Crystal had to hotwire another containment door before their group made it to to computer core but they had made it unscathed. Crystal breathed a sigh of relief as the door slid closed behind Sonak and Ensign An. She set to work on the main computer relays, someone had done them quite a lot of damage probably by a deliberate overload and then ensured that the back-ups hadn't cut in. It should be possible to do some rerouting there was some spare power and functioning relays about.
She decided it would take less time to manually swap the working relays around to get at least part of computer rebooted that it would to try to undo the damage to back-up connection. Computers weren't really her speciality but here went everything...
At that moment there was a clang followed by some sort of crunch that Crystal didn't want to identify. Then sounds of a scuffle, Crystal turned and came up behind Larok. She looked round a corner and were confronted with the sight of a Trill with red eyes holding a laser scalpel to the Commodore's throat.
"No further" he rasped, his eyes flashing an even deeper shade of red "Throw down your arms, and re-route power to that turbolift and shuttle launch pad A5. Don't try anything, or say goodbye to your leader" Crystal swallowed she was sure that enough damage had been done to the computer and power grid that she couldn't do that if she wanted to. Larok answered before she could.
Not going to happen. Not because we do not want to do as you say, but the main power feeds have been severed several decks below this one.
Crystal watched as Larok fired. The Trill ran as Sonak slumped to the floor. Crystal found herself staring at the laser scalpel, it was clearly a standard one from a starfleet sickbay or science lab. She stared at her tricorder screen she had momentarily forgotten that the device was in her hand.
Sir you shot her. Crystal heard one of the Marines say to Larok
It would seem so; I wonder how long you get in the brig for shooting your commanding officer?Larok said and then continued. Trinna see to the Commodore; Gunny see if you can locate that officer and lets see if we can find out why he attacked the Commodore.
"He didn't" Crystal said and then clarified herself as all eyes turned in her direction. "Or at least not voluntarily. I noticed before that something was off with his body chemistry but I didn't get enough data to check. Now though," She turned her tricorder so everyone could see the screen. "His neurotransmitters are spiking all over the place and there are two more chemicals there that are functioning as neutrotransmitters but aren't Trill." Crystal paused a moment and realised that she still had got to the point of her argument. "He seems to be under the influence of some sort of parasitic lifeform." She stopped her self from adding further probably irrelavent detail.

She stood and thought for a moment, she did not want that Trill coming back here. She smiled, it was a slightly feral sort of smile. She moved to the artifical gravity controls this was one of the very few things that was still functioning. Crystal carefully entered a few commands. She felt a slight wave as her commands took affect. She noticed Larok looking at her.
"I put the artifical gravity in the access tunnels above here up to ten times Earth gravity and compensated for the extra power drain but cutting the gravity in here to 0.9 Earth." She gave that slightly feral smile again. She wasn't quite sure where she had picked up the habit from but it seemed to work.
"I'm pretty sure I can get enough of the computer going to act as a comms relay."

Sonak held back a little when they entered the computer room, reassured that Rose knew what she was doing. Or so she hoped anyway. Some of the marines volunteered their knowledge in computer technics and even engineering and nodding to Larok, she allowed them to assist Olympia's chief science officer in her work. Just that she hadn't taken the extra engineering courses in the academy, didn't mean anyone else hadn't either.
As she walked away, she was flanked by one of Larok's marines, though she didn't recognize the man, who was wearing a sergeant's stripes. In a moment of disattention, she felt someone fall against her even as the marine was kicked away, and seconds later ripping apart as a grenade on his vest exploded. The Vulcan fought the person who pulled her back to her feet but in that brief moment of disattention, he had gained the upper hand.
Sonak froze as she felt the heat of the activated laser scalpel against her throat. One wrong move and she would be decapitated and that was something she rather preferred to avoid. She stood perfectly still as she listened to the Trill while he made his demands, then nodded ever so slightly to Larok. She knew he was planning something, and if there was one thing she learned, it was to trust her senior marine officer, especially since that person was assigned for her own protection.
She saw him lift his rifle, saw him adjust the settings and take aim but the next part she hadn't quite expected. She saw him fire but instead of the Trill, the phaser beam hit her instead, catching the Trill only on his hand. With a look of utter shock on her face, she slumped first against her captor, who jumped away in pain, and then to the deck.
Later, she woke up, finding herself propped up against one of the consoles. A marine was sitting beside her, a look of concern but also a certain alertness on his face. She struggled to get to her feet, but the marine held her down. "I need to get up," she insisted, after which the marine moved to assist her.
"Lieutenant Larok, what on Earth possessed you to shoot me," she demanded as the marine helped her over to Larok, An and Rose. "Rose, I need you to tweak as much power as possible to re-establish communications. "Take more from gravity and even life support from non-essential areas if you have to. If you need assistance, I will gladly offer it, but I am not a trained engineer."

"He seems to be under the influence of some sort of parasitic life-form."
Larok: Everyone reset phasers to heavy stun, the pulse setting had little effect on him.
Gunny Jones: Sir we lost Sgt Lignas when the Trill pulled the pin on his grenade he covered it with his body to protect the Commodore.
Larok I will note it in my log Simper Fi.
Jones: Hu Rah.
*Commodore Sonak regained her feet and turned to address Larok*
"Lieutenant Larok, what on Earth possessed you to shoot me,"
Larok: It seemed the logical thing to do at the time. I have made a report while you were knocked out.
*Larok handed her a pad with a summary report on it; it read:.. Field notes on incident involving the stunning of Commodore Sonak in a hostage situation. I needed to separate you from the Trill and his weapon. Stunning him could have caused a mussel contraction ending with the scalpel in your throat. By directing the force of the shot on the scapulae I fused the power cell and knocked it from his grasp; the dissipation of the remainder of the stun charge in you took you out of the picture as a barging chip; who is going to try to negotiate with someone who shot your hostage. I will except any fall out from my actions but it did save from a trip to sick bay, at this time.

"Computer .. Exactly how much access do you have at this time to the Star base main frame ?"
"Limited." the Olympia's mainframe replied.
He was getting more and more frustrated as the minutes passed, and needed some answers .. Sighing, he re-defined the question ..
"Do you have access to the Star base environmental controls ?"
"I have access within approximately eighty five meters of this Vessel .. Secondary safe-guards prevent remote access beyond that distance."
"HA !!" Tan shouted, trying to think back to his meager medical and Biological training ..
"Computer .. Re-configure oxygen levels to induce hypoxia in specified radius."
"To induce full hypoxia in all species would involve severe cerebral damage to ninety eight point nine percent of life-forms in specified range .. Do you wish to proceed ?"
That wasn't good .. He needed to 'refine' the parameters ..
"Can't we just 'knock-out' the humanoid species' only .. Without including the Alien ?"
The computer took her time to reply, but Tan was happy when she did ..
"Defuse Cerebral Hypoxia will occur within the specified parameters on command."
'OK !' David thought .. At least i can now knock out everyone within almost a hundred meters of this air-lock' he thought .. So .. If Captain Smiths condition was anything to go by, anyone unconscious wouldn't be detected by the Alien, and the only thing moving about would 'BE' the alien ...
"Computer .. Initiate instructions .. Tan-Alpha-Two-Two-Gamma ..........

Marco awoke with a pain in his head and side, and the voluptuous figure of Katie Abernathy leaning over him, trying to administer a hypospray to the side of the face that did not have a bruise.
" ...?.. What happe..." but his memory immediately returned at the sight of Colonel Wong, and an instinctive hook caught him square in the chin causing the marine to lose balance and fall. If it were his right hand, it would have been harder, but the Marco's dominate arm was pinned by Doctor Abernathy's lean.
Wong didn't have time to respond, though, when an ensign walked in. After an initial standoff, they engaged in conversation.
Marco whispered to Abernathy. "It's nice to see he treats everyone like that." His sarcasm wasn't well received. "Is he always that arrogant?"
Katie didn't answer, and Alice gave Marco a look which suggested he should probably keep his mouth shut. He was lucky to have gotten away with a punch to the jaw. It was probably best not to start a verbal fight. Especially since they were in unfamiliar territory, and it could be somewhat justified as being Wong's turf.
The new ensign could hold his own, though. He had found his new crew, only to arrive to hostilities, yet he didn't seem phased. Commendable, but likely stupid when dealing with this crew. At least, what Marco has seen of it so far... and felt of it. Then again, Crystal Rose, the science officer, treated him nicely, he remembered.
Marco winced in pain as Katie shifted him into an upright sitting position, and waited for Alice and Katie to finish before standing up slowly.

"Ensign Sam Sloan, chief engineer of the USS Olympia, god willing. I'd be sittin' pretty and ready to tell you me whole life story if you'd lower that rifle, sir. Two questions: how can I help, and what on god's green earth is goin' on?"
Tiberian smiled for numerous reasons. Finally, they had a new chief engineer, quite hand in the current situation as it happened. Secondly, he had finally met someone who appeared to be able to have a laugh despite there dire situation. Thirdly, the man was blatantly Irish. He stood and extended his hand, lowering the rifle.
"A pleasure Mr Sloan. I'm Lieutenant Colonel Wong, your XO. Please don't call me sir, because I'm not that old yet. I answer to Colonel, LC, or Tiberian if I'm in a really good mood. once you've been in a life or death situation with me, you could call me Mr T as well" He smiled and winked. "What's going on is that a deranged cat is leaping around the station killing people, having cut all the stations power. What you can do to help is come with us to the comms array. We're going to try and estab..." A sudden thought cut him short.
"Katie, how long have we been gone?"
"About ten minutes" Katie answered.
"And how long did I tell Byrne, Fox and Martinez to wait before they left us down here?"
Panic dawned on everyone's faces, except for Slaon who had no idea what was going on.
"Grab his other side" Tiberian yelled at Sloan as he grabbed hold of D'Angelo's right arm, ignoring the doctor's shouts of protest "We've got some crewmembers repairing a turbolift to the upper levels. They're going to go and leave us if we don't get over there right now. Katie, you and Alice stay in front of us. Move!"
The rag tag group bolted form sickbay, running through the dark corridors towards the other side of the deck where the turbolift was. Hurtling through the corridors, Tiberian tried to strike up conversation.
"By the way chief, the person you're currently manhandling is Dr D'Angelo, the Vesuvius' CMO. The one on the left is his nurse, and the one on the right is our doctor. Say hi"
<TAG Sloan/D'Angelo>
The group arrived in the cargobay within two minutes, again thankfully unassailed by the Sivoan. They slowed down, each puffing slightly at the unexpected run. The turbolift appeared to have been powered up, but the other crewmembers were not there yet. He and Sloan laid D'Angelo down by the turbolift door, leaving Alice and Katie to fawn all over him. Suddenly a noise came from the cargobay entrance, and Tiberian and Sloan levelled their phasers. Footfall could be heard, and a shadow began to emerge in the doorway.
<TAG Fox and Byrne scaring us, or TAG Snowfall trying to kill us, we're not that fussy>

Sloan hefted the doctor by one side, and was only slightly chagrined when he noticed how much easier the action seemed for Tiberian. But of course it was natural for a little competitiveness to creep into the minds of men in a crisis situation. However, he liked this man, this Lt Col Wong. A strong will and no nonsense attitude. He seemed like the sort of fellow who would toss aside regulation when the course deemed it so. And certainly he wouldn't have been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel if that very judgment wasn't sound.
"By the way chief, the person you're currently manhandling is Dr D'Angelo, the Vesuvius' CMO. The one on the left is his nurse, and the one on the right is our doctor. Say hi"
Sloan smiled, his teeth jittering from their frantic run to the cargo hold. "Couple of fine lasses we got here, eh doctor? Very nice folks indeed." Sloan was trying to get a rise out of the doctor, to show a little mock calm amid the anxiety, but Doctor D'Angelo looked sallow and had a way of seeming bizarrely furious and disinterested at the same time. His face and neck were flushed, puffy, and seemed discolored. Sam realized too late that humor was not the best tack.
<tag Doctor D'Angelo>
It was moments after returning to the cargo bay that Sloan's ears were pricked. Almost before he could turn to see what it was, Tiberian Wong was already facing the entrance, phaser drawn and readied. Sloan did likewise. In the bloodied gloom of the emergency lights, a shadow began to form...

*As Larok listened to Crystal he surveyed their surroundings and noticed a hatch in the far wall labeled escape pods.*
Larok: I think we will find most of what we need in one of the escape pods. Gunny take Blogg and retrieve the emergency beacon, rescue transmitter and med kits from the escape pods. Also bring back the phasers and tricorders. With my help miss Rose do you think we can rig up a transporter pattern enhancer so when we contact the V we can have them transport in a security squad, some engineers and my teams combat armor. I have a fair back ground in Engineering but most of the equipment I am familiar with is Vulcan and over a century out of date. It is time we go on the offense and to get some of the problems fixed we will have to go eva.

I think we will find most of what we need in one of the escape pods. Gunny take Blogg and retrieve the emergency beacon, rescue transmitter and med kits from the escape pods. Also bring back the phasers and tricorders Larok said. That all sounded good to Crystal, she was planning out what to do when the Marine continued. With my help Miss Rose do you think we can rig up a transporter pattern enhancer so when we contact the V we can have them transport in a security squad, some engineers and my teams combat armor. That was a complicated question. Crystal swallowed before answering "I think i can do it although it may well take a while. I haven't had a chance to do much with transporter systems in a while. How about you?" "I have a fair back ground in Engineering but most of the equipment I am familiar with is Vulcan and over a century out of date. It is time we go on the offense and to get some of the problems fixed we will have to go eva." Crystal nodded, she agreed with him. Too many people had died so far. "I'd be grateful if you could find me some more power cells."
Crystal's mind was all ready back on the problem in hand. She pried off another access panel and looked at the burned out relays behind. This was supposed to be part of the station's internal comms system but now it was a load of junk. One of the marines passed her a escape pod's rescue transmitter. It needed to be rewired to receive as well as transmit and then piggy-backed into what was left of the comms array. Crystal set to work laser sample cutter in one hand and gently beeping tricorder on the floor in front of her amongst a sea of removed components.
"Rose, I need you to tweak as much power as possible to re-establish communications. "Take more from gravity and even life support from non-essential areas if you have to. If you need assistance, I will gladly offer it, but I am not a trained engineer." The Commodore said. Crystal looked round and was pleased to see the Vulcan woman on her feet again even if she did look a little pale.
"I'd be glad to have your help. I'm not an engineer either." Crystal smiled and gestured at the access panel in front of her. "All the burned out parts will have to be by-passed." Crystal smiled. "Just think of it as a circulatory system." she suggested.

Steven had been using the time to try to establish a Comm link with the Star-base .. But he was limited due to their location ..
"To induce full hypoxia in all species would involve severe cerebral damage to ninety eight point nine percent of life-forms in specified range .. Do you wish to proceed ?"
The Captain over-heard the computer's comment and turned to Tan ..
"David ..."
"Don't worry Captain .. I'm working on it." Tan said, re-thinking his initial idea ..
"Can't we just 'knock-out' the humanoid species' only .. Without including the Alien ?" Tan said, frowning.
The computer took her time to reply, but Tan was happy when she did ..
"Defuse Cerebral Hypoxia will occur within the specified parameters on command."
"Computer .. Initiate instructions .. Tan-Alpha-Two-Two-Gamma."
"Captain ..." David said, handing Smith a pair of night-vision goggles, a phaser rifle and a side arm, "There's no light in the station at the moment .. Those will work ok though."
"Thanks."
"It seems that the Alien totally ignored you while you were unconscious .. Hypoxia will keep everyone within range out cold .... Hopefully ...." David said.
"The Docking area has a separate power supply .. Could we get to it from here ?" the Captain asked.
"It's two decks down Sir .. But you read my mind." handing Smith an ear-piece so he had access to the Olympia computer too, "Computer .. Lock onto our bio-signs .. Parameters as before .. Inform on all life-signs within one hundred meters."
"Ready." said the ship ..
Tan looked at the Captain, then at the massive air-lock door .. Checking that his night-vision goggles were activated, he gestured to the corridor ..
"After you .. Sir ..." he said, a wry smile on his face ..........

After jury-rigging a portable generator, Byrne watched as the staff headed for the elevators system to the upper levels.
Resetting his gear pack, he hoisted Fox up to monitor the Doppler sensor watching the area. Hearing muffled phaser fire, he reinforced the door with a couple of more charges and slipped back into his repelling harness. Slinging a tow line for Commander Fox, he slowly proceeded out of the room to find the access tunnel parallel to the freight elevator that the Colonel just entered.
Reaching the junction area, Logan fired a few volleys of stun fire into the tube. Latching onto the ladder, they proceeded up to the alternate transmitter array.
After hitting the 6th deck, Byrne checked his quad corder and saw a fast moving blip heading towards the area with the main transmitter. Locking off, they attempted to enter on the current deck. Choosing insanity over logic, Byrne told Fox to stay back as he manually pumped the door open. Bracing himself against the bulkhead, he tossed a flash bang grenade into the corridor. Entering the corridor, he was slightly taken aback at the carnage in the room. Good thing he loved horror movies.
Dropping a small wheeled device on the floor, Byrne slowly guided it into the next corridor. using his cyber-implants, he connected it to the quad-corder to se what lay ahead.

As they moved into the corridor, David could see his Commanding Officer seeming to sway. Smith placed a hand against the bulk-head to steady himself ..
"Captain ? ...."
"I'm ok .. It must be a secondary symptom to the low oxygen .. Give me a moment."
Tan checked his tricorder for life-signs, then confirmed the readings with the Olympia's computer .. Plotting a route to the docking area's power supply, he could see they needed to get to an access ladder. This would allow them to climb down the two decks ..
"Which way David ?" Steven asked, now fully recovered.
"Ahead Sir .. Forty two meters .. Then a left turn .. The access ladder should be twenty meters ahead from there."
Unslinging their rifles, the two Officers clung to the bulk-head as they moved forward .. At the turn, they could see a woman unconscious, David moved her to a move comfortable position and checked her pulse ..
"She's going to be ok Captain."
Smith nodded, then signaled for them to move on ..
Reaching the ladder, the Captain started to step into the access tube, but David stopped him ..
"Sir .. I think I should go first .. You may still be feeling the affects ......"
Reluctantly, Steven stepped aside, allowing Tan access .. They climbed to the level below and Tan stepped off the ladder to check his readings .. There were several life-signs on this level, all seemingly unconscious. That was good ..
"Computer .. Update on the Alien's location."
"The Alien is currently at a distance of ninety two meters .. Fourteen meters above this location."
Stepping back onto the ladder, he continued down, Smith following ...
Moving along the corridor, they reached the doorway to the power plant .. Tan re-checked his tricorder to make sure the room was empty, then both men entered ..
"Seal the door David." the Captain said, removing the night-vision goggles .. Tan did likewise as he locked then sealed the door .. Steven began to make the required adjustments to divert power back into the Space station, or at least their immediate sections, with power ...
"Got it .. We can return power to approximately twenty four decks .. Twelve above and the same below our current position." Smith said ...
Tapping his Comms badge, he tried to see if anyone was receiving him ..
=^= Captain Smith to all personnel =^=
=^= Captain Smith to all personnel .. Is anyone receiving this Comm ...... =^=
Both men waited anxiously to see if they would get a reply ..........

The Vulcan woman listened to Rose explain what needed to be done and smiled ever so slightly. "It is not as if we can do more damage and render the station powerless due to it, is it?" she asked softly, only for Rose to hear. She grimaced as she lay on her back and ducked under the console. "Direct me commander," she ordered, poking around in the wiring, taking out isolinear chips here and there with one hand, while reaching for a spanner with the other. "What am I looking for?"
She saw two feet come to a halt next to her. "Ensign An, how good of you to join us, how do you feel?" The Trill had clipped An in the shoulder earlier and the security officer had been somewhat dazed ever since. Sonak herself didn't feel too well either, not after having been threatened by a deranged Trill with an activated laser scalpel.
Sonak bolted upright when suddenly a voice crackled from her combadge and she painfully banged her head against the console above her, nearly blacking out in the process. =^= Captain Smith to all personnel .. Is anyone receiving this Comm ...... =^=
She tapped her own combadge, while An and Larok both helped her back to her feet. "This is Commodore Reckus," she answered, "captain Smith where are you!" It was good to hear someone else's voice again; the way Larok's marines carried themselves, their threatening manner, made her nervous. She didn't doubt Larok was up to his job, as he obviously had many many more years of experience than she had. Probably more than the combined service years of Rose, An and herself together, and she trusted him to do his job. But she didn't trust his team, they were too gunhappy.
There was a long silence, before the call was repeated. "Are they receiving us?" Sonak wondered aloud, hope displayed on her face. "Captain Smith, this is Commodore Sonak Reckus. We are in the computer control room. Report!" Again, she waited.

It soon became obvious that either 'they' weren't being heard, or any reply wasn't getting through .. Checking his tricorder again he was surprised to see that there was less than sixty five percent power being re-routed back into the station ..As the Captain yet again tried to make contact with someone, Tan decided to see if he could boost the power output .. Looking through the massive window out onto the docks themselves, he had a thought ..
"Computer .. How much power have we taken from the exterior docking systems ?"
"Current power expenditure is sixty four point eight percent."
"Can we increase to one hundred percent from here ?"
"Over-riding safety protocols would allow for one hundred percent transfer .. CAUTION .. This will disengage all mag-lock and anti-grav systems."
"Meaning anything currently docked will float free of their moorings ?" Steven asked the computer.
"Correct .. Fifteen percent power will need to remain in output to maintain sufficient maglock cohesion." the ship replied, interpreting the Captains query.
"Increase power to eighty five percent." Tan ordered ..
Several noises he'd couldn't remember hearing while in space-dock, began to concern him .. Creaking and an obvious scraping of metal on metal, as the docks super-structures began to move due to the lack of retaining power .. It was un-nerving to say the least .. As anything could break loose and come through the plexi-glass window quite easily ...
Tan nodded to the Captain to try again .. Steven nodded, tapping his Comm badge ..
=^= Captain Smith to all personnel .. Is anyone picking up this comm ? =^=
They waited, but still nothing ... Smith decided to give the Comms one more try. If no luck they would have to make a move and see what they could find, but he wanted a status report first ..
"Any life-signs yet David ?" he asked ..
Checking his tricorder, this time deciding to rely on it's reading's ..
"The alien is currently outside the one hundred meter radius." Tan said .. Smith tapped his comm badge yet again ..
=^= Captain Smith at all personnel =^=
=^= Captain Smith to all personnel .. Is anyone receiving this Comm ...... =^=
There was static .. Then ..
=^= This is Commodore Reckus ..Captain Smith .. Where are you ? =^=
'Are they receiving us' Sonak wondered, trying again ..
=^= Captain Smith .. This is Commodore Sonak Reckus .. We are currently in the computer control room .. Please report ... =^=
=^= Commodore ...... =^=
Steven replied, with obvious relief ..
=^= ...... Commander Tan and myself are in the docking bay power center .. Are you OK Ma'am ? =^=
=^= That .. Captain .. Is debatable .. Do we have you to thank for the power ? =^=
=^= No Commodore .. That would be down to Commander Tan .. Can you have someone patch into our power .. We're not sure how long this conduit will hold transferring the amount of power we're moving =^=
Tan and Smith waited for a reply .. Relieved at finally getting in contact with someone else ..........

"It is not as if we can do more damage and render the station powerless due to it, is it?" Sonak asked softly, Crystal shook her head. "This circuit is so burned out that I doubt turning a phaser on it would damage it any more." Crystal said soto voce. "What am I looking for?" "Anything that is blocking the power flow. I've rerouted round the problems we've found so far."
The two of them continued to work in silence for so time. Ensign An came over to join them, Crystal noted that he too looked a little pale, hardly surprising given the circumstances.
A voice suddenly issued from their comm badges. It was crackly and breaking-up, but Crystal had never been so pleased to hear he Captain's voice (except at the end of their last mission). =^= Captain Smith to all personnel .. Is anyone receiving this Comm ...... =^=
=^=Captain Smith where are you!=^= The commodore tagged her own comm badge in response while Crystal set to work trying to get more power to the signal and more to point clean it up a bit.
"Are they receiving us?" Sonak said. Crystal rechecked a few of the more dubious looking of her improvised connections "As far as I can tell" she replied. "Captain Smith, this is Commodore Sonak Reckus. We are in the computer control room. Report!"
=^= ...... Commander Tan and myself are in the docking bay power center .. Are you OK Ma'am ? =^= Crystal broke into a smile. It was good to know that David was safe as well as the Captain.
=^= That .. Captain .. Is debatable .. Do we have you to thank for the power ? =^= Sonak replied as Crystal continued to work on the comm relay.
=^= No Commodore .. That would be down to Commander Tan .. Can you have someone patch into our power .. We're not sure how long this conduit will hold transferring the amount of power we're moving =^=
"I'm on it." Crystal called as she scuttled past Sonak with a coil of cabling in one hand and a laser cutter in the other. Until now she had mostly ignored the power distribution network as there wasn't any power to distribute. Now though there was...
As quickly as possible she routed the power back into the main station. She started with the comms array and then went for lighting.
Crystal sat back on her heels and needlessly dusted on her hands. "I think that's done it" she called across the now fully lit computer core. "Comms and lights back on line"

Alice helped carry Marco, who was clearly not amused by the new engineer's quips, to the destination. He faded in and out of consciousness, which Doctor Abernathy said would happen. "His immune system is trying to recuperate, and it's going into overload. I'm keeping it monitored, and this is expected"
The nurse felt sorry for the doctor, and for Colonel Wong as well. While she found the straight forwardness of his command style invigorating and inspiring, she knew that his personality was the opposite of her Chief Medical Officer's. She had cringed each time Wong barked an order in Marco's direction, knowing that an equal and opposite bark was most likely to return. Within this mixed crew, her usual job of keeping the Doctor on an even keel was useless, as nobody knew the nuances of the touchy Doctor.
Wong had motioned everyone to stop when a noise was heard, and the Doctor and Nurse holding Marco held still. The weight of the man, even though he was fit, was harder to carry while holding still, causing Alice to have to alternate bending knees to bear the load. Abernathy, a bit younger, was having less trouble.
Alice whispered to Marco, "You really need to wake up." He was awake at this point. ".. and start walking for yourself." Marco didn't fade back out this time, but a stiffening of the legs could be felt. He had a look of vertigo in his eyes, as they rolled around trying to gain balance. Finally everything seemed to click, and Marco was trying to put pressure on his feet, using the nurses as his walking sticks.
The fading in and out wasn't so bad, it was the sick feeling that accompanied the fading in part. How disgusting it would be if he had lost his dinner on the floor in front of everyone. What would Katie think? Those were primarily his thoughts as he faded in and out.
Alice deserved a lot of credit. She had carried the brunt of Marco's issues on the Vesuvius, keeping him well reigned so he wouldn't get Commodore Reckus too mad at him. Now she was literally carrying to safety on the Starbase. When they reached the cargo bay, he awoke.
"Where are we?"
"In a cargo bay. You really need to wake up and start walking for yourself"
Marco tried for several minutes to catch his balance before slightly leaning over and standing on his own. He stretched his arms to the side, one on each of the women's shoulders. He resisted the urge to lose his stomach contents, and watched as Wong quietly gave hand gestures - barking orders without the bark.

=^= Commodore .. I have managed to activate the internal force-fields .. But only in my immediate area .. I'm sending the re-initialization protocols to you now .. Have Commander Rose input them .. You should be able to effectively seal off your position then =^= Tan said
=^= Getting them now ! =^= Crystal said, transferring the data to her panel, then nodding ..
=^= Yes .. We have internal shields =^=
=^= Commodore .. We're tracking the Alien .. It is two decks above us at present .. But can somehow move between decks much quicker than ourselves =^= the Captain said.
=^= I'm using the Olympia's sensors and relaying the data to my tricorder =^= Tan said, trying to give Crystal all the information he could, fearing the link may fail ..
=^= I'm not sure if it will work for you and your party due to the distance involved .. But you could try to patch in on the off-chance .. Couldn't hurt ..... Also .. We can use the shields now by moving them as 'we' move .. Moving shields as we traverse the corridor etcetera =^= David hoped Crystal could adapt the shields in her area to do the same, it would make movement easier ..
While the Captain was speaking to Sonak, David checked with the Olympia ..
"Computer .. Status report on power distribution within the Star base."
"You currently have power on twelve decks above and twelve below your current location .. Life support and gravity steady .. Commodore Sonak has eighty five percent power and increasing .. Seventy three percent of the station is currently on life support only but without further power."
'Seventy three percent' Tan thought, astonished at the figure .. Hundreds of people would be wandering the corridors in total confusion ...
=^= Excuse me Commodore ..... Commander Rose .. Is there any way you can tap into the main power feed for emergency power .. If so .. The rest of the base will at least have adequate lighting and stable gravity =^= Tan asked.
Wiping her brow, Crystal had to give Tan's question some serious thought .. Feed-back was a major issue, and she could end up blowing half the station into space if not careful ..
=^= I'll have a go =^= she replied, then had a thought ..
=^= Sirs .. It would be a lot easier to do this if we had use of the other docks power supply too .. Is it possible someone could reverse the power in the other dock and feed it directly into the EPS conduits .. The balance should provide the rest of the station =^=
=^= Someone needs to get to the other dock power supply then .. Someone quiet .. This is not going to be a smash and grab exercise ... =^= Captain Smith said, pointing out the obvious ..........

Tiberian breathed a sigh of relief as he saw the people approaching to be Byrne's group, and lowered his phaser, gesturing to Sloan to do the same. The Commander approached and they entered the hatch adjacent to the freight elevator, obviously having been unable to restore power to the turbolift. Byrne took point, followed by Fox, Martinez and the miscellaneous crew, then Katie and Alice, respectively pushing and pulling D'Angelo as he came up the ladder, and with Sloan and Tiberian bringing up the rear.
Roughly six decks up, Byrne's quadcorder began to beep, indicating a creature moving towards them. Pumping the hatch to that deck open, he tossed in a flashbang followed by a series of monitoring devices to inspect the way ahead. The rear of the group was at an intersection, with three possible routes of attack available to the Sivoan should she attempt it. Tiberian called up to Byrne.
"Commander, believe me when I say that I really don't think anything in their can be as bad as what's in here" The acoustics of the tube made the snarling he heard come from all around, making the true location indiscernable. As he tried to level his rifle at the different hatches, attempting to shine light on the location of the Sivoan, he had had enough. "To hell with it, get in there. NOW!"
He pushed people up the tube and on to the deck as he saw a rush of right behind them. He clibed one handed, his right hand firing indiscriminate phaser bursts behind him as he climbed. The continuing punding of the Sivoan's claws was a testament to his inaccuracy. As he reached the hatch, three pairs of firm hands grabbed him, and hauled him through the door. Martinez, Sloan and Byrne all stood as Tiberian scrabbled around, pulling a flashbang from his vest. He pressed the detonator button and released.
"1, 2..." He dropped it down the hatch, with the close range detonation sending the Sivoan reeling. Regretably the blast was non-leathal, and now the creature would only come back, but angrier. He and Martinez pushed the door closed again, and then they turned back to the group.
"Ok" Tiberian said, wiping beads of sweat from his forehead "That could have gone a little better I guess. This is Ensign Sloan, the Oly's new CEO by the way" He introduced Sloan, who waved. "So, getting to the transmitter array doesn't seem to be an option any more" He drew his tricorder and scanned this deck, seeing what their next plan of action was. "Hey...I've got an idea. Gentlemen" He addressed Byrne, Fox and Sloan "If we could get into a shuttle bay, could you get a shuttle working and the bay doors open without compromising the entire station's atmosphere?"

As Tan got all the equipment they may need ready, Smith contacted Sonak ..
=^= Captain Smith to Commodore Reckus =^=
=^= Go ahead Captain =^=
=^= We're moving out now .. We will seal this section once we leave .. I don't want that 'thing' getting in here and undoing all our work =^=
=^= Very well Captain .. Good luck .. Please keep me informed of your progress .. Reckus out =^=
"Ready David ?" Smith said.
"Yes Sir .. I've set the security systems to function through this tricorder." Tan said, handing Smith the piece of equipment, "We can secure this room and control the force-fields with it."
"OK .. Lets go." the Captain said, lifting his phaser rifle ..
The Star bases' internal information systems were inoperative, but the tricorder had a lay-out of the station, and they would use this to get to their objective ...
"This way." Smith said, pointing down the corridor ..
As they moved away, the doors to the power systems closed behind them. Magnetically sealing, it would take an explosion to open them without the correct access codes .. Everywhere was now bathed in light. the red emergency lighting still pulsing to show the way to escape pods and safe area's ..
They had been moving for only ten minutes, when the Olympia's computer spoke quietly into their ear-pieces ..
"CAUTION .. Oxygen levels in the next section are still below required percentage for consciousness."
That stopped them both in their tracks as Smith was about to release the emergency bulkhead ..
"Computer .. Increase oxygen level in the next section .. Repeat as we reach section bulkheads." David said ..
"Confirmed." said the ship as they heard the rush of air ..
"Oxygen is now at specified level .. Bulkhead safety's released." the computer finished as the doors slid aside ...
Both Officers amied their phaser rifles through the ever widening opening. Relieved they had no cause to actually open fire .. The corridor ahead was deserted ..
"Well ....." David said, a wry grin on his face, "One down .. About another hundred to go." ..........

"If we could get into a shuttle bay, could you get a shuttle working and the bay doors open without compromising the entire station's atmosphere?"
Sloan turned the idea over in his head. He looked at Byrne and Fox, clearly both capable officers. Sloan was the first to speak. "I think the hardest part will be getting there in one piece. Barring that, it's possible, I believe. We won't have any trouble with the shuttle, but getting the bay doors open will be a trick. Worst case scenario, we can patch the output from one of the shuttles into the bay's EPS conduits to power them open. Without a field to regulate atmosphere though, we'll have a heck of a time not compromising at least the entire deck."
Sloan looked to Commnders Byrne and Fox. "Any suggestions, gentlemen?"

Slightly lifting his right eyebrow, Byrne attempted to size up this new CEO. Sticking with Wong's commendation of the lad, he flashed a few scenarios thru his head. Most of them played the decompression of the bay and either the station going or being shot out into the inner docking area like a bullet.
But then again, if they dropped the shuttle down into the maintenance bay and evacuated any personnel there, they could fire a few shots thru the bulkhead with the blast shields keeping the integrity of th surrounding area. Problem was how would they get the lift to activate, lowering it into the maintenance bay.
Mentioning his proposal, he was hoping for a miracle answer from the ensign. Listening, he basically knew that this ensign was definitely a go-getter, but not him.
As the main team remained stationed at the entry points to the room, Logan crunched the information with Commander Fox and came to a conclusion. If they severed the main hydraulic line to the lift, they could drop the shuttle, albet a little hard, and spring load the blast shield to close over the hole. Thus allowing the shuttle to punch thru the bulkhead and break free from the station without wiping out a deck.
Only problem was, how to create a vacuum in the bay before firing the phasers. Checking the schematics of the shuttles, he found that all of the shuttles maintained a capacitor battery in the event of main system shutdown and maintaining the computers memory. If they could restart it, they could even use the shuttles shields to extend far enough to force the air from the bay and create a field that would reduce the stress on the hull.

The two Officers had moved through twenty five of the internal emergency bulkheads .. Making sure that everyone they found was still alive and safely unconscious ..
As they reached the twenty sixth bulkhead, Steven began the sequence to open the doors ... Suddenly their ear-pieces sprang to life ..
"CAUTION ... Unidentified life-form within assigned parameters."
Both men stopped .. Tan checked his tricorder .. The alien was only ninety four meters away from them. But more disturbing, it was now on the same level ! ...
"Can we cycle the bulkhead before it reaches us ?" Smith said.
"I seriously doubt it Captain .. We should get to somewhere secure." Tan said, checking his tricorder for a bolt-hole ...
"Distance to Alien life-form now sixty seven meters." Tan's ear-piece informed him.
The Captain was working hard to get the bulkhead opened .. He was watching the one they had just come through, because this needed to be fully closed, before the next in line would open ..
"Distance to Alien life-form now thirty two meters."
The doors at the opposite end of the corridor were still over two meters apart, and closing much slower than both men would have liked ... David noticed a Jeffries tube access only meters away ..
"Captain .. The Jeffries tube will protect us .. We can get in there and come ba ......"
"Get in there David .. !" Smith interrupted, "I'll get the doors closed .. No point in us both risking our lives."
"But Sir .. If we bot ....."
"Get in there .. NOW .. Commander .. Thats an order !"
Tan hesitated for a second, then, pushed by Smith, he ran to the Jeffries tube access .. He had just got the hatch open when the Alien smashed against the bulkhead doors at the opposite end of the corridor ..
The scream was horrific ... The alien had seen the two men and needed to get to them !
"Captain .. NOW would be a good time !" Tan shouted ..
Then he heard the doors giving way .. The alien was now within twenty meters of the Officers .. It stood still .. Watching the Humans as they ran toward the only possible escape route .. Then it crouched down, coiling it's powerful leg muscles, much like a domestic cat, preparing to pounce on an unsuspecting mouse .. It tensed itself, then launched toward the humans ...
Steven saw it coming, and knew he didn't have time to enter the Jeffries tube .. He pushed Tan hard, almost causing him to fall, then slammed the hatch shut ! ..........

Crystal was juggling power supplies for the station. If there was anyone in the main engineering levels they might have enough power to restart the main core but Crystal wasn't sure of that.
She was very worried about Captain Smith and Commander Tan, the force fields should keep anything from them but....
She listened as they reported on their position as they moved slowly through the station. Crystal was trying to implement Commander Tan's idea of internal shields however for some reason she couldn't get them to stabalise here. A strange sound came to Crystal's ears: someone was pounding on the door to the computer core...

Snowfall screamed as she bounced off the just closed hatch, clawing at the metal in an attempt to get through it. She had been so close, so close to get her prey and again they escaped her. She screamed again, a high pitched screech that went through marrow and bone, causing both officers on the other side to shudder.
The Sivaoan ran off, her scent having picked up her other prey again. She would make do with them for now. However, when she reached them, a moment of clarity hit her. Making herself as small as possible, sheathing her claws, she krept up to them. "Colonel Wong...," she whispered, pleading as her tail drooped in submission, "please, help me!"
Her ears were lying flat on her head as she krept up to the marine first officer, ignoring the rest of the starfleet officers around her. "Please," she pleaded, "you must help me." She watched as Wong allowed her close, even as he kept his phaser trained on her. She didn't care, all she wanted was help.
Then the entity took over again, colouring her eyes bright red once more. She hissed, unsheathing her claws even as she pounced upon the marine. Her hind claws caught him in his thigh, drawing four, ten centimeter long and bone deep scratches. Her front paw made a long gash across his chest as both fell to the deck.
He fought her with all his might as she clawed, hissed and bit at him before dashing off again. She slumped when a phaser blast caught her in her lower back and she plummeted down the shaft she was about to jump into, coming to a halt on a closed hatch several decks down.

David couldn't believe how fast the Alien was closing the gap between them .. The Jeffries tube was their only means of escape, and, or so he thought, there was no time to get into it in time .. Apparently, he was wrong !
There was a sudden push in the middle of his back and he fell head first into the opening .. Regaining his balance, he turned, just in time to grab the flailing arm of the Captain as he fell past him ..
The strain almost ripped Tan's arm from his shoulder. But the pain was all but forgotten as the two men listened to the screaming on the other side of the closed hatch .. The Alien was seemingly distraught at missing it's prey .. It battered and clawed at the hatch for almost five minutes, before finally giving up ...
Both Officer's listened in silence, neither daring to speak ... Tan pointed to the tricorder. It had fallen the the deck below them .. Smith climbed down and retrieving the instrument, passed it up to Tan .. It was still working .. Tapping his Comms badge, he contacted the Olympia ..
=^= Computer .. Location of Alien life-form =^=
=^= Alien life-form is at a distance of eighty seven meters .. It is currently three levels below your current location =^=
"We need to get moving." the Captain whispered.
Tan nodded, moving to the hatch, but it wouldn't open ...
"There's something wrong .. I can't get it open .. It must have been damaged when that 'thing' tried to get at us !" he said.
Smith was looking up and down the Jeffries tube, seemingly weighing up their options ..
"We'll go down .. Then get back up to this level as soon as we reach another access."
Climbing down the ladder, they exited the Jeffries tube on the deck below .. Opening the hatch slowly, the two stepped into the corridor. It was obviously one that wasn't receiving full power, as only sixty percent of the lighting was operating. But there was more than enough for them to move by, though Tan kept looking behind him for fear of being surprised ..
There were both Officer's and Civilian's, all unconscious on this level, and thankfully, all unarmed .. It confirmed their reasoning that the Alien either couldn't track or simply ignored anyone not in an awakened state ..
Reaching another Jeffries tube, the two began the climb back to their original level .. Both hoping they could reach the docking area power supply room without further incident ..
'Not that hoping usually worked' Tan thought to himself as he climbed ..........
