Nika paused long enough after talking to Blakus to pass on the information that it had been a plasma grenade and Lieutenant Blakus thought he had a suspect to Davis before continuing on toward the core room. Unfortunately she did not get to have much of a say in the matter, as Commander Sharp ordered her transport back to the Victory.
She materialized on the bridge, still frowning at the abrupt manner in which she had been forced to leave. Nika really didn't want to leave the Kavris with the impression that she was...less than fully committed to the peace process. Or that she thought she was actually in any danger.
“Wong,” Nika said, noticing the marine about to leave the bridge. “Good to have you back.” She nodded at him, as he left to gather his marine contingent and join Sharp on the base.
“Any news from Commander Galwyn or Lieutenant Keran on Valnot?” Nika asked Davis. “Have they reported any difficulties?”
They hadn't, but Nika still wanted to keep a careful eye on them. It probably wasn't necessary to recall them back from the moon, but Nika didn't want to take unnecessary risks. The political situation on Valnot might be different than the base, but the base was supposed to be the more stable of the two.
=/\=This is Captain Cir'Kem to Lieutenant Keran=/\=Nika said, and explained what had happened with the plasma grenade. =/\=We have some injured that I'm sure the other medical staff can take care of if necessary, and I'm not going to order you to return to the ship, but you might want to consider it=/\= Nika suggested.

Tiana was in the main lab put the the finishing touches to her survey series when the Captain's comm came.
=/\=This is Captain Cir'Kem to all members of the away teams, please report to transporter room two=/\= Tiana quickly rechecked her bag and gathering Martha and Tomal headed for the transporter room.
She and B'reca were beaming down to Valnot, the more militaristic of the two inhabited moons. She had a phaser with her and there was a securitry team accompanying them but she still felt a bit of unease about beaming down. Maybe it was because the majority of Valnot's own scientists had left the place.
She and the doctor beamed down. B'reca was rushed off in to the main hospital almost immediately leaving Tiana to do her ground based survey. She noted the background radiation spike immediately. It was high but it wasn't anything to worry about unless they spent days on the world.
=/\=Lt Keran to Cmdr Galwyn. How are you doing, Tiana? Have your scans picked up anything useful?=/\= Tiana tagged her comm badge in response.
=/\=Not really, the background radiation level is still high but not harmful, and there's some kappa radiation mixed in with the more normal stuff, again not at dangerous levels though.=/\= Tiana said =/\=Is everything all right your end?=/\=

"Make this quick Ensign, I need to get back over there..." Blakus was trying to be patient with the junior medical officer. He wished B'reca were there to do the check-up, he was sure his klingon friend would have it done in half the time that this ensign was taking.
"Be patient, sir," the female ensign told him, "I need to check that there is no serious damage to your right thigh. You said you felt pain there?"
"Yes," Blakus said testily, "But it doesn't feel to bad."
She did a few scans of his right thigh using her medical tricorder and..., "Well Lieutenant you're right, it isn't that bad," she smiled at him. Blakus saw that she understood his impatience and that she was more than tolerant of it, his outlook towards her changed. "And I've healed the muscle strains," she continued, "But you may still need to walk it off."
Blakus softened, "Well, thanks." He said. He gave a small shrug and went to leave sickbay, he glanced back and smiled at her as he walked through the retracting door. It was only when he reached the transporter room that he realised, he could have just beamed himself straight back to the station directly from sickbay. Why had he forgotten that??
The glow of the transporter faded and he was back on the station. Lieutenant Holland and Ensign Bligh were in the room performing the clear up op. of the explosion debris. "Lieutenant, Ensign." Blakus acknowledged his engineers with a nod. "How did you escape the wrath of the Tac/Sec Chief?" Holland chuckled which surprised Blakus slightly.
"He's letting us remain to assist in the clear up, he told us you were due to report back here anyway," Bligh said.
Seeing that Holland and Bligh were dealing with the wreckage, Blakus left them to it for the time being and pulled out his tricorder. He ran a brief scan of the power core and breathed a sigh of relief when finished. "No lasting damage to the core," he stated, "Lucky really. If the explosion had been closer..." he got that shiver again. The bare thought of the grenade going off in this of all rooms was frightening enough. But it had happened in here. If Blakus had considered all of this during the explosion he probably would have cowered in fear.
"Sir?" Blakus was shaken out of his thoughts.
"Yes lieutenant?" he asked what Holland wanted.
"I've discovered something which may be a cause for concern." Blakus asked what the problem was. "Well, upon performing scans of the wreckage we have determined that the explosive device was a Type III Hakosa-Model Plasma Grenade."
"Yes..?" Blakus was wondering where Holland was going with this.
"The arms developers Hakosa, supply wargear exclusively to the state military of Valnot." Holland put particular emphasis on the last few words and looked intensely at Blakus. The practically non-existent lighting in the room cast deep shadows everywhere. Blakus' dark eyes were not at all visible. Thick tension thronged itself around the three men, the room felt heavy with it. This is insane... Blakus thought darkly.
"What does this mean sir...?" Bligh asked, as if the question needed to be asked.
"It means...," Blakus steadied his voice, "It means, that the away teams on Valnot may be in trouble." He tapped his commbadge instantly upon finishing the sentence, =/\=Victory, Blakus. I strongly advise you withdraw the away teams from Valnot.=/\=
<Tag: Cir'kem and/or Davis>
Turning to less dire thoughts, Blakus contacted Commander Sharp. =/\= Sharp, this is Blakus. I am back on the station, in the core room. Blakus out.=/\=

Tiberian moved around to the tactical station as reports came in from all the varying away teams, apparently concerning the common thread of an explosion. He worked the console, co-ordinating the beaming back of the surviving members of all the absent away teams. Suddenly a communique came through.
=^=Sharp to Wong get a marine detachment and meet me at the explosion site.=^=
Tiberian smiled, obviously his arrival had not gone as unnoticed as he had been led to believe.
=/\=Wong to Sharp. I'll beam down with a marine team shortly. In the meantime try and keep a defensive perimeter. Don't go running off until you have backup=/\=
He gestured to Martinez.
"Sergeant Major, I want a twenty man team prepped for urban combat in transporter room one in five minutes. Go" He turned to Katie.
"Katie, you may as well go down to sickbay and help. If the CMO isn't there, ask for Doctor Kapoor, he'll take care of you"
The doctor left, followed by Tiberian, who was suddenly halted by the Captain, a sight for sore eyes.
“Wong,” Nika said, noticing the marine about to leave the bridge. “Good to have you back.”
"Good to be back ma'am" Tiberian answered with a smile as he entered the turbolift. "Armoury"
~Five minutes later~
Tiberian ran into the transporter room, now wearing a flak jacket and backpack, and carrying a phaser rifle across his chest. Many of the men stood and came across to greet him, with one PFC even moving to shake his hand, all obviously happy to see him back. He smiled and shook them off.
"Alright, we've got a group of very unhappy people throwing plasma grenades at our officers, so be alert. We are here to help them though, so phasers on stun, and try to resist the will to shoot at everyone. Alpha team, load up"
The first group of ten led by Tiberian loaded up onto the transporter platform. Tiberian called out.
"Jose, follow straight away with the second group. Energise when ready Mr Tallows"
The team felt the embrace of a transporter beam, and moments later appeared in a dimly lit, not to mention bomb damaged area of the station. The team fanned out, checking the area as the second group beamed in. Tiberian lowered his phaser rifle as he approached a Starfleet Commander in gold.
"Commander Sharp I presume? Lieutenant Colonel Wong, the new SMO, as you seem to already know. So what happened here?"
<TAG Sharp>
"Right then. Sergeant Major, get the men dispersed and form a perimeter at about four or five sections out. Nothing in or out"
"Yes sir. Alpha company, fan out" Jose went to action in his true style, spreading the men out to establish a perimeter.
"If the marines keep the engineers secure, can your Starfleet security boys go around the rest of the station and look for the culprit?"
<TAG Sharp>
A communication came through for the Commander, informing him that a Lieutenant Blakus, presumably another staff member, was back in the core room.
"Well, how about we start by taking a look in there?" Tiberian asked with a smile.

=/\=Energise=/\= Upon Blakus' command the last of the wreckage from the explosion was beamed to the cargo bay on Victory. He sighed as it disappeared from view. "Right, good job people." He congratulated the worn out group of engineering officers and technicians.
"Sir, if I may." Lieutenant Holland caught Blakus slightly offguard and took him aside. Blakus nodded at Holland, indicating that he could go ahead. "I've just received word that the SMO is bringing his marine's over," the junior lieutenant explained.
"Ohh, great." Blakus muttered.
Holland continued, "After what we have learned, I thought you ought to know."
"This isn't a good idea," Blakus said, "The last thing we need is a group of soldiers walking around pointing their rifles at people. This situation is bad enough already." Blakus pushed these problems out of his head for the time-being, and focussed on his own job at hand.
"Now," he addressed the half-score of men and women, "We need to reestablish the reserve power, so the station is ready for full activation." Blakus wasn't expecting any complaints, and in fact, all of his staff looked ready for more. He continued, "Holland get your group up to the core interface, I know the gantry's been blown away-"
Blakus' sentence was cut short by the arrival of Commander Sharp and someone he hadn't seen before, wearing a marine's uniform, they were standing in the doorway to the room. Sharp seemed to signify who Blakus was and Blakus promptly approached the two of them, with Lieutenant Holland by his side. It was only then that he noticed the marine's rank insignia and he saluted. "Sir, Lieutenant Blakus." He introduced himself. "I assume your'e the senior marine officer. I heard that you were coming back." Sharp introduced him as Lt. Col Tiberian Wong.
Blakus sighed tiredly, "Well Colonel... as you can see we've completed the clean-up operation, the plasma grenade exploded on the lower level. I've lost two men with another recovering in sickbay. We're now trying to get the station back up and running." Blakus laughed a little in-spite of himself, "And it hasn't even been properly activated yet," he said dryly. He put a question to the SMO, "If I may Colonel, what are your intentions aboard this station?"
<Tag: Wong>
"I see," the CEO uttered. Oh dear... he thought. "Sir, I would like to request that you and your marines do not act too hastily. My team have found evidence that the explosive was Valnot army standard-issue. The man who did this is probably affiliated with the Valnot armed forces in some way."

"Well Chief" Tiberian began slowly, already sensing the engineer's dislike for the presence of heavily armed men in the workplace "My intentions are to protect your team, make sure that we can all complete our mission, and either arrest or shoot whoever attempts to get in the way of that. That final point is somewhat hazy to me, so I'll probably wing it as we go along" He smiled.
"I see," the CEO uttered "Sir, I would like to request that you and your marines do not act too hastily. My team have found evidence that the explosive was Valnot army standard-issue. The man who did this is probably affiliated with the Valnot armed forces in some way."
"Don't worry Lieutenant" Tiberian began again, clapping the engineer on the arm "I generally only shoot to wound anyway. My men will keep a perimeter a few sections outside of the core room, and everything inside of that should be free of all but our people. Is that enough room for you to start working in?"
<TAG Blakus>
Tiberian walked away and tapped his commbadge as soon as he was by himself.
=/\=Wong to Captain Cir'Kem. Ma'am, we have reason to believe that the Valnot armed forces are involved in the explosion over here. I'd like permission to leave Commander Sharp in charge down here and then lead a second marine contingent down to the second away team site=/\=
<TAG Captain Cir'Kem>
He motioned to Sharp and Jose.
"Commander, I'm heading over to Valnot to keep an eye on the second away team. My marines are entirely at your disposal. Sergeant major martinez, make yourself fully available to Commander Sharp. Don't hesitate to contact me if you need anything at all"
<TAG Sharp>
Tiberian rematerialised on the Victory, only to be greeted by an already assembled twenty man marine team. He then was immediately escorted to sickbay, where he was greeted by the sight of a nearly endless corridor of wounded officers. He fought his way through until he saw a medical Lieutenant in a side room that matched the computer's description of the CMO.
"Lieutenant Keran?" He ventured "I'm Lieutenant Colonel Wong, the new SMO. Me and some men are here to keep an eye on you, if you'll have us" He added with a smile.

My men will keep a perimeter a few sections outside of the core room, and everything inside of that should be free of all but our people. Is that enough room for you to start working in?"
Andae was surprised at Colonel Wong. He had been expecting gruffness, uncompromising attitude, much like the SMO instructor on the Hepta. There was that in him, but he had friendliness to go with it. "Plenty room sir, thankyou," Blakus replied. He couldn't help but feel a little disappointed that Wong seemed to be receptive to Blakus' concerns. He didn't consciously want it, but a little competition was where Blakus tended to do his better work. Wong then contacted the Captain and left for Valnot, leaving Commander Sharp in charge of the marines.
"That went well sir." Holland pointed out to Blakus after Wong had beamed away.
"Mmm," Blakus grunted, "Better than I wanted it to be." Holland cocked his head and frowned at Blakus' odd comment. "Let's get on with this then." The CEO and his assistant chief continued with the coordination of the work teams. "People," Blakus picked up where he left off before Wong's arrival, "I want half of you working the core, the rest will spread out to the immediate sub-stations. Hopefully we can get power transfer working at a better efficiency rate. Proceed." Five of the engineers moved off towards the core's control board and the core itself. Of the other five, three left the room and headed to the three primary junctions around the core.
"Ensign Bligh, you're with me" Blakus said to the only other unassigned engineer. He pointed up, "We're going to use that access tunnel," he said, "To get to the core's tertiary interface. We need to find out about that missing power consumption," he added the last bit quietly.
The access tunnel was even more cramped than starfleet Jeffries' Tubes. "I can barely move in here," Bligh confirmed Blakus' suspicion that the access tunnel was too small. The two came within sight of the tertiary interface which was in a small room at the end of the tunnel. Upon seeing who was in that room Blakus scrambled forward very quickly. That's him! he thought in alarm, "Sir, what's happening?" Bligh asked as he scrambled along on hands and knees behind his chief.
"It's Lhoy, the terrorist!!" Blakus yelled, he jumped and rolled out of the tunnel. Lhoy had already seen them and had attempted to open up the hatch to another access tunnel, a bid to escape. Andae Blakus leapt across the length of the small room clenching his fists together, he brought them down on the back of Lhoy's head. The Kavrisian went down with a grunt, he rolled slowly on to his back and Blakus saw that he was semi-unconscious. Blakus pulled out his phaser, at least, he would've if he had had one. Lucky I got him with one hit.. he thought. Bligh clambered into the small box-room.
"Is it him?" he asked. Blakus nodded. Bligh moved for his commbadge.
"Wait! Who are you contacting?" Blakus stopped him.
"Commander Sharp..."
"Don't do that yet." Blakus told him hurriedly. It wouldn't do any good to contact security at this point. Sharp would just bring his men in and I probably won't see this terrorist again, he thought. Blakus did want Lhoy to pay for what he had done, but he wasn't going to let his anger overtake him, he had to get answers. "I want to talk to him.." Blakus wiped his brow in exhaustion, his first 'fight' on active service seemed to have taken all of his energy. The lieutenant and his ensign lifted Lhoy into a sitting position against the wall. "Lhoy, can you hear me?" Blakus began. He wasn't sure if the station's 'engineer' had heard him or not. "Lhoy??"
"What?" groaned Lhoy.
Blakus leapt on his chance, "Who are you working for? Valnot military? If not, why did you do this? And, and what's the extra core power being used for?" Lhoy didn't reply for a while. But then,
"None of your business."
Blakus sighed, and went for the next best option. =/\=Victory, this is Blakus. I've found our man, sir. Would you please beam him directly to the brig?=/\=

"Col. keep me informed on whats going on over there"
As Sharp was going to go searching the base he hears a commotion from the other room. Sharp and Martinez go into the core room. Blakus is questioning someone and contacts the victory for transport to the victory. =^="Sharp to Victory delay that order on transport to the brig."=^= "Martinez secure the prisoner." Martinez goes over and secures the prisoner.
Blackus looks stunned when he wasn't transported to the ship. " Blakus what on earth do you think you are doing?

"Martinez take the prisoner to a secure location and interrogate him and if you find out anything report either to me or col. Wong and I want 10 of your best men to come with me while we search this station from top to bottom."
As Sharp and the Marines search the station Sharp enters a room and the door shuts behind him and as he moves farther into the room gets hit in the back of the head. and then is beamed off the station. 30 seconds later the marines have cut through the door and notices no one is in the room. =^=Jones to Col. =/\=Not really, the background radiation level is still high but not harmful, and there's some kappa radiation mixed in with the more normal stuff, again not at dangerous levels though.=/\= Tiana said =/\=Is everything all right your end?=/\=
"That depends on your definition of 'all right'" B'reca replied. "There are thousands of critically ill patients in this hospital alone. This wasn't exactly what I had in mind for my first mission." Of course, neither was being thrown forwards in time by a childish omnipotent being. B'reca was beginning to think that she was infected with bad luck.
"Just my luck," B'reca muttered. She took a look around at the hospital beds, full of patients that she could do nothing for. Much as it pained her to admit it, she would be a lot more useful back on the Victory, where she would at least be able to do something about her wounded crewmates.
After ordering the rest of her medical team to continue their work on Valnot, B'reca beamed back up to the ship and headed to Sickbay, not sure what she expected to find. As soon as the doors opened to let her in, B'reca wondered whether she should have stayed on the planet. Half of Blakus's away team were here, with injuries varying from light scratches to wounds that would require operation.
"You two," she ordered, pointing at two of her doctors whose names momentarily escaped her. "Take care of the lightly wounded so I can get them out of my sickbay." It was obvious that her staff had ignored those with light scratches in favour of the more badly wounded, but they were taking up space and probably needed to get back to duty.
Snapping into Authority mode, she quickly found the most heavily wounded patient and grabbed the scanner from the nurse who was tending to him. For the next hour or so, she moved from patient to patient, making sure that her staff were handling them correctly and helping them with their work when it was obvious that they needed someone to tell them what to do. They were competent enough, she decided, but in situations like this, they needed their CMO. She was glad she'd come back here rather than staying on the planet.
As soon as she stepped away to take a break, she was approached by an intimidating looking human. "Lieutenant Keran?" He ventured "I'm Lieutenant Colonel Wong, the new SMO. Me and some men are here to keep an eye on you, if you'll have us" He added with a smile.
B'reca put forward an arm in human tradition and shook hands with Lt Wong. He had a firm handshake, whatever that meant. Probably that she could trust him. "I appreciate your offer, Lieutenant," she said, aware that tiredness was probably creeping into her voice and making her sound impatient and rude. "But why would I need a marine guard? I'm a doctor, and Sickbay is a safe haven for the sick and wounded."

Tiberian smiled at the CMO, acknowledging that for the time being her statement made sense.
"We're not going to be protecting you up here doctor, it's for when we get down to the hospital on Valnot again. The incident with the plasma grenade, which you're probably aware of considering your treating its casualties, was possibly at the behest of the Valnot military. From what you've seen of the people down there, what's your appraisal of the situation"
<TAG Lieutenant Keran>
Suddenly, a communique came in over the comm link.
=^=Jones to Col. Wong we were searching the base base with Commander Sharp he went into a room the doors shut behind him and when we entered no one was in the room.=^=
=/\=People don't just disappear corporal, can your tricorders detect any recent transporter activity?=/\=
=/\=Negative sir, but there is a thoron particle leak coming from somewhere, it's interfering with our scans=/\=
Tiberian swore loudly, much to the consternation of some of the medical officers around him. He rubbed his one real eye, and scratched his artificial one before continuing.
=/\=Alright corporal, stand fast. Secure a perimeter around that room, and get Lieutenant Blakus and his team down there with you right now. Everyone stays together, and the second anything suspicious happens, you get everyone to beam back to the Vic, no arguments. Wong out=/\=
He turned to the doctor.
"Doctor Keran, when you're done here and you head back to Valnot, take my marine team with you. I'll send additional personnel, but if anything happens at all, you comm me, ok"
As he walked away, he grabbed Gunnery Sergeant Hightower by the arm.
"If the Valnot military turn up and start throwing their weight around, you get her and her team out of there, no matter what they say. They're our priority, not the Valnot civilians"
He walked on, and tapped his commbadge.
=/\=Wong to Lieutenant Malloy, if you're still the Assistant CTSO, get down to sickbay and supervise my marine team with the doctor. Wong out=/\=
~Back on the station~
Tiberian walked into the room where all the officers where holed up, being greeted by Blakus and Martinez.
"Ok Lieutenant, can you tell me any more about what happened here?" Tiberian asked Blakus.
<TAG Blakus>
Tiberian sighed and hit his commbadge, fearing that things were going to get worse as the day drew on.
=/\=Wong to bridge. It would appear that Commander Sharp has disappeared without explanation. Please advise as to how you want us to continue down here=/\=

=^=Sharp to Victory belay that order on transport to the brig.=^= "Martinez secure the prisoner." Blakus was stunned, he'd taken steps to stop this from happening, but now it all was. He watched as Martinez strode over and secured Lhoy, As if he needs securing... Blakus thought bitterly. The Victory had told him to move Lhoy into an area where the transporters would penetrate. It had turned out that they could not get through to the adjacent substation, so Blakus and Bligh had dragged him through to the core room.
"Blakus what on earth do you think you are doing?"
"Sir?" Blakus asked, still disbelieving that it had happened.
"Next time Blakus when you get a prisoner contact me or the security team not handle this yourself now get back to your duty Lt." Blakus sighed inside,
"Yes, sir," he acknowledged, and wasn't afraid to hide the resentment in his words.
“-he won’t even give us his name.” Blakus caught a part of Martinez’s reply to Sharp.
He twirled around towards Martinez and Sharp, “His name,” Blakus said, “Is Lhoy.” Sharp ignored him and said,
“Martinez take the prisoner to a secure location and interrogate him and if you find out anything report to either me or Colonel Wong and I want 10 of your best men to come with me while we search this station from top to bottom.” Martinez nodded and with the help of a security man took Lhoy out of room and out of Blakus’ sight. The CEO was about to tell Sharp some more of what he knew but stopped himself. What would be the point? He felt so helpless in front of the strong-arm tactics of the security personnel and marines.
“Don’t worry sir,” Blakus glanced briefly to his right, he had forgotten that Ensign Bligh was there, as well as the other three engineers in the room who had stopped to watch the commotion. “Sharp knows what he’s doing.” Bligh continued, “If you don’t mind me saying sir, I’ve been on this ship longer than you, I know the senior staff personally.”
Blakus only paid half of his attention to Bligh, “Hmm,” he grunted thinking about Sharp ordering Martinez to take Lhoy to a secure area. “This was supposed to be a secure area…” the frustrated CEO grumbled. Sharp left the room to meet with the search party of marines.
15 minutes later…
“Lieutenant Blakus, this is Marine Corporal Jones, come in.” Blakus frowned and looked up from his work, he tapped his commbadge.
“Blakus here Corporal, what do you need?”
“By order of Colonel Wong you are to bring yourself and your team to level 5, section 12, room 2/A, immediately.”
“Why?”
“Commander Sharp has disappeared, the Colonel wants everyone together. Also we’ve detected traces of thoron particles, we need your help on that.”
Oh no… Blakus thought, it was not a promising situation, everything had spiralled out of control for him, and it looked to be getting worse. He rounded up his team and they all went down to level 5. On the way he noted that the station’s own security personnel were manning entrances and exits. Everyone including the Kavrisians were on a high state of alert. “Sergeant Major!” Blakus spotted the senior marine upon entering the moderately sized chamber, his 9 engineers flooded into the room after him. Blakus ran up to him with Lieutenant Holland. “I’ve heard we’ve detected thoron radiation,” Blakus said to Martinez, “As I’m sure you’re aware thoron particles can be used to confuse and jam sensors.” Blakus made a connection in his head, “It must be related to the masking of some of the main core’s power utilisation.”
Colonel Wong appeared from nowhere. “Ok lieutenant can you tell me more of what happened here?” Blakus explained what had happened thus far and then said,
“I haven’t yet had time to analyse a possible source for the thorons but if I had to hazard a guess I would say somebody was trying to mask a transporter beam-out.” Wong contacted Victory for advice on how to proceed.

=/\=Victory, Blakus. I strongly advise you withdraw the away teams from Valnot.=/\=
Nika nodded in acknowledgment of Blakus' advice. =/\=What do you think the danger is?=/\= she asked. She certainly hoped Blakus had a good explanation for why the away team on Valnot needed to be brought back to the Victory,
His answer was that the Valnot military appeared to have been involved in the grenade explosion. Since the science and medical teams were working alongside Valnot citizens and generally helping out, Nika didn't think it that likely that Valnot personnel would threaten Victory crew. Plus, this was a delicate diplomatic situation and there was the definite chance that withdrawing immediately from Valnot would send a dangerous message.
When Wong mentioned that he wanted to lead a second marine contingent down to the second away team site, Nika agreed. It would allow the medical teams to continue to give aid without any unnecessary risk for the Victory personnel. Regardless of any...unproven suspicions Nack had had against Wong, Nika thought that having a contingent of marines would actually make the situation less volatile.
Apparently that wasn't the way things were actually going to go, however. =/\=Wong to bridge. It would appear that Commander Sharp has disappeared without explanation. Please advise as to how you want us to continue down here=/\=
Nika didn't like the sound of Sharp's disappearance, and she needed more information, but she wasn't going to get it, which meant she'd have to make the decision knowing what she did know. She didn't suppose it could be as simple as Sharp simply having left to investigate some anomaly and forgetting to check in, and the presence of thoron particles confirmed that guess.
=/\=See if Blakus can come up with a way to trace the transporter beam and continue any investigation=/\= Nika said, already knowing it to have only a remote chance of working. =/\=Your top concern should be for the personnel still on the base. I'm going to try to see what I can do=/\= A pause, then Nika decided she should get Wong's opinion. =/\=Do you think Vanlot is behind this as well?=/\=
<Tag Wong>
=/\=I see.=/\= Nika replied, and, after another second's worth of thoughts, closed the comm channel.
“I'll be in my ready-room,” Nika said, and Commander Davis watched her departure rather concernedly. In her ready-room, Nika had quickly come to the realization that she needed to do something, but her options were unfortunately rather limited.
She hadn't talked much with the Pellians yet, because there hadn't been time. But since all signs seemed to point to the Valnot as being responsible for everything that had gone wrong, it might be well within the Victory's—and Sharp's—interest to talk to Valnot's rival.
She opened a channel to Pelli, and, after introducing herself, Nika found herself talking to a member of the Pelli parliament.
“One of my officers has been kidnapped,” Nika said. “From the neutral base, which I believe was supposed to be being jointly monitored by yourselves and the Valnot.” Sometimes the fact that neither side trusted each other could be quite helpful.
“Yes,” replied the MP. “But we were monitoring for anything outside the station that would approach it, rather than transporter beams and the like.”
“Nonetheless,” Nika replied, “Your readings could turn out to have helpful information included.”
“If you think we can help, we would be happy to. I'll transmit the readings to your ship.”
“Thank you,” Nika said. As soon as she'd confirmed that the readings had been sent, Nika had a repeat of the same conversation with a member of the military government of Valnot. The discussion ended with a similar agreement that she could see the readings, but Nika found the Valnot general to be less gracious throughout the process than the elected member of Pelli had been.
Then all that remained was to run a comparison of the two readings, along with the ones the Victory would have gathered, and see if there were any significant varying points. The thoron would undoubtedly obfuscate any chance of using a single reading to pinpoint the source of the transporter beam, but with multiple readings the chances of success significantly improved. And if whoever had abducted Sharp had changed their readings before passing them on to the Victory, that would be very obvious.
Now that she had the readings, Nika set the ship's computer to run an analysis, and, since it would take a while, she returned to the bridge to wait for word from the away teams, the computer, or anyone else.

Tiana completed her scans on Valnot, the place made her feel uneasy but she had so far found nothing to pin that unease to. She beamed back up the the Victory to continue with her analysis while the rest of her team took more data.
She found contained chaos, it seemed that a grenade had gone off and Lieutenant Blakus had been injured and worse Commander Sharp seemed to have gone missing (again). Tiana wondered idly if he made a habit of this. She headed back to the bridge and listened to the gossip going round. In her absence it seemed that a new SMO had arrived. Tiana sighed quietly as she got on with her work. Both the Captain and Russell were on the bridge, both were silent. She did manage to catch Russ's eye and give him a smile though. She was sure that if there was something specific they wanted her to look at they would tell her, the atmosphere on the bridge was very tense, unsurprising really and Tiana got on in silence.

Andae had just about finished his analysis of the thoron particles, it was a good job that he had it done relatively quickly. The particles had decayed rather rapidly. "Colonel Wong," he called out for the SMO's attention, "I'm finished here." Blakus stared at his tricorder's results, they were well fitting with his suspicions. Wong approached. "From the results of my analysis sir, it seems certain that there was a transporter beam-out. The residual is quite faint, but I am fairly certain."
<Tag: Wong>
"I can't ascertain the destination of the transporter," Blakus continued, "That's near impossible from here. Perhaps from the Victory... but they may still struggle due to the thoron radiation." Blakus bit his lip, he was mildly frustrated that he couldn't do more.
Lieutenant Holland (Blakus' assistant chief) spoke, "It would also seem from the analysis" he interjected, "That the size of the transporter beam would indicate more than one person in the matter stream. There may have been someone in here waiting for Commander Sharp."
"Indeed." Blakus confirmed.
<Tag: Wong>
He was pleased at how Lieutenant Holland had come to accept him, and at how well they were working together. Although, Blakus noted, Holland still couldn't resist adding his own input to the conversation. Blakus wiped his brow, it was becoming increasingly hot in the room with the combined body heats of over 20 Starfleet and marine personnel.
Blakus crouched down to his previous position of analysing the main source of the thorons near to where the wall met the floor. It was obvious that this was where the beam out had occurred. But why? Why only on the floor? Unless he was knocked down or out first... Blakus decided he would do some more analysis before reporting his latest conjectural findings to Colonel Wong.. The CEO knuckled down to his work, this mystery had to be solved, and Andae Blakus was just playing his part.

Russell looked at the marine who had introduced himself at Lieutenant Colonel Wong. “Welcome aboard Colonel, I think you are just in time as we seem to be having a few explosions against one of our away teams” Russell checked the bridge and was surprised when Sharp’s comm. came through, Russell left Tiberian to his duties as he went round to check on the other away team. As Russell lifted his head to see what the commotion was about he was mildly shocked to see that the Captain was back aboard. He was thankful that Robert had stuck to the captain and had thrown her back onto the ship with all the trouble that was starting to boil. The rest of the bridge staff shared Russell concern, Russell watched as the captain after hearing about the lose of Commander Sharp. ‘is it me or does that guy get captured a lot, I must remind myself never to put Tiana and him in a group’ Walking around the bridge Russell started gathering the various reports that were floating around and took his seat left of the command chair to read though them. Unsurprising other than the mishaps on the base there was little of interest elsewhere, the only missing report was from science but Russell assumed that he would get that when Tiana got back to the bridge. As if that had been a summons Tiana arrived on the bridge from the turbo lift, standing up to go and speak to her he was surprised when she darted past him to the science station, “Something wrong commander?” Russell asked hoping his day was not going to get any worse, as Tiana turned around he saw the surprise in her face. As she confirmed nothing was wrong and that their scans were not showing up anything worrying Russell began to think things might just start to settle down. “Well that is good to hear” taking her arm lightly he drew her off to one side and began to speak “So everything is ok right? I expect you have heard all that has happened while you have been away?” <Tag Tiana> As Russell listened to Tiana respond he heard a angry beeping coming from the science station and then the officer at the station shouted “Tiana, you might want to see this!” Russell was caught between worry because the young science officer had said that with a note of panic, and the XO side of him saying that she had called a superior officer by their first name on the bridge. Moving over to let Tiana dash to the Science station the Captain made her way out of her Ready room and onto the bridge, Russell started to move to speak to her when the entire bridge rocked as if hit. Both he and Nika began to ask what had happened but before either of them could get a word out most of the consoles on the bridge began sending off sparks or clear out exploding. As the scene on the bridge settled and everyone started making sure everyone was alright, Tiana got up and turned to both Russell and Nika. “What just happened?” was all Russell could say. <Tag Tiana / ALL> (OOC: please see ship status thread to see how the vic is

Tiana was quietly collating her scans, the Victory had finished with the planet and the station now and was moving on to the surrounding space. It was slightly dull but it was the bread and butter of science officers. "Something wrong commander?" Russ asked her.
Tiana turned in surprise, there was absolutely nothing out of the ordinary to report as she went on to say.
"Well that is good to hear" Tiana broke into a smile. Taking her arm lightly Russ drew her off to one side and began to speak "So everything is ok right? I expect you have heard all that has happened while you have been away?" Tiana nodded in response and mentioned the things she had heard so far. "I hope Commander Sharp is all right." she finished. Just then there was a beeping from the science console, Tiana tried to remember if there was anything she had set an alarm for but nothing came to mind.
"Tiana, you might want to see this!" It took Tiana a second to recognise the voice of Lieutenant Palmer as it was edged in panic. She hurried back to the console. Her mind just had time to register what was on the screen and clutch the console before the ship shook people were thrown about. Then the consoles on the bridge started sparking and exploding. Tiana was thrown to the floor as Lt Palmer crashed into her.
Tiana got to her feet, she turned to face the Captain and FO (now was definitely not the time to be thinking of him as Russ). She knew they would want to know what had happened and she only had a partial explaination to give. She swallowed, her mouth suddenly dry, she hated to be the bearer of bad news...
"What just happened?" Russell asked
"We were hit by a full spectrum EM pulse-wave combined with a coronal ejection. Karvis's star has suddenly destabilised. I'm not quiet sure how." She turned back to her station checking the still displayed data "I estimate that we have 15-20 hours before it goes into first stage collapse."
Tiana felt like collapsing herself as she delivered this message, she had never seen anything quite like this before.

Seeing that she wasn't likely to win this argument, B'reca reluctantly agreed to take the marines. "Thank you for your offer," she replied. "I didn't learn much about the politics on Valnot while I was there - they took me straight to the hospital when I arrived. To be honest, I couldn't give a damn who's killing who - it's me that has to patch up the survivors, no matter who gets blown up."
Before the Colonel could reply, he was distracted by a communication. B'reca waited patiently until he was finished dealing with it, despite the urge to get back to work that itched under her skin.
"Doctor Keran, when you're done here and you head back to Valnot, take my marine team with you. I'll send additional personnel, but if anything happens at all, you comm me, ok"
Feeling a little bit like a yoyo, B'reca headed back into Sickbay to see whether she was needed for anything else before she went back down to Valnot. Her staff seemed to have everything under control, so she traipsed back to the transporter room, Marine guards in tow.
A Marine Lieutenant was waiting for her by the transporter. "Lt Malloy," he said by way of introduction. "I'm here to supervise the marines guarding you."
"Very well," B'reca said, stepping onto the platform. "It's not as if I'll need them, after all." The transporter room blurred into a fuzzy mist, and she found herself back on Valnot, inside the "office" she'd created for herself in the hospital. One of her doctors was standing by to give her a report, and B'reca started walking, motioning for the doctor to follow.
"What's the situation?" she asked. "We're doing our best, but there are too many patients," the doctor replied. "We need to train the local doctors to use our equipment and bring a good deal more supplies to this planet." "It's a moon," B'reca reminded him. "And I'm aware of the problem, but we're going to have to deal with it. What progress have you made since I left?"
Before the doctor could answer, they were both grabbed and pulled to the side. B'reca bit down on the hand that was clamped over her mouth and struggled as much as she could, but her captor was too strong. She could hear the marines running to their rescue and was briefly aware of phaser fire before something was injected into her and the world blurred, then went dark.

=/\=See if Blakus can come up with a way to trace the transporter beam and continue any investigation. Your top concern should be for the personnel still on the base. I'm going to try to see what I can do. Do you think Vanlot is behind this as well?=/\=
Tiberian bit on his lip as he thought.
=/\=At this moment Captain I wouldn't put anything past anyone down here. I would like to request that we treat this situation as though we were behind enemy lines until further evidence is uncovered=/\=
A few moments later that Captain closed the comm channel, and Tiberian was left pondering. His musings were interrupted by the call of the CEO.
"Colonel Wong I'm finished here." Blakus stared at his tricorder's results, they were well fitting with his suspicions. "From the results of my analysis sir, it seems certain that there was a transporter beam-out. The residual is quite faint, but I am fairly certain."
"Can we extrapolate the destination" Tiberian asked, already knowing the answer before Blakus gave it.
"I can't ascertain the destination of the transporter," Blakus continued, "That's near impossible from here. Perhaps from the Victory... but they may still struggle due to the thoron radiation."
It was then a junior officer interrupted with a suggestion about the size of the transporter beam indicating the presence of more than one person. Tiberian thought for a moment, before coming up with an idea.
"Try and cut through the radiation, and then scan for specific energy patterns or radiation signatures that you would only find on the spacecraft of the Valnot or the Pelli. If we can identify which species took the Commander, we can narrow down where he is headed"
<TAG Blakus>
Tiberian strode over into a corner and gestured to Jose to join him. They huddled together so that they could only hear each other.
"Do you think it could have been a site to site transport? Just something to get him to another area of the station whilst we atare aimlesly into space" Tiberian asked.
"It's possible, considering we didn't see much space traffic earlier. But I'd do a perimeter sweep around the base and stop all traffic as well"
"Agreed, we'll cover all the bases. Take out four men and do a deck by deck, compartment by compartment sweep of the entire station. I know it'll take a while, but we'd better be safe. I'll get a shuttle from the Vic and do a heave to on all surrounding space traffic. That still leaves about ten men protecting the engineers, ok" The men nodded and Tiberian tapped his comm badge.
=/\=Wong to Victory=/\=
All he got was static.
=/\=Wong to Victory, please respond=/\=
No response came. Tiberian gestured to Martinez not to leave, and walked over to Blakus. He used a series of hand signals to his marines to form a defensive cordon around the room, all of them arming their phaser rifles. This had just become seriously hostile territory.
"We've just lost contact with the Vic" he informed Blakus and Martinez "Who's your contact on this station?"
<TAG Blakus>
"Right then, let's find him. We need to borrow whatever shuttlecraft are on this lump and evac right now"
"What about the Commander?" Martinez asked.
"He's not here. If whoever was going to do this was planning on knocking out the Vic, they wouldn't have transported Sharp to another area of this station. It doesn't add up when they could have jsut trapped us all together in one place. He's out of here, and right now so are we. Marine team alpha, prepare to move"

"Try and cut through the radiation, and then scan for specific energy patterns or radiation signatures that you would only find on the spacecraft of the Valnot or the Pelli. If we can identify which species took the Commander, we can narrow down where he is headed"
"Good idea sir," Blakus said, "I'm on it." Wish I'd thought of that... he thought.
"This isn't going to be easy seeing through the thorons sir."
"I know Holland but we've got to try." Blakus muttered, running his tricorder over the area of the suspected beam out. "The thorons are jamming it I can't get a true reading... no. Wait, this energy spike here it looks familiar."
"That's a spike inherent in Valnot technology sir." Holland said, "One of the few differences in the tech between them and the Pelli."
"Your'e quite the expert on this race's technology Lieutenant. That was quick then. Colonel!" But Lt. Colonel Wong was busy, busy trying to make contact with the Victory. Blakus gestured for his engineers to be quiet, he stood and watched Wong intently.
=/\=Wong to Victory, please respond=/\= No response came. "We've just lost contact with the Vic" he informed Blakus and Martinez "Who's your contact on this station?"
Blakus had to think about Wong's question and noted that the Colonel had already deployed his marines in a perimeter around the room. "Uh, his name is Tun-Ga, the chief construction coordinator."
"Right then, let's find him. We need to borrow whatever shuttlecraft are on this lump and evac right now" Wong proclaimed.
"What about the Commander?" Martinez asked.
"He's not here. If whoever was going to do this was planning on knocking out the Vic, they wouldn't have transported Sharp to another area of this station. It doesn't add up when they could have just trapped us all together in one place. He's out of here, and right now so are we. Marine team alpha, prepare to move"
Blakus was becoming alarmed with what was going on. "Wait a minute, do you not think we're jumping to conclusions here? Besides, I urge caution while traversing through the base. We can't assume the Kavrisians aboard are enemies." It wouldn't be wrong to say that Blakus desperately wanted to get back to the Victory... if something had happened to their ship, the CEO would be one of the first needed back, immediately. But he didn't like the way the marines handled things. Wong and his team ignored him and were all furiously going over their weapons, grenades, this that and the other, to make sure they were at 100%-killing capability...
Blakus shook his head and turned to collect his equipment along with his engineers, he wasn't comfortable with Wong and his marines at all. The more militaristic arms of starfleet were always the ones to jump to the conclusion where they got to shoot a lot of people. "Let's move then, engineers. Stay close to Colonel Wong's men. Just not too close..." Blakus trailed off quietly.

Sharp is wondering what his captors want plus figuring away out of this mess. Thinking to himself they have to be getting help from somewheres due to they are using technology that is more advanced then they are.
One of his captors comes in and asks what are the weaknesses to the ship. I refuse to answer the questions so the guard ruffs me up a little bit. Then asks the same question and this goes on for a little while. Then the valnot left and a while later they bring in Dr. Keran and her assistant and place them in the cell.
Dr. how did they get you?
<tag keran>
Dr. no matter what they ask you give them nothing.
<tag keran>
Sharp takes a peak out their cell window and sees a familiar silhouette in the background.

Tiberian shook his head as he led the men out of the room and through the station, him taking point as usual. It had always irked him somewhat that no matter where he went, there always seemed to be an officer who didn't appreciate the job he and his men did. Whilst it was their right to not approve of heavily armed men rough housing people wherever they went, they could at least issue a retraction when they proved to be useful, as invariably happened. Nonetheless, he pressed on. Using his tricorder to work out which the way the operations centre was, Tiberian arrived and introduced himself.
"I'm Lieutenant Colonel Wong from the Victory, I'm looking for a man called Tun Ga"
"And you've found him Colonel" the man replied "How can I render assistance"
"I need a shuttlecraft capable of taking all my people of this station. Immediately" Tiberian etched his voice with a measure of firmness, and an equal measure of threat, necessitated by the current situation. It appeared to have the desired effect.
"Well...I uh...If you need to depart so urgently, I can give you one of our personnel carriers. It should carry all of your personnel in one load. If you just give me a minute to arrange a pilo..."
"That won't be necessary" Tiberian cut across him sharply, avoiding any call for manners "If you could just tell us where the craft is docked"
"If you don't mind me asking, why don't you want one of our pilots? And why are you suddenly so desperate to leave?"
"As it happens sir, I do mind answering both of those questions" Tiberian smiled "Good day sir, I hope we can return. All things being even"
He took the padd from the outstretched hand of the administrator and departed, taking the entire group with him. He looked at Blakus, obviously unhappy with his mannerisms towards Tun Ga. He dismissed them with a wave of his hand.
"I know you don't like it Lieutenant, but considering that I've only been aboard a few hours and we've already had an explosion, a kidnapping, and the ship losing contact, you'll forgive a little suspicious hostility"
The group arrived at the docking port, and Tiberian ushered the engineers onboard first, then sending in the marines before closing the hatch himself. He seated himself at the flight console and cracked his fingers, before going to work on the new system. They cleared the station somewhat jerkily within a few minutes (Tiberian now slightly regretting his declining of the pilot), and they began to make their way towards the Victory's last known co-ordinates. The vessel was still their, but appeared to be in what could only be described as a state of shock. Martinez read out a series of limited sensor sweeps that the shuttle allowed.
"I'm detecting enormous amounts of background EM interference, as well as some external damage to the Vic herself. It looks like a possible EM wave hit them, which would explain why the external communications transceiver is fried. I think something might be wrong with the system's sun as well, but these sensors are so outdated it could just be me reading them wrong"
"Let's worry about that later" Tiberian replied, standing from the pilots chair "Me and Lieutenant Blakus will beam over to the Victory and open the landing bay doors. Sergeant Major, you will then pilot the shuttle in and ensure the safe disembarkation of all personnel. Energise directly to the bridge when ready"
~The Victoy bridge~
Tiberian and Blakus rematerialised in what appeared to be a warzone, as people milled around trying to deal with the damage caused by the EM wave. He clipped Balkus on the arm.
"You'd better get down to engineering and see what can be done. I'll see to the shuttlebay doors and make sure the shuttle gets in safely"
<TAG Blakus>
He moved round to the tactical console, and began operating the door controls.
"So, I can't leave you alone for five minutes can I" He began jokingly.

The ship shook and Nika grabbed onto the back of her chair to regain her balance an instant before she would have fallen.
"We were hit by a full spectrum EM pulse-wave combined with a coronal ejection. Karvis's star has suddenly destabilised. I'm not quiet sure how." Galwyn reported. "I estimate that we have 15-20 hours before it goes into first stage collapse."
"Report," Nika asked of the officer manning the operations console, Lieutenant Commander Jameson, who passed on the sorry news about the status of the Victory. The lack of warp engines and impulse, combined with the news the science officer had just passed on about the imminent collapse of the system didn't leave the Victory with many options.
And the Chief Engineer was still on the base, unable to help. Nika tried contacting him anyway, but just as the operations officer had explained, long-range communications weren't working. "Have any of the shuttles or runabouts remained unaffected by the pulse-wave?" Nika said.
If there was just one that still had long-range communications, she could use it to communicate with her team on Valnot on the base. It was a step in the right direction, at least. To her credit, Nika stayed on the bridge when Lt. Commander Jameson confirmed from his scans that one of the shuttles had working communications.
Still moving as quickly as she could, and knowing it wasn't quick enough, Nika called up a ship roster to find out who was on duty near the shuttlebay. =/\=This is the Captain to Ensign T'San=/\= she said, waiting for the security officer's reply before continuing. =/\=Please go to the Turing and use its systems to contact the away teams, starting with the one on the station. Tell them...to return to the ship if they can do so safely.=/\=
=/\=Yes sir=/\= came T'San's answer, and Nika looked briefly around the damaged bridge before plunging back into the work that had to be done by contacting engineering and getting their assessment of the damage that had been done.
She got a report back from T'San in moments, when he informed her that Lt. Colonel Wong and Lieutenant Blakus were already on their way back in a shuttlecraft. Nika allowed herself a slight breath of relief at that, before telling T'San to report back to her again after he'd contacted the people on Valnot.
Blakus and Wong materialized on the bridge a few hectic minutes later, and Blakus left to go to engineering. As he was heading off, Nika made sure he would know that impulse engines and long-range communications were the top priorities. And after that, warp. The Victory would need to be able to run.
"So, I can't leave you alone for five minutes can I?" Wong said.
Nika smiled slightly at the joke, then went back to looking incredibly worried. "What was the status of the station when you left?" she asked. Wong raised an eyebrow. "Would they be able to evacuate completely in the next 12 hours?" She knew they ought to have more time than that, and she knew that science might find a solution for this. But Tiana kept making concerned mutterings and Nika had to be ready for the worst. She didn't really have much of a choice.
Since they had a workaround system for the commsystem Nika could theoretically talk to the Valnot and the Pell, but she'd rather have the Victory's systems up soon, so she could talk to them with the advantage of an added level of security that the Victory comm system could implement and the shuttle couldn't.
Commander Galwyn didn't know for sure whether or not the destabilization of the star could have been deliberate, and, with what had been happening lately, Nika couldn't rule anything out.
Just then, Ensign T'San contacted her, saying he'd been unable to get through to the team on Valnot. Nika didn't know whether that could be due to the blast that had taken out many of the Victory's systems or something else, but for now it seemed most likely that it was the former of the two cases. And if it wasn't...Nika couldn't exactly do anything for the medical officers and marines.

The group of marines, security personnel and engineers walked briskly (so as not to cause too much concern among the Kavrisians) through the station, apparently to the Operations Centre. Once they arrived Blakus, from near the back, saw that Wong was already in conversation with Tun-Ga, a rather brusque conversation it was as well.
They then headed for the docking bay. "I know you don't like it Lieutenant," Wong caught the CEO's glare, "But considering that I've only been aboard a few hours and we've already had an explosion, a kidnapping, and the ship losing contact, you'll forgive a little suspicious hostility." Lieutenant Blakus said nothing in reply, and no he wouldn't forgive a little suspicious hostility. The SMO duly got everyone into one of the station's boxy Personnel Carriers and manning the controls, propelled them, a little shakily, off the station.
"You should be flying this thing Bligh," Blakus muttered to Ensign Bligh beside him, well aware of the man's bizarre piloting skills.
Martinez mentioned that there may be a problem with the Kavris Star, but Blakus was more concerned with the immediate problem that Martinez had informed them of before. All external systems on the Victory were fried, most importantly, engines and communications.
"Let's worry about that later" Tiberian replied to Martinez's last comments and standing from the pilots chair, "Me and Lieutenant Blakus will beam over to the Victory and open the landing bay doors. Sergeant Major, you will then pilot the shuttle in and ensure the safe disembarkation of all personnel. Energise directly to the bridge when ready."
The CEO and Wong stood on the small transporter platform at the rear of the craft, Blakus glanced at the SMO and buried his resentment. He still hadn't spoken to him since when they were back in the room where Sharp had been kidnapped. Right at the current moment, by far the most important thing in Blakus' mind was to get on to the ship and get it working again.
The transporter beam faded and Blakus found himself on the bridge of the Victory. Man he needed to get to engineering!
"You'd better get down to engineering and see what can be done." Wong then told him. "I'll see to the shuttlebay doors and make sure the shuttle gets in safely." It was the best suggestion Blakus had heard all day. Without hesitation he headed for the turbolift, the Captain just had enough time to tell him that impulse and long range comms were the priorities. With warp drive just behind... Blakus thought.
The CEO stormed into engineering and was confronted with much the same scene as the bridge. Exploded consoles, overloaded and ruptured EPS conduits, several personnel with bad plasma burns as a result. "Sir!" an officer called out from by the warp core.
"Lieutenant Mattheson, report!" Blakus instructed in return, he strode up to the consoles by the core.
"What you see is the main extent of the damage sir," he said, "50% of the consoles have overloaded or shorted out. Medics are on the way to us to help the injured." The two walked around engineering dodging bits of wreckage and people attending injured crewmen. "But the core itself is fine, we have power, but little means to distribute it. Oh and the PTC to the nacelles is fully functional, but, the warp coils have been fried to hell."
"Damn it. Ok, get a team together and start working on the main comm transceiver. See if it is repairable or if we need to replace it. Let's hope for the former."
"Yes sir," Mattheson acknowledged and ran off to gather his team.
Blakus tapped his commbadge, =/\=Bridge, engineering. I have bad news, the warp coils are dead. We're not going anywhere superluminally for quite a while.=/\= Then Blakus waited with as much patience as possible, which wasn't much, for his best men to arrive back from the shuttlebay.

If Tiana could have spared a thought for her current condition she would have described it as borderline panic, which isn't a good condition for a Commander on the bridge of a starship. However, as she hadn't been able to pause for thought since the pulse wave hit she hadn't been able to register this yet and was continuing with her analysis (as much as the slightly fried sensors would allow) as if the day wasn't too far out of the ordinary.
She had a working theory, but that's all it was. There was quite a lot of possibilities for things that could cause a star to go into premature collapse but it wasn't as if any of those things had actually been tested....
She was prodding her console at regular intervals and pacing back and forth muttering to herself. She was bouncing ideas off Lt. Palmer and anyone else who happened to be handy when a new thought struck her. Most of the non-science staff were keeping away from her pacing zone least they get a question about kappa radiation or something else obscure thrown in their direction. It wasn't that Tiana was expecting answers it was simply that saying things aloud helped her to think.
Just then Lt Blakus and another man Tiana didn't recognise materialised on the bridge. Andae headed straight for engineering which Tiana imagined had to be at least as crazy as the bridge if not more so. The other new arrival was dressed in marine uniform with a colonel's insignia on his collar. It did not take a sciences PhD to guess that this was the new SMO. He headed for the tactical station. "So, I can't leave you alone for five minutes can I" He said.
Tiana gave a sort of half smile. "I take it you're Colonel Wong, pleased to meet you. I'm Tiana Galwyn, CScO" She paused for about half a second and then said "sub-atomic singularities!"
No one paid her much attention as this was only one of many similar excalimations she had come out with in the last few minutes. The new SMO did seem a little confused though. Tiana paused in her pacing and gave a proper (if slightly skewed) smile. "Things are a touch chaotic at the moment, has anyone filled you in yet?"
