Sonak, however did not watch the transmission, despite being permitted to do so. She thought it a little hypocritical as she was supposed to remain incommunicado. While she knew others aboard her ship might enjoy it, she herself felt it was wrong to watch it. Jatan, who was not confined to quarters, had left her to be by herself after the ambassador had left, taking the children with him. He would watch the transmission with them from the mess hall.
Meanwhile, the Vulcan had sat down on the bed after enjoying a long real hydra shower. With the towel still wrapped around her long hair, her bathrobe pulled close, she now leaned back against a vast amount of pillows. Tiredly, she rolled her shoulders, then moved her head from side to side, the towel dropping from her head as she moved.
Sighing, she tossed the damp item aside and ran her hands through her hair, loosening it. As Jatan had suggested, she would use the compulsary time off to try and relax and rest. She needed sleep, badly, but she couldn't get herself to sleep. There was too much going on and she needed to clear her mind first. It had been weeks since she last had the chance to meditate. Briefly, she wondered how the rest of her crew was faring under the current situation. Especially Parsons, who was confined to the brig. She felt sorry for her first officer; she certainly hadn't wanted this to happen to him when she asked him to enquire after the real Elron's location.
Resolved at least on this, she knew she would talk to Lin in the morning, pleading for Parsons' release. She shook her head again, pushing a stray strand of hair out of her face, took a few deep breaths and crossed her legs. Taking another few controlled breaths, she placed her hands open on her thighs, straightened her back and closed her eyes. Slowly, she entered a meditative state, letting her mind wander and deal with what had happened so far.
After a while, her breathing eased out, her limbs relaxed and she sagged back on the bed. Jatan found her fast asleep when he came home. Smiling, the human doctor covered his wife with a few blankets then went to put the children to bed. After that, he took a quick sonic shower and joined his wife in bed, soon fast asleep himself. Neither would wake until Jatan's alarm would go off in the morning.

Tyr was stood on the upper gantry of the Vesuvius' primary engineering, looking down and around at the scurrying crew beneath him. He had been stood there for almost twenty minutes, having barely moved when a call came through from Zoilip.
=/\=Ensign, you're to report to the brig immediately. We need you to conduct a full debriefing of the XO, Commander Parsons=/\=
=/\=Please define a full debrief Commander=/\= Tyr responded, putting a great deal of emphasis on the word "full".
=/\=No funny stuff=/\= Zoilip sounded annoyed, having only recently been disclosed of his new Ensign's true identity, purely for the sake of this mission. =/\=You know the Admiral doesn't want you going overboard, but he does want answers=/\=
"Tie my hands why don't you" Tyr mumbled, then raising his voice back to an audible level. =/\=I'm on my way, and I've left the thumbscrews in my quarters=/\=
He closed the line, and then went back to looking out over the engineering staff below, all of whom were apparently oblivious to his presence. An attractive young engineering officer walked past behind him, and he wolf whistled. She stopped briefly, thinking that she heard something, but then carried on, shaking the notion out of her head. In the last twenty minutes, Tyr had been reaching out with his mind, slowly eroding the perception of all those around him until they no longer registered his existence. It was a point of pride that he could do soemthing like this, there were only a dozen or so telepaths in SI with this level of skill. Now confident that he was not being observed, he moved over to a control panel and inserted an isolinear chip, opening a communications link with Assailant.
"Warning, communications have been locked down by order of Admiral Magellan Lin. This attempted access has been logged"
"Computer overrid lockout and delete log entry, priority Intelligence code Saviour 869 Rota Pi Omicron"
"Authorisation confirmed. Initiating subspace channel"
The channel went up, and Tyr saw himself facing the holorepresentation of Lily.
"Lily this is Lok aboard Vesuvius, have you prepared the monitoring algorithm"
"Confirmed Ensign, I'm also preparing to duplicate and download the entire Vesuvius record and data bank into my systems, for level one analysis of any discrepancies"
"Proceed with both endeavours now please. Forward all results directly to Admiral Lin, and only on a secure line. I don't want the Vesuvius finding out that I'm probing their entire internal and external sensors"
"Do not worry ensign, this algorithm was created by my AI programming, it is unique, and will not be found"
"I wish I had your faith Lily. Commense programming trade"
"Initiated. This procedure will take 6.73 minutes"
"Acknowledged. Terminate the link when you're done, and wipe your own records of this transmission. It is not strictly above board"
He cut the visual and audio link, and then deactivated the panel. Leaving no noticeable evidence of what was transpiring. He also withdrew his mind from all those around him, which, following a brief moment of confusion allowed them to carry on as normal. He departed engineering, headed for the brig, but after a few moments of walking, he felt a sneaking suspicion that he was being followed. He caught a glimpse of the same gold uniformed man following him twice in reflected surfaces, and once again when he put his foot up on a wall to straighten his boot. By this point he had been in random circles across three decks, and knew that there was no way this man was going about his everyday business. He diverted to the mess hall, and ordering a bowl of Idanian spice pudding, settled down to eat at a table facing the door. Sure enough, his erstwhile shadow entered and ordered a cup of coffee, moving to sit at a table with a good view of him. Tyr smiled. Not overly bad for what was probably a first go, but not good enough. Feigning a cough, he rapidly abandoned his meal and jogged for the door, moving out into the abandoned corridor. He loosened a maintenance panel and swung it open at knee height, standing back as his pursuer went tumbling over it as he chased after Tyr. A quick nerve pinch and he was out for the count. Smiling at the crew's failure to try and appear less guilty, he made his way to the brig.
He entered to the sight of two Commander's both of whose profiles he had perused at great length. He nodded curtly to them both, and then took a seat opposite Parsons, across an empty metal table. The fake Bajoran smiled welcomingly at them, trying to put them at a deliberate unease.
"Ensign Lok" he introduced himself "A pleasure I'm certain"
"Thank you Commander Apirana, that will be all" Tyr said smoothly, under no illusions how much annoyance it would cause that an Ensign could dismiss a Commander. "But if you would be so good as to pass a message back to Admiral Lin for me" He beckoned him close. "Please have him ask Commodore Reckus to please not send any more tails after me. Because it's a big ship, and accidents, far worse than the one that has befallen a security officer outside sickbay, can and will happen. Thank you" A dismissive gesture of his hand ended the conversation.
<TAG Commander Apirana>
He stood up and walked around to where Parsons was sitting, trailing his fingers along the table. He began in his well rehearsed role as an interrogator, one he fitted well, and one he took a small guilty amount of pleasure from.
"So Commander First Class Adam Parsons, what shall we talk about today, hm? How about yur family? That's always something we could start on. Good old family stories. Something from Iowa maybe? Or something about Utopia Planitia, something that your mother, or father or sister brought home from work?"
He could see the visible unease at the amount of personal detail that was being used. He pressed on.
"How about your time at the School of Interstellar Law? I'm certain that you got up to a lot of fun as a student. Well, didn't we all. Personally though, I never had as much fun as when I was in the service. Vulcan for me. But not you...No it was the El Salvador and Scavenger before here wasn't it? So then, we're not going to talk about old school and service memories? What else is there? The way I see it, you can either tell me the thread to the needle of how you broke that..." He pointed at his left arm. "...Aged 13, or you can tell me everything that has occured on this ship since the Vesuvius arrived back from it's previous mission. Ommitting nothing! And believe me Commander, I will know when you ommit something, and I will be...less than suitably impressed"

Parsons sat in the brig, hoping more of the command staff had not been compromised when Pai walked in. "Pai, good to see you. Any news?"
<TAG Pai>
Commander Apirana then directed Parsons to a nearby table. Adam had just sat down when a Bajoran Ensign came into view.
"Ensign Lok" he introduced himself "A pleasure I'm certain." Lok then turned to Acting Captain, "Thank you Commander Apirana, that will be all. But if you would be so good as to pass a message back to Admiral Lin for me" He beckoned him close. "Please have him ask Commodore Reckus to please not send any more tails after me. Because it's a big ship, and accidents, far worse than the one that has befallen a security officer outside sickbay, can and will happen. Thank you" A dismissive gesture of his hand ended the conversation.
Parsons knew this was no ordinary Ensign by the way to talked to Commander Apirana, and Adam figured Pai probably wanted to snap the little weasel's neck as much as he did right then.
The Ensign then stood up and walked around to where Parsons was sitting, trailing his fingers along the table. Adam could tell the Bajoran was enjoying this. This was not Parsons first rodeo. He had conducted numerous interrogations as a Starfleet Security Officer and JAG Attorney.
Adam was uncomfortable that this arrogant ensign had him at a disadvantage, but he knew the game.
Adam smiled for a moment, "Well, Ensign, I doubt anything in my personnel file is of much interest, but the events on the Vesuvius and Starbase 47 since we returned from our last mission...have been the some of the most interesting and disturbing of my life."
Parsons continued to narrate the story of the assassination of Admiral Elron and the ensuing investigation, knocking out the guards Nova had trailing him and Wolf and Kirk, the attempt to access the station's security logs, and the detonation of the explosive devices by Nova's men to sabotage the station's records and computer core access terminals. When Adam was finished, he looked up at the Bajoran wondering how he had served in the Vulcan service and knowing that all was not as it seemed. "And now, Ensign, you may begin your interrogation," Commander Parsons concluded coldly.

Magellan reviewed the latest reports from Assailant. As de facto C in C of both SB47 and SBA the paperwork had leaped four fold. He would be glad when Admiral McCormick returned from leave and he could hand over day to day operations to her. Duke Nova whilst removed from the brig and Commodore Sonaks ill judged arrest was still being closely watched. Magellan hoped Parks returned soon with the DNA sample he was convinced it would show that the man was indeed a clone.
Some might question why he would release Nova knowing he was a clone. With the clone of Elron dead the trail was cold and it was possible the clone had a dead mans switch if in trouble, leaving the cloned Nova dead and with no clues as to where Elron or the real Nova were. Better let him think he was free to go about his business and be watched. Imprisoning Sonak and coming down hard on the Vesuvius crew was all part of this plan, if the enemy believed that his investigation was focused on the Vesuvius then they might relax a little and make a mistake.
After checking in briefly with F'Rass on Assailant he went down to see the Commodore in her quarters. The guard let her in and he found Sonak with her family.
"Excuse me" he said politely "I need to speak with Sonak alone."
Sonak looked at Magellan a moment before nodding to Jatan. He scooped up the children and ushered them from the room.
"What can I do for you Admiral?"
"Its more what I can do for you" he said dryly taking a seat
"I see. For all I know your a clone too."
Magellan shrugged, "I could be that is true. But as the transporter logs will verify I am very much who I say I am. Cloning a humanoid is one thing, as is cloning a symbiont, joining two such clones together is impossible."
Sonak considered that a moment, she had a medical background although not specifially in trill medicine. They still liked to keep very much to themselves but she knew Magellan was right.
"In that case it is logical for me to assume you believe me to be a clone."
Magellan laughed, "Not at all. I lifted some cells from the PaDD you gave me and had them tested you came out negative for trace bio-mimetic influences in the DNA strands."
Sonak raised an eye-brow, "So why imprison me"
"Its all about appearances. At the moment there are only a handful of people I know to be true. Myself and my team, you, Admiral Drew and Kirk. His borg implants and residual nanoprobes would prohibit cloning."
"That is true" Sonak agreed, "WHat of Section Admiral Nova."
"I am convinced he is a clone. And we need to use him to find the real Nova. We also have to find our friend."
"Our friend?" Sonak asked,
"Clone Elron was assasinated obviously not by those planning to use them but by a third party someone who knows about the plot. I have my tame reporter on Sb47 checking into any underground criminal gangs that may offer up a clue but personally I think the Assassin was Elron himself."
"Elron?"
"Why not?"
"Why hasnt he come forward?"
Magellan shrugged again, "Who would he go to, when hes not sure who to trust. Far better to try and eliminate his alter ego and try and find out who is behind it."
Sonak nodded, "But you already know don't you. You knew before you came aboard."
"I suspect nothing more. I have Tedak as my bloodhound to confirm my suspcisions. As of now you I can trust but you remain relived of command. I m going to order the Vesuvius to leave SB47 then you will resume command. I m going to leave Parks, Drolar and Zoilip to keep an eye on Nova whilst we make it look like we have got a different lead."

"I am not happy with the way you are conducting this investigation," she then spoke up. She certainly wasn't happy with being woken from her much needed sleep, but she wasn't going to tell that to the admiral. She was already treading a thing line as it was, and she knew it. "You could have told me the truth from the start. You have arrested my first officer, when you know he is not guilty."
She rose to her feet, gazing pointedly at the Trill opposite of her. "I want to talk to him as soon as possible, and I want him to know exactly what is going on. If we are leaving with Apirana in command, I want to know exactly where we are going. If this all is a farçe, I am still in command."
No, she wasn't happy at all, and it was showing, along with her fatigue and irritation. "Your ambassador visited me earlier, telling me something about Romulans. I do not find him altogether trustworthy, but at present he has given me far more information than you have so far. So I am inclined to believe him. My brother is a diplomat in the Empire, he has ties. Ambassador Tedak should contact him for more information, perhaps he can help."
She paused, pacing restlessly, before abruptly turning to face Lin again. "Clone or no, who knows how long ago he was replaced, Elron is my friend. I do not know which I spent most time with in the past months, but I trust Elron, completely. If he has motive for killing his clone, then I believe he had a very good reason for doing so."
She paused again, before a slight smile started to play around her lips. "I have an idea admiral...and you might or might not agree with it, but it may explain a few things to external factors." Her smile widened. "You are going to make my CTSO believe that I am a clone and therefor relieved. In addition, you will make Parsons believe it as well, though I want to talk to him regardless. It may even play to our benefit. Nova will think I am compromised, and he might act foolishly as a result."
Sonak raised her hand to silence him, a bold move on it's own as no-one simply silenced an admiral. "As you said, cloning a joined Trill is impossible, but I am certain that cloning a Vulcan is not. And our recent disappearance may perfectly play into it as well, even though my crew knows the truth of the event, no-one else does, yet. None but Elron, who was killed."
Her eyes sparkled brightly as she explained her train of thoughts. "It might lead us to the brain behind the operation. Nova plays a big part, I am certain of that." Now, concern creased her brow. "I am, however, worried for the real Nova. I do hope he is not hurt."
Again, the Vulcan paused. "I have an additional request. A new navigator was due to arrive. Would you direct him to Commander Apirana for instructions? And I believe a new CMO might be due soon as well. With Illito's departure, I do need a CMO. Since I am relieved of duty, I cannot function as doctor at present, and the EMH is still offline."

Tom sat in one of the numerous observation lounges overlooking the ships in space dock. He had tried to board the Vesuvius at Oh Eight Hundred, to check in with the Captain as was the protocol when first taking a new posting. He sat at a bar (The reason he had chosen this particular lounge) downing his seventh Yeager Bomb, thinking to himself as he stared at the Somma class ship ahead. 'Must be Tagert luck. I get posted to a new ship and as soon as I show up, I'm a pilot with nowhere to go.'
Tom thought about his first few weeks on the Jefferson. He showed up in the middle of a trial about some top secret program that had went terribly wrong. The Jefferson had been on lock down, but he knew some of the Cargo crew on Assailant and had been able to sneak on board the ship by transporting cargo on a worker bee. Not so this time. He had no contacts on Starbase 47, and was stuck looking at where he was supposed to be.
Tagert wondered if it would be any better on board, he remembered running simulations on the holodeck till he could guess what types and how many enemy ships the computer would throw at him on the random setting. His mind wondered back to a Holodeck program his friend J'Varr Had made, it was a constellation class ship that worked much like the flight simulations but was set in the late 2200s. During his first time, meeting J'Varr, and trying out the Rising Sun program, they had been locked in the holodeck wile a Rouge A.I. Program had tried to kill them in the form of Klingon birds of prey.
His eyes focused back to the present as the bartender nudged him on the arm. "Hey!...Commander... Are you going to answer that?...Are you ok?" The bartender said. "What?" Tom fired back in a fog, he was starting to feel the alcohol. "Admiral Lin To Lieutenant commander Tagert." It took Tom a second to register what was happening. "Uhh, this is Tagert."

Magellan shook his head, "You presume too much. Your plan is far too risky." "Risk is a Starfleet Officers job" Sonak rejoined "Not personal risk. Risk that the culprits get away. No we follow my leads and my procedures. That is an order Commodore *. I wil see to your crew and once we have left Starbase 47 you will be released from confinement." Magellan looked as if he were about to say more but his badge chirped. "Yes?" he demanded "A call for you" "I ll take it in my quarters." Magellan gave Sonak a curt nod and left. *** He returned quickly to his assigned quarters and opened up the link. "Go ahead." "Its a match" Frass said over the commlink. "Thankyou Commander. Keep Assailant safe till I return. Magellan out" He sat a moment putting the pieces of the puzzle together. He then tapped his commbadge himself. "Ensign Demeter release Commander Parsons. Join up with Commander Apriana I have an assignment for the three of you. Meet me in the conference room in 20 minutes." Satisfied that all was going as expected he realsied he ought to sort out the Vesuvius' crew problems. He contacted the new helmsman personally when he saw the officer was already on SB47. "Commander Tagert, This is Admrial Magellan Lin." he pasued for the Commander to respond, "You are to join the Vesuvius right away I have need of a pilot. Report directly to the bridge and prepare for us to get underway." TAG ALL *I'm pretty sure you meant commodore instead of commander

What exactly was he doing here? That was the question that Aiken couldn’t quite work out. He didn’t work for the Federation, hell, he barely liked the Federation, and yet here he was basically being their odd-job research man. Of course, the fact that he was an independent, unbiased individual was apparently the point of him being there, but did anyone truly believe that he would be viewed as such? He sighed, and turned his attention to the Ambassador.
"Mr Drolar, what can you tell me on the uses of bio mimetic gel, cloning practices within the Federation and outside of it, and Elron's enemies? Additionally, I need to know the main enemies of the Vesuvius senior staff. Who would gain by their detention or their death, and who might we turn to for assistance. In short: who are their main allies?"
He raised his eyebrows in thought as he pondered the question. In truth it was something he knew very little about. His journalism had never really moved that far into the science aspect of things and it was a section he had never really strayed into when reading through publications; even those he edited on.
"Bio-mimetic gel? Without research, not much more than any other lay person. It’s a pretty nasty bit of chemistry. Can be used in the creation of biogenic weapons and organic explosives as well as its primary function in cloning. It is a very very grave offense to even try and acquire it, and those without guard it well. Including the federation, it might be noted." He paused to think. "As for cloning; outside of the dominion, its usage is limited, the obvious examples of it being the Shinzon/Picard incident and another on Deep Space Nine, I don’t remember the details, it was a bit before my time." He offered an apologetic smile. "Enemies and allies. That’s another question altogether, and not one I could answer stood right here, right now. Give me a few hours on it, and I’ll report back to you this evening?"
"I have a meeting with the commodore this evening. Truth to be told, I do not understand why Magellan told you to stay here. I believe your presence at my dinner engagement would in fact be beneficial. Both for your story, once this situation has been solved, as well as public relations for the Federation."
"Possibly, but I’m not exactly everyone’s favourite dinner guest. Especially when they are someone for whom controversy follows around."

After his dinner with the Vulcan commodore, Tedak had returned to the starbase to seek out the reporter with his news. "I have some leads for you to follow," he informed the reporter, while they were stood in a slightly remote corridor, covered by the shadows the low ilumination threw across them. The Romulan handed the other man a PADD. "Use it covertly and quietly," he warned, "but I think this may be of use to you."
He looked around, his face obscured by the hood of his long black robe. "I have to return to the Vesuvius," he added, then walked away, constantly watching whether he was followed. Fortunately, his shadows from the Vesuvius had remained behind since the commodore had been confined and relieved from command.
Once he approached the bay where the Somma class vessel was docked, Tedak lowered the hood of his robe so the guards could identify him. They let him aboard without much trouble, after which the Romulan diplomat returned to his assigned quarters. On the ship, it was fairly late in the evening, of not very early into the night.
Truth to be told, Tedak didn't feel as exhausted as he thought he'd be. He didn't have much of an eventful day and so far, Lin hadn't really required his skills for anything. Looking around the spacious quarters he'd been assigned to, he moved to inspect them, nodding in appreciation. For a man alone, even a diplomat, Tedak did believe there was far too much space. Even though his own personal quarters aboard Assailant had more room than this. Despite that, he appreciated it, but if he'd been assigned crew quarters he'd been equally happy.
After dawdling in his quarters for a fair while, Tedak thought it best to just go for a walk around the ship. He knew which systems would be out of bounds for him, so he already promised himself to steer clear of them. He nodded politely to crewmembers who passed him, surprised that they nodded back in response or even verbally said good evening.
Rounding a corner, he nearly walked into someone. "I do apologise," he murmured, straightening his robe around his wiry frame. "Are you all right..." he asked, looking up to see whom he'd run into.

Kerry-Anne had only arrived on Starbase 47 and was itching to get to her new assignment, the USS Vesuvius a Somma class ship she had taken the chance to read up on during her shuttle trip to the starbase. It was an impressive ship and Kerry-Anne could not have asked for a better assignment.
The ship had three sickbays and Kerry-Anne knew it wasn’t going to be a bludge assignment but she was ready it was what she had trained for.
She walked toward the docking ring that the Vesuvius was connected to and was stopped by two security personelle.
“I am Doctor Kerry-Anne Kennedy newly assigned Chief Medical Officer, Please stand aside.”
The two security officers stood out of the way as they mumbled something to each other but Kerry-Anne ignored it and stepped for the first time onto the Vesuvius.
Her hands were filled with PADDs containing information on the crew and specifications of the ship, stuff she had mostly studied but none of them explained what she really wanted to know, why the ship was under a communications blackout while docked at a starbase.
As she turned the corner she collided with someone fairly hard causing her to drop all of her PADDs onto the floor.
"I do apologise," he murmured, straightening his robe around his wiry frame. "Are you all right..." he asked, looking up to see whom he'd run into.
The man said as Kerry-Anne looked up to see whom it was she collided with.
“I am fine thank you, I am Dr. Kennedy the new CMO but I don’t remember you from the crew medical files…”

The Romulan smiled pleasantly as he steadied her, before assisting her in picking up her PADDs. "Quite likely," he answered, "as I don't serve on this vessel. I am here as part of an investigation, led by Admiral Magellan Lin."
Tedak offered her a polite bow. "I am Ambassador Tedak, representative of the Romulan Empire. My general dealings are with the Debrune, however the admiral has asked for my assistance in this matter."
He studied her as she recomposed herself. She appeared fairly young to him, but then again, anything under the age of 40 was young to him - even if for his people, 40 was considered young. The slight wrinkles on her nose gave away that she was at least in part Bajoran, but he saw no signs of her being religious.
"May I escort you to main sickbay?" he asked of her, "I have no doubt it is safe to go alone, but with Admiral Elron assassinated, who knows what might happen. A young woman like yourself should not go un-escorted." He offered her his arm in a perfect gentlemanly way, keeping his other arm slightly behind his back as he had once seen British gentlemen do at a movie night he had visited on Assailant. It had been a different experience altogether, but one he had quite enjoyed. "Please?" he added, having no desire to make her feel uncomfortable.
"Once you have seen your workplace, I could escort you to see your commanding officer, even though she has been relieved of duty." He shrugged. "I do believe she could use someone to talk to, even if you are a physical doctor and not a psychological one."
The Romulan fell silent, realising that he was talking on end, not giving her a chance to respond at all. While he waited, he still studied her, learning as much as he could by observing bodylanguage.

"Yessir. I'll Be there di-rectly." Tom slured slightly, his Okie accent coming on a lot heavier than before he had entered the lounge. '[word deleted].' Tom thought to him self. 'What am I gonna do? Okay, calm down. Tom we've done this before.' Tom was trying to think of a way to cover the smell on his breath. As he boarded the ship he asked the computer where his quarters were. Tom then entered the turbo lift and made a bee line for his quarters. He brushed his teeth and changed his uniform, then made his way back into the hall and into the turbo lift.
When he arrived on the bridge he nodded to the man in the center chair and made his way to the helm, and to his knoladge no one noticed that he had been drinking.

A smile danced across Demeter's face as Adam waited for the real interrogation to begin, but before the Ensign could say another word, he was interupted by Admiral Lin over the comm, "Ensign Demeter release Commander Parsons. Join up with Commander Apriana I have an assignment for the three of you. Meet me in the conference room in 20 minutes."
Parsons looked surprised, but Demeter still had an arrogant smirk on his face, "After you Commander," the Ensign said motioning toward the door. Adam stood from the table and headed out the door with the Bajoran Ensign following close behind. The two officers headed for the bridge to meet up with Commander Apirana, before entering the conference room to see Magellan.
"Pai, this is Adam, I have been released by Admiral Lin. You are to meet me and Ensign Demeter on the bridge and then we are to meet the Admiral in the conference room," Parsons said feeling much better at having been released, but still appearantly relieved of his duties as Executive Officer of the Vesuvius. He wondered what the Commodore's status was.

"Commander," Parsons nodded to Pai as he entered the bridge with Demeter. "The Admiral has an assignment for the three of us," Adam said to Pai before the three officers entered the conference room.

Kerry-Anne smiled as she nodded her head in return to his bow.
“It is a pleasure to meet you Mr. Ambassador.” Kerry-Anne replied with a cheerful voice.
Kerry-Anne Smiled widely as she took his arm with hers. “I would enjoy the company thank you… you’re a real gentleman Mr. Ambassador…. Something you don’t see much of these days unfortunately.”
The pair headed off down the corridor. “I must admit I was nervouse about coming aboard it is not everyday you are assigned to a ship during a communications blackout.” Kerry-Anne found the Ambassodor to be rather nice, not at all what she had heard about Romulans back on Bajor.
The two made it to main sickbay and Kerry-Anne took her first step into what would soon become her domain, she turned and smiled at Ambassador Tedak.
“Between you and me… humans have such bad taste when decorating.”
Kerry-Anne found the doctors office and dropped all the PADDs on the desk before returning back to the main area and looking back to the Ambassador.
“I think it would be best I see the commanding officer now. Can you please take me to where she is?”

Magellan sat as patiently as he could whilst he waited for the officers to arrive, patience however was not his major issue, nerves were. He had gone over in his mind a thousand times how things could play out and yet it still made him uneasy, the main problem was having to rely on other people, people he didn't know, namely the Vesuvius crew.
He was fairly certain he had all the pieces with regards to what was happenning with the clones but he still had a significant problem, Where was the real Duke Nova? and what should be done about his clone? Both of these issues were what challenged him now.
Magellan looked up as they entered and then activated a privacy security measure to the room.
"Thank you for coming gentlemen. I have a delicate and difficult job for you. I need you to abduct Section Admiral Nova."
He paused as he registered the shock on their faces.

He held up an arm to quiet them, "I am certain the Section Admiral is an imposter, a clone. I am also certain that the Clone of Elron was assasinated by Elron himself. Elron obviuosly doesnt know who to trust and is eliminating the clones he knows of. If he knows Nova is a clone he will attempt to assassinate him."
"And thats a bad thing?"
"It is if we want to find the real Nova and who is behind it. My plan is for us to capture Nova and then leave the base with him. We will then show him his cover is blown and allow him to escape, hopefully he will will lead us directly to his base.
Thats the easy bit the second part is harder for that Commodore Sonak will command, but I wont mention that until I have spoken with her. For now I just need you to kidnap the Section Admiral without alerting Starbase 47 staff, do you understand what I am asking you three to do?"

"When you have got Nova secretly aboard Demeter, Paikea, Sonak and my agent on the Starbase -Aiken Drolar will enact the second part of my plan."

Patting her hand in an almost fatherly manner, even though she was just nearly a decade and a half younger than he, Tedak nodded. "Of course ma'am," he answered.
A little later, they stood before the commodore's quarters, where the Romulan pressed the chime. A young Vulcan male opened the door, blinking up against the bright light of the corridor. "Greetings, young Seliv," Tedak greeted, "is your mother still awake?"
A human male stepped up behind the boy, ushering the child back into the room. "She was just about to go back to bed ambassador, this had better be important. My wife desperately needs some rest."
Tedak bowed politely, offering an apology. "Doctor, this young lady here is Doctor Kerry-Anne Kennedy and she wishes to meet with your wife."
Eyes widening a little, Jatan stepped aside to allow both entrance. "Please remain here ambassador," he said, while beckoning Kennedy. "I doubt she's dressed," he warned, "she was already asleep when I came home and the admiral's earlier visit didn't help matters either. She's very tired and no doubt a little irritable. Please don't let that daunt you, as it's not directed at you." Briefly, he explained how she was removed of duty and confined to her quarters, and how she suffered under current circumstances around the clone Elron's death.
Tedak, meanwhile, found himself surrounded by two young Vulcans and a toddler who tried to crawl onto his lap. Smiling slightly, he picked up the half Human, half Vulcan girl and placed her securely in his arms, while the other two looked on. "And what's your name little one?" he said softly, peering into the small girl's eyes.
"Her name is Miriya," Seliv answered, "and she's two years old." His eyebrow rose up in surprise, though his expression remained otherwise unreadable. "Surely you remember mother introducing her?"
Again, Tedak smiled, feigning ignorance. "But of course, how silly of me. Isn't it a little late for you and your sister to be up?" The boy wisely didn't reply to that. "Why don't you tell me a little about yourself and your siblings," he suggested, "while your father talks to your mother and the new doctor.
In the bedroom, Jatan quietly shook his wife. "Sonak, there's a doctor here to see you. New chief medical officer?" He smiled apologetically. "She insisted on seeing you." When he saw her scowl, he added, "she could take care of Commander Kirk from here? I heard the EMH is still offline. I'll give Nick a nudge in the morning, I promise."
The Vulcan captain sat up, rubbing the sleep from her eyes with one hand while pulling her dark red hair from her face with the other. "A new doctor?" she asked, her words slurred just slightly because she wasn't entirely awake yet.
Jatan nodded. "Doctor Kerry-Anne Kennedy. Tedak just escorted her here." He gestured towards his wife. "Doctor, this is my wife, Commodore Sonak Reckus. She's been doubling as chief medical officer after Doctor Tintagel's sudden departure to Cardassia for a family emergency."
Sitting up a little straighter, Sonak looked towards the bedroom door, half expecting the Romulan to come in. When he didn't, she relaxed. "He is a good man, but I feel he has a double agenda," she said, fixing her gaze on the apparently Bajoran woman. "I would welcome you aboard, however I am relieved of duty. As such, you should report to Commander Apirana, who is presently in command. I believe you might find him on the bridge or in the holding cell area."

Tedak leaned back on the sofa, watching the two-year old in his arms peer up at him with dark eyes. On either side of him sat one of the five-year old twins, one slightly fair haired, the other very dark. He wondered where the older twins were, and was about to enquire when the two entered the quarters, seemingly arguing. Both stopped dead in their tracks when they spotted the Romulan on the couch, surrounded by their younger siblings.
The Romulan could see where the children got their looks; the girl was a spitting image of her mother, though the boy had the hint of red in his dark hair. His eyes is what caught his breath in his throat; they were dark and piercing, taking in everything.
"Good evening ambassador," the boy spoke politely, "are you waiting for my mother?"
"No child, I am waiting for the doctor. I brought her here to see your mother, as she is new to the ship. And since your mother is the captain, it was only right for me to introduce her. Except, your mother was asleep and your father asked me to wait here."
"Ah." The boy exchanged a curious glance with his twin and Tedak had the distinct impression that a silent conversation was going on between the two. "Please, can I take Miriya from you? I should put her to bed."
"Why don't you show me to her room and I'll carry her for you," Tedak offered.
Sodon looked thoughtful for a moment, sizing the Romulan up. He locked eyes with his younger brother, who nodded quietly. Nothing of this was lost on Tedak, who was fairly perceptive when it came to telepaths. "It is fairly rude to whisper in company," he said quietly, as he rose to his feet.
"I apologise," the older boy replied, seeming contrite, "my brother believes we can trust you."
Now, the Romulan laughed heartily. "Is that so, little one. And how did you come to that conclusion?"
Seliv smiled slightly, pointing at the diplomat's robe. "You are armed, like many Romulans," he informed him, "if you had bad intentions, you would have carried them out by now. But my mother seems to trust you, so it is logical for us to assume that you do not intend us any harm."
Tedak blinked in surprise; that were wise words, coming from someone so young. And very observant too. "Why, thank you...I think," he answered, "and yes I am armed but I do prefer not to fight. That's why I became a diplomat."
"Diplomats fight though," T'Kimi added quietly, while pulling off her shoes and putting them away beside the door.
"With words," the Romulan explained patiently, as the twins led him to the little girl's room. With great care, he put the toddler in her crib, then started to change her into her sleepwear. Surprisingly, the child never woke up. "Come now, let's let your little sister sleep. And shouldn't you be in bed too?"
Sodon nodded, barely stiffling a yawn. "I still need to speak to father about something," he countered defiantly.
"Ah." Now it was Tedak's turn to be observant. "I'm surprised you call him father."
"Well, he is," Shanna cut in, sharper than she intended. "But what do you know..."
"More than you think." The Romulan still smiled, though he realised he was treading on thin ice now. These were observant children, and despite them being barely half his height, if they decided to 'attack' him, he would have a hard time fending four of them off. He backed away slightly, back towards the couch.
"He adopted us after mother married him, after our father was killed," Sodon explained softly, looking away in a moment of sadness. "Shanna and Seliv do not remember our real father, but we do. However, we prefer not to think of it, so we would appreciate it if you did not bring it up again."
"My turn to apologise." Tedak sank down on the couch, the two younger twins instantly crowding him.
"Do you have children?" the young girl asked, her voice soft and close to his ear.
A painful expression crossed his face, one that wasn't lost on the observant children. "He was killed," he answered, his voice sounding choked, "I had a son, he was adopted but I loved him very much."
He felt a hand on his own and he looked up in the sorrowful eyes of the oldest girl. "I am sorry," she said, "we know about loss." He felt her fingers curl around his own, tightening their grip and he felt a spark of compassion coming from her. As if stung, he yanked his hand back.
"Why don't you go see if the doctor is finished with your mother yet? I should escort her to her quarters, as I promised her."
The child nodded and walked into the master bedroom. She quickly identified the new doctor, as it was the only unknown factor in the room. "Doctor, Ambassador Tedak wishes to know when you are finished with mother. He expressed his wish to leave and will not without you in attendance."

"I would welcome you aboard, however I am relieved of duty. As such, you should report to Commander Apirana, who is presently in command. I believe you might find him on the bridge or in the holding cell area."
Kerry-Anne nodded her head and said.
“Thank you Ma’am I will do that immediately.”
Kerry-Anne was about to turn and leave when another person entered the room and said very politely
"Doctor, Ambassador Tedak wishes to know when you are finished with mother. He expressed his wish to leave and will not without you in attendance."
Kerry-Anne smiled as she looked to the child.
“Thank you.” She turned back to Sonak and said. “thank you Commodore Goodnight.”
Kerry-Anne took her leave and walked back into the main living area she looked to ambassador Tedak and said.
“Thank you for waiting Mr. Ammbassador.. Apparently due to circumstances on the ship I am to report in to a Commander Apirana on the Bridge.”
They left the quarters of Commodore Sonak and her family and as they walked down the corridor to the turbo lift Kerry-Anne turned to Tedak and asked.
“How long have you been an Ambassador?”
<Tag Tedak>
“It must be interesting work… While on Bajor I considered running for a government post.. but my love of medicine won out.”
They entered the turbolift and Kerry-Anne leaned against the wall and let out a sigh as she rubbed her eyes. She was now feeling tired and still had very little idea of what was going on around the ship, or why the ships commanding officer was relieved of duty, she hoped that Commander Apirana would soon fill her in somewhat.

Magellan looked up as Parsons, Pai, and Demeter entered the conference room.
"Thank you for coming gentlemen. I have a delicate and difficult job for you. I need you to abduct Section Admiral Nova."
Parsons initial shock melted away quickly to reveal a smirk. In his mind, the actions of the Vesuvius crew up till now had been vindicated with that statement. Adam was relieved that Admiral Lin finally believed them, but leery of the challenges to come.
The three started asking questions of the Admiral and each other and he held up an arm to quiet them, "I am certain the Section Admiral is an impostor, a clone. I am also certain that the Clone of Elron was assassinated by Elron himself. Elron obviously doesn't know who to trust and is eliminating the clones he knows of. If he knows Nova is a clone he will attempt to assassinate him."
"And thats a bad thing?" Parsons muttered, not quite to himself.
"It is if we want to find the real Nova and who is behind it. My plan is for us to capture Nova and then leave the base with him. We will then show him his cover is blown and allow him to escape, hopefully he will will lead us directly to his base." The three officers pondered the plan.

"Aye, Sir, you can count on us," Parsons responded.
The other two officers responded in kind.
"Admiral...which one of us is to command the op?" the still relieved XO asked.

“Thank you for waiting Mr. Ammbassador.. Apparently due to circumstances on the ship I am to report in to a Commander Apirana on the Bridge.”
The Romulan's expression darkened a little as they exited the commodore's quarters, after he'd said goodbye to the inquisitive children, promising he'd come back another time. "That would be correct," he answered darkly, "I'll take you to the bridge, in the hope Commander Apiriana is actually present there. However, I wouldn't hope for it."
They walked in silence for a few minutes, until they reached the turbolift and entered a car.
“How long have you been an Ambassador?”
Tedak hadn't quite expected that question, not yet anyway. Turning to face her, his expression turned thoughtful and he closed his eyes for a few seconds, thinking. "A little over a decade," he then answered, "though I came to Assailant approximately seven years ago." He fell silent, seeing that she had more questions.
“It must be interesting work… While on Bajor I considered running for a government post.. but my love of medicine won out.”
"It is very interesting and often very satisfying," he answered honestly, "however my work also has it's downsides." Quietly, he told her of the incident with the El-Aurians, which happened only recently. "I did everything I could to keep the children with their parents, but Magellan worked out an arrangement with them. I am still quite angry at him for that, but so far it works." He smiled sadly. "I am taking care of a group of smaller children when I am off duty. I have taken it upon myself to be involved in their education, and I am presently content in doing so."
He paused. "Before I became an ambassador, I was a member of the Tal Shiar and commanded my own ship. Circumstances had me removed from that position and reassigned. It is not exile, living on a Federation starbase, but it could very well be that. I have little contact with my own people and that has led my own superior to believe that I am not to be trusted."
Tedak paused again, averting his gaze. "However, I am gratified that I still have my uses, to several parties. No doubt, when my usefulness ends, someone will end up trying to kill me. It has happened before, and I have no doubt it will again." He stood in close quarters to the doctor, closer than he'd normally have dared, but he was in a fairly daring mood. One that even surprised himself.
Quietly, he reached out and wiped a stray strand of hair out of her face, the back of his fingers lightly caressing her cheek. He gazed down at her the whole time, not once averting his gaze. He was gauging her response, even though he had no idea why he was doing it. Yes, she was beautiful, but that wasn't it. He knew that he was very lonely, especially after his last girlfriend had abandoned him for a position on earth. "I'm sorry," he murmured, turning away from her.

Paikea's breath quickened as Admiral Magellan Lin explained his plan to the three officers. If Lin was right about Nova being a clone, the Vulcan was right about the situation all along. Part of him hated the fact that she was right, but he understood the bigger picture. Duke Nova had a lot of pull throughout the quadrant and if the man aboard the station was not Nova, something needed to be done.
"Admiral...which one of us is to command the op?" the still relieved XO asked
"If it doesn't bother you Adam, I would like to command this operations," Paikea said finally speaking for the first time since hearing about the plan," the clone knows that I don't like Commodore Reckus. In fact, I made sure to let him know that I dispise her. He should have no reason not to trust me."
(Lin, Parsons, Demeter)
"We can easily devise a reason for moving Nova," Paikea said," a new threat could be forged which would require us to move him. It would be very hard for the clone to say no to something like that."
(Lin, Parsons, Demeter)
"Admiral, I think we are ready to start this operation. Are we cleared to move on the clone?" Paikea asked.

Kerry-Anne nodded as she listened to the Ambassodor, she felt a little sorry for him to be disconnected with your own people must be difficult for him.
Kerry-Anne at first didn’t notice how close the Ambassador had come to her and just as she noticed he had brought a hand up to her cheek and wiped some hair away, she blushed slightly before he apologised and turned away from her.
Kerry-Anne raised her hand and placed it softly on his arm. She found him to be a sweet man but she could see underneath a sort of danger to him that excited her in a way she had not felt before.
“Don’t apologise Tedak.. it was nice.”
She brought her hand down as the turbolift slowed and the door opened revealing the bridge.
She strode out of the turbolift confident and walked to the centre of the bridge.
“Commander Apirana.. Is he here?”
A lieutenant turned to her and shook his head and said.
“No he is in the briefing room.. You can’t go in Senior Staff only Ensign.”
Kerry-Anne smiled as she retorted.
“Lucky for me I am a senior officer then lueitenant.. Check your records.. I am Chief Medical Officer Kerry-Anne Kennedy… Excuse me I need to speak to Commander Apirana.”
She turned to Tedak and said.
“I shall only be a few moments if you wish to wait Mr Ambassador.”
Kerry-Anne walked into the briefing room and stood to attention as she saw and Admiral and two Commanders.
“Admiral, Commanders.. I am Doctor Kerry-Anne Kennedy newly assigned Chief Medical Officer.. I was advised by Commodore Reckus to report in to Commander Apirana.”
<Tag Apirana>
“I will be in sickbay should I be needed Sir I need to meet my staff.’ Kerry-Anne Kennedy left the tense briefing room and thanked her lucky stars she wasn’t a part of it all three of them in there looked rather stressed and tense.
She looked to Tedak and said.
“Back to Sickbay it would seem.”
They both entered the turbolift and Kerry-Anne felt very nervous for a reason she couldn’t explain to herself

While the doctor was in the briefingroom, Tedak took a stroll around the Vesuvius' magnificent bridge. It was quite unlike that of the Copenhagen, aboard which he'd been many times, yet he felt that he was more at home on the Copenhagen than on this vessel. It just felt...strange, to be here. He even would prefer the Jefferson over this one, quite simply because he had lived on that ship for several months.
Absentmindedly, he ran his hand over the nearest console, feeling the smooth and cool surface. Then his gaze fell on a young officer at the front of the bridge, one he hadn't seen on this ship so far, but who seemed fairly familiar.
Paining his memory for the officer's name, he strode forward. "Greetings," he called, not wanting to startle the officer. As the man looked up, the pieces fell into place. "You're Thomas Tagert, aren't you?" he asked, almost immediately upon remembering.
The Romulan smiled. "I think I saw you on Assailant once, or perhaps when I had a tour of duty aboard the Jefferson." He looked thoughtful for a moment. "Then again, perhaps you know my ex-wife, Doctor T'Val? She too has served on the Jefferson." His smile widened a little. "Liking your tour on this vessel so far commander?" he asked, purely out of interest as he watched Tagert work the console with expert ease. "So, we're heading out at last hm? About time..."
He turned as Kennedy re-emerged from the office. "Excuse me, it was good seeing you again commander. Do please keep this ship in one piece? Or eh...three at the max?" Offering a slight bow, Tedak walked away, back to Kennedy. "Sickbay it is ma'am," he replied politely as he called the turbolift car back.
As they stepped in, he took great care to keep some distance between them. Though she was attractive, he didn't want to appear to be coming on to her. In the same thought, he realised he didn't regret his previous action, at all. "Sickbay," he told the car, then felt it's consequent movement. "I heard you have a patient waiting for you already?" he asked, trying to be conversational. "He was caught in an explosion, I believe...back on the starbase."
He leaned against the wall of the car, crossing his arms before him, casting her a small smile and a curious look. "How long have you been a doctor?" he asked, after a long silence.

(Lin, Parsons, Demeter)
"You are more than cleared. Time is of the essence we need to speed the clone away as quick as possible. I m hoping your new doctor will be able to examine him and find some clues."
"What about teh second part of the mission" Adam asked,
"I ll let Sonak fill you in on that when you return. I ll see her now. Good luck gentlemen, and try not to hurt any of our people."
Magellan left the trio to their mission and quickly went back down to Sonak.
"I dont have time to beat about the bush so I am just going to give you your orders. When the others return with Nova, I will leave with him and try and effect a rescue. Elron must still be on Assailant and hunting down the clones. I need you to locate him. You will do this by pretending to be a clone yourself, when he makes his move on you, Paikea and Demeter will be on hand to save you and inform Elron that we are back in control. Do you understand?"

"I heard you have a patient waiting for you already?" he asked, trying to be conversational. "He was caught in an explosion, I believe...back on the starbase."
Kerry-Anne only nodded to the comment she had been told of Mr. Kirk already.
After a moment of awkward silence it was Tedak who broke it by asking.
"How long have you been a doctor?"
Kerry-Anne smiled as she looked to Tedak, her smile was warm and showed more than a casual smile she normally gave.
“12 years.. I worked in the more poor provinces of Bajor for a while before deciding to join Starfleet I wanted to see space.”
She smiled at Tedak again before asking.
“Do you have dinner plans tonight Ambassador?”
<Tag>
The turbolift stopped and they both stepped out.
“I don’t know any Romulan recipes but I am very good with Bajoran and Human food… although it has been a while since I bothered to cook.”
<Tag>
There was another brief silence as they stepped into Sickbay Kerry-Anne turned to Ambassador Tedak and said.
“Thank you for the company Ambassador.. tonight at Seven.”
Kerry-Anne turned and looked again around Sickbay taking note of the number of biobeds one of which had a man laying on it she walked over to him and saw he was asleep she decided against waking him.
She turned and was shortly scared by a nurse who had walked up behind her without making a noise.
Kerry-Anne held out her hand and said. “Doctor Kennedy Chief medical officer… Please alert me if Mr. Kirk awakes.”
Kerry-Anne walked over to her office and for the first time sat behind her desk. She picked up the first of many PADDs that she needed to read and began the long task of getting familiar with the crews medical records.
