The Romulan scowled. "Figures," he murmured as he walked away. "Keep me updated on his location in case he decides to vacate his current hide-out."
"You'll need a weapon," Harper told him, holding out his own phaser.
"I am sufficiently armed commander, thank you," Tedak answered, an expression of pure loathing on his face as he regarded the offered weapon. "I require no additional weapons." He cast Lin a 'don't you even dare suggest it' look, then stepped into the turbolift. It irritated him immensely that he was tasked with this dangerous task, feeling it was likely more suited for the marine company that served this vessel.
However, as a diplomat he knew that somewhere down the line, this task was perfectly suited for him, and with his tactical history he was in fact likely the best candidate. Yet, he couldn't help but feel that Lin wanted him occupied, rather than looking over his shoulder on the bridge.
And what truly angered him was Lin's doubt in him. Had he not pointed the Trill to several dangers in the past already? Almost to the point of nearly betraying his own people. And had he not nearly been killed several times as well, by doing the admiral's bidding? And here his loyalty was questioned, and he was forced to swear he knew nothing. Which, of course, was the truth; he did know nothing about this.
The car arrived at deck six and the diplomat got off, moving directly for the passageway. Before crawling in, he pulled out a tricorder he'd taken from sickbay earlier and scanned ahead. Approximately fifty meters into the passage, he read two signals, one belonging to Nova, and the other to the nurse he held hostage. "Admiral Nova, I am coming in to talk to you," he called, putting the tricorder away. "Let the nurse go admiral, she is of no value to you."
He prayed the clone would see the logic in that; a diplomat after all was far more valuable. "Your game is over, he called, approaching as rapidly as he could. "Even as we speak, other clones are being discovered and apprehended. IF you help us apprehend those that created the clones, I'm sure you could be given compensation for it, and perhaps be allowed to go free."
By now, he was in visual range of the clone and his hostage. The nurse looked frightened but to her credit she didn't scream or struggle. "Put down your weapon," Tedak commanded, slowly approaching further, "and let her go. I will take her place if you must have a hostage. We need your help in this, I can vouch for you if you do help us. I have influence, possibly more than you do. Listen to me admiral, and allow us to help you too. If you kill her, and if you escape, you will be hunted down and possibly killed yourself. Is that what you seek? Death?"

"I believe so, Ma'am. Thanks to Ensign Lok's fast talking."
Sonak rose back to her feet, again with Parson's assistance.
Parsons glanced around and holstered his phaser as the other two officers scooped up the Admiral.
"Yes, Ma'am," Parsons replied. Adam then accessed the nearest communications panel and began to send a request for the Chief Medical Officer's presence in Commodore Sonak's office using his command codes, which had been restored by Admiral Lin before leaving the ship.
Parsons stopped upon the Commodore's acquiescence to Pai's treatment, since he was a field medic and felt up to the job. The message was canceled and the group proceeded to the Commodore's office by emergency transport.
Sonak then made contact with Admiral Lin on the Vesuvius, "Mission accomplished admiral," she reported simply, "how are matters on your end?"
Adam was interested to hear how things were going on the Vesuvius and he was glad this nightmare appeared to be coming to a close.

The cloned SA looked at Tedak a moment and then his grin faded,
"For a moment then I thought you were a Tal Shiar agent come to extract me. But now I see your a federation puppet. You'll get no answers from me, your influence is meaningless alongside who I serve. I know my duty."
As quick as a flash he plunged the laser scalpel into the nurse neck. There was the brief sight of blood and then the smell of burning flesh as the nurse was shoved toward Tedak. Tedak staggered and grabbed the woman in horror, as he laid her down unsure if she was dead or alive he looked up to check if the clone was to attack him.
The clone however was stood stock still. He dropped the laser scalpel and reached into his mouth. There was a faint click and then a small cloud of purple gas erupted from between his lips. He coughed once and then collapsed.
TAG Tedak
***
Magellan paced the bridge nervously. He knew Tedak was a capable soldier and had no doubts that he could take on the Clone he was less sure if the Romulan was able to be duplicitous enough to make it seem as if he were an ally, perhaps he hadnt been clear enough in his instructions either way the waiting was agony.
Harper had reported that the ship was now under their control and that Tagert was returning to the Vesuvius to pilot the ship back to dock.
"Things have gone well Commodore. We have apprehended a ship that attempted to rescue the clone. We have taken them prisoner and are returning to Starbase 47 at this moment. We will be with you within the hour. Magellan Out"

The Romulan gagged at the smell, then violently lost the contents of his stomach as he vomited. He felt utterly sick, but he had to get back to the nurse. Horror-struck, he knelt beside her body, pressing down hard on the side of her throat to staunch any bleeding the heat of the scalpel had not cauterised. "Medical emergency!" he gasped, after his hand finally found his combadge. His fingers were slick with blood and it took three attempts to even activate the device. "Deck six," he added, his voice choking.
He had fully expected the clone to take him up on his offer, then when he had tried to kill the nurse, had come to expect an attack. Instead, the clone had committed suicide. The Romulan slumped back, though he kept the pressure on the wound. She would not die, he promised himself. "Doctor Kennedy, respond!" he called, when there was no reply from sickbay.
Then he realised that he might be in a deadzone, one of the few places on a starship where communications were disturbed. Carefully, he picked up the woman's body, staggering under her weight - even though she didn't weigh that much - and started towards the exit of the passageway. "Help me!" he called out.
A passing crewmen saw him, drew his phaser then tapped his combadge. "Medical and Security to Passage Beta six," he reported dutifully, keeping his weapon trained on the diplomat, "possible hostage situation with injured party."
"Dimwit," Tedak growled, lowering the woman to the deck. "I just rescued her. You may find the body of Admiral Nova in the passage. He committed suicide. Now, be a good lad and help me." Fortunately for him, the crewman knelt down without question to assist. "Tedak to Lin. The clone committed suicide and he nearly killed his hostage in the process. The nurse is badly wounded, but medical has been alerted."
He listened to Lin's angry retort, then nodded in understanding that they would soon depart this ship. "Good, I am glad to be returning home," he answered, "I've had enough of this cloak and dagger. I recommend we confront Vebn with our uncovered information upon our return home."
Just then, the medical team arrived and Tedak allowed himself to relax a little. He really needed a shower and if this was going to take much longer, he was going to miss his dinner engagement. Of course, he had to admit that the doctor would then be late as well, as she'd not leave before knowing her nurse would pull through.

Kerry-Anne had been busy at work, with no current patients she had dedicated her time to studying the scans and samples from the Nova clone.
She was worried about Dorothy but she didn’t allow it to stop her working she had high hopes that Dorothy would be fine, a little shaken up but fine.
Not ten minutes later the comm. Channel in sickbay burst to life.
"Medical emergency!"
"Deck six,"
Kerry-Anne turned and pointed to a nurse and two medical staff who had come in to replace Dorothy, they rushed out of the door and Kerry-Anne stood up and moved over to the main bio-bed awaiting the patient to be transported to her.
2 long minutes later they appeared, her medical team and Dorothy.
There was blood all over their hands and Kerry-Anne looked franticly for the source it didn’t take long to see the cut in her neck.
Kerry pushed one of the staff members out of the way and got a closer look, without scanning Dorothy she could tell that her artery had been nicked.
Getting her onto the bed Kerry-Anne and her nurse began the minor surgery to save Dorothy, she had been found and transported to sickbay quickly and the prognosis was good.
Thirty minutes later the wound to Dorothy’s neck was gone as if it had never been there and she was sleeping peacefully.
Kerry-Anne looked down at her uniform and saw the blood stains that now blotched her tunic.
She moved over to the comm. And pressed it hard.
“Doctor Caldwell report to main sickbay please.”
She needed to leave and clean up not only because her duty shift finished an hour ago but because she had a date to prepare for.

The current situation aboard the Vesuvius had finally come to a close, but as Paikea Apirana walked towards his quarters for a well deserved break, he couldn't but wonder who exactly was behind the cloning of Section Admiral Nova and Fleet Admiral Elron. It was a nagging question that would not go away, but he also realized that for the time being it was out of his hands.
"Computer please gather all my personal files concerning Section Admiral Nova and Admiral Elron and store them under file Pai Alpha Three One," Pai said as he walked into his quarters. The one thing that bugged him the most was his growing admiration for the Vulcan, Sonak Reckus. He admitted still disliked the woman but he couldn't help but feel that this crisis was primarily resolved because of her. Paikea was positive that she would end up being promoted for her actions and Pai hated to admitt that she deserved it.
"Computer do I have any messages?" Pai asked wanting to stop thinking about the Vulcan or the mission that he had just finished.
"Affirmative, one from Katie Anderson"
Paikea practically ran towards the computer console and opened the message. He had been waiting to hear from Katie for months and hopefully this was going to be good news......
"Computer send message to Katie Anderson," Paikea said after hours of trying to come up with the correct words to deal with their current situation.
"Pai to Adam, I hope I'm not bothering you, but would you like to do something later," Paikea asked hoping to spend time with a friend.

Sonak was relieved to be able to return to her quarters aboard the Vesuvius, but knew she'd have to see the admiral first before doing so. She still resented the fact that he had used her as he had, without prior warning and it would take some time before she felt she would be able to fully trust the Trill.
By the time she returned to the ship, she had already received the first crew reports and she was pleased to see Parsons reinstated to his position. Jatan was waiting for her at the airlock, throwing his arms around her when she emerged. "I missed you," he whispered, "don't ever scare me like that again."
She allowed the hug, uncomfortably as there were many people witness to the display of emotion, then gently disentangled herself from his hug. "I am sorry, but it was necessary, even if I do not like the means of fabrication. Do please remind me to apologise to the ambassador, I do believe he had the brunt of the fright."
Jatan smiled. "Oh don't worry about him, he's found his comfort elsewhere. I do believe he's got a crush on Doctor Kennedy, and they've a date tonight, or so the grapevine told me."
"Really?" The Vulcan walked alongside her Human husband, eager to see her family again.
"Yes, and he saved the life of her nurse too. Sadly, we did lose the Nova clone, he committed suicide. You should report to Lin first, I'm sure he too is in a hurry to get home."
Nodding, Sonak came to a halt. "In that case I had better report to the bridge first. I shall endeavour not to take too long." She bowed lightly, extending two fingers of her right hand towards Jatan, who brushed them lightly in response, before departing. As swiftly as possible, though she was fairly tired and even hungry, she hurried to the bridge. "Admiral, if you prefer, perhaps we can attend to the debriefing now? I am somewhat anxious to return to my family and I need to have a word with the ambassador when we are done too."
She paused, glancing up at the tall Trill admiral. "And I assume you would be eager to return to your station as well," she added coldly, making no secret of her desire to see him depart from her ship sooner rather than later. However she'd never suggest it out loud, out of respect for his rank, rather than his personality.

"I'll be there in five minutes doctor, have the EMH cover for you until my arrival. You've earned the evening off." John Caldwell smiled, speeding up his pace as he stepped off the turbolift. Exactly three minutes later, he walked in to relieve the CMO. "Off you go," he shooed her off, "have fun."
~
Surprised at not being fussed over, Tedak left the scene of the accident after delivering a verbal report to the admiral. Despite feeling a sense of shock over the admiral's actions and his suicide, Tedak didn't feel particularly horrified or stressed.
He returned to his assigned quarters, took a quick shower and changed into a deep grey suit, covered by a sleeveless dark blue robe. He tucked his blade between the folds of his robe, which was held together by a grey sash matching his suit. A quick check in the mirror told him his appearance was acceptable.
A light chirp caught his attention and he smiled. "Why Nut, I didn't think you cared," he chuckled, "and very good of you to remain hidden. I promise I'll give you your share of attention later, for now, remain here or go to Magellan. I'm sure he has Dinas hiding somewhere." The brown creature chirped again, then stretched lazily on the bed, closing his eyes again.
Still smiling, the Romulan left his quarters and headed for those belonging to the chief medical officer. He tapped the door, then waited patiently for her to open up. As soon as she did, he held out a bunch of red roses to her, feeling somewhat awkward as it certainly was no Romulan custom. "For you," he murmured by way of greeting as he stepped inside.
He remained silent, waiting impatiently for her to speak, watching her as he just stood there. He heard the door slide shut behind him as he took another step forward, then remained standing where he was, unsure of what was expected now. Part of him wanted to jump at her, take her in his arms and just love her, while the more rational part of him wanted him to wait for her first move. Fortunately for him, the sane part of his mind won out, and he waited in silence.

After being relieved from sickbay by Doctor Caldwell, she took five minutes to fill him in on the situation of Dorothy and give him the details of her surgery after she had finished her handover she walked out of sickbay and straight to her quarters.
She had about an hour before Tedak was due to arrive and she had rather a lot to do in that short space of time.
She quickly removed her bloodied uniform and got into the sonic shower, after she was sure she was clean she jumped out and left her hair loose to hang over her shoulders.
She changed into one of her few non uniform outfits, she had taken about five minutes to choose the perfect one for the occasion, a red shoulderless dress that wasn’t to dressy but at the same time showed she took effort in her appearance.
Her next task was to make sure she had food prepared that would be palatable to both her and Tedak, she decided on some earth dishes, Vegetarian lasagne for the dinner and Pavlova for desert. She replicated the Lasagne outright but only replicated the few ingredients for the Pavlova she did not already possess.
After taking half an hour to prepare the desert she moved it under the Replicator and used it to keep the Pavlova cold, she then moved into her bathroom area and dug around inside some of her unpacked luggage until she found a small brown bag.
She tipped the brown bags contents onto the small shelf in front of her mirror and beside her sink, she picked up and examined the colour of several of her lipsticks until finnaly finding the red colour that would compliment her dress as she applied the lipstick her door beeped and she quickly finished before standing up and taking one last look in the mirror and adjusting her hair one last time.
She opened her door and smiled as Tedak held out a bunch of red roses.
"For you,"
Kerry-Anne took them and looked sown at them for a moment before looking up and seeing Tedak stand somewhat awkwardly just inside her quarters, she leaned in and kissed him on the check.
“Thank you Tedak these are lovely… you didn’t need to go to so much trouble.”
She moved back and opened a route for Tedak to take inside her quarters.
“Please come in… I am sorry for the clutter but I have not et had the time to fully unpack yet.”
Her face blushed slightly she looked back to Tedak and said.
“Oh I thought you might like to know Dorothy will make a full recovery.”
She paused for a moment and looked rather awkward herself. “Would you like to start dinner now?”

The Vesuvius made excellent time in returning to Starbase 47. Tagert skillfully docked the ship to an external hardpoint whilst the captured raider however was taken directly taken into the starbases large interior docks. Teams of Security Officers ran on board to apprehend the still comatose raiders.
Magellan spent most of the return trip lodged in the Captains Ready Room in communication with Fleet HQ and Section Admiral Drew via subspace. When alerted to their arrival at the base he emerged from the room and briefly stopped on the bridge.
"My regards Mr Tagert. You managed to prove that at least one of the crew of this vessel is competent" with a nod he departed. Sending a quick comm call to Tedak to say that they would be returning to Starbase Assailant the following day.
As he emerged from the docking hatch he was met by Commodore Sonak, Parsons and Apirana.
"Commodore. The Vesuvius is all yours"
"Thank you admiral," she replied politely, though with a hint of displeasure.
"Good work on catching hold of Elron. We'll meet for a de-brief in say 2 hours. Main Conference facility deck 6." He gave each a curt nod and then left.
TAG All.
Magellan was tired but he knew he still had a lot to do. His first stop was Operations to take an assessment of what was happening. He was reassured to find out the Admiral McCormick had returned and had resumed command. She and Elron were in her office and he joined them there.
"Its still quite a muddle" She noted
"You don't need to tell me" Magellan agreed,
"At least we seem to have stopped them in their tracks." Elron noted, "Whoever is behind the cloning of senior officers seem to have been stopped."
"Can we be sure?" Magellan asked,
Karynn nodded quickly, "Oh yes. We ve run extensive genetic screening of all officers in your absence we have them all. Well by have them, I mean they are all dead."
"Inconvenient that" Magellan noted dryly with a wink at Elron,
Elron threw up his hands, "What! I wasnt about to let another me run around. I have a reputation to maintain"
"Yes and the fact that your clones one was so good was what tipped us off he wasnt you" Magellan jibed.
"Gentleman please" Karynn interceded, "Lets save the jokes for the bar later. The investigation isnt over."
"No?"
"Apparently Argyle didn't believe the cloned Nova for a second. Captain Cornette has the Majesty following up on a lead as we speak. And with your captured ship I m hoping Intell wil be able to wrap this up for good."
"So do I" Magellan agreed, "So to the bar then? I need to get back to SBA as soon as possible, apparently a new Tholian Ambassador has turned up"
"Agreed, but your getting the first round" Karynn grinned,
"Done"
The three admiral picked up their jackets and headed for the door as the lefy Elron held Magellan back a moment,
"One other thing." Elron explained.
Magellan listened carefully a scowl on his face, "Very well Elron. I don't agree but for you, fine."
***
Both Elron and Karynn joined the officers of Assailant and the Vesuvius for the debrief. It was conducted quickly and efficiently with each party being given ample opportunity to file their report. At the conclusion the Vesuvius crew were given leave to return to their ship whilst the SBA staff made their way to their runabout.
Magellan lingered however following the Vesuvius crew. Once the senior staff were back on the bridge he cleared his throat and they seemed to notice him for the first time.
"Admiral I m afraid you have the wrong ship" Commodore Sonak stated with dry Vulcan wit.
Magellan smiled falsely
"I have one other duty to make before you depart on your next mission. Its something I am not in full agreement with especially having seen how your ship is run and how your staff behave" he glanced at Harper, "However I have been assured that this is fully warranted."
He withdrew a small box and handed it to Sonak. She opened it with some curiosity revealing a new rank bar.
"Commodore Sonak as Personnel Officer of Section 47 I hereby promote you to Rear Admiral effective immediately. Congratulations"
The Vulcan merely stared at the small box and it's contents, before looking up at the Trill. This was certainly unexpected, especially after recent events. "I shall endeavour to better the standard," she replied coldly, exchanging the five pips for the bar, "so that next time you may find nothing at fault. Farewell."
TAG ALL
"On that final note I bid you farewell. I m sure our paths will cross again." With that Magellan departed glad to be on his way back to his own command and his own staff.

The Romulan inclined his head ever so slightly, pleased that the nurse would recover fully. "That would be acceptable," he replied, in almost Vulcan-like tone, though he smiled softly. They walked towards the set table and in a very gentleman-like fashion, he held a seat back for her, then lightly pushed it back forward as she seated herself. Then he seated himself opposite of her.
Just then, Lin's message resounded, recalling him to the shuttle in the morning. "Understood," the Romulan replied, with hint of regret. "I do believe the Vesuvius will call at Assailant sooner or later," he promised, "come visit me when they do."
After dinner, Tedak was starting to feel more comfortable, though the stress of having to leave this woman so soon was starting to become more than he could handle. "I regret that we don't have more time, and that we met under these circumstances," he explained, reaching to take her hand. "I hope you will come visit me, I will miss you."
Carefully, he leaned over, holding on to her hand with one of his, while circling his free arm around her shoulders, pulling her slightly closer. He gave her a passionate kiss, sighing softly as he was finally forced to gasp for breath. "Ahh, to be a starfleet officer," he groaned, "how I wish now that I wasn't viewed as the general enemy, then I could just transfer and stay."
He sat back, a pained expression on his face. "I have to leave now, but I'll never forget you. I promise." With a final kiss, he finally departed her quarters in a rush, not wanting to torture himself any longer.
The next morning, he reported to the shuttlecraft, looking tired and miserable. In silence, he took his seat and strapped himself in, Nut lying lazily across his lap.
