Nick stood with his arms crossed in front of him. Before him was the line of cells containing the creatures from the boarding party and their 'Captain'. The 'Captain', or Sangheili as they called him, had been stripped of his armor and gadgets. He now sat on the bunk cradling his head in his hands.
"You have alot of nerve attacking a Federation outpost," Nick said to the alien.
"They were in our space," the creature said in a deep voice. The translator obviously having a bit of fun with the voice.
"This sector has been under our control for 70 years. Until now no one has had a problem with this."
"The Ardaran are bound by no one. Our space is our own."
"So that explains why you have Klingon and Romulan technology."
"It was readily accessable. Our planet cannot sustain advanced technological advancement. We look to the stars and prophets to provide. And thus far they have provided." The creature stood to defend it's honor.
"Yeah. If you ain't using it we will," one of the little grunts blurted. The translator lagged slightly and Nick noticed their language sounded more like barking than talking.
"Silence!" Sangheili yelled, the surrounding grunts scattered in their cells and became very quiet. "As we speak a fleet of our finest ships is on its way to destroy you. You cannot stand against our might."
"Funny I would have thought that an all powerful race of conquerors would use modern technology." Sangheili lunged at the forcefield and let out a roar.
"We are unstopable! You cannot possibly withstand our fleet."
"Watch me," Nick said with a grin and walked out of the room. Sangheili stood there seething, the grunts all around whispered amongst themselves as no to encur wrath from thier superior.

"L'Ola I need you to take the secondary and tertiary modules to the planet to rescue our scientists. Before the MVA mode was activated and the Vesuvius was split into its three modules Fox had gone to the bridge on the secondary module. Short after he arrived the ship split up. Walking onto the bridge he looked around. It already was full of people. He walked to the helm console and took his place on the chair behind it. After a while L'Ola gave the order to leave orbit and take the modules to the planet. ~Alright here we go~ Fox thought and tabbed some buttons on his console. The module left its orbit around the planet, not much later it entered the planets atmosphere. During their ride down to the planets surface they scanned for the life-signs of the scientists. Most of them were gathered together so Fox piloted the module into that direction. Not much later he initiated the landing procedure and set the module down on the planet near the place the scientists had gone to.

Klingon Scientist Mareen squinted against the heat and the sand storms. She could have sworn she saw something huge land on the desert surface of Hades. "Run!" she yelled, as she unslung the bat'leth she carried on her back. The weapon had been given to her by her father, who had honoured her request to work on the multi-culti Outpost, where Romulans, Klingons, Cardassians, Humans and many other species worked together in peace. A few other Klingons, and even a human and Vulcan remained behind with her, all armed with traditional weapons. The Vulcan male wielded a lirpa with practiced ease. "Here they come!" Mareen cried, and added a Klingon battle yell to her cry. However, it weren't attackers they saw. The group was wearing Starfleet uniforms, and only now did Mareen see that the huge object that had landed was part of a Starship. "T'Rhan!" she cried at the nearest officer, "did you find him? He was left behind on Pegasus, please you must find him!" <anyone on the team?...more later in a separate post, hopefully as I also still got all of last week's trivia to correct...as well as I got a busy day today....and Im not having my best day cause I'm worried about Mouse, one of my gerbils.... >

Sonak lost her balance as the inertial dampeners failed to compensate for the shock that was sent through the ship after it settled down in the desert sands. She threatened to fall over and slip on the wet floor, but fortunately Jatan caught her and helped her regain her balance.
She was still wrapped in her towel, and had only just been drying her hair. Sonak watched Jatan's toned body, and admired him in silence. Then she continued to dress herself and ordered a fresh towel from the replicator, after recycling her damp one. "I believe we have landed the ship," she said softly, "or at least part of the ship."
Jatan nodded, wrapped his arm around her shoulders and steered her away from the pool.
"Afraid I will be running off to the bridge instead of elsewhere with you?" Sonak asked innocently, but leaned into his embrace. Passerby crewment were gazing at them in surprise, they knew their commanding officer as emotionless, or at least close to emotionless. They had never seen her walk in close quarters of a male, not even her late bondmate Seliv. They ignored the crewmen, but Sonak was growing increasingly curious as to where Jatan was leading her.
"Where are we goin?" she finally asked.

''Open a link!'' the towering creature from the command seat barked.
*/-\* Neshmir! Match speed with our vessel. */-\*
*/-\* As you command. */-\*
The second Romulan scout ship made a broad sway trough space and ended up next to it's brother, matching speeds.
''ETA?'' the creature commanded. ''Ten minutes, Superior One,'' one of the grunts replied.
''Exelent, engage the cloacking device, and have Neshmir do the same with his ship!''
''Incoming call!'' ''What is it?'' the creature responded anoyed.
*/-\* You sound tense Kordumir. */-\*
*/-\* What do you want Neshmir? */-\*
*/-\* Our cloaking device has failed, we will not be able to carry out your designated attack. */-\*
*/-\* You morons! Get it back up! */-\*
*/-\* That will take twenty minutes, Superior One. */-\*
*/-\* You have eight! */-\*
Kordumir silenced the connection. The door on the bridge opened. ''Superior One?'' the short creature that'd entered rasped, ''we are prepared.'' ''Exelent! That's at least some good news!'' Kordumir said pleased.
''ETA four minutes, we need to cloack for the attack if we want it to work,'' a nervous grunt said, kneeling in front of the larger Kordumir.
*/-\* Neshmir! Status! */-\*
*/-\* We will not be succesfull untill- */-\*
Kordumir cut off the link. ''There is no more use for them. Make sure they won't get in our way.''
The grunt behind the tactical station apparently got the hint, and seconds later all there was left of Neshmir's ship was burning wreckage.
''A call from the High Corporal, Superior One.''
''In my office!'' Kordumir said dexterously rising from his seat. ''Morrin, take over,'' he commanded the little one that'd entered the bridge.
In his office the shady face of the High Corparal emerged in front of Kordumir.
''Are things set Kordumir?'' it spoke slowly. Kordumir bowed. ''Yes High Corporal, unfortunately Neshmir needed to be disposed of, but that was vital to our succes,'' Kordumir explained.
''I do not doubt your tactical skills Kordumir, I trust you decided well. Now, let's show this 'Federation' that they have entered our territory.''
Kordumir bowed once more to the screen before he closed the link.
*/-\* Superior One, we have arrived. */-\*
*/-\* Exelent! */-\*
Kordumir stormed onto the bridge, and nearly kicked the grunt out of the commanding seat. ''Get ready,'' he shouted at it. The grunt bowed and hurried off to get his troops.
''You know our tactics 2nd Under Commander,'' Kordumir said to the grunt at the helm station.
It eagerly nodded and furiously began entereing commands, tilting the old Romulan vessel to go around the Federation ship, and attack from behind once given the command.
This will be perfection! Kordumir smiled to himself, awaiting the High Corporal's call.
***
Sleep still in his eyes Daniel sat behind his office. He'd definately needed to get more sleep at night.
His eyelids slowly sank downward, but at once snapped open as the ship violently rocked.
Rough landing, Daniel thought picking himself up. He was going to tag along to pick up the scientists from the surface, they may like someone to talk to, and Daniel decided he'd be of more use down there than on the part of the ship that was getting into a fight.
This is a lot safer too, he thought.
The transporter room was the place they'd meet up, so Daniel headed there, after passing by his quarters to don some suitable clothing for the rough surface beneath.

Everyone on the bridge was slightly confused when one Romulan vessel destroyed the other. Then just as suddenly the Romulan cloaked. Nick spun around to tactical.
"Track their energy signature. They should be moving around behind us," he ordered the officer on duty.
"Aye sir."
The ship shuddered slightly as the first volley from the other ships hit. So far the ship was able to take it. The antiquated weapons long since lost their effectivness against a modern starship.
"That was the Gorn and Andorian ships. Shields holding at 99%. Romulan decloaking now. Firing."
The ship shook more violently. The lights slightly flickered and some sparks flew from a non-essential monitor.
"Shields down to 70%," the tactical officer reported.
"Return fire. Show them what they're dealing with. Disable, do not destroy," Nick ordered, he stood up and smoothed out his tunic ala Picard.
OOC: I'll continue tomorrow.

"Where are we going?" she asked again, as Jatan didnt answer her the first time.
"You'll see" he said and he winked at her, taking her hand and squeezing it gently as he lead her out into the corridor. She noticed they were heading in the direction of the holodecks which were located not too far from the pool. They came to the door of holodeck one and Reckus paused momentarily.
"Computer, run programme Reckus gamma theta two"
beep. programme now running on holodock one
He turned to her and smiled. "Lets go" he said, kissing her hand whilst holding her gaze. Sonak remembered one of the many reasons that she had fell for Reckus - he was unbelievably romantic and very much the gentleman.
They entered the deck and immediately Sonak felt the heat against her face. She looked around and saw she was walking on the softest of white sand and noticed the waves lapping against it. She was amazed at the colour of the water - it was such an amazing blue - in fact, it reminded her of the colour of Jatan's eyes. ~ Wow ~ was all she could think.
"Hey, over here!" his voice broke her thoughts and she saw Reckus waving from a couple of beach chairs a short distance away.
"This is a truely amazing place Jate" she said, walking towards him and handing him her clean towel, which he promptly placed on her chair. He smiled at her and looked out towards the water.
"I'm glad you like it" he replied. "I've wanted to bring you here for a while"
"Where exactly are we?" she asked. She couldnt place where this was although she had the strongest of feelings that it was somehere on Earth.
"It's somewhere that means a lot to my family" he replied. "It's a small place on the Yucutan peninsula, that my Grandparents used to go to ...and Mom and Dad too" he said.
"The Yucatan?" Sonak scratched her head. "Is that not located in the Carribean Sea?" she asked. "Part of Earth..." she added, stopping abbruptly.
"Right" he replied, brushing sand off his shorts. "It's renowned for being extremely hot but very sunny too" "And the water is gorgeous for swimming" he added. And with that he picked Sonak up, threw her over his shoulder and he raced down towards the water. She was screaming - half with fear and the other with laughter.
"No Jatan!! Stop it!" she squealed with laughter as she felt herself fall off his shoulders and into the water...but this water was not cold, it was as warm as bath water. "Aah" she sighed and let herself turn onto her back, skulling the water with her hands just below the surface. She spied Jatan doing exactly the same thing close by to her so she decided to head towards him....

She swam closely under the surface, only resurfacing when she knew she was right under him. With her hands she lifted him in the air briefly, and gave him a light shove. Then, she held him as he resurfaced. "Thank you for bringing me here," she whispered, "it is so quiet and peaceful, I can understand why you love to spend time here."
For a long time they just floated in the sea water, enjoying each other's company, the water, and the quiet. At last, Sonak got out of the water and waded towards their towels. "I could spend eternity here, were it no that I have a ship to run," she commented, still wanting desperately to go to the bridge and be part of whatever was happening. It wasn't that she didn't trust Nick with her ship, because she did, more than anyone else, but she was the commanding officer, and in times of attack, her place was on the bridge.
She sighed as she lay down on the beach chair, surprised to find a cool drink sitting on a table between the chairs. "This is paradise," she sighed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The old Klingon DY class vessel hung tightly controled in the tractorbeam of the primary Vesuvius module. Aboard it, the chief engineer had managed to elude any scans from the Federation vessel. Kigyar grunted as he shuffled from engineering to the bridge, moaning under the weight of the sensor mask. Sometimes, being only one meter and twenty centimeters tall was being a real pain in the [word deleted].
He knew exactly what he was doing, as he weakened the structural integrity of the old Klingon vessel. But before engaging his little scheme, he made sure that he had a safe exit. Running occult scans of the Federation ship, he noticed a weakness, and smiled to himself. Now he would be able to beam over unnoticed, and possibly free his comrades.
Before setting the controls of the transporter, he piped up a command to the bridge to weaken the structural integrity of the ship. With his deadly weapon in hand, he stepped up to the transporter pad, and initated transport. Only seconds after he materialized in engineering of the primary module, did the old DY buckle under the stress of the tractorbeam, and explode.
Kiryar grunted in satisfaction, as he hid himself in the engineering office, under plain sight of a troubled and angry looking woman, who seemed to look right through him. This pleased him greatly as now he knew for sure that his sensor mask and cloak were working.

Jason walked into the transporter room, "Reporting as ordered, Sir" he said mockingly. He had no problem respecting rank, he just knew L'Ola hated thinking she was in charge.
"Yeah it's good to see you to. Hope you haven't destroyed my department yet."
"Well, you see..." He tried to make himself look innocent, giving the desired effect of uncertainty.
She smiled briefly, realising that she wanted to be representing scientists with similar backgrounds, not the one running the party. *Thank heavens this isn't permanent* she thought *mental note to self: never become a first officer full time*
L'Ola looked around the room, nearly all there. But who was missing? She couldn't remember. *This is not good*
Luckily, the door opened and Daniel walked in before she had to work out who to call.
"Okay people, let's go." The away team stepped onto the transporter pads. "Energize"
The security officers spun round to check all directions. "Relax, we're here to help them. If they've got anything planned I'm sure you won't be able to spot it by being paranoid." She tried to cover up the fact that she was feeling more than a little uneasy. It wasn't just the mission. She'd been carefully avoiding Daniel since they left the starbase, and had no desire to be psychoanalysed.
They headed over to a group of tents. A Klingon woman wandered out. "Who are you and what are you doing here?" She demanded.
"Hi, I'm Commander Kanz from the USS Vesuvius. We came here in response to a distress signal."
A strange look crossed the Klingon's face. "In that case, welcome to Hades. You won't be staying long. I will have everyone rounded up shortly." She turned to leave.
"Wait, what's your name? It would be great to have a contact." L'Ola tried to speak as diplomatically as possible, but realised being overpolite wouldn't really do them any favours.
"Why does that matter to you, Betazoid?"
A light clicked on in L'Ola's head, "I know you, don't I? You seem familiar from somewhere. How else would you know I'm a Betazoid."
Mareen studied her closely, "You are very much improved I see, gagh-brains."
The security officers stepped forward a little. Daniel tried to stop them, "Is there a problem?"
L'Ola shook her head, "No, not at all. Mareen and I just have a little catching up to do. It must have been, what? 17 years?"

Nephi accesssed sensors and obtained all the information he could about the Station's status from here. Main power was offline, and the back-up generators were running out. Their defensive shield was done. Environmental control must have been damaged, as the oxygen was only 75% of normal, and the temperature was 3 degrees below normal.
"Thats all I can do from here. I need to get over there. Grant, Patterson, you're with me." He tapped his comm-badge. "Jacobson to Security."
"Leavitts here. Go ahead, Lt."
"I need a Security detail for an away mission to the Station. 2 Security Officers will be sufficient. Have them meet me in Transporter room 5."
"We'll be right there. Leavitts out."
Nephi grabbed a tool kit and, with Grant and Patterson in tow, went to the transporter room. Leavitts himself was one of the Security, Nephi discovered when he got there. They were both carrying compression phaser-rifles.
Nephi addressed the away team. "Be aware that the environmental controls are malfunctioning on the Station. The air will be a little cold and thin. Lets go. Beam us to the Control Center"
They stepped aboard the transporter pad, and appeared in the Control Center. It was a little dark. Nephi shined his light around. A beam had fallen from the ceiling, laying diagonal in the air. Wires and tubes were hanging out everywhere. Debris lay on the floor.
"Man this place is a mess. Alright, lets spread out. Check all the systems."
Nephi, Grant and Patterson each went to a console. Nephi went to the Power systems. "Main power is offline, obviously, and the back-up systems are at 50% and falling. We'll have to restore those.
Grant went to Environmental control. "Oxygen recyclers are damaged, operating at 85% That explains the thin air. The heating is a delayed-venting system from the primary reactor. Since the reactor's done, less heat.
Patterson went to Tactical. "Defensive weapons, what little there are, are offline. The shields fried too."
Leavitts was at Internal sensors. "I'm not reading anyone else on board, but we can't trust these sensors. We'll have to be on our guard."
Nephi looked around the room. "Alright, lets get to work."

Jatan smiled as he watched Sonak make her way back to the beach. She had no idea...... it wouldnt be long til nightfall and he wanted to make this so special....he grinned to himself ~ Boy, you're a fool ~ he thought to himself. He came out of the warm water and made his way to where Sonak was lying on the lounger and he began to dry himself off. He felt the sun on his back and he sighed. It felt so good to be here again, he had really missed it. As Sonak lay dozing, he made his way up to the small restaurant nearby.
Sonak woke and realised Jatan wasnt there. She looked out into the water but couldnt see him either. ~ Now where's he gone?! ~ she thought to herself.
"I'm right here!" he said, approaching her from behind, and handing her another drink.
"Thanks" she said and sipped the cold liquid greatfully, as it was still warm and she hadnt been used to it for a long while.
"It's nearly time to get ready" Jatan said. "Remember we were going to go and eat on Bellicose?"
"Aah....our dinner date" she replied. "I'm sorry Jate, I had forgotten all about that"
He smiled. "Thats ok, I thought we could do it now" he said. "We are able to go get showered and changed and then Juan will serve us what ever we fancy"
Sonak smiled and then the dawn of realisation hit her "But I have nothing to wear " she started.
"Thats ok, there will be something nice for you to choose in the room" he interrupted. "Come, let's go" he said, looking at his watch.
They wandered up to the room and let themselves in. It was a nice, bright room that was nice and cool. There was a big shower and bath in the bathroom with all sorts of exotic creams and gels. After having a relaxing bath, Sonak walked out into the room and towards the wardrobe. She was amazed by all the clothes in there, but she settled on a beautiful dress that felt it would keep her cool on this warm evening. Whilst she was deciding, Jatan slipped into the shower. He was carefully rehearsing what he was going to say to her....
They walked down to the restaurant hand in hand. Reckus had settled on a short sleeved cotton shirt and cotton chinos - Sonak couldnt help but sneak glances at him. She was unused to seeing her beau in such attire - and it certainly made him look even more handsome. They entered the restaurant and the waiter greeted them and showed to a table by the 'windows' that were really just large areas of space formed inbetween large beams of oak and pine branches; that acted as the frame of the exterior of the building.
"Buenas noches senor y senorita. Bienvenido a la brisa"
"Gracias" replied Jatan. "Dos menus por favor"
"Si Senor" and the waiter disappeared off to get two menus and a couple of glasses. Sonak was impressed.
"I didnt know you could speak Spanish" she said, gazing at him.
"Oh well, it's nothing" he replied, blushing slightly. "I learned it at school but as we have universal translators and the like, there is not much call for using it. I practice whenever I am here"
A second waiter approached the table. "Good evening Senor Jatan" he said, shaking Reckus' hand.
"Good evening Juan, que pasa?" he asked.
Juan laughed. "Not much until you showed up." he looked across at Sonak. "Are you not going to introduce me to the most gorgeous lady in the whole restaurant tonight?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. Sonak blushed.
"This is my girlfriend - Sonak" replied Jatan with a twinkle in his eye and a big grin on his face.
Juan took her hand and kissed it gently. "The pleasure is all mine" he said. "You are a lucky lady Senorita Sonak"
"Hmmmm, yes, thank you Juan - I most certainly am." Now it was Jatan that was blushing. As they were talking, the original waiter bought over a bottle of wine and the menus.
"Would you like tonight's special?" Juan asked. "Just for you two I will do the most exotic cuisine, served with the best hospitality this side of the carribean"
"That sounds lovely" replied Sonak, looking to Jatan. He nodded and smiled. "Thank you, that would be brilliant" he replied.
"then so shall it be" replied Juan, taking their menus. "I bring you some starters shortly"
Sonak turned to face Reckus. "I am truely honoured that you have bought me here" she remarked, taking his hand in hers and entwining her fingers with his.
He looked out towards the sea and back at her. "I'm so glad you think so" he replied finally. "I had so hoped that you would - I know it was only a day but I wanted to treat you to a nice day of rest and relaxation before I send you back to the bridge"
"Really?" Sonaks ears perked up. "Do you think I am fit to go back on duty?" she asked, a trace of excitement in her voice.
"Well, I believe your mental state is good but I think you will have to talk to Ensign McVeye about that fully. But physically I believe you are ready to go back"
She sat back in her chair and smiled. "Thank you Jatan, that is excellent news" she replied. She looked at him. ~ He looks distracted with something ~ she thought. "Is everything OK my love? You looked perturbed" she said.
~ It's now or never ~ he thought to himself.
"Well, there is something else....." he trailed off.
"Yes, what is it? You know you can talk to me" She massaged his hand with her thumb and saw those blue eyes lock contact with hers.
"Well we've been together for a while now and well, whilst I wasnt sure at first, this has been the first thing I am truely sure of since I left the academy and started working on the Vesuvius." he paused. "I had never really thought of settling down or anything as I was always surrounded with beautiful women and I had fun. I er, well I enjoyed being the unattatched young man and having no responsibilities. Erm, people change however" *cough* He cleared his throat and continued. "When Seliv died I felt very protective towards you. After a while I realised that my feelings towards you had changed somewhat, although god knows I tried so hard to surpress it. But on the holodeck, that obviously all changed and our innermost feelings came out. Since then I've come to realise how much you really mean to me and how much I love you"
Sonak saw tears begin to form in the corners of his eyes. He swallowed a couple of times and took a sip of water. He then stood up and put both hands in his chino pockets.
"In the last couple of months my feelings for you have grown deeper and deeper. I now feel that I cannot possibly live without you. I feel that I have met my soulmate - the person that I am destined to spend all eternity with"
He walked around towards her side of the table and slowly dropped down on one knee, taking her hand in his.
"My darling Sonak, I would be most honoured if you would agree to spend the rest of your life with me. I would walk to Mercury and back to make you happy, would lay down my life for you and give my all just to know that you would be mine."
Sonak swallowed hard - was this really happening?! She looked into those eyes that were now filling with more tears by the second and didnt doubt that she was dreaming this time.
"I love you so much" he said, sniffing slightly. He took his hand from his right pocket and pulled out a small navy coloured velvet box. As he opened the box to reveal his grandmothers diamond engagement ring, he uttered the words that Sonak had thought she would never hear him say.
"Sonak, my darling. Would you marry me?"

"So how many of you are there down here?" Jason asked.
Mareen scowled, "Don't try to pretend you haven't already scanned the surface and found out. I don't have time to make 'polite conversation'."
"Fine, fine." He tried to concentrate. "Actually, I really don't know. See I kind of lost the briefing thing and... oops, okay, please don't tell anyone."
A pleading look appeared across his face, going nicely with the panicking look he'd been carrying for quite a while. Why he'd been told to work with this woman he had no idea. Surely with her being in charge, L'Ola should have been here, especially since they seemed to know each other.
L'Ola checked her tricorder. "Looks like the information Mareen gave us was right. The younger children are all dotted around here." She desperately didn't want to turn to look at Daniel because she knew if she did she'd...
"How do you know each other?"
*Shouldn't have turned round, shouldn't have turned round.* "Oh, umm, she's one of my big sisters from af1."
Daniel looked confused, "af1?"
"Adoptive family 1. It's easier to remember who goes with who that way. Especially with all the Klingons."
"Are you trying to change the subject?"
"Yup, is it working?"
"No."
"Oh well." L'Ola shrugged, "We have work to do anyway." She sprinted off to one of the tents before he could say any more.

Sparks flew in a veritable cascade over the crew. Monitors flickered and the lights dimmed. A crewman rushed to an aft station with an extinguisher to put out a fire.
"Report!!" Nick yelled pulling himself out from undernieth a fallen ceiling panel.
"The DY exploded. Her hull integrity couldn't hold up to our tractor beam." The opps officer reported.
"Gorn ship is down, as is one of the Andorians," that instant a section of the DY impacted the second Andorian, "Make that both Andorian ships are out. Romulan is coming around for another pass. The D7 is heading to the planet."
"Status?" Nick asked.
"Hull breaches on multiple decks. Shields and weapons on the lower half of the ship are offline. We're leaking coolent and warp drive is offline."
=/\=Bridge what the hell just happened? My engine room is a mess!=/\=
"We just had a hickup in plans. Bridge out." He hit the comm cutting off engineering. "Hail the Romulan ship."
Seconds later an image of a rather tall alien filled the screen. He wore similar armor to Sangheili, only his was tinted gold.
=/\=Prepared to surrender human!?=/\= Kordumir demanded.
"Surrender, no. Talk cease fire and peace, yes."
The alien sat back in his chair and raised a hand. The tactical officer reported that the Romulan had stopped.
=/\=I'm listening human. I do not have much patience however so speak quickly.=/\=
"We'll release our prisoners back to you. Our mission is one purely of exploration and peace, not conflict and conquest. If this system is in conflict with your borders we can arange some sort of deal. Let us contact our government for an ambassador and put this behind us."
Nick raised a hand for the mute.
"Where're they now?" he asked the opps officer.
"Romulan is poised to fire at our underside. Tertiary is almost in range."
"Reopen communications. Captain it is obvious you have the advantage over my small ship. I suggest you stand down and allow a meeting. Our re-enforcements are on the way so I suggest that we work quickly."
~~
Kordumir looked back at his tactical officer who just shrugged.
"I'm detecting no ships in system or out. I think they're bluffing."
Kordumir frowned, this didn't seem right some how.
"Superior One a ship is decloaking. It's much larger than the other. Much more weapons." The tactical officer reported with panic. Kordumir looked back at the viewscreen. The human had a large smile across his face.
"Very well human. We will talk."
*/-\*Good. Stand down and we'll beam your crew over.*/-\*

Sonak had enjoyed her day off with Jatan, and had been greatly surprised at the effort he had gone through. The restaurant had been the top of the day, and she was pleased to find the air in the restaurant warm and dry.
Her long dress flowed around her legs as she walked beside Jatan to their table, and the waiter - Guan - spoke his flattering words. She had sensed something else was occupying her lover, but she had resolved herself not to ask him. Only then did he begin his speech, and her amazement grew when he suddenlt knelt before her and produced a velvet box.
She sat stunned as he spoke the long expected words, the words she had so dearly hoped to hear him speak, which he had spoken so often in her dreams. She looked down at him and swallowd, her mouth suddenly having gone dry. "Yes," she finally said, her voice barely more than a whisper, "yes, yes I will marry you, more than anything in the universe do I want to!"
Her voice broke as she lost all careful control of her emotions, and tears streamed down her face as she pulled him to his feet and kissed him. "I had known you would ask," she confessed, "but I never knew when, or how...never dreamed it would be this romantic." She kissed him again, then held on to him. "When will we announce this?"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
On the outpost, T'Rhan was aware of people trudging through the empty corridors, he heard their footsteps echo. The air was growing thinner by the minute, and it was becoming increasingly harder to breathe and focus his mind. "Who is there!" he cried with all his might, and suppressed a scream of pain. The Romulan knew he had lost a lot of blood, and if help didn't come soon, he'd die. ~Mareen my love, I've never told you~ he thought, thinking of the beautiful Klingon scientist ~everything is going to change if I survive this, I promise you. But I must survive first....~
His vision was clouding over, and the last thing he saw before losing consciousness again were the worried eyes on a human face.

<Bridge> Fox sat in his chair at the helm console when L'Ola and the security officers were beamen near the tents they had seen on their scans.
Tabbing a few buttons on the console he made sure they the module was ready for liftoff again.
<Transporter room> The transporter room was very crowded with officers due to the evacuation. The transporter chief kept beaming scientists onboard. Everytime a group of scientists arrived one of the officers walked over to the transporter platform and leaded the arrived people out of the room to another place. Same counted for Marc.
Again a blue glow appeared on the platform and a new group of scientists appeared. Marc walked to them.
"Greetings, I'm Marc, if u'd like to follow me." He said.
Everyone in the group nodded.
"This way." Marc said, leading the group out of the transporter room.
After a short walk through the corridors of the module they arrived at the messhall. The hall was very crowded already. Marc spotted a free table, pointed to it. "Shall we sit there?" he asked. Again the scientists nodded and all took place at the table.

He looked up expectantly and after what seemed an age she said....YES!!! Jatan's heart skipped a beat and then he burst into tears agin.
"I promise I will make you the happiest woman alive" he said, taking the ring from it's box and slipping it on her ring finger. She looked at it admiringly and then swept him up to her, and kissed him. They broke away and she stroked his hair.
"I cant believe you are giving me your Grandmother's ring" she said, before hugging him again.
"I had known you would ask," she confessed, "but I never knew when, or how...never dreamed it would be this romantic." she added.
"Well it erm, took a lot of planning" he replied softly, hugging her tightly. "But it was most definitely worth it"
"When will we announce this?" she asked.
"I dont know...do you wish to tell them when we get back to the ship...or is it better to leave it for now?" he asked, his face wrinkled in thought. "After all if we are being attacked I think that it might be detrimental to the efforts of the crew at this time"
She nodded in agreement, sitting back down as the shock and surprise was beginning to have an effect on her legs.
"I still cant believe it" she said, shaking her head gently, and taking a sip from her wine. "There will be so much to organise....Do you have a best man in mind?" she asked, expecting the answer to be Nick.
Jatan turned slightly red and looked a little sheepish. "well, I have already got him to agree to it...well, it will be Chris..." he said, trailing off, wondering what she would say.

She nodded in agreement. "Yes, the two of you go back a long way," she said, "and you two have been through a lot together as well. I am thinking, the children could be bride's maids and page's. I would like the entire crew to be involved in this somehow. How about Admiral Elron as the Ceremony Master?"
Jatan nodded in agreement. "Will your parents make it, you think?"
She shook her head. "They will be too busy with their practice on Earth. But I can contact my brothers. I suppose Admiral MC could act as 'father of the bride' if he is willing that is." She paused, then smiled again. "But we will also bond in the Vulcan tradition?" she suddenly asked, "even though we share an emotional bond, it is nothing like the marriage bond."
Dinner arrived and both remained silent for a long moment. "I think we should at least tell Nick," Sonak finally said, stabbing at her salad with her fork, "he will soon sense it anyway, with the both of us excited and happy." She smiled as music started to play and Jatan held out his hand to her. She got up and he led her to the dance floor.
~hours later~
Sonak woke up feeling more refreshed than she had ever before, but also more tired. The night before had been late, but eventful. Jatan had already gotten up and headed for sickbay, leaving her to sleep in. She sat up and flexed her limbs, then got up and dressed herself.
"Sonak to Ensign McVaye, please report to my quarters as soon as possible." She called as she walked over to the kitchen. To her surprise, a complete English breakfast was waiting for her. She smiled as she picked up the tray and walked it back to the living area.
When the young counselor walked in, she beckoned him to take a seat. "Doctor Reckus would like you to give me a psychological evaluation. According to him, I am physically able to return to duty, but he wishes your approval as well."
<McVaye>
Between waiting for McVaye and eating her breakfast, Sonak activated her computer and began composing a message to her best friend MC7of9. She thought that with their swift departure from Bellicose, he might actually be worried about her.
Dear MC7,
I am terribly sorry about our swift departure from Bellicose, but an emergency has come up. Unfortunately, I am still under orders not to return to duty, but Jatan has informed me that if the counselor agrees to his assessment, I may return to duty by the next shift. My condition has improved greatly, and I have some news to share with you.
She paused for a moment, smiled and continued writing.
Last night, Jatan has asked me to marry him, and I have accepted his proposal. This may sound very unVulcan to you, but currently I believe myself to be the happiest woman in the universe. I have a favour to ask of you though. My parents are too old to take the long travel from Earth, even though both my brothers will possibly attend. I would like you to take on the role as father of the bride in this instance. As my trusted friend, I would have no other take on this role. Would you accept?
I am awaiting your answer, but it may be a while until I can respond to it. We have an emergency situation and we are under attack.
Regards,
Sonak

''They tricked us,'' Kordumir grined, ''and they will pay for that!''
Nick's face'd just left their viewscreen.
*/-\* This is Kordumir, listen up you maggots, these 'humans' are beaming us over, Nephis, arm yourself and the Grinders with a BESA, our ship may be old, but our weapons are not, their sensors will not be able to measure the existence of a bio-engineered-sidearm, make sure they are concealed. */-\*
*/-\* Roger roger, BESAs it is! */-\* Squeeked Nephis.
Two minutes later the blue of the Vesuvius's transporters took Kordumir and his crew awau from their Romulan ship.
The aliens were greeted by a dozen security guards pointing phaser rifles in their direction.
''I am commander Martens,'' Nick said stepping towards Kordumir, eventhough the alien towered above him, ''are they armed?''
''No sir,'' the man behind the transporter console said.
''You played a foul trick 'human','' Kordumir growled, ''have you no honour?''
''Honour?'' Nick was suprised, ''you tried to backstab us and you're lecturing me about honour?''
Kordumir showed his sloped, partially black teeth, but didn't respond.
''Why don't we move ourselves?'' Nick said rhetorically, ''you first.''
The security officers motioned the aliens toward the door. There were fifteen in total, including Kordumir, who had to duck slightly to avoid his head from bumping against the ceiling.
In the brig the aliens were divided over three cells, and Kordumir was taken to talk to Martens.
Ridiculous human, Kordumir thought as he was led into a small room with a desk in the middle.
''We'll be right outside sir,'' one of the security officers said to commander Martens, who nodded.
Nick settled opposite Kordumir, who glared at him angrily. Carefully clutching the phaser rifle in his hand Nick examined the strange, tall being in front of him.
What are you looking at? Kordumir thought. He felt at his belt, and the BESA, designed to blend in, was still safely positioned there. Kordumir smiled at Martens. Stupid human, you're going to die...
***
McVaye eyed commander Kanz as she more than obviously tried not to make eye contact.
To bad L'Ola, this time you're mine, Daniel thought smiling in her direction.
She'd just ran off, but Daniel'd already made a mental note. Inquire commander Kanz about AF1 and about the Klingon woman.
Daniel decided to follow her, and managed to catch up. ''Relax L'Ola, we will have a conversation, but not now, so don't try to avoid me or something, just clear your mind and focus on what's at hand,'' Daniel said between taking breaths.
L'Ola didn't react immediately, but Daniel was sure she'd heard him.
Together they gathered the children, and managed to get them safely to the rendezvous-point. L'Ola was still a little jumpy, but appeared to have her head at the task at hand.
***
''Listen up scum,'' Nephis croaked at the three Grinders and the bridge grunt in his cell. ''Once these filthy humans remove the forcefield we make our move.''
The bridge grunt didn't understand. ''Whattar ya talkin about?'' it asked nervously.
Nephis didn't respond, the Grinders'd understood, and that was what's important.
The BESA was their best weapon. No sensors could pick it up, it blended in with the user when static, and the ammunition dissolved once it'd done it's damage.
Nephis smiled, and the three Grinders forced themselves to do the same. In many raids Nephis had led them, and they had failed only little. They trusted their leader, followed his guidance, and obeyed his commands.
Nephis eyed the movement on the other side of the forcefield.
Nothing yet, he thought. But they will come.

=/\= Sonak to Ensign McVaye, please report to my quarters as soon as possible. =/\=
Daniel jumped, causing him to crash out of bed. Oh no! I'm late for duty.
=/\= I- I'll be there ASAP, McVaye out. =/\=
His head hurt, and Daniel encoutered difficulty regaining his bearings. I much have inhaled some intoxicating chemicals down on that planet, he thought trying to ignore the throbbing in his head.
Like a zombie Daniel put his head onder a current of cold water in the bathroom, before he donned his uniform and began making his way to the commodore's quarters.
He entered and found Sonak on a couch.
"Doctor Reckus would like you to give me a psychological evaluation. According to him, I am physically able to return to duty, but he wishes your approval as well," she said after motioning to him to take a seat.
''Yeah, right, okay, very well,'' Daniel answered vaguely. ''Are you okay ensign? You look a little pale,'' Sonak asked, ''and you forgot your pip.''
''My pip?'' Daniel grabbed for his collar and found the commodore being correct. ''Oops.'' He looked at Sonak. ''I'm fine, I just had a bad night I gues, but that's not what I'm here for.'' Subtle change of subject Dan, Daniel thought to himself.
''Evaluating our conversations and seeing you now makes me agree with doctor Reckus. You may return to duty tomorrow.''
''Actually I hoped to return to-'' ''Day?'' Daniel finished. ''Consider this your psychologic preperance day,'' Daniel said.
Sonak gave him a strange look. Good choice of vocabulary, Daniel sighed to himself.
''Today you do not return for duty, but prepare for it. You've been out for almost a week, so now you need to mentally prepare for the stress of duty again, that will take place today,'' Daniel said.
''Alright,'' Sonak said, a bit disappointed, though understanding. ''Thank you counsellor.''
''No problem,'' Daniel said, ''anything else?''

Sonak smiled brightly as she patted his shoulder; she was currently in a very good mood and she didn't feel like even trying to control her emotions. "No counselor, that was all for now. Thank you." She dismissed him, finished her breakfast, and went to put on a uniform. Feeling ever so much refreshed, she found her way to the bridge of the secondary module, only to find L'Ola absent.
~of course, she is on the planet, gathering the evacuees from the station~ she thought, as she seated herself. "Mr Yh'hea, get me Commander Martens on the primary module," she ordered.
"Yes ma'am, the operations officer replied, "Mr Martens on stand by."
"Mr Martens, report," Sonak said, "do you need assistance?"

Nephi turned away from the consoles. "Lets do a complete search of the outpost. We'll check out everything wrong and we'll be able to make sure there's no one here."
Leavitts turned to him. "But Lt, sensors indicated that theres no one here. Why do we need to search?"
"Because this asteroid has a small iron core That would produce a magnetic field that interferes with sensors. We can only scan so far. Thus we must do a full search."
"Why would anyone build an outpost on this asteroid then, if that was a problem?"
"Because its also the biggest asteroid in this system. Anyway, lets get going."
They left the Control Center and went down the corridor. Nephi could feel the air getting thinner. We can't survive here very long, he thought.
Suddenly, there was a weak shout from down the hallway. "Who is there!"
Nephi turned to Leavitts. "See what I mean?" he said as he went forward towards the voice. Nephi shined the light forward. There on the ground was a Romulan covered in green blood, only semi-conscious. When Nephi reached him, he opened his eyes, looked at Nephi, but then went unconscious. Nephi pulled out his tricorder and scanned him. It wasnt a medical tricorder, but it wont tell him what he wanted to know.
"He's losing blood, and is suffering from carbon-dioxide poisioning. We have to get him back to the ship, along with ourselves. We can't survive in this. We'll have to return with environmental suits to continue the work." He tapped his comm-badge. =/\= Jacobson to Vesuvius. 6 to beam directly to Sickbay =/\=
They rematerialized in Sickbay. Caldwell came over. "What happened?" he asked as he started scanning the Romulan.
"We found him on the outpost. He was bleeding, and suffering do to the thin air. We brought him here, and are going to return to the outpost in environmental suits. Take care of him for me."
Caldwell nodded, and the away team left Sickbay. They went to a storage locker were environmental suits were kept. After everything was on and hooked up. They beamed back over.
"Alright, lets try this again," Nephi said as they resumed work.

~~ hours later, after her duty shift has ended ~~
Everything was in order, the two cups containing a Vulcan herbal tea were waiting on the table and Sonak had gone to dress herself. Moments later she returned from her bathroom, wearing a simple loose fitting and elegant dark green dress. She looked her living area over again, and settled on the couch; in a few minutes Jatan would be arriving and they would perform the bonding ceremony.
Jatan had left sickbay early to do some focusing exercises and to ease his nervousness. They had arranged the Vulcan ceremony sooner as it was a private ceremony and didnt need too much in the way of co-ordination or organisation. He stepped into the shower and spent the time reflecting. It was no good; the butterflies in his stomach were perfoming to olympic standards a gymnastic routine.
He got dried and selected his attire for the ceremony - a cotton collarless white shirt and dark blue trousers. He looked at himself in the mirror and sighed. "You can do this" he said to his reflection and smiled. He left his quarters and headed towards Sonak's. He got to the door and pressed the chime.
"Come!" Sonak called, and looked her fiancΓ© over as he entered, then nodded in approval. "You are looking good," she said, as she offered him the cup. "Assuming you are nervous, this will help you relax." She smiled as he sat down beside her and drank from the cup, then lifted her own cup and sipped the tea. "Are you ready?"
He entered when beckoned and walked into Sonak's living area. She complimented him on his outfit. "You're looking good too darling" he replied. He took the cup from her and and sat down beside her. He began to sip from the cup, but he was too nervous to care whether it was tea or arsenic...his butterflies were distracting him slightly. Sonak asked him if he was ready. "As ready as I can be"
She nodded and set down her cup, then took Jatan's as well. "I am going to initiate a deep mindmeld," she explained, "it may feel a little uncomfortabe and intrusive at first, but the effect will last a lifetime and will not hurt you. You must place your hand on my face in similar fashion, the mind meld will go both ways."
She leaned forward and gently placed her fingers on the katra points on his face. "My mind to your mind...." she whispered, and entered his mind. His whole life came flashing by:
Sonak saw events that even Jatan had let go from his subconscious and memories that he either didnt remember or didnt want to anymore. She saw him after his birth, his birthdays, his daredevil antics on his bike that had caused him to break limbs at various points, she saw him leave school and the joy of passing exams. Then came his Uni days; the lectures, discos, drinking competitions, old flames and friends. The first job and days spent at the Royal London Hospital. Then came his interview for Starfleet and his admittance to the academy. She recognised many of the people that had taught him and saw then his graduation; and transfer to the Vesuvius, all the past missions and then it slowed to the memories from the last few months....
Then the meld reversed itself and she felt him enter her mind, and in return he witnessed most of her life:
He saw her being evacuated from the USS Poseidon, her adoption by the Van Breughels, her years at the primary and secondary school. He witnessed the most horrid events when she attended those schools. Then more happy years followed; her attendance at medical school, her marriage to Seliv. Her first command and the birth of the first twins. He witnessed past missions from her perspective....
Then the meld disolved, and she looked at his eyes and saw surprise and anguish in his eyes. She removed her hand from his face. "It is done," she said softly, pleased to find an echo of his mind at the back of her own.
It was a wierd experience for him. To see somebody else's experiences and emotions and to have them burnt into your mind was certainly a strage thing. She removed her hands from his face and informed him that it was finished. "Are you OK?" she asked him. "I'm fine" he replied, rubbing the back of his head. "It was just a bit overwhelming, thats all" he added. "Is that it, or is there any more?"
She shook her head. "This was the bonding ceremony, all that we require now is for someone to verify that it indeed exists. Nick will most likely be able to verify it as he is a telepath also. This bond will last for the rest of our lives, we will always be aware of one another." She paused for a moment, her expression becoming pained for a moment. "This feels different than my bond to Seliv," she said, then smiled softly, "there is more warmth...." Her smile brightened. "It fills up the void, and more.....this feels like an extension of my own soul, a half mind completed by it's counterpart."
He smiled. "Well it's nice to hear that. Maybe cos my emotions arent in check you feel this way?" She shrugged. "I'm not sure, that might be it, yes" So, how will Nick check this bond then, is there a special way of doing so?"
"He will know," she said, "otherwise he will have to mindmeld with us." She snuggled up against him. "So how does it feel to you, to be bonded? To be mentally linked to someone forever?"
"It gives me an insight into you that I have never had before," she said, twisting to look up at him, and smiled, "you never told me you were such a daredevil." She poked his ribs playfully and leaned into him again, then sighed. "You know I will assume your name right?" she finally asked, "but what of my children?"
"Yeah well...." he began but started laughing as she poked him which tickled immensely. "I was just your average kid, if someone dared me to do something then you can bet I'd usually do it!!" She laughed. "well that's certainly more believable now" she replied. "It was nice to see what your folks looked like too" she added. She then asked about names. "Well it would be an honour for you to take my name" he replied. "It's customary certainly for humans to take each other's names but i was never sure about other species and cultures" . "As for the kids, well I dont know how you would feel about this...." he trailed off, wondering if what he was requesting was too much. "Please, carry on" "Well, I would be honoured if you would consider me legally adopting all four of them" he said finally.
"That I would my love," she said instantly, "the youngest already see you as their father, and the eldest will gladly call you father. Oh yes I would be very pleased if you would adopt them." In response, she kissed him. "We should get some sleep," she said finally, "tomorrow is going to be a busy day, we have a planet to evacuate. But tonight, we shall be together, alone."
Reckus smiled and felt proud of her response,although he had always looked on the youngest two like he would his own. "I just worry that it would affect the older two more - starting to call me Dad might be a bit wierd for them?" She smiled back at him, whilst getting ready for bed. "I wouldnt worry love, I think they are slightly jealous of the little ones getting to call you Dad" she replied.
"hmmm maybe" he said, slipping his trousers off and putting them on the chair. "But I promise that I will uphold Seliv's memory as best I can" Sonak looked at him "I know you will, thats not even a concern for me" she replied and blew him a kiss as she got into bed. He got in next to her and held her tightly, still feeling overwhelmed but extremely happy.
The both of them fell asleep instantly, exhausted by tonight's events.

=/\= Bridge to Commander Martens=/\= the comms officer said. He gave a sideways glance at Kordumir and stepped over to the viewer.
"Martens here," he activated the panel.
=/\= It's the Commodore for you sir.=/\=
"Put her through," he smirked at the fact that Sonak was back on duty.
=/\=Mr Martens, report,=/\= Sonak said, =/\=do you need assistance?=/\=
"Negative Ma'am. So far we've got the situation under control. I'm in negotiations with the Ardaran fleet commander Kordumir."
=/\= Very good Commander.=/\=
"Any news of the science team?" He asked curiously.
=/\=L'Olas got teams out doing search and rescue. So far most of the team is alive=/\=
"Good to hear. I'll keep you up to date with the situation over here. Martens out." He turned back to face Kordumir who was now standing pointing some sort of device at him.
"Foolish human," he said and discharged the device.
~~~
Dak and Jazz stood nervously guarding the grunts from the Romulan ship. The burly Klingon thumbed the rifle safty on and off and the lean Orion leaned against the wall watching the grunts chatter.
"Those little greebs keep whispering amongst themselves. They're up to something," Dak said, his Klingon intuition kicking in.
"They won't get far," She said softly. She held up her tricorder which had a readout of the area. It showed that she'd erected a forcefield around them.
"Good," he said relaxing his grip a little.
~~brig~~
Nick stood up after being knocked back by the blast from the weapon. Kordumir looked at the weapon and then to Nick in disbelief. A large scorch mark was visible on the officers shoulder. The flesh beneath had burned and blistered to the bone, yet the human still stood and was alive.
"Just a note for you," Nick said taking a few steps closer to the shocked alien, "I'm not a human." He pulled out his phaser pistol and delivered a stun bolt to the aliens head. Kordumir collapsed to the ground unconcious. Nick picked up the weapon and handed it to a guard who rushed in after hearing gunfire.
"Scan the others for similar objects." He ordered. The guard gave a weak 'yes sir' seeing Nicks shoulder all scorched and blistered. "I'll be in sickbay. Notify me when he's awake."
Sonak smiled to herself; it felt good to be back on duty, though McVaye would probably have a fit if he would figure it out. She had taken to understand him that he agreed with Jatans assessment of her health, but now she realised he may not quite have done that.
She shrugged to herself, ignoring the glances crew around her were giving her. "Sonak to away team, what is your status?" she called. She knew L'Ola had taken a large team out into the desert to track down Pegasus evacuees and bring them to the safety of the secondary module.
She glanced at the main screen and instinctively flinched at the sight of so much sand; it brought up memories she would rather forget. ~not such a good idea, getting an image of the planet on screen~ she thought, but there was nothing else to look at. ~get over it~ she chided herself ~your native planet is a desert, the planet your biological parents were born.~
"Yes but my parents are human," she whispered to herself, then shook her head. She was still waiting for L'Ola to respond.
"Sonak to Meylor, what is the status of the tertiary module? Did everyone who was left behind on Pegasus get evacuated?" She dearly hoped that everyone was evacuated; the reports she had received on Pegasus were less than hopeful.
She settled back in her chair and gratefully accepted a mug of tea a crewman offered her. In the back of her mind, she felt Jatan's presence offering comfort to her earlier thoughts. ~that reminds me, I will have to inform Admiral Elron soon~ she thought ~I am looking forward to his surprised reaction.~
"All the families are on board and we're about to beam up with the last science team now." L'Ola reported.
"Understood." Sonak turned to the officer at the Ops station, "As soon as they are on board, prepare for rendez-vous with the tertiary module."
Katia sighed; it had felt like a very long shift. But the fact that she had to go back to her quarters now made it suddenly seem not long enough. She checked through the data again, desperate to find some reason to stay on even for just half an hour.
The door opened. Before Katia could look round it had closed again and someone had started talking. "Computer, lock this door and open only on my authorisation."
"Door locked."
"What the...? Oh hi, haven't seen you in a few days."
L'Ola seemed concerned, "I know, in fact the last time we spoke was before you got signed off duty. So are you going to tell me what's been going on or do I have to start guessing?"
*Deep breath, deep breath* "In a nutshell? I had a bit of a surprise." She smiled for a second, "I'm pregnant."
"Really? That's great." She paused, "Isn't it?"
Katia looked at her directly, "Under normal circumstances, maybe, but, umm..." She lost her composure and looked as if she would burst into tears any second.
*Oops* L'Ola put her arm around her, "I'm sorry, you don't have to tell me if you don't want."
"No, I need to tell someone. You see... it's not James'..."
"But, then, who?" She didn't understand. What had happened? She got her answer by the look Katia gave.
"I think you can work that out. I talked it over with James and he didn't react too badly."
"That's good. Computer, unlock the door. You can go if you want, your shift should be over in a couple of minutes anyway."
Katia gave a half-hearted smile, "Could take me a while to get to my quarters. I always get lost when the modules separate." She got up and went to leave. Just before she went through the door she turned round. "Oh, if you need to contact me at all, my name IS officially changing back to Katia Amasova." She turned back and made it half way down the corridor before she started crying.
L'Ola was still in a state of shock. Although it did explain a lot of things. In fact, it solved every mystery from the last couple of months. She sighed as she thought of all the other things she was supposed to be doing. She started to sift through reports that Jason had left her for when she got back.
The door opened, and she half expected Jason to walk in the way things were turning out. Unfortunately, it was someone else she wasn't all that keen on talking to...
"Hey, Gagh-brains, I'm looking for the Chief Science Officer."
"You found her."
Mareen sneered, "You? So you don't normally lead away missions then?"
"Nope, that was just bad luck. So what do you need?" L'Ola desperately wanted to get things over and done with as soon as possible.
"We need to set up a temporary science base on your ship. We therefore require the use of your labs."
"Okay, Jason can sort that for you. Kanz to Carter, get yourself down to Astrometrics now."
=/\= Yes SIR! Carter out =/\=
"He will no doubt get lost on the way down here."
L'Ola couldn't help smiling, "That's not entirely inaccurate, although I don't think he's tried that one yet." The smile disappeared. "Look, I have to go sort some stuff out. Jason will be here in a minute, until then, make yourself at home." She made it all the way to the turbolift before someone else called.
When at last every Pegasus evacuee was aboard, Sonak ordered the helmsman to set course back to space and rendezvous with the tertiary module. Meylor had reported earlier that they had received some severely injured scientists, one of which had a slim survival rate.
While Sonak trusted Caldwell completely, she preferred to have Jatan on the job. "Bridge to Doctor Reckus, prepare to be beamed directly to the tertiary sickbay post haste," she called, as she ship vibrated slightly as the passed Hades' atmosphere. Then the reddish sky was replaced by the velved star speckled colour of space.
"Sonak to Meylor, are there any more survivors aboard the outpost?"
The face of the Bajoran COO appeared on the main screen and shook his head solemnly. "No ma'am not that we know of. If there are, I hope the Prophets are with them and that they will hang on just a little longer until Mr Jacobson and his engineering/security team have completed their sweep of the outpost."
"I will try to establish contact with Jacobson himself then. Prepare to receive Doctor Reckus, we are beaming him directly to your sickbay."
Meylor nodded and signed off.
"Sonak to away team on Pegasus, report."
