~Nevada?~ T'Val thought ~I thought we were going to the Angel, whatever do we need to do on the Nevada?~ On her shoulder, Yade seemed to agree as she squawked in irritation. Then, just as suddenly, she settled down. ~Ah, she senses a litter-mate~ T'Val thought, smiling ever so slightly. "Nevada it is then," she said, though she kept her tricorder open. "We have no way of knowing whether the Nevada crew is infected, " she informed Mercy, "if they are, how do we prevent infection of ourselves?" <Mercy> "The virus we are dealing with is an enterovirus," T'Val suddenly announced, as she peered at her tricorder, "the results of our virus scans have just been sent to my tricorder. Now that we have this knowledge, we can at least contain infection. There are two things we can do for now; the first is to stop further infection by inhibiting the protein neuraminidase." She pauses at Mercy's blank look. "Neuraminidase is an enzyme that breaks the bonds that hold new virus particles to the outside of an infected cell. Once the enzyme breaks these bonds, this sets free new viruses that can infect other cells and spread infection. Neuraminidase inhibitors block the enzyme's activity and prevent new virus particles from being released, thereby limiting the spread of infection," she explained. (1) ~He ought to know this~ she thought, as she stored the information on a PADD. "Another course we can take is blocking the binding of the virus particles to the host cell. This we can do by inhibiting hemagglutinin." She sighed as he gave her another blank look. "Hemagglutinin is a protein that allows the virus particle to bind to, and penetrate the host cell so that it can multiply itself. (2) If we block hemagglutinin until we find a way to erradicate this virus, we may make people temporarily immune to infection. However, I have no way of knowing how this may affect the general health of the individuals we try this on." <Mercy> "Now, perhaps we should beam over. I doubt Captain Jira will like to be kept waiting." sources: (1) Antiviral drugs(2) article "Griepje?" in Metro (free newspaper) dd 18 October 2005

“Doctor, whatever your diagnosis, I still need to accompany our guest onto the artifact. It is imperative that we are on our way quickly. I’m sure I’ll be fine.”<Melain, Frek, Grace,>Melain turned her attention away from the blood sample and began to scan the colonal. His epinephrine levels where off the chart, and although he showed none of the physical symptoms of the virus, any readings of the nervouse system where tough to ignore. "I'm not sure it would be a good idea for the Colonal to leave sickbay right now, never mind the ship." "What do you mean? I'm under orders to take Gremmel back to the Pyramid!" Zhuk replied, obviosly very upset and most likely disturbed by what he had almost done. "You've become infected by the virus. I'm putting you in quarintine Zhukarak, I'm sorry, but we can't risk this spreading." Melain apologised. "Computer activate a quarintine field around section A12." The air around Zhukarak shimmerd and glowed a faint blue. "Frek, I'm going to need to scan you as well. both of use are also going to spend some time in decon as well as anyone else exposed the the colonal over the last past hour." "You've gpot to be joking Doc, that's almost the entire bridge crew at least!" Frek protested. "All the more reason to insure they have not become infected." Melain replied. =A= Doctor Lorre to all crew of the Nevada, Colonal Hrisvalor has been infected by the virus. To limit the spread everyone who has come in contact with the Colonal over the last hour is to report directly to decon to undergo decontamination. This is a direct order.=A= <tag anyone who'd like to reply> "I'm sending a message to Star Base Assailent, they can't send anymnore ships out here, obviosly whatever this is affects us much easier then it did the Dradrians." A minute later the transmission had been sent Dr. Lorre Melain reporting from the USS Nevada, e where forced to put the El'Salvador under quarintine severak hours ago as some of their crewmembers have been experiancing virus related hallucinations. It has come to my attention that at least one of our own crewmembers is also infected. I advise that no more ships be sent to the artifact untill the source of this virus is identified and stopped.<tag anyone who wants to reply to that>

Frek sighed sadly as he hoisted himself on his regular biobed. “Is this really necessary?” he complained, “I haven’t seen you in weeks and this is my welcome?” “Yes it is,” Melain answered firmly as she activated the scanner, “And sit still will you? Maybe we can play some springball later.” Frek cringed at the thought. Springball! He had a vivid and unpleasant memory of the muscular pain he got after the last time they played. What a mess. Barely back on the Nevada and already possibly infected with that damn virus. He might go totally potty just like Colonel Hrisvalar.
When the Nevada emerged from their little ‘gateway’ adventure and docked at Starbase Assailant Frek had been recalled to Earth. Starfleet headquarters. Some sort of debriefing concerning the navigation through the gateways. Lieutenant T’Fat, the Nevada’s CEO was to join him. They managed get a passage to Earth on Denobulan transport. Ten days later they arrived and brought before some kind of research committee. Frek was tired and didn’t feel like a lot of question at the moment. “I could do with a shower, some food and a little bit of rest sir,” he told the ranking officer. The ranking officer looked at him as if was some sort of strange alien from another planet. Well, of course he was, but you get the point. “Rest lieutenant? You just had a ten day cruise on your way to Earth.” Clearly the commander in charge had never spent ten days on a cramped transport stuck with a Vulcan who simply never stops talking. Talking in the Vulcan fashion. Frek was simply lucky not being bored to death by T’Fat. He tried again. The commander said no. Frek argued some more and realised it would be more useful hitting himself with a brick. The debriefing went on for about a week. You know how those things go. They asked him to tell them all about the system. So he did. The researchers exchanged meaningful glances with each other and nodded intelligently every now and again. They told him he was dismissed and went to discuss the matter. The next day they asked him to tell it again and the third day they wanted a written report. “But I just told you for several times what it does and how it works as far as my knowledge goes,” Frek said desperately. “Yes,” one of the researchers replied and glanced at his superior, “But it would be more useful for us in writing.” “You recorded this,” Frek said, “Why don’t you just make a transcript?” “We want it in you own words.” He couldn’t believe it, these were supposed to be the finest scientist and engineers in Starfleet. The brighetest minds clearly needed some illumination. “But those are my own words. I was the one who did all the talking, remember?” Five minutes later Frek felt like ripping his antenna’s of his head in frustration. He wrote the report.
It has been a long week, Frek thought as materialized. It wouldn’t be until the end of the week that the USS Mellow, a Starfleet supply vessel, was scheduled to depart for Assailant. He decided to spend his free time with some sight seeing. Someone told Egypt was an interesting place to visit, so he decided to take a look. Curiously he looked around. The sun was up, sky was blue. It was beautiful. Something burped. Frek looked over his should and stared into the face of a camel. The camel stared back with dreamy eyes, took an interest in Frek’s antenna’s and tried to bite into them. “Hey!” He shouted and tried to push the animal away. Some guy dressed in a dress rushed over and smiled friendly, showing his teeth. All three of them. Frek took him in and raised an eyebrow. Local fashion apparently had been stuck in time for half a millennium or so. “You like camel?” the local guy asked. Perhaps he was the owner of the thing. “Camel likes you.” The camel burped again in agreement. It smelled.
Frek sighed as he dumped his bag in the room assigned to him. He could feel a slight tremble as the USS Mellow set sail for the interstellar seas. At least the bed as comfortable, he thought as he sagged down on it. The last week he had learned several things about Egypt. It’s hot. It’s hard to get the stench of the Nile out of your clothes when you have fallen into the water. And camels are annoying and smelly creatures. Perhaps he should have bought one, as a gift for Danara. An evil grin appeared by the thought alone. The pyramids were a bit freaky though, clearly Borg design.
The shuttle was on a direct intercept course with the Nevada. Frek had decided to continue directly to the Nevada. He had taken one of the Nevada’s shuttles which had been in repair on Starbase Assailant. Frek opened a channel to the Nevada, which answered almost instantly. “This is Nevada flight control. Take approach vector 123 mark 67, you are cleared for shuttlebay two. Welcome back sir.” The voice sounded familiar, but it took him a few seconds to put a name tag on a face on it. “Ah, Mr Toledo,” Frek greeted once he recognized the voice, “How are your kittens?” “Kittens?” Toledo seemed confused. “Yeah, you know. Small furry things, head, four paws and…a tail.” Frek wasn’t sure on the tail; perhaps it had more than one or none at all. “Didn’t you have an entire nest of them?” “Hmm, yes sir. I think they are fine. I distributed most of them along the crew. If you wanted one you’re a bit too late,” Toledo told him. And thank goodness for that, he added silently. He wasn’t too sure about his superior’s capabilities to take care of something fragile. After all he hardly could take care of himself without getting heard. He wisely didn’t say that out loud.
Barely had he freshened up a bit and put on his uniform when his combadge chirped. “Mr Thelev, good to have you back on board again.” It was his fellow Andorian and First Officer Colonel Zhukarak Hrisvalar. “We’re going to the artefact; Counsellor Mitchell is coming with us as well. Report to the bridge.” “Yes sir. Thelev out.” No rest for the wicked, Frek thought as he made his way to the Colonel.
Carefully he touched his throat; it still felled a bit soar. “Sit still,” Melain said again, “I can’t scan you properly if you keep shuffling about.” “Sorry.” Rachael, nurse appeared from one of the rooms in sickbay. “Well, well, well. Looks who’s back.” “Oh, hi…” “And what a surprise, back in sickbay. Already,” she gave him a wicked smile, “Don’t go away. Look what we’ve made for you.” She disappeared for a few seconds and came back with some sort of plaque. “Look!” she said happily and showed him the plaque. His name was written on it. Along with the comment ‘Reserved, Regular patient’. “Ha ha,” he said with a displeased smile, “Very funny.” Melain managed to suppress a grin, more or less, and finished the scans. “What does it say?” Frek asked a little uncertain.

“What does it say?” Frek asked a little uncertain. "You're not showing signs of an infection, BUT to be certain you will still go into decon. Virus's take time to exhibit symptoms so unless you want to join the colonal you'll follow me." Melain replied. It was nice seeing her friend again, even if it wa sin the regular fashion. Before Frek could reply the soors to sickbay slid open and several bridge officers, as well as a handfull of marines and a couple junior officers strolled in one by one. It appeared that her ship wide announcement had not gone unoticed. "Welcome to sickbay everyone. You'll be here for about an hour so I hope you let your commanding offcer know. If not I'll speak to them myself. I'll be joining you, as while as Mr Thelev and Rachel. While we undergo decontamination I'll be running a few scans on each of you." Melain tried to sound chipper but it was a chore, she knew none of them wanted to be here. Just as she was about to shepherd everyone into the decon center, a small room with hard benches to the rear of ward 2, the door to sickbay slid open again and in strolled someon she was hopeing would not, it was Danara." "If you wanted to see me this badly doctor, all you needed to do was ask." Danara sighed. "I ran into the Colonal in the hallway an hour ago, I suppose he told you?" Frek growned from where he stood beside Melain. "Welcome to the party Danara, nice to see you again." he sounded pained. "Right then, I'll breif you in the decon Danara, come on everyone It's going to be a bit cramped but we'll be fine." Melain insisted, resuming her herding. The group had to undress to their underclothes in order for decon to be successul. This was done with a great deal of uneccesary discrection and it took more time then appropriate for everyone to be inside the room. "Computer, close doors and begin decontamination." Melain ordered. 'Tom, You have sickbay." "Acknowledged." the EMh replied, Melain hardly ever shut him off anymore, it just didn't seem fair.

Zhuk remained in the quarantine section, contemplating his next move. He observed for a few minutes. Frek had been given a clean bill of health, of course he had just arrived on-board. The quarantine announcement had been made, and crew members were coming in by the dozens. This was too much and time was running out. Zhuk had to play his trump card now.
"I'm sorry Doctor, but this won't do. There is no time left, look at our guest. The risk to myself is minimal compared to the risk of the entire crew if we don't get him over there now. We also have Doctor Mercy and Healer T'Val joining us. They have brought along some valuable information, and it can't wait any longer."
Zhuk walked over to the computer panel for the force field.
"Override quarantine field, section Alpha 12, Hrisvalar, Zeta Eta Tau Zeta 6691! Confirm!"
-/\- Lieutenant Colonel First Class Zhukarak Hrisvalar. Voice recognition and command code confirmed! -/\-
The Quarebtine field collapsed and Zhuk exited.
"I'm sorry again, Doctor, but you know as well as I that as long as you do not revoke my command status as First Officer for medical reasons, I am still in charge."
Zhuk hated to do this, but a command decision is what he just made at the risk of himself, but hopefully not for the rest of the crew.
"Mr. Thelev, arm yourself. Bring our guest along. Counselor, you're with us as well. I'll have the other two doctors meet us on the artifact."
Zhuk noted the surprised looks all around, but he didn't care at the moment. He knew that it was her job to keep everyone alive, but it was his job to complete the mission to help ensure the same.
Frek returned from a nearby armory locker, with a phaser holstered. Meanwhile the rest of the away team had dressed themselves into bio-hazard suits. Zhuk released Gremmel, and the three of them left sickbay with Grace in tow.
On their way to the transporter room, Zhuk tapped his comm badge to inform the two doctors to transport directly to the artifact and gave them the coordinates.
Soon the shimmer faded, and four lifeforms (including Theel'zhiin) were transported to what appeared to be the control room of the artifact. Soon another blue shimmer appeared only to reveal the presence of the two doctors, who were also garbed in their bio-hazard suits.

"It just so happens that I brought along a few bio-hazard suits. Here put this on."
Stuart handed one over to T'Val and watched her wiggle her way into it. Just then his comm badge chirped. It was Nevada's First Officer, informing them where they were to beam over. They weren't going to the Nevada after all. They were indeed going directly to the artifact. Gremmel, their reptilian guest was going to be there also.
After that information had been received, T'Val continued with her thoughts about the virus. Stuart was looking at the PADD where T'Val had stored her information when she finally finished and said.
Stuart had to admit, he didn't know either.
Dressed now in their suits, they stepped onto the dual transporter pad together. Stuart looked over at her as she returned his gaze. Stuart hoped that they would get through this, and that he would have the chance to explore the possibilities. He caught a smile on T'Val's face just when the blue glow of the transporter energy beam materialized.

De-con desperately was in need of some floor heating. The tiles were cold and so was he. Frek glanced around the room. Some of his crewmates seemed to be a bit embarrassed and were looking around a bit sheepishly. Frek gave Melain a grin. “At least our uniforms won’t be stolen by some indigenous desert ducks this time.”
When they got out of de-con Colonel Hrisvalar had overridden the quarantine field. Melain didn’t look very happy at all and Frek himself wasn’t too sure about Zhukarak’s decision as well. None the less he followed his superior’s orders.
“Aye sir.” He picked his phaser and went on to pick up Gremmel. The four of them materialized in the pyramids control centre. Frek glared around curiously. This was the second time in about two weeks he was standing inside a pyramid. Although he head to admit there was a slight difference between the two. For one thing the other one was in some desert on Earth and this one was floating in space, but still. The air started shimmering again and two more figures dressed in hazard suits appeared. T’Val and Stuart he guessed. Gremmel looked relieved; clearly he was glad to be back in familiar surroundings. Frek wished he could say the same. The ship looked to alien to him to be very comforting. The alien walked over to a control panel and started to push a couple of commands. Suddenly the ship seemed to be come alive again. Lights on panels started to flick and information started to scroll over the monitors fixed in the wall. “What’s he doing?” Frek asked in general.

T'Val stayed close to Mercy, as they appeared inside the artefact. She was immensely relieved that she didn't have to meet up with Jira, as the last time she'd seen him, he'd put her up on report while it was his own faul that she lashed out at him. Her tricorder started beeping at her the minute they had re-appeared.
"One of the Andorians present is infected," she informed Mercy over their private comlink, "I believe we have found our guinea pig for our hypothesis." She looked up at her companion. "The reptilian does not appear to be infected, by my tricorder does not recoginize the species, so for all we know he may very well be infected. I recommend that we keep on our suits, to avoid contamination."
Now, she stepped away from Mercy, and walked up to the Andorian who appeared to be in charge. Now she recognized him as the one who had Impressed a blue hatchling from Aeris' first clutch. She waved her tricorder up and down his torso. "Are you experiencing any ill-effects?" she asked him, quite bluntly, "you appear to have been infected with the same virus that affected the crew of the USS Angel."
<Zhukarak>
She moved over to Thelev. "You do not appear to be infected," she said, "this is interesting." She turned back to Mercy. "Two of the same species, one infecte, one not."

Grace was in deep contact with Gremmel, that she didn't register the appearance of Dr Mercy or Healer T'Val. Gremmel was quite happy to be 'home'.
"Grace this is good. I can now expire."
"Gremmel, before you expire would you give me the information for peace? The Elder's can not be angry with you if you are no longer here."
"You are right, Grace. It should not matter to me if the Elders are angry if after I have expired, but I have, as you say, my orders that I must follow."
"I understand completely about following orders, but, Gremmel, I don't always follow orders. Especially if I feel the orders are unreasonable. You are the one who has to decide if your orders are unreasonable, as I feel that is what you think."
"Yes. I do think the orders are unreasonable. I feel that my home has created the problem to your 'humans'. In the short time I have left, I will think on my orders. Please leave my mind for this time."
"Thank you for thinking about our problem, Gremmel. I look forward to your next contact."
Grace turned to Zhuk "Colonel. Gremmel is very close to expiring. He feels that his home, this Artifact, is causing our medical problem. However, he is under orders not to give information on his home to strangers. He feels his orders are unreasonable and is deciding if he should disobey them. I will keep you informed.
"Thank you, Grace. We have been joined by Dr. Mercy and Healer T'Val."
Dr. Mercy addressed Grace first "Hello, Grace. It is good to see you again. ANd apparently, you are not effected by this virus."
"Perhaps, my contact with Gremmel, has made me immuned. I do however, sense a number of the Nevada's crew are effected."
occ: Sorry got to go.

Gremmel breathed a huge sigh of relief as the transport beam returned him to his home. He relished in the now stale air and darkness, at least he could die happy now. He swiflty moved to the master console and began to activate systems. Lights quickly came back on followed by a whir as life support kicked in. "You should be fine now" he sent to Grace, "Fine."Grace noted dryly, "What is happening to the Angel is happening to us." Gremmel looked at her and then the others. "You are acting oddly?" "Some of the crew are beginning to have nightmares." Gremmel shook his head sadly, "This is not good, so little time, so little time" he muttered.
Grace turned to Zhukarak, "Gremmel seems much more at home here, his vitals have improved but hes still at deaths door. He says hes activated life support." "Good Perhaps now he can shut this thing down or something" "We ll see, I ll ask him more." As Grace turned her mind back to Gremmel she felt a subtle change in his behaviour. "Your missing people are through there" he pointed, Grace related this to Zhukarak and the away team moved towards the Diamond shaped hatch. As they approached, a fine green mist descended like a curtain between them and Gremmel an the control panel. Zhukarak turned and made to grab the reptilian but found his hand bouncing off the green haze. "A forcefield" he growled, "What the hell is he up to" he asked Grace, She shrugged and asked him, Gremmel wearily sank into his seat, "No time no time," he whispered his voice dim in her mind, "Can't risk your madness destroying the console. The way the ridged one destroyed the deflector dish they sent. No hope now all on Randicore are doomed as are you. Things ruined, I have failed, I have cursed an entire world. I have failed the Elders, I am not worthy to be here. Must...must sleep." "Grace. Grace - What did he say?" Grace looked up and explained his last words, "I cant tell if hes dead or unconscious either way I can't read him." Zhukarak sighed, "Any comms to teh Nevada" Frek shook his head, "I just tried my comm, the forcefield scatters all com lines. It looks like we are stuck outside the Control Panel." "What about the Door?" Frek leaned over and pushed what appeared to be a release. The door slid open revealing a long passage way that opened on to a gantry. It ran through a vast chamber. Thick green conduits ran up the walls that seemed to go up and down for 100's of metres above and below them. The conduits pulsed in an irregular fashion - emitting and odd green light. Frek leaned over the edge but couldnt see the bottom - it looked as if the chamber extended the whole height of the artifact. The gantry led to a series of doors and stairways, suddenly an eeire sound echoed up from the depths, a blood curdling scream.

When the call had come through from Dr Lorre, ordering that anyone who had been in contact with Colonel Hrisvalar immediately report to sickbay, Harrias had disregarded it. For one thing, he did not believe that he was infected, he was sure he would have noticed such a thing. And secondly, he had come to realise that it was proximity to the artefact that was causing this, not contagion. A few minutes later, he had been angered to discover that Dr Mercy and T’Val had avoided the Nevada, and were instead continuing straight to the artefact. And then later still, he was further angered when Talla informed him that they had lost contact with the away team.
He tapped his commbadge. =/\= Dr Lorre, please give me some good news. =/\= =/\= Good news sir? We aren’t in the habit of giving good news here. Half of those that I have tested have been infected, and I still insist that you need a check up sir. =/\= =/\= I don’t have time Doctor. There are too many things that need doing. I thought I should inform you that I am dropping the quarantine on the El’Salvador. It is pretty obvious that we are now as infected as them, and that as contagious as this might be, it is our proximity to this artefact that is causing the spread. =/\= =/\= That is of course, your prerogative sir. However, I will lodge a formal objection to it. =/\= =/\= Are you questioning me Doctor? I am disgusted in you. Harrias out. =/\=
The trill sighed. He missed the voices of those who had come before him, and wondered where Jira had gone. He knew that he was infected, knew that what had happened to Jamey had affected him in it’s own way. He knew that he should cede command and let Dr Lorre see to him. But he couldn’t. After the last mission when he had left Grace in command, he had sworn that he would never again give command of this vessel away unless he truly couldn’t do it.
- “Captain, we have an incoming transmission from the El’Salvador. I can’t quite figure it out, something about one of their crew being taken over by another person?” - “Well, why not? We’ve had everything else. Have them beam over to our observation lounge. If you wish, I believe no one would be offended if you wore a haz suit.” - “I’ve been open to it for this long. Why suit up now?” - “Good point.” The trill sighed.
A few minutes later, and most of the El’Salvador’s senior staff were gathered with the Nevada’s in the observation lounge.
- “Captain Irae, so good to see you again.” Harrias offered her his hand. - “And yersel’ Cap’n Jira.” She returned. - “Yes, not so sure about the Jira bit right now. Anyway, I wish we had time for this, but I believe Mr Nokomis has some things to explain?” - “To use your own words Captain. I’m not so sure about the Nokomis part at the moment.” Parker spoke up with a smile. Harrias nodded, and then Nokomis spoke. - “He is right. Ariennye is here, and she is safe. I shall return her body to her once I have completed my task. However, right now it is important that I get you to listen to me. The artefact is causing this virus which is so badly affecting you. This is not news to you, I know, however I needed to confirm it to you. This device was designed to calm worlds, and bring them inline with our beliefs. This to you might sound barbaric and murderous, but I assure you, it was never meant in this way. We would keep the contact to a minimum, and we could often achieve our goal without loss of life. It would bend the minds of those on the planet to accept us. Once we had gained the acceptance, they usually continued to accept us without the need of this artefact.” She shook her head. “I am sorry, Ariennye’s term is the one I use so readily. Our name for this machine is a ‘pacifier’. As I said, this machine was used only to achieve peace. The Elders would send people to each of the machines…” - “Each of the machines?” Harrias asked. - “Yes, Captain. There are hundreds of these. Nay, were hundreds. You yourself came here from one of the ‘hubs’, a machine that controls a number of pacifiers. As I was saying, the Elders would send people to each of these machines, to operate them. Gremmel is one such person. It might surprise you to learn that he is over three hundred years old, and has been stationed on this pacifier for almost two hundred of those years. During those two hundred years much has changed. The Elders homeworld was attacked, and it left them in ruins. Few survived, and those who did had no thoughts for anything except their own survival. So, the remaining pacifiers slowly fell into disrepair, and many, as this one, now radiate their ‘drug’ indiscriminately. What was once aimed, and triggered is now constantly on, and going out in all directions. However, if you destroy the artefact, you will trigger an even stronger burst that will kill all within 5 sectors.”
Harrias listened long and hard to her words, and was about to ask a question when he heard it come instead from the lips of Captain Irae. - “And yerself? Who are ye to be telling us such?” - “I am an Elder. An Elder who stopped thinking about her own survival, and instead thought about what might be happening, and what is happening.”

my point is that if this artifact was to be destroy would undo many things
in the time or could altar time itself
aries the god war had done something to this artifact in my time frame
i can't say what he did only that it would be a bad idea for anyone destory the artifact.
i came from my time frame to make sure you don't
an one other thing my good friends the name is xena next one of you call me ariennye you are going to be in some series trouble.
because my friend is beging held aries he says he wants the future to know my name an if they don't he will hurt my friend.

the only way i was able to get here was because of ariennye she a desend of mine not that she knows that yet. an none of you can tell her this she going have to be ease into this with my help.
so there are going to be some things that ariennye will see an hear that you will not. its a desend journey that they must deal with these things
i was supose to come here help ariennye deal with beging my desend but as you can aries had other plans
infact you were not suppose to know about me just just yet but aries had made sure that every one is to know. you see my friend he has her an using that againest me ariennye was only suppose to know about at this time later i would have dealing with you later but thats for another time.

When the Colonal had overridden the quarintine field and made off with Frek Melain had almost gone after them, untill she realised how stupid that would be. if she was also infected she would infect others. Not to mention that over the past half hour she'd come down with an increasingly painful headache and the idea to running about the ship, or even leaving sickbay simply seemed unreasonable to her. Melain didn't believe in treating mild medical issues she faced, pampering the body towards colds, and headaches kept it sluggish so she hadn't attempted to treat this one, and expected it would just go away. In the Decon unit she had examined other crewmembers, and things didn't add up. Some like Danara who had come into direct contact where unaffected, while others who had only come because they'd been in the same room as the colonal for less then a minute, where infected. "By the Prophets! I've been so blind!" Melain growled at herself. "Computer end decon cylce, command code Lorre 232 Alpha J Major, confirm." [decon cylcle Terminated./i] The computer replied.
"What's wrong?" one of the crewmembers asked.
"I've made a discovery. Decon won't stop this virus from spreading, it's airborn, not contact that spreads the patogine."
"have you scanned yourself Doctor?" Rachel asked, prying the medical tricorder out of Melain's clenched hand.
"Of course not, I haven't had time.." Melain replied, she felt insulted.
"I have time, I'll do it." Rachel insisted.
"I'm not infected, I haven't had hallucinations!" Melain protested, this was ridiculouse, people where being infected as the spoke and Rachel wanted to waste time scanning her! Before she could argue further Melain's comm badge spoke
"How dare he question my medical knowledge!" Melain spat, jerking away from rache's tricorder.
"Perhaps you should consider apologising to the Captain, you are infected Melain, It would appear that you came under the effects of the virus approximatly half an hour ago, five minutes before the colonal arrived." Rachel said. "It seems that the captain is correct."
"How can I be infected, I'm not showing any signs of halluconations..."
"You are not an Andorian, or a Human, you're a Bajoran. It has already been seen that this virus effects some species differently then others, it seems that Bajoran's become unreasonable and impulsive." Rachel replied calmly before turning to the other crewmember still standing about in their underclothes. "Get dressed, I'm going to get some biosuites for those of us who have not yet been infected. I'm taking over Sickbay, If you have a problem with that Docotr, feel free to take it up with the Captain."
Melain suddenly felt both angry and helpless at the same time, "Rachel I must..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Tom, get her up on a biobed and make sure she stays there, like this she's a danger to anyone who doesn't realize what condition she'd in." Rachel ordered. Doctor Lorre fought against the EMH, but wasn't able to escape him, Tom bound her onto Biobed one and Rachel felt traitorus.
There where biosiutes in a closet in ward three and she sent Danara to fetch them. "Danara, Johnson, T'Vlet, and Marran. Put these on and keep them on. Everyone else stay here, Tom will look after you."
"Where are you going?" Tom asked.
Rachel finished slipping on her biosuite. "To check the rest of the crew and try an keep those who are unaffected that way, Johnson and Danara come with me I'll need you help."
The two crewmembers nodded, grabbed the remaining biosuites and followed Rachel out the door.
=A=Captain Jira , It's Nurse Taylor. I've taken charge of sickbay due the incompacitation of our CMO, She's been infected by the virus. Can you revoke her command codes?=A= =A= I can, but why, she can't be in any condition to cause trouble.=A= =A= The virus is affecting her differently. She's unruley, and impulsive. If she can still make commands she could undermine any action we take to contain her. =A= <tag Harrias Jira>
(O.O.C when I post in blue, I'm posting as Nurse Rachel Taylor, when I post in teal, It's as Lorre Melain )
Zhuk turned to Grace "Grace can you use your mind to contact the Nevada. We need to inform them of what is happening here."
"No need for that, Colonel. The Captain's symbiot, Jira, has been trying to contact me. It would appear Jira is now separated from Harrias. Jira remembered that I have this ability, I will let him through. Patience Zhuk"
Grace closed her eyes and opened her mind "Yes, Jira, how can I help you?"
"I am sorry to do this to you, Grace but as I am now separate for Harrias, I have seem to have no way to communicate with him. This is very strange, I have never experienced this before. But it is I that will help you, not the other way around."
"However do you mean, Jira?"
"Harrias has removed the quarantine on the El'Sal. Currently, members of the El'Sal senior staff are on the Nevada. Apparantly, one of the El"Sal crew has been taken over by one of the Elder's named Xena and would prefer to be addressed as Xena."
Alright, I will inform the Colonel."
"No, Grace you misunderstand. You can inform the Colonel of course, but I think you should try to get throught to Gremmel and have him contact the elder know as Xena. If he can't, then maybe you can, since you have had good success with Gremmel."
The Jira symbiot went on to explain what he had heard the elder, Xena, say about the Artifact (now know as the Pacifier). The contact was broken by Grace in order for her to inform Zhuk and the rest of the away team. Grace was going to let Zhuk make the decision of what to do next.
Xena spoke the artifact is problem because of Aries so if i know Aries there only one thing he has in mind an thats taking over the world an having me by his side as his queen. some how we have to trick him into undoing what he did to the artifact an then trap him in HEPHAESTUS coffin
i need my Sword an Chakram an Gabrielle Sais to lock him in there they are the keys to the coffin.
i will need three people to help me lock the coffin as well
one person per weapon an they must not hold darkness in there heart or hate
when we do lock the coffin.
so any ideas of how to get these items?
it is possible he will use all who were affected, by the artifact to stop me or anyone else from putting him in the coffin . so we have to come up with a plan if i fell i need to know that three of you will be able to do this.
Now, she stepped away from Mercy, and walked up to the Andorian who appeared to be in charge. Now she recognized him as the one who had Impressed a blue hatchling from Aeris' first clutch. She waved her tricorder up and down his torso. "Are you experiencing any ill-effects?" she asked him, quite bluntly, "you appear to have been infected with the same virus that affected the crew of the USS Angel." “Yes! It appears so, but that is not important at the moment. We do not have any time to lose. If there is a cure to be had, it will be through the help of Gremmel here and this ship.”Gremmel breathed a huge sigh of relief as the transport beam returned him to his home. He relished in the now stale air and darkness, at least he could die happy now. He swiflty moved to the master console and began to activate systems. Lights quickly came back on followed by a whir as life support kicked in. "You should be fine now" he sent to Grace, "Fine."Grace noted dryly, "What is happening to the Angel is happening to us." Gremmel looked at her and then the others. "You are acting oddly?" "Some of the crew are beginning to have nightmares." Gremmel shook his head sadly, "This is not good, so little time, so little time" he muttered. Grace turned to Zhukarak, "Gremmel seems much more at home here, his vitals have improved but hes still at deaths door. He says hes activated life support." "Good Perhaps now he can shut this thing down or something" "We ll see, I ll ask him more." As Grace turned her mind back to Gremmel she felt a subtle change in his behaviour. "Your missing people are through there" he pointed, Grace related this to Zhukarak and the away team moved towards the Diamond shaped hatch. As they approached, a fine green mist descended like a curtain between them and Gremmel an the control panel. Zhukarak turned and made to grab the reptilian but found his hand bouncing off the green haze. "A forcefield" he growled, "What the hell is he up to" he asked Grace, She shrugged and asked him, Gremmel wearily sank into his seat, "No time no time," he whispered his voice dim in her mind, "Can't risk your madness destroying the console. The way the ridged one destroyed the deflector dish they sent. No hope now all on Randicore are doomed as are you. Things ruined, I have failed, I have cursed an entire world. I have failed the Elders, I am not worthy to be here. Must...must sleep." "Grace. Grace - What did he say?" Grace looked up and explained his last words, "I cant tell if hes dead or unconscious either way I can't read him." Zhukarak sighed, "Any comms to teh Nevada" Frek shook his head, "I just tried my comm, the forcefield scatters all com lines. It looks like we are stuck outside the Control Panel." "What about the Door?" Frek leaned over and pushed what appeared to be a release. The door slid open revealing a long passage way that opened on to a gantry. It ran through a vast chamber. Thick green conduits ran up the walls that seemed to go up and down for 100's of metres above and below them. The conduits pulsed in an irregular fashion - emitting and odd green light. Frek leaned over the edge but couldnt see the bottom - it looked as if the chamber extended the whole height of the artifact. The gantry led to a series of doors and stairways, suddenly an eeire sound echoed up from the depths, a blood curdling scream. Zhuk turned to Grace "Grace can you use your mind to contact the Nevada. We need to inform them of what is happening here." "No need for that, Colonel. The Captain's symbiot, Jira, has been trying to contact me. It would appear Jira is now separated from Harrias. Jira remembered that I have this ability, I will let him through. Patience Zhuk" Grace closed her eyes and opened her mind "Yes, Jira, how can I help you?" "I am sorry to do this to you, Grace but as I am now separate for Harrias, I have seem to have no way to communicate with him. This is very strange, I have never experienced this before. But it is I that will help you, not the other way around." "However do you mean, Jira?" "Harrias has removed the quarantine on the El'Sal. Currently, members of the El'Sal senior staff are on the Nevada. Apparantly, one of the El"Sal crew has been taken over by one of the Elder's named Xena and would prefer to be addressed as Xena." Alright, I will inform the Colonel." "No, Grace you misunderstand. You can inform the Colonel of course, but I think you should try to get throught to Gremmel and have him contact the elder know as Xena. If he can't, then maybe you can, since you have had good success with Gremmel." The Jira symbiot went on to explain what he had heard the elder, Xena, say about the Artifact (now know as the Pacifier). The contact was broken by Grace in order for her to inform Zhuk and the rest of the away team. Grace was going to let Zhuk make the decision of what to do next. <tag Zhuk, Harrias, Arienne, anyone!!> Zhukarak listened to Grace as she explained what was happening on the Nevada. The information was not good.
“Everyone, we need to find those five missing Angel crewmembers first. Use your tricorders to see if we can get a lock on them.”
Just then, Grace was receiving another telepathic message from Jira, and she relayed that information to Zhuk and the rest.Xena spoke the artifact is problem because of Aries so if i know Aries there only one thing he has in mind an thats taking over the world an having me by his side as his queen. some how we have to trick him into undoing what he did to the artifact an then trap him in HEPHAESTUS coffin i need my Sword an Chakram an Gabrielle Sais to lock him in there they are the keys to the coffin. i will need three people to help me lock the coffin as well one person per weapon an they must not hold darkness in there heart or hate when we do lock the coffin. so any ideas of how to get these items? it is possible he will use all who were affected, by the artifact to stop me or anyone else from putting him in the coffin . so we have to come up with a plan if i fell i need to know that three of you will be able to do this. ~ Trap Aries, a God of War. ~ There was definitely going to be danger at hand. Zhuk was prepared and willing to fight to the death if it meant saving everyone else, but the other part of the message had bothered him. ~ One person per weapon and they must not hold darkness in their heart. ~ It was this part that made him realize that he could not do the fighting. Just the fact that he had always been a soldier of one kind or another, relishing in the death of his enemies when required, meant a certain darkness in his heart. No, this would keep him from defeating this Aries.
“Okay, we will search for these weapons as well. With this new information, it stands to reason that you two doctors and Grace will have to trap this Aries. Who else amongst us would have the purest hearts compared to you thre. You are all healers and helpers. You have vowed to save life, not destroy it. Remember, you are trapping him…not killing him.”
After Zhuk made that last announcement, everyone had stood in silence for a moment. Dr. Mercy, Grace, and Healer T’Val just looked at each other, processing what this meant.
Stuart noted T'Val's discovery of the Colonel's infection and the lack therof from the other Andorian, but the Colonel refused to let them try their hypothesis.
Things were happening quickly. After Gremmel had secured himself behind the forcefield, along with the controls of the artifact, they were led to a chamber that apparently housed thousands of lifeforms.
The missing crewmembers were to be in here somewhere. Stuart pulled out his tricorder to start his scans. Then Grace received more news from the Nevada, relayed it to the Colonel, and he in turn made a final announcement that just had everyone speechless.
~Us doctors...fighting?~ The reasoning behind it was sound, but it was not something Stuart was prepared for. T'Val was going to be involved as well. Stuart did not like this one bit. For a moment, everyone stood there in silence.
Gremmel lay groogily in the chair. He could see that the blue skinned one and the others were still in the control room. He was passing in and out of consciousness but something one of them said caused a tremor of panic- now he knew what was happening. He struggled to lower the forcefield, but couldnt muster the strength. Instead he reached out to Grace with his mind
"Grace, sooory about... about field... no trust left in me, no energy. Care... must take care. Ares is an Elder - cast out elder. Rebel. Undoes our work. Here to stop our helping Randicore. He must have damaged the pacifier, must have poisoned me... He is dangerous, you must stop him and fixxxxxxxxxxxxx..........." Again he blacked out.
xena spoke now that we have that out of the way once we have the weapons. the weapons will tell who is pure of heart they will glow of white light it will mark you with a glowing light it will surroud you like a warm blanket you will glow until the deed is done. an if you are not pure of heart it will glow blue light an you feel a cold chill that only be for the a second or so.
at least thats what Hephaestus told me. once we have the weapons i want each person to hold one of weapons so we will know who will beable to lock aries in Hephaestus coffin
white light means you have a pure heart blue means you do not have a pure heart
remember i need three who are pure of heart those who are not will be helping me take on aries the god of war we will need to push him in an then we will need pull the lid over him an hold the lid down while the others who are pure of heart will lock aries in the Hephaestus coffin.
it will not be easy but if will all work together we will be able to suceed.
list of thing we will need.
Sword Chakram Sais HEPHAESTUS coffin
three people pure of heart to hold the weapons
an to lock him in the HEPHAESTUS coffin
the rest of us will take on aries god of war to push him into the HEPHAESTUS coffin
i will get him to undo what he has done to the artifact an help the others push him in the coffin.
any questions?
"Colonel, Gremmel has just contacted me. It would appear Aries is an Elder, but had rebelled against the system and poisioned Gremmel. Gremmel has apologized to me, but I am more concerned for his safety."
Zhuk was about to interrupt but Grace held up her hand and continued, "Jira has also contacted me. This Xena says that the three people each need a special weapon. The weapons are: a sword, a Chakram and something called a Sais. We also need an HEPHAESTUS coffin. I am certain of what a sword is but the others are out of my league. The three also need to each hold one of the weapons and if the weapons turn white then the three are pure of heart, blue means they are not."
<Zhuk>
"I can't say I am thrilled with our choices. One other thing Jira told me, Xena needs to be here as well. I will try and contact this Xena, telepathically. For some odd reason, this Aries and Xena seem familiar, at least the names do."
<Zhuk>
"Okay, here goes nothing!" Grace closed her eyes and began searching with her mind for the mind of Xena.
T'Val had edged closer to the forcefield which appeared to be surrounding, if not protecting Gremmel. It irked her that they couldn't do anything to help him for as long as the forcefield was up, and as long as that was up he was in grave danger.
~Gremmel if you hear me, you need to lower the forcefield. There is three doctors here that can help you~ she thought, staring directly at the alien ~we are here to help you, please lower the forcefield~
She looked up and exchanged a worried glance with Mercy, but shot the two Andorians and the human female a stoic glance. Only then did she realize what had been said about fighting and to be pure of heart. Generally, doctors were pure of heart, as they often risked their own lives to save others.
She didn't like the Andorian Colonel's suggestions either. ~Yade, find Theel'zinn and have him knock some sense into his master. Assist him if he requires it~ The blue firelizard had hatched before the green had, thus Yade would obey Theel'zinn if he commanded her. But not if T'Val didn't approve of the command, fortunately.
Slowly, T'Val walked up to Mercy. "I do not like this," she whispered at him staying very close to him. "I will not take a weapon at hand, I took an oath to do no harm. Picking up a weapon will break that oath."
Jira looked at Ariennye. He couldn’t understand what she was talking about. It was obvious to him, and surely everyone else, that Ares, like Xena was an Elder. But all Xena was talking about now was some ‘Mount Olympus’ and she kept calling them gods. The trill wondered whether this illness, this madness that the pacifier spread could affect her, or whether the affect that it was having on Ariennye was possibly making her less coherent. As he was thinking this however, Lt Cmdr Talla came up close beside him.
- “Captain, I have been doing a bit of research, and these people that she is speaking of. They are gods from ancient times on Earth. Ares was the Greek god of war. It might be possible that these ‘Elders’ once attempted to bring peace to earth, and attempted it by imitating our gods, or possibly our gods were created when we saw them. Either way, Ares failed in his mandate. Power must have gone to his head, and he didn’t bring peace, but promoted war instead.” - “Sounds probable. So we have a rebel elder, a slightly mad elder, and Gremmel. Have we made any progress on those items she mentioned?” - “Well a sword is easily replicated. A chakram is basically a flat metal ring with a sharp outer edge from 5 to 12 inches in diameter. And a sai, well the technical description is a blade with 8 facets, tending to be about 12 to 15 inches long.” - “Right, has the computer got us any of them?” - “Yes. But these are ancient Greek weapons, and although it is quite possible that they are the only means of killing this elder, it may just be that Xena is recalling ‘the old days’.” - “Okay. And the bit about the heart?” - “Is quite likely true. I can’t explain it, but they are likely to have some protection against ‘evil’.” - “I don’t like this. It is all too mythical and unsure.”
The martian nodded at him in sympathy, and returned to his seat.
- “Okay team. We now have but one problem. We can’t contact the away team to tell them any of this.” - “But you already are. Do you not know it?” Ariennye spoke, Xena’s tones ringing out through her mouth. “Your soul is conversing with the telepath, telling her all of what we are saying.” - “My soul?” - “The other one within you. The one that has more years.” - “Jira?”
Ariennye nodded slowly. Harrias rose his eyebrows in surprise. Well, that certainly solved one problem.
- “Do we know where they are? Could we simply beam these weapons directly to them, even without being able to contact them properly?” - “I believe so Captain.” - “Do it.”
(O.O.C I'm going to ease up the confusion that seems to have arisen regarding where I am.)
When Melain awoke the headache was gone, but she felt an odd euphoria creep over her. It seeme to her that her immune system must have conquered the virus. Melain hated being confined and having to be watched over by a computer program. This wasn't right, other people where infected and they where enot being treated like this, she was better, she should be released. Of course Tom would never accept this. ..."Computer end EMH program"
Tom looked up, startled and angry. "hey! you can't..." he vanished.
"Computer release forcefield aroound biobed one. Command code Lorre 232 Alpha J Major, confirm." The forcefield vanished, they hadn't voided her command code yet, but she couldn't stay on the ship. A biosuite had been left on the floor during Rachel's flurry to get organised, Melain slipped it on "prepare to beam me over to the artifact... energise"
When Melain appeared the rest of the away team didn't think anything of it. She told them she came to help, and they assumed it was authorized. She wondered suspciously if Grace knew, but was hesitant to pursue the matter further.
After listening intently to the others she offered her input. "If using this weapons is the only way to stop the virus, then as doctors we must treat them as we would any medical instrument. Even a hypospray can cause harm in the wrong hands. We will save millions, if not more by doing this."
