras it seemed like he was lost with in himself. Not knowing where he belonged or that matter if he wanted to belong. The crew seemed lost to each other right now accept for Illito but that was a differnt matter.
He wanted to help his friends come back together again and be a crew. They were family everybody even Tras weather or not he felt like it.
Looking around the confernce room " May I suggest we all get aboard the south Carolina and see where she's at in her refit. Then we can make a plan for her shake down cruise and what will need to happen for it"

Adam waited for the rest of the crew to filter out until only Tras and Pride remained.
"Commander Tras, I would like very much for you to remain aboard as our temporary Chief Conn Officer. You don't need to let me know now. I will talk to you at the Scavenger Memorial tomorrow evening. I would also like to talk to you about your concerns about the Captain and the South Carolina. Maybe the three of us can find a corner after the speeches at the reception."
Parsons waited for Tras to exit and then turned to his new Acting First Officer. "Commander Pride, I would appreciate it if you discussed personnel issues with me in private before they are brought up in a staff meeting."
Pride started to appologize...
"No apology is necessary, Commander. I just wanted to make you aware of my preference. I know you will do an excellent job as First Officer until the Captain returns from his assignment. I will see you at the Memorial." Adam then got up with a smile and headed back to his office.
<OOC: This should be the last post on this thread, but I have set up a Between Missions Thread for the Memorial service.>
