Melain stood, not knowing what to do, she seemed to remember learning that the second in command could leave the Bridge even if the Captain was not present, so either she was mistaked or the Commander was being difficult. "I would preform the tests, but I am not sure what to be looking for. Dr. Black only told me to come and get you. Let me ask him." "She commed her Instructer.
=A= "Dr. Black, This is Cadet Lorre. Commander Hope refuses to leave the bridge untill the Captain returns. She has suggested I preform the tests here, but I do not have a medical kit. What do you suggest?"

Marcell: Doctor, I am busy. Some other time.
Black: Captain, this is important. I need to examine you and Commander Hope as soon as possible.
Jason: =/\= That you wait until the Captain returns. Commander, we cannot perform the tests on the Bridge. It involves some very complicated scans, which can't be performed by a tricorder. The only place I can do them is in Sickbay. We've found some significant effects among some of the crew we've examined so far, and it is important that we examine you, and the Captain.
<S'reena>
Jason: Captain, I ask that you stay here and allow me to perform the tests on you, given Commander Hope's adamancy.

Melain felt embarrassed about having to ask Dr. Black for help, she should have been able to deal with Commander S'reena on her own. Then again by the way the rest of the bridge crew was watching, she geussed that S'reena's sick bay problems were not new, so she decided to stay on the Bridge and escort the Commander to Sick bay when the Captain returned.
"I'll stay here and we can go to sick bay together." she tried hard not to smile, but was sure a slight shine did appear on her face. Looking around she noticed Frek learning the helm controls and YrDis still watching her

Having a very hard time keeping a straight face, Tony was thourougly enjoying listening to the cadet explain S'reena's stubbornness. She'd exhaust every regulation she could find, real or fake, to avoid coming down here.
"Captain, I ask that you stay here and allow me to perform the tests on you, given Commander Hope's adamancy." Jason said to him. Tony considered the doctor for a moment.
"Please make it quick, doctor." He moved toward a biobed and sat down, before tapping his combadge, "Marcell to the bridge. Cmdr. S'reena, I will be on the bridge in a few minutes. The Doctor would like to run some scans. In the meantime, please order Cadet Thelev to set a course for Jesin, warp 7."
"Understood, S'reena out." Came the reply.
"Doctor." Tony said looking at Jason. Black gave a small smile and flipped open his medical tricorder before beginning.

<OOC: sorry about the delay, I'm running on Australian time.>
[Warp and Impulse diagnostics are complete]
"Commander S'Reena, we are good to go." Owen said, hoping that this was acceptable. As he said this he finally noticed that there was another cadet on the bridge, besides himself and Frek. ~I wonder if she's doing a command training cruise.~ he thought to himself as he got back to the job at hand.
Looking over at the bridge's science console, he didn't see anyone working there. ~Great there's no one at science, and I didn't bother to check who the science instructor was.~
"Cmdr. Blayne, I am unsure as to who the Science Instructor is. Who would I be getting in contact with?"

<I'm the former science officer...since we appear to have none *it was vendrak* I'll double on science....> *gee thanks bethany, now these cadets will think me a monster:p *sticks tongue out**
S'reena nodded. "By all means Mr Johnson, plot a course for Jessin, ahead warp factor 5 after leaving spacedock."
She noticed that Lorre was still standing beside her. "Are you just going to stand there until the captain arrives?" she asked, "do sit down. You've only got two legs and one back, and they'll have to last you the rest of your life. However, you can wait as long as you like, I am not going to sickbay."
Within 5 minutes, Marcell re-appeared on the bridge and S'reena relinguished the centre seat to him, seating herself to his right. "Course plotted and laid in for Jessin captain," she reported, "we're currently traveling at warp 5." She ignored the glance that he shot her, knowing full well that now that he was back it was her turn to report to sickbay.
She also knew, that she would stall that as long as possible; she would not go without a direct order from either CO or CMO.

Stardate 910114.52 Personal log Cadet Frek Thelev.
Been a while since I made an entry. Actually I haven’t made an entry since I left the Academy on Earth. It has been a quite agreeable time. Some minor events not taken in account. Such as the transport which got me on the Conqueror two weeks ago. Unfortunately I passed the deadline for reporting in with about two days. Maybe I can get engineering to fix my alarm clock, so this won’t happen again. Anyway, the Academy commandant was quite reasonable and let me go with a warning. He clearly understood the hardships of being a Starfleet cadet. From then on it was more or less killing time until Hanson would set sail. Navy terms are strange in space. They should have invented new terms.
I actually had the chance to meet some of the instructors on the holodeck the other day. Quite nice of them to let me join in. The ships doctor almost killed me. I always thought doctors had to take an oath not harm other living beings. On the other hand, he is Human. They’ve always been a bit weird. Thank the gods for holodeck safety protocols and my swift reaction abilities. If I knew what kind of programme it was I wouldn’t have butted in, but it seemed rude to leave right after they let me in. It was a really weird gig. Battling strange beings, that sort of stuff. Physically very exhausting. Not my idea of relaxing. Met one of the other cadets on the holodeck as well, Melain Lorre, a Bajoran. She seems quite nice. Haven’t got the chance to really talk to her though.
We had to report on the Hanson today. Didn’t even had the time to accommodate my stuff. The captain had us report to out instructors almost right away. He’s part Klingon, they probably enjoy that sort of things. He seems okay though. And can you believe it? The bloody turbolift was broken, so I had to go through quite some hardship to reach the bridge. I think I made a good time though. Nobody complained me being late. I still wonder if I should report the broken lift.
We finally headed out. To Jessin. I’ve never heard of the place, so how excited can it be? It was quite cool. Lt. Gordon, the CNO instructor, actually let me to take the ship out of dock and get us underway. We’re doing a steady warp 5 at the moment and all’s going smoothly.
End personal log.

Jason first scanned Marcell with the peripheral and checked his body temperature. It was just as he suspected.
Jason: Alright, Captain, for the next tests I need you sitting on a biobed.
Marcell: Very well.
They both proceeded over to a biobed. Marcell sat down. Jason walked over and retrieved a hypospray and came back. Marcell looked at the hypospray.
Jason: Blood sample. Theres a genetic test I need to perform.
Marcell nodded and Jason took the blood sample.
Jason: Computer, run a cellular bio-scan. You'll need to remain still for this, Captain.
*****A few minutes later*****
Computer: Cellular bio-scan complete.
Jason: That's it. We're done.
Marcell nodded, and left Sickbay. Jason walked over to his Office.
Jason: Computer, track Captain Marcell. I want to know when he is sitting in his chair.
Computer: Acknowledged.
Jason then walked over to the far end of Sickbay and inserted the blood sample into a scanner.
Jason: Computer, analyze genetic sample. Confirm presence of the mutation.
Computer: Working.
Jason heard the console in his Office beep, and went to check. Marcell was in his chair. Commander Hope had no excuses now.
Computer: Genetic analysis complete. Genetic mutation detected.
Jason: =/\= Sickbay to Commander Hope. I know that the Captain is now sitting in his Chair, and you therefore you have no excuses. If you would, please report to Sickbay. Lorre, make sure she gets here. =/\=

"Commander Hope will be filling the position of Science officer for now, Cadet. She will be able to bring you up to date on any ongoing projects aboard the Hanson that will require ship resources." Johnson nodded and turned back to the Operations console.
YrDis remained near the Ops console and watched as the little mini-drama played out between the Captain, First Officer and Cadet Lorre. Now that Captain Marcell was back on the bridge, there was no reason for S'Reena to stay, and S'Reena's warning glare did not affect him at all.
The Counsellor wondered whether or not Cadet Lorre realized that as long as she was under the direct orders of the CMO for a specific duty, she carried that authority with her as long as she was carrying out that duty. Under those circumstances, even a cadet could order a Commander to report to Sickbay.
YrDis was distracted from the center of the bridge by several warning beeps from the Ops console. YrDis looked over Cadet Johnson's shoulder as he successfully analyzed the readings, then straightened up to report.

"I geuss we'd beter go then, we don't want to keep Dr. Black waiting." She stood up, but S'reena did not make a move. "Commander..."
She walked up. "Not only is it in my authority to order you to come with me, but is also your responsibility to insure that there are no temperary effects of this nebula. What if we are in the middle of a battle and you become unable to give orders because something has gone unchecked? For yourself and the crew I am asking you one more time, come with me to sick bay." She would not back down now, she couldn't.

"No," S'reena said bluntly, "I will not go down to sickbay. I have seen my share of sickbays, and only recently I had my physical so I see no reason to go down to sickbay."
She made a point of looking past the cadet, not to be rude towards her, but to make it clear that she had no intention of going to sickbay. She did notice the girl's cheeks flushing red and her eyes flashing, but she pretended she had not seen that.
"Are you having fun Mr Blayne?" she asked, irritation quite audable in her voice, "quite an opportunity you have, don't you think?"
The medical cadet stood her ground. ~she's brave~ S'reena thought ~and bold, very good. Let's see what she will do next...a cadet needs a challege, and she needs to be able to use her authority when needed. Still, I have no desire to go to sickbay and if I can avoid it, I will~
<ooc: to the cadets: ~text~ means thought....usually private but any telepath may pick it up...if it's really private, not for telepaths to pick it up I will add that its private thought>

"Are you having fun Mr Blayne? Quite an opportunity you have, don't you think?" Commander Hope questioned loudly.
YrDis was a surprised at the excessive irritation in Commander Hope's voice. He had been assuming that S'Reena was testing the the mettle of the Bajoran, but apparently this situation was a bit more bothersome to the First Officer than he had thought, and her body language had been agressive and antagonistic. She had no real reason to lash out at him. It was his job to observe the crew. He had started watching this little melodrama primarily to observe Cadet Lorre, knowing that he would have to submit a report on her responses at the end of the mission, but his focus was shifting to the commander.
"My work as a Counsellor is rewarding Commander, but it's rarely fun. Observing others under stress is one of my primary responsibilities, as is seeing their response. I'm just doing my job" YrDis stated flatly.

Melain closed her eyes and took a deep breath. "I have the authority to take you to sick bay kicking and screaming if I have to. I am ordering you to come with me to sickbay, If you do not comly I will report you to Dr. Black who will waste no time filing a report with Star Fleet." she waited for S'reena to obey ~Please don't make me report you, please not on my first day of training~

S'reena suddenly got an idea, and she did her best to refrain from smiling and keep the annoyed look on her face. "Very well," she acquiesced, and got to her feet, tugging her tunic down.
She went with the medical cadet, still struggling to keep from smiling, and followed her to sickbay. Once there, she walked in after her. "I was ordered to report to sickbay," she said quietly, "I have done so, now I am going back to the bridge. I have a duty to perform, and that does not indulge in medical research. Good day gentleman, ms Lorre."
She nodded, and turned to walk off.

Lorre stood gaping, she had done what she had to, and was very curiose as to what Dr. Jason would do. She was about to say something when the doors opend and a very familiar face enterd holding her arm tenderly. It was Danara. They glared at each other, as Danara passed Lorre and went strait to Dr. Black.
"Cadet Danara reporting, I seem to have sprained my wrist."
Lorre had been hoping she would be able to avoid the Cardassian, but it seems the fates had turned on her

Jason looked from the Cardassian cadet to the Bajoran cadet. There was tension in Lorre's face, and Jason knew this wasn't a good situation. He went forward to greet Danaru.
Jason: Certainly, Cadet. Come in, sit down. Dr Hope will be with you in a moment. I have another matter to attend to. Cadet Lorre, please come with me.
Jason left Sickbay quickly, grabbing a blank PADD on his way out. Lorre followed behind him. As they rode on the turbolift. He entered a message.
Lorre: What do you intend to do?
Jason: You shall see.
They entered the Bridge. He showed to Commander Mortaat:
Mortaat, I need to get Commander Hope to Sickbay. Assist me.
Mortaat read the messsage and nodded, and followed Jason and Lorre over to Commander Hope, who was sitting in her chair.
Jason: Commander Hope, as I am sure you are well aware, when a member of my Medical Staff is under orders from me, they have the same authority I do. And that includes Cadet Lorre. I have found symptoms in other members of the crew that, if you have them, given your medical history, pose a potential risk to the crew. I need you to come with me, now. If not, I will have Commander Mortaat take you into custody and escort you to Sickbay, and a formal reprimand will be entered onto your record. Now, come with me.

Tony had not realized how tense the situation was until Jason Black showed up on the bridge, his face very serious.
When S'reena had arrived back on the bridge, she had given him a polite smile, and hadn't said a word. Tony had nodded and continued to read the reports coming in. 'I've never met a more stubborn woman in my life.' he thought to himself. Tony chose that he would choose to interfere if S'reena once again denied the doctors request.
"I suggest you do not resist Doctor Black's order." Tony said evenly before turning to Gordan and Frek in the front, listening to Black and S'reena while he did so. "Cadet Thelev, how long until we arrive at Jesin?"
<Thelev>
Tony then turned to Owen Johnson, at the front who had completed his assignment, "Johnson!" The cadet turned sharply to look at him.
"Yes, captain?"
"Please download, onto a PADD all the information the federation has on Jesin. Do not bother to filter or read through it. I don't want to miss anything I might have overlooked before. We are going to have a meeting very soon and I want the information prepared. Understood?"
<Johnson>
Tony nodded and directed his attention to S'reena and Black to see if it would be nessesary to interfere.

Lorre stood nervously on Dr. Black's right, wracking her brain trying to bring up anything she knew about Jesin, nothing came to mind. Whatever the instructers had planned for the Cadets, it would come as a complete surprise to her. Yet another thing she had no control over. Danara's glare had chilled her, and she knew she would have to return that night to their quarters and try to get some rest knowing an enemy of her people slept so very very close. ~I thought Intrepid ships had individual quarters, and I did not notice any other cadets sharing? This isn't fair, why would they make us share with eachother, why not stick two humans together?~ She wonderd for a moment whether or not She would end up having to treat Danara's arm, and whether or not she would be able to do a good job at it regarding the tension between them.

"I'll get right on to that Captain." Owen responded as he looked over the ops console. He wasn't familiar with the ops position, and the Intrepid class ops console did have a different setup to the few training consoles that he had worked on. ~Hmm. I press this button, or is it this button. Oh now I see it, I press the button that says computer.~
Having accessed the computer, Owen looked and saw a massive amount of files. ~Now what did my Ops training say about scanning the computer archives? ... Oh great, I can't remember.~
"Cmdr. Blayne, would you be able to assist me on this task?"

Sitting back watching Cadet Thelev maneuver out of dock and getting us underway to Jesin I was quite impressed with his natural talents.
~Hopefully this will help settle down his nerves a bit.~ I thought as I continued to watch his handling of the Conn.
"Very good Mr. Thelev, You handled the departure nicely. You were a little choppy with your maneuvering in space dock but seeing as you didn't hit anything else I would call it a success."
"Now, while we have some time please show me how you would check a ships navigational deflector system and then we will discuss the capabilities of the Hanson."
Looking back over at me with a look of relief on his face the Cadet replied.

Frek had followed the events on the bridge with amazement. Okay, the FO is Romulan, they’re always a bit weird, but this was something straight out of bad tv soap. He did feel sorry for Melain Lorre, he was glad he wasn’t in her position. The atmosphere on the bridge lightened up when Lorre finally managed to get cmdr. Hope to go to sickbay.
]Lt. Gordon said.
“Yes sir,” Frek replied. He began working the controls. His antennae swayed slowly as he worked in utmost concentration. First he checked the graviton polarity generators. The output per generator fluctuated somewhat between 750 and 760 megawatts. All within normal parameters. One by one Frek tested all the deflectors systems. When he completed the test he bought the results up on display. “Navigational deflector dish fully functional sir,” Frek reported.
The FO had returned on the bridge by the time Frek was finished. That must have been a really fast check up, he thought. It was not until a few minutes later, when Dr. Black bursted unto the bridge, when Frek realized she probably never went through with the whole thing. “There we go again,” Frek muttered in himself. “What was that cadet?” Gordon inquired. “Nothing sir.”
The little melodrama continued for a moment. The captain gave a commented on the situation and turned his attention at Frek.
Frek checked the navigation display. “At current speed, warp 5, we are scheduled to arrive at the Jessin system in 5 hours and 43 minutes Captain.” As captain Marcell asked for all available information on Jessin, Frek wondered if they would be briefed or at least told something about the nature of the Hanson’s current mission. Last time he got into a situation not knowing what it was he ended up in jail for several days. It had taken him quite sometime to convince the local authorities he didn’t eat the mayor’s Daranian monkey like pet. After some nasty interrogations and analysis of his stomach contents they had finally let him go. Next time I take my vacation somewhere else, Frek had thought.
