Scene: Hallway leading towards Cmdr Matthew's Quarters
“The hallway on the officer's deck was, for all intents and purposes, deserted. Most of the officers were either already asleep or were on duty somewhere in the ship. That left the deck feeling very quiet.
“The quiet was only disrupted by the opening of the doors from the turbo lift, followed by the shuffling of feet down the corridor. Commander Matthew was exhausted. His mind was numb. Deciding to get his work done that he had missed while pulling A double sift on the bridge , James had thrown himself in to his work, getting it all done before he allowed himself to retire for the evening.
“Finally James made his way back to his quarters, Each step towards his quarters seemed to take forever. Indeed, each step he took was slower and slower. Finally he made it to his quarters, and just stood there for a minute or two, staring at his door. Finally, he keyed in his code and walked in as the doors parted.
“James didn't have the energy or the will power to turn on the lights. He instead just dropped his Uniform on the first Chair he could find . As the doors closed behind him, he keyed them locked, and fell back against the doors, Then his comm. Badge start to beep .
“Cmdr Matthew here”
Scene: Bridge
"Bridge Officer voice Commander Matthew sensors are picking up a ship on an intercept course. With us."
"Cmdr Matthew “Identification?"
"Federation energy signature. Sensors are confirming now." The young officer at the Ops station scrutinized the readings. He had already determined the class type but he wanted to be certain before he made his report. "It's a Federation merchant ship sir. Transponder codes coming through now. Reads as SS MAGELLAN."
"Standard challenges. once you confirmed there codes have them hold station and a Waite orders am on my way back to the bridge Matthew out "
"Bridge Officer Aye sir."
Scene :VICTORY Main Bridge The turbo lift doors slid open and James stepped onto the bridge . He made his way to the Ops Station “
“ Cmdr Matthew ok Lt, have the MAGELLAN Start Taking on refugees .and get the Assistant Chief of security online I need for him to a assign a security team over to the MAGELLAN the last this we need is a bunch of .refugees running Loose

Andae looked at Tiana, he was intrigued by her position in all of this. I guess she can't just say she's against us... he thought. Wong had put he and Tiana in rather difficult positions, even though Andae had voiced his willingness. He looked back at Wong and was about to say something when he noticed that Wong was staring intensely in the direction of the door. Andae and Tiana both looked around.. there stood Commander Davis. Oh no..! thought the CEO in a moment of panic. “Colonel Wong, could you please report to cargo bay 2, we are starting to set up for refugees from the three nations and as you are not doing very much I would appreciate your assistants, now.”
Andae knew that the XO knew. Or at least, he knew that he was extremely suspicious due to what had been said. The Commander approached and all three of them stood to attention. With a sideways glance Wong winked as he strode briskly from the room. Blakus turned his head sharply to look for a reaction in the XO, but the wink appeared to have gone unnoticed.
“Right," Davis said, "I want both of you to begin prepping this ship to go, if there are any plans the captain has authorised than obviously continue them, but I want engineering prioritising repairs to get this ship as much speed as possible. Commander Galwyn I want you to begin calculating how far the star will destroy and how long it will take us to get out of the blast range.”
"Yes sir." Blakus nodded and answered the orders in a subdued tone. He nodded to Tiana and left the room, he was sure he could feel the XO's eyes physically drilling into his back as he walked through the door. Blakus entered the turbolift and ordered for Engineering. He entered the room a minute later...
"Report."
Lieutenant Holland looked down from the deck above, "Sir." Blakus thought he looked relieved that he'd finally arrived. "Repairs on track, we're up to something like full spec now, when I say something like..."
"Don't worry Lieutenant, we can't do anything about the majority of the wrecked systems," Blakus said up to Holland, "I have orders to focus on gearing the ship for departure, in other words, work on Impulse." Holland nodded from above and began to turn away, back to his work. "And Lieutenant?" Blakus remembered something, Like it's forgettable... "Come down here for a second..." he quietly suggested, waving his hand to signal the Assistant Chief down.
As Holland came down the ladder Blakus called him into his office and spoke in hushed tones, "Colonel Wong wants to go ahead with this enhanced shuttle idea, against Captain's orders. If you're willing I would like you to begin gathering up the equipment for it." Holland's expression had grown more and more questioning as Blakus had progressed. "Are you willing Lieutenant?" Blakus leered at him for good measure. Holland nodded and mumbled a positive reply, he departed the office.
10 minutes later...
Blakus ran to the Magnetic Constrictor control board, and nearly crashed into a marine uniformed officer on the way. Recovering himself he looked to see who the marine was, and was unsurprised to see that it was indeed Colonel Wong. As he listened while the Colonel gave him an update, Blakus found that he had to remind himself why he was going along with Wong, seeds of doubt had already planted themselves in Blakus's mind, and he was sure that Wong would have those doubts as well, ... or did he??
"...I know I'm asking you to risk your career for this, so if you want to back out now, I won't think any less of you." Wong finished.
"I know the risks Colonel, I am willing." He moved away and pensively scratched his chin, noticing the stubble growth, lack of leisure time had done that. He had been looking Wong in the eyes but he had had to look away, "Ok Colonel I'm not entirely sure I want to do this, but neither I suspect are you." Wong looked slightly confused at what Blakus was saying. The CEO tried to explain, "I feel that this has to be done," was all he managed. He sighed, "Lieutenant Holland has gathered up the parts necessary, I'll transport it myself. And I'm coming with you, unless you decide that I'm not, in which case I will follow your orders and stay in Engineering."

"Things are going as planned sir."
Sir you notice the strange behavior of the col. Davis explains what he may have overheard.
Sharp heads over to the transporter pad and beams to the main shuttle bay.
Sharp materializes in the shuttle bay with a surprise look on the marine engineer. "you are dismissed and no arguments. The marine leaves and then a few minutes later Wong enters with a surprise look on his face.
"Col. I can't let you do this you are violating captains orders you will stand down or go to the brigg your choice."

Tiana was more than a little worried by the tone the conversation had taken. She was sure that something needed to be done but wasn't sure that this was the best thing to do. Then Commander Davis appeared in the doorway. She was pretty sure he had heard what they had been talking about. For a second Commander Blakus looked like he had been caught with his hand in the cookie jar. Tiana felt a smudge guilty even though she knew she hadn't done anything wrong. Tiana tried to disappear and knew she hadn't managed it when he turned to her;
“Commander Galwyn I want you to begin calculating how far the star will destroy and how long it will take us to get out of the blast range”
Tiana nodded "Aye, sir. I'll get right on it." The others left the lab leaving Tiana alone. She walked to one of the computer stations and began work. It did not take too long, it was 'simply' a matter of changing some/most of the parameters in the initial simulation and running it again.
She took her data to Russell "I believe that the star will completely destroy the second planet and cause enormous tidal damage to the remaining planets and moons. The damage to Karvis III itself is harder to predict due to the gaseous nature of the planet, but my simulations suggest a 20-40% mass loss." She paused for breath. "If we had warp out running the collapse would be no problem. However on half impulse we are going to have to leave the system a minimum of 15 minutes before the collapse. That gives the Victory a 98% chance of sustaining no further damage assuming we stay in the planet's shadow as long as possible and put rear shields to maximum to ride out the wave. I did calculations for several other scenarios." She handed him a PADD.
Tiana swallowed hard "I also feel I have to tell you that I believe that," 'Goodness there were a lot of qualifiers in that', she thought as she continued. "Colonel Wong and probably Lt Blakus will continue with their plan to modify a shuttle."
Tiana felt bad but knew that this was the only sensible thing to do.

Wong nodded and looked at Balkus. He had underestimated the capabilities and indeed the courage of the engineering officer. The fact that the man was willing to risk at least his career, and at most his life, for a people whom he barely knew showed immense moral fibre. However, he personally wasn't going to risk any more lives than absolutely necessary.
"Thank you for your offer Lieutenant, but I can't risk any more lives than necessary. You being willing to throw away your career for this is a big enough sacrifice without throwing away your..."
Tiberian caught himself short of saying the l word, a strange sort of tradition he had become accustomed to, where marines would never talk about what they were afraid of, lest it manifest itself.
"Stay here, and keep an open comm channel to the shuttle. Use band frequency delta seven, it's not used that often, and keep in regular contact, I would like to have the best odds of surviving. And one more thing, thank you for this" He shook the engineers hand, before turning and walking out of main engineering. He was headed for the shuttlebay now, and throughout his career, he didn't feel as if he had ever been this scared. When he had boarded the Nekori vessel, when he had lost his eye to the mad scientist, even when he had been hunted through Bellicose by the giant cat he hadn't felt like this. Because all those times, dying had never been part of the plan. Unfortunately, this time it appeared that it might well be.
He turned a corner, and entered the shuttlebay, deserted save for the head of security stood in the middle of the room. Sharp stood there unfazed, his ultimatum hanging in the air. Tiberian had to hand it to the man, he was not one to be trifled with. Unfortunately, neither was he. He couldn't gauge whether or not the engineer had finished installing the components, but one way or the other, it was now or never.
"Commander" Tiberian called in reply "Let's be reasonable about this. All I want to do is have a shot at saving these people's homes, and those people who might not be evacuated in time. Surely I have a right to try?"
<TAG Sharp>
Tiberian could see there was no point in arguing, and that he might as well face facts. Either he gave up now, or he carried on and risked getting caught before he even made it out of the shuttlebay. He quickly formulated a plan.
"In that case Commander" Tiberian said raising his hands "I think you had better escort me to the brig" The security chief approached, as if to take him into custody, when Tiberian suddenly leapt on him, attempting to put him into a strangle hold. The Commander fought back with a tenacious ferocity, a pummelling of elbows and feet almost taking Tiberian to the floor. Luckily, in the last moments, he caught him in a Vulcan nerve pinch, rendering him unconscious. Tiberian staggered away from the security chief towards the shuttle, massaging his bruised ribs and forearms as he closed the hatch and powered up the engines. The absence of the shuttlebay doors made the launch easier, with the shuttle gliding silently through the atmospheric containment field. A few moments out, the shuttle was hailed from the Victory, Tiberian now gunning the engines at full impulse.
=/\=Victory to shuttlecraft Copernicus, cut your engines and return at once=/\= the voice of Commander Isha Yontz, the night XO rang familiar in Tiberian's ears.
=/\=Sorry Ishy=/\= Tiberian replied =/\=Tell the Captain she has my apologies, and a most sincere offer to court martial me on the proviso that I live=/\= he cut the channel and rang a quick systems diagnostic, then remodulating his transmitter array.
=/\=Colonel Wong to Lieutenant Blakus. Ok Andae, the hardware is installed and active, but none of it has been rigged to the controls. I can pilot the shuttle, but I need you to operate the graviton field and the metaphasic shielding remotely. Can you do it?=/\=

For some reason Blakus felt slightly guilty as Wong shook his hand and left Engineering for perhaps the last time. One thing that didn't occur to the chief engineer then, was that half a dozen engineers had witnessed the exchange.
One of those people was Lieutenant Philip Holland, of course Holland already knew of the plan, but seeing his Chief Engineer shaking Colonel Wong's hand helped to bring home exactly what was going on. Holland sidled over to Lieutenant Mattheson. "What did you make of that Lieutenant?" he asked.
"I'm not sure..." replied Mattheson,
"I'm going to call the bridge, to tell them to keep a look out for any shuttles that might happen to leave the shuttlebay..." Holland said, he eyed Blakus suspiciously as the latter moved off slowly and deliberately towards a console. Keeping half an eye on his Chief Holland walked around a corner and opened a channel to the bridge from a wall panel. =/\= Bridge, this is Lieutenant Holland. I believe that Lieutenant-" Holland paused and gulped, and changed what he was about to say,"I believe that you may need to prepare to apprehend a shuttle, heading for the star. =/\=
Commander Yontz replied from the bridge, =/\= Thankyou for the information Lieutenant, where did you get... Stand-by Lieutenant.."=/\= The channel closed. Holland sighed and took another look around the corner at his chief engineer.
"What shuttle?" Asked Mattheson from behind him. Holland glanced around at Mattheson and instantly looked away from the accusing expression on the latter's face. Philip felt one bead of sweat roll down the side of his face.
=/\=Colonel Wong to Lieutenant Blakus. Ok Andae, the hardware is installed and active, but none of it has been rigged to the controls. I can pilot the shuttle, but I need you to operate the graviton field and the metaphasic shielding remotely. Can you do it?=/\=
Blakus had only just switched his channel to frequency delta seven, luckily just in time to hear the Colonel. =/\= I hope so Colonel =/\= he responded. =/\= I'm accessing the shuttle's mainframe now... Right, I have access to the systems Colonel. Fly her in.=/\=
Then: =/\= Engineering this is the bridge. I need impulse power. There's a shuttle heading straight for the sun! We have to stop them.=/\=
Damn! Blakus thought. He opened the frequency again, =/\=Colonel, you may want to step on it.=/\= There was no response. Blakus hoped the Colonel was just busy at the shuttle's controls, or that he'd entered the star's corona, because otherwise...

Russell left the Cargo bay and made his way back towards his quarters to freshen up and get a change of uniform, arriving he found Tiana waiting outside the door as if she had expected him to be there now. “Hello Tiana, what can I do for you? Russell hoped it would not be work but he had a feeling he knew what was coming. "I believe that the star will completely destroy the second planet and cause enormous tidal damage to the remaining planets and moons.
"Colonel Wong and probably Lt Blakus will continue with their plan to modify a shuttle." Russell was afraid that was what she was going to say, looking at her results he was pleased enough, 15 minutes would hopefully be easy to get their hands on. “Thank you Tiana, I had a guess that Wong would continue with this, but I will wait a little to see if they do” Russell decided then he was going to go to the bridge first to set up a few things should they try anything.
Arriving on the bridge he nodded to the night shift XO who looked quite shocked to see him here, “do not worry about me, continue as normal, I am just here to set up a few things just in case and check a few things Commander Yontz” Isha did not look to happy but moved away and ignored Russell. Moving to the XO seat he picked up a Padd he had left there and began setting up tabs on the shuttles and had the computer monitor the exact locations of Colonel Wong and Lieutenant Commander Blakus, Russell heard a communication come in from a Lieutenant down in engineering about a possible shuttle launch but before he could hear what was going on the computer noted to him that a shuttle had just been powered up, moments before a officer on the bridge noted a shuttle outside of the ship. Before Russell could speak Isha opened a communications frequency to the shuttle which confirmed that it was Wong in control. =/\=Sorry Ishy=/\= Tiberian replied =/\=Tell the Captain she has my apologies, and a most sincere offer to court martial me on the proviso that I live=/\= Russell immediately decided what he was going to do, “Helm plot an intercept course, Tactical as soon as we are in range place a tractor beam on that shuttle and pull it back in” As Russell turned to the science station he heard Isha sending orders down to engineering, “Lieutenant, are there any active communications from the shuttle?” Liam looked quite confused at the question but no sooner had he checked did he detect something “Yes sir, though I cannot determine who they are intended for and what is being said” Russell had what he needed, “Commander Yonyz you have the bridge, you two come with me” Russell and the two security officer that he pointed at entered the turbo lift and made their way to engineering.
{Bridge}
Isha watched as they began to slowly catch up on the shuttle, before the tractor beam could be activated the shuttle all of a sudden picked up speed, “Damn it” Isha said under her breath before she could give new orders the computer sounded an alert =/\=“Warning, stellar instability accelerating, estimated time until critical mass 30 minutes=/\= Isha was lucky she was next to a consol as she almost feel over with the shock of it, she looked to the science station to see poor Liam looking like he would pull out his hair “Lieutenant get you chief up here now! Helm adjust our course to get us behind the planet, you send an emergency message to the two moons and the planet, tell them to run now!”
<Tag Tiana>
Isha barely took in a breath before hitting her comm. badge “Commander Davis, the star is going nova, please get up here ASAP”, “Captain, the star is about to go nova, please report to the bridge ASAP”, “Engineering this is the bridge, give us everything you have the star is about to blow”. Isha heard the confirms before opening a new comms channel to the shuttle “Tiberian turn around, the star is about to blow”

{Engineering}
As Russell arrived he immediately went to looking for the Chief, noting him near one of the consoles to one side he moved over, leaving the security officers at the door. Before Russell could nudge Andae that he was there he opened a channel =/\=Colonel, you may want to step on it.=/\= Russell felt a temper in him explode “Lieutenant Commander Blakus” Andae physically shivered as he heard his name spoken directly behind him by the XO, before he could respond Russell continued “Commander, you will inform Mr Wong to return to the ship, his idea has merit but we are not at the point where his life can be sacrificed so easily, I expected better of you” calling over the security officers Russell continued “Commander, I hereby relieve you of duty for aiding another officer in the act of directly defying a superior officer, I will give you a choice, either go quietly and I will only confine you to quarters, struggle and I will have you thrown in the brig. Lieutenant Holland you have control of engineering. So Andae what shall it be?”
<Tag Andae>
Before the security officers could take Andae away from engineering a communication from the bridge =/\=Commander Davis, the star is going nova, please get up here ASAP, Engineering this is the bridge, give us everything you have the star is about to blow”=/\= Russell felt the steam just leave him but he quickly recovered and turned to Philip “lieutenant, get every ounce of power you can to engines and the rear shields as possible, take it from life support if you must” Russell then turned to the direction that the doors were “Security release him but watch him, Andae I want you to continue your little plan to sort out the star, I will clear it and take responsibility for the actual plan, but I want you in the brig as soon as we are safe is that clear?”

“Lieutenant Commander Blakus”
An instant after Blakus had sent his last transmission to Wong's shuttle the CEO heard the XO's voice from behind him. In numb shock, surprise, unsurprise, heck he didn't know what... he spun around. Sure enough Davis stood there, seemingly quite angry.
"Commander, you will inform Mr Wong to return to the ship," Davis said, "His idea has merit but we are not at the point where his life can be sacrificed so easily, I expected better of you.”
Commander? Lieutenant Commander? When was I promoted? these questions burned inside of Blakus's head but none were of greater importance than the situation. Before he could do as Davis had demanded the XO spoke again,
“Commander, I hereby relieve you of duty for aiding another officer in the act of directly defying a superior officer, I will give you a choice, either go quietly and I will only confine you to quarters, struggle and I will have you thrown in the brig. Lieutenant Holland you have control of engineering. So Andae what shall it be?”
"I'll do as you ask sir," Blakus said after a pause, "I'm not going to argue." Davis nodded very slightly and Andae went to leave Engineering, heading for his quarters. Although he loathed having to abandon his post during such a moment, a part of himself had to admit, with shame, that he wanted a rest. But then it all kicked off, Davis got a call from the bridge. The star was going nova in thirty minutes?! What had happened to their, now seemingly wild, estimates?? Davis ordered Holland to set about squeezing every last Watt of power out of the impulse drive and Blakus couldn't help but feel resentful at Holland, but Davis then addressed him,
"Andae I want you to continue your little plan to sort out the star, I will clear it and take responsibility for the actual plan, but I want you in the brig as soon as we are safe is that clear?”
"Do I not then, get the option of my quarters?" Andae fixed Davis with as hard a piercing glare as he dared to. The XO seemed to bristle at it.
<Tag Davis>
Blakus went back to his station, now 'officially' working alone among the engineering staff, he rubbed the grime of his hands and forced them to work the controls, he was covered in the stuff. Working without rest for a long long time had degraded his appearance. His uniform was dirty, his sleeves were rolled up to the elbows, the jacket half open. His hair was unkempt and the grime was on his face too, his dark-rimmed eyes appearing like black coals thanks to it.
He turned to Davis again, "Sir, if the star's going 'Nova in thirty minutes, do you think that it's wise for the Colonel to continue on in there? I said the new Structural Integrity Field was good, but I don't think it's that good."

Tiberian was getting increasingly frustrated and panicky as he listened to the conflicting messages from the Victory, whilst at the same time trying to man the controls. Whilst Balksu wanted him to speed up, he had also heard Isha telling him to turn around, as the sun was about to explode. Given that it was now obvious that any sort of hidden ruse was now blown well and truly out of the water, Tiberian decided to forgo switching comm frequencies, and instead opened up a general channel to the Victory.
=/\=Alright everyone, LISTEN UP=/\= he found himself shouting over the increasing rushing noise filling the cabin as he grew closer to the sun =/\=I can't turn around. If this sun is going to go up now, then it makes my job even more pertinent. But that doesn't mean you have to follow me. Ishy, come about and start heading away from the sun with as many refugees as possible=/\=
=/\=Cant just leave you=/\= the Bajoran man protested vehemently, eliciting a smile from Tiberian about the character of his friend.
"I'm touched, but my life is not worth that of my shipmates, or of the civilians. DO IT!" He was pleased to see on the sensor readout that the Victory was now moving away from him, although the sun was looming ever closer.
"Warning, heat shields are at maximum tolerance levels" a computer warning issued through the cabin.
"Redirect power from the weapons systems and all other non-essential ship functions to the heat shields and structural integrity field. Polarise the hull plating" Tiberian called the commands to the silently listening machine in rapid succession, hoping that he might have enough power to allow him to get near to the star's corona. =/\=Wong to Blakus. I'm about to start dodging solar flares, so if you have anything smart to say to me, say it now=/\=
<TAG Blakus and Davis>
=/\=Alright then gentlemen. I'm going to have to do some fancy flying, so don't expect much conversation for the time being. Whatever you do, just keep sending the operating orders through to the graviton emmitter. Even if the heat shields fail, at least I might be able to save the sun before I burn up=/\=
He cut his sentence short as he threw the ship hard to port to dodge a spiralling burst of flame from the sun's corona. The cabin temperature was rising in spite of all the precautions put in place, and the sweat on his palms, and that which dripped from his face made Tiberian's fingers slip on the console.
"Computer" he called out as he piloted "I want to prepare a failsafe protocol, acknowledge"
"Preparing to accept failsafe parameters"
"If at any point, it appears as though the heat shields are going to fail, I want you to disable all systems except for the impulse engines, shielding, and power to the graviton array, and reset the heat shields and protective forcefields around those three systems, ignoring everything else"
"Warning, this order will involve the deactivation of life support, and the removal of personnel heat shielding"
"I know" Tiberian whispered "Override, authorisation Wong 64 Theta Proxima"
He piloted on for a moment, before ensuring that the channel to the Victory was still open.
=/\=Wong to Commander Davis. Seeing as you're the XO, and the closest thing to a ships counsellor, I was wondering if you'd do me a favour, undeserving although I am=/\= he smiled in spite of himself. =/\=I want it noted in the ship's log that I want all of my worldly possessions to be transferred to Lieutenant Katie Abernathy as my sole beneficiary, except for my secret stash of Romulan ale and mymarine issue knife, which are to go to Sergeant Major Jose Martinez. I would also like it noted that, if I don't make it, I did everything myslef with no help from anyone. That being so, no-one save me can be held accountable at a court martial, which, given my probable death, I won't be too fussed about=/\=
A beeping came from the panel, cutting short his monologue. The shuttle was fast approaching the outer limits of the star, and the heat shields were fast approaching breaching point.
=/\=Looks like this is it gentlemen, either do something ingenious or tell me what a great guy I was, but do it quick=/\=

Nika had abandoned any thought of sleep, but she had reluctantly given over the bridge to Commander Yonz on Yonz's insistence. To her credit, she had actually tried to get some sleep, recognizing the importance of being well-rested and alert for whatever she might be needed for. But she couldn't stop from thinking that she might be needed while she was asleep, and found it impossible to therefore get to sleep.
So Nika was in her room, reading, when she got the notification from Yonz that something was seriously wrong. =/\=On my way=/\= she said.
And then she was on her way to the bridge, running when she could, and forced into restless stillness on the turbolift when she didn't have a choice. She arrived on the bridge, cutting off whoever's job it was to report that there was the captain on the bridge to say: “Report.”
From Yonz's rather clear report, Nika learned that Colonel Wong was on his way into a star that was about to go nova, and that Commander Yonz had already informed everyone of the increase in the timetable. What that meant was that they hadn't actually bought any time earlier, and may indeed have made everything worse. Which was another reason not to go messing with stars that were about to go nova, since no one had complete enough science to predict exactly what would happier.
Nika didn't try to contact Wong to order him back to the ship. Commander Yonz had already tried that, and Nika was under no illusions that the marine officer would listen to her. She did listen stonily in on the conversation between Wong and Davis and Blakus, in between shouting orders to ensure the ship actually made it out of system.
The Victory was most of the way out of the system, full to her capacity with refugees, at the same time Wong was approaching the sun. =/\=Looks like this is it gentlemen, either do something ingenious or tell me what a great guy I was, but do it quick=/\=
Nika contemplated several possible responses, but she knew she didn't have long, and that she had to say something. =/\=Bring my shuttle back safely=/\= she said. =/\=And yourself=/\=
Nika took a quiet breath and turned from the viewscreen, not tracking Wong's progress. Whatever happened now, it was out of her control, and she had to deal with what she could. Which included several thousand refugees, who had to be kept from panicking. Nika didn't want to go far from the bridge, which precluded her from going down to talk to the refugees .
Instead, Nika walked into her ready room and spoke to some of the refugees through the comm badge of one of the security officers. She didn't mention Wong's situation, because she really couldn't afford to give these people false hope. But she could tell them of the situation, and the changes. She'd found that rumors made people more likely to overreact, even if the truth was bad the rumors would always be worse. Which was why she was taking the time now to carefully explain the situation. That and it was the most productive thing she could think of at the moment.

Tiana was back in the main science lab and trying to get on with her calculations. Her conscience was bothering her a little but she HAD done the right thing and Russ had been going to do something anyway...
=/\=Tiana we need you up here now.=/\= Liam's voice came over the comm system. His panic was evident and Tiana was now really worried. She wondered what had gone wrong now but instead of worrying and running she tripped a site-to-site beaming and appeared a second later on the bridge (she had set up the programme when she had realised how serious things really were and that those seconds running to the bridge in a moment like this might be the crucial ones.
"We're got less than 30 minutes left," Liam said flatly. Somehow the flatness in his voice unnerved Tiana even more than the open panic that had been evident before. The Captain was also on the bridge. Things were very worrying. Colonel Wong had taken a shuttle and was currently heading towards the edge of the stellar atmosphere with rapidly failing heat shields.
=/\=Looks like this is it gentlemen, either do something ingenious or tell me what a great guy I was, but do it quick=/\= To Tiana's ears the Colonel sounded way too calm, but then he had volunteered for what he expected to be a suicide mission.
=/\=Bring my shuttle back safely=/\= The Captain said. =/\=And yourself=/\=
Tiana was murmuring to herself as various stands of though came together in her mind. She could explain how this happened but caffeine and adrenaline (both of which were surging through her in large quantities at the moment) often produced moments of sheer inspiration when she was moved to try the most insane things.
She quickly linked her station to one of the remaining shuttled and started typing commands at a frantic rate. "I don't think I can do anything about the shuttle," Tiana said aloud. "But I think I can get the Colonel back" Wong's life had almost become an abstract concept in her mind as she worked to lock to a single life sign in the shuttle, the shields were a problem but she had seen enough of the plans to be able to hack round and through them... Then there was a the small issue of high ion flux to counter... wouldn't want to lose containment on the beam.
Liam stared over her shoulder for a second before catching on to what she was attempting, Tiana didn't have time for explanations. Together they doubled the transporter beam and then tuned it to pass through the shuttle's shields. They tightened the field on the sensors and focused as much as they could on the shuttle trying to get a confirmed lock on Colonel Wong. He did not have much time left and they were only going to get one shot at this...
"Got it." Tiana announced aloud, she hadn't been speaking much since she had started this but the whirling of thoughts in her head had been so loud that she hadn't noticed. "Transporting in five, four, three, two, one" She entered the last few commands as she spoke.
A transporter haze appeared on the lower area of the bridge, the heats shields on the shuttle were on th point of collapse, this had work. Gradually as Tiana and Liam fought with the heavily jury rigged controls they had set up, Colonel Wong materialised.
"I think I owe you more than one drink now," Tiana muttered under her breath as she leaned one the science station for a moment. The flickering counter in the corner of the station caught her attention. 22:43 and counting down. It seemed impossible that only 8 minutes had passed.

"Do I not then, get the option of my quarters?" Russell looked at the Engineer and considered, “If you stabilise that star then I will let you have your quarters, otherwise I want you in the brig” Russell moved to watch on one of the screens that was displaying the location of the shuttle and its occupant as they approached the now very unstable star."Sir, if the star's going 'Nova in thirty minutes, do you think that it's wise for the Colonel to continue on in there? I said the new Structural Integrity Field was good, but I don't think it's that good." Russell had not thought of that but with so many lives at stake there was no longer any other choice. =/\=Alright everyone, LISTEN UP=/\= ... =/\=I can't turn around. If this sun is going to go up now, then it makes my job even more pertinent. But that doesn't mean you have to follow me. Ishy, come about and start heading away from the sun with as many refugees as possible=/\= ... =/\=Can’t just leave you=/\= the Bajoran man protested vehemently, =/\="I'm touched, but my life is not worth that of my shipmates, or of the civilians. DO IT!"=/\=
Russell could not help but admire the marine’s courage, or was it a wish to die, he would have to get the new counsellor to check on that should he not be burnt to a crisp or court-marshalled out of Starfleet. Russell noted on the screen that the victory was adjusting its course to return to the shadow of the planet to prepare to run if this plan went bad. Before Russell could open a channel to Wong a communication came in from the same man. =/\=Wong to Blakus. I'm about to start dodging solar flares, so if you have anything smart to say to me, say it now=/\= Russell could not think of anything smart to say in this situation so he descided to remain silent to let Tiana or Andae say whatever needed to be said, =/\=Alright then gentlemen. I'm going to have to do some fancy flying, so don't expect much conversation for the time being. Whatever you do, just keep sending the operating orders through to the graviton emmitter. Even if the heat shields fail, at least I might be able to save the sun before I burn up=/\= Russell could understand Wong’s sentiments so he decided to return to watching the progress of the shuttle on the screen, =/\=Wong to Commander Davis. Seeing as you're the XO, and the closest thing to a ships counsellor, I was wondering if you'd do me a favour, undeserving although I am=/\= ... =/\=I want it noted in the ship's log that I want all of my worldly possessions to be transferred to Lieutenant Katie Abernathy as my sole beneficiary, except for my secret stash of Romulan ale and my marine issue knife, which are to go to Sergeant Major Jose Martinez. I would also like it noted that, if I don't make it, I did everything myself with no help from anyone. That being so, no-one save me can be held accountable at a court martial, which, given my probable death, I won't be too fussed about=/\= Russell thought for a moment “I will note the first part, should you die, I would like to remind you that Romulan ale is not allowed so that is being confiscated.” =/\=Looks like this is it gentlemen, either do something ingenious or tell me what a great guy I was, but do it quick=/\= Russell decided not to say anything but a simple line he felt the marine would like to hear “Colonel, God’s speed” Russell quickly looked back at the screen to watch not only the colonel’s progress but the count down until the star began its destruction of the system.
Russell watched as the shuttle entered the star and continued in towards the core, before it had even reached halfway down the colonel’s life sign disappeared, Russell could hear the groans and outright swearing form the engineers present, but Russell was relieved to see that the shuttle at least was still moving and still on course. Russell was about to contact the bridge to inform them of the development when a message arrived from the bridge stating that Colonel Wong was on the bridge safe and sound. “Ok, I would like to know if this is working or not” Russell was not really aiming the question at anyone in particular though he hoped someone would have an answer to it.

“If you stabilise that star then I will let you have your quarters, otherwise I want you in the brig.”
Andae kept his gaze on the XO for a few seconds longer, before finally turning back to his station. He hardly thought Davis's ultimatum was fair, but then he had to think of something.
=/\=Looks like this is it gentlemen=/\= came Wong over the channel again, =/\=Either do something ingenious or tell me what a great guy I was, but do it quick=/\=
Still with half his mind angry with Davis, Blakus responded, =/\= Good luck Colonel...=/\= was all he could think of. From behind him, Blakus heard Davis mutter similar sentiments.
Despite Davis's orders that Lieutenant Holland take over engineering, Blakus had enlisted several engineers to assist him, they all by now knew the situation. As Blakus had expected, knowledge of the illicit plan had spread like wildfire. With his engineers manning a row of consoles, beside him, Blakus entered the commands to activate the graviton pulse generator aboard the shuttle. Engineering had gone deathly silent, with the exception of the customary beeps and chirrups of the consoles, and of course the noise of the throbbing warp core. The CEO could actually hear the breathing of the XO, standing a few metres behind him.
Blakus and Ensign Bligh watched the descent of the shuttle into the star, plotted on a display between the two officers' respective stations. All's going well... Blakus thought, he was reassuring himself more than anything.
Profanities rang out around Engineering as the Colonel's lifesigns flickered and then disappeared from the monitor. Blakus sunk into his console in infinite disappointment and sorrow. But then, hoping against hope that it was an instrumentation error, he moved to open a channel to the shuttle.
=/\=Commander Davis this is the bridge, Colonel Wong is safely aboard.=/\=
Blakus withdrew his hand from opening a channel to the shuttle, and like his fellow engineers, let out a sigh of relief, but there was still a problem. Had the shuttle got far enough into the star? He wasn't sure.
Davis broke the silence again, “Ok, I would like to know if this is working or not.” He spoke his, and incidentally Blakus's, mind.
"Checking now sir." Blakus ran a few scans of the star and thought he liked what he was reading, but it was still too early to tell for sure. =/\=Commander Galwyn this is Blakus, what are your readings on the star's current stability?=/\=
<Tag Tiana>
He continued modulating the graviton pulse from the shuttle that was still heading into the star, albeit much slower. He cursed over the fact that the shuttle couldn't be piloted any longer. Blakus knew that they needed to get Wong out before it became impossible to do so, but still... He controlled the shuttle's systems until it was no longer possible, the shuttle was burning up. Even the enhanced hull and metaphasic shielding failed to protect it, perhaps if the shuttle was still piloted, they could have recovered it.
Blakus turned back to Davis for the first time in fifteen minutes, "Sir, I believe the star may have been stabilised, but these are only preliminary results. We may be mistaken, or the star's condition may change again.=/\=
Let's hope not... thought the CEO.

Tiberian braced himself as he flew into the sun. No-one had said anything to guarantee his continued life, and thus he resigned himself to the fact that these were likely to be his last few minutes to live. The shuttles shielding was still active, and the graviton emmitter was online. So long as the latter continued to operate, then his mission would not have been in vain. He kept dodging the solar flares, hoping to get as close to the sun as possible before his heat shielding was overwhelmed.
"Warning" an alarm beeped "Extreme gravitational fields are causing instabilities in the ship's structural integrity"
"Transfer all auxiliary power to SI field generator" Tiberian ordered, manually operating several controls in order to get his orders completed faster.
"Warning, structural collapse predicted in 3.75 minutes and counting"
"Well that's just great" Tiberian muttered quietly, although he had no idea why, considering the emptiness of the shuttlecraft.
"Warning, engines are overheating. Matter/Antimatter mix is becoming unstable. Main impulse driver coils at 3000 Kelvin and rising"
"Flood the entire drive assembly with plasma coolant" Tiberian ordered, ceasing to have any hope of piloting the ship back out of the star, but hoping that he could at least penetrate deep enough into its heart.
"Warning, order is not advisable. Plasma coolant may cause long term structural damage to drive assembly components"
"To hell with the long term, I'm more worried about the shorter term" Tiberian shouted "Override, authorisation Wong 64 Theta Proxima"
Deep in the bowels of the shuttle craft, the ports of two large tanks opened, spilling a vast spray of brown/green liquid forth onto the white hot engine equipment. It swirled, as if gaseous and not liquid, blanketing the components in a rotating mass of liquefying colour. Soon the entire engine compartment was flooded, cooling the engine, and buying more time.
"Warning" the computer began again.
"WHAT NOW!" Tiberian found himself screaming angrily at the monitor before regaining his trained composure.
"Attempted transport in progress. Source is the USS Victory"
"My God" Tiberian whispered "Quickly, computer begin aformentioned failsafe protocol, authorisation Wong 64 Theta Proxima"
All systems, save the engines, heat shields and graviton array cut out, plunging the cockpit into darkness. As the life support system went offline, the air began to grow thin, and as the personnel heat shields failed, the air remaining began to superheat at an immense rate. Tiberian breathed out a last sigh of relief as the transporter beam embraced him, dropping him onto the Victory's bridge. Two security officer moved towards him, but Tiberian pt out a hand.
"Wait, at least let me know if it worked before you arrest me" All the bridge crew waited with baited breath, until the report came throguh from engineering. It had worked.
"Now gentlemen" Tiberian raised his hands, allowing the security team to remove his knife, phaser and stun baton, and to escort him to a turbolift. "My only regret in this" Tiberain mused to no-one in particular "Is that I told Davis about my Romulan ale stash. Even if I was going to die, I shouldn't have done that"
The turbolift doors shut, and he was taken to the brig.

Nika let out a quick smile for Commander Galwyn, who'd just saved the life of one of her officers. And for the situation, because she hadn't just lost an officer, and it could have been so much worse. “Thank you,” she said to the Chief Science Officer.
Nika glanced up at Colonel Wong, verifying that he was actually safely back on the Victory, then turned to Galwyn again. Starfleet protocol would advise that he be removed from the bridge, given the givens, but Nika wasn't going to do that at the moment. For one, she had other matters distracting her, and that would be her official answer if she was ever asked. For another, Wong had just risked his life, had known that he was going to die but been willing to do it anyway, to save the homes and the lives of those people who hadn't been, who couldn't have been, evacuated.
Still, the security officers knew their job, and moved in to take Wong into custody. “Wait, at least let me know if it worked before you arrest me,” he said. Nika held up a hand, indicating that the security officers should do so.
She could taste the tension in the room as they all waited to hear from Science and Engineering. Nika hoped it worked, she really did. And it looked like it had. “Can we deploy probes to get that verified?” Nika asked Science. “This star has surprised us before.” And just why it had would be a matter for Federation scientists to study.
It was several hours later, and the star still showed no signs of suddenly imploding or exploding. The Victory, still quite crippled, couldn't do much more but observe it, and they didn't even have enough of their sensors fully functioning to do that well. Which was the main reason Nika still had the Victory hovering near the edge of the system, still with refugees. That, and it would strain her resources to move back again, and help should be arriving soon.
Commodore Rayne, Commanding Officer of the USS Avicenna and leader of the taskforce that would have arrived too late to be of immediate assistance, but as it was he found himself immediately helpful, =/\=Our sensors and probes indicate that an attempt to stop the destruction of the star has been successful=/\=Nika told him. =/\=But we'd like verification that the star's going to stay stable before we move anyone back. There's a merchant ship on the other side of the estimated blast radius that's also taken on refugees. And my Chief Engineer says he can't repair the Victory's warp drive without access to full facilities.=/\= The Chief Engineer was also detained in his quarters for his part in disobeying Nika's orders and risking personnel, but Nika didn't feel any need whatsoever to mention that.
After the refugees had been taken onto the Avicenna and the Victory was being towed back to Assailant by another ship to be repaired, Nika made a decision, and chose to visit Commander Sharp before visiting the brig. It wasn't that she really wanted to make Wong stew in the brig, it was just that she had pressing needs on her time, and she wanted to deal with everything personally.
She arrived in sickbay, and she could tell that the officer in charge wasn't sure whether to throw her out to let his passengers get some rest, or demand an immediate medical checkup be performed on the Captain.
“My medical record was updated about a week ago,” Nika said, trying to save Lt. Sala from having to ask. She could tell what the look on his face meant, after all. She'd seen it most times she entered sickbay, and it was probably a large part of the reason many captains avoided sickbay. “And I'm not really going to disturb Commander Sharp. I just want to say thank you.”
Lieutenant Sala nodded his head. “You're in luck, actually,” he said. “I've just about checked him out.”
Nika smiled brightly. “Thanks.” She walked over to the biobed where Commander Sharp was sitting, obviously wishing he had been released earlier. “Hey,” she greeted him. “How are you doing?”
<Sharp>
“That's good, I guess.” Nika glanced at the PADD she was holding, before realizing it didn't actually hold any information she needed to look at just now. She forced herself to meet Sharp's eyes again. “Trust me, I'm considering it,” she said, in reference to Sharp's request that charges be brought against Wong. Then she deliberately lightened her voice. “We're being taken home right now,” she said. “Back to Assailant, that is. We have everything on the ship under control, so I want you to spend the next few days off-duty. Oh, and they managed to save the system.” Nika's matter-of-fact way she said it didn't reveal how she felt about methods used.
<Sharp>
“I should go. Let Lieutenant Sala check you out and let you get out of here.” Nika nodded to Sharp.
<Sharp>
The conversation over, Nika left sickbay to go to the brig to talk to Lt. Colonel Wong. It was clear as she passed the security officers that they were uncomfortable with the situation. But then, so was she. “Hey,” she said to Lt. Colonel Wong, unconsciously using the same greeting she had used for Sharp.
<Wong>
“You know you present quite a bit of problem just now,” Nika confided. “I'm tempted to put an official reprimand on your record.” Mostly for some of his methods, and the fact that he'd taken out an officer. And the fact that he'd acted against her express orders. “I'm also tempted to congratulate you.” Because maybe those orders had been wrong. (Although the fact that he'd only barely managed to survive was an argument against that theory.) “And I don't think Starfleet will let me do both.”
<Wong>

" I've been kidnapped, tortured and in a scuffle with a marine and in sickbay for the second time other than that I'm doing fine." "Captain I'm recommending that Wong be brought up on charges for attacking a fellow officer."
“That's good, I guess.” Nika glanced at the PADD she was holding, before realizing it didn't actually hold any information she needed to look at just now. "i have no promblem with taking a few days off captain."
“I should go. Let Lieutenant Sala check you out and let you get out of here.” Nika nodded to Sharp.
"aye aye captain."
A few minutes later lt. Sala releases Sharp. Sharp heads to his quarters.

Tiana was leaning on the science console and gasping as if she had run a marathon. She knew she had pulled a technical trick out of the hat this time and had managed to save someone's life, but she knew how close she had come to failing. That scared her. Science didn't have all the answers, which was in the main reason she was a scientist to start with. Not having all the answers meant that you couldn't count on being able to solve every problem. This mission had thrown problem after problem at her and she was feeling the strain of those demands and the associated expectations.
=/\=Commander Galwyn this is Blakus, what are your readings on the star's current stability?=/\= Tiana almost cursed, she was so drained she could barely think. Colonel WOng asked the same question mere seconds later. She thumped her palm on the side of the science console. The pain forced her to focus again. The screen was scrolling with data, both on the shuttle and on the star. The counter was still scrolling as well. Tiana stared at the figures for a minute then two. Gradually they started to make sense.
=/\= Stellar output is down. It seems to be restablising. But I'll need more data to be sure =/\=
Tiana stayed on the bridge in silence watching her screen full of data and the ever ticking countdown. Zero came and there was no explosion. Tiana waited a little longer but nothing happened. She sighed and paged her relief. "Liam you are ordered to take a break. I'm meet you in the lounge in nine hours. Get some sleep." He smiled wearily, the strain of this mission was telling on him as well. The two of them left the bridge as soon as Lt Elbus arrived. Tiana knew that she would be paged if anything else happened but now...
Tiana reached her quarters and sat on the edge of her bed to pull her boots off. She set an alarm and turned the lights out. Then she crashed. She dimmly hoped not to be disturbed but hoped that if she was she could still do what was asked of her. No one had ever said starfleet was easy, no one had ever said that running a department was easy now though she just wanted to rest.

After conversing with Tiana, and after observing the star's activity for a few hours, it did appear to Andae that the star was indeed stabilised. He was jubilant, and was having a hard time believing that it had actually worked.
But it wasn't all perfect for the CEO, Commander Davis had kept to his promise, and now Andae was being escorted to his quarters by two security guards. He wondered if Captain Cir'Kem would find it necessary to enter a reprimand into his file, he couldn't imagine he would get away without at least one small blot on his service record.
"Well here we are." Blakus called out to the guards walking behind him. They had arrived at his quarters, Blakus entered and the guards informed him they would be externally locking the door and maintaining guard outside the quarters. Blakus, of course, already knew this, and considered making a snide remark on the subject. Opting against such rebellious thoughts, he simply acknowledged the two guards and walked into his quarters for the first time in he didn't know how long.
The first thing he took note of, besides how warm and inviting his bed looked, was the computer on his desk, there were three communiques awaiting viewing. Two of them were related to his promotion to Lieutenant Commander, something he had only found out about several hours before, in the heat of the action. One from an officer at Starfleet Engineering informing him of it, the other confirming it through paper work, which required reading, and therefore concentration, something Blakus did not have in great abundance at that moment.
The third and last message was a surprise, Blakus's eyes widened slightly, it was from Ainsleigh McLeod, a friend and fellow cadet of Blakus's from the academy. I'd nearly forgotten about her! he thought. She congratulated him on the promotion. Smiling, Blakus made a carefully considered reply to her, and then went to sleep...

Scene USS VICTORY -Mid Watch
“Deck 10
“Cmdr Matthew Headed down the corridor towards HoloDeck # 3. he had been worrying all day about taking this time off but the ship chief medical officer had assured him the rest would be good. For his over all Stress level Besides, he had been dieing to get back into this program .
Luckily so far no one had seemed to notice his fashion statement. he was wearing a wet suite and carrying a pair of flippers and snorkel and goggles..
“Cmdr Matthew entered the Holodeck after asking 'Blue water 21' to be run. The damp, salty smell of the ocean hit him right away, bringing back memories of his last visits. Tugging loose strands of hair from his eyes he made his careful progress over the volcanic rocks down to where the ocean threw itself ashore. There was no sand, no palm trees, no Rastafarian's playing steel drums. Just rocks, wind and ocean.
“The sky was mildly cloudy and the day therefore bleak, which would add the extra gloom to the underwater he liked. Admittedly it meant he wouldn't see as much, but he found the shadows and patterns cast through the kelp far more relaxing than the actual view.
“he placed his flippers and such down gently on the rocks before undoing the own and folding it neatly. Above a curious gull called out and James felt quite self-conscious about standing there in nothing but a wetsuit and shoes.
“Trying to get up the nerve to keep going with the simulation and stop the voice at the back of him head telling him it was a complete waste of time, he looked out over the water. Bundles of kelp bobbed rhythmically up and down in the crestless waves. One of two of these bundles moved to indicate it was an otter floating in its self made harness of kelp.
“James sat himself down far enough from the edge and slipped off his shoes. he then fitted on the flippers, picked up the snorkel and goggle set and awkwardly approached the end of the rocks. he then took a deep breath, held his nose with one hand and jumped in, gasping on contact and realization at how cold the water actually was. Least with safeties on the program would end it if he got into trouble.
While treading water James spat into the goggles then added seawater and swished it about. It was an anti-fogging trick he'd read about and always found worked. he then slipped the goggles over his head, fitted the snorkel into his mouth and took a few test puffs. It was then head down and bum up and he partially dove and swam off to explore. As he moved he felt the usual relaxing feel of the water and surroundings work off what seemed like eons of stress and tension.
After what seemed like hours of diving, floating and meandering his way through the giant algae forests he arrived back at the rocky outcrop he had stowed his gear on. James flicked the goggles off while still in the water “
“When the computer voice Commander Matthew you have a Schedule Appointment in your office At 0:430 hours you wonted to be Reminded of”
“James yeah” Computer save Program at this point James made his way out of the water grab a towel and His gear headed for the Exit

Andae arose from sleep well rested and feeling fresh, for the first time in a... in a long while. After taking a sonic shower and having a much needed shave, he donned a fresh uniform and fetched a drink from the replicator. He sat on the couch and slowly swirled the liquid in the glass before him. Andae found himself thinking of the Kavrisians. So their system had been saved, but would things now improve? Would they go ahead and sign the treaty?
Perhaps such a tumultous event such as that that had just passed, would require more than simply continuing with life as if nothing had happened. Maybe there would be a revolution of thought among the three factions. Perhaps the danger to their culture would put the universe in a different perspective for them.
Anyways, whatever the long term result, the whole experience had empowered Blakus, charged him with a surge of renewed self-esteem. The mission had been tough on the still young CEO, he had withered in self doubt and insecurity at times (little helped by the exhaustion he had felt), yet given his opportunity to help the Kavrisians, the Valnot, the Pelli as he had so dearly wanted, he had put his mind at rest with itself.
Part of Blakus wanted to go down to one of the moons, or Kavris itself, just to see how they were dealing with things. Blakus wanted proof that they were recuperating after the near-disaster, that all his effort had not been for nothing.
The rest of him thought it wise not to. They should be allowed to get on with it themselves... Blakus told himself that this was the reason why he shouldn't. It made sense in his head, it was the right thing to do, it was the wise man's decision. But Blakus knew it wasn't the reason why he wouldn't go, and he was loathe to admit it. He could not even bring himself to say it in his head, it was that difficult... A new thought culminated in an instant, it swirled around, up through his brain in a way that fascinated Blakus... So do I really believe it?
No, the reason why he didn't want to go was simple. He was tired. It was natural, inextricable laxity, trademarks of one particular race: human.

Tiberian had removed his tunic and shirt, and was doing pull ups against the edge of the holding cell by his fingertips, sweating profusely as he progressed and the moves became increasingly harder. One thing he didn't like about violating regulations was the period of incarceration that invariably followed, thus leaving him with little else to do with his time than exercise, and contemplate exactly what story he would concoct in order to get himself out of this situation. As it stood, he hadn't come up with anything interesting to defend himself with per se, but had given serious contemplation to the thought of throwing himself on the mercy of the Captain, and hoped the loss of a shuttle hadn't caused a great deal of osuring to their relationship.
"Hey" The Captain had entered the brig, moving over to Tiberian's forcefield. Tiberian dropped to the deck, came to attention and saluted, then moving to stand at ease.
"Alright ma'am. I assume this isn't a social call to see what I've done with the place"
“You know you present quite a bit of problem just now,” Nika confided. “I'm tempted to put an official reprimand on your record. I'm also tempted to congratulate you. And I don't think Starfleet will let me do both.”
"Now I do see your problem" Tiberian nodded in a jokingly sagelike manner, before sitting on his bunk "Perhaps you should just put me into a torpedo and shoot me into the sun. No one need ever know that I was beamed out of that shuttle" He joked, awaiting the Captain's response.
<TAG Captain Cir'Kem>
"Well then, seeing as that wouldn't work, what we should probably do is confine me to the brig for a week, and reprimand me for taking the shuttlecraft against orders, the reprimand for which would be a weeks confinement in the brig. Me saving the system cancels out the breaking orders, and I pull a couple of extra shifts for Commander Sharp to make amends. Win win. What do you think?"
<TAG Captain Cir'Kem>
After the Captain left, Tiberian kicked up his heels and laid back on his bunk, deciding to reminisce about his varying near death experiences over his time in the service. He reverie didn't get past his experiences with the Nekori before a shadow was cast over his body and onto the wall, with their hair tied back in a pony tail. Tiberian turned his face to the right to see Katie, arms folded, glowering at him through the forcefield.
"Ok, now hear me out..." Tiberian began, before Katie cut across him.
"Hear what out" she asked angrily "That you decided to go on yet another stupid crusade for martyrdom, or that you didn't have the decency to tell me that I might never see you again" her eyes were red and tearful, but the shaking anger never melted in her voice. The two security officers posted in the room looked at each other uncomfortably.
"Perhaps you gentlemen could give us a moment" Tiberian suggested firmly, wanting a bit of privacy for the domestic. The guards shifted uneasily, wanting to go, but not wanting to disobey obvious orders to keep an eye on him.
"OUT!" Katie screamed at them, sending them packing, and eliciting a slight smile from Tiberian. "I don't know what you're smiling about" she hissed as she slid down to sitting beside the forcefield "I'm still not going to forgive you"
"Look" Tiberian moved to a parallel position on the opposite side of the forcefield "You know it was just that I..."
"Didn't think. Or only thought about the mission?"
"I thought that was why you fell in love with me?" Tiberian asked pointedly. She sighed.
"Just don't do it again. I have no intention of losing you anytime soon"
And so the two sat there, quietly, looking at each othr through opposite sides of the forcefield.

Nika wasn't amused by Wong's first suggestion. His second, while a significant improvement, still didn't deal with everything. “I don't believe that serving a few shifts for Commander Sharp will be enough. Possibly because he doesn't have a problem doing his duty or following orders, and doesn't have any problems serving his own shifts.”
Nika shrugged. “You will stay in the brig until we arrive at Assailant. I will then encourage Sharp not to press charges, because just now he wants to, on the basis that you will be receiving an official reprimand and you will not leave the ship while we are on Assailant doing repairs.
“And I want there to be an understanding that you won't try anything like this again. If you don't like my orders, you are free to tell me that, and I might reconsider them. But you will obey them. And if you have a problem with that, then you might want to give some consideration to whether you're in the right profession.”
Nika wasn't happy with what she was saying, but she didn't see that she had that much of a choice. True, there were very few circumstances where she could send an officer of hers to their probable or even possible death, either from a moral standpoint or from the standpoint that she would be guaranteed a court martial. And in some of those circumstances, it might even be best overall if some of those risks were taken. And this had probably been one, though Nika highly suspected she would feel different if Galwyn hadn't been able to save Wong's life, or the star had blown up anyways, or both.
And there were even more circumstances where she needed to be able to give an order and have it obeyed, and if she couldn't trust that it would be, then she couldn't command a ship very well, and there wasn't that much point in asking people to follow her.
Nika finished talking to Wong and headed back to the bridge. She didn't find being on it terribly comforting, so ended up retreating to her office after only a short amount of time, to start filling out mission reports and making records of what had happened for her superior officer's amusement, no doubt. Nika kind of hoped so, because at least they would serve some kind of purpose.
