Darkness was soon setting in and Sonak, suffering from night-blindness, was getting more and more difficulty finding her way in the tiny cave. The batteries of her flashlight she wanted to save for when it would really be needed. ~my phaser~ she suddenly tought, fighting down yet another seizure of sheer panick. To her, it felt as if the room was getting smaller and smaller, and she could just feel the walls coming towards her at rapid pace. ~calm down~ she told herself, but her breath was constricted in her thoat. Finally deciding to use the flashlight, she shone its bright beam onto the thick pack of snow that was covering the entrance.
Claw-marks covered the inside of the sheet, and Sonak wondered who else was in the cave that did not show himself. Only after close examination, she discovered that the marks were her own, as she raked her hand over them. However, she did not remember clawing at the sheet. Finally, deciding to use her phaser, she burned a hole in the snow, but before it was big enough to crawl through, her phaser gave out. "No, no!" she cried in dispair, tossing the phaser away in sudden anger. Then the flashlight gave out as well, and she was left alone in the darkness.
She sat up suddenly as her sharp hearing picked up the sound of boots crunching on the snow and ice. She did not recognize the foot-fall, and she was sure that there was no indiginous animal life on this planet either. "Who goes there!" she cried, her voice laced with fear. As the hole in the snow was not big enough to crawl through, she was still trapped in the cave. And the dead trooper did not offer much comfort either. Not knowing how the trooper's communications system worked, she had no idea if there would be such another one elsewhere on the planet, if not a ship.

OOC: Sorry, too good an opening to pass up on…
Small talk was resumed during the hour walk. She didn’t care much about the darkness that was setting in good now. They stepped more carefully, taking at least 15 minutes longer then they should have.
The hill they had moved towards didn’t really have an opening, or a cave of sorts, but there was one part of it that seemed as if the snow had just been recently blown there, and it had a small hole in the middle of it.
“Care to see if that is something?” Joni asked. The other woman nodded. Walking towards it L’Ola suddenly stopped.
“Did you hear that?” She questioned. Joni hadn’t hurt anything. Her ankle was hurting pretty bad by now and she just wanted to sit, her mind occupied with tiredness.
“I didn’t hear anything.” She answered. L’Ola called out though.
“Hello?! Anyone there?! Hello?! It’s commander L’Ola and Ensign Kel!”
For a few seconds it was quiet, then suddenly a voice sounded from behind the snow wall.
“In here! It’s me, Commodore Sonak!”
“Step back! We are getting you out!” Joni called back. Both women picked up their phasers at the same time. Taking aim in the middle both fired. It didn’t take too long before the snow crumbled and the hole was big enough…

can't resist here.....: taking aim in the middle? not of the hole I hope cause then you'd be shooting me! *ouch*
ic:
Sonak was just barely able to dive aside when she saw the bright red beam of the phasers come her way. "Hey watch out!" she cried, shuffling off to the side of the cave as the two women used their weapon to melt the snow and make the entrance just big enough to enter and leave through, but small enough to leave the wind out. "Commander?" she asked quietly, as the two women entered. With the light gone, she could just barely make out their shapes, but she could not tell who was who.
"You could have shot me," she said irritably, dusting the snow off her parka. "Have you both seen Commodore Loskene? He and I got separated in the snow storm, he was injured and he may not have gotten far on foot, and I have not been able to find him in the snow. Since I got caved in, I have not been able to look for him either, however, I found one of the troopers, a communications officer." She lead them to the corpse and showed them the vox system. "Would any of you both know how to operate such a system by any chance? There would be a good chance that elsewhere on this planet, there is another such system."

Loskene could tell someone or something was near. For once, the air was calm and he could hear a few voices in the distance. He ran to where he could get a better glance. He was on a ledge and looked down from it. He saw three officers in the distance; Sonak, Joni and L'Ola.
Loskene: Three kills! Perfect!
Loskene was prepared to jump off the ledge when a voice in his head told him to stop.
"No! No, not yet. You will not be able to stop them all without someone managing to incapacitate you."
Loskene: But it's perfect. I can attack from above. They will never know what happened.
"They are trained officers. They are prepared for danger. No, I have a much better idea, and it involves an element of confusion.
Loskene: Tell me!
"Alert them of your presence. Go to them with arms wide open. Let them know that you are in good health. Make them trust you. You are the Alpha squadron commander, they will learn to put their lives in your hands. Soon after, you will kill them when they least expect it.
Loskene: ...This is...this is wrong. What right do I have to toy with them? Better to just kill them now.
"I admire your compassion for them, but there is no other way. It is a nessasary evil at this point."
Loskene: This whole plot reaks of evil.
"But remember, it is for the greater good, for you. You are too worthy to be forced to endure their inferior life.
Loskene: The greater good...
"Now... walk down the slope, slowly. Go to them. Be relieved to have found them, alive and well."
Loskene: Alive and well...For now.
"For now, Loskene. Don't worry, this unfortunate situation will soon pass, and a prosperous future awaits us."
Loskene began to tread down the slope, yelling out to the three officers.
Sonak: Who could that be?
Kel: It's Loskene! He's ok...
Loskene: Oh, it is very good to see you all, alive and well.
Sonak: It is good to see you again, Commodore. I was concerned when that storm seperated us.
Loskene: I can assure you, things are fine. Infact, I feel quite well. It must be all this fresh air.
Loskene breathed in deeply and grinned.
Sonak: ...Well, now that we are all reunited, we should find somewhere to stop for a little while. I think we could all use a rest, and decide what to do next.
"Your time is almost here, Loskene..."

(OOC: Just in time for Halloween .) Nick fumbled around in a wild panic. He couldn't find his flashlight for the life of him. He wedged himself under the consol he'd been working at, in a hope that whatever was there wouldn't find him. Around him he could hear the sounds of movement and heavy breathing, something was looking for him. It circled around the room, he couldn't see it he could only hear it. The room was pulsed by a blue bolt of energy silhouetteing the deceased of the bridge, each posed in an equally disturbing way. In a turn of events the sounds moved down one of the hallways and off the bridge. Cautiously Nick pulled himself out from under the console and stood up. His hair was plastered to his face as the sweat ran down his forehead. The blood in his viens pumped fast and hard through his body with the added drive of adrenaline. Shaking he pulled out his flash light to survey the situation. He hit the on button and a beam of light shot out and onto a pair of legs. This pair of legs wasn't laying down, it was standing. He followed the legs up to the face of a very alive yet dead Andorian soldier. It's eyes were milky but glowed with a blue fire. Suddenly the lights turned back on in a limited capacity, just enough to see the room around him. There standing in a circle around him was the crew, which just moments had been laying around in various states of decay. They were battered and bloody, but each one despite it's fatal injury was standing there staring at him with glowing blue eyes. He let out a scream and tryed to escape. The newly undead each wanted a piece of him. One swung a large blade at him just narrowly missing. With one hand he grabbed his tricorder which had been recording the database and with the other snapped the wrist of the attacking Andorian, freeing up the blade for use. Holstering his tricorder he picked up the blade and cut down another attacking Andorian. Blue blood splattered everywhere and soiled his clean white snow uniform. Realising his attacks against the advancing aliens was futile he dropped the weapon and began running down the hallway. His last hope was to get to the hatch before these creatures could. Behind him he could hear the yowls and screaches of the dead following him. He pulled out his phazer and fired a couple rounds into one of the Andorians but failed to stop it. "You don't think it'll be that easy do you?" A voice boomed through the room. "You didn't think that you could get away from me did you?" Immediatly an Andorian from a side corridor body slammed the engineer into the bulkhead and struggled for the phaser. Luckily Nick got his hand on it first and vaporised the attacking alien. His ears picked up the sound of the hatch clanging in the wind, as did the Andorians. Each looked attentive at the possiblity of freedom. Nick bolted full speed towards the door, as he reached it he dove through, turned and fired back into the corridor at the aliens. He slid through the snow and fired a couple more volleys into the doorway. Once he was satisfied that nothing was coming out he lay his head back in the snow. A pair of legs came into view followed by a face, it was Max. "Well that was a dramatic entry if I do say so myself," He teased, "What were you shooting at?" He asked peering into the corridor. The lights were at normal levels, on some of the walls lay new scorches from the engineers final exit. Nick stood up and looked over the shoulder of his fellow officer. "Where are they!?" "Where are who?" "The zomby Andorians and Talh'knal!" "Dude this ship is Andorian but it's been here for over 150 years. I'd say it was from the Andorian Imperial days. Theres no way anything would be alive that long." "I even killed one with a piece of debris, I got blood...." he looked down at his clean uniform, clean save the dust and dirt on it, "on my uniform." "Tiz ok budy, I did some scans, theres no biosigns in there. Nothing under 100 years old that is. Lets keep searching."

“Commodore, in all fairness, we did warn you to step aside…” Joni offered in her own defence. Sonak waved the comment away. “It’s alright ensign, relax. I’m fine.”
As the commodore proceeded to inform them of Loskene’s disappearance Joni swallowed. She hadn’t anticipated that potential danger to the Commodore would have her heart flying into her throat, have her looking around in a futile attempt to locate him where none had prevailed before. She also hadn’t counted for the urgent need to hug the man, or at least show him just how happy she was.
She pushed it all back though. Happy that she had him back, but staying where she was. Just out of formality. And of course all that panic had been because he was her commanding officer. It was all very logical. Logical… she was acting like a Vulcan…
“We have a perfectly good cave right here, why not take cover here tonight. I’ll keep first watch. I’m too wired to sleep anyway.” She offered.

"Joni," Sonak started, beckoning the young woman to follow her. She cast a glance back at Loskene, but didn't say anything until they were out of hearing range. "Joni, it is quite all right to show your feelings," she said softly, "you would not be the first one to start a relationship with a fellow officer, much less your CO." She smiled slightly, but it was a sour smile, the fear of being locked in had not quite left her yet. "I am romantically involved with my chief medical officer," she confided to Joni, "and to me he means the world to me, especially after the death of my bondmate."
Seeing Joni's startled expression, she continued, "I am a medic myself, and possess a very high ESP rating. In fact, I am a telepath, not just touch-telepath. I can pick up on feeling as well as thought, should I choose to do so. Ethics, however forbid me to read a person's mind without their expressed permission, though that does not keep me from picking up their emotional state. Go to him Joni, and tell him how you feel. I will keep first watch, I have been locked in that cave for too long, I need some fresh air."
She grinned, surprising the counselor yet again. "Plenty of fresh air out here, would you not say? I wish though, that it would be less cold. Vulcans are desert bred, not snow bred." Then she gave the young woman a light shove towards the entrance of the cave. "If you need privacy, send L'Ola out," she called after her.
Once Joni had left, she leaned against the wall of the mountain the cave was in. She had a nasty feeling about this situation. She knew Loskene had been badly hurt in his fall, and yet now he was walking without trouble, and he seemed more revived as well. ~something is terribly wrong~ she thought ~if only I new what!~

Trying to hide her deer-caught-in-headlights-expression and the blush on her cheeks Joni entered the cave, infinitely thankful for the deep dark. When she was finally inside she suddenly realized she hadn’t thanked the commodore. She looked back through the hole, but felt uncomfortable to go back. Now she also felt uncomfortable to go further inside. Having feeling was one thing. Accepting and acting on them was something /completely/ different. She hardly knew anything about the man that she was falling for way to fast. “Hello Joni.” The man’s voice shook her out of her deep thoughts. She again thanked the dark to hide her blush. My gosh, she was acting more like a teenager then a grown up woman with a couple-of-hundredth-year old symbiont in her stomach. “Hey, I just came to check how you were feeling…” She answered, stepping forward, her eyes now used to the dark. “I’m fine, why don’t you sit down?” Joni nodded, sitting down next to him. “Erm… L’Ola… could you give the commodore and myself a moment?” She asked. The woman nodded. “Of course, I’ll go keep the commodore company.” “Thank you.” Joni answered with a smile. She waited patiently for the other woman to get out of the cave before turning a little to the man. She kept her eyes cast down as she softly started talking. “I-I was afraid for you when I heard you were gone…” When no reply came she continued. “I almost fell into a crack in the ice. I hurt my ankle and shoulder, but everything else was fine. A few minutes later… I suddenly felt an incredible pain in my lower back… As if I had fallen on something…” She looked at the man now, meeting his eyes. “Was that your pain…?” OOC: Is it also aiding to murder when you are the one about to get killed?

Loskene: My pain?...Oh yes, I must have inadvertently gave off a telepathic signal. It must have entered the pain receptors in your brain and caused you to feel it. I apologize for that.
Joni: No need to be sorry! I was just-
Joni dropped one of her gloves in the snow.
Joni: Great. White snow, white glove. This will take a while to find. Excuse me for a moment.
Joni turned her back to Loskene, fetching for her glove.
"Loskene... the moment you have been waiting for, it has arrived. Kill her now, and hide her body in the dark corner of the cave. You will tell the other two officers that a large animal approached and knocked you out, and mauled Ensign Kel"
Loskene: Now...?
Joni: What was that, Commodore?
"Now is your chance. Draw that spike, the one you carved out of ice. Make it as clean as you can"
Loskene: .....
"You are running out of time Loskene. Do it now. Now!.
Loskene: But I do not wish it...
Joni: Commodore, are you feeling okay?
Loskene: Sorry Joni. I'm just exhausted from this whole affair.
"Your time is running out! If you expect to get out of here alive, kill this one."
Loskene drew out a half meter long icycle. He lifted it up to Joni's back.
"Now, reach forward"
Loskene's hand began to shake.
"No..no..no...You are not doing it right"
Loskene: Enough...ENOUGH OF THIS!
Loskene brought about his ice staff and thrust it into his arm. He began to holler in pain and fell to the ground.
Joni: Loskene!! What..Why have you done this?
Loskene: ...Save you..
Joni: What?
Hearing all the noise and Sonak feeling a sudden burst of pain, Sonak and L'Ola rushed into the room.
Sonak: What has happened?!
Joni: He stabbed himself....
Loskene: I'm free. F--free.
Sonak: I don't understand. But whatever is happening, we need to control the bleeding.
The voice in Loskene's head slowly began to fade away, and Loskene was thankful. The pain he was in would be much worse had he massacred the three officers. Loskene began to lose sensation in his arm.

"Light," Sonak ordered, kneeling beside Loskene, "I need light. I am blind in this darkness." Thankfully, L'Ola had the sense to reach for her flashlight, and soon she had a small fire going too, which seemed to keep burning despite the snow. "Thank you," Sonak said, then turned to Joni. "Hold him steady, I may have to hurt him in order to save him." ~Loskene, stay with us~ she thought, gazing directly at him, knowing he would hear ~focus on Joni, on your love for her~ "I will be right back," she said, and went to to dead trooper. She rid him of his tunic and tore it to shreds, then deftly applied a tourniquet around Loskene's arm, pulling it tightly. "That will do for the moment, until I found my med-kit," she said, then grinned at Loskene. "You are fortunate to have come back this way commodore, and you are extremely lucky that I am a doctor."
She went to rummage in her pack and found the desired items. "Now this is going to hurt for a moment, I do not have any anastaethics with me, only antiseptics." She held up the laser scalpel, and knew that with the right setting she would be able to burn the ends of the cut vein together, and then the skin. She handed him a tightly wound strap of cloth. "Stick that between your teeth and bite down. I do not want you biting yourself on your tongue." When he did as he was told, she set to work. Several minutes later, he was leaning against the cave wall, his arm defly wrapped up in a clean bandage. "Until we can get back to the ship, this will have to do," she said, then got back to her feet. "I am going back outside, this cave....I..." She did not finish her phrase but briskly stepped out into the open again, where once more a storm was blowing.
She faced the cold bravely, not wanting to be in the cramped confinement of the - warm - cave again just yet. ~this is illogical~ she told herself ~fear is an emotion...and one I cannot afford just now. Commodore Loskene is injured, Ensign Kel is also injured...Kel!~ In all the commotion she had forgoten about Kel's injury, but the young Trill had seemed to be all right, and not in any pain. ~she is brave~ Sonak thought ~braver than I at the moment~ She lowered herself into the snow and curled up to keep herself warm. She did not notice how the snow covered her.

Following Sonak’s instructions with wide eyes, she crawled behind Loskene and took him in her arms, wrapping them tightly around his waist, and steadying him between her legs. What had happened?! Why had he stabbed himself like that?! Why had he talked to himself?! All those questions… they would need answering, but first she needed Sonak to save him.
She remained quiet for a few moments, but as she heard a muffled scream from his lips, she bend her head and whispered reassuring words in his ear. “Don’t worry, everything will be alright…. You’re safe now… I’ve got you, I’m not letting you go… Be brave for me, you’re doing great… I’ve got you…” When she was out of things to say, she just repeated them. Over and over until Sonak announced she was done.
Just before she stumbled out she managed a hoarse ‘Thank you’ and then lay down the commodore, cradling his head in her lap. She sat quietly for a moment, then remembered L’Ola was still there.
“Could you check up Sonak? The storm is picking up. I need to know she is okay, especially--” She stopped herself, not wanting to finish the sentence out loud… but in her mind she couldn’t stop it. ‘especially after saving his life.’
Just before the other woman climbed out she stopped her. "Oh, hey, maybe you could see if you can do something with that radio thing. You /are/ the science officer."
As she stretched her legs out against cramp, she winched. Damn, her ankle was hurting pretty badly… but it was nothing compared to the injured arm of the man she was holding. He was still out. A few minutes into the treatment he had blacked out. Either due to loss of blood or the pain. She wasn’t sure. She relaxed as much as she could, running a soft finger over his face, waiting for him to wake up. Waiting for him to tell her he was alright. Waiting for answers.

Loskene was lying there, unsure of where he was. The last thing he remembered was a sharp pain in his arm.
Loskene: What...
Joni Kel: Easy...Easy. Take it easy Sir...Loskene.
Loskene: Oh....What has happened? Is anyone hurt?!
Kel: Everyone is fine sir. At least, everyone in our group. Sonak is outside of the cave...
Joni Kel wanted to ask Loskene so many questions, why he injured himself and an explaination for his strange behavior. Being a counselor, she tried to restrain herself from overexerting Loskene. He was in bad enough shape as it was.
Kel: Sonak managed to save your arm. She is a miracle worker.
Loskene: Sigh...I will have to thank her later.
There were a few moments of silence unti Joni finally spoke.
Kel: We were worried about you...I was as well.
Loskene: I feared for you as well. Something happened to me back there. I can't fully explain it...I...I need time to think.
Kel: Take all the time you need, Loskene. It doesn't seem like we going anywhere for a while, anyway.
Loskene: I almost... I nearly killed you.
Joni looked frightened for a moment and Loskene gave a slight warm grin.
Loskene: Don't worry. I can't even feel my arm very well at the moment. I must have suffered more damage then Sonak thought.
Joni: Well, when we get back to the Jefferson, we'll make sure that someone takes a look at it.
Loskene sat up weakly and looked into Joni's eyes. He couldn't quite explain how he felt, but he felt a feeling of peace, of closeness and one of certain elation.
Loskene: Oh...I'm very glad to see you Joni.
Joni smiled and walked near him. She sat down next to him and put her arm around him...

Ooc: when did I move? Anyways…
IC: “I’m glad to see you too sir… I’m glad you’re okay…” She answered. She held him the best she dared. He had been about to kill her… but he had fought it, so… so… she honestly didn’t know. But she had learned that it was never good to make any discussions in a stressful situations, so she would save the thinking for a later time, and now just hold him.
“What happened to you… when Sonak lost track of you… when the storm hit?” She asked softly.

Sarah O'Malley paced engineering. Her hands wrapped tightly around the back of her neck in an effort to relieve tension. Nothing they'd worked on would cut the interference to the planet.
"You know it's not going to help," Carl piped up, he'd been sitting in his chair watching her pace for the last 20 minutes.
"It's better than sitting around," She quipped back.
Carl raised his hands, "whoa chill out there girly. We're going to get them back, it's just a matter of time."
"Yeah, lets hope they're alive when we find them."

When Kel asked what had happened, Loskene just sat there, emotionless.
Joni: Please...tell me.
Loskene: I don't think I understand it all. It was an odd expierence. It was as if something was inside me...something that had a control over me. It manipulated me...It dug into my subconsious and pulled all these powerful memories to the surface...
Joni: What could do such a thing...
Loskene: I'm not certian. I thought it could be something to do with my ailment. When I attacked that alien back on Rova... He sucked the neural energy out of me.
Joni: But the doctor was confident that he had stabilized you.
Loskene: Yes, and for a while I thought so to. Or, at least I convinced myself of it. I noticed that I was not feeling myself when we departed from the starbase.
Joni: When Sonak checked you over with the tricorder, did she notice anything ususual?
Loskene: I don't know. Frankly, I was in too much pain to think about it.
Joni: Would you mind if I scanned your head?
Loskene: ...Ok.
Joni ran the tricorder over his head.
Joni: I'm not quite sure what this means. These numbers are much lower then they were when the doctor scanned you.
Loskene: It's my neural peptides. They are dangerously low...But it's impossible. There's nothing that could have affected my peptide level. Except...
Joni: Except what Loskene?
Loskene: Except some kind of viral or...or some kind of parasitic microorganism.
Joni: So...something may be consuming your peptides?
Loskene: It is possible. If there were an organism, it could have affected my brain...my inhibitions. If this is the case, the organism must be killed. And the only place where we could find such equipment...
Joni and Loskene: ...Is on the ship.
Joni: But if that is the case, why are you not under it's influence right now?
Loskene: I suppose it's possible that when I injured myself, it disrupted the organism's control over my brain. The pain receptors in my brain may have weakened it.
Joni: If that virus is on this planet, it must be airborne.
Loskene: Sonak... She is telepathic as well. I'm not too familiar with the Vulcan brain, but it is cause for concern. It may be nessesary to scan her as well.
Joni: I'll find her.
Loskene: Joni...wait. It's too dangerous out there. If anything were to happen to you... I- I don't know what I would do.
Joni: I will be back Loskene...I promise...
Loskene managed to stand up and walked over to Kel. Unsure of what was going to happen, Loskene embraced Kel.
"Is this...love?" Loskene thought to himself.

Sonak woke from her reviree, finding herself unable to move. ~I am snowed in~ she realized, shivering with the extreme cold that had penetrated the thick fabric of her parka, as well as her insulation suit. She was fortunate that she'd had the sense of putting on her breathing mask, or she'd have suffocated long ago. ~Just how much am I snowed in?~ she wondered, trying to get her bearings. She discovered that she was no longer sitting up, but that she must've been toppled over by the wind. ~how long until I am missed?~ she asked herself, fighting down her fears. ~at least I am now insulated from the cold winds~ she thought, finding that sitting huddled and covered by the snow was much warmer than walking just on top of the snow.

Ayan Mai braved the storms, clutching his standard issue winter coat collar to his throat. He had long lost his breathing mask, as well as his back pack. He was fortunate that he had not injured himself when he had fallen off the cliff onto the soft freshly fallen snow. The human scientist had lost his andorian partner Edani during the last storm, and he wondered if she would be all right.
Squinting against the sudden bright sunlight, that reflected off the snowed over landscape, he could just discern two figures in the distance, coming at him rapidly. "Just how do they manage to move so fast," he muttered. Only when they came closer did he notice that the two were coming down on snowboards.
"Hey!" he yelled, waving his arms to get their attention, "hey, over here!" When the two came even closer, he could see that they were men, but due to their outfits, he could not discern their species. From their uniforms, he judged that they were Starfleet. "Great, more rescue attempts," he muttered, and suddenly his expression was one of grief.
Edani and himself had been found on a ledge by a team of troopers. Well hardly a team, just three men, and they had saved them from certain death by getting them off the ledge. However, just when the two scientists had been brought to safety, were two men caught by the wind and swept off the cliff. The two had most certainly fallen to their deaths.
"Who are you?" Ayan asked, as the two men stopped before him and revealed their faces. ~human~ Ayan thought, gladly. "My name is Ayan Mai, I am the leader of this archaeological expidition. Have you by any chance found the others? My comlink won't work anymore."

Her arms came up to wrap around him and without putting thought to it she tilted her head a little and kissed his neck. She doubted he had noticed, but it felt good to do… She slowly pulled back and looked at him, smiling softly. “Lay down and rest, if we are to get you to the ship you need to be as strong as you can. I’ll be back soon.”
She then turned and crawled out of the cave, onto the snow that was now as high as the hole itself. As she looked around she didn’t see any sign of the others.
“Commodore? Commander?!” She called out. Nothing. She reached for the trycorder and scanned the area for life signs. Nothing. She lowered it and suddenly it started beeping like mad. Spooked she aimed more carefully. There, to her left. As a cold fear shot through her body she started digging. She remained silent however. She wanted Loskene to sleep. She would call him if there was really big need.

Douglas Joules and Somar were dying. This, they could not deny. They had been wandering for at least a few days. Dehydrated and running out of field rations, they were on their last leg.
Douglas: You may as well admit it now. Logic can't save us. Nothing can.
Somar raised an iced brow.
Somar: I never said such a thing to begin with.
Douglas: I'm getting a little sick and tired of you and your calmness. We're dying! You may as well drop the emotionless drape.
Somar: I am aware of our situation.
Douglas: Well, I refuse to go any further. What is the point of this? You know the minute our ship entered the atmosphere, we were doomed! I'm staying here.
Somar: You will die quicker if you sit there.
Douglas: Maybe heaven is warmer than this. Actually, I wouldn't mind Hell at this point. Magnificent hot springs.
Somar: When we are rescued, you should journey to Vulcan. The Fire springs are quite warm.
Douglas: I can't believe you. How can someone be so stubborn?
Somar: How can one give up hope so easily?
Douglas: Enough of this. Wait...what's that? It...it can't be...
Somar: It looks like two humanoids. They are wearing Federation issue suits.
Douglas: Well, what are we waiting for, let's go!
Somar: I suppose you no longer consider this a futile journey?
Douglas: Yeah, yeah. Whatever. I was beginning to freeze my [word deleted] off anyway. Now, how do we get their attention?
Somar: It appears that we do not need to. They appear to be running in our direction.
Douglas: Thank God. Let's hope they have some food!
After about 5 minutes, the 2 scientists and two Starfleet officers crossed paths.
Man: I'm Commander Matthew, First officer of the USS Jefferson. This is my colleague, Commander Fox of the USS Vesuvius. Would you happen to be survivors of the crash?
Douglas: Yes, yes we are! Can I get some coffee please? Let's get back to your ship!
Fox: I'm afraid it isn't that simple...
Meanwhile, back in the cave...
Loskene began to worry. It had been 15 or 20 minutes since Joni left. He tried to get up but was met with dizzyness.
Loskene: Damn.. What's going on out there?
Loskene sensed something... His telepathy wasn't perceptive as usual because of his weakened lobe, but he could hear a faint cry for help.
<Ugh...Help! Someone! It's so cold...>
Loskene: Sonak.
Loskene tried to communicate with her but he was weak. Nevertheless, he tried.
<Sonak, stay calm... Joni is on the way....>
Loskene: Be careful Joni....Come back safe...

Sitting on her knees, she dug and dug, further into the show with every scoop of the white. She wasn’t sure how long she had been digging now, but it had to be over 15 minutes. She didn’t feel her hands anymore due to the cold and every scoop with her right arm shot a flaming pain though the muscles of her already damaged shoulder. She didn’t feel it, but she saw the white didn’t move when her hand touched it. A parka. Digging fast around the spot she knew she didn’t have a minute to loose.
Ignoring the pain, ignoring the tiredness that was threatening to take her over, she cleared the snow around the motionless form. Biting her lip hard she managed to get her half frozen hands under the armpits of the woman. Using her own body weight and what was left of her muscles she pulled the woman on top of her, on the snow. Then she rolled her over, she lay a few seconds, panting, not sure if she could open her eyes again.
But the fear of what was happening, and the knowledge Sonak must feel much, much worse made her open her eyes again. Locking her hands once more in her armpits, but now from the back, she begun to pull her to the hole. Okay, she just knew that there wouldn’t be an easy way to do this, so she pulled her to the hole the best she could, then slid in and pulled the other woman in. She broke Sonak’s fall with her own body as they fell back. She winched.
“Loskene, come and help me. We need to get her warm and fast.” She watched the man stumble towards her, but she had only eye for the woman right now.
“Check if her Parka isn’t full of water. If it is, it has to go.” In the mean while she checked the tricorder to see. Everything seemed okay, beside her temperature of course.
“It’s slightly wet…” The man answered after checking. Joni cursed. Fast she pulled the jacket off. “Check the rest of her clothes.” Her tone was demanding, not having time for prude-ness.
“The rest if okay, a bit moist.”
Joni nodded and pulled off her own jacket. Feeling was coming back to her hands. That was a good sign, but the stinging and tingling didn’t help to concentrate much.
“Help me.” She said as she pulled up Sonak, letting him put the jacket on her. She then slowly lay down the woman again and fought the cold by beginning to rub her legs though the protective clothing, massaging life back in them he best she could with her hurting hands.
“Use your good hand, massage her, she needs to get warm.” He nodded and begun at once, working on her left arm first. Silence sunk in heavily, only the sound of clothing on clothing broke it with every rub. She could wake up soon. At least Joni hoped. She had done simulations with frozen people of course when she was at the academy studying medicine, but to treat a real person, and one that had gotten close to her this last time, made her unsure of herself.

ooc: little modification as Joni and I posted on the same time:p
She heard the frantic beeping of a tricorder, and the worried shouts of a female voice, but Sonak found it too much effort to raise her own voice in response. It would be a waste of energy. Instead, she focused on the mental image she was receiving. It was a small comfort, as it told her no more than that Loskene was awake, and apparently on the mend.
Yet, there was a more stronger mental link present, and she desperately hung onto that for survival. She cast her fear on both links, to keep her own mind sane. The strong link was Jatan, who had been left behind on the ship, and through him she also sensed her children who had remained in his care. She sighed and winced; the freezing cold was not helping much even though covered in snow she was quite insulated.
She knew, as soon as she was back in the warmth of the cave, she would have to change her clothing, for they would get wet. Dampness was another thing Vulcans were not built for, and she feared that if she caught aspirant pneumonia now, it would be the death of her.
She blinked as suddenly the bright sunlight fell over her. Eyes wide with fear, she gazed into a young face, spots going down either side of it. That was the last she saw before her own system got the better of her and she fainted.
When she woke up, she was sore all over and her skin felt as if it was burning. She groaned and tried to sit up, but she was pushed back down and covered again with a pile of blankets. She found that she was stripped down to her insulation suit only, and she knew that this was probably what had saved her life. Yet, despite the blankets, she was still cold. Her hair was plastered to her face, as the snow that had been frozen into it had thawed out with the warmth of the cave. "How long..." she started, but found herself too drained to finish her prhase. At last she fell back to sleep.

Raiben looked around. The white desert has turned to be quite a prison.
The mountains to his front and probably that was is north was blocking his passign through there.
Raiben pushed on to where the sound probably has comed.
Yet again he heard an alike sound.
"Anybody out there?"he yelled.
A disfigured beast maded out of a cavern nearby. Its nearly a hundred or more meters away.
Raiben searched for cover; but the snow only allowed him to stay in position.
The creature turned towards Raiben and gived out a cry and started running with his three feets towards Raiben.
Raiben drawed out his hand phaser and waited for the right time, and fired.
The phaser shot hit the creatures head or probably the head. Raiben jumped out of the creatures way as it continued its way. And then the motionless body stoped after a few ten meters.
Raiben looked towards the sky, probably a strom is coming. He started to make a warm tent from the dead creatures body.

OFF: Good luck Raiben. Remember to hold your nose. They smell bad... ON: Loskene ran over as quickly as he could to Sonak. Kel: Try and keep her awake. I'll try to warm up her parka. Loskene began to massage Sonak's neck and shoulders. He had learned that the neck was a sensitive place and was going to put test into practice. Loskene felt her neck. It was freezing cold. Loskene: Sigh...Commodore, always the brave one, I see. Well, it seems like we could all use a little shore leave when this is all over. Maybe Risa....or better yet, Vulcan. The thought of a glaring sun is glorious. Loskene knew that Sonak was unconcious, or sleeping, but he continued to talk, as it made him less nervous. Loskene: The first thing I'm going to do when I get back, is sit down and read a detective novel... I've read several Agatha Christie novels, as well as Doyles. Humans may have a more primitive brain then us telepaths, but their creativity more then makes up for it. After that...I have to pay a visit to the counselors office. Crew evaluations are due by next week. Loskene began to lightly grin. Loskene: Sigh... I could go for some raktajino... Even if I don't require caffeine, I still enjoy the taste. Good news for the night vision impared, dawn is coming. I'm sure you will appreciate that. Kel: You know, you'd make a good counselor. Loskene: You think so? Kel: Well... Maybe not as good as me, but there is potential. Loskene: Ha. Don't forget your place, ensign. Kel: How would you like a mouthful of snow? Loskene thought it over... Kel: Didn't think so. Loskene began to chuckle. Kel: How is she? Loskene: She appears to be getting warmer... But I can't speak for her. Massaging her won't stop hypothermia from setting in...

Sonak moved a little, as feeling came back into her cold limbs. Slowly, she took in a deep breath and coughed as the cold air burned in her lungs. Then, she opened her eyes one by one, and found herself staring in the faces of Joni and Loskene. Confused, she sat up, supported by Loskene who wrapped the blanket tightly around her. She held it tightly closed on the front, suddenly very much aware that she wasn't exactly wearing much. "What happened?" she asked, as she tried to remember why exactly she was so cold and wet. She looked around. "Where is L'Ola?"
Sunlight was seeping in through the hole in the ice, reflecting off the icy walls of the cave, making them sparkle like diamonds. She squinted, but quickly her eyes adjusted to the brightness. "Why am I wet?" she finally asked, still not remembering.
