Nick stared at his double who was now sitting on the floor next to him. The two of them had an equal look of intrigue and confusion on their faces.
"So if you're me then what number am I thinking of?" The real Nick asked.
"69 dude," his double replied. They both scratched their gotees and let out a deep breath in unison. The two Sonaks looked at them in fascination. The twitches, scratches and groans were the same, as was the dog tired look of fatigue.
"Commander Martens," Sonak 1 asked.
"Yes ma'am," the two replied.
"The one at the helm," Sonak 1 said bluntly, "What stopped us?"
"I'd say the fact that our engines weren't running. As to why we kept moving well I couldn't really give you an answer. Maybe currents in the nebula, or severe flatulence from the engineering crews, I couldn't say," he followed the comment up with a simultanious shrug with his double. His console started beeping at the same time.
"We're getting info from the probes," The ops officers reported.

ooc: atrocious? ? what's that? ic: "Do we?" Sonak bounced back at her duplicate, "we have yet to establish that you really are me, and where you have come from. Obviously, your appearance is directly linked to us being pulled into this nebula. However, we have yet to determine what your purpose is. Until then, I will not have you wander around freely aboard my ship, and I will advise my senior staff to keep an eye on their duplicates." <Duplicate Sonak> "Until then, I have a question for you. Why was I adopted and raised by human parents? If you really are me, then you will be able to tell me the details of this." <Duplicate Sonak> Commodore Sonak Reckus turned to her chief navigations officer. "Can you navigate us out of this nebula?" she asked, her voice devoid of any emotion, though she was actually feeling very annoyed. Nick had been right, why did they get assigned to all the crazy missions? <Martens> Just at that point, Reman and L'Ola came back onto the bridge; Sonak had never noticed Reman had ever left his post. "Welcome back you two," she said, "I see you have also met your duplicates. Keep an eye on them, that is an order." <Reman/L'Ola> Sonak glanced sideways at the counselor. "Make that double crew evaluations ensign, I want the duplicates evaluated as well." The Vulcan then tapped her combadge. "Bridge to Admiral Hepta, please report to the bridge. We have a situation." <Hepta> "Mommy?" Sevus suddenly called, gazing at both women, though he knew that one of them was his mother, the other was not. Yet he didn't figure out yet who was and who wasn't. His real mother strode over to him and picked him up. "What is his name?" she challenged her duplicate, as she held him close to her, and well out of her duplicate's range. So far, this woman had answered all her challenges positively, which made her believe now that she was indead an identical copy of herself. <Duplicate Sonak>

OOC: It is an additional method of saying terrible.
IC: She comprehends that things are a bit shaky with her just appearing, and she wonders how much this woman actually knows. “I conquer with your assessment, and I will have all of my crew forewarned about not interfering in any way, shape, or form. This is still your vessel, and I am not the one in authority. My people will comply with me, and I will have them conform to your crew. We don’t want to produce dilemmas, but since we are here, maybe we can facilitate to discover the explanation that caused us to immediately emerge here.” She says recognizing that things may possibly get really unsteady if she doesn’t acquire her spitting image's confidence.
“As for your inquiry, well our, I mean your, parents were killed in an ion storm when they both served on the USS Poseidon near the Romulan frontier. You were on earth during that incident, and your adopted father was assisting your parents by safeguarding you when you were there.” She steps back hoping this will suffice for now, not wanting to say too much. She observes as the look alike provides instructions for the crew, and then her son arouses desiring his mother, but isn’t positive which is his mom. The twin her goes to her son picking him up, and then turns directly to her with an additional question.
“Sevus.” She counters, and then hears her own son approach from where he was concealed. She picks him up, and he yawns.

"I'm not entirly sure ma'am, as I don't even know how we started moving or stopped. I'll work on it though," Nick 1 said to Sonak 1.
"Very well Commander. Keep me updated."
He turned to his counterpart who seemed to be thinking the same thing. The two of them could work together on the problem, after all if this double truly was him then the problem would be solved twice as fast. The double took the adjacent station next to Nick and they began cycling through scenarios.
"So I guess that if you're me you'd know why I am the way I am right now," Nick asked his double as they were running a simulation.
"Yeah, your daughter Jannis is lying in a hospital paralized from the neck down. You wish you could have raised her in a safer environment and now you believe the events leading to now are some sort of payment. Yeah I know why you are the way you are," the double answered. Nick smiled slightly, his question had reveiled exactly what he was looking for. He tapped in a sequence of commands and changed his command codes and locked his personal file, all without his double noticing.
"I'm gonna go for a drink, want me to bring you back anything?" Nick asked the double.
"Nah, I'll stay here and monitor our progress. Actually a coffee would be great. You know staying up for 4 shifts in a row is a bit draining," the double answered. Nick nodded and walked to the briefing room. He ordered up a drink then sat down and stared out at the nebula. He mulled over the events of the last day or two and took another sip.
"Something troubling you Commander?" Sonak asked walking into the room, having seen him walk in looking somewhat troubled.
"Just thinking about things. I'm feeling quite tired actually," he said and took another sip of his drink.
"Well 4 shifts in a row will do that to you Commander," she chided.
~it was actually 5 ma'am~ he projected.
~5 what Nick~ came sonaks reply. He stared at the Sonak in front of him and took another sip.
~You just said I'd done 4 shifts in a row. I've been on for 5.~
~I assure you commander I did not say anything. I'm actually standing on the bridge right now. My double just walked into the briefing room for a drink.~
~ah ok~ he replied and nodded with a coi smile at Sonak.
"Yeah I guess that could be it," he replied. He made a mental note about the telepathy. Didn't seem that the doubles could transmit or recieve.
"Get some rest. We need you alive to work with this double of yours." She said.
"Indeed. Sleep. Not a bad idea," he stood up and saluted, "Goodnight ma'am." With that he walked out and into the turbolift.

Nephi, Sarah, Carl and their respective duplicates were all gathered in his Office. "Alright," Nephi 1 said, "we need to figure out what happened, and how we all came to have duplicates. For starters, how did we get going that fast."
"Thats the biggest thing we can't explain," Carl 1 replied. "Our energy output came nowhere close to being correspondent to the speed."
"Not to mention the fact that we're not even capable of such power," Carl 2 pointed out. "If we actually producing the necessary energy, the Impulse reactors would have exploded."
"Which means the nebula was accelerating us somewhere," Nephi 2 concluded. "There's got to be some kind of gravity well occuring further into the nebula. After all, we noted that the Helm ordered a full stop at the nebula's edge, but we kept going."
"But a gravity well wouldn't explain our curved path," Sarah 1 pointed out. "Despite an attempt to travel in a straight line. There must have been some acceleration effect within the nebula, non-direction specific."
"Alright then," Nephi 1 said. "So the nebula accelerated us. I checked, and by the time we stopped, which must have been some effect of the nebula due to differences in the laws of physics, we were travelling at 90% the speed of light."
"Which corresponds to an increase in mass by a factor of 2," Nephi 2 pointed out. "I checked the sensors, and when we came to a halt, it registered a split of matter at the subatomic level. A form of atomic miosis, if you will."
"And we checked," Sarah 2 said, indicating she and Sarah 1, "And there's some unique quantum properties that allowed the split matter to reform to create a second complete whole."
"Then why not a second Vesuvius as well?" Nephi 1 asked.
"Apparently it was too large," Sarah 1 replied. "The miosis allowed the matter only to travel so far, like up to a meter, and it would have had to have been a few hundred for a whole ship to form.
"And thus people were duplicated, but not the ship," Nephi 1 concluded. He tapped his commbadge. "Engineering to Bridge. Commodore, I believe we have an explanation on what happened."

"Go ahead commander, we are listening," Sonak replied.
As she listened to Nephi's report, she saw her 'twin's' son appear too and she wondered if Sevus' duplicate really was the other woman's son, or merely just a mirror of her own son. From the corner of her eyes she saw Nick walk into one of the briefingrooms, and she couldn't really blame him.
~I really should order him to bed~ she thought, as she watched her duplicate also enter the same briefingroom. The next thing she knew she was in a telepathic conversation with Nick, which greatly troubled her.
Her gaze locked with her first offïcer. ~Lock your personnel file, and while you are at it, lock them of all our own crewmembers~ she thought at her, knowing now that the counterpart wouldn't hear. She nodded briefly towards the briefingroom. ~something is not right, but I cannot tell what exactly. While they cannot catch onto our thoughts, I cannot catch her thoughts either and that worries me~

ooc: sorry for this late reply.
After the Vesuvius had come to a sudden stop, both Fox and his duplicate were standing at the Science station monitoring the sensor readings.
The original looked at the ships readings while his duplicate watched the ones from the probe.
As Nephi 1's report came in on the bridge, Fox 2 'thought loud'. "Maybe the probe we send in triggered something inside the nebula."
Fox 1 looked at him, hearing in Nephi's report that the nebula pulled them in. He spoke "but the sudden stop is very odd. We didn't bump into something according to our sensors, also the density of the nebula is normal, it would slow us down without propulsion, but not a sudden stop."
"But nephi's theory of a gravity well could explain the stop." Fox 2 continued "We should be at the center of it then. Odd enough the probe doesn't register anything like a gravity well."
"Neither do the ships sensors." Fox 1 added.

The expression on L'Ola's face didn't change one bit, her Vulcan family had taught her that much. "Commodore, may I borrow your ready room for a few minutes? I have some confidential crew reports to finish reading."
"Of course, Commander."
L'Ola left the Bridge and sat down in the Captain's chair. "Computer, lock the door to this room for the next five minutes. Only release before that time on dual authorisation from Commodore Sonak outside this room and myself inside."
"Door locked, 4 minutes and 58 seconds remaining."
With ruthless efficiency the First Officer got to work locking files, starting with personnel files and logs, moving on to anything else that could easily be used for reference. The ship could function without them for a while, but there was a slim chance it would make life harder for the doubles.
~ Sonak, everything is locked. I'll be out there in 20 seconds when the door unlocks. ~
~ Acknowledged ~ came the reply.
L'Ola sat back and sighed. Things were going to get very complicated.

Syal finished her interview with the Admiral and turned around, seeing another Syal facing her. She inhaled suddenly, surprised to say the least. “What’s going on?” She asked her double. She looked around and saw doubles everywhere! ~Well, this wouldn’t happen on Bajor~ She mused to herself.
During the confusion and general panic, Syal decided to ignore her double who was attempting to talk to her - the thought of another her was incredibly disconcerting so she chose to ignore it for the time being and focus of the crew - her patients.
Looking around the bridge, she saw people coming to terms with what was going on, and noticed that Commander Martens was having some trouble. She had previously assessed him - although limitedly - to be somewhat more ‘fragile’ than the others and seemed to have an attraction to Kanz, but Syal wasn’t too sure right now.
Walking up to who she thought was the original Martens, she said “How are you feeling?”
<TAG Martens>
“How do you feel about your double?” She asked, eyeing the other Martens with suspicion.

"Basically what we've concluded is that the nebula pulled us in somehow, perhaps some sort of gravity well. It accelerated past what we're capable of doing at Impulse, and doubled our mass. Somehow, when we hit the edge of the nebula, we stopped. All of the matter on the ship split, duplicating the crew. The effect wasn't large enough to duplicate the ship, which is why we don't have a second Vesuvius as well. The quantum properties allowed the matter to form a complete and seperate whole from the original, instead of scattering like it should."
"I would recommend sticking around for a while," Nephi 2 offered. "These are very unusual circumstances, and they warrant further investigation. I, well the other Nephi and I both, minored in Astrophysics in college. We'd love the chance to study this thing.

"Obviously," Sonak replied, raising an eyebrow at her own double, "but are our doubles real in the sense that they are individuals, or do they have a mind of their own?"
<Nephi (either)>
Settling her six-year old son back in the command chair, she then walked over to the science station and peered over Fox' shoulder at the readings. "Your opinion commander?" she asked him, as she took a step back to give him more room to work.
<Fox 1>
She gazed at the science officer's double, who seemed to have interest only for her real science officer. Walking back to her chair, and her own double who had returned to the bridge along with her navigations chief, she nodded encouragingly at her own counselor, whom she saw stepping up to Martens. ~he needs to talk to someone~ Sonak thought encouragingly ~perhaps he will talk to you where he may not talk to me or L'Ola~
<Mira>
The sound of the turbolift doors opening, diverted her attention from Martens and Mira, and she saw Hepta stroll onto the bridge, a very annoyed and somewhat shocked look on his face. As expected he was followed closely on his heels by a double of himself. "Ah admiral, I see you have been copied as well," she commented, motioning for him to sit down in the executive's chair. "I apollogize for my seat being vacant. My son is ill and I do not wish to leave him alone in my quarters. As my bondmate is also extremely busy, I cannot bring him to sickbay either."
<Hepta>
"It seems we are going to be stuck together for an unknown length of time," Sonak commented to her double, "I will have guest quarters arranged, though some of your crew may have to bunk together because we may not have the room if every crewmember and civillian on this ship has been copied."
<sonak2>
"How do you suggest we proceed?" she then querried, wondering if this double would make the same suggestion as she would herself.

She acknowledges the commodore as he comes onto the bridge, and perceives the conversation between the complementary her and the commodore. She expresses nothing more, and continues to hold her child.
“Yes, I am in accordance, and it won’t be a hindrance. We aspire to cause no trouble while here, and if feasible, we would like to contribute.” She declares as her son desires to be placed down, and she does so letting him meander a bit.
“I recommend we proceed cautiously, since your crew almost certainly doesn’t trust mine, and we most likely don’t trust yours either. I wouldn’t be flabbergasted if we were locked out of the crucial systems by now. I’m confident my command code doesn’t work, and I wouldn’t undertake such an endeavor even if it did. I recognize this is your ship, and I will do nothing unless you desire it. Convey to me how you wish us to be of assistance.” She responds wondering if this might be the commencement of the crew confiding in them more, but knows better than to inflate her expectations.

-¦- Scene: USS Vesuvius-A, Bridge -¦-
<snip from Sonak> "Ah admiral, I see you have been copied as well," she commented, motioning for him to sit down in the executive's chair. "I apollogize for my seat being vacant. My son is ill and I do not wish to leave him alone in my quarters. As my bondmate is also extremely busy, I cannot bring him to sickbay either." </snip>
"And all nanny's are also extremely busy, I guess," Hepta muttered. Sonak shot him a look that made it very clear he was not to interfere with how she handled her children, but that was hardly a reason to stop. "Commodore, the bridge is no place for children, especially not in emergency situations. He will be much safer alone in his quarters."
"Both of them," the other Hepta added, looking at Sonak's duplicate. Her son was walking around freely, which was even worse than the real Sonak's son sitting quietly in the command chair.
<Sonak/Sonak 2>
Hepta shrugged. It wasn't his responsibility to keep those kids safe. "Just know whom to blame when something happens to them."
<Sonak>
The Commodore turned away from him to discuss the ship's situation with her double, coming to an agreement of sorts on how to proceed from here. It struck Hepta how different the two women actually were. The alternate Sonak talked like a real Vulcan, saying things like, "Convey to me how you wish us to be of assistance," whereas the real Sonak would simply put it like, "Tell me how you want us to help." The differences were all the more remarkable given how similar Hepta's own double had turned out to be.
As the conversation between the two Sonaks went on, Hepta got an increasingly strong feeling that the second Sonak was not at all a copy of the first one. But there was more, as he suddenly realized... Somewhere, something really didn't fit.
"Commodore," he spoke when Sonak and Sonak finished. "Would you join me in your ready room for a moment?"
Sonak nodded and she and Hepta left the bridge, leaving their duplicates behind. Hepta made sure the door was closed before telling Sonak of his "discovery." She nodded in agreement when he mentioned the fair amount of differences between herself and her double, as opposed to the seemingly complete lack of differences between Hepta and his double.
"That's not all though," Hepta added. "Why didn't we get a copy of the entire ship?"
"According to Cmdr. Jacobson, it was too large."
"Very well." Of course, Hepta already knew that explanation. "So what about our equipment? I had a tricorder on me when we entered the nebula, and my double now also has one. There was another tricorder on my desk, but that one wasn't copied. Obviously my uniform was copied onto my double, but the spare uniform I had hanging on a chair is still on its own." He paused for dramatic effect. "Commodore, whatever happened, it wasn't as simple as what Cmdr. Jacobson deduced."

"Obviously," Sonak replied, "but are our doubles real in the sense that they are individuals, or do they have a mind of their own?"
Nephi raised his eyebrows at his staff and duplicates alike. His own duplicate just shook his head. "Commodore," he responded, "we're engineers, not psychologists. Asking the Ms. Siyal, either one of them, would be more effective."

Sam looked down at the drink in front of him and sighed. Something just wasn't right. And for the first time in years he felt like there was no one he could talk to. The few friends he had on the ship were on duty, and the situation had forced external comm channels to be closed.
Worse still he still had a clone running around somewhere. It had been a close call as to whether he should sit and relax or try to get rid of some energy. Apparently it was so close that his duplicate had decided on the other option.
Recently relieved of babysitting duties, Jason Carter walked into the mess hall. He couldn't help noticing the depressed engineer and went to join him.
"You're Ed's friend, right?"
"And you're the person that knows more about my other best friend than I probably ever will."
Jason smiled, "Actually half the ship falls into that category."
This surprised Sam a little but made sense at the same time. "Okay then... So how are you getting on with the other you?"
"Fine. Although his Louise is screaming her head off so he hasn't escaped yet. How about you?"
Sam shrugged his shoulders, "Alright I guess. We're both trying to avoid He Who Must Not Be Blamed."
"Excuse me?"
"I have a bit of a personality conflict with our Chief Engineer."
Jason nodded in acknowledgement, "You're not the first person to hate their boss."
"I don't know how much longer I can take it, and it's only just started. Maybe it was a stupid decision to transfer here."
There was a slight pause as the science officer tried to decide what to say. "I'd suggest talking to your friends about it. And in the mean time just enjoy thinking evil thoughts."
The doors to the mess hall opened again and Jason walked in, "Ah there you are, my crazy clone"
The Jason sat next to Sam grinned, "Well I'm not exactly hard to find. Shall we head up to work?"
Both copies of Lt Carter headed off, leaving Lt Joughin even more confused than he had been before.
"Excuse me Mr Science Guys" a little voice said from close to floor level.
Both versions of Lt Carter looked down. The original answered "Hello. My name's Jason, what's yours?"
"Gemma" she replied proudly, "Is it true that we've all split in half and are going to keep splitting in half until we fill the whole ship?"
"No, nothing bad like that is happening. We've just all got an extra friend for a while."
Obviously satisfied with the response, Gemma skipped back down the corridor.
Tossing the PADD between her hands, L'Ola looked her double in the eye. "This is still kind of weird, isn't it?"
"Definitely."
The original first officer was about to say something else when the two copies of Jason appeared on the Bridge. One went straight to Fox and Fox, and the other went to the two copies of Kanz.
"Sir, I would recommend having someone talk to the civilians about all of this. They're getting kind of worked up."
Kanz nodded, "Good idea, I have to send someone down in that direction anyway." She walked over to Ops and looked at the original Jared, "Can you go work your magic with our civilian population? For some reason they seem to like you. And while you're down there could you take a look at the door to cargo bay 4, we've been having some problems with it?"

Jared didn't like having a copy of himself around. It wasn't right, the creature wasn't right. He had heard the Sonak copy basically say that they were something beyond mere clones. Still, the copy seemed to have his memories and know what he knew and that wasn't good. The copy right now was at the back of the bridge, Jared had made sure he was somewhere in sight.
Kanz came up to him 'Can you go work your magic with our civilian population? For some reason they seem to like you. And while you're down there could you take a look at the door to cargo bay 4, we've been having some problems with it?' Jared suspected the reason the civilians liked him was because he made sure nothing happened to the ship he was living on. Nothing harmed survival chances like having the surrounding starship disappear in a cloud of sparks. 'I'll see what I can do, sir' he said to Kanz. He wasn't surprised the door was having trouble, it was flashing on his console and he had just been about to suggest he go and look at it. He went towards the turbolift and gestured to his copy on the way to follow. 'We're going to have a look at the cargo bay doors. First a need a particular tool for the job.' Jared left his copy by the doors of the lift on that deck as he went to his quarters. He returned fairly quickly after. 'Deck 5' he told the lift and it complied.
Soon enough, the two were in the cargo bay and the sound of buzzing could be heard from the large door at the back. It seemed to be trying to do something. Jared walked up to the console next to it whilst his copy looked at the main door sceptically. 'Are you sure it's really broken; it doesn't look it' the other asked 'Why else would we be here?' Jared snapped. A few buttons on the console were lit like someone was pressing them; Jared went to turn them off.
A few seconds later, the siren could be heard in the corridor outside, muffled by the large bay interior doors. Then came the sound of the outer doors slamming shut at emergency speed. Jared staggered out; his copy and half the cargo from the bay was missing.
'Jared to bridge, we have a problem. The cageobay doors blew open and my clone was crushed and then sucked into space. He's dead'
<Sonak/Kanz>
Suspicious as Jared was, in death the copy looked real enough. It had sounded and looked like a real person dying. Jared knew he wouldn't have survived, so neither could a clone. It seemed strange to have seen himself die. He wondered how the other copies would react...

Understanding the admiral’s expression, she doesn’t like the concept of abandoning her son in guest quarters, and is relieved to ascertain the nanny was in the neighborhood and currently not occupied. She contacts the woman, and has it prearranged where she will take her son to the woman. She holds out her hand indicating to the others that she will be back soon and proceeds before they can say anything, with her son right alongside her.
Once they arrive to the guest quarters, they determine they have beaten the nanny there. “Okay, now you are to be on your best behavior.” She says and positions herself down at her computer to wait. She endeavors an attempt to enter the main computer with the command codes she has, and discovers that her crew have been locked out.
=/\= Lt JG Brothis, we have a glitch, and I need you to deal with it. I need you to hack into the main computer and lock out the other crew.=/\= She says smiling as the nanny appears.
“Now remember, you are to behave, or I will find out. Trust me; you don’t want me to know about you being bad.” She says, and both of them just nod knowing exactly what will happen. “Computer, convey this to all of the senior duplicate crew members, and make it where the regular crew doesn't find out about this message.” She says as she departs her new quarters very discontented at being behind agenda.
=/\= Sorry to have to say this, and I know you were all looking forward to it, but do to the recent change in events, we will be doing our different parts in taking over the ship at a later time. I will let you all know when.” She says telling the computer to end message and send it.

"Computer, status of the files?"
"Files still encrypted."
Kanz hit her head with her hands, "This is taking way too long. Just need to concentrate. I know I can do this..." She entered another command sequence. "Computer, run the program again but including the new sequence."
She sat back while the computer took its time. Years of practice cracking into programs on Vulcan had taught her to be patient, but she had places to be.
"Reminder, it is five minutes until you're next appointment."
She swore loudly in reply, causing the computer to make some very confused comments. "Computer send a message to Commander Jared to let him know I'll be a little late."
Flicking through the sequences she'd set up so far, Kanz wouldn't have been surprised if it had taken a few more hours to decrypt the files. It was taking twice as long as usual as she had to make extra sure that no one could see her doing it.
A message appeared on the screen in front of her. She downloaded it onto a PADD and left the room immediately, making sure to lock the door with her own special instructions.
L'Ola sat looking at the information in front of her. Half the ship couldn't be trusted, and it was difficult to tell in most cases which half was which. They were in a nebula which was quite bizarre and needed further examination. And she felt like she had no one to talk to about anything. Everyone always seemed so busy.
The door chime rang, and she knew instantly who it was. "Door's open."
"Well that's a bit stupid," Lucy replied, grinning as she walked in.
The first officer raised her eyebrows, "It's not like I can encrypt my door. Some of us expect visitors. Now how can I help?"
Lucy sat down, "I was just playing a few games on the computer. Mostly a few testing algorithms that I picked up a few years ago. I happened to notice a few files that were hidden like we weren't supposed to find them..."
L'Ola couldn't help laughing, "I remember you mentioning hacking into files before, but this is impressive."
"Not really, this were really badly protected. Anyway, the computer's still decrypting them all in my quarters, but this is the first one I came across. Hope it helps. I would stay to help you go through them but it's time to go help my brain. See you later"
"See you around, Luce."
She flicked through the information her sort-of-daughter had found. One thing stuck out like a sore thumb.
'Sorry to have to say this, and I know you were all looking forward to it, but do to the recent change in events, we will be doing our different parts in taking over the ship at a later time. I will let you all know when'

Sonak resisted the urge to rub her eyes; she was starting to feel weary after pulling a double shift on the bridge. She had only had a few brief breaks, during which she had gone to fetch her son and take him with her to the bridge. Looking over her shoulder, she noted that Sevus was finally sleeping, despite the sounds on the bridge. ~I could use some too~ she thought to herself, and stole a glance at her navigator ~and so does he~
"Admiral Hepta, please assume command of the bridge," she then stated, looking directly at the old admiral, "my shift has ended hours ago and I really need to get some sleep. A tired commanding officer is prone to make mistakes, and since I do not intend on making any that will cost lives, I need to get some rest."
<Hepta>
She walked up to the old admiral. "Keep an eye on our doubles, and make sure we know at all times where they are," she whispered at the real Hepta in such a way his copy didn't hear, "they are not picking up on any telepathic thought. Commander Kanz, Commander Martens and I are telepathic. Doctor Reckus is also slightly empathic. If you need any of us, just send us a direct thought."
<Hepta>
On her way to the turbolift, she tapped the real Martens on his shoulder. "Off to bed with you commander," she ordered him, "and that is an order. Lieutenant Redshirt will be more than glad to fly this ship for you for the next eight hours. Yes commander, that is indeed the time you are going to sleep."
<Martens>
She walked into the nearest turbolift, waiting for Martens to enter also, when she received the thought coming from Kanz. Once the doors shut, she gave Martens a direct stare. "L'Ola has found something," she stated, "before going to bed we should go see what she has found. Come with me Nick."
Together, they walked towards the first officer's quarters. "What have you found commander?"

=/\= Lt JG Brothis, we have a glitch, and I need you to deal with it. I need you to hack into the main computer and lock out the other crew.=/\=
Brothis tapped his commbadge. "Acknowledged," the Security Officer responded. From his currently-quiet post in the Brig, he would be uninterrupted. The original of himself had left to help with security rounds, and he had been asked to keep an eye on the place.
From his console, he began to access the main computer. The Computer had more security protocols than usual, but that was to be expected given the enigmatic presence of the duplicates. It was encrypted by a Level 9 security clearance, which suggested the original Commander Kanz. Though Brothis's original had only a Level 5 clearance, the duplicate had more capabilities and techniques at his disposal.
He pulled a small, thick diamond-shaped device out of his pocket, and ran it over the console currently asking for his clearance. Within a moment, he had broken through the security.
With a speed that would have baffled his human counterpart, Brothis began entering an extremely complex encryption matrix. First went up a quantum-level encryption code, very complicated and time-consuming to break through. And that was only the first level. Next went up a fractal encryption code, and 3 more layers of increasingly complex encryption, the last of which were entirely unknown to the Federation.
That done, he sent a message to the duplicate Commodore, informing her that the task was complete.

Recieving the message, she contacts the duplicate doctor to get things moving in the right direction.
Doctor Caldwell recieves her message, and remembers exactly what to do. First thing first he has to get rid of his double and the real Dr. Reckus. He decides to put something in their drinks to make them sleep, and then put them in stasis. He remembers that there is a medicine that will do this to them, but not to him. He goes four cups of coffee for all of them, remembering to put the medicine in all four cups. He walks to where they are all talking.
"I thought we could all use some coffee." He says passing them all around. They all drink up, and when the original doctors are done, it takes only a minute before they both collapse to the ground in a deep sleep.
"Help me doctor, we are going to put them into stasis. Orders from our commodore." He says then smiles, and once it is done he contacts the commodore.
"Good job doctor. Dr. Reckus, you are to take his place, and help me take over for my original." She says.
Jatan smiles at his chief, and together with John Caldwell hauls their originals towards the stasis chambers. "We can't kill them, at least not the chief," Jatan told Sonak, "your original is telepathically linked to him. She'll know instantly if he's killed; however if he's asleep she'll never know. Earlier today I did something in her coffee, so her judgement will be off. I've already seen her today and between trying to command this ship, keeping an eye on us and trying to care for her sick son she's getting really exhausted."
He gave Sonak a wicked smile. "I wouldn't be surprised if she'll be walking in here soon for some reason or the other." And indeed, he had barely finished when the real Sonak walked into sickbay looking, as predicted, exhausted.

Getting really tired right now, Sonak excused herself from L'Ola's quarters, leaving Nick in charge to sift through all the given information together with the first officer. It would also give them some time alone, as Sonak surmised they'd need some time to talk and just be together. She picked up her son and carried him to her quarters, hoping Jatan would be home already.
Sonak was surprised to find her quarters deserted, her other children weren't home yet either. "Sonak to Rodriques," she called, "crewman could you please pick up my children from the daycare center? I am in my quarters with Sevus, and I cannot leave him alone."
"Rodriques here, I'll be with you in five minutes." And indeed, five minutes later the med tech stood in her livingroom, holding hands with her youngest twins. "Here they are ma'am, anything else you need?"
"Could you stay with them for a while?" She asked tiredly, "Jatan is not home yet, I am going to sickbay to see what is keeping him. Sevus is ill, he needs to be taken to bed, he will not eat anything. Could you also see to it that the others are fed and showered?"
"Certainly," Juan Rodriques nodded, "ma'am if I may say so, you look horrible. When is the last time you had any sleep?"
"Three days ago," Sonak prompted, "and I am exhausted. I will, hopefully, be back soon." The Vulcan walked out of her quarters, and less than ten minutes later walked into sickbay. "Jatan, what is keeping you?" she asked, gazing up at her bondmate. She saw him grin at her double, and wondered what was going on. She was too tired to even sense that the Jatan standing before her wasn't her own Jatan, but his double.
"John, I have a massive headache," she said, addressing Caldwell, "could you please give me something for it?" She wanted Caldwell to walk away, so she had a moment alone with Jatan. She did notice that her double had taken a few steps away to give them some privacy. "Why are you not home yet?" she then asked Jatan, "you know Sevus is ill, and that the other children needed to be picked up. That and I really need some sleep, I have been up for three days."
ooc: sonak2 could you take double Jatan as well?

Deciding to leave them be, she goes to see what Caldwell is up to, since he is taking too long with the medicine. She notices him picking up a hypospray. "What is that?" She says behind him.
"This is just a little something not only to help the commodore with her headache, but to make sure she joins her husband." He says smiling, as if he had come up with the whole plan himself.
"Good work, doc, but if I were you, I wouldn't go in there just yet. They need a moment alone." She says making sure the moment is just right.
"Three days? Well that isn't good, and you do need your rest. You can't run this ship and our family with no sleep. I don't like this, and you won't have to worry. You can get some sleep, and I will watch the children. Dr. Caldwell can handle things on this end, and as you see there isn't much here anyways. The crew is healthy, well we haven't checked the doubles, but if the originals are healthy, then I would venture a safe guess that they are too. We were talking about checking the double's health, but there is no need. I am sorry that I didn't come home sooner, and will try to remember not to make this mistake again." Jatan says hoping to appease his wife.
(Sonak)
"Well here you are." Caldwell says coming into the room with a hypospray. "Am I interrupting something important?" He says feeling very awkward.

Sonak was too tired to even argue with her bondmate, and merely nodded that she had heard and would accept his apollogy. She kept close watch on her double, who was waiting a few paces away and couldn't help but wonder if her double too was tired. She was even too tired to give Caldwell a grateful smile as he produced a hypospray. The colour of the painkiller being a little off should've warned her something was wrong, but she didn't even notice.
"Thank you doctor," she said, as Caldwell pressed the hypospray against her throat. She felt the painkiller kick in almost instantly, but as it did, she also felt something was terribly wrong. Turning, she gazed at Jatan in disbelief. "What..." she started, as she pressed a hand against the side of her face. She took an unstable step forward towards the CMO (or was he?) "What have you done?" she asked, as she wrenched her eyes shut from growing dizzy at sickbay spinning before her.
Slowly she sank to her knees, and only held herself upright by sheer force of will. ~Nick!~ her mind cried out in panic, as she knew that she could no longer contact Jatan. It was the last thing she thought, before passing out.
<Nick Martens>
The double Jatan stood smiling. "Help me get her into a stasis tube," he told the double Sonak, "and then you must take her place. Be as much as her as possible, they must not suspect anything. If anyone asks, your neural pathways have been blocked because you were plagued by severe headaches. It will be a plausible explanation for lack of telepathic thought. I have no doubt though that if you must, a mind meld will work just fine. I do however, caution you, don't use that lightly."

Backposting somewhat here:
She walked into the nearest turbolift, waiting for Martens to enter also, when she received the thought coming from Kanz. Once the doors shut, she gave Martens a direct stare. 'L'Ola has found something,' she stated, 'before going to bed we should go see what she has found. Come with me Nick.'
Together, they walked towards the first officer's quarters. 'What have you found commander?'
'Lucy's found something that might help us. It looks like our clones are trying to take over. Look'
She handed the PADD that Lucy had given her to Sonak and Nick.
'Firstly, I was not aware Lucy was on board, secondly, she should not be hacking our computer, and thirdly, well done, Lucy' Sonak replied. She wasn't making too much sense in her exhaustion.
'I thought we should be more careful with our clones. I know Commander Jared didn't trust his before the clone died and I wasn't too sure about the others either' she explained
'I will bear this in mind' Sonak said, but L'Ola could see from the Vulcan's face that she was far too tired to be able to keep up a proper vigil against the clones.
'Maybe you should go and see Jatan' L'Ola smiled. She knew that Sonak probably missed her bondmate, she had felt the feeling of being lonely in danger herself for some time now.
Sonak excused herself and left. 'Nick, have a look through the data please and see what you two can come up with' she said before she left.
However, L'Ola wasn't totally focussed on finding out exactly what the clones were up to. Despite the shoreleave, her and Nick hadn't totally worked out their situation.
'You look terrible' she said to him
'I feel terrible' he replied
'Why are you doing this to yourself? It's not helping anyone?'
<Nick>
Lucy had been sitting quietly at the back of the room, reading a random PADD she had picked up and L'Ola was unaware Lucy had. She took the opportunity to leave her sort-of mother and Nick alone and went back to check on any progress the programme she had left running in her room had made.
