When Ensign Wigram talked to Nika she thought briefly about what he said. He didn't seem to know what had happened to Ensign Daniels, but Nika had heard engineering wasn't able to lock onto her signal, otherwise Nika would have beamed Dr. Daniels up at the first hint of trouble. The Victory was still wary of the Klingons, but Nika was willing to lower the ship's shields for the moment it would be necessary to use the transporters. If only they were working. “Can you get transporters functional?” Nika asked.
</\>I'll work on it,</\> Ensign Wigram replied.
</\>Thank you,</\> Nika said.
She then received a communication from Doctor Daniels herself. The words seemed to assure Nika that there was nothing wrong, while actually telling her that not only was something wrong but that Dr. Daniels was either being overheard or afraid of being overheard.
</\>Understood,</\> Nika said, in her usual terse fashion. Her voice sounded convinced by the facade the doctor was giving off, but worried because she was a Captain whose ship had just been attacked. </\>I'm relieved to hear you're fine</\> Nika added, not because she meant it. She would have been happy if Kaylee actually was doing fine, but that wasn't the case. And Nika wouldn't normally say such a thing, but she was worried that if Dr. Diego thought Nika wasn't convinced the scientist would hurt Ensign Daniels, if she hadn't already.
The channel was closed, and Nika immediately started talked to engineering again. </\>How long until transporters are working.</\>
</\>Just a—We can get a lock on Ensign Daniels signature now</\> came the reply.
</\>Good,</\> Nika answered. </\>Transport her up.</\>
</\>Understood.</\>
Nika did a quick mental calculation about the likelihood of the Klingons to attack in the near future and the fact that the transporter room was only five decks up. “Commander Rylka, you have the bridge,” Nika said, then left to quickly take the turbolift down.
She arrived in transporter room 2 a little bit after Ensign Daniels had finished materializing. “Are you all right?” Nika asked. She could tell the doctor seemed a little startled to see her there, but Nika didn't give her a chance to say anything about it.

Diego didn't look happy at all, and Kaylee wondered what was going to happen to her. It didn't look good. Two of Diego's men were advancing with the look of hate in their eyes. Suddenly she felt funny, and realized she was being beamed away from this. Relief over took Lee, and she didn't care where it was she was being transported to.
Lee found she was back in the tranporter room, and seeing the officer behind the console, she realized this was the Victory. The man came around and seeing her tied up, he started to untie her.
The captain came a bit later, and Kae was happy to be out of the ropes and back on the ship.
"Yes captain, I am fine. They didn't harm me, but if you had waited a couple of seconds on that I might have been harmed," she said quickly not wanting to have to go to sickbay. Kae trusted her staff, but she didn't want to be a patient.
"Yes ma'am, a walk is just what I need," Kae said as they left the transporter room. She put her hands behind her back showing the captain some respect.
"Wigram and I were shown to where we would be working. I had one of them sitting down and going through a physical, then I asked Wigram to get the person we passed in the hall to give him a little room to explore. He hadn't left but a couple of minutes when I needed something from the medkit I had taken with me. I had my back to the guy behind me when I felt something pressed to my neck. I realized it was a hypospray, and everything went black," Kae said taking a breath before continuing.
"I woke startled, and was about to open my eyes when I heard a couple of men talking. One of them meantioned something about killing some guy. I realized I had been kidnapped, and did my best to make it look like I was still out cold. Dr. Diego came in, and she talked to one of the guys. She then noticed something about me, and took both of us down waking Wigram. I then opened my eyes. Wigram escaped, and she then said she was going to contact you. Diego told me I was to cooperate, and I agreed hoping you would get suspicious. You did, and now I am here with you again," she finished. Kae smiled.
"I couldn't be more happy to be back here, and to see you again."

The conversation had taken to long, she had known that, but when she saw the beginnings of a transport she screamed out in anger. Their shields must of been broken through, something she knew would happen eventually.
"Do we have any weapons that will hurt that ship?" Lillian asked knowing that they didn't have anything that would scratch the hull. She now knew that there would be no way she would escape without the help of the Klingons. She was weary about this, but it was now up to them to help her.
"Contact the Klingons," Lillian said.
"What do you want?" the Klingon commander asked.
"If you destroy the Victory I will double your shipment free of charge," Lillian said
"Understood," the Klingon responded.

Nika nodded as she listened to Daniels as the doctor finally reached the important part of her account of what had happened. It seemed that they know had enough evidence to be able to detain Dr. Diego and keep her in the brig. But while Nika was willing to lower the shields and momentarily risk the ship to rescue a member of the crew she didn't want to expose the Victory to the Klingons just to arrest some errant scientists.
Nika wasn't paying attention completely to the doctor, she had to admit to herself, and was more than a little startled by Daniel's finishing words. “Erm,” she felt the word leave her throat before she could stop them, and was almost frozen by the unfamiliarity of hearing it in her own voice. Theoretically filler words were a simple enough concept, and she'd heard other people use them scores of times since she left her home planet. But Nika usually used silence to fill the usual role of little noises. Except for now, for some reason, the word had slipped out of her. “Thanks,” she forced herself to say, trying not to add much more silence to the filler word. “It's good having you back safe.”
At that point Nika re-entered the bridge, with Dr. Daniels still at her side, but suddenly looking uncertain as to what to do now. “Feel free to sit in Lt. Kane's seat,” Nika said softly, gesturing to the counselor's chair. Kane was currently busy with a patient, so his chair was unoccupied.
Nika had only been on the bridge a few seconds when the problems started to hit her.
“The Klingons are powering up their weapons again,” Commander Matthews said.
“Fire at them,” Nika said, and the shots were exchanged, causing the Victory to shake slightly, and causing the Klingon ship considerably more damage.
“They're going to fire again,” Lt. Roberts warned.
“Can you disable them?” Nika asked.
“We run a high risk of destroying them if we try,” Marine Captain Nokomis informed her.
Nika glanced at her first officer, Commander Rylka, and could tell that she didn't like that idea. Nika wasn't overly fond of it herself, but the Victory was starting to run out of options. Nika didn't know why the Klingon ship was suddenly attacking them, since when she had left the bridge the Klingons had seemed contented to wait to be escorted back to Klingon space. But something had changed, and there wasn't time for anyone who had been on the bridge to tell Nika about the intercepted communication between the Klingon ship and the science colony.

*Tiffani had leaned forward in her seat as the klingon ship begin firing on them once more, she listened to the Captain as she gave her orders, then something crossed her mind, she wasn't sure how or why but she suddenly could understand or atleast thought she might understand why they was attacking*
Captain, It is possible that the klingons were offered a better deal if we were say dead, Klingons do love fighting *She frowned, remembering the one she dated back in her younger years* they would rather fight for honor and death then walk away alive *she said* So it is possible that they took a bargain that they couldn't refuse. *she finished waiting to hear from the Captain or any of the officers on the ship*

Kae realized she had alienated the captain with her last sentence, but they arrived on the bridge before she could say much more. With the invitation to stay, she did so realizing this was the first time being on the bridge more than five minutes.
Kae noticed they were being attacked as she sat down, and wondered how many there would be hurt in this. She hit her commbadge.
=^=Daniels to Sickbay, we are in a battle. Be prepared for any incoming wounded.=^=
Kae wanted to stay and watch this scene unfold, but she wondered if she should get back to sickbay. She decided to stay a bit longer hoping they would call her if she was really needed.
Kae heard the commander's suggestion. "I agree with that. If they are working with the colony, then its possible those on the colony recommended an offer they couldn't refuse."

Wigram was at his station in sickbay when the attack started. He had made the usual changes to the power distribution, power was directed to shields and weapons.
During battle all the ship has to be checked, as power faliure would mean certain defeat. The shields were undamaged, and phasers as usual took even more power as the Victory was on the offensive.
Suddenly the power usage decreased. Nothing was being used. All was quiet. Wigram directed his deputy to take over engineering while he went to the bridge to the Engineering station.
Once he got to the bridge he could see all the crew looking about. There was a Klingon ship on the viewscreen. Also the Commanding Officer and the First Officer were talking about the situation.
The Captain aknowleged the arrival of the CEO. He checked all connections to the Engineering department were sutible.

The Victory had reached a very temporary cease-fire with the Klingons, and Nika listened to what everyone had said. She agreed with Commander Rylka that the Klingons weren't likely to just stop on their own. Which meant Nika had to at least try to get to the source of the problem. “See if you can keep the Klingons away from us for a while,” Nika ordered Lt. Roberts.
“Yes sir,” he replied
“Avoid destroying them if you can,” Nika said. She didn't want anyone to be blown up unnecessarily today.
Nika then nodded in Commander Matthew's direction, she didn't like the situation any more than he seemed to do, something just wasn't quite right here. “Contact the science base,” Nika ordered.
“Game's up,” Nika said when Dr. Diego appeared on the screen. “Call the Klingons off,” she said, staring at Dr. Diego, forcing the scientist to meet her eyes. Then she stepped aside a step, showing that Dr. Daniels was here safe, and showing Dr. Diego that Nika knew the story.

Her game was up, she had been discovered, but she would not go without fighting.
"Transport my people to your ship," Lillian said," thy had nothing to do with this. They are innocent"
<Tag Nika>
"Do not transport me yet, I will need to get rid of all my work," Lillian said," I will not allow the Klingons to get there hands on them." She immediately cut off the transmission and cried in anguish. Her father had always taught her not to cry, but for the first time she realized that everything that she had was gone. Hopefully Starfleet would recognize her expertise and allow her to continue her research.
"Go, be safe," Lillian said to her friends and collegues. Before she would be taken into custody, she would destroy the pigs that caused her downfall.
"Commander, I'm sending you the first shipment," Lillian said as she began the transport.
"Captain Cir'Kem, I recommend that you transport me to the brig and warp out of here," Lillian said," there is going to be a nova blast in two minutes."
She gave a look around her colony one more time. Her tears, blood, and sweat would never stain this ground again. Then in a flash, she was gone and a Federation brig.

“They had nothing to do with this. They are innocent.”
“Fine,” Nika said. She was, of course, going to beam all the scientists to the brig, she fairly certain others of the scientists had been involved, and even if they hadn't they were still likely to try to break Dr. Diego out. That was one of the disadvantages of loyalty. Nika thought a little more about the idea though, and she wasn't entirely sure it was the best. Dr. Diego closed the channel, then, and Nika turned quickly to Lt. Roberts, knowing there might not be much time before the scientists on the surface were ready to transport up.
“How many security officers do you have available?” Nika asked him.
He quoted a number, but mentioned that it was an approximation. Nika frowned, there didn't seem to be enough officers then to do exactly what she wanted. “Nokomis, do you have available marine officers?”
“Yes,” the Marine Captain replied.
With the numbers Nokomis added Nika felt sure there would be enough people to keep the scientists elsewhere from the brig. “As soon as the scientists beam up have them confined to temporary quarters,” Nika ordered, and Lt. Roberts and Marine Captain Nokomis left the bridge to make arrangements to do so.
Nika tapped her commbadge. </\>Nika to Lieutenant Tallows</\>
</\>Tallows here.</\> came the voice of the transporter chief.
</\>Prepare to lock onto all the scientist's signals except Dr. Diego's for now. Shields will be lowered momentarily</\>
</\>Yes sir.</\>
Nika then turned to look at the operations chief. “Can you make sure we don't get any uninvited gifts beamed onto the Victory from the Klingons while our shields are lowered?” she asked.
“No problem.”
“Thank you,”she replied.
“Lower shields, transport them up,” Nika ordered. That had barely happened when Dr. Lillian Diego indicated she was ready to be beamed up. Nika had only let the scientist do it because she understood the necessity of not just handing over the research to the Klingons, even if that had been what Dr. Diego had originally planned.
"Captain Cir'Kem, I recommend that you transport me to the brig and warp out of here," the scientist said," there is going to be a nova blast in two minutes."
Nika sent the order on to Lt. Tallows, as she thought about what to do about the next decision. Nika knew she had to decide quickly anyway. “Can we transport the Klingon crew to the Victory?” she asked, hoping someone would have an answer.
“No,” came the quick answer. “Not in time.”
Nika understood. “Then as soon as we're out of the gravitational effect of Vyimi set a course for Assailant, warp 8.” Nika wasn't happy about the decision she had made, but it was either the Klingon ship be blown up or the Klingon ship and the Victory get blown up. Of the two situations, losing the Klingons was the better one. At least marginally so.
Nika had a sudden urge to go down to the brig and yell at Dr. Diego, get the scientist to see what she had done was wrong. But Nika knew that wouldn't help, and she knew that she had things she needed to do on the bridge. The ship went to warp, and a few moments later Nika felt the ship shake a little, caught by the shockwave of destruction. Lt. Arika managed to stabilize the ship, and Nika sat down in her chair, forcing herself to accept that she couldn't change what had happened now.
“How long will it be until we arrive at Assailant?” she asked Lt. Arika and nodded at the reply.
OOC: And that's an end to the mission.
