"Bridge to engineering, what is your status?" Sonak2 called through the comm. Nephi2 hit his commbadge. "Just about got everything up to peak performance. Starfleet Engineers allow too large a tolerance window. Took me hours to get their warp cores to stop drifting in variance as much as 0.001. I've increased the power to the Tactical systems, and I'm currently working on the shields." "Okay keep me updated," she said, and closed the channel. -----------------------------Security Office------------------------ "Bridge to Brothis, do we have all the original crew locked away and accounted for?" came Sonak2's voice. "Affirmative," he said, but scolded himself afterwards. All these Starfleet procedures and protocol were stuck in his head. "All original crew are secure." A few minutes later, another order came in. "Security, we have a threat in sickbay." She announced to Brothis and his crew only. "Acknowledged," he said, and gathered his security team. He went over to the replicator, and ran his small device across it as well. After tapping in a few commands, a series of large black disruptor rifles appeared, and he passed them to his team as they appeared. He also tucked a few other small items into his uniform. He hefted his rifle, holding against his shoulder, as he checked the sensors. Scans showed a previously undetected humanoid, wearing some kind of protective suit that the ship's computer didn't recognize. "Alright," he said, turning to his team. "Let's move," and they headed toward Deck 3. They stopped outside of Sickbay. Brothis reached into the pockets of his uniform, and pulled out a small sphere. He pressed a few keys on it, set on the ground. It beamed itself into Sickbay, and began releasing a cloud of smoke. Brothis and his team waited a few momentd, then opened the doors to Sickbay. Stepping in, they used the infrared range of their modified eyes to see the Intruder's body heat through the forming smoke. They then opened fire. (OOC: Welcome back, Meylor! Like your welcome? )

The security team hustled into the main ward, guns blazing. Their shots merely passed right through the target, however. They very quickly realized that return phaser fire was coming at them from this mysterious suited figure, and each immediately took cover behind biobeds and instrument carts. It wasn't long before Brothis realized that their opponent was nothing but a hologram, albeit one armed with a very real hand phaser. "Aim for the holo-projector nodes in the ceiling!" he shouted to his team, but the expected response of fire was not forthcoming. Glancing behind him in frustration, he saw only the sprawled forms of his team members. Instantly he realized what was happening, that another intruder had struck, and rolled like a shot through the nearby office doorway, taking shelter behind the desk inside. He aimed at the nodes, and fired a few rapid bursts, causing the holo-projectors to spark with burn-out and the hologram to fizzle into nothingness, dropping the hand phaser it had held. Suddenly, another phaser bolt from somewhere close grazed his shoulder, but did no damage. Scanning the dooorway to the medical lab at the other end of the office, Brothis found his assailant: another suited figure, identical to the hologram! This one had to be real; the holographic systems were definitely out. This one was hardly a threat, though. He took precise aim and fired, blasting the phaser rifle out of the figure's hands. Despite this setback, however, the figure was undeterred, and actually rushed at Brothis with something small in his hand. Brothis fired but the weapon was soon wrenched from his grasp with a force that he never would have imagined. At last, a worthy opponent, he thought with growing intrigue. In a flash, the two were locked in hand-to-hand combat. After numerous jabs and dodges, the figure had Brothis in a wristlock and struggled to reach with the small device for a spot of bare skin on his forearm. Just then Brothis managed to extend a viscious kick into his attacker's foot, causing the figure to loose balance, but also to force the hand holding the device finish its plunge into Brothis' arm. Brothis stumbled about in a rapidly growing stupor, and was soon sprawled on the floor, out cold. The figure tore of his helmet, revealing a face grimacing in barely tolerated pain. There was little doubt that the kick had broken his foot. Apparently, these aliens were a match for his El-Aurian strength, and he counted his blessings that the sedative had actually worked on all of them. There was little time for such idle thought, though, and he struggled up to the chair nearby and brought up the command screen on the desk terminal. Entering the codes via the isolinear chip provided him by Starfleet Security, the computer soon responded to his orders. Quickly he sealed off Sickbay from all outside physical penetration using a medical quarrantine force-field. Since that particular field was on an independent emergency circuit, it would be that much harder to defeat. The next order of business would be to revive the officers in stasis, who were going to be fellow defenders of the new stronghold he had just secured. It was time to start fighting back... (OOC: Thanks, Neph! And it's a rush, lemme tell ya... )

ooc: posted as Jatan2, the real one is in stasis;)
Jatan felt dizzy when he opened his eyes again. Sickbay was filled with smoke, and his eyes started to water as he strained to see what was going on. He groaned as he tried to get back to his feet, a move that shot jolts of pain through his body. Slowly, the fog lifted and he started to think clearly again, remembering what had happened.
He remembered having called engineering to see to the repairation of one of the self-sustaining power supplies, an aggregate, of the stasis chambers. It had been acting up and Jatan feared it would fail. He knew that if it did, he was powerless to save the life of the person inside that chamber, for he didn't know the override-sequence that would set the revival of the occupant in motion. If it failed, the occupant would meet certain death.
Jatan also remembered Section Admiral Hepta offering assistance, but then a second Hepta showed up, and Jatan hadn't been able to tell which one was real. One of them had shot the other one, and then had shot him too. Now that he thought about it, he felt a searing pain in his chest, and looking down he blinked a couple of times before he saw the scorch mark on the front of his uniform. He was still too dazed to be able to determine how severe the injury was.
~the admiral!~ he then thought. Regardless of which admiral was shot, he was a doctor and he would treat any patient, friend or foe. Wiping his eyes, he gazed around, and then noticed that he himself was lying under one of the biobeds, while there was no sign of the admiral. He ducked involuntarily when he saw red beams shoot though sickbay, and he remained motionless.
Then someone in a black uniform came darting by. "Black?" he murmured, "who on this ship would wear black?" The figure briefly stopped at a biobed, and Jatan could now identify the prone figure lying on that biobed, it was the old admiral. "Admiral!" he called, though his voice sounded extremely odd to him. "Help me," he croaked, as he crawled from under the biobed, pressing a hand to his chest as he did so. When he looked at it, he felt as though the bloodied hand didn't belong to him, but rather to someone else. He crawled a few more paces and then collapsed, from pain and exhaustion.
"Computer," he whispered, "activate E-" He fell silent, knowing that no EMH would appear now that suddenly this black figure at the admiral's bed also had vanished into thin air. "Someone, help me!" he whispered, stretching out his free hand, while with the other he still covered the shot-wound.

Hedin's progress in securing the Sickbay had gone smoothly so far, with the unconscius aliens now all behind the force-field which seperated the surgical suite from the rest of the ward; he wanted to take no chances on their suddenly waking and causing more trouble. Thankfully, most systems such as the force-fields were functional, though the still-fried holographic projectors were going to require significant attention to repair, attention he didn't exaclty have to to give at the moment. Chancing to look out at the main ward through the office window, a slight movement from the dark corner where the admiral's bed stood quickly had all of his attention. He shouldn't be stirring; after I gave him that cardiac stabilizer, he should've gone into a deep sleep, Hedin thought with alarm. He immediately reached for his phaser rifle, then threw it away as he realized the damage it had received from the alien's shot rendered it useless. Grabbing the hand phaser that the alien had been using, he stealthily approached the biobed, aiming carefully.
"Show yourself! I can take you out in an instant!"
He was standing stock still, and nothing else within the room moved, either. Of course, it was a bit hard to see; stray fire from the earlier battle had knocked out most of the lighting. He called for emergency lights, and the computer obliged, revealing the peacefully sleeping form of the admiral on the bed, and on the floor beside, one slightly twitching man in a medical uniform with blood smeared over it and over one hand. The twitching told Hedin that struggling life still remained in the man, and the blood indicated that he was a genuine human being, genuinely in distress.
Hedin set aside his weapon with enormous relief, and gingerly lifted the man onto the biobed adjacent to the admiral's. A few quick ministrations with a hypospray and a thrombic modulator brought the patient's condition under relative control. As he worked, Hedin wondered whether the other officers in stasis were similarly injured. Looks like my litle army is going to need some TLC before they can get back to the front lines, he thought with growing concern.

Lucy's heart was racing as they crawled through the jeffries tubes and headed for their destination. She'd only felt that way a few times before, each time had been better than the one before.
They knew exactly where all the doubles were. Even if the information had been coded they would have found it.
But that still didn't stop the 17 year old being nervous. She knew that her time remaining on the ship would be limited and that whatever she decided to do next would require a good reference. And if anyone got wind of the sorts of things she'd done...
The pair stopped just next to a ventilation panel.
"Remember" Jared said "It's just like we discussed. Smash and grab, nothing more. At this stage we don't want more people getting hurt than have to be."
Nodding in reply, Lucy reached into her pockets to pick up her tools. This was it.

~bridge~ Mark Harper swiveled around his seat to face the woman who was serving as the original commanding officer's double. He quietly noted that being unemotional wasn't really her strong suit, but from his own original he had learned that the real one seemed to have a problem controlling hers most of the time as well. While he regarded her, he remembered she'd never told them why exactly they were headed for Romata six. "Ma'am?" he then spoke up, pointing at his console, "we're now entering Romata system, we'll enter orbit around the sixth planet in about fifteen minutes." <Sonak2> "Yes ma'am, preparing for low orbit. Ma'am, you never told us why we were going here, do we have any special business being here at all? I'm detecting Federation vessels on long range sensors, if this ship isn't supposed to be here, they'll be onto us in no-time." <Sonak2> <Brandy this is your cue to get the marines in> ~sickbay~ Jatan reached for the unknown person that was seeing to his recovery. He breathed more easily now that an oxygen mask was placed over his face, yet his chest was still burning and he couldn't take too deep breaths. He reached out to the darkly-clad person, and grabbed him by the front of his tunic with all the strength that was left in him. "Save them," he rasped, pointing towards the stasis chambers, "one of them is about to fail. They're unharmed, but if one fails they'll die." Just as Jatan fell back, chest heaving from the strain of trying to talk and keep breathing, one of the autonomous power supplies sparked. "You must act quickly now," Jatan urged, making Hedin strain to hear his voice, "get it fixed, reroute power, or enter the override code. Quickly, or they'll die. I'm a doctor, I can't let anyone die, even if it's the enemy." He closed his eyes and his hed fell sideways. The monitor at his feet showed an irregular heartbeat, but steady if not shallow breathing. ~inside one of the stasis tubes~ Jatan found himself slowly drifting towards consciousness as the stasisfield started to collapse. However none of his muscles were working, and he couldn't expand his lungs to breathe. There was no air in the chamber and if no-one would enter the override code, he would suffocate. The CMO fought to regain consciousness, but his brain wouldn't accept the fact that he wanted to breathe and get his circulation going again. Panic struck him as he somehow realized that he would die, stuck in a stasis chamber. He had no idea how long he had been in there, nor had he any idea how to get out. He couldn't speak and it was quite impossible to open the chamber from the inside. He tried to scream, but his voice wouldn't work, and with no air, there would also be no sound. His mind fogged over again as he started to suffocate. <ooc: don't kill jatan.....>

Jared and Lucy Kanz had reached their destination, the armoury. It was so far from their original position it had taken them a long time to reach it. But Jared couldn't keep using his gun on everyone they met. Although it was silenced, it didn't have a stun so it limited options somewhat. The upside was that sensors couldn't pick up its usage but still, ammunition was limited. Also, so far they had been lucky enough not to have injured any real Starfleet, but it wasn't efficient to always have to work out who was who before shooting them.
They pushed a tube covering open near the armoury. There were two people guarding it. 'Are they copies?' Jared asked Lucy closed her eyes and concentrated. 'No' she replied Jared pointed his weapon at the first one, a little hiss anounced the first copy's demise, then the next. The second one hadn't moved because he hadn't seen a phaser beam. Cutting into the armoury with a heavy duty cutter from an engineer they had found near engineering on the way down wasn't difficult. The only problem had been that Jared had to show Lucy how to use it so he could keep watch whilst she cut through the doors. He didn't know if she had the ability to shoot someone to kill them. It was something even a lot of Starfleet security would hesitate before doing and he didn't want to ask her to do it.
Inside the room, they packed a bag with as many phasers as possible. They even took a couple of type ones for the surprise factor they could carry even if their reduced power made them less valuable in a firefight. Jared handed a phaser to Lucy. 'It's on stun' he reassured her as he pocketed his gun and hefted the bag over one shoulder and a type 3 in the other hand.
'Shall we adjourn to sickbay?' Jared asked Lucy 'For the copy of Jatan?' 'Yes, he might be useful if we are to manage to open cargobay 4'
The two dragged the dead copies into the armoury and left via the way they had come, closing the tube cover after them.

"Good, low orbit around the planet, and let me know if any Star Fleet ships are nearby." She said hoping to get the original crew down there instead of keeping them on the ship. She didn't want any threats aboard, and if they were still here then they could try to take over the ship, something she didn't want to happen.
"Yes, we are here on special business. Transporter Room, start to transport all the locked up crew to the surface, and make sure they don't have their commbadges, Sonak out." She said first to Harper, then into her commbadge.
She had a bad feeling about this though, and she couldn't put her finger on what it was that was causing this feeling. She shook it off, and sat down in her chair hoping that things would continue to run smoothly.

The water sloshed over Nicks face and down his tunic. Justu repeated himself.
"You must trust her," he blew softly at Nick and suddenly the world began to spin and fade out. He hit the floor.
"Nick wake up! Come on Nick, wake up!" came the soft voice.
He lolled his head around slightly, it hurt like crazy. His scalp burned, his lips felt swollen and the taste of blood was in his mouth.
"Hey wake up!!" The soft voice suddenly yelled in his ear. His eyes shot open and he jolted back. Kate sat next to him holding a vase. A small puddle of blood and water was pooled under where his head had been laying.
"Good you're awake now," she said standing up and holding out her hand. "I am so terribly sorry. I didn't realise what they were planning. I'm so so sorry."
He looked up at her and raised an eye brow. He didn't quite know what to make of her. First she'd appeared in his quarters, knocked him out and now is apologising. Odd considering her past.
"I need your help," she said still holding out her hand. He slowly took her hand and she pulled him to his feet. Quickly she grabbed his commbadge and threw it to the ground, seconds later it disapeared. His eyes flew between Kate and the spot where his badge once was.
"Ok...So where do we start?" he asked.
"Sickbay. It's where the Commodore and Jatan are being held."
~~~some time later~~~
Hedin stood at the security console trying to override the security protocols. The encription algorithms kept changing so he had to be fast. His attention was alerted suddenly to someone crawling through the air ducts. He pulled out his phaser and stepped back. Out of the duct dropped a woman dressed in black ~another operative~ he thought, only she wasn't wearing any sort of Starfleet standard. He leveled the phaser at her and she stopped and raised her hands.
"I'm here to help," she said.
"Right," Hedin replied still wary of the new addition. Without any warning a pair of hands gripped him from behind, one grabbing his throat, the other his wrist. He struggled but the assailant was obviously much stronger.
"Shadow Ops eh. You a Double or single," came a harsh whisper.
"Single. I'm here to stop the doubles."
The hands let go and the person stepped around.
"Nick Martens, Cheif of Navigations. I'm an original. This is Kate." Kate smiled and waved. The consol Hedin had been working on started beeping wildly. It showed the life signs of the three cryo occupents beginning to fluctuate. He ran back and began punching in a series of commands. Nothing was working. Nick stepped over and punched in three simple commands and suddenly everything Hedin had done started working and the chambers opened. He smiled at Hedin.
"I encrypted them," he said bluntly and walked over to Jatans chamber.
"Morning sunshine," he said to Jatan.
Jatan had been sure he was going to die when he fought to breathe in a chamber where there was no air. He felt his lungs burning when suddenly there was a rush of air, and slowly he felt his heartbeat pick up pace, and he heard blood rush through his veins past his ears.
He felt strong arms pull him from the chamber and support him as his legs wouldn't carry his weight yet. Squinting against the bright light of the emergency ilumination in sickbay, compared to complete darkness in the chamber, he peered around. Jatan coughed a few times and shivered violently. The chief medical officer was clad only in his shorts and he was standing barefeet on the cold plating of the deck.
A scratching sound and a muffled scream diverted his attention from his own discomfort, and with unknown strength he tore the door away from the chamber beside his. A barely clad Vulcan tumbled out, and he saw the black-clad figure reach out just in time to prevent the Vulcan from hitting her head. Fog lifted from his mind as suddenly fear rushed into his unshielded mind. Fear and love.
He reached out, almost tearing the woman from the black-clad figure's strong arms. "She's mine," he rasped, taking the woman into embrace by sheer force of will as he was still weakened. "Sonak," he whispered, holding on tightly to her.
Sonak opened her eyes again and took a few deep breaths. Now that she was out of the confined space, her sudden attack of fear started to subside. Someone draped a blanket over her shoulders, which Jatan pulled around her tightly. As memories flooded back, she recovered more quickly than Jatan. "Report," she stated, though her voice too was barely a whisper.
Both doctors turned, when a gasping John Caldwell emerged from a third chamber, supported by Kate Martens. "That was something else," Caldwell rasped, blushing a deep crimson as he noticed their scant atire. He averted his eyes from the still hugging couple and gazed at Hedin. "You're somewhat familiar," he murmured, "have I seen you around before?"
Sonak however had only eye for Kate and stared at the woman with eyes that were blazing with hatred like an inferno. "What is she doing here," she demanded from Nick, shaking Hedin off. "Not now," she snapped, then realized this was someone new. "Who are you?"
Not wanting to hear excuses, she glared very unVulcan like at the El-Aurian. "Do you have anything to do with these doubles?"
A moan from the opposite side of sickbay drew their attention. Sonak's eyes widened in surprise. "Admiral Hepta?" she enquired, "The real one or the double?" She turned when someone tapped her on the arm and shoved a small bundle in her arms; looking down she saw that it was a clean uniform. Yet somehow she had the feeling this uncanny new figure was more than he led on, as he was in sickbay, wielding medical equipment, and certainly not Nick or Kate could have released them. Their release meant that this person had the authority of a chief medical officer.
Now that she had determined that, she also knew that the three doctors wouldn't be going anywhere without a medical check-up first. Sonak stood waiting, Jatan still supporting her and holding the blanket wrapped around her while he too was now holding a small bundle of clothes. "Well?" she asked, rather impatiently, "get a move on, we have a ship to retake!"
"You're somewhat familiar," he murmured, "have I seen you around before?"
Hedin, who was trying to hold the Vulcan officer still in order to run a quick scan with his tricorder, looked up momentarily. "It's possible; perhaps in another lifetime, you think?" Then he flashed a cheery grin, which somehow made Caldwell feel both bewildered and yet strangely comforted at the same time.
Sonak however had only eye for Kate and stared at the woman with eyes that were blazing with hatred like an inferno. "What is she doing here," she demanded from Nick, shaking Hedin off. "Not now," she snapped, then realized this was someone new. "Who are you?"
"Dr. Phloyd Hedin, special agent for Starfleet Security. Not to be rude, ma'am, but if you'll just bear with me, I'll complete my diagnosis more quickly. Being in stasis as long as you have, with the chamber in that condition, could have unpredictable effects on your system", Hedin answered in a calm, measured voice, all the while taking his readings.
Not wanting to hear excuses, she glared very unVulcan like at the El-Aurian. "Do you have anything to do with these doubles?"
"Certainly not; I was sent here by Security in the event something like this happened. Though I have no way of independently confirming my identity at the moment, I do have the codes given me by Security which should have allowed me to access the stasis chambers, but which didn't account for certain encryption protocols..." He made a saluting motion to Martens. "I also have certain orders you should know..."
A moan from the opposite side of sickbay drew their attention. Sonak's eyes widened in surprise. "Admiral Hepta?" she enquired, "The real one or the double?" Hedin replied, "Oh, he's real alright, as in a real human. And he should be well on the way to recovery, though I wouldn't recommend any strenuous activity. And before you engage in any, you may want to get dressed." He turned and started to rummage through a nearby equipment bin for suitable clothing for his patients. Soon enough, Hedin tapped Sonak on the arm and shoved a small bundle in her arms; looking down she saw that it was a clean uniform. Yet somehow she had the feeling this uncanny new figure was more than he led on, as he was in sickbay, wielding medical equipment, and certainly not Nick or Kate could have released them. "Well?" she asked, rather impatiently, "get a move on, we have a ship to retake!"
Hedin, unflappable as he had remained throughout, responded in that damnably calm voice of his. "Patience, ma'am. Besides, if all is going according to plan, we should be receiving...I believe humans call it `the cavalry` within the hour. I took the liberty of sending my last covert report to Security before leaving my hiding place on Deck 15 for Sickbay. The report was a Code Green signal, indicating that the sender is under captivity, along with all of you. Which we are, though hopefully not for much longer. We now have a base of operations, and the Marines, if all goes well, are underway as we speak."
OOC: As Fox's double, real one is still locked in the cargo bay
On the bridge Fox stood behind his console monitoring internal sensors, when suddenly a light began to blink on it, meaning the stasis fields had gone down. Tabbing a button on his console he got sensor readings from sickbay showing a lot of activity there.
He called for Sonak's double, she looked at him. "Yes? Go ahead." she said.
"I'm picking up too many bio-signs in sickbay."
Sonak's double nodded "Probably Brothis and his team."
But Fox shook his head. "No, it isn't Brothis, the stasis fields are down." Looking at Sonak2 "One of the bio-signs reads vulcan." After pressing a few more buttons on his console, a camera activated in sickbay and the image appeared on the main screen so they could see what happened down there.
"So they have escaped." Sonak2 said. "Lockdown that area, if necessary the whole deck."
Fox2 nodded, a few seconds later the lockdown initiated.
The lights darkened once more in sickbay, and this time they did not come back up. "It is fortunate that you released us when you did," Sonak quipped, when she moved towards one of the beds and pulled a curtain closed around it, so that she could get dressed while having a little privacy. It didn't really disturb her much that the little group had seen her with barely anything on, it still beat being dead.
She felt the warmth of Jatan's body beside her as he had joined her and actually assisted her. She smiled gratefully, even though she felt stronger now than when she was just released. Jatan looked much worse for wear, as he'd nearly suffocated. A minute later, both of them emerged, now fully dressed and Sonak tugged down the hem of her tunic, in a vain attempt to smoothen the fabric.
"Now, I believe we should do the following," she started, and started explaining what she had in mind. Since sickbay was nearly covered in complete darkness, they had to use palmlights to see, something Sonak wasn't too pleased with. The palmlights didn't emit enough light to see properly, and even the semidarkness had left her virtually blind. "Doctor Hedin, you will come with me to Mercury's bridge, while Commander Martens and Doctor Reckus attempt to find and liberate Lieutenant Commander Jacobson, our chief engineer. While they are on their way, we need to signal Commander Jared and Miss Kanz. From what I understood they are still able to move freely through the ship. They need to get to the control room and manually eject Mercury."
She paused briefly to take a few deep breaths. "Doctor Hedin, you and I are going to try and keep Mercury in our hands, while Martens, Reckus and Jacobson attempt to liberate the other members of our crew that are detained aboard Mercury. Doctor Caldwell, you will hold down the ford here and protect Admiral Hepta until he is well enough to travel. You will obey any order he gives you, understood?"
"Yes ma'am," Caldwell nodded, and moved away to the biobed that held the old admiral's body strapped down. Gently, he released the restraints and continued to check up on the admiral's injuries. "Admiral, are you well enough to travel?" he querried softly, "we will soon need to move, you must take a moment to assess your strength."
<Hepta>
Sonak beckoned Hedin to follow her as they manually forced open sickbay's doors. "Life-support is offline," Sonak knew, "we must hurry. From the bridge we can override the lock-down of this deck." She noticed that Kate followed the two of them. She shot the woman a look filled with hatred, but didn't stop her from following. Right now, the woman's knowledge might become useful, as she seemed genuinely interested in helping them. ~and if she double-crosses her I will personally kill her, again~ she thought grimly.
<hedin/kate>
Jatan sped out of sickbay ahead of his closest friend. "Come on!" he urged, "we don't have much time!"
<Martens>
ooc: the retake of mercury is going to happen...nothing will stop it. Mr Brandy, perhaps you can assist Mercury <secondary module> in disabling Minerva <primary> and Discordia <tertiary> with your ah...cavalery?
Sonak beckoned Hedin to follow her as they manually forced open sickbay's doors. "Life-support is offline," Sonak knew, "we must hurry. From the bridge we can override the lock-down of this deck."
The doctor nodded, and together they brought their combined strength, which was considerable, to bear on the doors. Hedin lead the way out into the corridor first, his phaser aiming in quick succession at each direction from which a threat might appear. Motioning to the commodore that their path was clear, he followed Sonak down to the nearest Jeffries tube access.
The commdore noticed that Kate followed the two of them. She shot the woman a look filled with hatred, but didn't stop her from following. Right now, the woman's knowledge might become useful, as she seemed genuinely interested in helping them. ~and if she double-crosses her I will personally kill her, again~ she thought grimly. Having reached the tube access, Hedin set down his backpack and took from it two respirator masks with their own oxygen supply, and handed one to Sonak; they were the only ones with him. Kate, without anything else to do, kept watch for any unwelcome visitors. The commodore began trying to override the lock on the access hatch.
"These respirators only have the standard emergency oxygen supply, good for one hour. The remaining air in here should be enough for the next several minutes, so we can rely on that as well. I'm more concerned with the loss of temperature and pressure that we're quickly going to feel." Hedin made his way towards a supply bin built into the corridor wall opposite the hatch. Pressing the touchplate on the bin, it slid open obligingly, and Hedin soon located the object of his search.
"Just as I hoped. Emergency pressure suits, for just such a contingency. My information on the ship's schematics was certainly accurate, thank Zarquon." He took out three suits, as well as an additional respirator for Kate, and passed them out. Sonak took the suit offered her, quickly had it on, and was back to the lock, which was soon defeated. Few things motivated her quite so thoroughly as the protection of her ship, and current events were certainly stretching her protection instinct to new lengths. However, things were taking a turn for the better, and Sonak was quite familiar with how to take advantage of an opportunity, however small or brief.
Sonak motioned Hedin and Kate into the tube, and as they made their way through the cramped tunnel, Hedin spoke up. "Commodore, I've discovered a way to disable the intruders, if only temporarily. Each of them so far has responded to the injection of a merfadon derivative, a type of sedative which results in a degree of vasoconstriction in certain humanoids, causing them to be deprived of enough blood oxygen to function normally."
"It's effective enough against Cardassians to keep them out from long periods, but in our case, these aliens seem to be able to store significantly more oxygen on a cellular level than the average humanoid. They will eventually be able to use that stored energy to revive themselves, but that process should take no less than fifteen minutes according to my observations, during which time they'll be incapacitated. I've filled several hyposprays with the sedative, and prepared two canisters of it which can be hooked up to the air handling system for aerosol delivery."
"The problem is that the sedative will affect any other humanoid onboard, knocking them cold for at least thirty minutes without treatment, though certain people such as Vulcans and Bolians will be unaffected. It's all we've got until I have the equipment to synthesize more, but it's a start."
Nephi sat cross-legged on the floor, contemplating various escape attempt ideas. Each was even less likely to succeed than the one before, with a higher risk of death. One escape attempt involved the improbable coinciding with a Borg attack, which wasn't good anyway.
He pulled himself out of the swirling thoughts of his mind, and looked around the room. Ensign Beckwith was still lying unconscious from when she had fainted from her claustrophobia. Schneider was passing around his little space, which wasn't doing any good to his mental health.
Nephi looked up when the cargo bay door opened, out of curiousity rather any hope of help. But oddly enough, there was no one coming through. Security turned to look, but surprisingly, got shot with a phaser set on wide-beam.
Every one of the prisoners in the cargo bay looked up in hope as the beam took out the entire security detail, and only fluctuating the forcefield at the front row. Nephi's heart leapt as Nick and Doctor Reckus stepped through the doorway.
"Nick!" Nephi yelled. "Boy am I glad to see you."
Nephi went over to the console, and released all the force fields in the room. Some hugged their neighbors, whom they had spent the past few hours being substitute Counselors for. Nephi stepped forward.
"Thank you," he said out of both relief and gratitude. "What's the plan? You've got 100 people to help you carry it out, though some are a little too shaken at present."
"Let us deal with the bridge crew," Nick said to Nephi. "Get to engineering and get power back up. We've got some marines inbound as well."
Nephi looked surprised at the development. Sounded to him like this was a bit of a conspiracy. He nodded and took the weapons from the security team and took a team with him down to engineering.
Nick and Kate stepped out into the corridor.
"Wanna have some fun?" she asked him. He looked at her as if to say 'fun?'
"Check this out," she held up a tricorder and it had a map setup on it. It showed a blip moving through one of the corridors on the next deck. "It's your double," she informed him.
"You planted a tracker?" he asked amused, her idea of fun was now starting to sink in. She smiled and nodded in acknowledgment.
~~~
Nick2 patrolled the darkness with his security detail. The doubles of Dak2 and Jazz2 flanked him. They both carried a rifle and were scanning ahead with their wrist lights. So far all they'd seen was walls and doors.
"These originals are becoming meddlesome," Dak2 commented, the large Klingon grunted.
"Yeah. I hate to say it but my double is annoying. She has so little taste and that hair, ugh," Jazz2 lamented. The Orion duplicate shook her head.
Dak2 stopped and sniffed the air. He held up his hand in warning. Nick2 and Jazz22 pressed themselves against the walls and Dak2 stepped into an alcove. A shadow rushed past in a junction just down in front of them. Another rushed across the same part then back again. Jazz2 stepped forward to survey the area. She shone her light around both corners and saw nothing.
"I don't like this," the Klingon said. A noise came from behind them. Nick2 and Dak2 whirled around to see nothing. They turned around and Jazz2 wasn't there any longer. Nick 2 rushed to the junction with Dak. All they found was a faint trail of green blood droplets leading down the next hall. They cautiously followed the trail to a doorway.
Nick2 punched the command pad and the door opened. No one was in the room. The body of their Orion counterpart lay in the middle of the room dead. Her head was skewed to the side and blood pooled from a wound in her chest. Dak2 sniffed the air.
"It's a trap," he said backing out into the hallway.
A noise alerted him and he bolted down the hallway and around the corner to take on the honor-less p'tak. Nick2 looked at Jazz then back to the area where Dak2 had just gone. Flashes of light filled the room followed by a mighty roar, then silence.
Nick2 slowly inched his way down the side of the hall, his phaser set to kill. A form came crawling around the corner in front of him, it was Dak2. Nick2 shone his light to see the Klingon covered in phaser burns. Dak2 let out a grunt and fell to the deck dead. Nick2 stood over his friend, swore, then turned to run the other way. Only an old friend stood in his way.
"Hello," Nick said to his double. The now rested original smiled as he had observed the behavior of the copy. Not quite what he expected, rather irrational actually.
"You are so gonna die little man!" The double yelled, pointing the phaser at Nick. "You and every one of your freaking friends!"
"Not if I can help it," Nick said calmly. He watched as Kate snook up behind N2. She grabbed the copy Tandaran by the head and twisted. After hearing a satisfying crunch she let the body fall to the floor.
Nick hit the comm panel.
"How's it coming Nephi?"

OOC: Rewriting..... Nick posted while i was writing, posts didn't match.
Together with Nephi and the rest of the crew that was locked up in the cargo bay Fox was released. He had been sitting in the same position, with his back against the wall, for some time as was a bit stiff when he tried to get up after the force field went down.
From the back of the cargo bay Fox walked to Nephi, Nick and Jatan who were discussing what to do next.
"Am i glad to see you two." he said to Nick and Jatan, hearing the last words of their plan. "I'll get to Mercury's bridge with a few people." He offered. "There i can monitor everthing and possibly try to override things that our doubles come up with."
After Nephi and Nick had left Fox also left with a few officers following him. "If our doubles our like us, they'll know we're free." he thought "and will do anything to prevent us from taking back the ship."
As he walked there throught the corridors on his way to mercury's bridge he suddenly bumped into a force field. "I was right." he thought, quickly he walked to one of the doors and to the back of the room he entered. "If i'm right there's an entrance to the jeffries tubes here." removing a panel there an entrance was reveiled. Quickly everyone entered the tube and worked their way throught the tube system to mercury's bridge.

Jared and Lucy were about two decks away from sickbay when an odd message appeared on the PADD she had been using to plug into the ship's communications. It was coded differently, not like the encryption the copies had been using. Lucy opened the message and tapped Jared on the shoulder. 'Look' she said and pointed to the message 'someone's come up with a plan' 'Are they ours?' 'I think so. It was encoded differently' 'I'll take your word on it. Do they say what's going on?' Lucy turned the PADD more towards Jared and he read it.
'I want you to take these phasers to Mercury's bridge. It's down a deck and keep going that way' Jared pointed towards the aft of the ship. 'I'll go and see to the docking clamps' 'Shouldn't we go together?' Lucy asked, quite sensibly so. Despite her fear, she was thinking calmly 'If you were anyone else I would say yes. But there will likely be patrols around there and I don't want you anywhere more dangerous than you have to be. Besides, it's a long way from the bridge to the main armoury and they could probably use those phasers' Lucy nodded and went off the way Jared had said. Jared himself went with her some of the way, then departed downwards.
Soon enough, he was at the tube which led to the clamp room. One of the good things about the Somma class was that it had a more concise tube plan than most ships. Martens had obviously thought more about the inner workings than Starfleet design engineers often did. Jared could see two men in the room. He could also hear a few more moving outside. He silently opened the hatch and pointed the phaser into the room. Two flashes marked the dowfall of the two engineers who had been present. Stunned, but heavily so. The door opened at that moment. Clearly someone had heard the phasers or the men hitting the deck. Bloody phasers, Jared thought from his shadowy spot. There were five of them outside the now open door. One phaser shot would tell them all where he was. Back to plan B then. He drew his gun and five shots later they were all down. He went to check who they were and to drag the bodies into the room. One was Mira2, or so Jared hoped. If it was Mira2 then apparently she and the people she was with were either on patrol or had just changed shifts. But if it wasn't... Bugger, I hope I haven't killed the counsellor, he thought.
Still, not much he could do now, so he moved to the access panels, entered the needed codes and pulled them off. Behind were several large levers marked 'one', 'two' and 'three'. He pulled them in order. One closed the large doors between sections, two closed the smaller access panels and after a minute he pulled three, the largest and stiffest of them all. With a grinding noise, a lurch and a clunk, Mercury floated free of the rest of the ship.
Jared disappeared quickly back into the tubes before someone came to find out what had happened. It wouldn't do them much good to try to put the levers back; only the bridge could move the ship back into position.

The comotion was load and the feelings intense, the bay where Brandy prepared his assault squad was quit. The only noise was the sound of weapons inspections, sharp rings as knives entered their sheeths. Brandy, dressed in a black battle dress uniform, stood as he clipted a power unit into his battle rifle. He then put his hands behind his back and pulled from a special holster two knicle plated Desert Eagle hand guns and put his final inspection on them before he returned them to their home.
"I didn't know we are going to fight Arilian Tazor Beasts." One marine blurted out.
Brandy turned to face him, a small smile streaked accross his face. "Oh these, I keep those for my subtle negotiations."
Brandy's attention was then directed toward the door as it opened to a crewmen who entered at a quick pace. "The captain wants you on the bridge, the Vesuvious's secondary module has detached....Something is happening." The crewman said with a sense of urgancie in his voice.
"Understood." Brandy replied and then turned to his squad. "Allen," Brandy said to his second in command," asseble the men in the marine transporter room and await my signal, I'll be on the bridge." Brandy got a quick "Yes sir!." and his crew was off.
Moments later the doors to the bridge opened, Brandy moved over to the captain and stood at parade rest. "Brandy reporting as ordered sir." The captain turned in his seet and called to the tactical officer to put the Vesuvious on screen. "Brandy, is your teem ready." The captain asked as he paid attention to the viewer.
"Yes sir on your order I have 6 men armed and ready with another 6 in reserve sir." The captain took a quick glampse over to Brandy, "Good, we are going to assume that the original crew has some how managed to recapture Mercury do to the condition it is in." came the repliy and then he turned back to the screen.
A few beeps came from the panel at the security station, "Sir, the secondary mudule mercury does not appear to have engine power yet, the other two mudules have begun their separation procedures." The captain moved to the edge of his seet with concern. "If those ships are able to separate and go into attack patterns on Mercury without their shields, their dead." Helmsman plot in attack pattern omega, as soon as we drop out of warp initiate the attack pattern." The captain shift to the Conn officer. "Conn, open a hailing frequency to Mercury........." He turned back to the viewer. "I hope we guessed the right one."

L'Ola had stayed pretty quiet throughout the breakout and subsequent takeover bid. It didn't help that the cells in the area she was in hadn't been disabled with the others, and they'd had to wait while a few system fixes were done.
But mostly she just didn't want anyone to find out that she wasn't feeling well. In fact she felt terrible. When she'd become unconcious she had fallen and hit her head on a very vulnerable spot. It had taken a few too many blows, and was responsible for the frequency that she was knocked out.
Normally it didn't matter though. She always went straight to sickbay and the doctors knew exactly what to do. But L'Ola had been locked up in the cargo bay and not taken care off.
Using several years of Vulcan experience, she managed to mask the feelings of dizziness and nausea, as well as the dull yet strong headache. And as long as she kept a brave face long enough to make sure they'd retaken the ship she didn't care how long her next sickbay trip would be.

Lucy could feel the adrenaline rushing through her as she carried the weapons to their destination. She tried to check herself, it was no time for nerves. Nerves could lead to a wrong decision or a misplaced thought. And if she ended up shooting genuine crewmembers it wouldn't exactly help take the ship back.
With as much of a calm head as she could manage, the Betarite made her way to the entrance of the Bridge. Once she was sure her senses were straight she stepped forward and opened the door...

Let us deal with the bridge crew," Nick said to Nephi. "Get to engineering and get power back up. We've got some marines inbound as well."
Nephi nodded. He took a phaser from a Security officer, then turned to the freed crewmembers. Surveying them, he found his people. "Sarah, Carl, Alma, Patterson and Vallard, let's go." He went over to the weapons locker at the side of the room, and handed them all weapons, replacing his phaser with a phaser rifle. They headed out of the cargo bay.
"My duplicate's slick," Sarah warned. "She's got my cunning and drive, and then some."
"Any ideas, Commander?" Carl asked.
"We've gotta split up. We have to take them by surprise, and all of us walking through the door won't work very well. Sarah and I will head for the main entrance. Carl and Alma, go for the tube hatch on the port side lower level. Patterson and Vallard, starboard side. Set your phasers to wide beam, so we take out the whole room at once. Wait for my signal before charging in," he said, having stopped at an intersection.
Everyone nodded, and the other 4 headed for the tube hatches. Nephi and Sarah proceeded down the corridor.
"So, do you think the place will be guarded?" Sarah asked as they proceeded to Engineering.
"Most likely. If I were my duplicate, there would be a forcefield at the door. Let's hope there isn't," he said.
They reached the door a few minutes later. Sarah checked a nearby wall console for a forcefield, but found that there was none. "Their mistake," Nephi said. He tapped his commbadge, as they stepped next to the door. "Jacobson to teams, now!"
They charged in the door, and started firing. Nephi saw the hatches blow off as the other teams entered. They easily overtook the room, as most of the duplicates were unarmed. Unfortunately, Nephi's duplicate was a bit more prepared, and had a phaser on him. He ducked behind a console, and fired back. He struck Nephi in the shoulder, but Sarah managed to take him out a moment later.
They surveyed the room. All the duplicates were down. "Start hiding them in my office," Nephi said to his engineers. He himself went to the Chief Engineer's station. He found that the Main Computer was still encrypted. It was a complex encryption matrix.
A few minutes later, the duplicates were stashed. Sarah came over. "What's it look like?"
"Like the way is barred by an iron gate," Nephi responded.
"Iron melts when you apply enough heat," Sarah said winking, and stepped up to the console and went at the encryption.
"How's it coming Nephi?" Nick asked through the comm.
"We've secured Engineering. The Main Computer's encrypted though, Sarah's working on it. The rest of us are working on getting power back online."

"Report, and I want some good news this time." She said still saddened that they were losing this battle. If we lose here, then how are we going to take over in the major areas of the fleet? How are we suppose to win our war? She thought as she sat down in the command chair.
"Transporter Room, how are things going with the beam down?" She said wondering why they hadn't reported in to her yet.
"We are having some problems, ma'am. There's something wrong with the phase transition coils, and we didn't want to risk any lives, ours or our doubles. We are working on fixing it, and have tried to contact Engineering on the problem. We will continue in our efforts, but without a more skilled officer, it will take several hours to fix this." Was the report she had heard, and she tried not to show it on her face.
"Very well, keep trying to fix it. Sonak to Engineering, respond now." She said not happy.
"Ops, continue to try and raise engineering..." She said as she started to give an order, and she found there were several people storming the bridge. She ducked down behind her chair hoping not to be in the line of fire.

There was no question about it, their leader was definitely losing it. The Starfleet aliens were regaining control of the ship. And yet they were doing nothing about it. As second in command her role was clear.
"Ops, continue to try and raise engineering..."
At that moment L'Ola appeared on the bridge with two security duplicates in tow. "Get her somewhere she can't mess anything up. We need control of this ship and she won't get it for us."
The balance of power had shifted The new leader headed for the command chair, then changed her mind. Once she was sure that Sonak was out of the way, L'Ola headed over to the science and engineering consoles. "We need to release the gas again. Once they are all knocked out we can work out how to deal with this situation. We cannot fail."
She had always commanded respect from the workers by working herself, and now was the opportunity to cash in on that respect. People scurried everywhere to bring the new plans into action. Within a few minutes a large crash could be heard, as originals everywhere keeled over.
"Round them up, and make sure the forcefields are secure this time." That was when she decided to sit in the command chair. That was when she made a mistake by turning around.
A phaser fired repeatedly across the bridge, and all but one of the doubles there was knocked down. "You have betrayed our real leader, and for that you will pay."
"Who are you to say this to me? You wouldn't even be on this mission if it hadn't been for the replication accident."
Lucy grinned momentarily, "Must have been my lucky day. Now if you don't mind I'm going to look something up on the computer to report back to our superiors back home. I'm sure they'll be interested to hear about this."
Making sure she kept looking at her target, Lucy typed a few instructions into the computer. More than a few actually. But patience turned out to be a virtue in this case, and she found what she was looking for.
L'Ola looked around helpless as a forcefield appeared around her. "You will regret this. You should have shot me while you had the chance. Once I get out of here I will make sure you are taken off this project for good.
Lucy shook her head, "I could never shoot you. You might be fake but I can never have my real mother." She looked away and tapped her commbadge. "Kanz to Jared. This bridge is secure and I managed to decode and recode the computer."
=/\= Glad to hear it. Anything else I should know, like why everyone's lying down =/\=
"Oh yeah, I was a little late. On the bright side I stopped the orders getting out to round everyone up. Where do you need me to go now? Can't we meet up again?"

Post by SA. Tettares Hepta [Ret] on Dec 17, 2005 23:05:01 GMT
-¦- Scene: USS Vesuvius-A, Sickbay -¦-
<snip from Sonak> "Yes ma'am," Caldwell nodded, and moved away to the biobed that held the old admiral's body strapped down. Gently, he released the restraints and continued to check up on the admiral's injuries. "Admiral, are you well enough to travel?" he querried softly, "we will soon need to move, you must take a moment to assess your strength." </snip>
"My strength is fine, doctor," Hepta assured him, despite every bone and every fibre in his body telling him otherwise. He didn't remember feeling this bad ever before, at least not physically. He was pretty broken mentally the day his wife died, what with-- No, he didn't want to think about that now. No point in dwelling in the past, if there was still so much to do in the present, let alone the future. "Where are we going?"
"Nowhere yet, Admiral," Caldwell countered. He showed the tricorder he held in one hand. "Every reading here says you should stay in bed for another six hours, if not more."
Someone opened sickbay's doors, allowing Sonak and the rest of her group to leave. Hepta had noticed a couple of unfamiliar faces amongst them, but if Sonak accepted them, so would he. Sickbay was empty now except for him and Caldwell, and some dead or unconscious people. Doubles, hopefully.
"If you already know how I feel, then don't ask." No doubt about those tricorder readings being right, if by far underestimating the time he needed to recover. It didn't matter, though. He swung his legs out and moved to a sitting position. So far, so good. A short journey probably wouldn't kill him.
"Please lie down, Admiral. You are in no condition to sit." Hepta moved off the bed, landing more or less steadily on his feet. "Or stand," Caldwell added.
Hepta snorted. "Doctor, why don't you help me instead of saying what I cannot do? The Commodore did say you were to obey my orders." He tried a few steps towards the still-open door. The hurting definitely got worse, but he didn't fall. Just another thousand steps or so to go until he got to Mercury's bridge.
"I didn't think she quite meant this, Admiral."
"We can ask her when we get to Mercury." Another couple of steps, and still he hadn't fallen. He wasn't going to let some tricorder readings stop him, or a bit of pain. "Unless you'd rather stay here?" Or a lot of it.
Caldwell sighed. "Very well." He gave Hepta an arm for support and the two of them got underway.
-¦- Time: Much later, but not too much -¦-
Hepta and Caldwell entered Mercury's bridge and were noticed almost immediately by Sonak.
"Good to see you, Admiral. To be honest, I wasn't sure you could make it here in time."
"Dr. Caldwell was very helpful." If it hadn't been for Caldwell's assistance--and some pain killers--he definitely wouldn't have made it. "Now, is there anything I can do?" He grimaced as a jolt of pain shot through his right leg and his knees almost buckled. "Preferably something that I can do sitting?"
OOC: Sorry Sonak, I didn't keep my word... see the time above my post.
