Illito heard the request for an emergency transport, and was already at the biobed when the two crewmembers appeared, crewman Horace on the bed, unconscious. Illito took the scanner that was already in her hand, and started to scan the man.
"Is he going to be okay?" Paikea asked her.
“He should be. He was conscious when you brought him in, which is a good sign. On the other hand, he wasn’t able to call for help on his own,” Illito said, not at all sure, but mainly speaking to reassure Paikea. “He has no damage except to his head, those seem to be mainly surface wounds, though there is some evidence of…” Illito trailed off, and looked at Lt. Apirana. “You might be able to help me establish the seriousness of the wounds,” she said abruptly.

“Well, how did you find him?” Illito asked him. “Was there anything around him, or that had fallen on him? How did you know he was there?”

“I see,” Illito replied, still running her scanner over Horace. “Do you know what he was working on when he was wounded?”

“Thank you,” Illito said. “The information you gave me will help. And I am grateful to you for finding him, if you hadn’t it might have been a while until he got treatment.”

“You might be able to help me establish the seriousness of the wounds,” she said abruptly. Paikea was surprised when she said this, Paikea was no doctor and didn't know how to help her.
"How can I help?" Paikea asked.
“Well, how did you find him?” Illito asked him. “Was there anything around him, or that had fallen on him? How did you know he was there?”
"I was in enviornmental control and I heard a moan," Paikea said," at first I thought I was hearing stuff, but then I heard it again. I asked the computer and it told me that someone was in the Jefferries tube. When I found him he was surrounded by his tools, but nothing big enough to do this to him.
“I see,” Illito replied, still running her scanner over Horace. “Do you know what he was working on when he was wounded?”
"Well I can only guess that he was working on the enviornmental controls or just doing regular maintanance work," Paikea said as he remembered what he saw when he discovered the man.
“Thank you,” Illito said. “The information you gave me will help. And I am grateful to you for finding him, if you hadn’t it might have been a while until he got treatment.”
"Well I'm glad that I found him as well, but I don't know if my information was any help," Paikea said as he back tracked and let the doctor and medics help out Crewman Horace. Feeling as though his usefullness was done he left sickbay and headed back to engineering.
Once he arrived back to engineering he saw that the hustle and bustle of what he saw when he first arrived was no longer present.
"Commander Gray is there anything else that I can do?"

After Paikea had helpfully answered her questions and left, Illito studied Crewman Horace, and ran the scanner over him, in one last attempt to gain more basic information. She then studied the scans, trying to figure out why the man was unconscious now, and what had happened to him.
It didn’t really make that much sense, from what Illito could tell Horace had not been doing anything particularly dangerous. Unless there had been a slight electrical discharge from the panel, but then he likely wouldn’t have been conscious when Paikea found him. And then the moan of pain didn’t make much sense in all the possible scenarios Illito had come up with.
Illito wished she could ask Horace himself what had happened to him, but he was unconscious, and she didn’t want to risk his health by reviving him. He would probably recover on his own anyway, but Illito wanted to know what the problem was; to insure his recovery and be able to help him recover faster.
Illito adjusted the scan on the working assumption that is was an electrical discharge. Supposing it was a slight, yet painful one, the shock could have caused Horace’s unconsciousness, yet he may not have been unconscious until the charge had dissipated. The fall to the floor may have caused a minor head injury, causing him to moan. Illito set up a more precise device for scanning Horace, so she could either verify or disprove her theory.

"Commander Gray is there anything else that I can do?" Lt. Apirana asked, reappearing in Engineering.
“I’m sure I can think of something,” Aeryn said, smiling, friendly. “But if you have important duties to do on the bridge,” she said to the Lt. He was good at working on the computers, and was willing to try new things, and Aeryn could always think of things for people to do, especially since the ship was half-falling apart, and she was still low on crew. Then again, though, she could manage without him.
<Tag Paikea>
“Ok then, do you know how long it will be until we reach Starbase Assailant?” she asked, thinking of something that would help the ship.
<Tag Paikea>
“I’ve shut down replicators until we reach Assailant, because they use up a lot of power.” Aeryn explained “We have enough food, but they’re mostly in the form of ration bars. That is, I believe, going to make some of the people on the ship malcontent, but it’s necessary. The only other high-power consuming field that could be similarly disbanded would be the transporters, but the only people using them are medical staff-for emergencies, and I don’t want to be responsible leaving injuries untreated.” Aeryn realized she was talking too much about something the Lt. would likely find boring, so she skipped to her question, without using any real transition. “How well are you at phrasing things so as to cause the least offence possible?”
<Tag Paikea>
“Because I’m really bad at it,” Aeryn admitted. “So I was wondering if you would mind helping me to explain why we have to take the replicators offline. It’ll just be a simple announcement, letting people know what we have done and advising them to go to twelve-forward to pick up any ration bars they need. But it shouldn’t have to happen for long, we’ll be at Assailant soon enough. Or of course, if you wish, I can find something more technical for you to do.”

"Trust me Commander, there isn't much that I can do in science right now," Paikea said," plus I don't really want to just sit there on the bridge."
“Ok then, do you know how long it will be until we reach Starbase Assailant?” she asked. "Let me check," Paikea said getting back to the console that he had been working on. It just took a second, but he knew his answer. " We will be at the the starbase in 34 hours."

"Um, I'm okay I guess," Paikea said glad that the Commander had stopped talking.
“Because I’m really bad at it,” Aeryn admitted. “So I was wondering if you would mind helping me to explain why we have to take the replicators offline. "Okay, I can do that," Paikea said talking in everything she had just said to him. Paikea quickly found himself cursing himself for saying that he would tell this to the rest of the crew
=^=Main Engineering to all crew, until we reach Assailant, all replicators will be shut off. Ration bars will be located at Twelve Forward, that is all.=^=
After Paikea finished the annoucement he heard the moans from the engineering staff, but when Commander Grey gave them a look they just stopped talking and went back to work.
"Commander Grey until you find something specific for me to do, I'll will help out some of the teams here," Paikea said walking towards two engineers working near the warp core.

"We will be at the the starbase in 34 hours," Paikea said.
Aeryn frowned a little, that would be pushing everyone’s capacities because then they still had to keep four separate shifts. Though she could likely work three of the shifts, with short breaks.
"Commander Gray until you find something specific for me to do, I'll will help out some of the teams here," Paikea said.
Aeryn almost asked the Lt. to stay away from the warp core, but he wasn’t doing anything dangerous, not like juggling or anything. Instead she just nodded, and he walked away. Aeryn flushed a little with embarrassment as she remembered the first test from the Academy she had failed. It had been a lot of silly things, Aeryn had just received a too-rare letter from her mother, and she had been feeling very happy. She had forgotten to study for her test, and had answered the questions in just whatever way had felt right. Admittedly, she hadn’t gone for the juggling answer, but she had missed quite a few obvious questions. Now Aeryn could probably remember answer the questions in her sleep, three more years of Academy training had managed to drum them into her.
Aeryn solved a variety of minor, and major, problems for a while, then, after about half an hour, was alerted by the computer that it was time for her to take a break. She ignored it for a while, she hated busybody computers. It had been designed, by someone else, to make sure she didn’t get lost in her work, but Aeryn had never minded being lost in her work. She found it strangely relaxing. But the computer was definitely not relaxing.
“I’m on break now,” she snapped at it, while continuing to work; she had no moral problems with lying to a computer.
“Thank you,” the computer replied, sounding human enough to make Aeryn feel slightly guilty, but not enough that she would actually take a break.
She glanced at some of the information, and looked for an available person she could have help her. Most of the engineers were absorbed in whatever was their specialty, and well they would all be willing, Aeryn thought of someone better for the job: Lt. Apirana.
“Lt. Apirana,” she said to him. “Can you help me with the Optical Data Network? It networks the computers and the rest of the ship,” she explained. There were a multitude of backups for the system, but Aeryn preferred that the backups not be used, even though they could do the job just as well as the original. Perhaps better, since the backups hadn’t been damaged in the fight.
<Tag Paikea>
Just then the computer spoke up. “Commander Gray, despite the fact that you claim to be on break, you continue to work. And you have not left engineering in the eight minutes since you’ve been on break.”
Aeryn glanced at Lt Apirana, decided that she valued her job, and bit back a few words she was going to tell the computer. “I’m busy,” Aeryn, said, knowing that it sounded a feeble excuse. But it wasn’t really as feeble as it sounded. “Trying to make sure the ship, the computers included, don’t fall apart.”

“Lt. Apirana,” she said to him. “Can you help me with the Optical Data Network? It networks the computers and the rest of the ship,” she explained. Paikea had been working on fixing a back up system to the science department. It was nothing major, but then again he couldn't do anything very important. Yet when Commander Grey asked him to help him he was a bit surprised.
"Sure Commander I will gladly help," Paikea said as he started to hear the computer talking to the commander.
“I’m busy,” Aeryn, said, knowing that it sounded a feeble excuse. But it wasn’t really as feeble as it sounded. “Trying to make sure the ship, the computers included, don’t fall apart.”
"Can we fix the network away from a different console?" Paikea asked trying to make the commander feel better. Of all the people in engineering Commander Grey seemed the most tried of them all. Hopefully once they got back to home port, she would feel better.
"Commander I thought the Optical Data Network had backups?" Paikea asked as he thought about it more in detail.

After verifying her theory about Horace, Illito started to treat him. With the treatment began and the only thing she could really do being to make sure he didn’t decide that he knew better than her and try to sneak out of sickbay; Illito felt the nervous need to pace. She was able to suppress it, and focus herself on doing more constructive things.
Finally, the call came through she was waiting for. =/\=Commodore T’Mar to Commander Tintagel.=/\=
=/\=This is Commander Tintagel,=/\= Illito replied.
=/\=Have there been any improvements in the conditions of the patients?=/\= the Commodore asked.
=/\=I’m afraid not,=/\= Illito responded. =/\=However they haven’t gotten worse either=/\= Illito frowned, that was the good news, and it was hardly the best.
=/\=I’m going to start the hour of seclusion, so unless something comes up, you can expect me after this,=/\= Commodore T’Mar explained.
=/\=Understood=/\= Illito said, and closed the com channel. She just hoped that this would work, she wasn’t sure that this sort of situation had ever come up before, but the comatose members of the crew were running out of options.
Illito studied various medical records, trying to submerge herself into the numbers and statistics, to distract herself. Unfortunately, she was more of an active person than a meditative one, but her activeness was getting her nowhere just now.
After finishing the last few minor injuries that were currently in sickbay, Illito forced herself to study the latest medical studies, drawing her attention away from the area where she could do no good, but where she most wanted to help.
----------------
"Can we fix the network away from a different console?" Paikea asked Aeryn.
“We could,” Aeryn replied. “But that shouldn’t be necessary.” She sighed slightly. “I should have gotten around to reprogramming the computer when I had a chance.”
<Tag Paikea>
"Commander I thought the Optical Data Network had backups?" Paikea asked as he thought about it more in detail.
“It does, but, when possible, we should be relying on the primary network, since it’s more developed. The same way we have backup life support, but still prefer to be having the main one up and functioning. The ODN has been showing signs of stress, and I think it would be a good idea to have a look at it before it malfunctions,” Aeryn explained.
<Tag Paikea>
“Besides, if the network crashes there will be a few microseconds delay before the backup can be brought up, and the network only backs itself up every few minutes. If the main ODN fails there will be a variety of annoyances, many of them minor, but a few more serious, that it’s better if we can avoid those problems completely.”

“We could,” Aeryn replied. “But that shouldn’t be necessary.” She sighed slightly. “I should have gotten around to reprogramming the computer when I had a chance.”
"Well, commander they are there for a reason," Paikea said hoping not to offend the Commander. Hopefully she knew that he was trying to be funny. So Paikea just asked another question concerning the post at hand.
"This is why I'm not an engineer," Paikea said feeling really stupid for even asking the question.
“Besides, if the network crashes there will be a few microseconds delay before the backup can be brought up, and the network only backs itself up every few minutes. If the main ODN fails there will be a variety of annoyances, many of them minor, but a few more serious, that it’s better if we can avoid those problems completely.”
"Okay so how do we get started?" Paikea asked trying to be even more helpful. Now that he knew how important the ODN really was.

“Okay so how do we get started?" Paikea asked.
Aeryn smiled. Given what she had just said about backup ODNs, what she was going to say next would sound a little hypocritical. But it wasn’t, not really. “We have to send out a warning, then set up the network to back up the memory, and then instantly shift over to the back up ODN. While this may sound counterproductive, it’ll cause less damage than if we were to try to work on the system while it was still up, since we have some manual repairs to make on the mainframe. But first we have to shut it down. But since we can prepare for it, it won’t cause the problems ”
<Tag Paikea>
“Besides,” Aeryn continued cheerfully, “This is going to have to be done at some point anyway, and the people on Starbase Assailant won’t really be able to help with it all that much. Now we can get it done before we get there.”
<Tag Paikea>
Aeryn was feeling rather happy now that the ship was mainly repaired, and there were just small repairs to be made now. Besides, small repairs, such as ODNs were so much less complicated when complicated when they were compared to warp core field destabilization. Actually, warp field destabilization wasn’t very complicated at all, there was only one thing to do, eject the warp core, and move full impulse away before the core exploded. But then the ship was left in the unfortunate position of being stranded with only impulse. Fortunately there didn’t seem to be any sign that the warp core was going to explode today. If it had been going to, it probably would have by now.

“If you say so Commander remember I’m not the engineer,” Paikea said trying to tease the clearly tired officer. Maybe she should take a break, but he knew not to mess with engineers when they were working.
“Besides,” Aeryn continued cheerfully, “This is going to have to be done at some point anyway, and the people on Starbase Assailant won’t really be able to help with it all that much. Now we can get it done before we get there.”
"Okay I'll work on setting up the network," Paikea said as he started working on the console. It was really hard to do in fact, which Paikea was extremely appreciative of. Paikea found it a hard to believe that the engineers at assailant couldn’t fix this problem, but he would do it. If Commander Gray felt as if it was needed then he would gladly do it.
As he looked at the console, he realized that to disconnect the ODN he would need to also disconnect most of deflector control. He did this which caused the computer to chirp at him.
“Yeah I know,” Paikea said as he reconnected the two systems. Paikea saw that the systems were late in starting up again which worried him. He took out the hypo-spanner and the tricorder and looked the connections. It seemed as though the network connection between deflector control and the ODN had degraded to a point that it could cause a feed back and explode. When he realized this he was grateful that Commander Gray had told him to fix this. He quickly repaired the connection and left the hard part to the Commander.
“Thank you Lt. glad you found that,” the engineer said as she started to work.
=^=Lt. Apirana could you please report to the bridge=^=

“Well Commander I have to say goodbye for now,” Paikea said as he got up and offered his hand.

Paikea didn’t know why he was needed on the bridge, but he quickly got there. Commodore T’Mar was not on the bridge.
“Sir you are the most senior bridge officer,” the helmsman told him.
“That’s okay, Luke,” Paikea said,” where is Commodore T’Mar?”
“She headed out to sickbay.”
“Okay,” Paikea said as he went to his station. He wanted to check up on some things while he waited news of the comatose patients.

Horace came up to Illito as she was reading. He saw that it looked like she was busy, and thought about leaving her alone, but he wanted to leave sickbay, not be stuck here as long as she seemed to think was right. “Can I go now, Doctor?” Horace asked her.
Illito was surprised that Horace was up and about, he had seemed much more injured before. Illito asked him for permission to scan him, and was surprised to see that he was right, he was ready to leave sickbay. He seemed much more healed than she thought he would have been. “I think you can go soon, but I would first like to ask you a few questions about how the accident happened,” Illito said.
“Sure,” Horace agreed, happy he would be able to leave soon. Sickbay was rather boring. “Do you just want a description of what I think happened?”
“Yes, that would be good,” Illito said.
“Well, I was working, an electrical discharge came out and hit me. I felt myself slipping to the ground, and I tried to call out so someone would hear me.” Horace shrugged. “I guess it worked.”
“Yes,” Illito replied. “By the time you got to sickbay you were unconscious, and your situation was deteriorating rather rapidly. At some point after I managed to stabilize you, and you started to improve just as rapidly as you had been deteriorating before.”
“OK,” said Horace, wondering vaguely why he would really want a full explanation of his condition. Especially when he didn’t understand most of the explanation.
“What were you working on when you got hit by the discharge?” Illito asked, trying to solve the mystery. She preferred knowing why her patients got hurt and why they got better, it was much better if she didn’t have to guess about their conditions.
“I was working on environmental controls. It’s fairly simple work, but sometimes things go wrong,” Horace responded.
Illito nodded. “It’s just that your metabolic system seems to be dealing with it very well, rather surprising actually. And there’s no evidence of this in your medical file,” Illito said, bringing it up. Suddenly her screen blinked, before coming back. Illito frowned a little, but figured engineering would be dealing with this.
“Are there any new chemicals that have been added to the environmental system?” Illito asked him.
“Actually yes,” Horace replied thinking. “We just added Acetylcholine to the artificial atmosphere.”
“Why?” Illito asked, puzzled. “Doesn’t that cause violent behavior?”
“No, not at all," Horace replied, making sure that Illito didn't get the wrong impression. Not it it’s used in conjunction with Serotonin,” Horace said. "It was of course, extensively tested out before anyone even considered placing it on a Starfleet vehicle."
Illito shrugged, she felt that she was outside her area of expertise. “What does it do then?”
“It helps simulate the mental environment of a planet. It can help those that are telepaths adapt to the fact that just outside the ship, there is only space. Otherwise they might just focus on the emptiness in their minds, which could cause some emotional instability, especially for those telepaths or empaths that grew up on planets. It’s not that much different than making sure there’s enough oxygen in the air,” Horace finished, responding to Illito’s questioning look.
Illito wasn’t sure if either of the chemicals, or the two in combination, were the answer to why Horace had recovered so quickly, but she decided to study them, to see.
----------------
“Well Commander I have to say goodbye for now,” Paikea said as he got up and offered his hand.
Aeryn shook the Lt’s hand, and smiled. “It was nice working with you,” she said.
After he had left, she went to fix the hardware behind the ODN, which had been damaged by the firefight. She discovered that she had to leave Engineering, and walked quickly to the correct Jeffries tube, where she set to work on fixing some of the connections. She frowned, as she noticed that some of the wires had melted together, and proceeded with caution to fix them.

OCC: Illito I do not know the medical terms of what you are going to do. Thats why I'm not the doctor, lol. I will post around what you are going to do and leave a lot of time for you to work your magic. Also for members of the Scavenger crew, not myself and Illito please post something, even if its on the OCC or LOA board.
IC:
Paikea was at his station, reading the reports from the rescue team. It seemed as though Paikea would have to thank an Ensign Zach Calbert, who took it upon himself to save the stranded members of the crew. If he was as good as his record said Paikea would just might have to make his second.
As Pai waited for the reports from sickbay, he decided that he would do his mission report. It was a complicated and long one so it would take a longer than usual for him to finish it. In fact Paikea felt as he should leave some things out. He knew of course that Commodore T'Mar would report the fact that two of her senior officers were captured and tortured. Yet Paikea didn't want to mention it. ~I'll leave that for the doc and Captain, Paikea thought~
Hours Later
It had been reported that Doctor Tintagel had started on the treatment of the first away team. Which brought a sigh of relief on the bridge. The Commodore had come back to the bridge, but she had quickly left. She had come to get a PADD and headed towards what Paikea thought must of been her quarters. So Paikea officially was in charge now. Well until someone of higher rank came onto the bridge.
Pai wanted to know exactly what was going on in sickbay, but felt as if he interrupted the process he could endanger the lives of the comatose patients. Yet things on the bridge were dreadfully slow. All repairs were currently all or close to completion. Commander Gray had reported that the ODN had been repaired and that the warp core was getting better every second.
They currently were at Warp 8.56 and they were inching closer to Assailant every light second. They were going to make it in 7 hours, almost halving the time that was reported just 4 hours ago.
"Lt. my sensors are reading four ships on an intercept course," the helmsman said.
"Can you tell what they are?" Paikea said alarmed. What if the Romulans had not left, but just of gotten some of their friends. The Scavenger was doing better, but no way was it in fighting form.
"No sir, our long range sensors aren't powerful enough," he reported.
=^=Bridge to engineering=^=
=^=Engineering here=^=
=^=We need to boost all possible energy to long range sensors immediately=^=
<Tag Gray>
"Is that enough?" Paikea asked.
"Yes sir," the helmsman said as he put the image of four Federation starships on the screen. Paikea felt a huge sigh of relief come from the people on the bridge.
"How long until they arrive?" Paikea asked.
"Four hours," the helmsman responded.
"How long until we have communications?" Paikea asked.
"We already have communications," Katie responded.
"This is Lt. Apirana of the USS Scavenger, please respond."
"Lt. Apirana I am Captain Jacobs of the USS Sarek, Admiral Lin has sent us to escort the Scavenger back to port," the elderly human Captain said on the view screen.
"Thank you Captain, your help is appreciated," Paikea said ending the transmission.
=^=Bridge to Commodore T'Mar please report to the bridge=^=
<Tag T'Mar>
Paikea felt as though the Captain of the ship should be there to deal with the CO's of these other ships and not him a lonely Lieutenant Junior Grade.

In her office, she studied the information on Acetylcholine. Horace had been right, not that Illito had doubted him, but the Serotonin and Acetylcholine did help telepaths. Illito had never thought about that problem before, but she could see why when telepaths, especially more powerful ones, who had spent the majority of their time used to the ever-constant thrum of other people’s minds, might find the much smaller population of a ship nearly maddening. Fortunately, there was evidently a counter against that.
Illito studied the chemicals and thought that it was the Acetylcholine that had helped Horace recover. It hadn’t even caused much of the problem in the first place, that had been mainly because of the electrical discharge.
Illito looked up the research, and discovered that other people had seen some of the same results as she had just found, but had dismissed it. Illito probed deeper, trying to figure out why the research was discontinued, since there wasn’t a clear reason listed.
“Doctor?” Commodore T’Mar said, jerking Illito out of her state of distraction.
“Yes, Commodore,” Illito replied, as she realized it had been an hour. “The patients are over here,” she said, then showed the Commodore to them. She watched nervously as Commodore T’Mar touched the person, but Illito couldn’t tell what T’Mar was doing, or if she was succeeding.
At last Commodore T’Mar broke off physical contact. T’Mar shook her head. “I can’t do it. There’s an electrical charge in their brain, if I have extended contact with them, it could permanently harm my emotional control.”
“I’ll see if there’s another option,” Illito said, sounding skeptical, she had to start over from scratch now, and wasn’t too happy about that.
“If that doesn’t work, tell me,” Commodore T’Mar said, who was willing to risk damage to rescue the crew.
“Yes sir,” Illito replied, and Commodore T’Mar left. Illito turned back, searching for a solution.
After a while, Illito remembered that Horace’s immune system, which had absorbed some Acetylcholine and Serotonin, had been able to use those neurotransmitters to help against the electrical discharge. She wondered if the neurotransmitters would work with the electrical charge that was already in the comatose patients brain, to possible help end the coma.
As soon as she had the idea, Illito set up a series of simulations. Since the exact nature of what had caused the coma was unknown, as well as the electrical charge itself, there were a lot of variables, but sometimes their conditions improved. In no cases did it get any worse, so after more research, Illito decided it was worth a try.
=/\=Sickbay to Engineering=/\=
=/\=Engineering here=/\= a puzzled Commander Gray replied, curious to what sickbay would want from her.
=/\=Do you have contained samples of Acetylcholine and Serotonin, that I would be able to use?=/\= Illito asked.
=/\=Yes, but I need to know what they’re for. They can be dangerous neurotransmitters, depending on how they are used,=/\=Aeryn answered.
=/\=I think they may have medical properties that could help the comatose patients. Don’t worry, they’ll stay in my hands at all times.=/\=
=/\=That’s fine then=/\=Aeryn agreed, and arranged to beam the samples to a contained lab area in sickbay. =/\=Tell me when you heal them though?=/\=Aeryn asked, worried about her fellow engineers.
Illito was touched by Commander Gray’s faith in her ability to heal the comatose crew, but only hoped that it was justified. She received the samples, tested them to make sure they weren’t contaminated with anything, then loading a little of both of them together into a hypospray. She carefully sealed the lab area behind her, and walked toward the patients. She wasn’t sure who she should start with, since the rule was whoever was most injured, but all the patients were about equally injured. Illito decided to simply start with the person closest to her.
Illito was careful and controlled, but she tried not to waste time as she put the hypospray against the patient, had the neurotransmitters released, and waited to see if anything would happen. She waited, worried, as the patient remained completely still, but then one of the machines that was monitoring the patient beeped. Illito glanced at it, and smiled, relieved. It had worked. It would be a while until the patient regained consciousness, but they were no longer in a coma.
Illito repeated the procedure with the other three of the comatose Engineering officers, waiting after each one to be sure none of them would have a negative side reaction, but they didn’t.
Illito sighed in relief when she saw that they were all fine. She could wake them up now, but she didn’t want to do anything that might cause them to have a relapse, or be injured.
“Computer, put out a shipwide announcement,” Illito said, deciding to tell the whole crew about the recovery, since it was likely that more than a few of them were worried, and it would save her having to answer that same question over and over again.
=/\=This is Doctor Tintagel, and I’m happy to inform you all that the members of engineering, who had been in comas since we found them on the surface of the planet are no longer in comas=/\=Illito said.
“Computer, end announcement.” Illito finished. She then made sent a comm signal a single department.
=/\=Sickbay to Engineering=/\=
=/\=Engineering here=/\=Aeryn replied, happy that the crew had made started to recover.
=/\=About the sample, I’d like to keep it a while longer if that’s possible, run some more tests, and do some research on it=/\=Illito said.
=/\=That’s fine,=/\=Aeryn answered. =/\=Just we’ll need it back at some point.=/\=
=/\=Understood=/\=Illito answered.
-------------
Hours later[/i]
=^=We need to boost all possible energy to long range sensors immediately=^=
=/\= I’ll see what I can do. I’ll get back to you within a minute=/\= Aeryn replied, then closed the com channel, before opening it up again, to someone else.
=/\=Engineering to Sickbay=/\=
=/\=Sickbay here=/\=Illito replied.
=/\=Do you anticipate having to have to do any emergency transports?=/\=Aeryn asked.
=/\=That’s not the kind of thing I can predict ahead of time,=/\=Illito replied.
=/\=Would it be likely to cause significant harm to patients if we take if offline for a while?=/\= Aeryn asked, hoping the answer would be no.
=/\=I suppose we will manage=/\=Illito replied, her way of saying it was fine.
=/\=Understood=/\=Aeryn replied. =/\=And thank you=/\=
-------------
Illito wasn’t sure how to react to the request from Engineering, since it wasn’t her injury that might have to wait to be treated. But the chances of having a serious injury were only a little higher than they were when the ship was in perfect condition, so Illito was sure someone would be able to get to the injured before their situation became critical. Otherwise she wouldn’t have agreed.
-------------
As she was still receiving the reply from sickbay, Aeryn redirected the power. She tapped her commbadge. =/\=Engineering to the Bridge, long range sensors should have enough power now=/\= she told them.

Illito noticed that one of the crew from Engineering, Lieutenant Jael was conscious, and she went to his side.
“How are you feeling?” she asked.
“I’m okay, I guess.” Lt. Jael replied. “I have a headache though.”
Illito nodded. “I’m afraid I can’t do anything for that, but it should go away on it’s own within 20 minutes. Are you up to answering a few questions?” she asked him.
“Yeah, sure,” Lt. Jael said, sitting up. “Apart from the headache, I feel completely fine. What happened?”
“You were in a coma for four hours,” Illito replied. Lt. Jael looked more than a little surprised.
“Thanks for fixing me then,” he said. Illito just shrugged, she never knew what to do when people complimented her. “So, what are your questions?” Lt. Jael asked.
“Do you remember why you entered the structure?” Illito asked.
“Yes, of course, I don’t think I have any memory problems,” Jael said. “We went into it because there was a group of the natives that was approaching, so we hid so they wouldn’t see us. The structure happened to be the closest thing, we didn’t think it would be dangerous. Does that help?”
Illito nodded. “Do you remember what happened when you entered the building?”
“At first we were awed by our surroundings, they were…amazing. But then the scene started to shift, I don’t think it actually did, but it was like we had a shared vision, except it wasn’t very pleasant. We were seeing planes crash into buildings, wars being fought, all the unpleasantness of Earth’s history.” Jael replied.
Illito frowned a little, then glanced around at the other members of the team. They were all human, but it raised the interesting question of what would have happened if one of them would have been alien? Would it have seen mistakes from the history of its own species? Was whatever had caused the visions taking problems from the people’s personal guilt, or a knowledge of their species?
“Is something the matter?” asked Jael.
“No, not at all,” Illito replied. “I was just thinking over the how that would work, and possible alternative things that might have happened.”
“Oh,” said Jael. “So, presumably I’m fine, can I leave sickbay?”
Illito nodded. “But only if you don’t report for duty and rest.”
Jael shrugged. “Just rest? That’s not really that much fun. If you don’t mind, I’d rather stay here for when the other crew members wake up.”
“That’s fine,” Illito replied, and left to finish the research on the Acetylcholine and Serotonin. “If they do, tell me though,” she asked. Jael agreed.
About a half hour later, all the crew had woken, and returned to their quarters to rest, Illito tried to figure out what had happened. She had gotten almost exactly the same list of events from all of them, including the fact of who had said what words when they had had the shared visions.
After that, she finished the research on the neurotransmitters. She realized that the transporters were still down, and she couldn’t keep the Acetylcholine and Serotonin in her the laboratory section until they reached Assailant, her facility wasn’t equipped for it. Besides, she had promised it would stay in her control the whole time, and her shift would be over soon enough.
Illito transferred the materials to a secure temporary home as she walked to Engineering.
-----------
Aeryn was working on the warp core, trying to prevent the premature deaths of everyone on the ship, when she heard unfamiliar steps entering Engineering. She took her time finishing what she had done before dealing with the visitor; she didn’t want to mess up because she was in a hurry.
After that, she walked up. “Doctor?” she asked, surprised to get a personal visit from her. Aeryn had never really seen the doctor before, but she did know that there was only the one Cardassian on board the ship.
“Yes. The transporter matrix is down, and I had to bring this back,” Illito said, holding out the container of Acetylcholine and Serotonin.
Aeryn looked specifically at it, but saw that the container was able to contain the neurotransmitters, so she took it and securely transferred the transmitters, before turning to answer the doctor. “Was there anything else?” Aeryn asked.
“Actually, yes,” Illito said. “I’m looking for an Ensign Fiaable, who was supposed to return to me about his leg when the current crisis was finished. I believe it’s been over for a while, but I haven’t seen him.”
Aeryn nodded. “I’ll send him down right away, I think he’s currently working on the phaser system. Is there anything else?”
“No, thank you,” Illito replied, leaving sickbay.
After she had left, Aeryn tapped her commbadge. =/\=Commander Gray to Ensign Fiaable=/\=
=/\=This is Ensign Fiaable=/\=
=/\=Ensign, I believe you have an appointment in sickbay?=/\=
=/\=Oh yeah, right, I forgot=/\=
=/\=You had three hours to remember. Please go there immediately=/\=
=/\=I’m working on the phaser system=/\=Fiaable reminded, thinking that Aeryn might have forgotten that he was busy.
Aeryn thought for a few seconds, trying to remember who was working with him. =/\=Lt. Mabrey is perfectly capable of finishing the work=/\=Aeryn said, hoping Fiaable wouldn’t argue any more, or else she would have to make a note of this on his record.
=/\=Yes sir, I’m leaving now=/\=Ensign Fiaable said, then closed the commchannel.
-----------
Ensign Fiaable beat Illito to sickbay, but he only had to wait a short while until she arrived. Illito was pleasantly surprised to see him there already.
“Yes, Ensign,” Illito said. “Please, have a seat. Has your leg hurt at all since you left?”
“No,” Fiaable started to reply, then felt a slight pain as he sat, and realized he had just been ignoring it. “Yes, a little,” he admitted.
Illito ran the scanner over the wounded leg. “It seems to be healing fine, but I can give you something that should speed up the process, as well as making it so you don’t feel the pain.”
“That would be nice,” Fiaable responded.
Illito smiled, and prepared and injected him with the hypospray. After making sure that Fiaable was reacting to the treatment she had just given him well, she let him leave sickbay, after pointing out that the shift was almost over, and there was no point to him returning to duty. He nodded, and Illito could tell that he was going to take her advice.
By the time the shift actually was over, sickbay was as empty as it usually got, and Illito turned sickbay over to Lt. Avel.
-----------
In Engineering, Aeryn continued to work as the engineers around her shifted in. Aeryn took a short break to go to 12 forward to get a cup of well, water, since that was the only liquid she saw that she was willing to drink.
After that, she went to work. Aeryn was willing to work three of the four shifts, but they would be at the Assailant before that even became necessary. About 8 hours before reaching Assailant, Aeryn left to get six hours of sleep, since she wanted to be well enough rested to oversee the repairs at Assailant, or report to her superior, if he was ready to go back to work.

Commodore T'Mar had arrived on the bridge shortly after Paikea had called for her presence. When she came in Paikea thought that he could see a huge grin on her face. He knew that there was one on his face and that of most of the crew members on board. Doctor Tintagel had just reported that all six away team members had been revived and no sign of injury was present. Yet her face quickly changed as she started talking to the Captain's of the Sarek. It became one of stoic, pleasing, yet strong person who would not be pushed around. The conversation was shorter than he had expected, but his CO knew better. Hours went by in silence until Paikea couldn't hold it in anymore. "Are you glad to be heading back home Commodore?" Paikea asked. "Why yes, I think my daughter will enjoy the change of scenery," T'Mar said. "Well that’s good, Ma'am, I think we all will enjoy a bit R&R," Paikea offered. He hadn't really talked to his CO this personally before, but they were just waiting to get home. Assailant was only eight light years away, home was only forty minutes away and Paikea couldn’t wait for it to happen. This mission was nothing that he had expected, he had been captured by the enemy, tortured, rescued, and helped destroy an enemy fleet with countless of people. When he first thought of all the people that had died he had felt sick to his stomach. How could he be a part of that, but then he remembered that the people who had perished were enemies of the Federation and they had started the fight that ultimately killed them. When Assailant was visible on the view screen it was promptly put on the screen. Paikea had never seen a more beautiful station in his life; it was so close that he could almost smell it. Paikea laughed at his thoughts, knowing that it was impossible to smell the outside of the station. Paikea took this time to finish his report which he did in record time and then relaxed. It wasn’t until they were five minutes away from Assailant that the Sarek once again contacted them. “Welcome home Scavenger, we will be breaking formation shortly,” Captain Jacobs told them. “Thanks, Captain to you and your crew,” Commodore T’Mar responded. Paikea saw on his sensors as the ships broke formation and warped to unknown destinations. “Helm, slow us down to half-impulse.” T’Mar ordered. The Scavenger had arrived home and now they only needed to dock and power down. “USS Scavenger this is Admiral Lin, welcome home.” A Trill Admiral said on the view screen. Paikea had never met him, but even a stranger was a welcomed sight. “Thank you Admiral, we will be docking momentarily,” T’Mar responded. The helmsman had eased the ship inside the station and once it was docked the engines were shut down and the Scavenger was attached to the station. The crew of the Scavenger was finally back at home port safe and sound. OCC: I am the newest member of the crew, but I have to say that I have really enjoyed myself this mission. When I first joined everyone was posting, but that slowed and it was left to me and Illito. Yet I loved every moment of it. So I would like to thank Commodore T'Mar, Commander Tintagel and the rest of the Scavenger crew who are currently not here for making this a great mission and I can't wait for another one. So for now I hope I'm not overstepping the Past and Present mission is over and R&R can offically begin, but just to be sure lets wait for confirmation from Commodore T'Mar

=^=Bridge to Commodore T'Mar please report to the bridge=^=
T'Mar was already on her way back to the bridge when the call from the USS Sarek came. She commended Katie for replying the hail elloquently. "Captain Jacobs, I thank you for escorting us. Perhaps you can send aid to help repair as much in advance as we can." "Cartainly commdore, it will save time in space dock" Jacobs grinned. "We've been looking into the matter about these Romulan ships but the Romulan authorities have not yet responded. But I expect this matter to be handled on a political level." "Indeed" T'Mar replied. "On both sides there is reason to maintain the treaties." After this chat, T'Mar went to sickbay to see if she could help Illito with some of her patients. She hoped she would be able to help her comatoze crewmembers by means of a mindmeld.

“Yes sir,” Illito replied, and Commodore T’Mar left. Illito turned back, searching for a solution.T'Mar later got a report from the doctor that the patients were waking up from coma. She returned to sickbay to see how they were doing. "They're slowly waking up" Illito smiled. "I expect they'll recover in the next couple of days. I'm glad I've found a way to cure them." T'Mar nodded. "A mindmeld with a nonvulcan is somewhat trickier. But I am gratified you have found another solution. When will they be able to return to duty?" "I expect in a two or three days" Illito answered. "But how long since you've had any rest?" T'Mar sighed. "Too long. But I'll be able to get a few hours sleep in an hour." "Make sure you do" Illito smiled. "I also need some rest. It's been very busy the past few days." "It has been demanding on all of us. I'll see you in the morning." On the bridge hours went by in silence until Paikea couldn't hold it in anymore.
"Are you glad to be heading back home Commodore?" Paikea asked.
"Why yes, I think my daughter will enjoy the change of scenery," T'Mar said.

After docking she made an announcement. "This is an official announcement from your commanding officer. Everyone not currently involved with repairs, can go to the starbase for a well earned period of leave. Have a good time. This message ends." She made a round along several departments including sickbay and engineering. Illito said she was glad things were quieting down in sickbay and that she was considering taking a couple of days off when she was certain her personnel would be able to handle the remaining patients, but now all medical personnel was still needed. Engineering was shaping up well with the help of the starbase's personnel. At last she arrived at her quarters and sat down to dinner which her husband had prepared. He was an adequate cook. She found that her daughter was growing up fast. She fed her some mashed vegetables half of which ended up all around the table. "There's much to see at the starbase. Let's go there tomorrow and have a look around" T'Mar said. Her husband nodded. "I agree. There is a library and a lab I wish to visit." "I think the hydroponic gardens would be agreable for our daughter. We will go there first for a walk and then I'll take her back to the ship and oversee repairs here. You'll have plenty of time for research." So they agreed. OC: I'll think of a new plot for a mission. If you have ideas, I'll kick the idea topic upwards so you can post there. It was great fun this story. Lots of unexpected twists Well done! Cheers for all of us
