The bridge rattled as the Hanson went through the gravitational wells, Brandy stood his ground and tried to keep himself upright. The sensors beeped suddenly just as we pulled through the turbulence. "Sir, an unidentified ship on our starboard side." *It's just what I feared, a weapon*, Brandy thought to himself. Another set of beeps went off on the tactical panel, his scans were now complete. "Sir." He called out to anyone who would listen, "I have completed my scans, the rift has residual Isolytic particles around it. Which means a weapon caused this vortex." The ship on the sensors began to move toward the Hanson, Admiral Drew asked for a tactical analysis. "Sir," Brandy said as he feverishly pushed buttons over his console, "The ship is of unknown construction, but it seems to be a combat vessel of some type, 15 disruptor's, and 5 torpedo launchers, primary, and secondary shielding, with a high intensity structural integrity field." Just then Commander Hope reached the bridge and sat next to the Admiral, after a few moments the commander called Brandy over. "You are injured," she then concluded, and beckoned Brandy to step down to the command center. "Cadet Tyrron, please continue your reports," she called at the Klingon cadet, Soaringstar, assist him." the two cadets quickly took brandy's place, ready for what might lie ahead. She then returned her attention to the marine cadet. "Mister Brandy, please escort Admiral Drew to sickbay, and make sure you're gentle with him...he's an old man now."Brandy looked surprised and a little angered, he thought especially with an enemy vessel barring down on them he should surely be on the bridge! A second later after he regained his control he realized that there was already a security cadet on the bridge, and that it was really, only his job if they were not there. "Yes Ma'am." Brandy said as he stooped down next to the admiral to receive him, they both made there way to the turbolift and for sickbay. =/\=Brandy to sickbay, Prepare to receive Admiral Drew, I can't really explain what is wrong, but he........Looks old."=/\= Brandy's eyes rolled around after he realized what he must have just sounded like. After he was acknowledged Brandy concentrated on getting the Admiral to sickbay, as soon as he walked his slumped commander through those doors, he was swept away by what he thought were nurses. (he couldn't really tell just from the blue flash that passed him. "Am I needed here anymore." Brandy looked around to see if anyone even heard him. "No." He received from someone in the crowd that now surrounded the Admiral. *Good, there are more important things for a marine do be doing in a combat situation, not carying around patients, thats a medics job* Brandy thought to himself even though he knew as a marine his first duty was to protect his commander, it must have been the young inexperience that was talking. Brandy quickly made his way back to the bridge, his mind raced as to the possible situations that had unfolded there in his absence, he also wondered if anyone even took his thoughts on the temporal vortex seriously, soon he would find out. <Tag anyone on bridge>OOC: Sorry for the lack of posts, I have been in a bit of writers block, especially with the situation being the way it was. There wasn't too much for us combat oriented cadets with just a vortex, so I added a little bit for us to do, Hope no one minds ;D This should get GOOD! (evil grin:))

Joan realized that the admiral had changed to rapidly, and she wondered if it would be just him. She continues her scans, and reports about the latest findings from the probe, which isn't much at the moment.
"Cadet, why did we fall into a gravity well like that? I thought I told you to make sure navigations would know where they are, since they couldn't see them. Make sure it doesn't happen again." She says trying to make sure he knows the error of his ways, but trying not to come on too strong.

(OOC: Hannah, the ship we're rescuing is the Matthew, not Matheson)
"Glad to hear it," Noah said, after hearing the Cadets' report. "Barnes, begin generating the warp bubble," he called over to the Power systems specialist.
The short, stocky engineer leaned over to a console. "Initiating warp bubble...now," he announced.
"We're moving!" Lieutenant Bates called out.
"What direction?" Noah asked, knowing that movement wasn't the critical part, but rather the direction of it.
"Parallel to the vortex, fortunately," Mike replied.
Noah now turned to the Cadets. "Alright, we're approaching the Matthew. I need you two to keep an eye on the various systems to keep in that way"

=/\=Brandy to sickbay, Prepare to receive Admiral Drew, I can't really explain what is wrong, but he........Looks old."=/\=
"Acknowledged, Cadet. We'll be ready for him. Sickbay out," Jason replied, and closed the channel. "Alright, everybody," he called out, "we've got the Admiral coming. And from the reports, it's the same problem I've noticed on the Matthew."
"But I thought Ops was generating a tachyon field," Michael said, coming into Main Sickbay from the Med Lab.
"We are," Jason replied. "We'll see what's happening."
Rachel and Matai came over as well, and when Brandy came in supporting Drew, all four of them descended upon him, taking over from the Cadet, assisting him onto a biobed.
"Am I needed here anymore?" Brandy asked as they lifted him onto the biobed.
"No," Jason called back, and very soon heard the door open and close again. "Alright, we've got to figure out what's happening here," Jason said, as Michael began scanning him.
"I'm reading a broken arm, osteoporosis, atrophied muscles, hypertension....all signs of old age. But this should be happening to a man in his 60s. The Admiral's only 45," Michael said, shocked.
"Computer, run an Advanced Cellular Senescence Scan on Admiral Drew, cross-reference birthdate with Bio and compare," Jason ordered.
"Working," the computer responded.
"While it's doing that, let's work on treating the symptoms, until we know the cause," Jason said, and dermal regenerators were brought over.
A few minutes later, the computer announced. "Scan complete. Admiral Drew is 20 years older than his recorded birthdate."
"Aging just like the crew of the Matthew," Jason said, looking down at the pained expression on the Admiral's face.
"But why just him and not us?" Matai asked.
"Must be because of the Admiral's age," Michael responded. "We're not being affected as much because we're younger, and the tachyon field is in place."
Jason tapped his commbadge. "Sickbay to Bridge. It appears the Admiral is aging like the crew of the Matthew. He's gained 20 years in the past 24 hours."
<Tag S'reena>
"Understood. Black out," he said, and closed the channel.
After they were done treating the symptoms, Jason cleared away the others, and looked down at Drew. "How are you feeling, Admiral?"

noNick sat at his post, when Admiral Drew came onto the bridge and asked him, “How long until we will have contact with the Matthew?"
He tapped a command into his board, "Twenty minutes at present speed, sir."
Drew nodded in understanding, “Wll they be able to do that?”
OOC: I'm sorry, but I don't understand this question. I'll leave it blank until it's explained, then I fill it in. Thanks.
“Thank you,” Drew replied.
What happened next was completely unexpected: the ship began shaking violentely, and Nick had to hold onto his station with all his might to prevent himself from being thrown to the deck. He noticed a few others fell over, and medics rushed on, and helped out where needed. Then an aged looking Admiral Drew was taken off the bridge with injuries.
Nick began searching out the reason why he hadn't seen the gravity well coming when his instructor, Commander McCormick, began to give him a light scolding: "Cadet, why did we fall into a gravity well like that? I thought I told you to make sure Navigation would know where they are, since they couldn't see them. Make sure it doesn't happen again." She said.
He tapped a few more things out on his board before answering. "Ma'am, I don't know what happened. I had put in a command for the computer to scan for those things, and notify me when they were found. I was watching out on my own, but that was for just in case I couldn't catch them while following other duties. But I was never notified and I never saw it on my own." He paused a moment with a puzzled look on his face. "It's like it popped out of nowhere..." He shook his head to clear the confusion, "But it won't happen again, Ma'am. You have my word." He returned to his work, his resolve doubled. *I don't want more people to be injured because I made a mistake.*
As he was working, he vaguely rememberd the Marine Cadet mentioning something about a weapon. *A weapon?* He pulled up some of the scans of it, making sure to not neglect his other duties. He wanted to see what was up, and if he could think of anything to do.

ooc: please don;t mind the format of this post too much, it is used as an example for an alternative format of posting.
::S'reena turned half-way in her chair to face Brandy as he came back onto the bridge.::
[S'reena Hope] "Cadet Brandy"
::She briefly saw annoyance flicker across the young marine's face.
[S'reena Hope] ::Watching him come down to the command level again:: ~he's got every right to be annoyed~
"Did the admiral get to sickbay all right?"
::At his nod, she smiled slightly.
[S'reena Hope] "Thank you cadet. Now, I believe you had some idea using tachyons? I'm not entirely sure if I heard you correctly, but I'd like you to explain to me what you'd like us to do."
::The Romulan rubbed her temples as she had a massive headache coming up. She stretched uncomfortably, and gratefully accepted a pillow an older crewman was handing her, unasked.::
[S'reena Hope] ::stuffing the pillow behind her back:: "Thank you crewman, that helps."
::As she brushed a hand through her long hair, she noticed the cadet wasn;t talking, but merely staring at her.::
[S'reena Hope] ::somewhat annoyed:: "I know cadet, I am going grey. I shouldn't be as I age slower than the rest but I'm certain my pregnancy is a factor here. Now about that idea of yours, could you please repeat what you had in mind, and fill the respective departments in on what you need them to do to accomplish this?"
<Brandy>
::Just as the marine cadet finished, Doctor Black's voice resounded over the ship's intercom.::
[Jason Black] "Sickbay to Bridge. It appears the Admiral is aging like the crew of the Matthew. He's gained 20 years in the past 24 hours."
[S'reena Hope] "Acknowledged doctor, is he healthy otherwise? He seemed rather fragile when I had cadet Brandy deliver him to sickbay."
::pausing::
[S'reena Hope] "Doctor I would like you to give every senior staff member, as well as our cadets a brief check-up to see whether they are showing any effects of hyper-aging. I know I am showing effects, as Ive been getting rather curious stares from the bridge crew."

Hannah and Shelby monitored the systems. Hannah kept an eye on the deflector and the warp bubble it generating. She turned to Shelby who was also monitoring ships systems. She turned to him, he seemed to look older to her, but she dismissed it as her mind-playing trick on her.
“So how are you finding on board a star ship from being at the academy doing all those simulations?” Hannah asked him, “I’m finding it different, but glad I did all those simulations at the academy, it prepared me for it.”
<Shelby>
Hannah turned back to her station and released that the vortex was actually draining the warp bubble. She tried re-modulating it to counter the effect and transferred some reserve power to restore the energy lost. She looked back at him, she was certain he looked slightly older, but she tried to forget about it thinking that she was just imaging things. She decided to ask him another question.
“When did you decide that you wanted to become an engineer and join Starfleet?” she asked him.
<Shelby>
Hannah turned back to her console, the warp bubble was still loosing power and she trying reconfiguring it again to try to stop the power loss.

"Acknowledged doctor, is he healthy otherwise? He seemed rather fragile when I had cadet Brandy deliver him to sickbay," S'reena responded.
"Otherwise, except for showing classic age-related problems, he's fine. He'll want to take it easy for a bit, but he'll come out ok I think."
"Doctor I would like you to give every senior staff member, as well as our cadets a brief check-up to see whether they are showing any effects of hyper-aging. I know I am showing effects, as Ive been getting rather curious stares from the bridge crew."
"Yes ma'am, I'll get right on it," Jason responded, and closed the channel.
Michael came over. "You're first," he said to Jason.
"For what, a check-up?" he asked.
"Yep. You're one of the Senior Staff, and the most critical in this case. You're not likely to age much, but we still should know," the Asst CMO responded.
"Very well," Jason said, lying down on a biobed. "Computer, run the test on me as was just run on Admiral Drew."
"Acknowledged....working," the computer replied.
After a few minutes of lying more still than Jason would have prefered, the computer beeped. "Test complete. Doctor Black is 6 months older than recorded."
"Then it's affecting everyone, even the youngest members of the crew," Jason said sitting up.
"I would suggest first testing the oldest and youngest members of the remaining Senior Staff," Michael responded.
"Right," Jason responded. "Joan and Commander Bates." He tapped his commbadge. "Sickbay to Commanders McCormick and Bates. Please report to Sickbay, I need to check if either of you have aged more than you should have."

As Hannah and Shelby where monitoring the systems Shelby noticed Hannah looking up at him and making a rather unfamiliar face.He wanted to ask her what exactly she was making the face for but then she asked him a question.
“So how are you finding on board a star ship from being at the academy doing all those simulations?” Hannah asked him"
"Well I'm finding it fun but extremely strenuous there is a lot of stuff that just couldn't be covered in the academy" Shelby said.
After that I began looking at how the power is being distributed through out the ship.After a minute or two he had seen more power going to the warp bubble.Then out of the clear blue sky Hannah asked Shelby another question.But just be for that he seen her look at him and make that same strange new face at him.
“When did you decide that you wanted to become an engineer and join Star fleet?” Hannah asked him.
"Well my parents where Engineers and I've always liked to fix things so I guess it just was apparent." Shelby answered her.
Just after that Hannah looked back at her Console and started working vigorously.Then Shelby decided to ask her a question.
"So why have you been giving me the funny looks every once and a wile?" Shelby asked

Jack was at the science station working on a way to detect the Gravity weels better when the ship was shook violently and he was thrown to the deck. He could not help but think that they ned more chairs up here. He got up and moved to the helm a little slower then he wanted but his knee was giving him a great deal of pain. ~Must be the fall,~ he thought as he sat behind his Instructor. With some impressive manuvering the commander had them clear of the Gravity well and gave control back to Jack. Jack moved and took the seat and made sure that the ship stayed clear of any more gravity wells.
Jack glanced over his shoulder at the comotion with the Admiral and was suprised to see him looking a good deal older. Infact alot of the senior staff was looking older. Jack refocused his work and stayed away from the wells. He heard the report on the admiral come from sickbay and he started trying to think of something that might help save the crew from the temporal effects this vortex seems to have. He remembered doing a report about something like this in his Temporal Mechanicks class but he could not remember what he had written.
<OOC: sorry for limited post, Thanksgiving and stuff with school and such has taken priority. will be doing better now however.>

Hannah thought about how to answer Shelby question. She wasn’t certain if it was just her tired mind playing tricks on her, but she decided to come out and just say.
“You seem to look slightly older, it might just be my mind playing tricks on me,” she said to him.
<Shelby>
Her console bleeped and she looked down at it the vortex was continuing to draw warp power from the warp bubble and her re-modulating was having little effect. She transferred more reserve power into the warp bubble.
“Jebadia, have you got any ideas on how to reduce or stop the vortex from draining power from the warp bubble?” Hannah asked him showing him her reading and a graph of the power drain, “I have tried re-modulating and this has only reduced the power drain slightly.”

After Brandy had returned to the bridge things were very busy not only with trying to solve to problem with the vortex and the Mathew, but he could see Soaringstar and Tyrron at the tactical station, as they worked quickly to prepare the ship for a possible attack by the unknown vessel. "Cadet Brandy" Commander Hope said, who was now turned in her seat to face Brandy. Brandy walked over to the commanders chair. After a few moments of conversation and a pillow put between her back Brandy knew time was running out to prepare a good defense if the unknown ship was to attack. "Now about that idea of yours, could you please repeat what you had in mind, and fill the respective departments in on what you need them to do to accomplish this?" With that Brandy just thought that commander Hope was going to have the tactical cadets deal with the incoming ship. "Yes ma'am." Brandy said as he moved off and came next to Soaringstar and Tyrron. After calling up a few records and some active scans of the anomaly, Brandy went to the back wall of the bridge and sat at a science console, he tapped his comm badge. "Brandy to Commander Bates, I have been instructed by Commander Hope to assist in protecting the ship from the temporal affects of the vortex.....I have an idea, I have done some research with Tachyons, I believe if we could use the main deflector dish to emit massive amounts of Tachyons into an existing shield bubble, this should disrupt the temporal distortion inside the bubble." Brandy repositioned himself on his chair as if he had payed more attention to the panel in front of him. "Now, I know that you are going to say that our shield bubble will not be strong enough to hold that much Tachyon radiation that will be produced, so I also believe that if we use the shield emitters to remodulate and emit a beta-Tachyon pulse and then project a series of anti-proton beams into the shield bubble, that will increase our shield strength by a factor of ten. Any radiation can be dealt with by coordinating with Dr. Black for inoculations, what do you think Commander?" Brandy sat an waited for the reply, he could not help himself as he thought about the approaching vessel. <Commander Bates>OOC: If anyone would like to see the research on Tachyons I did, or maybe it will inspire other thoughts I found a great website with all that stuff. It is at this link. Beta-Tachyons= memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Beta-tachyonTachyons= memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Tachyon

As Noah wheeled his chair around Engineering, he was finding himself having more and more trouble. Before, the chair just felt like it needed a little lubricant, now his arms almost burned from moving around.
"Sickbay to Commanders McCormick and Bates. Please report to Sickbay, I need to check if either of you have aged more than you should have," came Doctor Black's voice.
"Acknowledged, Doctor, on my way," Bates responded. He turned to Lieutenant Bates, who was standing near him. "Well, looks like I'm headed to Sickbay. I even feel like I'm aging."
"You are," Mike said quite bluntly. "Most of your hair is gray."
Bates sighed, and pulled out the remote control for his chair, and was just about to wheel himself out of Sickbay when the comm went off, and Cadet Brandy explained his idea.
"Sounds good, Cadet," Noah responded. "Coordinate with Lieutenant Bates, I'm headed to Sickbay."
With that, Noah guided his chair out of Sickbay. By the time he reached Sickbay, even his fingers were sore from controlling the chair. "Well, Doc, I can definitely tell you that it seems I'm aging."
"Yes, I can see that," Doctor Black responded. The younger man showed no signs of aging, but was also 20 years younger. "Computer, run the same aging test of Commander Bates and compare. Hold still, Commander," he said.
"Working..." the Computer responded.
"So, you say you're aging," Jason commented. "How can you tell?"
"Well, Lieutenant Bates reported that I am almost entirely gray-haired now. And it's getting harder to move my chair around. I used the motor to get myself here."
"I see. Yes, you are almost entirely gray, with a white hair or two in fact," Black noted.
"Wonderful..." Noah said sarcastically.
"Test complete," the Computer responded. "Commander Bates is 20 years older than recorded." Noah's eyes widened at that.
"Interesting," Black said. "The same aging as Admiral Drew. Granted, you are the same age chronologically, but I'd hoped lifestyle and habits would have an influence on this aging."
-----------------------Meanwhile, back in Main Engineering--------------------------
Lieutenant Bates turned to the Cadets as the Chief left. "Your plan is sound, Cadet Brandy," Mike said over the comm. "We'll let you know when we're ready down here."
Mike went over to the two Cadets. "We've got another job to do. We're creating a temporal barrier between us and the anamoly. Stevenson, I want you to work on remodulating the shield emitters to emit a Beta-tachyon pulse, and Shelby, I need you to program the deflector to emit a tachyon pulse, with an intermittent series of anti-proton beams. A bit of a challenging task, but I think we can do it."

Joan hears that she is summoned to sickbay, and doesn't feel like going down there right now. She wonders what they could be thinking, and just sighs.
"Cadet, I will be going down to sickbay right now. The station is yours, and if Capps comes back, tell him he is to help you run the station. You can decide where he goes, and please be fair." She says leaving before he can reply. The turbolift ride is quiet, and she realize that the good doctor might pull her off of this shift to get some sleep, which she thinks is over rated right now. She knows her cadets can handle ops, but she wants to feel like she is being helpful. Sleeping just isn't being helpful. As she steps off the turbolift she finds several people getting on.
She passes them quickly not saying a word to any of them. She hurries down the hall as fast as her body will allow, and she remembers the last time she slept, ate, and showered. She wondered if she was starting to smell, but she hadn't noticed, and was too tired to care. As she enters sickbay she notices Commander Bates is there. He looks shocked, and she wonders why, but doesn't say anything to him.
"Okay, Doctor, I'm ready for my close up, or whatever you need from me. Please make it quick, I'm in the middle of several scans." She says sounding really irrated.
(Tag Black)
"I see, alright then, lets get this over with." She says going over to the necessary area.

Jason stayed quiet for a moment to let the reality of what he just told Bates sink in. While he was doing that, Joan came into Sickbay.
"Okay, Doctor, I'm ready for my close up, or whatever you need from me. Please make it quick, I'm in the middle of several scans." She said sounding really irrated.
"No problem," Jason said, "I've got about a dozen more people to take care of anyway." He turned back to Bates. "You can return to Engineering, Commander." Bates then proceeded to wheel out.
Jason turned back to Joan. "I need to perform a scan on you. The crew is aging, the Admiral, Commander Bates and I have tested positive on that. You're the younger Senior Staff member, so I wanted to check how it affected you. You just have to lay down on the biobed," he said, gesturing towards the nearest empty one.
"I see, alright then, lets get this over with," she said, laying down where he indicated.
"Computer, run the aging test on Commander McCormick," Jason ordered. "Hold still, Joan." He then leaned against the wall, rather tired from the double-shift, maybe even triple, that he'd pulled.
"So how much have you aged?" Joan asked without turning her head.
"6 months," Jason said, sighing. "I've estimated that you'll probably have done so by only a few months."
A moment later, the computer responded to that comment. "Test complete. Commander McCormick is 1 month older than recorded."
"Well, we know the equipment's working," Jason commented. "Less than I expected, but you're also quite a few years younger than I. Anyway, you may return to duty now."
<Joan>
Jason tapped his commbadge. "Sickbay to Cadet Brandy. Please report to Sickbay for a few minutes. I need to test your aging as well."

Cadet Graysong was manning his station when his instructor soke to him: "Cadet, I will be going down to sickbay right now. The station is yours, and if Capps comes back, tell him he is to help you run the station. You can decide where he goes, and please be fair."
She left before he could answer, and so he turned back to his station. There really wasn't more to do, since Commander McCormick had been doing her scans, and Nick had been doing everything else. But, since he was there all by himself, it was a bit more stressful.
A time or two his console beeped at him, letting him know that there were things the ship should avoid, so he sent messages to the Helm about them. No one was requesting energy, though he noticed that Engineering kept putting more power into the warp field. *Wonder what's going on there?* He sent them a nice boost of power to help counter whatever drain was happening there. He then looked at the messages, and nothing new was there. *This ain't so bad, I guess.*
He settled into routine, and waited until either Cadet Capps or Commander McCormick came.

S'reena leaned back in her seat; it was disturbing news that the admiral had aged twenty years. She was tempted to get up and assist him when he came back onto the bridge. She stiffled a gasp as she saw him. "Tyrron, please assist the admiral," she called, "I'm unable to get up right now."
The Romulan hissed as another jolt of pain was sent through her abdomen as one of the unborn kicked her violently. ~this is madness~ she thought ~I'm due soon, and yet here I am, still on duty. I must be mad!~ She held out her hand as the Klingon cadet approached, carefully guiding the old admiral. She waited for him to shift his weight from the Klingon onto her arm, and guided him into his seat. "You might want to use the chair's restraints admiral," she suggested.
"Bridge to engineering staff, is that probe launched yet?" She turned slightly and leaned back to face Grayson. "Getting any telemetry yet cadet Grayson? What is the status of the Matthew, is the crew still alive?"
<Hannah/Shelby/Grayson/Brandy>
"Cadet Whillis, can you steer us clear from this Vortex? We are in danger if we stay here; older crewmen and women may die if we do not depart soon."
<Whillis>
Once getting a response, she returned her attention back to Drew. "Admiral, you must tell me when you feel you cannot continue," she insisted, "I will not take command of this vessel, but if you have any discomfort you must tell me and I'll see to it that you are made comfortable."
<Drew>
>rightyho people...lets make some progress.......we're stalling! Feel free to jump ahead a little....we need to get to the Matthew and rescue them....or we got to turn around and depart with haste<

Brandy stood at his station he felt helpless and frustrated at the current situation. Brandy looked somewhat over the shoulder of Tyrron who was right in front of the tactical display, Brandy could see the unknown ship as it approached almost to firing range.
"Sir!" Brandy called out with a little anger in his voice to the bridge officers. "The unknown vessel is headed toward us on a hostile approach, they will be within firing range in 30 seconds." Commander Hope and the Admiral seemed sluggish in their response. They seemed to be totally concentrated on the Matthew.
"What is the status of the Matthew, is the crew still alive?"Commander hope said in an elderly voice.
Brandy quickly pressed the appropriate buttons on the control panel. "Ma'am according to the computers estimated time that the Matthew has been in this anomaly and comparing it to the rate of aging that has occurred on this ship in the time that we have been inside, it is not likely that there are any survivors."
"And what time have they been in this anomaly cadet?" S'reena quipped, but didn't await his answer. "What do you suggest we do cadet Brandy?"
"Ma'am if I may, I believe we need to make a choice, we need to try and seal the vortex, since my scans lead to the cause being a weapon, it is plausible to say that it can be sealed. Not to mention if we seal it we can save anyone who did by chance survive on the Matthew, but then we can concentrate on the incoming vessel and maybe get some answers from them." Brandy stood his ground and hoped he talked some sense into everyone, but what does he know, he's just a cadet.
"Carry on cadet," S'reena ordered, and settled back in her seat. She was starting to feel increasingly anxious, and unwell but she did her best to hide that fact from the rest. "Your orders admiral?" she querried, glancing at the old man beside her. ~No, he just looks old~ she chided herself ~he's not much older than I am~
Brandy acknowledged and returned to his panel to analyze the incoming ship, since they were now closer he thought that maybe he could get a better scan. Just then Dr. Black came over the comm.
"Sickbay to Cadet Brandy. Please report to Sickbay for a few minutes. I need to test your aging as well."Brandy shook his head slightly. "Sir, with all due respect, can it wait a little, we have a possible combat situation here and I am needed on the bridge, as far as the aging goes, Commander Bates has put a protective barrier around the ship that will shield us from further aging." Brandy looked upward slightly and hoped that he did not offend his superior.

Hannah was interrupted by an order from Lieutenant Bates before Shelby could answer her question. He explained that they wanted to create a temporal barrier between them and the vortex and gave Hannah the job of re-modulating the shield emitters to create Beta-tachyon pulse. Hannah remember a lecture on that at the academy, but couldn’t actually remember exactly how to do it, so she accessed the computer database and brought up the file. As soon as the file opened and she scanned down it, it refreshed her memory and she got to work.
There was bleep from her console and she looked down at the readings from the warp bubble that was still being projected. It had lost quite a bit of power, Hannah transfer some more reserve power to it, so it continued to hold. Then she returned to her previous task, it took her a few more minutes to re-modulate the shield emitters.
“Shield emitters have been modified,” she called out, “I am ready to start emitting a beta tachyon pulse on your order.”
Hannah looked towards Shelby who was working on the deflector. Hannah watching him for a minute waiting for him to finish so she could initiate the beam.

As Bates wheeled himself out of Sickbay, he despised the fact that it was now necessary to use the motorized features of the chair. His arms felt slow, and weak. He hoped with everything in him that this process could be reversed.
According to Doctor Black, he was now physiologically 66 years old. Earlier in earth's history, it was a year after the designated retirement year. Most people retired by that age nowadays as well. But to be forced into this old age so quickly, particulary when on duty, was unnerving. Kahlan could probably call him Grandpa Noah, he mused.
He guided his chair back into Engineering. Just as he did, he heard the comm go off. "Bridge to engineering staff, is that probe launched yet?"
Noah finished approached Lt. Bates. "Well, is it?" When Mike shook his head, Noah responded. "No Commander, I assumed you would be giving that order." He rolled over to the necessary console, and enter the commands. "It's been launched now."
<S'reena>
That done, he turned back to the Cadets. "Sooooo, how's it coming?"

"Engineering to bridge, the probe has been launched," Noah's voice sounded over the intercom, "apollogies for the delay."
S'reena nodded to herself and squinted at the main viewscreen. A tiny silvery dot was visible if she squinted hard enough and she smiled. "Thank you commander, and no need to apollogize. Getting older makes one forgetful at times, we are having the same problem up here."
Her smile widened as she heard the chief engineer make a snorting sound. "Engineerning out," she heard, and the comlink went dead.
"OPS, about that telemetry?" she asked, sounding increasingly impatient, "this is no time to play around!" However before the operations cadets could respond, a bright white flash temporarily blinded everyone.
"Report!" S'reena yelled at the operations cadet, "what happened! What did you do to that probe!"
<Grayson......it exploded>
Resigned, S'reena settled back in her chair and punched the pillow back in place. "Engineering, we lost the probe," she called, "OPS tells me it exploded, but I'm having them work on figuring out why it exploded."
"We're checking...." Bates responded. After a minute he responded again. "Looks like it imploded, rather than exploded, due to gravitational stress."
S'reena beckoned Grayson over, feeling too unwell to even try and turn. "Find out why it exploded," she said curtly, "see if there's any other reason besides gravitational stress!"
As the Hanson continued to dwell within the vortex, on her way to the stranded ship, a tiny black dot was appearing on the main viewscreen. "What's that!" S'reena exclaimed.
<Grayson: it's a black hole>
"Whillis, get us out of here!" S'reena yelled at the navigations cadet, "best possible speed!"
<Whillis>
ooc: anyone gonna protest about leaving the Matthew to her fate?

Joan arrived back on the bridge in time to hear about the probe being launched and exploding. She goes to her station to see what is going on. Her scans aren't running any more, and she wonders who terminated them. She starts them up again, very upset at whomever stopped them.
"Ma'am, should we be leaving innocent bystanders to die like that? We don't know if anyone survived, but we also don't know they didn't. Their could be little children over there still alive. We have to do something." Joan says realizing that they are just leaving instead of helping out.

John was sitting in his office reviewing crew files when the ship shook. He placed the files on his desk and walked over to the port and looked out in the vortex. John had been able to sense the people on the Matthew until now. His abilities being stronger than that of most Betazoid people; a fact he had even withheld from Star Fleet. Most people didn’t take well to telepathy.
John had been able to tell that the crew was alive on the ship but had blocked those ‘voices’ out. He had gotten so busy with the mission and helping the Cadets that he didn’t notice they were gone … until now. ‘I have to get to the bridge’, he thought.
The turbo lift opened onto the bridge and he walked over to Commander Hope. He sat for just a moment wondering if he needed to even tell her … it was evident that the ship was making its way out of the vortex. But other officers were protesting her decision and he knew that this information would keep them from rescuing a dead ship. He spoke up, “Commander, I need to talk to you.”
“Commander Graxen, you will need to do that here … I don’t have time to leave the bridge.” Hope spouted out.
Sitting beside Hope, John leaned over and said, “Commander, I am no longer aware of any crew on the Matthew. I am sorry to say this Commander, but I have been able to sense them for some time now. However, I had blocked there thoughts because they were too distressing. It wasn’t until just now, when the ship shook, that I noticed that there thoughts were gone. Commander … there is no one left on that ship … no one.” John eyes caught the Commanders when her head snapped to look at him.
S'reena noted the sad look in the counselor's eyes, and knew he was deeply troubled by the incident, and now his confession towards the extend of his telepathic abilities. She felt a pang of apprehension and wondered just how often he would've caught onto her thoughts, or that of any other crewmember while they were unaware of it. ~he wouldn't~ she thought ~it's against all ethics he stands for~ Yet she couldn't help but feel mistrust anew towards counselors.
"Are you certain counselor?" she then snapped at him, while she listened to McCormick's protests. "Keep your eyes on your scanners commander, and get your cadet to find me alternative reasons for the probe's implosion or explosion!" She didn't like the fact that her orders were being questioned.
S'reena cast a concerned look at Drew, who was sitting slumped in his seat. "Resume your course cadet Whillis!" she yelled at the navigation's cadet, "best speed out of this vortex! The Matthew is doomed, if we try to tow them, we will condemn this crew to death! Anyone wishing to lodge a complaint can do so, but we will not return to the Matthew!"
"I am very certain Commander," changing his look to a more solid one. "The Matthew is now a resting place for her crew ... and Commander ... I know you have reservations about my abilites but you need not worry."
Walking down to the helm, John sat to help Cadet Whillis navigate the Hanson to clear space.

Jack was piloting the ship getting closer to the mathews. "Cadet Whillis, can you steer us clear from this Vortex? We are in danger if we stay here; older crewmen and women may die if we do not depart soon." He heard the commander ask him.
"Yes ma'am i hae a reverse course already plotted and just need the word." He continued in as he saw the Mathews getting closer on the scanners. They launched the probe which Jack saw implode on his scanners. Shortly afterwards the ship shook and tey saw a black whole form outside.
"Whillis, get us out of here!" S'reena yelled at the navigations cadet, "best possible speed!"
Jack spun the ship around and heard the Inirtial componsaters groan as they adjusted to the turn and the new direction of the gravity wells. Untill now Jack had been exceptionally careful with his piloting but now he pushed the ship to its limits and manuevered with the best of his ability around all the gravity wells. He felt terrible about the Mathews and wanted to go back and help them, especially after McCormicks protest but he knew it would be useless. He heard the doors open and heard his instructor give a report of the Mathews crew to the Commander and felt terrible. They had been so close but they had been to late.
Jack felt that if he had just gone a little faster they might have saved them. He dodged several more gravity wells and almost went right through one, but jack turned the ship sharply and managed to avoid it. Soon they were clear and Jack felt relieved.
"We are clear of the vortex Ma'am," he said looking ot Commander Hope and slowing the ship down a little. "Wat are your orders?"
<Hope>
He knew the ship had been through a great deal of stress from his rapid manuvers through the vortex. 'Damn if only i was a little faster,' he thought to him self as he thought of the fact that htere could have been children on board. He had never had to deal with something quite like this since hearing of his fathers ship being destroyed. He had been young then so it never was that real to him.
This was the first time he actually saw death, and it worried him. If they could experience this on a cadet cruise then what would he face as an officer. 'I will have to make sure I am faster next time,' he thought determined to do even better then he had today.

After Shelby was given his orders and began working.He started to feel really sleepy even tho he knew he shouldn't be.He seen that he had forgotten how to emit a tachyon pulse.So he looked it up quickly and read alittle into it until he had a good idea of what to do.After making a program to run the intermittent series of anti-proton beams he decided to check his work.
After checking his work he decided to ask the Lt. if he could check it cause he wasn't sure.After the Lt. checking it he decided to use it cause it held up vary well.
(OFF: You all knows what happens next I cant type it cause I g2g.I'll try to post later sorry for it being short.)
