"Enisgn Sloan, if you would care to come up with some sort of restraining device. I don't trust the brig alone to hold our lady friend here once she comes to"
Tiberian turned to Doctor D'Angelo before Sloan could reply with an "aye sir". It didn't irk him. The raspy breathing of a furry demoness, however, put him highly on edge. The air stunk with sweat and the acrid odor of burned hair.
"Any recommendation on some sort of restraint, Doctor?"
D'Angelo looked wearily in Sam's direction. "Start with strong ensign. Work from there."
"Aye aye, Doc." Who could blame the medical man for his ire: this had been about the worst day imaginable. The Ensign's ears perked as he made his first move. He grabbed a plasma torch and stray cargo ties, and made his way to way to the slumbering cat creature, still sprawled on the cargo bay floor.
Step one was to fuse the tie-ends of the cargo straps, so as to arrange a sort of makeshift set of shackles, and connected the beast's ankles and wrists behind it's back.
"Tiberian?" The Lieutenant Colonel looked at Sam, who held a plasma torch in one hand, and one of the Sivoan's paws in the other. "What do you say we clip this cats claws?"

Steve slowly opened his eyes and proceeded to stare at the ceiling for a few moments. He looked down towards his body and noticed he was lying on a bed of some sort. Looking around the room, he saw that it was Sickbay, so he surmised that it was a biobed that he was perched upon.
The pain in his head had gone, and there was a lot of pain, so he was grateful for that. Steve didn't remember much about what was happening, but he did know that his head had collided will the walls on no less than 3 occasions. How he got to sickbay, or even how he was treated was something he currently did not know. The entire area was empty.
"Ok, best bet would have been the EMH." He told himself, seeing if he could remember anything else about the mission. Steve swung his legs off the bed and attempted to stand up.....and promptly fell to the floor.
"What is it with me these days?" He said, in mock anger. "Note to self: next time, wait for the blood to flow to legs before attempting to stand."
Steve tried standing again, with success this time. He took a few paces around sickbay, and then a thought occurred to him. His last coherent thought was that Commander Tan was with him, so it seemed logical that he would know what was going on. Steve tapped his combadge,
=/\= Smith to Tan. David, I appear to be in Sickbay with no sign of anyone else around. Would you mind telling me what's going on? =/\=

Crystal heard rasping words that sent a shiver down her spine and made her touch her bruised face again. She heard phaser fire and a pushed herself to her feet. Her tricorder screen showed that Ako had stopped moving. She hadn't seen who had shot the Trill but he was definitely unconscious now. Part of her wanted to celebrate that she had made the knock-out compound correctly but the rest of her was just too tired.
The Commodore seemed a little breathless but otherwise unhurt she was even smiling slightly. Crystal moved to stand next to one of the marines. She looked at the unconscious Trill and swallowed hard. He looked so harmless now, despite the still active laser scalpel in his hand. She carefully rechecked her tricorder readings, he was definitely out cold and would likely be remaining that way for some time. She bent and pulled the scalpel from his hand, she shut it off and looked at the device in silence for a moment.
She stood up and stepped backwards to lean against a wall. "I'm pretty sure he won't be bothering us again for a while. I guess we ought to get him to a sickbay"

She stood with her back against the bulkhead, her eyes closed as she had felt the warmth coming from the laser scalpel coming closer. Sonak was unarmed and there was nothing she could do against the Trill, since she couldn't quite see where he was standing. She could, of course take a guess but that would be wasted time.
She heard a shot being fired and a thud before her as Ako collapsed at her feet. Lights shone in her direction as Rose, An, Larok and the marine contingent approached. She watched with clinical detachement as Rose knelt down and confirmed that the Trill was unconscious. She barely heard the communication coming from Wong, reporting that Snowfall was also unconscious.
"Ma'am?" one of the marines asked, shaking her to get her attention. Apparently, he'd been calling her name quite a few times now. "Colonel Wong requires a response," he insisted.
Nodding, she tapped her combadge. "Wong this is Reckus," she spoke, annoyed at the fact that her voice was shaking. "We have detained Warrant Officer Ako and will be transporting him to sickbay using my intrastation transport. Lights are coming back online just now." She squinted against the sudden brightness of the corridor's ilumination. "Meet us there," she ordered, after specifying which sickbay they would be taking Ako to.
"An, Larok, carry Mr Ako between yourselves, but secure him. Bind his hands and legs, we do not want him to regain consciousness and escape or hurt us." She turned to Rose. "I would be grateful for your assistance," she added, as she limped forward, showing the science officer a deep cut on her leg. "I got caught on a ledge here in the corridor when he jumped me. Even if I had needed to run I would have been unable to. Until he was shot, Mr Ako had me pinned."
~later~ Sonak gazed down on Ako's unconscious form, then looked sideways to Snowfall's equally prone form. "They will be held accountable for murdering several starfleet officers," she stated, "but they were possessed and probably were not doing this on their own free will. I am certain Starbase doctors will be able to cure them. Both are valuable to this station when they are themselves."
The Vulcan turned to Wong. "Thank you for keeping my crew safe colonel," she started, looking him over. "Though I see you did not come out of the fight unscathed. Has my doctor been too hard on you?" She shot a sideways mock-glare at D'Angelo, but she smiled at him ever so slightly. "Doctor, I believe your expertise is needed," she continued, "though the colonel may appear in good spirits and health I can see the opposite is in effect. And I need a dermal regenerator and a dose of Cordrazine.
Rose stood beside her, still supporting her. Sonak nodded to the younger woman to go meet with her crewmates, remaining unsupported as she went. There, she waited for D'Angelo and Wong to respond. "Were there any more injuries?" she asked, looking around. "Where are Logan and Fox?"

David watched the readouts change, in rapid succession now, as the massive Star base regained her power, and along with it, the ability to defend and protect herself ..
Shields were snapping into place all over the base, effectively separating it into dozens of sections .. But more worrying was the fact it was also blocking communication between 'it' and the ships docked or orbiting ..
He resigned himself to the fact there didn't seem much else he, or the Olympia could do to help. Suddenly his Comm chirped ...
=^= Smith to Tan .. David .. I appear to be in Sickbay with no sign of anyone else around .. Would you mind telling me what's going on? =^=
=^= Captain . You are awake .. Good .. I'll come down there and bring you up to date =^=
=^= No .. I'm able to walk now .. Although it was touch and go for a moment .. I will meet you on the Bridge shortly .. Smith out =^=
The Comm closed, so David sat and waited for Smith to arrive ... Stepping off the turbo-lift, a little shakily, he looked at the image of the Star base on screen, then almost slumped into his Command seat ..
"What's happening over there David ?" the Captain asked, nodding in the direction of the screen, and the base herself ..
Tan spent the next twenty minutes bringing the Captain up to speed on the situation .. Hoping he could come up with a way of getting a comm signal through to Commodore Sonak, otherwise they were at a stalemate ..
Once he finished his report, Tan waited as Steven absorbed the given information, glad his Captain was well, or as well as could be expected given the circumstances .. Captain Smith would need to go back to Sick-bay, once Doctor Mallen was back on board, but the EMH had done a good job of getting him to his feet, and with a little luck, he would still be on them at the conclusion of the current situation ..........

Crystal was leaning against the corridor wall trying to get her heart rate to calm down while Sonak gave out some orders to the others, she called her over.
"I would be grateful for your assistance," Sonak said, Crystal noticed that she was walking with a noticable limp. "I got caught on a ledge here in the corridor when he jumped me. Even if I had needed to run I would have been unable to. Until he was shot, Mr Ako had me pinned."
"Of course," Crystal walked quickly to the Vulcan's side, the height difference between them meant Sonak could put her arm around Crystal's shoulder's without difficulty.
They all reached the designated sickbay without further trouble although Crystal still felt jumpy. She looked at the two possessed victims strapped to bio-beds and her heart rate finally started to return to normal
"but they were possessed and probably were not doing this on their own free will. I am certain Starbase doctors will be able to cure them. Both are valuable to this station when they are themselves." Crystal nodded at Sonak's words. It made sense, she certainly wanted to see these two returned to their normal selves, she really didn't want to see them possessed and concious again.
The doctors set to work on Sonak and Tiberian, although to be fair the Commodore was doing a lot of her own treatment; Crystal went over to see Tiberian and the young Ensign Sloan. She was pleased to see her crewmates again.
"Hi guys," she said with a the start of a smile that then made her wince a little. She looked at Tiberian who seemed on the verge of arguing with a doctor. "Good to see you again. Let's not do this again."
<Tiberian>
"I gather you're the Olympia's new Cheif Engineer, it's good to meet you. I'm Crystal Rose, CScO"
<Ensign Sloan>
"Were there any more injuries?" Sonak asked,. Crystal shook her head "I think I'm just bruised. nothing serious. I imagine it looks worse than it feels." She glanced around guessing that others were more injured than her.
"Where are Logan and Fox?" The Commodore asked.
"I think they said they were in the shuttle bay..." Crystal said.

The Commodore’s words burned like fire in Ako’s ears. An listened to Ako’s self-mutilation, tearing at his own flesh.
“I may not be able to win here today,” he rasped, “but neither will you!” Time stopped. The ensign knew he only had one chance. An pivoted on his right heel, coming into the middle of the entryway. He aimed his phaser with his leaping target, barely trailing Ako’s lunge through the corridor.
Ako landed as An’s phaser lined with his chest. Ako’s scalpel rose to Sonak’s neck. An felt his blazing crimson eyes beginning to burrow into his faith. Softly, An thumbed his phaser.
The beam, narrowly missing Sonak, caught Ako in his chest, sending him against the bulkhead, falling to a heap at Sonak’s feet. An fell forward on his knees in relief as Rose and Larok checked on the shaken Commodore.
"Thank you, Abba," An whispered.

If Marco weren't a doctor, and bound to doing no harm, his first suggestion would be to kill it. That will surely get the demons out of it. Good sense always prevailed with the Doctor, no matter how unlikely it seemed it would. Alice handed a tricorder to the Doctor, who ran it past the feline.
"This is an engineering tricorder." Marco forgot that they were short supplied still. He wasn't complaining this time, just making an observation.
"Interesting. It seems there are brain wave patters that have superimposed themselves onto the feline."
"You can tell she was infected by an alien from an engineering tricorder?" Martinez said skeptically.
"No - I can tell that because of the way she is behaving. And I never said anything about an alien." The tricorder beaped a few times as he passed it over Snowfall. "She's going to be out for quite awhile. This is barely registering a pulse."

Squatting down on the hanger deck, Logan pulled a pen and started drawing an escape route to the primary couplings in the Main Core to restart the main functions with in the Starbase.
Listening to the intermitted chatter across the comm, Byrne gathered Fox and Hendrix and entered the Jefferies tubes to the station's core reactor. About halfway there, he heard a faint response about the two predators being detained and the main command personnel being rerouted to Sickbay.
Openning the last hatch, he put his arm out to keep the other two from falling into the abyss in front of them. Reaching around to his right, Byrne activated the core lift system and brought the lift to their level.
Dropping his bag, he pulled out a small case that resembled the power core of the shuttle they just left behind. Inside was the actual core of a new prototype system that he had picked up in the Engineering section prior to this mission. Thinking to himself, at least he loved his new toys. But hated to part with them.
As they dropped down to the Main Engineering level, they jumped off the lift and headed to their perspective consoles. Lifting the case into the prime plasma conduit above the Main Core, Logan activated the case, as Commander Fox activated the fusion generators creating a new static warp core to power the staion's systems.
monitoring the console, Hendrix nodded to byrne and gave the thumb's up signal that the station's system were being powered. Heading out, Byrne commanded the Minerva Module to end regular pulses to the new core to stabilize it. Enetering the turbolift, they proceded to the main Sickbay to regroup with the rest of the senior staff.

Enetering the turbolift, they proceded to the main Sickbay to regroup with the rest of the senior staff. No-one was paying attention when they were entering sickbay, all were busy in a discussion. Fox picked up that they were discussing where he, Byrne and Hendrix could be. Fox smiled faintly and announced. "They're right here." The discussion stopped as people turned around. This also displayed the restrained Ako and Snowfall on 2 biobeds.

"Glad you could join us commander," Sonak smiled as she indicated both Fox and Byrne, "we were just wondering where you were. Captain Smith and Commander Tan are safe aboard the Olympia. I have spoken to them earlier."
She turned, motioning towards both unconscious patients. "Starbase medical staff will take care of them from now on, as we all have duties to attend to soon enough." The Vulcan nodded towards Wong. "I am certain that Captain Smith will require your presence aboard the Olympia for a debriefing," she suggested. "I propose we meet back here, all of us, on the station to share a toast before new orders come in."
~a few hours later~
Both crew stood gathered in the Crab Shack, the venue where their adventure had begun several days ago. Sonak was pleased to see that they didn't stand sorted by crew but rather had mingled amonst themselves. Sonak herself stood beside Steven Smith, and handed him a drink. She couldn't begrudge him the fact that he'd rather have stayed aboard the Olympia, but she'd made it clear that coming here was not a request this time. She wanted all of the senior staff present.
"To the crews of the Olympia and the Vesuvius," Sonak called, after gaining everyone's attention by tapping the side of her glass. "Once again we have proven that working together is essential to getting things done when we are trapped in a tough situation. Special mention goes to Commander David Tan. Not only was he tasked with keeping his captain safe, he also managed to re-establish communications between two groups of officers, who were located on different sides of the station."
Sonak raised her glass to Tan. "That was quick and smart thinking commander, using the separate modules of both ships. Additional commendations go to Colonel Wong for subdueing our Sivaoan friend, as well as Commander Rose. She showed a fair amount of calm and wit in a very dangerous situation. Naturally, everone deserves some mention but I believe these people performed above and beyond the call of duty. Lastly, I would like to mention Doctor D'Angelo. I understand this mission has been specifically tough on him, though I have yet to hear the specifics."
She raised her glass again, then finally sipped it. She had ordered a mild champaign, something she could actually tolerate as long as she didn't consume too many of them. "To future relations," she added, "may our paths cross again."

Tiberian smiled as Crystal came over to see him, shaking his head politely as he laughed at her comment.
"You really have no sense of fun do you Crystal. A couple of near death experiences are just the thing to keep you healthy. Too much mundane work depresses the soul. Trust me, until something like this happens again, you will be bored"
He chuckled to himself as he turned to face Katie, who had brought him a large glass of cider.
"I thought patients shouldn't drink in their weakened state" He joked as he drank deeply from the glass.
"Doctor's orders" she replied drily as she scanned his leg with her tricorder. "There's no lasting damage, but I wouldn't do anything over vigorous until the ligament has healed properly. I'm putting you on restricted duties for a week. And I'll be checking on you every morning and evening, so don't try and get around it"
"I take it that's your way of saying yes" Tiberian smiled at her, pulling her clsoe to him with his free arm.
"I want at least half of your wardrobe space, and I hate spicy food" she replied simply, kissing him on the forehead.
~The Crab Shack~
Tiberian raised his glass, funnily enough, still the one from sickbay in response to the Commodore's toast.
"Indeed Commodore, and may the next time we meet be on a very sunny planet, with no jeffries tubes, plenty of light, and no damn cats"
He drank deeply, and then pressed a few keys on a console next to him. Music began to play in the bar.
"I don't suppose anyone knows how to dance to the macerana?"

A BELLICOSE SICKBAY
"You really have no sense of fun do you Crystal. A couple of near death experiences are just the thing to keep you healthy. Too much mundane work depresses the soul. Trust me, until something like this happens again, you will be bored" Crystal laughed at Tiberian's words. In a sense she agreed with them but rather than getting attacked and threatened she preferred to get her new experiences from a new discovery.
Crystal still felt more than a little dazed, she ended up chatted to several other people before finally leaving sickbay.
LATER: THE CRAB SHACK Crystal sipped at the champagne distractedly as she listened to the Commodore's words. She was grateful to see her Captain back on his feet and had caught a few hours sleep but she still didn't feel quite herself.
Crystal joined the cheering as Tiberian's and then David's achievements were mentioned. She then broke into a blush as the Commodore went on to praise her.
She managed to hold herself together enough not to choke on her drink when Sonak mentioned Marco's stressful time. She was very glad her had looked after everyone in the other group on the station but strongly suspected that her XO had been one of the main causes of the doctpor's stress.
"To future relations," Sonak added, "may our paths cross again." Crystal raised her glass in toast. She was about to make a comment but Tiberian got there first.
"Indeed Commodore, and may the next time we meet be on a very sunny planet, with no jeffries tubes, plenty of light, and no damn cats"
"I second the lack of jefferies tubes," Crystal said "And I'll add no ladders. Maybe" she continued with a half smile "we could finish the lab tour sometime?"
Sonak smiled back. "Perhaps another time, when both ships are docked again. Then we shall continue our exploration of the science laboratories," she promised.
