"First Officer t' Transporter Room Chief."
–/\– Lieutenant Sobol here, sir. –/\–
"Have all th' away team been returned t' th' Hepta?"
–/\– Affirmative. –/\–
TJ broke communications with the Transporter Room, and turned his attention to the helm.
"At this time I'd say discretion is th' better part o' valor. Get us out o' th' company o' those warbirds an' headed back t' Starbase. Keep our strong side toward th' warbirds as much as possible if they follow. We'll be dealin' with th' Romulan boarding parties en route."

The away mission was cut very short, as the Hepta had come under attack. Of course, Stuart was glad that they had been released as prisoners, thanks to Liz. Back onboard the Hepta, it was Liz again who had, first, physically overpowered three Romulans, and then she had used some type of mental power to take care of the rest aboard the Hepta. When she did this she had collapsed.
Stuart stood by her side and was scanning her with his medical tricorder. “We need to get her to sickbay!” Stuart announced. Dr. Mackler looked at the transporter chief and announced to him “Chief, transport the three of us directly to sickbay.” Pointing to Liz, Stuart, and herself.
The now familiar blue glow appeared, followed by blackness, and they were now in the familiar sickbay. “Let’s get her on a biobed.” Dr. Mackler instructed.
The scans of the biobed indicated that Cadet Janeway had slipped into a type of a coma. Physically she was all right; she just wasn’t coming out of her sleep. They would just have to continue monitoring her and hope she would come out of it within the next few days. At least the Romulan threat had been averted.

As the Bridge crew could hear phaser fire being exchanged between the Romulan Boarding parties and the Hepta's Security team, Commander Chan spotted another problem. "Captain, I'm not sure, but it seems the anomalies are collapsing." One looked puzzled. Seconds later, the Science officer confirmed her hunch. "Commander Chang is right Captain, the anomalies are collapsing. The Warbirds are regaining mobility and one is even arming its disruptors."
One's face became grim. "Helm, set course for Starbase Conqueror warp 9. Commander O'Connor, advice Starfleet Command we may have another Romulan war on our hands." James nodded. "Aye sir."
The warbirds gained on the Hepta. The firt one fired a round from its disruptor banks and hit the shields at point blank range. The ship shuddered and rocked. The bulkheads screamed and screached. Commander Edwards ran to the nearest Engineering station and looked at the situation. "All sections, damage report"
The second Warbird had gained rapidly. "My god, what are they fueling those ships with" they could hear Commander Chan whisper. "Captain, they're gaining on us and fast." In fact, the second warbird had already positioned itself straight in the fligh path of the Hepta. "Prepare for ramming speed" Commodore One yelled, while standing up from the captain's chair. The ship accelerated and for a second it was almost certain the two would collide and it would bethe end of them. Suddenly however, an oversize warbird decloaked and fired on the one blocking the Hepta's flight path. It immediately withdrew and the Hepta was cleared to make an escape run. Both warbirds turned on the newcomer, which didn't seem to have much trouble repelling them. Commander Chan exclaimed, "IMPOSSIBLE!" "What is it? What's impossible?" Commander Edwards replied, a tense note in his voice." "Sir, the Boarding parties, they're gone......Beamed off the ship."
Suddenly, the viewscreen came alive. "This is High genera; Mordok of the Romulan Tal Shiar. You will accept our apologies for these intrusions. You will not take hostile actions against us or the Empire or we will retaliate. The attackers were not acting under the authority of the Senate. This information will do. The Boarding parties have been removed. You will continue your journey now."
The viewscreen flickered off. The Hepta moved on towards Starbase Conqueror, warp 9.

William winked at Mordok as the Tal'Shiar agent addressed the Hepta. Undoubtedly, Mordok noticed - William knew from past experiences with the Romulan that his perifial vision was excellent - but it would hardly have seemed appropriate to have nodded at the science officer. Mordok's image disappeared, but as it was doing so, he seemed to tilt his head slightly in William's direction. Commander Ford smiled.
"What th' hell..." muttered Commander Edwards.
"I believe that it was an honest mistake, sir," said Commander Ford. "Imagine trying to keep Starfleet Intelligence in line. It must be a lot harder with the Tal'Shiar."
"What are you implying, Mr. Ford?" asked ONE suspociously.
"Erm... that we should disregard the attack, sir," replied William. He knew that ONE would probably file a report to the Starbase, Starfleet Headquarters, and possibly even Starfleet Intelligence. William also knew that SI would quiet the whole episode down, and make everyone important keep silent.
ONE looked at William in an odd sort of way. Then he seemed to shrug absent-mindedly, and returned to work. He called for a status report, much more calmly than before. William relaxed a little.
******************
Severl light-years away, Mordok relaxed slightly as well. It was a nice thing to have had William Ford there. Perhaps he'd be able to convince his CO that the Tal'Shiar had merely slipped. As for the unorthodox, rebellious Tal'Shiar agents... Mordok ordered their punishments and continued with the clean-up process.

The past few weeks were quite confusing to Seth. It seemed that everything happened in a flash, and that not a month but a night had passed, but on the other side he could also remember every single detail of the journey.
He walked around the bridge and ended his round where he had started it, the helm. A cadet was seated in the navigations chair, a cadet that Seth had grown very fond of during the mission, so much that he regretted the fact that Jamey was forced to take day and night shifts because the other navigations cadets simply didn't show up for some reason or another. In return for this workload Seth had relieved cadet Parker of his duties, which did mean that Seth himself was "unemployed", with only one task: monitoring the flight systems.
No abnormal events had occured for some days now, and the Hepta was happily cruising at warp 9, an occasional jump to 9.2 but only when all forces cooperated.
With a sigh Seth turned to his cadet. Jamey had done quite a good job throughout the mission, and Seth was glad that he had such an "easy" cadet in his first mission as an instructor.
"Well Cadet Parker," Seth said, "how did you experience the past couple of weeks?"

OFF: I apologize for not posting before now. Things got a bit hectic at school and home.
Jordan's head was spinning but she bit her lip and moved on with things. Cadet Janeway had collapsed and now was in a coma. She had acted very bravely by taking on the intruders and risking her life. She tapped her combadge.
Jordan:=Sickbay to Bridge=
Bridge: Go ahead.
Jordan: Can someone tell me what our present situation is? I don't get a lot of news down here in sickbay. Also, is there anyone injured up on the bridge?
There was a slight chuckle over the line.
Bridge: The intruders are gone. Another Romulan ship took them out. We're currently heading back to Conquerer. No one up here seems really hurt, a few bumps and bruises is all.
Jordan looked up at the ceiling. If there was something people had a tendency of doing was understating their injuries. Was she really THAT intimidating as a doctor?
Jordan: Your understatement is noted and I'll send someone right up to take care of the bruises. Mackler out.
She looked over at Stuart and she pointed at an empty biobed with a look that said, "Don't object."
Jordan: Sit down cadet.
Stuart did so and she scanned him. There was a small beep and she read the screen.
Jordan: Ya have allergies cadet, am I correct?
Stuart slowly responded.
Stuart: Yes. Why?
Jordan: Were ya given any fruits when down on the planet?
<tag: Stuart>
Jordan sighed and closed his eyes. She turned around and located the nearest able body.
Jordan: Would ya watch over the cadets while I go up to the bridge to check on the officers? Call me if any problems come up or if cadet Janeway wakes up.
She turned back to Stuart.
Jordan: Ya will stay here cadet and rest. Your body may be havin' an allergic reaction to something ya ingested. I suggest ya lie down and rest for now.
Stuart looked nervous about what she just told him and she saw the look in his eyes. She smiled at him and he seemed to relax a bit. She then grabbed a medkit and headed up towards the bridge. The whole way up, she was thinking, I hope everythin' calms down considerably when this mission's over. I have too many things barradin' me at the same time to make much sense of it. Draco started suggesting things out of the air and she just scowled at him. She arrived on the bridge and told Draco to make sure that no one leaves the bridge until she finishes checking them all.

"Well Cadet Parker," Seth said, "how did you experience the past couple of weeks?" <<tag jamey>>Jamey responded to Seth with a big sigh. “I got news from home that some of my family members had contracted some type of unknown ‘bug’”. The doctors don’t really know what is going and one of them is loosing their hearing from the whole ordeal. So, I’m sorry if I haven’t seemed to be on the social scene.” Thinking back to the past couple of weeks Jamey responded, “I hate to say nothing happened, but I was just covering my shifts. I also reviewed your reports about the thruster system not being set correctly and went back to the holodeck to make sure I would not run into anything by having to much velocity and not being able to react to something because of the speed of the ship. I will check the thruster settings as part of my pre-flight from now on.” Reflecting on the most resent activity Jamey said, “After the away team beamed down, I was on my way to the bridge to take my post, or at least be available for back up, and had to take cover from phaser fire from the invading boarding party. Some other ship mates and I ducked into a Jefferies Tube and crossed over to an adjacent corridor. After reaching the corridor, we used an access panel to set up a force field around the section of the deck the intruders were in; hopping this would at least slow them down until a security team could reach this part of the ship.” “After that, I ran to the lift to get to the bridge but was knocked off of my feet when the ship was hit. The lift did not respond to my call after that and I returned to a Jefferies Tube to try to make some head way but found the bridge bulkhead was sealed. I quickly found my way to the battle bridge to be on stand by should the worse happen. Of course that took some time to do with the turbo lift system not responding.” “After everything had calmed down, and ships systems were responding again, I made myself to the main bridge to report in with you.” <tag Seth>OFF … sorry to say that I would only be gone one week … but after I got back from my out of town work trip … I found out that two of my family members are very sick. One from Meniere’s Disease and the other with Graves’ Disease. This past Wednesday was the first time I had touched my home PC in three weeks. Again … I’m sorry

Having been in a trance like state of mind for the last several hours, she finally opens her eyes and groans a little, and when she tries to get up her muscles protest as if she has been there for awhile.
"How long have I been out?" She asks the nearest person, who responds a couple days. She looks around to see who is all in sickbay, and then the last things she did hits her and she smiles. She sees Stuart on a biobed not far from her.
"Now what happened to you?" She says with a little chuckle, and he tells her what happened.
"Too bad, oh well that happens." She says still smiling. Someone contacts the doctor and tells me to stay where I am.
"Do I look sick to you? I want to get out of here, and besides the ceiling looks dreadful, why would I want to stay and stare up at that any longer?" She says trying to leave, but not managing to get out, which amazes her since she should be able to force her way out. She realizes her muscles aren't up for the task though, and that she should relax for a minute or two. Noticing the cadet is no longer watching her, she sneaks out of sickbay before the doctor can return. She heads for the bridge to see what her duties look like, and she encounters the doctor getting off the turbo lift.

I was going to have to transfer you to... Trivia Only! *dum dum dum....* OFF: dont scare my cadets ONE ON: "Well cadet," Seth said after he heard the complete story, "It seems that you've been through quite a lot, more than me, that's for sure" Seth turned to the navigational instruments and a smile appeared on his face. "Mr Parker, it seems that we are due to arrive to the starbase in an hour or two, so that means that we will finally get some action! This time there will be no auxiliary computer program as a backup, and you are not allowed to use any of the automated flight systems. I'm confident that you can dock the Hepta safely so I will not interfere with you myself too, as a matter of fact I will get a nice warm cup of coffee and enjoy the view! Are there any questions?" <<tag Jamey>>

Jamey took the seat behind the CONN as Seth was asking if there were any more questions. Jamey couldn’t think of any at the moment, but knew he would as he stepped through each step.
Jamey looked at the flight control read out, and then he entered a few commands to overlay the secondary navigational sensors and the primary science sensors over the already present main navigational and tactical display. After verifying the course and points of reference for this system Jamey return the display back to normal freeing up the previously called systems.
Jamey saw home on the navigational display; home for right now anyway, Star base CONQUEROR - the Academy Campus. It looked small on the read out, but he knew that after the base came up on the display screen it would dwarf the Starship.
…
[glow=blue,2,300]=^=[/glow] “USS Hepta calling Star base Conqueror, requesting approach”, Jamey said after opening a channel. Jamey slowed the ship to three fourths impulse as was customary when entering a planetary system or in proximity to a star base.
[glow=blue,2,300]=^=[/glow] “Star base Conqueror to USS Hepta, hold in flight pattern Bata until traffic clears; we will give clearance for bay door five shortly”, came over the intercom system.
[glow=blue,2,300]=^=[/glow] “Understood and acknowledged”, Jamey responded as he slowed to one-eighth impulse and entered a wide orbit around the Star base. ‘Wow, there is a lot of activity today’, Jamey thought as he looked to the view screen at the buzz around the base.
…
As worker bee shuttles zoomed from place to place, other star ships in orbit, the Hepta patiently waited its turn to approach. Jamey knew what a lot of space traffic meant; it meant things needed to be done vigilantly.
Like a top circling around and around, it seemed that approach clearance would never come. Jamey had already counted the bay doors several times, watching bay door five come and go, then come and go again. Just then a light flashed on his control panel. By pressing the light, Jamey opened the message from the base.
Star base Conqueror approach: Clear for approach … bay door five … 910417.60
Jamey disengaged the impulse engines as the ship passed bay door three. The vast ship slowed as the hum of the engines dissipated. Jamey fired the bow thrusters slowing the ship even more. Activating the port nacelle thruster faced the ship to a bearing of 270. The base, as well as bay door five, was now ahead but slightly below the ship. Changing the elevation of the ship to mark 322 lowered the ship and now the bay door filled the view screen as it begins to open. The navigational display showed that the ship was lined up to the center axis navigational beam emitting from the base approach system.
With the doors completely open, Jamey activated the aft thrusters with two quick pulses; the ship began to disappear into the massive star base.
[glow=blue,2,300]=^=[/glow] “Star Base Conqueror to USS Hepta, you are cleared for docking port six; you’re looking good and welcome home”
[glow=blue,2,300]=^=[/glow] “Acknowledge, Conqueror … and it is good to be home”, Jamey responded.
Docking port six lay just past the USS Hope to the starboard side. Jamey slowed the ship by pulsing the bow thrusters once and started the aft of the ship to port by pulsing the aft starboard thruster once. Looking at the navigational display to double check clearances from the base and other ships, Jamey lined up with docking port six.
As Jamey worked the thruster system, all velocity was halted and the Hepta floated in front of the docking port. With one pulse from the aft maneuvering thrusters, Jamey moved the ship into the searching beams of the docking tractor system. Once the system established lock, Jamey fired the bow-maneuvering thruster to slow the advance to the umbilical dock.
…
[glow=blue,2,300]=^=[/glow] “Docking clamps engaged, the umbilicals are connected and locked … Turbo lift gantries are in place and secure … all engines and thruster systems are now off-line … docking complete” Jamey announced and he gave a big sigh of relief but also satisfaction.
[glow=blue,2,300]=^=[/glow] “Understood, systems are all showing normal … Star base out”

Cleburn was always amazed at the pure fact that someone couold manuver such a big ship as the Hepta into a space just the size for her. He had watched the docking from Ten-Forward. It felt good to be back in a somewhat familar place. He still had a longing for the Highlands of course. He suspected that would never leave, but for now this was home. "Let's see what up next." he thought

After her encounter with the good doctor, she gladly returns to the bridge and duty. She enter the bridge just as she hears the words, 'Star Base Conqueror to USS Hepta, you are cleared for docking port six; you’re looking good and welcome home'. She smiles and walks over to Commander O'Connor who is really busy.
"Returning to duty, sir, what can I do to help?" She says looking for something to do, and then she realizes what he is doing, and smiles.
"You can help by programming a couple bugs, but not too many." He says smiling back, and she chuckles and just nods entering Ops. She works quickly to see what he has programmed, and sees two easy bugs.
She realigns two of the power grids to look like someone short circuited a couple different systems. She turned back to her commander to see what he thought of this, and then she gets another idea and holds off. She makes it look like three of the displays behind her read wrong, and then turns back to her commander to see what he thinks.

Jordan got to the bridge and immediately saw that whoever had said that everyone was fine had, of course, understated. The only one who looked uninjured was the captain, but that wasn't going to stop her though. She went around from person to person and saw the worst was a sprained wrist that would heal quickly. The rest has assorted bruises and scratches. She was ready to head back to sickbay when her combadge went off.
Nurse: Commander, Cadet Janeway left and is heading to the bridge.
Jordan sighed. Why did people always have to leave when not cleared? She got into the turbolift and waited as it descended. The doors opened and she saw Liz standing in front of her. She looked surprised to see Jordan. Jordan kept her voice casual but questioning.
Jordan: Where do ya think you're goin'?
Liz: The bridge.
Jordan: Mm-hm. And who let ya out of sickbay?
Liz: I felt much better and thought I should get back to my duties.
Jordan stepped out of the turbolift and stood next to Liz. She was about to lecture her about why feeling better doesn't always mean one is better but held her tongue.
Jordan: Very well. Just let me scan ya once to make sure.
She ran her tricorder over Liz's body and found no problems. She gestured for Liz to go ahead. The doors closed and she walked back to sickbay to see how Stuart was doing.

Stuart had to think about that for a moment. “Well no, not any solid fruits. We did receive some type of juice to drink. With all of the excitement, I forgot to think about my allergies. I was wondering why my lips have started to itch. It must be a very low dosage of what I am allergic to, for I don’t feel any other symptoms.”
Dr. Mackler gave him instructions of staying in the biobed and also gave him reassurance with a quick smile before departing for the bridge.
While the doctor was away, cadet Janeway had come to. They had discussed what had happened to the both of them before she decided to sneak out. Stuart saw her get up and thought about stopping her, but then decided that Dr. Mackler would deal with her one way or the other. He was not going to stand in the way of a Klingon woman, even if she was just a half of one and in a weakened state.
It wasn’t too long before Dr. Mackler had returned with Draco by her side. Seeing her was medicine in itself. Stuart quickly regained his composure and spoke up. “You think I could get up now. I’ve been watching the readings myself. I don’t think there is anything that requires my being incapacitated.” Stuart was sure he would make a good doctor, but he was definite that he was a lousy patient.

..... She went around from person to person and saw the worst was a sprained wrist that would heal quickly. ......... Jamey looked up at a very friendly smile from Jordan as she began to operate her tricorder. He hadn’t felt any pain from his harsh meeting with the wall he had during the encounter the ship had with weapons fire … but now as Jordan looked over his arm, he felt some pain. Jamey was always a sucker for a warm touch from a caring person … but he didn’t want to push it … and besides he didn’t even know if the good Doctor knew he existed. He looked down at his arm now and felt no pain. With a smile he nodded at Jordan and she went on to the next crewmember. Commodore ONE sat in the center chair and watched the ship dock with the starbase. He was extraordinarily proud of his cadets, and equally glad they were home, safe and sound (though being Borg, he was not given to thinking in such cliches).
When everything was complete, ONE stood up and patted Cadet Parker on the shoulder. "Thank you cadet, you're dismissed now."

“Yes sir, thank you sir”, Jamey responds as he looks up at the Borg Captain.
Jamey enters a few more commands into the panel, then turns in the chair and heads for the turbo lift. As Jamey walks up the ramp to the upper lift he wonders about his performance; was it enough for graduation? At this point, rest is in front of his mind. As he enters the lift and turns and gives the deck number, he sees the bridge still busy as the doors shut. A new sound is heard, the quite whoosh of the lift.

OFF: I'm sorry that I can't be with you the last phase of the mission cadet, because I'm away from a computer the upcoming 7 days.
ON:
It was the most beautiful touchdown Seth had ever felt, a figure of speech of course, because the internal dampening system made sure that the crew didn't notice anything when the ship made small sudden movements.
"Well done cadet! I think that now your training is over I can safely call you by your own name Jamey" Seth said, "I'm proud to call myself your instructor! You go ahead and throw yourselves a party on the starbase, I sadly have some things to take care of. I'll surely visit you when I get back, but untill then good luck to you and be nice to every soul that you get on board with!"
With that Seth shook Jameys hand and they walked towards the starbase together. Once out of the lift they each headed their own way. Off to new adventures.

As Cadet Parker wrapped up things at CONN, Commodore ONE tapped his combadge: "All hands, this is Commodore ONE. When you are done at your stations, you have 10 days shore leave. The Graduation Ceremony will be tomorrow at 0900 at the Main Hall. All cadets and instructors are expected to be there, all other crew are welcome and encouraged to come. ONE out."
OFF: Well done everyone! This marks the official end to the mission. The Graduation Ceremony will be posted on the SB Conqueror ASAP.
