"Mareen to Kanz" She had to contact the woman, but refused to acknowledge that she held any rank. "We require assistance in Medical Lab 2."
=/\= On my way. Kanz out. =/\=
"Idiot girl, why I should have to work through her is anyone's guess. There's no justice at all." she muttered under her breath.
One of the other scientists walked over to her, "A few of our people have been sent to the sickbay to be checked over, but all the other scientists are in one of the three labs we have access to."
Mareen looked at the data she had been given. "What of the families we took with us?"
"All of them are being looked after sufficiently. I just wish we knew what happened to everyone we left behind."
"No doubt we will find out in due time."
L'Ola walked to the medical lab in more than a little bit of a bad mood. She had better things to do with her time than run around after people she'd spent years learning to avoid.
"Hi. What did you need?"
"I require more information about the current situation. There were scientists still left on the station... Also it would be useful to have some of your science officers to help us with our work as we are unfamiliar with some of your systems." Mareen managed to sound polite, but with the definite implication that if she didn't get her way there would be trouble.
"I'm not sure how many I can spare you." L'Ola replied, "We're a little short handed right now. I'll get you Kat- oh wait, not a good idea. How about Ed Tanner and Jamie Collins? They both have experience with the technology" *And Jamie's still so nervous there won't be any difference in performance* she added silently.
Mareen glanced at the person next to her, who nodded. "That will be acceptable. Now, for the information...?"
"Follow me."
The journey happened in absolute silence. Everytime L'Ola thought of something to say she decided it was stupid. So they reached the bridge without a word.
"Commodore, allow me to introduce Mareen. She's in charge of the scientists we brought on board."

Sonak ordered the helmsman to set course back to space and rendezvous with the tertiary module. As Sonak gave the order to leave the helmsman spinned around his chair and tabbed some buttons on his console. A moment later the lower thrusters of the module started causing a small sandstorm outside. Leaving a good visible spot where the ship stood a little while ago. After they'd gotten enough altitude the helmsman looked back at Sonak and said. "Swithing to impulse engines." Receiving an affimative nod from Sonak he turned around again and activated the engines. Not much later they entered the atmosphere with made the module shake a bit. As soon as they had left the atmostphere behind the shaking stopped and the helmsman laid in the course for the tertiary module.

Sonak looked up as L'Ola entered the bridge with a glum looking Klingon female in tow. She got up from her chair, even though she had just made herself comfortable and walked over towards them. "Welcome aboard, I am Commodore Sonak."
"Chief Scientist Mareen of House K'Tarr," the Klingon replied tersely, "Ga-Kanz here has told me that me and my team may use all your science facilities."
Sonak nodded, not missing the contempt in the woman's voice when she spoke her science officer's name. "Commander Kanz is correct in sayig that you may," she replied, stressing the rank, "and you are welcome to use other facilities like the holodeck and the ship's pool as well. We will endeavour to assign you quarters as soon as possible. Do you have any family with you?"
A pained expression crossed the proud woman's face. "I have a...friend...who remained behind on the station to contact you, did he survive?"
"Our away team has found someone, but he was gravely injured. He is in sickbay on our tertiary module, you may visit him when my CMO says it is safe to do so."
~~ engineering, primary module ~~
Kiryak followed O'Malley around, still undetected, until he had learned of the massive ship what he had needed to learn. When they got back in engineering, he picked up the nearest wrench and whacked the poor woman on the head (after he had clambered up on a chair in order to get to the hight of her head). He snickered as the woman fell down with a grunt, and ran out of engineering as fast as his short legs could carry him.
He had now figured out where he could find his comrades, and he made his way to the brig area to free them. There was just one little tiny problem left: the guard.
Kiryak retrieved his energy weapon, got rid of his cloak - but left the sensor mask on - and aimed it at the guard. Surprised, the man groped for his phaser, but was too late; he toppled backwards a large burn still smoking on his chest. "Should've listenend," Kiryark murmured, even though he hadn't spoken a word. "How does this work," he told his comrades, "how do I deactivate that...ah never mind."
He raised his weapon and fired it at the controls, causing them to short out. Excited, his comrades left the cell and Kiryar cuffed them soundly. "Morons," he scolded, "we must hurry, and stay undetected."

(OOC: Warning: I get slightly graphic at one point in this post)
The away team returned to the Station to continue the survey of the facility, both for survivors, and for checking the condition of the Station. This time environmental suits were in place, so the air and temperature were not a problem.
They checked the Station, room by room, noting any problem they could detect. There were ruptured power conduits, fused systems, and half a dozen hull breaches on one end of the Station. If anyone had been in the rooms that had had holes blown in the wall, they weren't there now.
They had one last room to check. Nephi opened the door to it, and was looking out into space through a hole in the wall/ceiling. There was almost no debris in the room because everything was sucked through the breach.
He walked to the center of the room, talking as he turned around. "Well it looks like theres no-one el-"
He stopped at the sight in the corner of the room. The room wasnt completely empty. There, in the corner, was a Klingon male, hold in place by a metal brace that appeared to be wedged into the corner. There was metal sharpnel embedded in his head, with a large piece sticking out his neck, with blood on the sharpnel and him.
Leavitts winced. "Yai. Why didnt the bar get sucked out?"
Nephi stepped closer to the bar. There was metal clumps around the area where the bar contacted the wall. Nephi pulled on it, but it didnt budge. "Thats because it's fused to the wall. The heat from the weapons that caused the breach must have heated the metal enough melt it, and when it hit the wall, it must have cooled and fused, trapping our friend here in the corner. But, it looks like he was already dead by then from the sharpnel, so I don't think that it would have mattered to him."
"Sonak to away team on Pegasus, report."
"Jacobson here, Commodore. To put it simply, this place is a mess. We have a dying power system, a failing environmental system, ruptured conduits, hull breaches, and more. We haven't found anymore survivors, although we did find one body. A Klingon male, killed by sharpnel. I was planning on him beamed to the morgue on the Vesuvius, and then have him returned to the Pegasus' staff when they were able to deal with it. Do you have any specific instructions on what I should do, Commodore? I mean the situation in general, not just the body."

"John knock it off already," Nick winced at the constant prodding John was doing to his shoulder.
"I've got to clean the burn first. I'm amaised you're still functioning after that," John poked the burn and the Commander slightly jumped.
"Not fully funcional. I can't move my arm," he bit back.
"Once I'm done you can have your mobility back," John still teased. Nick sighed and leaned back against the bulkhead behind the biobed.
About half an hour later a guard came sauntering into the ward. He looked around the room for the Commander.
"Over here Lieutenant,' Nick said raising his hand.
"He's awake sir and demanding to be released."
"Very well. I'll be along shortly," He said looking over at Caldwell. John just raised his hands in mock surrender.
"You're done anyways. I'd suggest getting a new uniform though," He said pointing at the blood soaked, scorched uniform shirt. Nick smiled and jumped off the biobed. He rotated his shoulder to see how it moved. ~a little stiff, but stiff is good~
~~~Briefing room~~~
Nick walked into the room with a fresh uniform on and casually took a seat across from Kordumir. The big burly alien had been relieved of most of his armor. He sat there brooding, a slight singe mark on his helmet where Nick's phaser hit him.
"Ready to talk yet?" Nick asked calmly and smoothly.
"You will pay for the actions you have taken against us!" Kordumir demanded and stood full hight. Nick just sat there and stared at the alien.
"So far you're the one whose taken the action. And unless you're willing to face an open war, with a race that can take on a fleet with a single ship, I'd suggest sitting down."
Kordumir stared coldly at the much smaller humaniod and sat down. His hands clenched in balls at his side.
"Alright. We'll talk."
"Thats what I like to hear," Nick said with a satisfied smile. He suddenly felt a couple sequencial shudders vibrate through the deckplating as the other sections rejoined. Kordumir looked puzzled at the vibrations.
"One ship yet three all at once. Indeed your species is one to be respected."
''But then again, repect is not everything. Humans are weak, even one of my grunts could take one down,'' Kordumir said glancing Martens.
''Why did you attack the science station?'' Nick asked.
''Stupid question, human, as I have told you before it was in our territory, as are you.'' Disgusting drops of saliva spat from Kordumir's mouth as the creature spoke.
''Then why attack and not warn the station, give them a chance to evacuate?''
Kordumir's red eyes narrowed. ''You know nothing about us do you? We need to survive, just like you, just like everyone. We have our own ways of doing so.''
''Scavenging.'' ''That would be the foul word for our existence.'' Kordumir eyed the commander carefully. He still couldn't understand why the man had survived his attack. He would have to die, Kordumir had his honour to uphold.
This human must and will die, no-one crosses the path of the Superior One. Me.
Daniel wanderd the corridors of the now reattached Vesuvius. He thought about the events on the planet the other day.
The sun burned in the sky, like a searing hot eye boiling everything that dared face it.
The tricorder in his sweaty hands told Daniel that he was close, though the cave caused to much distortion for the tricorder to properly function.
He stepped into its murky entrance and saw nothing but darkness. ''Hello? Anyone in here?'' he got no response.
Daniel looked over his shoulder and saw commander Kanz leading a group of scientists back towards the Vesuvius. Ah well, the Vesuvius is close, Daniel thought deciding to enter the cave.
He fumbled for the flashlight on his belt and found it, and switched it on. The light that illuminated the cave eerily, but Daniel ignored the goosebumps and ventured forth.
Daniel narrowed his eyes and thought he saw something move in the distance. A shadow'd just shot from left to right. ''Anyone there?'' Daniel called out, moving closer.
The cave hadn't been hewn in a straight of decent manner. Big uncarved pieces of stone made the path to go deeper into the cave more like a maze.
''Aah!'' Daniel was taken by surprise as something had jumped at him.
He toppled backwards and lost grip on his flashlight. ''Leave us alone you alien-scum, leave us alone!'' Daniel heard the person on top of him shout.
''Hey, hey!'' Daniel called, ''I'm here to help you, stop!'' The figure stopped trying to pound his head against the floor. ''I'm here to help you...'' Daniel said softly, regaining his breath.
The creature got of him, and Daniel found his flashlight again. He shoon it at the person that's assaulted him, and was surprised by what he found.
A young, bewildered looking woman sat with her back against a piece of rock, her knees pulled up to her chin, tears soundlessly coming from her eyes.
''Hey,'' Daniel said softly, ''it's okay, I'm going to get you out of here. I'm Daniel.'' The woman looked up to him, and managed a faint smile through her tears. ''I'm Lisa, one of the scientists from Pegasus.''
Daniel gave her a warm smile as he rubbed the back of his head. ''You're a pretty sturdy woman, you really got me by surprised.'' She laughed. ''I'm so sorry, I-'' ''Hey, that's okay, I understand, come I'll get you to the Vesuvius, my ship, ah well, the ship I serve on.''
Daniel helped Lisa to her feet and supported her back to the gathering point where L'Ola was getting the scientists onboard the Vesuvius.
''Here we are,'' Daniel said to Lisa as they had reached the gathering point, just stand over by the others, you'll be taken aboard.'' Lisa nodded. ''Thanks, for saving me.''
Daniel blushed, but nodded and turned to L'Ola. ''I think that was the last one.'' L'Ola nodded. ''Let's get ourselves back aboard.'' ''Yes, by the way L'Ola, I would like you to report to my office tomorrow, say, 1400? Good,'' Daniel said.
He'd visit Lisa later on. For now he needed to find commander Kanz, it was 1413, and Daniel figured that he'd best get her himself.
The doors of the turbolift opened when Daniel arrived. Unsuprised he found commander Kanz talking to the commodore.
''Good afternoon L'Ola, ma'am, how are you today Sonak? Enjoying captaincy again?'' Daniel asked.
<Sonak>
''Miss Kanz, if you would be so kind as to follow me to my office, I believe we have an appointment,'' Daniel said warmly smiling at L'Ola, who seemed to feel caught.
<L'Ola>
Nephis took the liberty of arming himself with the phaser rifle of the fallen security guard. He gave Kiryak a wicked smile. ''Perfect, perfect, perfect!''
''Come on maggots! To freedom!'' Nephis called at his Grinders. ''Hush, stupid maggot-brain!'' Kiryak called, ''or they will find out about our escape.''
Nephis appeared to be deeply offended by Kiryak's words, but decided not to kill him just yet, after all, he had gotten them out of imprisonment.
''Now how does this work?'' Nephis muttered to himself exitingly as he examined the phaser rifle. He yellow, sloped teeth gloomed in his mouth as he smiled, having found the trigger.
Nephis pointed the weapon at one of the, in his eyes, useless grunts that cowered behind a Grinder, and pulled the trigger. ''Warrrk! Why is not it working?'' Nephis called.
Kriyak walked over. ''We have no time for games, we must go, now, we need to find and free the Superior One.''
Without thinking Nephis pulled the safety button on the rifle, still pointing the weapon at the grunt. Angrily Nephis threw the phaser rifle down on the ground.
The force of the impact on the ground was enough to trigger the weapon, and the rifle fired a shot, burning a hole through the stomach of the cowarding grunt.
Immediately red light began to flicker. And eventhough nor Nephis, Kiryak and the Grinders could read that the console displayed *Warning, phaser fire has been detected.* they did know the alarm had been set off.
Kiryak, still clad in his cloaking suit, dashed off with his Grinders in tow. They had to find a place to hide, and soon too, before anyone could detect them. They felt the ship shudder, and Kiryak wondered just what exactly was going on. The other ships were supposed to disable the Federation ship, so that it could be taken as a prize for the Superior One."
~main bridge~
Sonak was relieved to find that the three parts of her ship still fitted together, after all the damage that had been done to the primary module. Yet repairs would have to wait, as the outposts needs were more dire and it had a stragetic point on Federation space, where it could keep an eye on both the Romulans and the Klingons.
Nephi's report had been bad news. "Find out what the name of the Klingon was Mr Jacobson, so that we can notify his family," she replied, "your orders are to repair the station as much as you can. First priority is life suppor and sensors, then its defensive systems. Starfleet has been alerted and they will send an engineering ship as soon as we have cleared the situation. Until then you are to make do with what you have and effect as much of the repairs as you can manage."
Sonak had been pleased to find that the outpost had been led by a Romulan, who was in turn aided by a Klingon, and many species worked together quite well under their guidance. Records had shown her that there were virtually no quarrels on the station, period, and that all species respected one another. She was even more pleased to find records of interspecies marriage, where under normal space circumstances, these species were bitter enemies.
At last she got up from the command chair and beckoned Harper to take over for a while. "I am going to see this Romulan in sickbay," she said, "and after that I have an appointment with Counselor McVaye. You will have command until you are relieved." Harper was very much aware of what had happened on the previous mission, and wished for his commander officer to have as little strain as possible for a while.
She left the bridge and went to sickbay, only to find Caldwell barring her way. A little further away, the Klingon stood fuming at Reckus. "I take it he is not stable enough to tell us what happened?" she asked.
Caldwell shook his head. "He is in a bad shape and lost a lot of blood. Stocks of his blood type are low, and there is no evacuee who carries the same blood type." He paused then checked his PADD. "However, you do ma'am....Vulcan blood is compatible with Romulan blood. Would you..." He trailed off, almost afraid to ask.
Sonak nodded once. "Do it," she said, "I will donate blood, but I cannot stay here afterwards. I have to find Commander Martens, and then I have to see the counselor." Half an hour later, she left sickbay feeling a little drained, as Caldwell had taken a little more than the standard amount of 500ml, but she had agreed he would, otherwise the Romulan would certainly die.
She was unaware of the fact that a cloaked figure had been following her ever since she had left the bridge. At last, she met up with Martens, and was briefed on the current situation. "It seems you are handling it very well commander," she commented, "I will leave the peace talks in your hands, but bear in mind that this system, as well as the station are in Federation territory." At Martens' nod, she left the briefing room and headed for McVaye's office.
Sonak knocked on the door and at the "enter" she went in. "You have not forgotten our appointment have you?" she asked, smiling ever so slightly.
The cloaked figure -Kiryak- entered the office with her, observing the Vulcan woman with interest. He needed to learn if he wanted to take over the ship. Already, his Grinders were working on sabotaging the ship, and they would kill to achieve their goal.
OOC: slightly graphic ahead...
~I will crush you~ Kordumir thought while glaring at the First Officer. Not thinking the inferior being could hear his thoughts. ~I will rip you limb from limb you weak human and after I'm done with you I'll take this ship as mine~
Nicks eyes burned in an equally intense rage. A small smile crept across his mouth. It had been some time since the Tandaran had seen any form of hand to hand combat. The Ardaran obviously didn't realise that he'd just heard every thought projected.
The two locked gazes.
~Unless you're willing to face an open war, in which you'll lose everything, I suggest you actually keep your mind on peace~ Nick thought to the hulking Ardaran soldier. Kordumirs eyes opened wide in shock. There was much more to this scrawny alien than he let on.
"Very well," Kordumir agreed. This human or whatever it was would have to wait for death later.
~~~
The grunts reached the corner of the corridor just outside the weapons locker. Nephis peered around the corner to make sure there wasn't any opposition coming. He waved the Grinders to procede. The six quickly jotted across.
One of the bridge grunts tripped and dropped his phaser. He picked himself up and ran back to retrieve it. Only as he bent over he was cut down by a pulse rifle.
"Got one," Dak confirmed. He watched the unconcious grunt twitch. Jazz just shook her head. One of the other grunts leaned out and fired a couple rounds at the marines.
"Damn it!" Jazz blurted as one blast just missed her head. She fired a couple rounds back at the grunt. She moved into a door way for cover. Dak did the same on the other side of the corridor. They traded rounds with the grinders.
~
Nephis nodded to two of the grunts to keep firing. He then waved his had to the others to follow him. They made their way around to the other side.
~
Dak leaned out to fire off a shot and a round missed his head. A second caught him in the shoulder. He whirled around to see another grunt dodge behind some cover.
"They're behind us," He whispered hoarsly to Jazz. She nodded and pointed to a device on her shoulder. Dak smiled in aknowlegement and pulled a smiliar device off his. In unison the pressed a button on the devices and tossed them at either end of the hall.
~
Nephis watched the small metal device sail through the air and bounce off the wall behind him. It came to rest in the middle of the group. One of the Grinders walked over to it and looked at it curiously. A little light on the top pulsed at first slow but progressivly faster. Nephis' eyes widened.
The device beeped and propelled itself into the air. It hovered, flashed, then exploded in a hail of metal and spikes. Shards embedded themselves into the walls and cieling and the Grunts.
Nephis watched as his grunts slowly cumpled to the ground. He struggled to push himself up off the floor but found his arms weren't working. The ground started turning blueish green around him as his sight failed and he slipped into oblivion.
~
Dak walked over to survey the damage done. Both groups of Grunts had been neutralised and now lay in cumpled heaps on the ground. Jazz walked up behind him, a grim look on her face.
"Too bad. I kinda feel sorry for the little guys," She said.
"Not too sorry," He said tending to his shoulder wound.

Not feeling like she had too much to be happy about at the moment, L'Ola didn't even bother with a fixed smile as she followed Daniel to his office. She felt very weak in being caught so easily. And now she had to be careful to say enough to keep him happy, but not so much that he found a problem to solve.
They sat down, and Daniel tried to offer her a drink. But she glared and made it very clear she wanted to be out of there as soon as possible and never go back. Which made him all the more determined to keep her there.
"So how have things been going lately?"
L'Ola thought for a second. "Okay. I managed to salvage my science department, well the bits that Jason didn't completely destroy."
Daniel hoped that was a sign she was relaxing a little, "Are things going alright with the scientists?"
"Look, let's just get this over with so I can get back to work. I wasn't expecting to see Mareen here, but I'll have to live with it. Shouldn't be too hard, we've always avoided each other. Everything else is going great, apart from the people in my department. And I think Lucy's finally settling in on the Starbase. Now, what exactly was it you wanted to know again?"
<might carry on tomorrow, can't concentrate right now>

~things are going well~ Kiryar thought, as he followed the pointy-eared green-skinned woman around. So far he had learned a lot from just following he around, learning command codes, and his way around the ship. He actually felt sorry for her children, for soon they would be without a mother. ~I'll just give them to one of our females~ he thought, smiling because of his ingenuity.
He had also learned the woman's name, which was even better, because now he could name her in his stories, where he would be the hero who captured the Federation vessel, and killed it's crew. Now was his chance though, she was alone in her office, sitting back seemingly enjoying some hot liquid subsance.
Kiryar watched her from a short distance, contemplating whether he wanted her to see him before she died, of if he didn't. At last he thought he should show himself and he pussyfooted closer. She still didn't seem aware of him.
The opposite was true, however, Sonak was very aware of someone following her around. Her senses were alarming her of someone she could not see, and even though she could not know where exactly he or she was, she could certainly sense his or her presence. She sat back and pretended to enjoy her tea, but her alertness never wavered.
Still she was caught by surprise when the midged decloaked right before her on her desk, a strange weapon pointed straight at her. She didn't know at what setting it was programmed on, but she did know that the midget meant business. She had seen how Kordumir reacted to Martens. Sonak watched Kiryar in silence, waiting for him to move. To be able to shoot adequately, he would be distracted for a short moment.
Kiryar watched the woman with interest, and knew she was ready to move. He had learned to read her bodylanguage over the past few days, and knew when she was alert, and when she was not. He had decloaked, his weapon ready, but it was unfortunate that he hadn't been able to learn more about her physiology, thus he didn't know where would be the best place to hit her in order to kill her.
He aimed, but just as he pressed the trigger she moved. He heard her scream, and knew he had hit her, but before he knew it she had her hands on him, pressing them against his face. He screeched, dropping his weapon and clawing at her hands and face. Nobody had entered his mind before, as everyone knew it was dangerous for his species to do so.
Sonak felt his mind slipping away from her, and knew it was dangerous to stay in a mindmeld with a dying or dead person. For some reason, there wasn't much to learn from his mind, as if everything was stored in some sort of safe, unable to access. ~a failsafe~ she realised, ~we cannot enter their minds to access information. They die if we do, thus information about their species remains hidden~
She hissed as she sat back down in her chair, wondering where exactly he had hit her. While she wondered, she realised it wasn't a major injury, but nonetheless a painful one. Her hands and face showed quite distinctlywere the midget had clawed her.
"Sonak to Martens and Reckus, report to my readyroom." she called, then switched communications channels. "Sonak to security. Sweep the entire ship, there are cloaked people aboard this vessel. Find them and contain them."

(OOC: Sorry for not posting for a while. Life gets in the way sometimes. I'll be doing a little back-posting here)
=/\=Acknowledged, Commodore =/\= Jacobson said heavily. This station was an awful mess. He wasnt even sure where to start. But fortunately the Commodore had provided some direction in that. He bent down next to the Klingon, and scanned the symbols on his belt.
"What are you doing?" Leavitts inquired.
"I'm scanning the writing on his belt. Klingons have their names written on their belt. I'm scanning it and having the tricorder translate it....Ah here we go. This man's name was Vartok. We'll have him beamed up later. Leaving him here will make no difference, since its a vacuum." He stood up and looked around. "I'm going to amend the Commodore's order a bit. To repair anything else, first we'll have to repair the reactor. Let's go."
They went back towards the Control Center, because the reactor was underneath it. They went into the Control Center, and then Nephi headed for a ladder at the side of the room. Leavitts stopped it.
"Hold it. Lieutenant. I'm going down there first."
Nephi motioned for him to go ahead, and Leavitts climbed down. When Leavitts touched the floor, he looked around. After a moment, he waved for the rest to continue down.
Nephi climbed down first. He noticed the rungs bend a little, but didnt think much of it. He reached the bottom safely. Grant climbed down next, then Patterson, each getting down safely. But when the other security guard, a large Andorian named Deravat, climbed down, the ladder buckled. While Deravat was in the very middle, the ladder bowed outward, then broke off from the celing. Deravat came crashing to the floor.
But unfortunately that was the least of their problems. The support the ladder was attached to was stressed by the ladder, and became to come off. That caused a chain reaction throughout the room, causing debris to rain down on the away team. Nephi was caught by a strut at his legs. He went down, and slammed against a wall, but thankfully was not injured, although he couldnt say the same for his suit. His comm array was probably damaged. And they were trapped.
=/\= Jacobson to Vesuvius =/\= The response was static. =/\= Vesuvius, come in. This is Lt Jacobson. We have a problem. We had a structural collapse and we're trapped. Please send help. Do you read? =/\=
(OOC: Please note that the iron in the asteroid will make transporters ineffective as you won't be able to get a target lock because of scanning problems.)

Commander Mark Harper frowned as he saw his commanding officer re-enter the bridge and walk off to her office. ~she should be going home and rest~ he thought, as he was worried about her. She appeared to be well, and in much better mental and physical health than a few weeks before, but Vulcans were masters at keeping up appearances.
Just as he heard a shot fall within the office, followed by screams, a breaking up message from the away team on Pegasus came in. Since he was the only one presently on duty, he was torn between going to the readyroom, and answering the distress call. ~the needs of the many..~ he sighed.
"Mr Jacobson, we read you," he called back, "and help will be with you shortly." He thumped the nearest console. "Transporterroom, get a fix on the away team and beam them out!" he yelled.
"Can't," came the reply, "too much interference, we can't get a clear lock on them and I don't want to risk losing their patterns with so much interference."
"Damn," Mark cursed. "Engineering and sickbay, our away team is in trouble. Get a team over there, yesterday! Be sure to wear EV-suits, there is hardly any air over there. Also, I want medical and security to main bridge on the double!"
As he said that, he ran towards the office and found a small person slumped on the table. At first glance, it looked to be alive but closer examination proved it was dead. His gaze met that of Sonak, and his worry resurfaced. "You all right ma'am?" he asked.
Sonak nodded. "Yes I believe so," she said, but hissed between clenched teeth as she tried to get up. "It seems that I am not," she added, giving him a wry and painful smile, "he aimed a weapon at me, and pulled the trigger. He hit me but I do not know where." She restrained her night time XO as he tried to help her up. "No, do not move me. Movement is painful and it may do more damage than good, considering I do not know what kind of weapon it is that he was using. I have called for security."
"So have I," Harper said, just as a security team and a medical team entered the readyroom.
<Meylor, Jate...you two want to take this one?>

"No High Corporal we did not defeat the Federation ship," Kordumir informed his superior sitting at the table in the Vesuvius observation lounge.
=/\=What!? How did they withstand our fleet!?=/\= The older Ardaran looked quite concerned.
"Their ship is much more formidable than we had anticipated. In truth it was three ships in one. Only one of the three sections was needed to disable 4 of our ships. The crew on the Klingon ship were too cowardly and ran."
=/\=And you allowed yourself to be captured!! How foolish of a commander are you Kordumir? Krilak was wise to run. Now you sit..=/\= Kordumir cut him off, his hands gripping the edge of the table.
"Your eminence I was not captured, nor did I surrender. The Vesuvius wished to negotiate so I agreed temporarily. They took Sangheili and his crew captive. I naturally wished to recover our comrades."
=/\= You are a fool Kordumir. You should have destroyed the Federation ship when you had the chance.=/\=
"It would have made things worse for us eminence. Not only for our fleets but for our people. Not only would we have a much more advanced more advanced race against us," Kordumir took a breath and continued. "Eminence a small fraction of this vessel alone destroyed 4 ships. The Commander of this ship has graciously informed me that this is one of their smaller vessels. They have ships 5 times bigger and with much stronger shields and weapons. It would be pointless to battle such a race."
=/\= And you are telling me this why?=/\=
Nick stepped into the view. The look on the High Corporals face was that of surprise. Kordumir leaned back for a better viewing of the Commander.
"Because we're offering peace. Not only would you be avoiding all out war with us but you'd be ensuring your races continued survival in this sector. I don't think the Klingons and Romulans would be as gracious if in the same situation."
The High Corporal scratched his chin thoughtfully.
=/\=Continue.=/\=
"We propose that you join the Federation. We'll arrange for an Ambassador to be commuted to your planet to hammer out a deal. Once a member we'd be able to help construct systems and put structures in place for the Ardaran people to no longer be scavengers. As well your ships would have access to a vast array of trade systems and travel inside Federation space."
=/\=And the people you have in custody?=/\=
"Released back into the freedom they once knew."
=/\= Very well. I will contact all fleets and inform them that Federation space and stations are not to attaced. Do not send a weak Ambassador, human. He will have to hold his own here on Ardaran.=/\= He flashed his wide grin of crooked teeth.
Nick smiled as well. "Excelent. Thank you for your time High Corporal. Vesuvius Out."
The screen went blank and displayed the symbol of the UFP. Nick turned to a preturbed Kordumir. He put a hand on the shoulder of the big alien.
"I shouldn't have let you live, human. Now I'll be the laughing stock of my people. Defeated in battle and the one who groveled for peace."
"I think once the people realise what a great thing you did for Ardaran they'll worship you as a hero. Now if you'll follow me we'll return you and you comrades back your ship."
~~
Sangheili paced his cell. The moronic grunts forgot to release him in the panic to escape. They surely would pay for their indiscretion. Unkown to him they alread had. A lone bridge grunt from his ship sat in the back of his cell swaying back and forth singing softly.
"Would you stop that already!? I don't know what you grunts find appealing about Klingon songs."
"Sorry Superior One," the grunt apologised and continued in swaying in silence. A short time later a human command officer and a security team arrived. Behind them stood the tall, blue form of Kordumir.
"Kordumir, what are you doing here," Sangheili asked surprised at the arrival.
"You are free to go Sangheili. The humans are on our side now." The forcefield lowered and Sangheili and the grunt stepped out.
"And the Grinders?" Sangheili asked.
"Disposed of. The fools couldn't even wait for my orders. That idiot Nephis took on a Klingon and Orion Marine."
"Why am I not surprised," The grunt burst out. Sangheili raised an eyebrow.
"What? Nephis has been an idiot since childhood. He took on a Thrangor beast when we were gruntlings. Lucky he was, only recieved some scratches." The grunt finished, he shook his head and walked out into the corridor. Kordumir and Sangheili followed. Soon they reached the transporter room.
"I hope to meet up with you again soon Commander. Only not on the field of battle." He extended a hand to the smaller being.
Nick took hold and shook. He smiled at the big alien. "Same here Kordumir."
The three aliens stepped up onto the transported padd and the chief energised them to their ship. Nick shook his head and stepped back out into the corridor.
~time to head back to the bridge~ he thought to himself.
~bridge~
"Romulan ship breaking orbit and heading to warp Ma'am." The opps officer reported. Nick stepped out of the turbolift and took his seat next to Sonak.
"And?" She asked in an open ended way.
"Peace. I've contacted Starfleet to send a representative to Ardaran. Seems the prospect of racial survival was more important than this system to them."
~~station~~
The shuttle ride was brutal. Twice the hardened marine had lost his lunchdue to the turbulence. His Klingon counterpart grinned with crooked teeth at his commander.
"What are you looking at!?" Matt asked Dak. The Klingon let out a hearty laugh. Jazz chuckled as well.
"We're almost there," The pilot reported. The medical team and engineering team prepped for depature. The three Marines stood, locked their Hazzard Suits and moved to the hatch to be first out. A soft thud resonated through the hull as the shuttle touched down on the landing pad.
"Alright, everybody out!" Matt said over the intercomm. He and his team stepped out on the gangway and made sure the area was safe.
"Lets move. We've got lives to save people."

Sonak sighed as it was now taking a very long time for help to arrive, and the look on Mark's face wasn't improving any either. "Very well, assist me," she said, clenching her teeth as Harper gently helped her to her feet. "Command chair," she said, as Harper slung her arm over his shoulder in order to support her. "The grunt will have to be removed later," she continued.
A few seconds later, she sat down in the comfortable command chair, which was much more comfortable than the seat in the readyroom. Just as she sat down, Nick entered the bridge, looking very pleased. "And?" she asked, trying to keep her facial expression neutral. Nick, however, was one of the few people who was able to read her even when she tried to remain unreadable.
Nick just smiled and told her of his encounter with Kordumir.
"I do not trust them," Sonak commented, and pointed towards her ready room. "One of them tried to kill me only a few minutes ago. He had been wearing some form of cloaking suit and it was fortunate that I was aware of his presence. Unfortunately, when I tried to read from his mind what his motives were, he died on the spot."
She winced ever so slightly when she resettled herself in her chair, and she hoped Nick hadn't noticed. "Did you receive my call for aid? Nephi is trapped on Pegasus, and the situation is dire."
Just then a shuttle craft could be seen leaving the Vesuvius, making a straight line for Pegasus. "Ah, I see that you have," she added, giving her first officer a wry smile, "good work. So...how is things between you and L'Ola?"
Sonak gave him a mischievous smile; she was up to something, but before actually asking she would have to confer with Jatan first.

OOC: sorry too for not posting til now...RL got in the way and i lost the plot too.... Reckus scanned the romulan in sickbay. The blood that Sonak donated was transfusing well and the patient's condition was improving greatly. He turned to Caldwell. "OK John , I want half hourly obs from now on" he said, making a note on the PADD next to him. "And maybe we could decrease the level of sedation also" "No problems Jate - you want a 10% decrease every hour?" "Erm, yeah that should do the trick." Jatan replied. "Also, have you updated Nick's medical records? He'll need to have a follow up in a couple of days" John nodded and called up Nicks notes. "If he's not busy then Ill fit him in in the next couple of days" he replied. Reckus yawned and walked towards his office. He was still feeling tired after the Vulcan ceremony that he and Sonak had been through the night before. He smiled to himself and began to fire off a message to his parents back on Earth. He knew they would both be delighted and even a little surprised that their eldest son had decided to settle down already. While he sat at his desk he felt a sudden tingling through his body and then an intense pain down one side. He soon realised that Sonak was the one experiencing these feelings for real. He shook his head from side to side and massaged his temples with his fingers. It was no good, it wasnt shifting. He got up suddenly and picked up a medical kit. "I'm heading up to the Commodore" he said in passing to John, who barely had time to wave an awknowledgement. Reckus got in the turbolift and muttered "bridge" out loud. He was delivered there quickly and walked out to the command chair that Sonak was sitting in. "Commodore? Are you OK?" he asked, with a look of concern on his face as he knelt down next to her.

Sonak looked down, surprised to find that Jatan himself had come up. She gave him a weak smile and nodded. "Yes, I believe so. One of those aliens fired a weapon at me, and he hit me but I do not know where. It hurts, but otherwise I am fine." She saw him rummage around in his medkit and hold up a hypospray. He gave her a mock-glare that told her he didn't want an argument, thus she nodded at him to go ahead.
She felt the medication take effect instantly. "I will come down to sickbay when this is over," she said softly, then covertly beckoned to Nick, who was still looking concerned. "He does not know, nor do I want him to."
Then she smiled brightly at him, as she ran her hand through his hair. "We still have to ask him," she said, a little louder, fully aware of Nick's glance on them. Jatan smiled in return and nodded upon which the both of them turned to Nick.
"We have to ask you something," Sonak said, then paused a moment for good measure. "We want you to be our Ceremony Master, for our wedding." The look on Nick's face was priceless, as neither of them had actually told him that they were going to get married. "
We also need a witness to verify that our bonding ceremony has indeed been successful, and we would like you to perform that ritual as well. Not only because you are telepathic, but mostly because you are our friend." They looked at the first officer expectantly, sharing a private amused thought as they waited for his answer. For a change, the first officer looked to be at a loss for words.
Meanwhile, the shuttle carrying the rescue team had docked at Pegasus. Mark Harper had joined the team, but had left the engineers and security people in command. He had merely tagged along because of his command experience, and he also was a qualified navigation officer, but other than that he made a very poor engineer.
The reserve XO peered at his tricorder, which showed a map of the complex outpost. "They are in the control room," he announced, and the Andorian security officer stepped up beside him to lead the team towards the control center, which was at the centre of the complex.
However, when they got there, after a long clumsy walk in EV-suits, they found the place to be deserted. "They're not here," Mark announced, "but my tricorder shows them to be at this location." He frowned as he studied the read-out on his tricorder. "Oh hang on!" he cried, "they're below, in the reactor room."
One of the other team members had walked over to the turbolift shaft. "Power's down, the elevator won't work," she announced, then walked over to the ladder shaft. "Ladder;s gone too." She got down on hands and feet, leaning slightly over the edge. "Mr Jacobson, can you hear me?" she shouted down, forgetting that she was dressed in an EV-suit and the sound would not carry down.
Her partner knelt down beside her and tapped her on her shoulder. "We're wearing suits, he won't hear you unless you open a channel to him."
The woman blushed and keyed in a new frequency. "Mr Jacobson, hang in there, we are on our way!" She unslung the emergency rope she was carrying around her shoulders and searched for a place to securely tie it to, then threw down the end of the rope down the ladder shaft.
Her partner held her back when she made a move to clamber down. "I would normally let ladies go first, but in this instance, I go first." He slid down the rope and waited for his partner to do the same after he signalled that it was safe. Moments later, Mark and the rest of the team came sliding down too. What they found stalled their breaths in their throats.
"Mr Jacobson!" Mark Harper cried, keying into the same frequency as the woman had before. "Where are you!"

Nephi was relieved that the call got through. I was worried about whether or not it would. The iron in this asteroid might have disrupted communications, as would the shielding around the reactor.
"Well at least they heard us," Leavitts said through the suit comm after a few silent moments.
"Yes, they did. And I am grateful for that," Nephi replied. "Deverat, you conscious?"
Nephi got nothing in reply.
"He must have went unconscious when he fell," Alma said.
Nephi sighed. "Most likely. Patterson, you conscious?"
"Y-yes, sir. But in alot of pain," he said through evidently clenched teeth.
"Can anyone get up?" Leavitts asked.
Nephi looked down at the strut over his legs. "I certainly can't. My legs are pinned." He tried pushing on the strut, by it wouldnt budge. "And the strut's too heavy for me to move."
Nephi saw a figure stand up in the darkness. "I can," Alma called. "I'll come help you guys get free," he said as he started towards Nephi, working his way around the debris littering the floor, though he had to move alot of it out of the way.
"No, check on Deverat. We need to make sure he's alive."
A few moments later, a rope came down the ladder shaft they had come down, on the other side of the room. Nephi watched as 6 people slid down the rope.
A new voice came through the comm frequency "Mr Jacobson!...Where are you!"
Nephi reached for the light on his arm and turned it on. He shined it at the rescue team. "I'm over here. Careful though, there's debris everywhere."
"Its a mess in here," a female voice called.
"It certainly is," Nephi replied. "I'm just glad the reactor didnt weaken, or you wouldnt have a station left to rescue someone from.
Harper commented as he worked his way over. "But that things offline. I don't see how it could explode."
Nephi looked at it. "The reaction slowed to a halt. But the fuel is still in there. It is quite possible for it to still ignite."
"Is there anyone injured?" Harper asked.
"Yes. You'll find that that pile of rubble you're walking by is actually Crewman Deverat. He fell, and is at least unconscious, maybe worse."
Harper looked around him, then saw the form of a suit. He waved the medical team over, who immediately began checking him.
"What exactly happened here?" Harper asked as he continued towards Nephi.
"When I was climbing down the ladder down here, I noticed it was creaking a little, but I didn't think anything of it. 4 of us got down safely, but when Deverat climbed down, it gave way, which started a chain reaction throughout the room. This entire room was weakened in an attack. It was a disaster waiting to happen."
"It would appear so." Harper finally reached Nephi, with another Officer behind him. Harper shined the light around Nephi, looking at the size of the strut.
Nephi looked at it himself. It was at least a foot in diameter, and several feet long. Harper and an engineer reached down to pull it away. As they pulled, Nephi pushed as hard as he could. He was free, and stood.
"Good, now how do we get out of here?"

Harper grinned at the younger man, then pointed with his flashlight at the rope they had come down with. "We climb," he said, "though we have to create something to hoist Mr Deverat up without moving him too much. Is there anything around here that we can tightly wrap him up in?"
Just then, one of his own team members came back with a few sheets that once were spotless white. "Look what I found," he said, "someone had set the table in the mess hall, for some ceremony or the other. It's a shame to leave these behind."
"Sir!" another cried from behind them, "I can't stop the leak in the core...we must get out of here, now!"
Harper nodded towards Jacobson. "Assist me," he said, "we must wrap him up as tight as possible, using one of the straightest sheets of metal we can find to support his back and neck. Until Doctor Reckus can take a look at him we want to minimize the risk to spinal injury." Together, they wrapped up the man securely and positioned him to be hoisted up.
"I will climb up first, then lower a second rope so that we can safely hoist Deverat up," he said, and swiftly clambered back up the rope, then fastened and lowered a second rope. "All set!" he called down, "make sure you've got some spare rope down there, so that we can steer his ascend!"
Not fifteen minutes later, the small group was on its way back to the shuttle. "I am reading a massive power build-up," the Andorian female said, "we must hurry."
Harper deftly steered the Etna away from the outpost, and no sooner than that they had reached a safe distance, the small outpost exploded. He wiped the sweat from his brow as he regarded the chief engineer. "That was close!" he exclaimed, then showed him his tricorder readings and a back of debris he had taken with him. "You and Ms Kanz will have a ball analyzing these," he said, "and then we can set up a project to build them a new outpost. There's plenty of asteroids to choose from in this system!"
He piloted the Etna back into the shuttlebay. "Harper to Commander Kanz, please meet me and Jacobson in science lab three," he called, "we've got something that may fire up your enthusiasm for your profession."

He looked from the Commodore to the Doctor and back to the Commodore. This had totally taken the Comander by surprise.
"Of..of course. I'd be honored," he stampered. "Just let me know when and I'll do what needs to be done."

There was usually only one reason she visited science lab 3, to check it was still there when she wrote end of mission reports. She generally stuck to the labs in the primary and secondary modules.
She was just finishing a report when Harper had called, so it took her a few minutes to finish off before heading off into foreign parts of the ship. L'Ola read through the report on the way. She didn't normally mind writing staff reports, sure she usually had to gloss over Jason's performance a little, but they were generally okay. This one, however was different.
As well as deciding how well her latest recruits were getting on, she'd had to write about Katia. There was no doubt about it, the divorce had hit her pretty hard, and it was affecting her work abilities.
Satisfied that everything was in order, L'Ola smiled and speculated about the task ahead. Somehow she thought it was more science than reports, which couldn't be a bad thing.
She entered the lab. "Okay, guys, what have we got?"
Harper showed her the debris, "I need the two of you to run an analysis on this. There's no immediate deadline, as far as I'm aware, but obviously the sooner the better." He left the room to report back from the away mission.
*This should be interesting* L'Ola thought. She wasn't too bad at this sort of thing, but she'd hardly spoken to Nephi before let alone worked with him. "I think I'm going to start by isolating and identifying the major components. Should be easier to get a rough idea of general properties that way." She started entering commands into the computer "So what was it like on the outpost then?"
As they worked, Nephi told her about the different things he had seen, and the general feeling he'd got about the place. Apart from breaking any ice, any information they had would be useful for identifying properties, and especially for rebuilding later on.
L'Ola started the computer off on its first mini project. "This could take a while. I have to go deliver a report to Commodore Sonak, see you in a bit."
For some reason unknown to her, she became very nervous on her way up to the bridge, and by the time she got to Sonak's ready room she was actually scared. Very few people on the ship knew about James and Katia's divorce, and even fewer had been told the real reason. And now here she was about to deliver a report explaining the effect those events had had on the science department.
"Come in" she heard Sonak call.
She walked in and placed the report on the desk. "Science personnel report, Commodore."
Sonak picked up the report and started to read through it. L'Ola sat down and waited for a response, with no idea what that response would be.

After reading through the report carefully, Sonak lay the PADD down on her desk, steepled her fingers before her and looked up at L'Ola. "Please have a seat," she said gently before continuing, "I see quite a lot has been happening in your department. It surprises me you have lasted this long without reporting it. Have you suggested your people that they should visit the counselor, as obviously it seems to be breaking apart the harmony in your department."
Her expression softened as she sensed the nervousness coming from her chief of science. "Please refer them both to me, and I will see if I can get either of them reassigned as it is obvious that they shall not be wanting to work together in this situation."
She shoved the PADD aside, and went to get a mug of tea from the replicator. "Would you like anything?" She replicated a mug of tea for L'Ola anyway, and set down the steaming mug before the woman. "There is something personal I need to ask you," she said, sitting back down. "As soon as we are docking at Bellicose, Jatan and I shall be preparing for our wedding."
She smiled as she saw L'Ola's stunned expression, it was almost as priceless as the look on Nick's face. "I am going to need your help," she continued, "I have no family here that can assist me in picking a dress, and you are the closest I have got to a sister on this ship, you are one of my closest friends, so I would request your assistance. Also, I would like you to oversee the children, as they will be the bridal maids and pages...you would be the senior bride's maid. What do you say?"

(OOC: I would like to thank Nick for helping me develop this idea)
Nephi thought it odd that Commander Kanz had chosen to leave so quickly. She seemed at little unfamiliar with this particular science lab. It wasn't the most used lab on the ship, but Nephi preferred it because of its proximity to Main Engineering.
But then, he wasn't sure whether or not the behavior was truly was odd for her. He had had little interaction with Kanz, and this was his first opportunity to work with her. He would have to get to know what this Chief Science Officer was like. The last Chief Science Officer he had served with was Acting First Officer at the time
Nephi now began to analyze the debris that had been collected from the wreckage of the now-destroyed Station. He noticed something very odd about it. He turned to the Lt that was helping him while Commander Kanz was busy, a young Betazoid male named Lan Torath. "Lt, do you notice something odd about this wreckage?"
Torath looked up from the piece of debris he was examining. "Like what, sir?"
"The fact that it doesnt look like wreckage. For example, that piece you're examining." Nephi stepped closer to it. It looked like what used to be a support joint, for the corner of the ceiling. "Notice how this piece has very smooth edges, like it was fresh out of a replicator of something. No jagged edges, no rough spots, no scorching. And this was a type of support I only saw near the reactor room. If this had been subject to an explosion, it would be showing at least some signs of it." He looked around at the rest of it. "And that seems to be consistent with most of it. Theres some denting, but that would be where pieces colliding. It appeared to be a cold fusion reactor. That should cause at least some explosion." He thought a moment. "Perhaps we should examine the sensor logs."
Nephi walked over to the console and accessed the sensor data from the explosion. He opened a visual recording of the incident. As he watched, he noticed that there was blaze of light usually accompanying an explosion. And the effect was further reaching. The whole Station seemed to come apart almost simultaneously. "Notice how the sections of the Station more distant from the reactor seemed to detached and just drift apart? It's almost as if the place lost structural integrity and fell apart. What kind of residue do we have on the debris?"
Torath looked at another screen. "Looks like we've got high-energy plasma, similar to our own EPS systems. And...this is odd."
Nephi looked over "Why, what else is present?"
Lan turned his head to meet Nephi's gaze. "Believe it or not, water. It looks like it was present in the reactor."
"Water? Not deuterium?" Lan nodded. "Could they have been using Di-deuterium oxide, heavy water, in place of deuterium?"
"No, it appears this is dihydrogen oxide; drinkable water."
"Interesting." He thought a minute, then something occured to him. "Check the sensor logs. Is there any signs of vibrations in the reactor room before the incident?"
Torath checked the sensors. "Yes, indeed there is. The entire chamber, and in fact the entire station, were resonating just before it came apart."
"That sounds right. I felt the room vibrating, but I thought it was from the core. But then, why would a dying cold fusion core vibrate....Unless..." His face lit up in recognition. "That's it."
"What's what? What did you find?"
"Well I didn't find it in the sensor logs, but I think I know what happened. This is no cold fusion reactor. It's a sonoluminescent generator."
"A sono-what?"
"Its a relatively recent development in power generation. They'd be working on it for many years, but couldn't make it practical for use on a large scale like this until a few years ago. I read a paper on this a while back. Sonoluminesence literally means making light from sound. If you send intense sound waves into a chamber of liquid, like de-gassed water, you create microscopic air bubbles that only last trillionths of a second. When those bubbles burst, it creates huge amounts of pressure and with temperatures of at least 10,000 Kelvins, along with a tiny burst of light. The plasma we've found would have been absorbed the heat like it does in our warp core, and is used to power the rest of the facility."
"So what went wrong? Why did it vibrate the station apart?"
"The fequency of the sound waves is set such that it doesn't affect the chamber, or else the sound would make the chamber vibrate itself apart. However, its possible that if when the raiders attacked the Station, the computer controlling it was damaged, and the frequency changed to the resonance of the chamber. When that happened, the chamber began to absorb the sound waves rather than transmit then to the liquid. That would cause less heat, and therefore less energy."
Just then, Commander Kanz came back in. "Progress?"
Nephi turned. "I would say so. Commander, I've got something interesting to report....."
(OOC: No rush in getting back, L'Ola. Take your time on the wedding matters. Oh, and by the way for those wondering, this technology actually exists. The concept was developed about 15 years ago, and the technology is under development.)

<going to jump ahead a little as I want this finished by friday>
A few days had passed, and Sonak was glad she could count on L'Ola for the assistance in the planning of her wedding, and the picking of her dress. She knew exactly which colour she desired, but she could not choose on a design. Investigations on the explosion of Outpost Pegasus were also progressing; Nephi Jacobson was working with L'Ola Kanz and Nick Martens on it. This meant that it had the masterminds on the job, and Sonak wasn't worried.
Meanwhile, she had been in contact with Captain Jamey O'Halloran, of the USS Ampère. O'Halloran was one of the few captains commandeering a full engineering ship and they were assigned to assist the occupants of the outpost in building a new outpost, the Pegasus-II.
"Commodore Sonak to Mareen and T'Rhan, please report to my readyroom," she called, preparing herself to break the good news. They'd build decent shelters on Hades for them, until such a time that Pegasus-II was ready to be occupied. The Grunts had signed a treaty, ensuring the safety of the outpost occupants, and a working relationship between their species, and the Federation. In turn, the Federation would keep an eye on their region of space.

"Bridesmaid? Cool!" Thinking about it, the prospect of a wedding wasn't too much of a surprise, she realised. But it was still a little bit of a shock to hear it officially. "Congratulations, by the way. It's always nice to hear good news."
"Thank you. Are you in any hurry to go anywhere at the moment."
L'Ola shook her head, "Not immediately. I have a scan running and Lieutenant Jacobson's working on something too. Why? You wanting dress ideas already."
Sonak nodded, "I wish to have a champagne coloured dress. However I am unsure on design."
"In that case let's load up a database and start on a shortlist..."
Still happy that someone on board had good news, L'Ola headed back down to science lab 3. Her mind drifted back onto the project, so by the time she entered the lab she was once again focussed on the task.
"Progress?"
Nephi turned. "I would say so. Commander, I've got something interesting to report."
"Go ahead." *This should be good* she thought.
He explained the situation with the sonoluminescent generator, and what he thought the most likely cause of destruction would be.
"Have you managed to support these theories at all?" she asked.
"Hopefully the data the computer just finished processing should provide some back up, but as we're only looking at a small piece of the puzzle it's difficult to say."
L'Ola looked at the information in front of her. It would be very easy to verify the power source, but it would require cashing in some favours she wasn't sure she had. "I might be able to get us some specs on the generator. Would that make it easier to confirm the cause of the explosion?"
"Should do" Nephi replied, "Of course, once we do confirm it we're going to need to come up with a way of preventing the same thing happening to the new outpost."
"We should probably get Nick down here to help out as well. I think I need to read up on this a bit first, only came across this stuff in passing. But first..." she tapped her badge, "Kanz to Mareen, please report to science lab 3"
Mareen was slightly puzzled. Why had she decided to help them? Whatever the reason it certainly had nothing to do with family connections. No, it was definitely for the good of the people she worked with. Working with that stupid p'taq for a short length of time had strengthened her loyalties to her own kind.
<OOC: Sorry, too tired to reply to last post. Will do that in the morning.>

T'Rhan, just released from sickbay on a trial basis, joined Mareen on the observation deck. "We've been called to the bridge," he urged softly, "and I promised Doctor Reckus that I'd take it easy and would come back at the end of each day for a check-up."
He circled his arm around her waist and gently turned her around. "The commodore must have good news, or she'd not call for both of us." He led her towards the bridge and the both of them directly headed for the readyroom. "You called ma'am?" he asked the Vulcan woman in command of the ship.
Sonak nodded in turn and motioned for them to sit down. "The USS Ampere will arrive soon to take charge of rebuilding your outpost," she started, "they have decided to call the outpost Pegasus-II and while they are at it they well implement the latest upgrades into the outpost's design. We will help establish camps on Hades for you, after which the crew of the Ampere will look after you. Our new allies will also make sure that you will have what you need, as they see it now as their task to compensate you for your loss. We will be heading back for Starbase Bellicose in a few days, until then you and your staff are welcome to use any facility aboard this ship that is not restricted to persons not assigned to this ship or specific tasks aboard this ship."
Sonak paused for a few seconds. "Also, our ship's counselor is available to you until our departure time."
T'Rhan nodded his understanding, and looked at Mareen to see her response.
