Jared looked around the table but everyone was too good mannered to be the first to talk about themselves. He decided it would be better this time to give manners a miss before Simon and Garfunkle's Sound of Silence became the national anthem of the table.
'I am Reman Jared, I was born and grew up on my father's starship and this starbase is the first place in a long time that I will have slept on which is not capable of going at warp speed. This lady here' he indicated E'Liana 'is a medical student who I met before a few years ago and once again a few minutes ago. The Lieutanant is the ever so helpful Lieutanant Joan McCormick, the baby used to belong to Commander Hope there but probably only until Mark Reynolds can hide her in his jacket and make his escape. I don't think I know anyone enough really to go into great detail on them so I'll leave that to them. But Bajor, nice place, my father's going out that way and beyond. Your music in the promenade was very good; I hope you find time to perform more.'
Jared took a deep breath. That had been quite some speech to give without inhaling much, but it had covered all the basics and should be enough to break the ice. There had been a lot of ice to break so far at this table so it was better to do it quickly this time. He just hoped he had succeeded.

Kedzie sat in silence for a while, thinking over what to order and hoping that someone would talk, when one of the Cadets began to introduce everyone. Kedzie smiled thankfully at him, and was surprised at the complement about her playing. She wouldn’t have thought that a flute could carry this far, the bakery was fairly noisy. Evidently the flute was a good deal louder than the Bellaclavion. Kedzie made a mental note to remember that.
Kedzie listened to the introductions, then nodded slightly towards the man in what she thought was a marine uniform. She hadn’t caught his name, but she wasn’t sure if that was because Jared had forgotten to introduce him, which was perfectly understandable, there were a lot of people, or because there had been too many names for her to remember all of them, even temporarily.

After Reman introduce himself it was up to Matt to introduce himself.
"Hi, I'm Matthew Reynolds or just Matt and not Mark," Matt said harshly looking at Reman with an eye, but then smiled. Reman became very red.
"I was also born in space, I was born aboard the USS Hood, where my parents where CO, and XO. I had two brothers, but one died in the Dominion War." Everyone at that gave a slight gasp, but Matt just continued not wanting to stall there. "and as you can see I love babies."

Hearing the compliment she smiled and looked around to see who was all here, and to listen a little on the conversation.
"I was also born in space, I was born aboard the USS Hood, where my parents where CO, and XO. I had two brothers, but one died in the Dominion War." Everyone, except Joan, at that gave a slight gasp, but Matt just continued not wanting to stall there. "and as you can see I love babies." Joan tried not to look embarressed at not knowing anything about the war that was just mentioned. She makes a mental note to look up Star Fleet history as soon as she can.
"So what to talk about now?" She says just as Maria arrives to take the newest member's order.
"Ok, dear, what delious confection can I bring you?" Maria says smiling.

“I was also born in space, I was born aboard the USS Hood, where my parents where CO, and XO. I had two brothers, but one died in the Dominion War.” Kedzie gasped slightly at that, how horrible! She knew people who had siblings or parents lost, but each time she met someone she felt the same sympathy as she felt for everyone else who had endured such a tragedy. Kedzie could tell though that Matt didn’t want to dwell on it. “And as you can see I love babies,” he finished, in what Kedzie thought was an attempt to lighten the mood.
“That is pretty clear,” she agreed, looking again at the child Matt was cuddling.
“Ok, dear, what delious confection can I bring you?” asked a woman.
“I’ll have a hot chocolate, thank you,” Kedzie smiled at the woman who had taken her order.
“What’s the child’s name?” asked Kedzie, the question either to Commander Hope and to Matt. “And how old are she and her...sister?”

Fenel arrived only a short while after Matthew (NPC) and was confused at why he had taken so long untill he handed her the Tonic water she had mentioned earlier. Fenel glanced around at the others and noticed it was not only Cadets visiting, there was a marine and several ranking officers. However the cheerful atmosphere put her at ease and she settled down on the edge of the group with her beverage. Glancing around once more she realised that a multitude of species were represented (her mother would be thrilled).

Joan notices the new person, and smiles. What turned out to be a little group has escalated. This is so cool. All I did was try and help a friend, and now I have a large group of people talking. I should try this more often. She thinks.
"Welcome to our group. I am Joan McCormick. Feel free to pull up a chair, and leave your worries behind. We are just having nothing but fun chatting here." Joan says as Maria brings Kedzie's hot chocolate. The woman notices another new member and shakes her head chuckling.
"What may I bring you?" Maria says looking over at Fenel.

Kedzie noticed the Bolian come in and settle herself along the edge of the group, fairly near to Kedzie. After she heard the answers to her questions, Kedzie turned to look at the Bolian. “Hello, I’m Shikako Kedzie,” she introduced herself. “I’m not going to try to introduce the rest of the group, as I only just joined them myself.”
The woman she had ordered from brought Kedzie’s hot chocolate, and Kedzie sipped it cautiously, then smiled in approval. It was fairly good, even if it still was a bit too hot. Kedzie set it down to cool off, then waited to hear from the new Cadet.

(O.O.C I just realised I used the name Matthew for an NPC, My apologise Matt Reynolds, I won't mention him again to keep things from getting complicated.)
"No thank you, I have a drink already." Fenel answerd the waiter, holding up her tonic water.
"My name is Fenal Yevar. I arrived less then half an hour ago from Bolarius IX." Fenel introduced herself as she moved her chair further into the group, adjusting it so that she could see and hear everyone. "I'm still a little sore from those awful transport seats. I certainly hope the training vessels are a little more up to date."
Fenel took a sip of her water, and allowed the drink to calm her nerves, normally she tried to avoid tight crowds.

Joan heard her, and chuckled remembering the transport up here.
"I quite agree with you about those seats. They should fix that problem. As for the training vessel, things are better than that. I remember mine, and I know why. I think ours was a little out in the extreme zones though. It was fun, and a few bonds did form, which happens. Is the campout still going on later? If so, who is all going?" Joan says looking around trying to spot those going.

S'reena chuckled at the mention of being out on extreme zones, as Joan was quite correct about that. How often did a cadet defect to the Maquis to pull out a CO? Then she realized the Bajoran, who had introduced herself as Kedzie asked a question.
"Mr Reynolds is holding Yarna, who is ten months old," she replied, then tickled her other daughter, who squirmed and giggled in response, "Kahlan here is almost three, aren't you?"
Kahlan giggled again in response, but didn't say anything else and hid her face against her mother's shoulder. S'reena 'tsk'd' at the child, and winked at the Bajoran. "Funny, normally she isn't this shy. Nice music you played out there on the promenade. You reckon you could play for us later at a bonfire? Mr Reynolds has planned a camping trip on the holodeck and basically everyone is invited to come along."
She shot Matt a sharp look. "As long as we aren't going anywhere remotely near or on water."

Kedzie saw that Fenel seemed nervous around the large group of people, and Kedzie felt a twang of sympathy, but she didn’t see that there was that much that she could do. She wasn’t exactly comfortable herself. It was strange, she thought. She wasn’t afraid to stand up alone and play music in front of a large group of people, but talking to them, even if she mainly stayed silent, was very nerve-racking.
Commander Hope answered Kedzie’s question, and then tickled the older of the two girls, Kahlan. “I would be happy to play for you,” Kedzie replied. “How much later is it going to be?” she asked, wondering if she had enough time to go back to her room and exchange her flute for the bellaclavion. Still, even though she wished she had the bellaclavion with her, she realized that, since the table was so crowded, it was sort of nice to have an instrument that took up a bit less space and had its own case.

"We may still have a few people who don't want to go to the camp out. We need a good head count of those going." She says to the whole group, and sees Fenel isn't comfortable. She wonders what she should do.
"Fenel, are you alright? I know this is a large crowd, but we are all friends here, whether old friends or new ones." She says hoping to relax the girl. She remembers what S'reena said, and tells Fenel she will be right back, giving the girl an encouraging smiles. She walks over next to S'reena and taps her on the shoulder. She sees she has the woman's attention. She bends down a little so only S'reena can hear her.
"Was that water bit for me?" She asks, and gets a reply quickly. She rejoins Fenel and Kedzie hoping to get them out of this shy shell they have around them.

"Fenel, are you alright? I know this is a large crowd, but we are all friends here, whether old friends or new ones." Joan asked.
"It's nothing. I was born and raised on a large freighter with a small crew. I've never beeen good with crowds and the time difference from Bolarius IX is starting to get at me." Fenel replied, hoping the excuse would be good enough to spur off any more questions. Eventually they would realise the truth. She could hid it fairly well, but come that night it would become more obviose. "I'd love to go the campfire with you, it's been along time since I've been at a camp out."

Matt had been holding Yarna for about an hour. In that time there group of 4 adluts went to a group of like 10. Matt was happing to not say anthing. He was happy just holding the baby.
"Can't wait to have one," Matt told the baby in a whisper," and I hope they are as cute as you." The baby then after trying to go to sleep closed her eyes and didn't open them. Commander S'reena saw that Yarna fell asleep and offered to take her off Matt's hands, but Matt said.
"No way, I'm not giving up this little treasure,"
"You do know that you can't keep her, right," S'reena smiled at Matt
"And why not," Matt responded and gave a big smile to the Commander.

Kedzie glanced at Matt, who was cuddling the now-sleeping baby. He looked as if it was the most natural thing in the world for him to be doing. Kedzie began to think that Reman had been right when he said that Matt was going to steal the baby.
Kedzie was glad that Lieutenant McCormick tried to help Fenel feel more comfortable. Kedzie had been hoping that someone else would notice the Cadet’s evident unease. Fenel tried to assure the Lieutenant that she was fine, but Kedzie wasn’t convinced.
“When was the last time you went on a camp out? You mentioned that it had been a while,” Kedzie commented, attempting to overcome her shyness and open a conversation with Fenel. “And do you know what you want to train as?” she asked.

IC: She noticed Kedzie trying to help with this woman as well, and then Joan realized Kedzie hadn't said much in this whole conversation.
"So, Kedzie and Fenel, what do you like to do for fun? I know, Kedzie, you like to play music, but is that it?" She says looking from one to the other.

“I know, Kedzie, you like to play music, but is that it?” Lieutenant McCormick asked.
Kedzie smiled abashedly, that pretty much was it. “Well, I like to spend time with my younger sister, that is, adopted sister,” Kedzie corrected herself. In general, Kedzie simply referred to her sister, Laias, as her actual sister, but Kedzie thought that otherwise she might confuse people. And she really didn’t really want to confuse them.
“My sister, Laias, is a year younger than me. We like to talk together, as well as play darts.” Kedzie smiled faintly, remembering the time that she had practiced darts for weeks in secret, trying to be able to beat Laias at them, only to find that Laias had discovered what she was doing and had also started practicing. Kedzie didn’t remember ever having won a game, but she didn’t really remember that many of the games very specifically. She just remembered that she had enjoyed them. Kedzie wondered briefly if she could find someone else to play darts with.

"Well I dont know how good I would be at it, Kedzie, but sure I would love to play a game of darts with you. I could also practice in between games, so you might have some competition. It's up to you though. I have never really played before, but it could be fun learning." She says hoping that Kedzie wants to play, as Joan likes to learn about new things. She remembers about Fenel. "Fenel could even join us, if she wants to. If not to play, then just to keep us some company." She says trying not to forget the other girl.

“I would be happy to teach you,” Kedzie said to the instructor, although she did think it would be a little odd to be teaching an instructor. Even if she wasn’t a Cadet, she still respected the authority that came with such a position.
“I would be happy if you joined us, Fenel,” Kedzie invited, hoping that the Bolian would indeed decide to join them, if they ever actually got around to playing darts. What with the camping trip, they might not get around to doing everything that they had planned to do. “If anyone else wants to join us, they are welcome to,” Kedzie opened the invitation to everyone.

"Darts.. I can't play darts." Fenel replied abruptly.
"Why not, it's not that hard, I can teach you." Kedzie offerd.
"No, um... well to tell you the truth I would never be able to hit the target, no matter how much I practiced." Fenel realised it was probably time to let them know why she seemed to be acting so odd. "I hide it well, but I can't see out of my right eye, or hear out of my right ear for that matter." She let it soak in. "I've had it since I can remember, no technology will ever be able to help me so I've learned to live with it. Darts however is out of the queastion, as are most things requiring depth perception, or balance. I will keep you company though, and makesure no one cheats."
"I do enjoy photography, capturing a single moment for all eternity." Fenel took a step to bring the conversation back to things she felt comfortabel with. "I also love to read and cook. Although I doubt many of you would enjoy Bolian Cuisine."
"Why is that?" Matt asked as he stroaked the baby's forhead.
"Partialy decayed and sometimes highly acidic. not many other species can handle it." Fenel laughed. But I'll make you something a little rawer and basic sometimes if you'd like. Maybe I'll bring something to the campout."

"Alright, listen up," Joan says as she stand as it is time to start our little adventure, and sees she has everyone's attention. "Here is what we will do. Everyone is to go back to their quarters and pack their camping gear. Those who will not be staying the night won't need it. If you won't be staying overnight, please let us know. We will meet back here in half an hour. See you all then." She says quickly, and they all head their seperate ways, except S'reena.
"I noticed you were the only one who brought any gear. That was a good idea, and I should have thought of that. I just wasn't sure how long Illito was going to stay. I'm going to get mine. I already packed it, and have a few ideas about tonights camp. I think they need to learn a few more things before we head out on a mission." She says, and then leaves after S'reena is done talking to her.
Once everyone is here, we all head for the holodeck. Some talk to others behind them. Joan sticks to Fenel and Kedzie, knowing they might like the company. They don't say much, and Joan looses herself deep in thought. It isn't long before we arrive at the holodeck.
"Computer open camp five beta six." Joan hears someone say, but can't put the voice to a name. They enter the holodeck, and find they are in the woods. S'reena motions for Joan, and she tells the two cadets she will be back. They talk for a few moments, and then Joan goes to address the troops, and then she sees Jason. She smiles at him and nods acknowledging him.
"Ok, here is what we will do. The campsite is a little ways off, and we have to hike to it. Along the way I want the cadets to notice mother nature to see what they might learn from it. Don't be afraid to tell about something you see, just please don't be too loud. We might see some wild animals. When we get to the site, we will have to make our own camp, and we will see what happens after that." She says confident enough that she has given them a good outline. She motions for the two cadet companions she had early, and they set out to find camp.

Jason walks along, carrying a large pack on his back. Among other things within it were a tent and sleeping bag. A sheathed hatchet hung at his belt, alongside a hunting knife, and there was even an axe strapped to the frame of his back.
He chose to actually dress for this, rather than rely on holodeck clothing. He was wearing jeans and a long-sleeve brown flannel shirt. He also had the ever-present black felt hat on his head.
He looked over at the Cadets, realizing they probably didnt know them. "Hmmm, perhaps I should introduce myself. I'm Jason Black, Chief Medical Officer of the Hanson. I am also an experienced outdoorsman. You may feel the urge to address me as Doctor, or Commander, but please, call me Jason. And if you must address me with a title, use Doctor."
He walked along, finding his way carefully down the trail. "For those wondering, I designed this program myself. Though I have also programmed it with a bit of randomness so that the camp is never in exactly the same place, or with the same terrain. I prefer a little uncertainty."
He looked over at them. "And just by way of introduction, what are your names and what are you training in?"

Matt had brought all his camping gear with him, since he was going to spend the night camping with the others. Then Matt saw a commander walk into the clearing. He looked over at the Cadets, realizing they probably didnt know them. "Hmmm, perhaps I should introduce myself. I'm Jason Black, Chief Medical Officer of the Hanson. "Well Jason, I'm Cadet 4th Class Matthew Reynolds or just Matt and I'll be training aboard the Hepta in operations." Matt said to the Doctor.
