Brelev was rather confused about how exactly these Nanites where destroying the Yorktown, but to be on the same side she insured they where stored in a force-fielded area away from anything technically delicate. Once she had completed that she went to replicate a cup of tea, but was interupted when the doors to sickbay opened to reveal Salek and Cadet Nack as well as Commander Hope who was holding her hand awkwardly, it had been splinted rather crudly. Accompanying them was a cadet Brelev did not recougnised, although his collar suggested he was either in science or medical.
Salek had S'reena sit down and set to fixing her hand, Brelev was not sure if she wanted to know how it was injured. The two cadets headed in Brelev's direction.
"I suspect you are interested in hearing about my investgation into the Illness Cadet Nack and...." Brelev had not been on board long enough to learn how many other cadets where on board and what there name's where.
"Dopplepunkt Mame. I'm training in Medical as well." The cadet replied.
"I was under the impression we only had one medical cadet." Brelev commented airly. "Who is your instructer?"
"Officially Commander Kalen, however I have seen very little of him. He must be a busy man." Cadet Dopplepunkt replied.
"He is, Why don't you follow me around for awhile? You'll learn more about being a doctor from a CMO then from a scientist." Brelev dedided, she was feeling well enough to take on some responsibilty. "Alright cadets, to sum up what I did to find out the cause of the mutation. I ran a small experiment using some slugs from my office, not the best creature to represent a humanoid, but better then anything else on hand. I infected them with the illness and tried out a few things to see what would make them sicker. Turns out only one thing does, transporting. The reason I did not immediatly suspect this myself is that I was transported several times after becoming ill, however I have a hyper-immuine system and that would have counter-acted the transporters effect. This leaves one question, can either of you geuss what that might be?"

"I... I... was preoccupied with what happened in the Holodeck, sir. My apologies." Nack would have hit himself if he wasn't busy fumbling for another tricorder. How could he have missed something as obvious as a broken arm.
...and now his tunic? The Starfleet uniform was a bit large for him, but it was hardly a tunic! The Commander's choice of words hinted at some level of disapproval. Nack forgot for a moment that Salek never disapproved. He only pointed out an illogical event. Nack removed his "tunic". Luckily, he had listened to his mother's advice and didn't leave home without a pair of clean undergarments.
<Later, on the Hanson>
Nack quickly replied to Brelev.
"I believe the question would be, if this was a parasite, how come our biofilters didn't detect this?"
Nack stood silent hoping his answer was what Brelev was soliciting. Fred chimed in before Brelev could confirm or deny Nack's correctness.
<Cadet Fred>OOC: Note my LOA in the LOA thread. Use my character as you wish while I'm gone. Just don't get me into too much trouble

to tell the truth, Max wasn't too comfortable with routing all the impulse power to the interlocks. Actually, he wasn't comfortable with it at all.
"K'lask," i could use a hand." he called out to the petty officer.
"what do you need help with?"
"You're a theoretical specialist, right?"
"Yes. However, I'm working as a computer maintenance technician right now."
"Well, I need some theory. While I have a plan to get the warp core working again, I don't want to reactivated it until we know what took it offline in the first place. I want you to figure out what might do that from an engineering standpoint. Take anybody not directly associated with the repairs on my authority to help you out. I need to shield against this happening a second time."
"yes sir."
"and you figure this out, you'll gt PO. 1st class, If I can wrangle it."
"thank you."
"no, thank you."
Max set to work. it wasn't easy, admittly, but the power was soon routed to the interlocks, despite the computer's warnings about rerouting power like he was doing.
"And I don't know what I'm doing." He grumbled. "Smith to k'lask. figured anything out yet?"

Admiral Drew came up to the bridge before Commander Reynolds told Crystal just what had happened while she was in sickbay, but she had figured out that the cadets had gone on an away team with Salek and Commander Hope.
Not that knowing really was going to affect her actions, since Crystal just followed Admiral Drew's orders in trying to get the Yorktown in the tractor beam. She managed to get the computer console to listen to her, which was harder than she had initially thought it would be. But at some point she got the message from the computer. “Admiral, we have the Yorktown stabilized in our tractor beam,” Crystal said, then waited for the shuttle to dock with the Hanson before she could set a course for Starbase Conqueror.
It didn't take that long after that for the shuttle to be securely docked and the Yorktown to be ready to be dragged along behind the Hanson, so Crystal prepared the ship for warp. “Setting course for Conqueror, warp 7.3,” Crystal informed the Admiral, piloting the ship to do just that.

“Good,” Drew said in response to Crystal as he took his seat, “engage!”
As Crystal’s hands flew across the control panel, the Hanson jumped to warp speed in a blaze of light. Drew watched the forward viewscreen as the stars zoomed past the screen, blurring into silvery lines.
Satisfied everything was now ok on the bridge, Drew rose from his chair and walked back towards the turbolift, calling out to Jason Reynolds that he had the watch.
“Sickbay,” Drew told the computer, as he stepped into the lift and felt the familiar tug of gravity as the life sped down the shaft at high velocity.
A few minutes later, he was walking into a crowded sickbay, Doctors Brelev and Salek were fussing over S’reena and Cadet Nack was busy assisting. The other Cadet’s were a little roughed up, and all their uniforms were dirty, but they seemed to be fine.
“Welcome back,” Drew told the gathered crowd as he walked over towards the biobed S’reena was being treated on, “another injury for our intrepid First Officer?”
“It seems to be a habit of mine,” S’reena replied, her teeth gritted through the pain as Salek and Brelev treated her.
“It certainly does,” Drew agreed, “you will be pleased to know that you and your team did the job though. We have the Yorktown in a tractor beam, and are en route back to Starbase.”
“Good,” was all S’reena managed to say, she was clearly exhausted.
“I’ll let you get some rest,” Drew said, walking over towards the Cadets, “and you all need to get yourselves cleaned up, graduation will be taking place once we arrive back at the base.”
“Aye Admiral!” the youngsters beamed, and with a nod of permission from Brelev, they hurried out of sickbay to start getting ready.
“I’ll see you all on the holodeck,” Drew said to his three officers as he followed the Cadets out of sickbay.
Walking back to the bridge, Drew reflected that it had been a challenging mission, perhaps one of the most challenging of his command so far on the Hanson. But, as he was coming to expect, his crew had gotten through it with valour. Returning to the bridge, Drew took his seat in the centre, and watched as the Hanson sped home.
OOC:
And that ladies and gents is what they call a wrap. You are all welcome to post resolving any outstanding storylines and such, but the mission itself is now finished. I will be discussing the details of graduation with Commander Hope later tonight, and graduation should follow.

After he was done treating Commander Hope's arm, Salek diverted his attention to Nack, Dopplepunkt and Brelev. He noticed that they were not exactly any closer to a cure than they were before so he decided to offer his advice.
"Cadet Nack, have you seen the latest edition of the Federation Medical journal", Salek asked
"Well yes, I had the chance to read only some of the titles", Nack said
"Therefore is it logical to assume you saw the research on a cure that stimulates the immune system allowing it to defeat virtually any form of a parasitic infection?", Salek said
"Yes, i remember something about it, but it said that it was not tested on people yet", Nack responded
"I have the highest confidence in Starfleet Medical, having served one term as the head of it.", Salek said, "We shall use this to cure the senior staff who has fallen ill of this disease", Salek said
"You can start replicating the compound", Salek responded, "Mr. Dopplepunkt, contact the transporter rooms and have them flush the bio-filters and re-sterilize them.", Salek said as Nack and Dopplepunkt went about their duties
--Later that day--
Everyone was gathered around S’reena’s bio bed as she was chosen as the person on whom the treatment will be tested on. They injected her with the cure 30 minutes ago and everyone was now waiting to see the results.
"It's working, it's working", Nack started to yell and jump around as the scan results showed that the parasites infecting her were dying
"Cadet Nack, congratulations", Salek said, "You have just proven what all the research papers on this drug were indicating all along and you are the first person to use this drug on people", Salk said
"Now you can go and inject everyone else who has been infected with the drug", Salek said as Nack and Dopplepunkt went on their way to inject everyone who was infected with the cure
Salek turned to S'reena who was still lying on the bio bed, "Once again you have prevailed against an illness commander", Salek said, "And this time your name will be entered in the medical books as the first person on who a new drug has been tested on", Salek said

Kiara sit in the shuttle waiting for it to arrive back at the ship, she looked over to see how Commander Hope was doing, but did not bother her as figured she wanted to be left alone, once they finally made it back on the Hanson they officers were sent throught a Decamination process, At first Kiara was a little hesitent about it all but accepted it as she knew it was the only way she was getting back on the ship. Once they had made their way through the team split up with nack, salek and cmdr Hope heading to sickbay and the others where they needed to go, she made her way down to engineering to check in. OOC: just a little post to wrap up my part in the sim.

the ship flew at warp, the interlocks supported by the impulse energy. max was in his office, talking with Perry officer 1st class K'lask.
"So you think it was some sort of subspace field that sopped us?"
"not exactly. there is a strange twist in normal space due to a bubble of sorts in subspace. when we and the Yorktown hit it, were were both damaged. the Yorktown hit the dead center, resulting in a harder angle. we only glanced off, but that put stress on the interlocks, not to mention other parts of the ship."
"I think I get the idea. Now how do we guard against this happening in the future?"
"Well, it should be safe to travel the area on impulse. It's not large, so you could go around it as well."
"If we did wind up going through- how could we prevent damage?"
They went on talking, both satisfied at a mission well completed.

As he was leaving the Yorktown, Nack was busy thinking to himself. Borg nanonprobes fetch a pretty hefty price. It was too bad these weren't Borg. He knew of some... associates ... that would give a nice amount of gold-pressed latinum for some disabled borg probes.
With med-kit in hand, he entered the Hanson. The Yorktown was already in tow as the Hanson made its way toward Starbase Conquerer.
Nack administered this mystery cure according to instruction which Salek seemed all-to-eager to administer. Excited to see it work, Nack made a bit of a scene. After he calmed down, he realized that Salek's logic was a little faulty. "How can this one case be proof?". Nack decided not to pursue it, and when he went off duty, he went to the holodeck to unwind with his favorite program "The Everlasting Casino". It was a fairly passive story line, with a lot of opportunity for personal interaction.
The rest of the ride back to the Conquerer was uneventful. Nack spent the time in the holodeck, or searching the database for possible assignments after his graduation.
