Raiben open his eyes in to the lights.
"He is returning to normal"yelled someone. Raiben has no reason to bother.
"Where are we?"he asked in a whisper grabing an arm near himself.
"You have saved us Ensign Winters we are safe, Jefferson and Vesuvis are getting us out of the system"camed a reply.
Raiben felt comfortable, Raiben felt that his duty is completed and returned to his slumber. But someone or something didn't let him to do that.
"Winters, Winters stay with us!"comed the same voice.
Raiben coughed and tried to see who this person is.

"Easy now," Ayan said softly, "you were badly hurt, you musn't move too much Mr. Winters. It is best if you go back to sleep, we shall get you to sickbay as soon as we can, I promise."
He looked up at L'Ola who had approached. "I know we are caught in a tractor beam...how long until we can be beamed over or docked? He must be brought to sickbay as soon as possible, he lost a lot of blood."

Sarah sill paced engineering, her mind trying to avoid the fact that they couldn't do anything to get the crew off the planet, Nick mainly. Carl sat in his chair still, this time wielding a sore jaw. Earlier he'd tried to get Sarah to sit down and failed miserably. He just couldn't stop what she was feeling and she most definatly needed to walk it off.
"You know I think I'm starting to see the duranium plating under the carpet," Carl prodded her.
"Alright I've had it," she pointed an accusing finger at him, "He's down there fighting for his life and you just sit there like theres nothing we can do."
"There isn't thats the point," he defended.
"But you're not even trying! I've run through every possible scenario in my head and you just sit there."
"Hey it's all I can do. We've all been given different gifts. Mine involves sitting and being patient."
"Bah, I'm going to call the bridge. See if theres an update." She reached for her combadge.
=/\=Engineering this is the bridge. We need all available power routed to the engines and tractor beam. Draw from non essential systems if possible=/\=
Sarah stared in stunned silence at Carl, who in turn stared back.
"Well!?" Mike peered around the corner at them. Both scrambled to their posts.
~minutes later~
=/\= Medical and Engineering staff prepare for casualties and repair duties=/\=
Sarah looked up from her post and headed for the door. She was abruptly stopped by Carl.
"You know what you're doing?" He asked.
"You have engineering Mr. Jenkins."
"He's taken. You know that right?"
"Carl let it be or it'll be more than your jaw hurting." With that she pulled away and headed to the transporter room.
~transporter room~
Nick materialized on the padd of the Vesuvius. He took a deep breath of the clean air. He stepped down and onto the soft carpet of modern technology. Nodding to the chief he turned to exit only to be stopped by an unexpected kiss. His eyes widened at the sight of who it was... Sarah.

Fox, Matthew and the scientists were heading to the bridge. Standing in front of the door the whole ship shook heavily as both Vesuvius and Jefferson locked their tractor beams on the ship and pulled it out of the planets atmosphere. They all entered.
Not much later all ships had left the atmosphere and had left orbit around the planet. Fox ordered to hail the Jefferson and asked if they could be beamed onboard.
He also mentioned that some officers needed to be beamed directly do sickbay, naming Winters as one of them.
The commanding officer at the time agreed and started to arrange the beam over. (OOC: Loskene and Matthew are still on the wrecked ship:P)
Less then half an hour later everyone was beamed onboard the Jefferson apart from Nick who had arranged he would be beamed to the Vesuvius.

He looked up at L'Ola who had approached. "I know we are caught in a tractor beam...how long until we can be beamed over or docked? He must be brought to sickbay as soon as possible, he lost a lot of blood." "We should be able to beam over any minute now, but I wouldn't advise all going at once." she replied. "Well I think Mr Winters here should be high up the list." Ayan pointed out, "And preferably he shouldn't need to wait around at the other end." L'Ola nodded in reply, "I'll get it sorted." She sent a message to the transporter chief on the Jefferson. "Right, hopefully the three of us should be transported directly to sickbay on the Jefferson." "Hopefully?" he asked. She shrugged, "I've never actually spoken to any of their transporter crew before." One of the consoles started beeping, L'Ola spun round to look at it. "We're in range. Prepare for transport..." ~~Sickbay, USS Jefferson~~ "You heard what happened to him?" One of the nurses nodded, "Yeah we heard he'd be here soon." "That's okay then. I'll leave you in peace. Coming to find the others, Ayan?" "Sounds good."

After a long journey of travelling through the turbulent atmosphere, and without the inertial dampers online, the road home was very bumpy. Almost everyone had been beamed over to their ships. The ordeal was finally over. Loskene walked a weakened Joni to the transporter pad. Loskene grinned at her;
Loskene: See you in a few minutes.
Joni managed a small smile and was soon surrounded in a blue sparkle and dissapeared.
Loskene: Well...guess that we are the last two, Mr. Matthew. You first.
Matthew: If you say so sir.
Matthew stepped onto the transporter pad. He soon beamed over.
Loskene walked up to the transporter pad. The transporter seemed to have a small problem. The panel would not cooperate with him.
Loskene: Come on...Work...
Loskene's communicator started to beep. Loskene quickly answered it.
=^=Commodore, this is the Jefferson. You had better leave soon sir, starting the engines caused severe hull strain. Strucutral integrity will fail soon, and the ship will fall apart.
Loskene: I am trying, having a little trouble with the transporter.
=^=Hold on, we will try to get a lock on you... We have a lock, but it is very weak=^=
The walls behind Loskene began to collapse and the floor began to hiss, emitting steam.
Loskene: A weak lock is better then no lock! Do it!
A transporter beam began to wrap around Loskene. On his way out, he could see the old ship begin to implode. After a couple of minutes of fine tuning the transporter, the transporter on the Jefferson finally recovered Loskene. It was very warm. Infact, it was too hot, but it felt good.
Transporter chief: Welcome home sir.
Loskene: It is very good to be back...Did everyone else make it?
Chief: Yes sir, they have been escorted to sickbay.
Loskene: I think...I think I'll make a quick stopover in sickbay to...you know....make sure that everything is....okay...
Chief: Are you ok sir?
Loskene: Yes...I'll be ok...
Loskene began to stumble a little bit and began to collapse.
Loskene: Maybe not....
The transporter chief tapped his combadge quickly and informed sickbay to tend to Loskene.

Sonak woke up in sickbay, only to find nurse Caldwell fussing over her. "Hey there," the chief nurse said, while he adjusted a few settings on the diagnostic board, "decided to wake up have you?" He smiled gently as he helped her sit up. "Headache should be gone now, you gave your brains quite a rattling. Adrenalin levels are dropping now, but you will need the rest. Something made you anxious down there," he babbled on, "care to tell?"
Sonak shook her head, and closed her eyes preventively, but she found that things were not starting to spin. Carefully, she opened one eye, and then the other. "Sickbay," she started, looking around, "how did I get in sickbay?"
Caldwell nodded towards a few orderlies. "They carried you here ma'am, just after you were beamed aboard. Jatan is helping out on the Jefferson, he should return shortly. Commodore Loskene had collapsed after beaming aboard, Ensign Kell is suffering from pneumonia and Ensign Winters was also severely hurt. you did save his life though, that was quick thinking."
Sonak gave him a wry smile. "Once a doctor always a doctor," she said, "am I cleared to leave sickbay?"
"If you promise to take it easy," Caldwell said seriously, "I will tell Jatan on you if you don't." There was no smile on his face, but his eyes held a bemused look.
She nodded and swung her legs over the edge of the bed, then hopped down onto the deck. "I will be on the bridge," she said. Seconds later, she was sitting in her comfortable command chair, waiting for reports from her department heads. She nodded to Meylor. "Get me a link to the Jefferson," she said, and seconds later she was looking at Commander Matthew. "Is everything all right with Loskene, Kel and Winters?" she asked cautiously, "I would like to invite your crew aboard the Vesuvius for a final briefing on this mission."

Somewhere in the back of her mind, she felt the familiar tingle of a transporter. She groaned as the symbiont inside of her squirmed slightly. When she felt whole again she dared to open her eyes. There were worried faces everywhere, they were the last she saw before she doubled over from pain, exhaustion and heat.
When she woke up again, a nurse she hadn’t met yet loomed over her. She blinked a couple of time. She felt exhausted, but there was no pain anymore. She smiled softly and took a deep breath. Thankfully the strange gurgle wasn’t there anymore. Her head felt like a ton of brinks though, and she still had that feeling of not being totally in her body.
“Hello there, good to have you back Counsellor. You gave us quite a scare there.” She nodded and apologised. “Oh you have nothing to apologize for! I’m just thankful that they got you back in time!”
“How did I get back here in time?” She asked. She was told the story of the old ship that had been brought back to life, and beaming over. Then of course she had been carried off to sickbay, where she was now. She didn’t feel in the mood to check if it was true.
“Got some sleep counsellor, all the damage was repaired, and we gave you a painkiller, but you really wore yourself out there.” The blond woman said. She nodded and rolled over to fall back asleep right before she did though her eyes shot open and she shot up. Right away she fell back though, trying to stop the world from spinning, the hammering in her head to stop, and her stomach to stay where it belonged.
“You shouldn’t do that…” The nurse said as she came walking back. Joni grumbled something under her breath.
“Please, tell me, Is Los—is the Commodore alright?”

With Daya busy working on Loskene, Jatan walked over in aid of the nurse. All the wounded had been brought to the Jefferson's sickbay, save Sonak. Caldwell was well able to care for her, and Jatan wasn't worried. Gently, he pushed Joni back into the pillows and draped the blanket around her again. The look in her eyes confirmed what he already had guessed. "Shht, you need to rest now Ms Kel, the more you rest the sooner you will be able to see him."
But Joni insisted to know on what was wrong with him. "Exhaustion," Jatan explained, "he was not well when he beamed down and the exertion and lack of rest overtaxed his systems. In other words, it drained him of the little energy he had. Add to that the worry for a certain crewmember." He smiled gently. "He will be fine, but like you he needs sleep. Lots of sleep."
When Joni finally settled, Jatan took the nurse aside. "Keep an eye on her," he said softly, "I will go see how Daya is fairing." He walked off towards the Jefferson's CMO.
<anyone wish to care to cover for Daya? In absence of my own CMO I'll cover for Jatan Reckus>

"So this isn't your ship then?"
L'Ola shook her head, "I don't even work here normally. This is the USS Jefferson, and in parallel orbit is the USS Vesuvius."
"Which is where you work, right?" Ayan asked.
"Yup. We're a one of a kind ship. Cloak, MVAM, you name it we got it. Want to see? I might be able to get our Chief Engineer to give you a guided tour of the engineering stuff."
They carried on walking round. "That sounds good. I can always come back and look round here later."
Turning a corner they entered a transporter room.
"Two to beam to the Vesuvius please."
"Okay Commander, energising..."
It took less than 30 seconds. Ayan and L'Ola beamed in. L'Ola spotted Nick and Sarah by the door. Ayan looked around very confused. L'Ola asked to be transported to a different room. They went.
"Welcome to the USS Vesuvius-A, Ayan. We are currently in transporter room..."
"4" the transporter chief finished for her.
"Thanks. So where do you want to go first?"
Ayan was more than a little confused, but decided it was best to pretend that everything was perfectly normal. Anything that he needed to know would surely be explained shortly. "How about you science labs?"
A smile briefly appeared on L'Ola's otherwise emotionless face. "Okay, let's start with the main labs and work our way round. Right this way."
As they headed down the corridor her mind was in overdrive. What the hell had been going on in that transporter room? Had Nick heard her talking? Did he really think she wouldn't find out something was happening? She decided to wait and see if he mentioned anything... before she did anything drastic...

OOC: I can cover Daya for this one.
ON:
Loskene was extremely tired. He could barely open his eyes. Out of instinct, he tried to get up, but a firm hand pushed him back down.
Voice: Easy there, sir... You need rest, a lot of rest.
Loskene: Oh...We are on the Jefferson. What happened to me?
Voice: You collapsed on your way out of the transporter room...
Loskene's vision was blurry, but he began to see a clear face. It was the Jefferson's medical officer, Daya.
Voice: I am starting you on an intense regimen of Bendocordrazine. If your immune system does not reject it, it should help increase and maintain the neural chemicals that are normally produced by your brain. Also, much rest...and relaxation. Doctors order.
Loskene: Where is Jo--- Ensign Kel?
Daya: Ensign Kel is resting comfortably. She is making a recovery and should be able to return to her duties soon.
Loskene: Excellent...And what about the others? Winters, Sonak, Edani--
Daya: They are all recovering. Some will take longer then others but everyone should be fine.
Loskene: I should contact the Vesuvius, and see what their status is.
Daya: Not right now Commodore. You will rest for 10 hours.
Loskene: I will, just as soon as I check up on my officers, and check on the Vesuvius.
Daya: Yes...in 10 hours.
Loskene: But I--
Daya: This should help you sleep, sir.
Daya reached over to Loskene's neck with a hypospray, and gave him a dose of tranquilizer.
Daya: Sorry sir, but it's for your own good.
Loskene quickly drifted off to sleep...

ooc: gotta love doctors:p
Jatan walked over to Daya, smirking as he saw his fellow CMO put the CO under for a couple of hours. "One might think commanding officers always know better than the doctor, don't you?" he asked, nodding towards the now sleeping Loskene. "I have the same problem with my own commanding officer, though she does know better than the doctor at times because she is a doctor."
His grin widened. "And adding to that, doctors do make the worst patients." He shook his head in mock dismay. "I just received word that mine did leave sickbay, Caldwell released her." He was sure that Daya did not miss the admiration in his voice. "A lovely woman," he murmured as he walked off to check on Joni, "lovely but stubborn." Fate had it that Joni was just waking up again.
"Why hello again Ms Kel," Jatan said jovially, while checking her over, "feeling better? Your captain is sleeping now, but if you take it easy and promise me to rest more later, you may go see him." He smiled down at her gently, much aware of her feelings for her commanding officer.

Joni smiled. “I promise I’ll rest after.” She said happily and sat up again. This time slowly. That helped. She slid her legs over the side. Then took a moment to check up on her ankle. It looked fine now. It felt good as well, if not a little stiff. She thanked the unfamiliar doctor and stood. It wasn’t perfect yet, but it would be in a few days. As would her shoulder and hopefully her head.
Looking around she located Loskene, sleeping soundly. A blush rushed up to her cheeks. One last look at the doctor and then she walked to him. She ran her hand softly though his hair, her other hand taking his.
“You did great Los, very great…” She whispered. Looking around she saw no one watching her. She bit her lip for a second before she kissed Loskene on his forehead. “Sleep now, you’ll be fine later…” She whispered, smiling.

Raiben tried to lift himself. The hard part must be over he thought.
Then a womens voice camed in.
"Easy, take it easy" "Easy? there is no easy part in my life"replied Raiben and took a sitting stance. "You must lie down your wounds are not..."started the womens voice again "Doc"said Raiben"do you know who am i?" "You are a wounded officer who is now going to lie down or i will call for security to help you obey me"
Raiben smiled a little "I am Cheif of Security ma'am"replied Raiben"i think we are not introduced; but it is seems it will be some other time"
And with saying that Raiben lefted the sickbay under the surprised gazes of the sickbay personel. He have seen worser wounds and none of them taked him off duty. "Bridge"he said to the computer as he entered the turbolift.

Even if Loskene was deep in sleep, he could swear that he could feel a soft hand brush over his face and a slightly wet kiss. A few hours later, Loskene awoke. According to the ships chronometer, it was 0400 hours. The sickbay was dark, underlit by dim panels that gave off a soothing blue. Somehow, he liked being in the dark. He could not see anything, and it was comforting to be alone. The only noise Loskene could hear was a ventilation shaft above him.
He rose up out of bed and just sat. He was reflecting on the recent events, and what the future would hold. Of course, Loskene wanted a lazy couple of days, just to relax from the ordeal, but their was much guilt in him. He had to go to someone in the hirearchy of Starfleet....Tell them what happened to him in the early days of his career. He thought it over and over in his head. He knew that if he told someone, he would definetely need to go through some kind of legal hassle, and perhaps even lose command of the ship...
For Loskene, he had no other choice. He had to admit to his failing. That thing that was in Loskene's head, it manipulated him, and used his guilt against him. He would not let the unspoken truth jeopardize anyone ever again."After we depart from the Vesuvius and head back to Starbase, I will let the truth be known..." Loskene thought to himself. Suddenly, the lights in sickbay flashed on. Loskene's eyes took a few moments to adjust to the light. He squinted. "Sorry about that" A voice said. Loskene: Who...? Daya: Daya. It is good to see that you are awake. Loskene: I thought Ensign McGillis was doing night shift... Daya: He is. However, there are still injured that need to be attended to. He is busy with some others. Are you feeling better? Loskene: Yes...I suppose. I've had more sleep today then I have had in a month. Daya: Well, you needed it. Just to let you know, the Vesuvius will be departing in a few hours. Commodore Sonak informed Commander Matthews that if you wish, you are welcome aboard the Vesuvius to bid farewell to their crew. Loskene: I think I will do that. We couldn't have made it off of the planet without them... <tag anyone> OOC: Almost finished.

Light always woke her, no matter what. She was every lover’s nightmare this way. Not a few times she had been woken up, not by light, but by the cursing of lovers that hadn’t want to wake her with light and had bumped into something in the attempt. And yes, this time too, when the lights flickered on in sickbay Joni woke up with a start. She shot up and groaned. Falling back she fought back nausea.
A couple of hours before she had said goodbye to Los and had turned around. Somewhere around that time, she too found herself over a metal bin, emptying her already empty stomach. When asked, Daya told her it was just ‘aftershock’, and it would fade soon. She didn’t mind another couple of hours in sickbay, the commodore was here…
She found herself looking over at him, and he was looking at her. She smiled.
“How are you feeling?” She asked as she scooted out of bed.
OOC: wee hee! good mission! ;D

<jumping ahead a little>
Commodore Sonak awaited her guests in the transporterroom and preceded them to the mess hall. "Mr Power has taken the liberty of installing a barbeque, apparently," she announced, but winked at the Jefferson's chief engineer. Of course the man had asked her approval beforehand, and she had gladly given it. "And I have taken the liberty of organizing a little fare well party. We have done well this mission, though we were mislead on the item of the missing troopers."
She launched into an account of what was thought that had happened: The spirits residing on the planet had used the dead bodies aboard the crashed vessel - that Winters had managed to get operational and which the engineers had gotten back into space - to contact Starfleet after a hundred-year old distress signal sent by the troopers that had survived, via their old-style communications systems.
"We survived quite an ordeal," she concluded, and remembered her own moments of witless anxiety, and near death. She gazed at Joni and Loskene, who stood together quietly, then at Max who stood beside Nick, who seemed to be laughing in response to something Max must've told him. L'Ola, who stood with a surprised expression on her face beside Meylor, then Jatan and Daya, who stood discussing something also. though quietly so not to interrupt her.
Sonak raised her glass of champagne. "A toast, the the magnificent crews of the Jefferson and the Vesuvius-A," she announced.
~~ later ~~
After the little party, when the Jefferson crew had returned to their own vessel, Sonak sat in her command chair again, and ordered Meylor to set course for Starbase Bellicose.

Pre-party: Loskene didn't notice that Joni was near him and was surprised to see her. Joni: How are you feeling? Loskene: hm? Oh, Joni. I was wondering who was in here. Thought I heard something. I'm doing a little better thanks. Perhaps feeling better physically...Joni: You look like your deep in thought... Loskene: You could say that. Joni: What's on your mind? Loskene: Nothing really... Just still kind of tired from the whole ordeal. Joni: I understand what your saying. I feel the same. Loskene: Are you feeling any better? Joni: I'm still getting over it. Just aftershock really. Loskene: Computer, two cups of orange juice. Joni began to snicker as Loskene handed her a glass. Loskene: Cheers to a full recovery. Joni: Cheers. Loskene: Ah...I haven't been drinking anything sweet in a while. Will you be coming to the farewell party? The Vesuvius will be leaving soon. Joni: Of course. Everyone else appears to be going. Loskene: Without them, we would still be down there. Well, I am going to head over. Are you coming? Joni: Yes, let's get going. Joni held out her hand. Loskene, a bit nervous, took her hand and they strolled out of sickbay together. At Party: Loskene had just heard Sonak's kind words about the Vesuvius and Jefferson crews, and her very detailed description of highlights of the mission. Sonak stepped down from the soapbox. Loskene stepped up after a few minutes and decided to say something. Loskene: My sentiments echo with Commodore Sonak's. You are both exceptional crews, and I couldn't ask for a better crew then the Jefferson, and I'm sure Sonak feels the same way about her crew. This was a difficult mission. At times, it seemed hopeless. But none of us gave up hope. We all fought until the very end, and we all made it. If I could, I'd give every one of you another pip on your collars. Several members of both crews gave a light chuckle. Loskene: Perhaps someday in the future, our ships will once again cross paths and we will have the pleasure of serving with each other again. I look forward to that day. So, to the Vesuvius crew: may you have a pleasent journey. And to my crew: Nicely done. You have served well. Loskene stepped down. Sonak: We will be heading out shortly Commodore. Loskene: Commodore Sonak, it was a pleasure working with you and your crew. You have a good ship, as well as the crew. Loskene put his hand out and spread his fingers apart. Loskene: Live long and prosper. Sonak smiled. Sonak: A simple handshake would suffice, but either one will do fine. Loskene: Good luck with your children. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- OOC: So...I guess this is the end...for now at least. Thank you all for a great mission filled with great stories worthy of publishing This has definetely been one of the best missions that I have ever participated in, and I hope you all feel the same. Good luck to the crew of the Vesuvius. And maybe someday we will have another go at a Joint mission!
