Loskene looked up at Sonak after he had taken a sip of some disgusting synthale.
Loskene: Children? No, not me. The closest I have ever gotten to children was when I was at the academy. There was a cadet, he was Andorian and married. He had three children. We were very good friends and he decided to take his lover to a dance. He...requested that I watch over his children. I didn't see how it would be a problem, so I accepted.
Sonak: And did you find it enjoyable?
Loskene: For about the first 5 minutes. After that they got extremely restless and one of them managed to get into a cabinet and spill a whole bottle of Andorian ale. It took a week to get the blue stains cleaned up. But they were very friendly and fascinated with me. I enjoyed being with the children, but at the same time I wished I could have just run off to Sal's deli, about a mile from the academy... And it seems I am beginning to trail off.
Sonak: Not at all Commodore. I was very entertained by your tale.
Kel: It seems like he'd make a great father wouldn't he?
Sonak: He certainly does.
Loskene cleared his throat and took another sip of the sickingly sweet synthale.
Loskene: Well, I must confer with Commander Matthews and make sure that everything is... ship shape. And I would be happy to come aboard the Vesuvius-A for a brief time. I've always wanted to visit a.... Somma class did you say?
Sonak: Yes, we'd be happy to have you.
Loskene: Very good, I'll be over shortly.

Sonak nodded. "I will give you both the tour myself," she said, then excused herself. "I will meet you both in the transporterroom shortly." She said her goodbyes and returned to the Vesuvius, where she tracked down Nick Martens.
"Commodore Loskene and Ensign Kel will be beaming over shortly," she told him, "do you think you can give them a little demonstration of our phase cloak?"
She grinned as Nick told her that it would be his pleasure. "Thank you commander," she said, "The commodore and the counselor will be arriving shortly. Would you direct them to sickbay please, I have to check on my children."
She walked off and headed to sickbay where nurse Caldwell was barely able to restrain the elder twins from charging towards her. "Mommy Mommy look what Mr Calwell did!" they shouted as they ran towards her, each showing a bandaged limb with pride.
Sonak raised an eyebrow, gazing questioningly at the chief nurse, who gave her an embarassed smile. "Just teaching them some basic first aid ma'am," he said, "they were very insistent and they wanted themselves wrapped in bandages." He motioned towards the office. "Jatan has returned earlier too and he is feeding the other twins," he said.
Sonak smiled and motioned the twins to go back to Caldwell. "Mommy is getting a few visitors in a moment," she said to them, "you must be on your best behaviour for them, promise?" The twins nodded and went off with Caldwell again, while Sonak walked on to the office. "Hi honey," she said, surprising Jatan when she entered. He stood from his chair, laying the spoon with which he was feeding the twins in turn aside and kissed her, returning the greeting. "They are behaving?" Sonak asked, "Commodore Loskene will be arriving soon with Ensign Kel. Would you care to accompany me on the tour? Caldwell can watch the children."

Quick after the briefing Fox left the briefing room, just like his fellow XO Commander Matthew he wanted to run a last check on the Vesuvius' supplies.
Walking through the corridors of SB Assaillant he thought about the briefing. A grin appeared on his face. ;D
"Arctica VIII." he thought "A planet, full of ice and snow.That....." At that very moment, without noticing immediately he had entered the transporter room.
"What can i do for you, Sir?" the officer there asked. "Where you want me to beam you to?". Coming back to reality Fox excused himself and said he couldnt leave yet. He still had something to do before getting back to the Vesuvius.
He remembered he didnt bring along his snowboard and didnt want to miss the chance that maybe after they had found the missing officers and civilians he could have a quick ride on his board. "A planet of snow and ice." he thought again.
He exited the transporter room again and went to look where he could get a snowboard. About an hour later he returned to the room, with a board and ask the officer to beam him to the Vesuvius.
After he materialized on the transporter platform, he walk off it and exited the room heading for his quarters. There he left the board, exited again and walked to the bridge.
Walking onto the bridge he asked the operations officer present for a report on the resupply of the Vesuvius. He handed him a padd. "Thank you." he said and sat dont in the captains chair, reading the padd.

Raiben taked that as a yes.
He loaded three Valkyrie class starfighters to the Jefferson and formed a team for them. One pilot and one from tactical to play the gunner. Those ships have holded off Dominion Dreadnaughts he thought. They will be enough to scan one sector at a time.
He must be prepared for every occasion. Beaming down without return is the last thing he wanted to happen.
When he returned to his office he looked out the latest reports of armory and equipment. His department is good to go. The only thing they needed is the data from the Starfleet.

(oh i know mikes not around and it's not his fault so i'll pin it on you Mark ) Semia looked at Kel and put a hand over hers and smiled and Kel blushed at the gesture "I'd love to assist you but can you give me a minute?" Kel nodded and She turned to Loskene "Can I have a word with you?" Losekene blinked and looked at his former FO "Erm sure I suppose so" The moved alone to the side by the window and Semia knew one thing she could do and get away with it she grabbed him by the ear and twisted "Whats this about you sending Mike on a covert mission?" Had Loskene been human he would have screamed in pain but since he wasn't he merely winced "OWWW, dammit Semia I hate it when you do that, as for the misson he will return soon" "He'd better" she hissed" I'm due in less than a week and we we're supposed to get married" *uh oh* Loskene though *i forgot about that* Smiling Loskene nodded he'll be back in time before ya know it he tried ignoring the glare he was reciving, Rubbing his temples "See you later sir" Semia said and loskene watched her leave with kel

When the mission briefing had concluded, Meylor took the opporutnity to mingle with the group and meet some of the Jefferson officers he was going to be working with. Having arrived just as the briefing began, he hadn't yet talked with anyone there, and he was most eager to meet some of them, including a rather boisterous glutton with a patch over his eye and a decidely sullen guy who appeared not to be acknowledging anyone's presence at all. This is going to be quite a sleigh ride, Meylor thought to himself. As the various officers continued conversing with one another, some taking their conversatins elsewhere on the starbase, Meylor went up to the sullen Lieutenant and introduced himself politely. As the other slowly rose his head in response, Meylor suddenly recognized the man from the crew bios he had reviewed earlier: Alexander Johnson, Chief Navigator. Remembering his own experience as a pilot during his younger days, before joining Starfleet, Meylor asked "You wouldn't be familiar with the Jeraddo run, would you? Hauling pergium ore between the fifth moon and Bajor?"
<tag>
Some hours afterward, Meylor was busy on the Main Bridge of Vesuvius-A, going over final logistics reports from the starbase quartermaster. Having been engaged in careful conference with First Officers Fox and Matthew about narrowing down the essential materials manifest for this mission, Meylor finally took a short break to order some raktajino from the replicator. What I wouldn't give for a nice dish of real hasperat, he pondered as he reviewed the data PADD in his hand. As the Klingon coffee met his mouth, he grimaced in frustration. Not only was the coffee less than authentic, but the equipment manifest still indcated three missing environmental suits. Throwing his hands up in consternation, he hurried over to the transporter room to beam back to the starbase. He would have to have a word with the quartermaster again, obviously. They had only a few scant hours until departure, and Meylor wasn't going to leave the away teams without proper extreme-weather gear....

Max was cooking up quite a meal in the Ves mess hall. The poor chef had nothing to do but "assist" the LT.
Chef "You really missed your calling as a chef"
Max "Not really. I won the African Seafood Cook off championship back in 2278 then went on to finish 3rd in the World Seafood Cook Off Championship the same year."
Chef "Impressive. Have you heard of a place in Brussels called 'The Fish de Brussels'? Its got fish stuffed with brussel spourts...some vegetable. Quite amazing."
Max "That was my Restaurant. I opened it. After, of course, selling my little known Restaurant in Africa, called 'Max Power Fish Eat In'?"
Chef "Oh i thought that was just a legend. They said he left to go to the stars or something. I didn't really believe that the person existed."
Max "Well, your looking at the person"
Chef "Are you the one who created the Fish de Flop? Oh my! People talk about that all over cooking classes in the world. They say he...well, you, could do anything with Fish and literally, there was no limit."
Max "Then why did i come third? If i was suppose to be the greatest person in seafood cooking history."
Chef "Inexperiance. There is more than just great tasting food. If you had kept at it, no one could have beaten you."
Max "Well, im an engineer now. Excuse me, i got mouths to feed."
Chef "Let me try the Fish de Flop"
Max "Ok."
Max countined to cook while the ships were still at starbase. He enjoyed cooking. He was also a little bored cause thats all he really been doing since arriving on the Ves, despite Nick wanting him to help with the interference. "Not enough information" Max thought to himself. "We need to get closer to the planet for me to be able to have a more accurate go at it" He was thinking. Anyways, back to cooking for the Ves crew it was for him.

Johnson was still in a bad mood. He had no desire to be talking to Meylor Paht or anyone else in this room. However, his upbringing had always taught him to be polite.
"No," Johnson replied, "I never did any freight hauling."
Then, feeling that he should give more detail than that,
"I grew up on starships so I've always been quite familiar with, shuttles and starships.

“ Cmdr Matthew Quarters “
Cmdr Matthew “ is on the Comm. Link With Cmdr. Fox talk over the mission Details the men both agree to how the away teams would be made up using personal for both ships And after reading over the latest the Arctica VI Atmospheric Surveys Reports.
Both “men Agreed Ensign Winters I dear of using a Valkyrie' fighter on this Mission would be a little to much Fire power for this mission and with the Atmosphere on Arctica VI it was looking Like this would be a Transport to site away without using Shuttle but that would be up to the Commodore to make the final Call.
Cmdr ,Matthew Leaned back in his chair as the comm. link with Commander Fox ended. he tapped his comm. badge. "Matthew to Ensign Dimítrij Fos , report to my office, ASAP, I need to see you."
A voice came over the comm. "I'm on my way, Commander, Dimítrij Fos out."
Matthew” pushed his comm. badge again. " Ensign Winters, please report to my office."
"On my way, Winters out."
-=- A few minute later -=-
Ensign, Dimítrij Fos was walking down the hall, on his way to Matthew Office. he briefly wondered what the First officer wanted, Winters finally arrived at the door to the XO. and pressed the chime, entering when Matthew told him to.
"Commander , you wished to see me?"
Matthew nodded. "Yes, have a seat, Lieutenant."
Winters did as he was told, noticing Ensign Dimítrij Fos standing over to the side. he nodded. "Ensign."
"Good day, Lieutenant." he said, remaining where he was.
Matthew leaned forward in his chair. "I just got off the comm. with Cmdr Fox. He informed me of an upcoming Star fleet mission."
Michael nodded, listening as Matthew continued.
"He needed two team leaders for this Up incoming mission,
"Understandable." Winters said.
"Good, I need you to contact Cmdr, L'Ola Kanz and make arrangements for security for the away teams.. Ummm, I would like you and Transporter Chief Walker to accompany your Teams on this mission .
"Good. Oh, and you're needed at the staff meeting the Commander is holding for all parties attending this mission. I'm sure he'll get the information to you."
"Very well, Commander. Is there anything else?"
Commander” Matthew turned to Winters as they stood up, " well we will be getting underway very soon so get right on this . Aye ‘Sir.
End Log
<< All senior Jefferson Department heads Please return to the ship and stand bye to get underway >>>

~Ice and snow~ thought Nick ~this better not end up like last time~. "Last time" he'd gone skiing on slopes of one of the biggest mountains in the Tandar system. Unfortunatly a fun time turned in a rather painful one as he'd broken both legs at the knees and gotten a class 3 concussion from his pole impacting his head. Sufficed to say he wasn't looking to trekking across a desolate and frozen wasteland. At least thats what the data padd told him.
He glared across the office at the gear L'Ola had dropped off for him. There was no way she was going to get that death trap on him. ~Snowboard my foot~ he thought ~just a guarantee that I won't cross my legs behind my head, nothing more. Doesn't stop everything else bad from happening~
"Besides I'm from a tropical planet. My people aren't supposed to be snowbound," he muttered to himself.
"You'll be fine," a voice said from the doorway. In it stood Sonak. "I'm technically from a two sunned desert. I'm quite looking foreward to this experience."
"Yeah well I've had some bad experiences with snow. It's beautiful from a distance, nothing more." He said grimly as he put down his padd.
"How are repairs coming?" She asked.
"Ahead of schedual. We'll be ready for departure within the next couple hours."
"Good, keep me up to date," she said and walked out of the office. Nick picked up the padd again to look over the planetary data.
"Oh and Commander, you're going to wear that stuff, thats an order," She said leaning back around the corner, a wide grin on her face. She quickly disapeared and he heard her let out a giggle as she went.

ooc: losk still w8-ing on your Somma-tour response....
ic:
Sonak was grinning as she noted the sheer shock on Nick's face. Naturally, she was aware of his previous ski-ing experiences and knew also that he was more into climbing rocks. ~he will get his chance of that for sure~ she thought.
While she herself was born on Vulcan, she had spent most of her life on Earth, in a low-land country where it had not snowed in years. Thus, she had never had a ski-ing experience before and she was quite looking forward to it. Despite the fact that she was more of a heat person, and did not actually like the freezing cold. Her own survival pack thus contained the necessity of a spare insulation suit, and a parka that was somewhat thicker than that of her crewmates. ~why do they always make women's clothing so...suggestive~ she thought, as she was reminded on how close fitting the suit was. To her own horror, it showed just about every curve of her lithe body. ~I am grateful for the inventor of knee-length parka's~ she thought, smiling wryly.
While rounding a corner, she could still hear Nick muttering to himself about 'having to go snowboarding' and she suppressed yet another smile. She wondered how soon they could get under way. She had just reached the bridge when word got to her that both Jefferson and Vesuvius-A were quite ready to depart.
"Mr Meylor, in Mr Marill's absence, please take the helm," she said, "set course for Arctica VIII. Clear all moorings and prepare to leave spacedock at one quarter impulse. After clearing the system, increase speed to warp five." She looked back and up at Sam Ramsden, who was configuring the weapons systems. "Mr Ramsden, please get me the Jefferson." A second later, the face of Commodore Loskene appeared on the main viewscreen. "We are ready to depart commodore, we will rendezvous at Arctica VIII."

“ USS JEFFERSON MAIN BRIDGE “
Loskene” and Counselor Kel entered the bridge together and Loskene took a deep breath as he looked at the looks of disbelief on the crew that was his family, yet he'd barely had the chance to get to know. Loskene once again made eye contact with Matthew , who understood the look and walked to the center of the Bridge , as Cmdr Pasek took an empty seat at an Empty science station. "Mister, Johnson, hail the Dock master. Request clearance for Departure", he ordered as he sat in the center seat.
Lt,jg Johnson " sir’ The dock master reports all clear, sir", Johnson reported. Loskene nodded. "Helm. Ahead 200 kph, maneuvering thrusters only", he ordered.
"Thrusters answering 200 kph", the helm officer replied. "Lay in a course for the Arctica VIII and engage at warp six once we're clear of the dock", Loskene ordered as he passed a PADD to an enlisted crewman and then looked over at Counselor Kel . "Got a minute?", he asked. Counselor Kel nodded. "Mr. Matthew , you have the bridge, I'll be in my ready room", he ordered as the Executive officer took his place, and Loskene made his way to the his ready room with Counselor Kel in tow.
= Commodore Loskene Ready room =
Counselor Kel” chuckled and walked to the replicator. "You started out as a Security officer didn't you?", she asked. Loskene nodded. "Coffee?", she asked. Loskene nodded. "Started out as a Security Tactical officer if you believe it", he said with a slight smirk.
“Counselor kel” took the two mugs and brought them back to the desk placing one in front of Loskene . "The Security officer Who Would Be Captain!", she said theatrically, causing both of them to laugh.
Loskene “ took his coffee in hand and took a sip. "Went from security officer to chief security to Strategic Operations to Second Officer on the USS America", he continued. Counselor Kel looked up. "Commodore on the Jefferson?", she asked. Loskene nodded and took another sip of the coffee.
Kel” asked as she took too partook of the hot beverage.
Loskene” thought for a second. "I Spent a little time on the USS America. Some command duty there", Loskene explained.
"Jefferson was not your first full-time center seat?", Counselor Kel asked in disbelief? “Loskene “put his coffee down and shook his head. "I went to school to be a Fleet Strategic operational Planner . But” I'm a Security officer to the core.
“Kel’ looked at him and took a deep breath. "Listen... I've been around the block a few more times than you have. Take a pointer from me. This is what I've learned about Starfleet Command. STOP trying to figure them out. You never will. They have psychological profilers who sit in a white room in San Francisco and do nothing but go over fitness reps and every OTHER report for days, weeks and months on end. In TRUTH, they probably know more about YOU than you know about yourself. If they say you're ready, then you are. You just have to find in yourself what THEY” already know to be there", she said.
Loskene” nodded in half-belief. Counselor Kel” leaned closer, putting her hands together. "But you've proven on Jefferson you can deal with Dangerous missions that why Starfleet command need you out here .
Loskene looked up from his half-empty coffee mug. "I suppose you're right", he noted. "Thanks", he added quietly.
Kel’ smiled and put her coffee down on the desk beside her. "Don't mention it. Now go and get your things together and get some rest", she said with a smile.
“Counselor Kel” stood.
"That's an order", she chuckled as Loskene smiled and she left the commodore ready room and headed for her Office she had a lot of reports to get done before the ship Arrive in the Arctica system and the mission begins.

"No," Johnson replied, "I never did any freight hauling."
Then, feeling that he should give more detail than that,
"I grew up on starships so I've always been quite familiar with, shuttles and starships."
Meylor nodded slowly while trying to think of ways to further engage the reticent young man. "I know what you mean; I've always been something of a Starfleet brat myself. I was lucky enough to be born a planet that my father was stationed at for several years afterward, but pretty soon, the three of us were tramping all over the sector. I remember one time when..."
Johnson suddenly interrupted with a curt tone of voice. "Yes, I'm sure. Excuse me, but I have to get back to my duties." And with that, Johnson got up stiffly and walked out of the room without further elaboration.
Meylor sat down heavily in the chair next to him, and found he couldn't finish his drink. When will I ever learn to stop acting so eager?, he thought. It didn't seem to be winning him many friends, not on the Jefferson and not (he suddenly realized) even on the Vesuvius. Perhaps he should schedule an appointment with that new Counselor, discuss these concerns. Meylor had never found it easy to make friends; his family had never stayed in one place long enough for him to establish lasting connections anywhere.
As for getting to know someone like Johnson, he thought, maybe we have more in common than either of us thinks...
<presently>
"Mr Meylor, in Mr Marill's absence, please take the helm," she said, "set course for Arctica VIII. Clear all moorings and prepare to leave spacedock at one quarter impulse. A second later, the face of Commodore Loskene appeared on the main viewscreen. "We are ready to depart commodore, we will rendezvous at Arctica VIII."
As the two ship captains addressed eachother over the viewer, Meylor relinquished Ops to his faithful assistant, the proud Andorian officer who had helped train him when he first came aboard, Lt. Thorad. Taking his seat at the Conn station, Meylor quickly familiarized himself with the controls once more. It had been some time since he had taken the pilot's controls, but the old reflexes soon asserted themselves, and the ship was soon cruising smoothly at warp speed. With matters under control for the moment, Meylor ordered an iced coffee (something new he just tried on the starbase) from a nearby yeoman, and brought up the materials manifest on his console screen. Apparently, a few added non-essential items had been loaded aboard just before departure, though whoever did it had failed to notify the Operations Manager: Meylor. As he checked the contents (a snowboard, eh? never tried that sport), he soon satisfied himself that nothing was amiss and no hazardous materials had been surreptitiously brought aboard. Still, better safe than sorry, Meylor thought, and ordered the yeoman to deliver a message to Cargo Bay 2 personally to make certain that the duty officer checked the relevant containers one more time. Being thorough was not only part of his job description...he enjoyed it.

Loskene was in his ready room, rubbing his head. During the day, he had felt quite horrible due to the drainage of nueral energy that had come him from the previous mission. He had had to postpone the tour that Commodore Sonak had offered. After a few hours, he could not take it anymore and asked the doctor for a numbing agent. He was a bit tired and light headed but he was up for the tour. He switched on his computer and opened a channel to the Vesuvius-A.
Loskene: Hello, Commodore Sonak. This is Loskene.
Sonak: Greetings Commodore. I heard you were not feeling too good. Has your condition improved?
Loskene: You could say that. I am ready to beam aboard whenever you are ready.
Sonak: Well, now would be the perfect time.
Loskene: Very good, I'll be there in a few minutes. Loskene out.
And with that, Loskene got up, still feeling a bit faint and walked off the bridge and down to the transporter room.
McNealy (NPC): Hello sir, off to the VES?
Loskene: Indeed, ensign. Energize.
Loskene vanished off the pad and soon arrived on the Vesuvius's transporter room. It looked and smelled different then the Jefferson's. Commodore Sonak walked in a few moments after Loskene arrived.
Sonak: Commodore Loskene, welcome to the USS Vesuvius-A.
Loskene: I am honored to be here.
Sonak: Please, come with me.
Loskene nodded and walked out of the transporter room with Commodore Sonak.
<TAG: Sonak, time for the tour!>

Semia kept glaring at Loskene for sending mike off she was going to return to the Jefferson for a bit ot check on thier Snake Boa apearetnly somone fed it quite well cause when she poked her head in his quarters it was fat literally
Sighing she looked at sonak feeling really tired
"Are you ok Mrs Cavit?" Sonak asked
Semia nodded and felt the baby kick again looking down at her roundish belly she thought *when are you comming out dammit*
She was nervous weather it was a boy or girl heading down to sickbay
She found Reckus humming to himself [utting instrments away she never really met him so she had a sly smile on her face and decided to show the crew what kind of an odd ball she really was
so she decided to do the same thing introdicing herself to nick martens to Reckus
She stood only a milliameter from behind him and waited she got the resutl she wanted but not the way she wanted it he stepped backward and on her food
She let out a yelp of pain and Reckus screamed in surprise
"Gah god dammit" Reckus bent to pick up his tricorder then he looked at Semia noticing her for the first time
"Oh hello" Reckus said
Semia sat on the bio bed and held her food tenderly "It never fails" she winced though the pain
"I beg your pardon? miss?" Reckus looked at the woman with shoulder length dirty blond hair
"Cavit" Semia said
"Lemmie look at your foot" He said and scanned it then flushed "Your big toe is broken"
Her face clouded "As long as I walk I don't care"
Reckus nodded "Fair enough"
She looked at him oddly and watched him take a regenerator to her foot
"You must be the new couselor" Reckus said
"Yup" Semia said
"and you due in less than a week" Rekus looked at her
Semia rolled her eyes "somthing to look forward to then i don't have to carry the extra bulk around, it cramps my fighting style"
"Fighting.....your a couselor" He looked at her oddly
"and i know about 15 diffrent martial arts" She winked "Yes I know i'm supposed to be the sane and quite one"
Reckus though back to looking at her records and recalled that she nearly has broken every bone in her body in the past "And a danger to youself"
Semia looked and him and snorted "unlikely there suga" grining

Sonak was a little surprised to see only Loskene materialise on the transporter platform, but did not ask why Ensign Kel had not come along. She had assumed the young Trill would accompany him. ~have I been wrong in my assumption then?~ she wondered, as the two of them walked out of the transporterr room. They had just crossed the threshold when she felt the vibration of the deckplates change. "We have gone to warp," she said, "in about three hours at warp 5 we will arrive at Arctica VIII."
She turned and glanced at the commodore, and noticed that he looked exhausted. Something had happened during his last mission, she knew, and he had been injured. "We will start our tour in main engineering, where Commander Martens will explain the works of our cloaking device," she said, as she directed her collegue to engineering.
"Mr Martens," she called, and the engineer appeared from his office, "would you explain our phase cloak to Commodore Loskene? He will be stuck with us until we reach our destination." She gave her chief engineer a sly smile, one Loskene could not see.
<Martens>
After the thorough explanation, the tour continued through the three sections of the ship. "The Vesuvius-A is a Somma class vessel," Sonak explained, "and currently she is the only one of her kind." Her pride of her ship was quite obvious, but the pride in her crew was even more obvious. "Commander Martens is her designer, and thus knows the ship through and through," she continued, "as you may have noticed. Now, my own pride and joy, apart from the bridge and my family of course..." She paused and pointed towards the blue-ish sickbay doors. "Sickbay...being a medic myself, I take great pride in having advanced medical equipment aboard. Commander Reckus will be quite happy to explain what we have aboard now, that we did not have on the old Sovereign, which got destroyed, sadly." A mask of grief passed over her face for a moment, but her expression brightened when two of her children came darting forward.
"Now, remember what I told you," she berated her children, who instantly quieted down. The boy and girl gazed up at Loskene, mouths open in awe. "Are you really from another realm?" Sevus asked innocently, and was instantly rewarded with a prod from his twin sister. Sonak rolled her eyes in exhasperation as she held out a hand to each twin. "This way commodore, I shall introduce you to my own chief medical officer." She walked on until she reached the office, where Jatan was working his way through a stack of reports.
"Jatan, got a minute?" she asked, smiling, "there is someone I would like you to meet."
<Jatan>
She turned back to Loskene, as her children raced forward to the CMO. "He is as a father to them," she explained, "they know no other since Seliv died." A few seconds later, Jatan appeared from the office, as a nurse took care of the children and kept them occupied. "Commander Jatan Reckus, meet Commodore Loskene." She knew that Jatan would possibly not be able to resist asking for a brief examination, as Loskene was the only one of his species to serve in Starfleet.
<Jatan/Loskene>
<awaiting responses first before continuing>

OOC: sighs, little back post, of time before/between discussion with Matthew and Sonak entering Ves bridge. As Fox was reading the pad, the Jefferson hailed. It was Commander Matthew for him, the OPS officer said. "Relay to my Quarters." Fox had ordered and walked off, leaving the OPS officer in command. We he got to his quarters he sat down behind a screen and picked up Matthews call. After both men were done discussing the mission details, Fox walked back to the bridge. He assumed his place in the 'big' chair and continued with the work he was interrubted from. A little later Sonak walked onto the bridge. Fox got up, moving to the chair next to the big comfy captains chair. She asked how far the prepairations were. Fox reported that they were ready for departure. Asking Meylor to take helm Sonak immediately ordered to start undocking procedure.

Nick still sat in his office glowering at the snowboarding equipment. Earlier he'd tryed on the regulation snow gear first. As soon as he'd put them on his second in command popped her head into his office and teased, "You've got them on backwards."
"Thanks Sarah," he said with disdane. She left and he scrambled to get the blasted gear off his body. He yanked at one boot, lost his balance and careened into his bookcase.
"Mr Martens," a voice called, and the engineer peered his head out of his office, "would you explain our phase cloak to Commodore Loskene? He will be stuck with us until we reach our destination." Sonak said giving her chief engineer a sly smile, one Loskene could not see.
"Sure, just one sec." He disapeared back into the office. Quickly he pitched his gloves and jacket across the room and stepped back out to give the tour.
"If you'll follow me," He motioned to a section next to the warp core. The three walked over to an odd shaped device which was plugged directly into the warp core power matrix. "This is one of our Pegasus MarkII Phase Cloaking devices."
"One?" Loskene asked puzzled.
"Yep it would be silly to have MVA when only one part of the ship would be able to cloak. I managed to twist the arms of the Klingon and Romulan Government to let us pilot a project continuing the origional Pegasus cloaking device which ended up in that ships destruction. What we acomplished was relayed to each govenment to survey and we installed three on our ship as a kind of guinea pig thing. So far it's worked great."
"As I've seen," Loskene said with a smirk, remembering their meeting earlier.
"Well thank you for the explaination Commander. If you'll excuse us I'm going to continue our tour," Sonak said with a slight bow.
"No problem, thanks for stopping by sirs."
The two Commodores walked into the turbolift and were wisked away to another deck. Nick sighed and leaned on the rail around the warp core. Sarah stood opposite him with a stupid grin on her face. She covered her mouth with her hand to stifle a giggle. Nick raised an eyebrow and she pointed at his head. He suddenly became quite aware of the tuque on his head. With a growl he ripped it off his head and pitched it towards his office. This sent Sarah into a fit of laughter. Nick just shook his head and went back into his office to sulk.

Her talk with the other counsellor had been fast. They had debated a bit about the who an what of this mission and had set up a fast screening for the crew. After that she had had a small talk with the captain and had then set up the screening. While waiting for it she checked to see where the captain was. If he wouldn’t be busy she would like his company for a little while.
She had been surprised to learn he wasn’t aboard. Sighing she slumped back on her chair. She had no time to think about him right now. As her stubbornness kicked in she briskly walked off of the bridge and made her way to engineering.
“Ensign Tarrin, could I talk to you for a moment?” A young man nodded at her and tapped a woman on her shoulder, saying a few words to her. She nodded and took his station.
“Anything I can help you with counsellor?” He asked, a bit surprised.
“Yes, honestly. I saw in your file you had an accident when you were a child.” The man nodded. “I got caught in an snowstorm on the colony.” He agreed.
She explained a few parts of their mission. He turned slightly pale. “Right…” He said. “Would you like me to arrage schedules so that you can stay on the ship?” The man started to object, saying he could do it, but she stopped him.
“I can make it an order…”
He smiled softly. “Alright then…”

Having received specifics on the interference, the Vesuvius Science department was modifying the medical tricorders. Supposedly anyway. They were having surprising difficulty with a few wavelengths.
=/\= Carter to Kanz, we've isolated the problems. I'm sending you the details now. =/\=
"Receiving... Got them. Thanks Jason."
=/\= We're going to split off to the other teams and see what we can do there. I'll call again if I find anything more. Carter out. =/\=
At the science station on the bridge, L'Ola was co-ordinating and interpreting the work that was going on. The atmospheric conditions across the planet were, according to the reports they had received, very varied. This meant compensating for lots of situations.
Add to that the fact that the simulations couldn't be relied on, and that the wavelengths used in medical tricorders were wide spread yet specific, it was no wonder that they hadn't solved the puzzle yet.
She looked at the information Carter had sent her. The answer suddenly clicked into place. L'Ola entered a few commands, before jumping up and heading down to one of the labs.

Once the medical tricorders had been sorted out and the shift was over, L’Ola went back to her quarters. She noticed that she had received a message, and instructed the computer to play it back for her. The smiling face of Lucy appeared on the screen.
“Okay, so I could have just opened a comm line, but I didn’t want to disturb you. Knowing my timing I’d have called you in the middle of the night anyway. I wanted to let you know that I’m fine, and to check that you are too.
“Your parents were very nice to me when I first arrived. I think my advanced notice had given them time to prepare themselves. They were still a little shocked though. But they’ve made me feel at home and I’m starting to feel more like myself again.
“It’s a little weird seeing a lot of familiar faces in unfamiliar places. I’m having to think of them as completely different people.
“In fact, I’m trying to make a fresh start with most things. Since I won’t be born in this timeline, I figure I just have one shot like everyone else. The only difference is that I wasn’t even supposed to have this shot…”
She trailed off for a moment, before snapping back into what she was saying.
“Say hi to everyone for me. Have you heard from Jenna yet? I’m assuming that she left for Earth a while ago.
“I’ll be here for a while longer, but I should be heading back in your direction. fairly soon.
“Good luck with whatever your current mission is. Try to relax a bit and have some fun.”
Lucy paused and took in a deep breath to steady herself.
“I realise that from your perspective I’m not your daughter, but I still think of you as my mother, because in all my memories you are.
“Well I’ll leave you to whatever you were going to be doing. Take care of yourself. I’ll see you soon. Bye”
The face flicked off the screen, leaving L’Ola feeling a little unsettled. She knew that the issue of Lucy belonging anywhere wasn’t going to go away overnight.
But what surprised her was the feeling of relief. She hadn’t noticed how much she had been worrying about how Lucy was doing. She sort of felt responsible for the girl. Everything was just far too confusing.

Once Sonak had asked about Joni Kel, Loskene stopped and lightly slapped himself on the forehead.
Loskene: Damn it... This... ailment that I have seems to be affecting my memory as well. I will have to make it a point to apologize to her later...
Sonak: Any idea when you will be fully recovered?
Loskene: I'm supposed to be better by now. However it seems that it may take a bit longer then I first thought.
Out of a corridor came a man. He approached Loskene and Sonak.
Sonak: Ah, here comes Commander Martens
Loskene: Greetings Commander.
Martens: Commodore. If you'll come with me, I can show you something you may find very interesting.
Loskene: Huh?
Sonak: Our pride and joy.
<Martens shows Loskene the phase cloaking device>
Loskene: Now that is intriuging. Some day, I will have to show you our PNb.
Martens: ...PNb sir?
Loskene: Polaric Nuetralization beam. It's what we used to track your ship...or at least, we were able to see bits and pieces.
Martens: Now that would be a great benefit. Perhaps we can exchange techincal data?
Loskene: Perhaps later. I must be getting on with this tour.
Sonak: Come with me Commodore, I'll take you to our next destination...
As Loskene walked, he began to feel guilty again. He didn't want to be rude, and hoped that Joni would not take it personally.
Sonak: Something wrong?
Loskene: Oh, nothing. Lead the way, Commodore.

Sonak nodded and lead the way to sickbay.
<insert the part about sickbay in my previous post here>
<resp Loskene>
After sickbay, Sonak led Loskene through the secondary and tertiary bridge to the primary bridge. "Commodores on deck!" someone shouted, and Sonak grimaced. She hated it when her crew shouted out her arrival, it ruled out surprise arrivals, something she liked to do on occasion. In the centre seat, Fox turned and got to his feet.
Sonak led her collegue down to the command centre, and pointed at the viewscreen. Not too far of their starboard bow, the Jefferson was keeping up and slightly ahead of them. "Welcome to the bridge of the Vesuvius-A commodore," she said, "and I will be delighted to introduce you to my crew." She pointed at Fox and then the rest of the bridge officers. "Commander Fox, Lieutenant Meylor Paht at OPS, Commander Harper (npc) at Tactical, Commander Kanz at science and I believe you have met Lieutenant Semia Cavit? Ms Cavit has been offered the position of first officer on the USS Nevada, and she will be disembarking as soon as we get back en route to Assaillant. Will the Jefferson be able to give her a ride to the Nevada? We will have to return to Bellicose for restocking our supplies."
Just then Meylor called out that they were nearing Arctica VIII and that he was preparing to achieve standard orbit.
<ooc: ok folks lets get down planet and search for that team...Losk, please lead the way if you will....ur the boss on this one;)>
